Joe Swash ‘flies to South Africa for I’m A Celebrity All Stars’

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Swash has reportedly flown to South Africa for ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor – who won the 2008 series and went onto host its ITV2 sister show for a decade until 2019 – is said to be lined up to return to the reality show for its special All Stars version, which will be pre-recorded to air in 2023.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Joe was always on the producers’ hit list as he was such an iconic winner.
“But they had to iron out the timings and came to a conclusion that worked.
“He has flown out there and can’t wait to give a good account of himself for a second time on the show.”
According to the outlet, Joe is currently filming at Kruger National Park.
The report comes after his wife Stacey Solomon hinted he was abroad for a work trip, as she shared a photo of herself with son Rex, three, and daughter Rose, who turns one next week.
She wrote: “Since Joe’s been away the last couple of weeks, these two have got so close to each other and every morning they get into bed with me.”
‘I’m A Celebrity’ presenters Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly recently confirmed the spin-off series as they shared a video from South Africa.
Dec said in the video: “We can confirm we’re doing a very special series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in South Africa. Look at this joint.”
Ant quipped: “Nobody told me,” before saying: “We’re here, aren’t we?”
Dec continued: “It’s going to be your favourite celebrities from the last 20 years who are going back in to do it one more time in South Africa.”
The Geordie due also teased the debut date of this year’s main ‘I’m A Celebrity’ run, which is returning Down Under after two years in North Wales’ Gwrych Castle, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ant asked his long-running co-star: “But are we going to Australia, Declan?”
Dec replied: “Yes we are. This year we are going back. Normal Australia 2022 and South Africa 2023.”

This Morning’s agony aunt Deidre Sanders has breast cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — This Morning’s agony aunt Deidre Sanders has breast cancer.
The 77-year-old star missed out on an invite for a mammogram when she turned 70 due to an NHS “error”, but she now has surgery booked for this weekend to remove a “teeny, tiny carcinoma”, a cluster of malignant cells in a duct in her right breast.
In a piece for The Sun newspaper – for whom she was an agony aunt for 40 years – Deidre wrote: “The cells were malignant and I now have NHS surgery booked to remove the carcinoma this Saturday.
“How long is it since you had a mammogram?” the consultant asked at that initial appointment.
“The answer was nearly 10 years, because I happen to be among a cohort of several thousand women who, by error, did not get invited for a mammogram when they turned 70.
“We were offered it a couple of years later, but by then I reckoned I must be too old to need it any more as the NHS stops inviting you for a screening after that age. Hah!”
Deidre – who retired at the end of 2020 – admitted her malignant cells were marked as “high-grade”, meaning they could “grow and spread aggressively” had they not been discovered so early.
She will open up further about her story on ‘This Morning’ today (27.09.22), when she plans to urge other women to go for breast screenings when they are invited, and also encourage those over 70 to use their right to request a screening every three years.

Bill Nighy unaware of Oscars hype for Living

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Nighy is unaware of the Oscars buzz surrounding his new film ‘Living’.
The 72-year-old actor plays the lead role of Mr. Williams in the 1950s set movie and his performance has been met with acclaim and tips for success at the Academy Awards, but the star isn’t aware of the fuss.
Bill told Variety: “I don’t get out much, so I really haven’t heard anything about it.
“I’m not being cute, I assure you. If the film were honoured in that way, it would be absolutely marvellous. I want people to watch it. If the Academy were to decide to nominate us in any way, it would be an enormous thing for us.”
The ‘Love Actually’ star admitted that he struggled with the period dress for the film, in which he plays a bureaucrat facing a fatal illness in 1953 London.
Bill explained: “I had to wear a bowler hat, and they are absolutely bizarre. How they caught on, I’ll never know.
“If a brick fell on your head from a very great height, you’d be fine. If you fell off a horse or a motorbike, you’d emerge unscathed. You could go to war with that hat on and be well protected.”
Nighy revealed that the “Englishness” of Mr. Williams was a big appeal in taking on the part.
He said: “I’m interested in what’s usually referred to or what they call ‘Englishness’.
“I don’t think those characteristics are actually exclusive to England, but there is something about their chosen manners, their chosen style, the way they respond emotionally to things in Britain in the past century that is appealing.
“I am very interested in the degree of restraint that they showed. It’s often disparaged as a kind of denial of emotion that is inauthentic. I disagree with that.”

Sofia Carson joins Netflix thriller Carry On

OHMYGOSSIP — Sofia Carson has been cast in ‘Carry On’.
The ‘Purple Hearts’ star has joined an ensemble for the Netflix thriller that includes Taron Egerton, Jason Bateman and the newly-confirmed Danielle Deadwyler.
The movie centres on Ethan Kopek – a young TSA agent who gets blackmailed by a mysterious traveller to allow a dangerous package to slip through security and onto a Christmas Day flight.
Sources close to the film say that Jason will be playing the mysterious traveller.
TJ Fixman wrote the original draft of the screenplay and Michael Green has completed the latest polish. Jaume Collet-Serra is to direct the movie.
Dylan Clark will produce while Holly Bario – Amblin’s president of production – will oversee on behalf of the studio. The movie marks the first project to come from the overall deal the streaming giant signed with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Productions last year.
Sources claimed that ‘Rocketman’ star Taron wanted to star in the film from the moment he read the script and has formed a good working relationship with Collet-Serra.
Sofia previously starred in the Disney original film series ‘Descendants’ and explained that she had a tremendous amount of respect for Disney alumni – including Zendaya, Selena Gomez and Zac Efron.
The 29-year-old star said: “Just saying those names is always the most surreal thing, to be in that same sentence. Not only did I grow up loving Disney and being obsessed with Disney Channel, but to be a part of this family and a part of that legacy is such an honour.
“I have crossed paths with Selena and Zendaya a few times, I admire them both immensely… Zendaya and Selena have been trailblazers. They changed the perception of the Disney Star. But, most importantly they have used their platforms and voices to communicate and share important messages to their fans and beyond. I hope to do the same with my career!”

Explosive exit planned for Janine Butcher as she leaves Albert Square…

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Brooks is leaving ‘EastEnders’ 18 months after making a return.
The 41-year-old actress initially starred as Janine Butcher on the BBC One soap opera from 1999 until 2004, then again from 2008 until 2014 and made a comeback to the show in 2021 but will depart Albert Square once more in scenes to be aired in 2023.
She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “I was only ever due back to ‘EastEnders’ for a year, but when [exec producer] Chris Clenshaw presented me with his idea for the story, I couldn’t say no to staying a little longer. But as always with Janine, she probably should not outstay her welcome — for everyone’s sake.”
Bosses are said to be brining back Janine’s brother Ricky – played by Sid Owen – after a break of more than 10 years as part of the exit storyline, but have otherwise remained tight-lipped on how the “dramatic” scenes will play out.
A source added: “Bosses are staying tight-lipped about her dramatic exit, but massive stories are planned for the rest of the year and for 2023.”
Back in June 2021, former ‘, ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here’ winner Charlie explained that it was “so good” to be back on the show and was looking forward to finding out what Janine – who famously pushed her husband Barry off a cliff back in 204 – had been up to in her time away.
She said: “I am beyond excited to be slipping back into Janine’s shoes and returning to the square. The time feels right and I can’t wait to find out what she’s been up to for the last seven years!”

The Great British Bake Off’s Rebs and Abdul to miss Bread Week

OHMYGOSSIP — The Great British Bake Off’s Rebs and Abdul will miss Bread Week due to illness.
The 23-year-old student and the 29-year-old electronics engineer were given special permission to advance through to the next round on the Channel 4 baking competition after they were deemed too sick to have their doughy creations judged by Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, in Tuesday’s episode (27.09.22), show host Matt Lucas tells the rest of the tent: “Both Rebs and Abdul are a bit under the weather this week.”
He then jokes: “But with your permission, we thought we’d send them both straight through to the final.”
Matt’s co-host Noel Fielding clarifies, telling the competitors: “Only joking, they’re going to miss a week and hopefully they’ll be back next week.”
Tonight’s episode will see everyone do their best to make their dough rise to the challenge, in a bid to receive a trademark handshake from Paul, who is known for his bakes.
Paul, 56, and Prue, 82, have already sent two bakers packing since the start of the series.
Maisam, an 18-year-old student, got the boot but deemed the show “just the start” of her “baking journey”.
After failing to wow with her Biscuit Week showstopper, she said: “This isn’t the end of my baking journey, it’s just the start.”
Prue called her 3D mask creation “simple but effective”, and Paul said the colours she used were “fantastic”.
The week prior, Will became the first contestant to be sent packing at the end of Cake Week.
On his departure, the 45-year-old charity director said: “Someone’s got to go first and obviously I’m disappointed but I’m proud to have made it.
“There’s a lovely bunch of people I’ve met and I’ve got an experience that I can definitely talk about and share. I’m proud of that.”

Will Mellor vows to flirt with Strictly judges in bid to win Glitterball trophy

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Mellor has vowed to flirt with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judges Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas to improve his chances of winning the show.
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ actor has joked he will turn his charm on to try to impress the panellists, who also include Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke, in a bid to clinch the Glitterball trophy.
He told Radio Times magazine: “I’ve been known to flirt a little bit to get judges on my side – so I might flirt a little bit with Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood!”
But Will may not need to get his flirt on to be successful in this year’s 20th series, after he and wildlife presenter Hamza Yassin both topped the leaderboard with scores of 34 out of 40 after last weekend’s first live show.
It may not have come as a surprise to punters, as Will was the most popular pick to win the show prior to Friday night’s (23.09.22) launch episode.
According to Ladbrokes, Will topped the charts in terms of bets placed with 16.5 per cent, followed by Bros singer Matt Goss with 13.5 per cent, and ex-‘Coronation Street’ star Kym Marsh with 12.9 per cent.
Will was third favourite to win the series ahead of the first live episode, behind ‘Countryfile’ host Helen Skelton and radio presenter Fleur East, but after topping the leaderboard, he is now the favourite.
But the 46-year-old star – who is partnered with ‘Strictly’ professional dancer Nancy Xu – did have an injury concern before dancing live for the first time, after he suffered some knee pain during rehearsals.
In a video showing him icing his knee with a bag of frozen peas, he said: “Just in rehearsal for Strictly. Will’s knees sponsored by peas. I’m knackered.”
Alongside the clip, he wrote: “In rehearsal for @bbcstrictly!! My knees are in shock!! #tooldforthis #strictlycomedancing #dancing #badknees #shattered. (sic)

Richard Hammond: I thought James May was dead after horror crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Hammond feared James May was dead after his horror crash while filming ‘The Grand Tour’.
The 52-year-old TV presenter feared the worst when his 59-year-old co-host smashed his motor up while shooting a stunt in Norway for their Amazon Prime Video show.
Speaking on ‘The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X’, he said: “I don’t know what came over him, genuinely, I don’t […] he really wanted to win. But he came through.
“We were genuinely concerned and I thought my mate was dead.
“We ran up that tunnel thinking … and then saw the car and thought ‘Oh God!’ ”
James’ crash came while he was filming a stunt which involved driving down a dark tunnel and the star was meant to stop before he hit a wall.
Richard explained: “I don’t know why we thought it was a good idea.
“The challenge was to drive down a dark tunnel, the lights came on as you passed them, and it did end in – very much as James discovered – like a wall.
“And it was to see which of us could get to the highest top speed, and then break, and then – key bit – stop before hitting the wall. Jeremy [Clarkson] went first, quite brisk, wahey!
“I was waiting to go last, James went second, very brisk departure and didn’t stop.”
Richard recently admitted he was “surprised” James’s limbs “didn’t just fall off” after his crash.
He said: “It was a moment of singular lack of judgment on James’ part. He’s not that well strapped together.
“He once told me, ‘Hammond, exercise makes you stupid’, so he doesn’t do any at all.
“He’s sort of held together with bits of cotton and sponge. So it was a hell of an impact. It’s pretty dramatic. And I was surprised that all his limbs didn’t just fall off.”
Tune into ‘The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X’, weekdays from 6:30am – 10am and Saturdays 8am – 11am

Queen Elizabeth chatted about hotpot on Coronation Street set

OHMYGOSSIP — Sally Ann Matthews and Queen Elizabeth chatted about hotpot when the monarch visited the ‘Coronation Street’ set last year.
The queen – who died on September 8th aged 96 – visited the ITV soap at Manchester’s MediaCityUK in July 2021, and Sally (Jenny Connor) has told how the late royal had the “sparkliest, smiley eyes” and enjoyed talking about the show’s fictional Rovers Return pub’s signature dish.
She said: “We were still operating under COVID restrictions so we were all at two metres.
“It was phenomenal and she had the sparkliest, smiley eyes you’ve ever seen and I chatted to her about take-away hotpot.”
Sally was impressed with how engaged the monarch was considering how many visits she made over the years.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, Sally added: “She was so engaged and for someone who’s met everybody and does three or four engagements in a day she listened to everybody and you could see she was taking it all in.
“We were all in the Rovers practising our curtsy.”
Upon her visit to the ‘Corrie’ set last year, the queen was greeted by soap stalwarts William Roache – who plays Ken Barlow, the soap’s longest-serving character – Barbara Knox (Rita Tanner), Sue Nicholls (Audrey Roberts) and Helen Worth (Gail Platt) outside the Rovers Return.
She looked delighted to meet the ‘Corrie’ quartet, and during her cobbles visit – to celebrate the show’s 60th anniversary – she learned how the soap adapted its filming process amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Upon her arrival, the monarch was greeted by ITV’s chairman Sir Peter Bazalgette, and John Whiston, managing director of continuing drama.
She later headed to a different part of the studios to go inside the Rovers, where she met other cast members, including Sally Dynevor (Sally Metcalfe), Alison King (Carla Connor), Shelley King (Yasmeen Metcalfe), Jane Danson (Leanne Battersby) and Colson Smith (Craig Tinker).
The queen walked off the cobbles, down a red carpet, to the iconic ‘Corrie’ theme tune playing in the background. During her visit, she was presented with her very own cobble.

Joanne Clifton joins Strictly Come Dancing It Takes Two full-time

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanne Clifton has joined ‘Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two’ full-time.
The 38-year-old professional dancer – who is the sister of fellow former ‘Strictly’ pro Kevin Clifton – is “incredibly honoured” to be taking full control of presenting the Choreography Corner, a much-loved segment on the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition’s companion show, which is presented by Rylan Clark and Janette Manrara.
Joanne – who won the Glitterball trophy in 2016 with her celeb partner Ore Oduba – told the Radio Times magazine: “I am so incredibly honoured to be taking the lead with Choreography Corner this year!
“‘Strictly’ has been – and continues to be – a massive part of my life.
“I’ve always had a brilliant time on ‘It Takes Two’ and it has been a joy to be able to come back and visit my Strictly family since hanging up the sequins in 2016.
“To be a part of the ‘It Takes Two’ team is an absolute dream come true and I look forward to seeing the fab-u-lous class of 2022 strut their stuff!”
Eve Winstanley, the spin-off’s executive producer, said: “We are so happy to have Joanne Clifton joining the ‘It Takes Two’ family this series.
“As a former ‘Strictly’ champ we couldn’t be in better hands as she takes the reins of Choreography Corner.”
Current ‘Strictly’ competitor and Bros star Matt Goss appeared on Monday’s edition (26.09.22) of the show and spoke about “constructive criticism”.
The 53-year-old 80s pop icon said: “Everyone seemed to get constructive criticism and then to say, ‘Well, I don’t quite know what it was but …’ Well, I want to know what it was.”
Matt praised judge Craig Revel Horwood – who sits alongside Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke on the panel – for his comments about his “frame”.
He said: “I did find great comfort in Craig – I never thought I’d be able to say that in week one. He did say he liked the routine but, again, he mentioned my frame. But he went on to say I will learn about my frame, which is the whole point.
“Motsi – she’s dead right. I was into the dance but she wanted to feel me more. And that’s what I needed. I needed that critique that I can actually go back and use, you know?”
Nadiya added: “I’m not a judge but I am a professional dancer and I think they were a bit harsh to be honest.”

Rachel Zegler was frightened of Snow White animated film

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Zegler was scared of the animated ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ film.
The 21-year-old actress will play the lead role in Disney’s live-action version of the movie but revealed that she does not have fond memories of the story from her childhood.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rachel said: “I was scared of the original cartoon. I think I watched it once, and then I never picked it up again.
“I’m being so serious, I watched it once, and then I went on the ride in DisneyWorld, which is called, ‘Snow White’s Scary Adventures’, doesn’t sound like something a little kid would like, was terrified of it, never revisited ‘Snow White’ again. So, I watched it for the first time in probably 16, 17 years when I was doing this film.”
Gal Gadot will star in the film, due to be released in 2024, as the Evil Queen and revealed that she wants to be an “interesting” villain.
The ‘Wonder Woman’ actress said: “I wanted to make sure that we keep her delightful and delicious, and we understand what makes her tick. Then the evilness is interesting, and not just flat.”
Rachel previously said that she was shocked to be given the opportunity to play Snow White as an actress of Latin descent.
The ‘West Side Story’ star said: “Never in a million years did I imagine that this would be a possibility for me.
“You don’t normally see Snow Whites that are of Latin descent. Even though Snow White is really a big deal in Spanish-speaking countries. ‘Blancanieves’ is a huge icon whether you’re talking about the Disney cartoon or just different iterations and the Grimm fairy tale and all the stories that come with it.
“But you don’t particularly see people who look like me or are me playing roles like that.”

Bruce Willis and Marilyn Monroe could star together thanks to AI trickery

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Willis could feature alongside Marilyn Monroe in a Hollywood blockbuster with the magic of artificial intelligence.
The ‘Die Hard’ star, who stepped away from acting earlier this year after being diagnosed with aphasia – a condition that affects language and speech – has become the first Hollywood star to sell his rights to the tech firm Deepcake, allowing his moving and talking image to be used in films and TV.
Movie actors past and present are now able to star on screen together, as revealed in a new documentary ‘Tech To The Future’.
The groundbreaking deal paves the way for dead performers to be brought back to life, with Bruce “starring” in a Russian phone advert with engineers attaching his digitally-created head to a human body double.
The documentary’s director Sandro Monetti has argued that the development could change Hollywood forever as Deepcake aims to become the biggest global talent agency.
He said: “They are thinking bigger than just using this tech for cool Instagram reels.
“Deepcake wants a large slice of the Hollywood money pie – and if it can get the rights to stars living and dead, they might well get it.
“This development upends the film’s industry – it’s not a death knell for current stars but a new opportunity.
“Actors of today now have the chance to share the screen with classic idols like Cary Grant or Marilyn Monroe. If this tech had been available just a bit earlier, we could have seen Elvis in his own biopic.”
Deepcake CEO Maria Chmir has confirmed that talks are being held with film studios and the estates of late stars.
She said: “We create digital twins of celebrities and the actual production process doesn’t require the physical presence of a celebrity on stage. It means comics like Charlie Chaplin and Kevin Hart can interact in one frame now.”

Eamonn Holmes to undergo back surgery he prays will help restore him to ‘man he used to be’

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes is taking a break from presenting to undergo back surgery he is praying will help restore him to the “man he used to be”.
The former This Morning host, 62, told fans surgeons will operate to relieve pressure on his sciatic nerves.
He said in his column for Express.co.uk on Tuesday (27.09.22): “This week a surgeon will cut into my back to hopefully relieve pressure on my sciatic nerves.
“It’s an operation that carries a 20% risk of going wrong, but such is the pain and restrictions that I have been suffering for the past 18 months, I’ve decided it is a risk I am willing to take.
“In fact, it’s a risk I want to take because, at this moment in time, nothing could seem worse than the constant pain that runs through my lower back and legs.
“Yet, in many ways, I am fortunate. However horrible the pain is at times, there are lots of other people out there who have it far worse than I do. I know this because they write to me every day on social media and tell me how they are getting on or, in a lot of cases, how much they are suffering.”
Dad-of-four Eamonn, who shares one his children with second wife Ruth Langsford, 62, added he was “sorry” Britain had a “pain epidemic” with millions of people “crying out” in agony from their conditions.
He said: “I’m sorry to say we have a pain epidemic in this country. Millions of people – regardless of their age and status – are literally crying out in pain.
“Their reasons vary, but the pain they feel doesn’t. It can be linked to genetics, it might be linked to accidents, or down to their age. Sometimes it’s wear and tear.
“The list goes on – yet so does their agony. That agony comes in different forms – it can be muscular, breakages, nerves, infection, and, the one that’s not talked about enough – the mental suffering linked to chronic pain.”
Eamonn added the times when he has reached out on social media during his periods of extreme pain the response has been “off the scale” and “overwhelming”.
His admissions come after he was rushed to hospital earlier this year for “unexpected” emergency treatment on his back.
Eamonn also suffered a slipped disk in his back last year in a freak accident, and has told how sleep has been his “escape” from agony.
He added in his Express column he is praying “God will guide my surgeon’s hand this week and help me get back to the man I used to be”.
