Don’t Worry Darling cinematographer denies tension on set

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Don’t Worry Darling’s cinematographer insists that the movie’s set was “harmonious”.
Despite reports of acrimony between director Olivia Wilde and leading actress Florence Pugh, cinematographer Matthew Libatique has insisted that there were no issues on set.
Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter‘s ‘Behind the Screen’ podcast, he said: “This was probably the most harmonious set I’ve ever been on. Olivia built a team that believed in her and she believed in each and everybody on the set. … When I hear that there are reports of acrimony on the set, I reject it. It wasn’t apparent at all.”
And, he added that if there was tension, it happened after he left the set.
He said: “Whatever happened, it happened way after I left and started doing something else. I was never witness to anything and I didn’t feel anything. You know, you get a feeling that there might be something going on, and I didn’t feel anything.”
He went on to praise both Olivia and Florence, saying Wilde “has something really special as a director. She’s extremely visual and open and likes to take many chances”.
Speaking about Florence, he added: “she could do anything”.
The movie stars Florence and Olivia’s boyfriend Harry Styles as a couple living in an idyllic town where everything is not as it seems.
It also stars Chris Pine, Gemma Chan and KiKi Layne.

Charlotte Crosby’s fears for mum

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Crosby has been so worried about her mother’s cancer that she hasn’t had time to fret about giving birth.
The 32-year-old reality TV star is pregnant with her first child but admitted that she has barely been thinking about the labour as she is currently consumed with looking after her mother Letitia, who recently started chemotherapy for breast cancer.
She told MailOnline: “I’ve got my mam and I’m going to chemotherapy with her, she just started last week. I’m too busy worrying about my mam so giving birth hasn’t even entered my mind.
“We were saying this morning that it’s so weird to think that she got diagnosed with cancer while I was pregnant – it’s literally been the whole of my pregnancy so we haven’t embraced it as much as we could have but when the baby arrives, she’ll be really happy.”
Charlotte is expecting a baby girl with partner Jake Ankers and the birth will be filmed for an upcoming BBC series.
She said: “I’m going to be filming all the way up until I give birth and I will be filming the birth.
“I feel really calm about it because this show is completely different to anything I’ve ever filmed before. It’s really relaxed, and it’s really calm, it’s so much like a fly-on-the-wall that sometimes I don’t even notice that I’m filming so I’m fine.”
Charlotte previously revealed she couldn’t accept the news of her mother’s diagnosis at first.
She said: “When mum got the letter from them she said she thought something was wrong.
“But I was so adamant it wasn’t. I said, ‘You’re being stupid and worrying over nothing.’ I was so adamant it was going to be fine. I didn’t even entertain the fact it would be cancer.
“When she called and told us it was cancer, I said: No it’s not.’ She was like, ‘No I have been told it is cancer.’ But I still didn’t believe it because I was so adamant it could not be that.
“There was a really low part.
“Mum went into a negative place. And there is only so much you can tell yourself your mam is going to be OK, when your mam is saying: ‘I am going to die, I am going to die,’
“And I remember mam saying it so much that I get into my head, ‘Mam is going to die.’
“But she changed her mind-set when she saw how upset I was.”

James Argent dating 18-year-old actress

OHMYGOSSIP — James ‘Arg’ Argent has found love again.
The 34-year-old reality TV star – who previously dated his ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ co-stars Gemma Collins and Lydia Bright – has reportedly started seeing 18-year-old Italian actress Stella Turian after meeting in Mykonos.
A source told MailOnline: “James and Stella are in love, they fell for each other the moment they met and have spent as much time together as possible since.
“This is a big deal for James – he hasn’t been in a relationship for years because he’s been working on himself and finally now, he’s ready to share his life with someone.
“The age difference hasn’t played any part in their romance so far, they’ve holidayed together in Italy and Marbella, getting to know each other away from the spotlight.”
The pair started dating after meeting in Mykonos, where James was attending a friend’s wedding.
Meanwhile, James has previously struggled with substance abuse and body issues but spent time recovering at a rehabilitation clinic in Thailand.
He said in 2020: “I’m in my 30s now and I have fully accepted that my life had become completely unmanageable a) with drugs and b) with my eating disorder.
“From a young age I’ve always struggled with body image and sometimes when you see me being smiley and happy it can be to cover up – it was almost like wearing a mask.
“When you come off a huge show like ‘TOWIE’ and I’m sure the Love Islanders can relate, you start getting booked up for nightclub appearances and I remember I was finding myself in nightclubs up and down the country six nights a week and I was drinking most of those nights and then I started doing drugs more and more.
“My addiction started really badly when my friends and family recognised I had a problem and an addiction, which was a year and a half into ‘TOWIE’.”

Magic Mike’s Last Dance to get theatrical release

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ will get a theatrical release.
The movie – starring Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek – was originally set to go straight to streaming on HBO Max but Warner Bros has now decided on a theatrical release from February 10, 2023.
Meanwhile, director Steven Soderbergh recently revealed that he wanted it to premiere on the big screen.
He said: “We’re talking about it.
“It’s certainly hard to argue that this isn’t a movie that’s best seen in a theatre, because we have the data. People, primarily women, were going in packs, in large groups, to see the ‘Magic Mike’ movies.”
Steven revealed that ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ is likely to be the final film in the series but suggested that spin-offs could be developed with characters other than Channing’s Mike Lane.
He explained: “I think there are other things to be done within what I consider now to be a larger ‘Magic Mike’ universe.
“There are stories that can be told that have the same sort of ethos and are tackling the same subjects that still involve dance but don’t have Mike Lane in them.”
The film’s production hit a rocky patch when Thandiwe Newton was replaced by Hayek after shooting began but Steven said the actress has been a capable member of the cast.
Soderbergh said: “I hadn’t seen Salma in 22 years after she did a little bit part in ‘Traffic’.
“She just brings so much to the table. Anybody that spent any amount of time with Salma will see that there is so much of Salma in this movie.”

Will Packer: Movie making is always a risk

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Packer says movie making is “always” a risk.
The 48-year-old producer has overseen the production of almost 30 blockbusters through his self-titled company including the likes of ‘Girls Trip, ‘Little’ and ‘What Men Want’ and “loves” that his latest movie ‘Beast’ – which stars Idris Elba as a recently widowed doctor who must fight to escape a lion in South Africa – is an entirely original action film and is not based on a comic book.
He said: “Here’s the reality. All films are a risk. Period. Anytime you’re going in and putting a bunch of money behind a narrative, it’s gonna be a risk. But we’re risk takers, that’s why we’re in this business. And I love the fact that this is an intellectual property that is not based on a comic book. And I have nothing against comic book movies but it’s an original IP, we’ve got in my opinion one of the best actors in the world and it is one of those fun escapism-type movies but it does have gravitas and weight.”
‘Beast’ has been released exclusively in cinemas and the movie mogul went on to call for “diverse” ways of going to the movies, whether it be in person or streaming at home.
He told HeyUGuys: “I think that we should have a diversity of content being made for cinemas or for streaming,or wherever audiences are. I think it’s a win a movie like ‘Beast’ even exists in the marketplace. Just the fact that it exists is a win!”

Sir Michael Palin quitting travel shows

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Michael Palin is quitting his travel shows.
The 79-year-old presenter – who had heart surgery in 2019 – revealed his recent trip to Iraq for a new Channel 5 series will be among his final ones.
He told the Mirror: “I don’t know where I want to go now. People say where are you going to now? I say the chemist.
“I feel enormously privileged and grateful that I’ve done as much travelling as I have in the last 35 years.
“There have been good times, interesting times, exciting times, and adventure. But at a certain point you do have to be careful about what you do next.”
However, he hinted that he could be convinced to return.
He said: “I think one has to do the work, make the programmes, and then assess how they’re received, and the audience reception will either encourage me to get my boots on again or decide for me to hang them up for good.
“Going Into Iraq was a really enjoyable experience with a great team.
“Channel 5 seem quite keen on taking me to places where I could get killed.
“But I quite like the three week thing, We work incredibly hard and everyone is trying to do their very best work and it comes up brilliantly. But I can do that for about three weeks, I think. Then we need to really stop.
“And I think perhaps that’s the future, we’ll find somewhere else which is dangerous and go there and try to survive.”

Joel Dommett turning down work

OHMYGOSSIP — Joel Dommett has started turning down work after his wife said she is sick of seeing him on TV.
The 37-year-old presenter admitted he finds it difficult to say no to new TV jobs but he is planning to cut back on the advice of his wife Hannah Cooper.
He told The Sun newspaper: “Hannah says it all the time. She sees me as a person and then she gets home and I’m not there, and she sees me on the TV as well.
“There’s no way I would get too big for my boots because I have a wife who constantly keeps me in check.
“The thing is, I love making television. I love the process, the people, making friends, and when you get paid to do that it’s difficult to say no.
“I also work a lot because I have always felt like it was going to end. But ‘The Masked Singer’ and ‘The Masked Dancer’ have given me a bit of a comfort blanket in terms of feeling I’ve got a few years of security.
“That’s the hard part at this stage of my career though, you do have to start saying no to things.
“And the reason is that otherwise people would start to hate you.”
However, Joel admitted he is very self-critical.
He said: “I would phone Hannah after a show, crying down the phone, thinking I was so bad at it. I’d mess up the autocue and feel so nervous.
“I would go back to my hotel room and put an audiobook on subtitles and just read it out loud for hours on end to try to improve.
“It didn’t really make a difference because it’s a ¬different type of pressure when you are on live TV but I’ve learned to love it.
“But I cry after shows every now and then. I am very self-critical. I am probably a bit too hard on myself.”

Stacey Dooley unmasked as Prawn Cocktail on Masked Dancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Dooley has been unmasked as Prawn Cocktail on ‘The Masked Dancer’.
The award-winning documentary-maker – who is pregnant with her first child with boyfriend Kevin Clifton – found herself in the bottom two of the ITV reality show with Scissors on Saturday night’s (17.09.22) show.
Panellists Jonathan Ross and Oti Mabuse had guessed the identity correctly.
On why she chose to take part, Stacey said: “Do you know I had the time of my life, I just wanted to pretend to be a daft, drunk, annoying aunt.”
The 35-year-old presenter told the judges of the body-pumping routine: “I’m not fit at all, I just threw that in to throw you off.”
And on why she chose the prawn cocktail costume, she replied: “I wanted to be something really daft, I didn’t want to be anything sexy or girly.”
Last weekend, Joanna Page was exposed as Pig.
The 45-year-old actress – who is best known for playing Stacey Shipman in ‘Gavin and Stacey’ – was eliminated after strongly hinting at her time on the sitcom during the clue package.
Joanna – who starred on the hit BBC series alongside Mathew Horne, Ruth Jones and James Corden – referred to the number 47 during the package and she later explained the meaning behind it.
She said: “It was Stacey’s house number in ‘Gavin and Stacey’.”
‘Desperate Housewives’ star Jesse Metcalfe had been unmasked as Astronaut the weekend before.
Meanwhile, ITV recently defended its decision to air some of its most popular entertainment shows – including ‘The Masked Dancer’ – following the death of Queen Elizabeth.
The broadcaster said in a statement: “All programmes were pre-recorded before the sad news of Her Majesty The Queen’s passing.
“ITV’s main channel will continue to make changes to its schedule to broadcast the important state events of the coming days culminating in the historic state funeral with extensive and dedicated news coverage from our news teams.
“ITV will also be showing a number of documentaries about the Queen and the new King over the coming days. No advertising will run during any of the Royal coverage.”

Martin Lewis gives away 100k to charity live on Good Morning Britain

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Lewis gave away nearly £100,000 of his own money to charity live on today’s (14.09.22) ‘Good Morning Britain’.
The 50-year-old Money Saving Expert was interviewing Saleem Shafi, deputy chief executive officer of financial advice charity Money Buddies, alongside his co-host Susanna Reid when he made an incredible gesture to donate 10 per cent of the £975,000 Saleem admitted would make a “big difference” to the aid organisation.
When asked how much money is needed to help people, Saleem replied: “It’s interesting. I had a meeting yesterday and I think £975,000 would make a big difference to our charity in terms of how many people we can help.”
Martin replied: “I’ve given to you before. I’ll give 10 per cent of that.”
Saleem said: “Thank you, Martin.”
Susanna then said: “Thank you for generosity. I think we’ll all pitch in.”
Also during the show, Martin fought back tears as he discussed how he was nearly the same age as Prince Harry when they both lost their mothers following road traffic accidents.
Martin’s mum, Susan Lewis, was killed by a lorry while out horse riding – three days before Martin turned 12 years old – while Princess Diana died following a car crash in Paris in August 1997 when Harry was 12.
While discussing reports that Princes William and Harry are to walk alongside their father King Charles behind Queen Elizabeth’s coffin ahead of her funeral, following her death last week aged 96 – as they did at the funeral of their mother Princess Diana – Martin said: “I wasn’t going to say this on air but it resonates with me very powerfully for someone who lost his mother at the same age as Harry in a road traffic accident.
“I find it very difficult to watch. Thank goodness I wasn’t made to walk behind. I didn’t even go. It does bring back some…”
Martin then urged Susanna to “carry on” as he composed himself.

Oti Mabuse to present new game show The Tower

OHMYGOSSIP — Oti Mabuse will present a new game show, ‘The Tower’.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional dancer has found a new gig after her previous hosting endeavour ‘Romeo and Duet’ was axed after one series.
According to The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column, the new entertainment format has been described as “a TV quiz show first” and it is said to be “set in a unique world”.
It is being brought to life by the same production company that delivers hits such as ‘Escape To The Chateau’, which airs on Channel 4.
In an appeal for contestants, production said: “Star of ‘Strictly’, ‘Dancing on Ice’ and ‘The Masked Dancer’ Oti Mabuse is looking for outgoing, lively and knowledgeable teams of two to be part of a TV quiz show first – ‘The Tower’.
“Set in a unique world, your general knowledge, strategic thinking and judgement will be tested to the max in this exciting new game.
“Teams of friends, family, colleagues or partners battle to win a cash prize. Be part of something extraordinary.”
The pilot episode will be filmed in Manchester next month and a “major broadcaster” is being tipped to commission a full series.
This comes after Oti’s previous stint hosting ‘Romeo and Duet’ was not renewed for a second series after suitors looking to woo a potential date via Shakespearean serenading failed to become a TV sensation.
An insider explained: “The feeling was that it wasn’t a case of Oti not being right for the show, more that the show wasn’t right for Oti.
“We’ve seen on ‘The Masked Dancer’ just how her infectious energy and humour works best in a less-scripted, more conversational setting.
“As host of a quiz show, Oti will have the chance to banter with contestants as well as use her presence to hold the show together.
“Everyone is very excited about ‘The Tower’.”

Adam Thomas confirms restaurant closure

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Emmerdale’ star Adam Thomas has announced the closure of his much-loved restaurant The Spinn.
Adam’s childhood dreams came to fruition when he opened the burger joint in Gatley, Manchester, alongside his childhood friend Scott Graham back in 2019.
However, The Spinn has been closed and boarded up in the past week, and locals were left wondering whether the restaurant had been closed for refurbishment or for good.
The 32-year-old soap star confirmed to the Manchester Evening News: “Unfortunately we have decided to close The Spinn. We did what we had to do with The Spinn and we learnt so much building our first venture and more importantly we had an absolute blast …
“But after three years we felt the time was right for us to move on. We are now focusing on the next chapter of The Spinn … The Spinn Off and Oh My Glaze.
“With the success The Spinn Off is having and Oh My Glaze, we wanted to concentrate on building and expanding them and in order for us to do so we had to close The Spinn.”
The duo are set to focus on the “next chapter” with their recently launched The Spin Off bar at Stockport’s Underbanks, as well as their burger sauce company Oh My Glaze – which hosted a burger and fries pop-up at the Trafford Centre earlier this year.
Since high school, Adam and Scott spoke about going into business together, and while Adam moved into acting after secondary school, Scott, 33, successfully launched Oh My Glaze.
It wasn’t until a spontaneous night out at a casino, the two vowed that if they won the roulette wheel, they’d finally go ahead with the launch.
The winning spin of the roulette was the inspiration behind the name of the business, as the pair saw it as a sign.

Gogglebox’s Malone family explain absence

OHMYGOSSIP — The Malone family will return to ‘Gogglebox’ after their Florida holiday.
The Manchester-based brood aren’t on their beloved sofa because they took a jaunt to Disneyland across the pond, but fans were left concerned for their whereabouts on the Channel 4 show.
Tom Snr took to his wife Julie’s Instagram to explain, saying: “Right here we are on holiday”.
Julie, son Shaun and daughter Vanessa could be seen grinning in the foreground.
He then quipped: “Jesus Christ, it doesn’t feel like one with this lot, I can tell you that.
“We’re in Florida so we’re not there for the first couple of shows are we? Starting Friday [September 9].”
With the signature EPCOT as a backdrop, he took the opportunity to crack another joke.
Tom said: “We’re here obviously – as you can tell behind us the Menai Bridge, we’re in Anglesey. You know… it’s a bit of a drive back but we’ll do our best.”
Julie joined in, replying: “I thought it was Blackpool Tower?”, prompting Tom to do a double take of his environment.
He said: “I stand corrected … Blackpool Tower. See you in a couple of weeks. Enjoy the show, it starts without us but we’ll be back soon.”
Viewers could be forgiven for thinking the Malone family had been axed from the Channel 4 show as Tom Malone Jr – the son of Julie and Tom Sr – left the programme in Feburary 2021 to star in other TV projects, such as ‘The Real Dirty Dancing’ on E4 and ‘Celebrity Coach Trip’ with his girlfriend, fellow dancer Bryony Briscoe.
Recently, the 28-year-old TikToker revealed he had been diagnosed as autistic.
He said: “I’ve always felt a bit different, a bit socially awkward and like I just don’t process things in the same way as everybody else. Finally, I have an explanation. I’ve recently been diagnosed as autistic.
“Something that both makes sense to me whilst at the same time is something completely new to learn about and understand more about why I am the way I am.
“Now begins the journey. This one goes out to all the kids that have ever felt misunderstood due to being a little bit different.”

Jennifer Ellison: Celebrity SAS show is the ‘best therapy ever’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Ellison says ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ is the “best therapy ever”.
The 39-year-old actress was embroiled in a tumultuous relationship in 1999 aged 16 years old with a gangster lover who she alleges subjected her to a catalogue of abuse, including smashing glass bottles over her head and breaking her collar bone.
After years of domestic abuse, the former ‘Brookside’ star plucked up the courage to leave and has since married Rob Tickle, who she wed in 2009 in a secret ceremony in Mauritius while six months pregnant.
Since appearing on Channel 4’s fourth series of ‘Celebrity SAS’, the married mum of three – who has sons Bobby, 12, Harry, seven, and Charlie six with Rob – broke down in tears as it opened up a lot of old wounds.
Jennifer revealed her traumatic past to former Commando Jason “Foxy” Fox in Sunday night’s (11.09.22) episode.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “You get broken down that much so when someone says, ‘Right, tell me about you’, it literally just takes over your whole body and just comes out.
“It’s almost like you go back to that place and you need to get it off your chest. It’s crazy, honestly.
“Foxy’s like, ‘Listen, you need to believe in yourself more, don’t let the past define you’. He spoke to me and he’s so strong. I was just in awe.
“It was a volatile relationship and he was connected with this other world, this gangland world.
“For years and years I thought that life was normal and bad things like that happened to everyone because it happened in the world I was in. I was having nails in my letter box, going into hiding and fearing for your life walking down the street. That’s not normal.
Jennifer admits she just “buried” her pain at the time, but now realises what went on was “so horrific”.
She added: “It’s just been one of those things that I kind of buried, just kind of got on with life and got on with everything.”
“I look back and think how it was so traumatic. It was so horrific what I was going through. I was such a young girl, I was a baby.
“I feel like opening up in the mirror room about that has put that part of my life to bed. It was like the best therapy session ever.”

Matt Hancock ‘approached to appear on Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins’

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Hancock has been approached to appear on the next series of ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’.
The former Health Secretary could be the first sitting MP to take part in the star-studded military endurance Channel 4 show, which is currently airing and featuring a diverse array of contestants, such as Olympic javelin thrower Fatima Whitbread, actress Jennifer Ellison and television personality Amber Gill.
The 43-year-old Conservative politician is said to have met with producers earlier this month and could use the opportunity to reshake his image after he was caught kissing his aide Gina Coladangelo amid the COVID-19 pandemic, when social distancing guidance was in place.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Matt impressed ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ producers when he spoke to them and they want him to take part.
“He would be the biggest name to have signed up for the next series and it would be a real coup for the show.
“Matt knows there is a mixed perception of him in the public eye and he thinks going on the show would reveal a different side to himself.
“It is not unusual for MPs to take part in these kinds of shows and Matt thinks he could go far on SAS, despite it being the hardest of all the reality series on television.”
A spokesperson for the parliamentary representative for West Suffolk claimed he hadn’t “signed up for anything”.
They told the publication: “Matt gets a huge number of offers and is asked to appear on TV shows all the time but he has not signed up to anything.”
When he served in Cabinet in his ex position, Matt – who would be whipped into shape by host Rudy Reyes and others if he did join the army reality show – emphasised the importance of exercise in creating a healthy society.
He said: “One of the reasons we’ve had such a bad time of COVID is that we’re one of the fattest countries in Europe and we need to tackle that.
“The way to do that is supporting people and motivating people to do what’s right for them and what’s right by the NHS. It’s a call to action, a national effort that we need.”

Jordan Peele teases extended cut of Nope

OHMYGOSSIP — Jordan Peele has teased that an extended cut of ‘Nope’ could be on the way.
The 43-year-old director was at the helm of the 2022 neo-Western science fiction horror film – which starred Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer as a brother and sister attempting to capture evidence of a UFO – and while he can “neither confirm nor deny anything” about more footage, is hoping that audiences will “see more” of the movie at some point in the future
Asked specifically about releasing an extended cut, he said: ” “I can neither confirm nor deny anything of the sort. It’s like, ‘Oh, s***.’ There’s been a lot of response to people sort of finding things in the trailer that aren’t in the actual movie. I can say, I do think people will see more in the future. That’s kind of all I really can say. I’m hopeful.”
The former ‘MADTV’ star went on to explain that there is a lot of “enthusiasm” for the film and feels very “energised” by the fact that fans seem to want more from him.
He told Collider: “There’s a lot of in enthusiasm clearly to sort of dig into the layers of this film. And it’s one of the things that I am most excited by, is that I think there’s a sense that people do see that we haven’t cheated, we’ve made a film that if you watch it, it’s telling a story and the pieces of the puzzle that feel like they’re missing upon another viewing, reveal themselves to not be missing. And so I’m very energized by the fact that people want more from this story.”

Baz Luhrmann open to releasing 4-hour Elvis cut

OHMYGOSSIP — Baz Luhrmann is open to the idea of releasing a four-hour version of his ‘Elvis’ film – but insists it won’t drop now and “probably not next year” either.
The 59-year-old director recently helmed the two-hour 39-minutes movie, which stars Austin Butler as titular music legend Elvis Presley, and afterwards revealed there was a longer cut in existence.
While he joked film fans are “at his gates with pitchforks” demanding the extended version be released, Luhrmann insists it is a complex process.
He said: “Not now, and not probably next year. But I don’t close my mind to the idea that in the future, there might be a way of exploring another [cut].
“I’ve got to be really careful here, because the moment I put it out there … I tell you what, all my tweets are nothing but, ‘We want the four-hour version! We want the four-hour version!’ I think people are at my gates with pitchforks saying, ‘We want the four-hour version!’
“But I don’t close my mind to the idea that there would be an extended cut.
“Right now, with how long it’s stayed in the theaters and how well it’s done, it’s crossed the line.
“But it’s done so well on HBO Max over the weekend, so it’s about the parent company going, ‘Wow, it’s really worth spending the money.’ ”
Luhrmann admits it would take around four to six months of editing before the four-hour cut is ready.
He added to Screen Rant: “Because it isn’t just like I’ve got it, and you just put it out there. Every minute in post-production, you have to do visual effects, grading, cutting, refining, and ADR sound.
“It’s not like it’s just sitting there finished, and I can just push a button and it comes out.
“You’d have to get back in and work on it. To do an extended cut, you’d be working on it for another four or six months something.
“I’m not closed to it, but not now. I’m a little bit on the tired side.”
In June, Luhrmann confirmed there is a longer ‘Elvis’ cut around, following the movie’s release.
He said: “I mean, I have a four-hour version, actually. I do. But you have to bring it down to 2 hours 30.”
The filmmaker also admitted he would’ve like to have included more about Elvis’ romance with his first girlfriend, Dixie, as well as his relationship with his band in the motion picture.
The film tells of Elvis’ childhood and his rise to stardom as well as his relationship with his manager Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks).
Luhrmann added: “I would have liked to lean into some of the other things more – there’s so much more.
“I mean, there’s lots of stuff that I shot like the relationship with the band, I had to pare [that] down – and it’s so interesting how the Colonel [Tom Parker, played by Tom Hanks] gets rid of them.
“The relationship with his first girlfriend, Dixie, you know. And later on how… once he’s caught in a trap, and he’s discombobulated and doesn’t understand … someone who’s got such a hole in his heart like Elvis constantly looking and searching for love and finding it on stage but nowhere else.”
