Kevin Kennedy: It would be brilliant to return to Corrie

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Kennedy thinks it would be “brilliant” to return to ‘Coronation Street.’
The 61-year-old actor starred as Curly Watts on the long-running ITV soap for 20 years and would like to know what his character – who famously married and divorced barmaid Raquel Wolstenhulme during his time on the cobbles – has been up to since quitting the role back in 2003.
He said: “A return to ‘Corrie’ would be quite brilliant, actually. Where Curly has been, what he is doing. People are interested to know that sort of thing. They like to know what has happened to old characters. I have a very good relationship with ITV so we’ll just have to wait and see.”
Meanwhile, Kevin had a well-documented battle with alcoholism during his time on the show and explained that ITV bosses stook an American approach to the situation by sending him to a rehabilitation clinic and he has since set up a charity called Kennedy Street to help others battling addiction.
He told the Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “ITV took the American route of rehabilitation for their employees. This was 1998 and if you had an addiction problem, a lot of companies would just get rid of you. But they went with this new fad – as it was at the time – and sent me to rehab. That was a massive boost because it gave me a sense of self-worth.
” Kennedy Street has been going for 20-odd years. We set it up as a place you could ring and we would try to point you in the right direction. We now have a hub in Brighton, which we’re setting up so people can come and go to meetings and have one-to-one advice on what to do next.”

Rian Johnson struggled with Star Wars: The Last Jedi backlash

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson says the backlash to ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ was “incredibly painful”.
The 48-year-old filmmaker helmed the middle part of the ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy but the movie divided fans of the sci-fi franchise and Rian struggled to deal with the criticism at first.
Speaking to Empire magazine, Rian said: “It’s been a process. At the beginning, it was not easy. It was incredibly painful.”
The ‘Knives Out’ director revealed that he was particularly sensitive to social media criticism prior to the film being released.
Johnson said: “Before the movie came out, if one person said slightly snarky to me on Twitter, I felt a deep, ‘Oh my God, there’s someone out there that doesn’t like me… I have to fix this.'”
The director says that he has been able to get over the backlash and believes that the experience has actually benefitted him.
Rian said: “In the context of social media, and maybe in the context just of being a human being in the world, it’s a very healthy thing to have been put through the fire on.
“You could also make the argument that those nerve-endings that have been seared off is a bad thing.”
Despite the 2017 movie dividing audiences, Rian admits that is “even more proud” of the project five years on from its release.
He said: “I’m even more proud of it five years on. When I was up at bat, I really swung at the ball.”
Johnson added: “I think it’s impossible for any of us to approach ‘Star Wars’ without thinking about it as a myth that we were raised with, and how that myth, that story, baked itself into us and affected us.
“The ultimate intent was not to slip away – the intent was to get to the basic, fundamental power of myth. And ultimately I hope the film is an affirmation of the power of the myth of ‘Star Wars’ in our lives.”

Daniel Kaluuya taking a break from acting after Nope

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Kaluuya is “chilling” on acting after the release of ‘Nope’.
The 33-year-old actor recently starred in Jordan Peele’s sci-fi horror film and is taking a brief break from acting as he has “nothing lined up”.
Daniel told Deadline: “I like the films to come out and have nothing lined up. You’re showing a new performance, a new way, a new space that you were in at that time, so you gotta let that get out there and spread.”
The Oscar-winner has moved behind the camera as a producer on the comedy movie ‘Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul’, which marks the first film from his production company 59 per cent.
The film tells the story of Trinity Childs (Regina Hall) as she attempts to help her pastor husband Lee-Curtis Childs (Sterling K. Brown) rebuild their congregation after their church is hit by a scandal.
The movie is shot in the style of a mockumentary and Daniel has revealed that it was an aesthetic choice.
He said: “You don’t really see films about black people with this tone in this sort of narrative. Let’s discuss these relationships and issues in a digestible way.
“I’m a firm believer in accessible excellence. I think a lot of excellence is inaccessible. I’m a cinephile and I watch films with my friends that I grew up and I test my taste in films on them to see if they translate to the common man and woman.
“And I feel like ‘Honk for Jesus’ does that. But doesn’t sacrifice craft for it.”
Kaluuya is set to make his screenwriting debut in the dystopian thriller ‘The Kitchen’, set in London in a distant future where the gap between rich and poor has been stretched to its limits and desperate working-class people are forced to live in temporary accommodation on the outskirts of the city.
The story centres on Izi, a resident trying to find his way out, and 12-year-old Benji who is searching for a family after losing his mother.
Daniel said of the film: “The idea came to me when I was sitting in a barber shop and this guy was talking about the idea of multi-million-pound heists in a minute and I just thought that would be the coolest film I’d ever see.”

Alison Hammond was ‘nervous’ to sit next to Dermot O’Leary on This Morning

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Hammond felt “nervous” sitting next to Dermot O’Leary on ‘This Morning.’
The 47-year-old TV star joined forces with former ‘X Factor’ host Dermot,49, to front the Friday edition of the morning show in place of regular presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield back in 2021 when COVID-19 restrictions were in place on-set and admitted it was strange to rehearse “normally” now that social distancing rules no longer apply following their summer break.
She said: “We had never done it ‘normally’ before. I was actually a bit nervous sitting next to him because I was so used to working and hosting with that [two-metre] distance between us.”
The former ‘Big Brother’ contestant – who first joined the ITV daytime show back in 2003 as a competition segment host and, along with Dermot, replaced longstanding hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes for the Friday slot back in November – was replaced with a with a rotation of other famous faces such as Rylan Clark, Josie Gibson, Vernon Kay, and Rochelle Humes over the course of the summer but Dermot admitted that he “still forgets” that social distancing rules have changed upon his return to the programme.
In the joint interview, he told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz Column: “I sometimes still forget because I automatically go to sit two metres apart and Alsion often says ‘Get closer!'”
The TV duo are set to return to their regular slot on the show on Friday (09.09.22), while Holly and Phil will be fronting the show from Mondays until Thursdays once again from September 5.

Fatima Whitbread would walk around the Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins campsite completely nude.

OHMYGOSSIP — Fatima Whitbread would walk around the ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ campsite completely nude.
The Olympic javelin star – who at 61 is the oldest ever contestant on the Channel 4 show – encouraged everyone to embrace themselves as she would roam around completely starkers.
Dwain Chambers, an Olympian said: “Day one or two, Fatima would just walk past us naked.”
The 44-year-old sprinter continued: “I was like, what?”
Fellow contestant and ex-‘TOWIE’ star Ferne McCann said: “I really respected her. You’re totally exposed and you have to get over it. I think that the older you are, the more comfortable you are in your own skin and body, and she just stripped off. She encouraged me to just wash. You’ve got to find these comforts in that environment.”
Meanwhile, ex- ‘EastEnders’ star Maisie Smith – who has also signed up to appear on the survival show – says she wanted to grow up to be like the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ contestant Fatima.
The 21-year-old actress said: “If anything like Fatima when I’m 60, I’ll have won in life. But she does fart all the time!”
Meanwhile, on Sunday’s episode (04.09.2022), Fatima – who broke the world record at the 1986 European Athletics Championships in Stuttgart with a throw of 77.44 metres – revealed she was “abandoned as a baby and left to die”.
After impressing them with the much-dreaded gassing challenging, she told Directing Staff Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham and Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox: “Yeah it’s hard, I didn’t expect it not to be, but you dig deep and see what you’ve got.
Foxy responded: “I’ve known you since a young age, and you’re like an inspiration to me.”
Fatima replied: “I was abandoned as a baby, and some would say left to die, in a flat in London, and a neighbour heard that baby crying for a couple of days and didn’t see anyone coming or going, so she reported it.”

Coronation Street uses new green-screen technology for ‘explosive’ scenes

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ is using “cinematic” green-screen technology for upcoming scenes.
The long-running ITV soap opera has filmed an “explosive week” of scenes for the departure of established character Kelly Neelan – played by Millie Gibson – and producer Iain MacLeod has teased that the cast and crew have used “impressive” technology normally used in cinematic blockbusters.
He said: “We’ve done something really special and certainly among the most impressive things that I’ve worked on in my varied career and so, I’m very excited by it. We’ve decided to go full on. The centrepiece of the week is a sequence that we’ve shot using technology that’s more commonly found in things like ‘The Mandalorian’, or they use a slightly larger version of this in a lot of the ‘Avengers’ movies.
“In this full volume wall which is relatively new to me, essentially it’s like a very new fandangled version of what they would have called green screen, or back projection back in the early days of the talkies.”
The ‘Corrie’ boss – who was previously at the helm of fellow ITV soap opera ‘Emmerdale’ – went on to explain that the technology has allowed him to create a “three-dimensional world” as part of a rooftop sequence.
He told The Mirror: “But basically, it means you can put your actors anywhere that you can imagine so you can essentially design a 3D world. So what we’ve done is create this incredible rooftop sequence with a source of twinkling Mancunian cityscape behind it, so that we can do things that you could never normally do in a location shoot. You can put real actors in what appears to be very real danger without using stunt performance. You can have the camera behave in a way that it can’t do in the real world.”
“The gist of the week is, we all know, and it leaves me with a heavy heart to say, but we all know Kelly’s leaving the show. So we thought well, actually, the fact that Millie is going and that therefore Kelly is going allows us to go really big and do something incredibly high stakes, to maybe have some characters step on all these landmines that we’ve buried for them over the years and have them go off in one cataclysmic explosion.”

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu ‘forgot’ Love Island was a TV show

OHMYGOSSIP — Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu “forgot” ‘Love Island’ was a TV show .
The 28-year-old actress won the hit ITV2 dating show alongside now-boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti back in August and admitted that she and Davide were so embroiled in their own romance they were “rooting” for another couple to win the £50,000 cash prize.
She said: “We at some point forgot it was a TV show so I was like ‘Davide, we’ve got mics on and there are cameras!’ and we were like ‘Oh no, this is a show’. And I think when it hit us was when they told us the finals were coming up. I was like ‘What do you mean the finals are coming up?’ We were happy and thought ‘We’ve got each other’ That’s all that mattered so we were actually rooting for other people to win and we didn’t really mind.”
Ekin-Su went on to quash rumours of infidelity on Davide’s part and noted that while it is “nice” of fans to “stick up for her”, insisted that the inner workings of the relationship are always private, even for those who are not in the public eye.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, she told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “I was on a shoot actually and I had the fans saying ‘Ekin, your man’s been seen with two girls’ and I immediately text Davide asking what was going on. I called him and we spoke and I know from the club that he went to there was a bunch of people there too but there was only a limited number of cabs. You’re in the public eye but it wasn’t just Davide and these two girls. There was a group of them and it’s nice the fans are sticking up but the relationship is always private and only you know the truth. That’s it. You just have to block it out. Even in real life, if you’re not in the public eye. Like ‘Oh she’s flirting with her boss.’ You just have to cut it all out and be you.”

I just feel like we’ve hit the jackpot. As soon as I saw her, she just looked like this beautiful, healthy baby girl, and that’s all I cared about. I get a bit emotional!”

Mary Berry says husband falls asleep when she’s on TV

OHMYGOSSIP — Mary Berry says her husband falls asleep whilst watching her series.
The former ‘Great British Bake Off’ star, 87 – who’s been married to Paul Hunnings for over five decades, since tying the knot in 1966, says being a household name doesn’t matter to her partner who tends to doze off whenever she appears on the telly.
Mary, 87, told the Mirror: “My family watch my series but my husband usually falls asleep during them.
“Interestingly, he doesn’t when it’s rugby or cricket.”
She added: “But I do have tremendous support from Paul. I’ll say, ‘I’ve got another series’ and he’ll say, ‘You enjoy what you do, so off you go and I’ll be here when you get back.’
“When I’m away, I leave things for him to eat, though, because he’s not a cook and he’ll end up just opening the cornflake packet,” she adds with a laugh. “When I come back, he’ll say ‘I’ve missed you’, which of course is very comforting, and he always has a nice glass of chilled wine ready for me.”
Mary, who began her career in 1960s after being appointed cookery editor of Housewife magazine, has over 70 cookbooks under her name and numerous TV shows including ‘Mary Berry Everyday’, ‘Classic Mary Berry’ and ‘Mary Berry’s Simple Comforts’.
Despite breaking her hip over a year ago and taking a break, Mary shows no signs of slowing down as she returns to the screens this week with a new series called ‘Mary Berry – Cook Share’.
The six part series, which is set to return on Wednesday (07.09.22) at 8pm on BBC Two, will see Mary sharing her fuss free recipes that can be used on any occasion.
She added: “We are much more informal than we used to be – is everybody having smart dinner parties? Not really. We’re more casual these days and it’s all about sharing platters, so I thought that focusing on food you can eat together would be perfect,”

Lord Sugar is no longer working with an ‘The Apprentice’ winner, says source

OHMYGOSSIP — Lord Alan Sugar is no longer working with an ‘The Apprentice’ winner, according to a source.
The 75-year-old tycoon is no longer working with Sarah Lynn – who became the BBC show’s first joint winner alongside James White in 2017 – after he invested in her candy store idea, Sarah’s Chic Sweets.
An insider told the Sun newspaper: This will have come as a huge blow for Sarah, though it shouldn’t have been too big a surprise for her.
“She joins a long line of entrepreneurs who won ‘The Apprentice’ only to find themselves splitting with Lord Sugar some time later.
“The situation is obviously likely to attract greater attention because she was the first joint winner on the Beeb show.”
Sarah is not the first partner that Alan has walked away from as according to documents, he no longer has “significant control” in Sian Gabbidon’s clothing business, Sian Marie Fashion’ after she won the 2018 series, securing a £250,000 slice of his pie.
Earlier this year, Harpreet Kaur became the latest winner of the show – following “an all-female final” after it took a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After her victory for her burgeoning bakery empire, the 30-year-old entrepreneur said: “I absolutely loved that it was an all-female final because I love empowering women. I hope that I can inspire many women that you need to follow your dreams, go and smash your goals, go and get them.
“But I also do feel that we need to sort of delete these titles out there in business, it doesn’t matter if you’re male or female.
“If you can set your eyes on something, and you’re going to make a success of yourself, go for it. It doesn’t really matter what gender you are.
“And I think, again, through the process, that’s what Lord Sugar is about, I don’t think it matters if you’re male or female, if he recognises that someone’s worth an investment, he will do that.”

“I’m not even… I wish I had information I could give you but I really don’t. But it’d be great.”
The Brazilian actress revealed that her alter ego had been supposed to die in ‘Deadpool 2’ before the story was altered and Morena thinks it is a “good sign” for Vanessa’s future.
She said: “I think when we shot this second film, I would just die. And then after they screened it a few times they actually changed it to include this timeline thing so I think that’s a good sign that the fans want to see me again. Whether or not it happens, it’s not up to me.”
Morena had admitted in 2020 that she had “no idea” if she would be appearing in the film.
The star said: “I have no idea. Apparently, they’re still writing it. I genuinely don’t know.

Lea Seydoux hints at James Bond return

OHMYGOSSIP — Lea Seydoux has teased that she could return for the next James Bond film.
The 37-year-old actress has played Dr. Madeleine Swann in ‘Spectre’ and ‘No Time To Die’ and suggested that she could be back for the next installment after Bond’s death and Daniel Craig’s exit from the role at the end of the last movie.
Lea, who plays the mother of Bond’s daughter, told Deadline: “After all I’m not dead. It was James who died, not Madeleine. So, who knows? Maybe I’ll be back.
“This is like fake news, right? But if we’re serious for a moment, Madeleine drives away with her daughter right at the end because James has saved them. There’ll be a new Bond because Daniel’s Bond died but who’s to say that Madeleine won’t be back?”
The French actress revealed that she is yet to speak with Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson about a future 007 appearance, especially as they are yet to decide who will replace Craig as the legendary spy.
Lea said: “I haven’t spoken to Barbara about whether or not Madeleine would make an appearance in a future Bond film, a lot has to happen before that stage is reached.”
The ‘Crimes of the Future’ star previously revealed that the ending of ‘No Time To Die’ had left her heartbroken.
She said: “I still can’t believe that that’s what they decided, that he’s gone. I remember that when I read the script, I knew it and I had to keep the secret.”
Even though Craig’s version of Bond was killed, Lea wants the franchise to continue with a new actor as 007.
She said: “It made me sad, actually, it made me really sad. But I hope they will find a new way to – you know they will find something else.”
