Drew Starkey thinks erotic scenes are a vital part of cinema

OHMYGOSSIP — Drew Starkey thinks erotic scenes are an important part of cinema.
The 30-year-old actor shares many intimate scenes with co-star Daniel Craig in the new romantic drama film ‘Queer’ and is puzzled by the “uptight” attitude that some audiences have towards raunchy content.
Drew told The Hollywood Reporter: “I think as American audiences, we can be very uptight about that stuff, sex scenes, whatever, which is strange.
“It feels a little prudish to be like ‘ooh if that’s in a movie that taboo’ but if it’s on our phones, it’s fine.
“(I’m glad) sexuality is coming back to the theatres because I think it’s imperative we integrate sexuality into our stories, it’s the way to better understand ourselves. You learn so much about a person by looking at the way they are intimate with one another.”
Drew recalled how he and Daniel immediately got to work on getting a sense of “familiarity with each other” once production had begun.
The ‘Outer Banks’ star said: “We jumped into it, just grabbing and throwing our bodies on top of one another, rolling around, getting intermingled.
“I think it unlocked something subconsciously, gave us a level of comfortability and familiarity with each other, so that, everything after that was very easy.”
Starkey plays Eugene Allerton in Luca Guadagnino’s picture and confessed that he was “daunted” by the part initially.
He said: “It was different than most of the characters I’ve played. There’s so much subtlety and delicacy to it. It was a real challenge because no one can read him, no one understands him, least of all (Craig’s character) Lee. So it was my job to try, as best I could, to understand what was going on inside this guy.”

‘No truth to it whatsoever’: Edward Berger dismisses rumours he could direct next James Bond film

OHMYGOSSIP — Edward Berger has dismissed speculation that he could direct the next James Bond film.
The Oscar-winning director has been tipped to helm the new beginning for the 007 franchise after the departure of Daniel Craig but says there is “no truth” to the talk.
Edward told Deadline: “That’s an absolute rumour. There’s no truth to it whatsoever. I would be very grateful if you put out that fire.”
The ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ helmer stressed that the creative choices for the next Bond flick are down to producer Barbara Broccoli and he is confident that her decisions will be right for the franchise.
He said: “Barbara Broccoli is a wonderful producer. She will know what to do at the right time, and it’s her family legacy. It’s her job to protect this and whatever choice she’s going to make is going to be the right choice for the legacy of that genre.”
Edward earned awards recognition for his 2022 war movie ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ but explained that he has no desire to revisit the genre again.
The 54-year-old filmmaker said: “I can’t put my finger on it, but maybe you learn certain things or I tried things that didn’t work or worked. I don’t need to try it again.
“I’ve proven that to myself and next time I want to prove myself something else and be afraid again of a different task.
“Now, I wouldn’t be afraid of a war movie, but it wouldn’t be the same challenge. I would think, you know what? I might be a little bit bored doing it. It’s little things where you go, you become more mature, you grow up, you want to explore something else of yourself.”

Chris McCausland: I have no idea how I’ll perform on Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris McCausland has “no idea” how he’ll fare on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 47-year-old comedian is the first blind contestant in the show’s history, and Chris has confessed that he’s taking a step into the unknown.
Asked how he’s going to dance without being able to see, Chris told MailOnline: “I have no idea! They asked what they could do because I’ve never seen the show for obvious reasons.
“I can’t even go back and watch it to see what it involves, how intricate the dances are.
“All we can do is figure it out as we’re going along because I need to be in it and doing it to see what works and what doesn’t.”
Despite this, Chris has been thrilled with the help and support he’s received so far.
The comedy star acknowledged that he’s certain to make “a lot of mistakes” during his time on the BBC show.
Chris – who lost his eyesight in his early 20s due to a hereditary condition called retinitis pigmentosa – shared: “Everyone’s been really flexible, really supportive, and me and my partner are just figuring out ways for them to teach me and for me to learn.
“It’s a learning curve and hopefully the mistakes we make along the way will allow us to have a bit of a laugh, make some funny VTs and show the mistakes, because there will be a lot of mistakes along the way, I imagine.”
Chris ultimately wants to help to change the perception of blind people.
He said: “For me it’s not inspiring, I don’t think blind people need inspiring as much as they need representation.
“I’ve got in a taxi before and someone’s said, ‘oh wow, you did the stairs on your own’.
“People think you can’t do anything if you’re blind.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Miriam Margolyes has quit ‘Call The Midwife’.
The 83-year-old actress joined the BBC period medical drama as Mother Mildred in 2018 on a sporadic basis but her character has not been seen since 2021 and now an insider has confirmed that she will not be back at all.
A source told the Daily Star’s HotTV column: “Miriam loved being part of the show because she absolutely adores it.
“But she is too busy to play Mother Mildred now so there are no plans for her to go back.”
The ‘Harry Potter’ star previously admitted she is quite similar to the formidable Mother Superior and claimed that there was “no acting required” for her to be able to do the part.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “There are considerable similarities. The directness Mother Mildred has is mine.
“I’m very like that. Playing her is what I call NAR – no acting required.
“I enjoyed coming back in April to film the Christmas special. We had a great deal of fun, as we always do.
“It’s about decent people doing decent things and that’s rather rare on TV these days. It’s wholesome but that doesn’t mean it’s dull – it’s gripping.
“There’s a lot of hate about at the moment, a lot of complaining and anger, which I’m not surprised at.
“But when you see a programme about caring, about love and people looking after each other, it feeds the soul.”
Meanwhile, Miriam has been dating Heather Sutherland, 81, since they met while working on a BBC radio drama together in the late 1960s but they have always lived apart and she recently revealed that they have plans to finally move in together.
She told SAGA magazine: “We want to live together now because we haven’t got long left.
“She is 81 and am 83, We don’t know yet how we are going to do that.”

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu had a ‘business relationship’ with Davide Sanclimenti after Love Island win

OHMYGOSSIP — Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu thinks her relationship with Davide Sanclimenti would have been “different” without fame.
The 30-year-old reality star met Davide, 29, on the set of ‘Love Island’ in 2022 and they eventually won the ITV2 dating show together but called it quits in June 2023 and now she has admitted that at some point, it became more of a “business relationship” for them as they carved out careers on social media.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ she said: “I think any relationship amplified under the spotlight is going to be harder. It’s a test, isn’t it? Everyone knows your business, somehow people will say things about your relationship.
“It’s about being grounded and not facing a relationship on social media and [thinking about] how many likes we can get.
“It does turn into a business relationship. It would’ve been different [without the attention] I think.”
Meanwhile, the former ‘Dancing On Ice’ star endured a disastrous run on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’shortly after her split from Davide and “doesn’t regret” signing up for it but admitted it was all the “wrong time” for her to do it, although she has “nothing negative” to say about the experience now.
She said: “For me, look, ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ is a great show and I don’t regret it. I do understand that it was the wrong time for me to go on the show, mainly because I was healing. I wasn’t healed. I was very defensive. When I look back at myself, I can’t recognise myself. Mentioning ‘Love Island’ all the time, being all self-defensive.
“I wouldn’t be that person now. I take accountability for some things that I might have said on there but I forgive and you learn.
“You move on and that’s the past now. I have so much love for everyone on there, I love that people are doing so well on there from the show and I wish them the best. I’ve got nothing negative to say.”

Jamie also revealed that he won’t deny himself any pleasures in his pursuit of glory.
The actor said: “No booze ban for me. I’ve never drunk ever in my life and no one loves me, so I can’t do a sex ban! No bans for me, just loads of food.”

The 29-year-old swimmer – who appeared on the programme in 2022 – revealed that she relished her own time on ‘Strictly’.
Ellie told new! magazine: “They should enjoy every second of it because once you get called up and have your press shots, then meet the hair and make up team, your professional dancer – by week 13 it’s flown by.
“It’s an amazing experience and my advice would be to take in all the make-up, glamorous hair and costumes.
“Cherish the friendships that you make and take lots of photos.”

‘They better be quick’: Sir Ian McKellen wants Lord of the Rings return

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Ian McKellen is hoping to return as Gandalf in the new ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies.
The 85-year-old star played the wizard in Peter Jackson’s original trilogy and is determined to reprise the role in the upcoming set of films that Gollum actor Andy Serkis will direct.
Ian told the Big Issue magazine: “Enthusiasm for ‘The Lord of the Rings’ films shows no sign of abating.
“I can’t tell you any more than that. I’ve just been told that there are going to be more films and Gandalf will be involved and they hope that I’ll be playing him.
“When? I don’t know. What the script is? It’s not written yet. So, they better be quick.”
In a separate interview with BBC Breakfast, he added: “I’m not letting anyone else put on the pointy hat and beard if I can help it.”
McKellen broke his wrist and chipped a vertebra when he fell off the stage during a performance of ‘Player Kings’ in London’s West End in June but declared that he has no intention of retiring from acting.
The ‘X-Men’ star said: “I shall just keep at it as long as the legs and the lungs and the mind keep working.”
McKellen isn’t the only actor to express an interest in returning to the epic fantasy franchise as Elijah Wood said recently that it would be “pretty incredible” if he got the chance to play Frodo Baggins again.
Speaking to JoBlo, he said: “It would be pretty incredible. I have to say, any return to New Zealand to work with those individuals within the context of that world would be … jumping back into a world that’s so beloved and means so much to me. So yeah, it would be awesome.”

Luca Guadagnino sought ‘iconic’ actor for lead role in Queer

OHMYGOSSIP — Luca Guadagnino wanted an “iconic” actor in the lead role for ‘Queer’.
The 53-year-old filmmaker has helmed the historical romantic drama and revealed how he and his agent Bryan Lourd came up with the idea of Daniel Craig starring in the adaptation of William S. Burroughs’ 1985 novel.
Luca told Variety at the Venice Film Festival: “We were chatting about who could be the incarnation (of Burroughs) and I said, ‘I don’t know. I think it should be someone iconic.’ And he said, ‘What about Daniel Craig?’
“I said, ‘Well, I thought about him, but I don’t know. I would never dare to ask. He goes like, ‘Why? He would love that.’
“He gave the script to Daniel, and Daniel and I were on the phone a week later. Then, a week passed, and he was in the movie.”
The former James Bond star has been tipped for an Oscar for his performance in the movie and Luca considers him to be “one of the great actors of his generation”.
The ‘Challengers’ director said: “Daniel is this incredible icon that has drawn audiences all over the world and will do that forever through James Bond.
“But of course, for me, Daniel has also been George Dyer in (John Maybury’s) ‘Love Is the Devil’, where he plays Francis Bacon’s lover.”

“I’ve got ‘Merchant of Venice’ coming up, and I’ve worked solidly over the years. I never thought I would come back [to ‘EastEnders’], but Chris [Clenshaw] absolutely persuaded me and because I think he’s an amazing executive producer, I went with it.
“He loves the show and wants to honour everything about it for the 40th anniversary. I had such a great time, so you know what they say, never say never.”

The 53-year-old presenter returned to her hosting duties on the ‘ITV’ show alongside Ed Balls on Monday this week, but viewers were left surprised when they tuned into the show the next day to see she’d pulled out of the programme at the last minute.
Filling in for her, Ranvir Singh explained: “You’ll be wondering where Susanna is, one of her boys has been taken ill overnight and she needed to stay with him, so we are here for you this morning.”
Earlier this week, Susanna confessed that she had been eager to return to the show.
She said: “I love doing my job – the news agenda has been so busy and I have been avidly watching ‘GMB’ while I have been off. This autumn we have the US Presidential election coming up so that’s going to be huge.”
The presenter revealed she’d spent some of her summer holiday with her sons in Ibiza.
She added: ” This summer I took my boys to Ibiza. I have been going for ten years and it was amazing to really enjoy it with my boys now they are old enough to go clubbing. We go to the day clubs together and then I go back to the hotel and they go to the nightclubs!”

Linda Robson reveals hardest part of single life

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Robson feels like “no one really needs her anymore”.
The ‘Loose Women’ star has opened up about her split from husband Mark Dunford in 2023 after 33 years of marriage, and she admitted the toughest part about being single is not having everyone at home anymore.
She told Best magazine’s ‘Suddenly Single’ podcast: “Not having a house full of people.
“No one really needs me anymore. The kids have all got partners. They’ve moved out.”
The 66-year-old explained that her and Mark’s children Louis and Roberta were the “glue” for their relationship.
She said: “The glue that kept us together was the kids. Once they moved out, there wasn’t much. I’ve been a good mum, a good wife – and now it’s my turn.”
However, Linda insisted she is happy with her “own company” a lot of the time, even if she does end up talking to herself.
She added: “I like my own company. I talk to myself all the time walking around the house and I talk to the dog.
“‘Come on Dolly, let’s go for a walk… let’s go to the local café.’ She knows it there.”
She doesn’t expect to get married again, while her Catholic guilt means she isn’t keen on the idea of a ‘friend with benefits’ situation.
She said: “No. I don’t know if it is being Catholic Irish. My mum was with my dad and she never met anyone else…
“I’ve got my kids and my grandchildren. I’m quite happy. I really don’t think I will change.”
Linda revealed that “a little while back” someone asked her out for a drink, but she “was scared” and said no.
Still, she does have idea of what she’s want from a new partner, with cleanliness and good humour being top of the list.
She pondered: “A sense of humour – that would be important. And they’ve got to be clean! I can see every little thing. If I was at a bus stop, I would start picking off fluff!”

Joe Wicks ‘felt energised’ after drinking wife’s breast milk

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Wicks “felt energised” after drinking his wife’s breast milk.
The 38-year-old ‘Body Coach’ star caused a stir on social media last month as he drank the milk on his way to Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ concert, and the fitness guru left his wife Rosie startled by his actions.
Reflecting on the Instagram video on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: “I don’t do that everyday. I never thought I’d be on ‘GMB’ talking about drinking my wife’s breast milk.
“Look, it was a bit of fun. I was on the way to a concert and there was two options, throw it on the floor or drink it.
“And I had a really good night, I didn’t have a drink, I felt energised and I felt pretty good for it.”
‘GMB’ presenter Ed Balls was curious what it tasted like, and Joe admitted the milk had a “sugary vanilla” hint.
He added: “So basically it’s like sweet milk. It’s like sugary vanilla milk, it’s really really naturally sweet.
“Like I said, I’m not drinking it by the pint, it was a shot and that was it.”
Joe insisted he “can’t be the first man to try their partner’s breast milk”, while Ed’s co-host Ranvir Singh asked what his wife’s reaction was.
He recalled: “I just said, ‘I’m going to have a shot of this’. She was like ‘Oh, what you doing’.
“I’ve had a go before and you know, I just thought it would be fun.”
Joe and Rosie – who welcomed their fourth child into the world earlier this summer – also have Indie, six, Marley, five, and Leni, two, together.
Announcing baby boy Dusty’s birth in June, he wrote on Instagram: “Today at 9.30am we welcomed our 4th baby into the world. A little boy weighing 7lbs 13oz.
“Rosie gave birth at home. The NHS midwives from St Peter’s hospital were amazing.
“Rosie and the baby are both doing well and getting some rest.”

James Corden had personal plea for Gavin and Stacey fans during filming for Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — James Corden personally asked fans to move out of the way of ‘Gavin and Stacey’ filming.
The 46-year-old actor – who writes and stars in the iconic BBC sitcom – has started shooting scenes for the upcoming Christmas special on Barry Island, while a massive crowd gathered on the promenade to try and get a sneak peek of the shoot.
In a fan video shared on TikTok, the former ‘Late Late Show’ host was seen addressing fans as long-time viewers of the show gathered just metres away from the camera crew.
James said: “Thank you for coming down to see us, it means a great deal to all of us. But when we’re doing the scene, it will just be too difficult to shoot everybody out.
“So, you’re welcome to hang around – it will be quite a long, boring evening.
“But you’re going to have to go over that way… is that alright? Is that OK? Thanks ever so much.”
Pointing to his left, Corden guided the crowd of fans to move aside, ensuring they wouldn’t cause any hassle of the crew in post production.
Back in May, the actor and his co-writer Ruth Junes confirmed that the beloved sitcom would return for a Christmas special this year, marking the final episode after three seasons and two previous festive specials.
In July, James admitted it has only just hit them that they’ll “never” again pen material for their beloved characters.
Speaking on ‘The Chris Evans Breakfast Show’ on Virgin Radio, he grew emotional as he said: “Last night we were like ‘oh that’s it now. We’ve finished. We’ll never write anything that Pam says again.
“We’ll never write interior Gwen’s house. We’ll never come up with an interesting thing that Bryn’s done.’
“We just looked at each other and we were like ‘wow – isn’t that amazing?'”

Brady Corbet rubbishes criticism of long films

OHMYGOSSIP — Brady Corbet has dismissed concerns about film runtimes being too long.
The 36-year-old filmmaker’s new historical drama ‘The Brutalist’ premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday (01.09.24) but he has little time for those who are unhappy about the movie’s 215-minute length.
Brady said at a press conference for the picture: “This film does everything that we are told we are not allowed to do.
“I think it’s quite silly actually to have a conversation about runtime because that’s like criticising a book for being 700 pages instead of 100 pages.”
Corbet says a film is more about “how much story there is to tell” and scoffed at the idea of directors being constrained “into a box” in terms of how long their work should be.
He said: “Maybe the next thing I make will be 45 minutes and I should be allowed to do it. We should be allowed to do that. The idea we have to fit into a box is quite silly.
“We should be past that, it’s 2024. As Harmony Korine once said, cinema is stuck in the birth canal. And I agree with him, so we should help it out.”
‘The Brutalist’ stars Adrien Brody as the Hungarian architect Laszlo Toth – who emigrates to the United States after surviving the Holocaust – and an emotional Corbet explained the heart and soul that went into making the flick.
He said: “This was an incredibly difficult film to make. I’m very emotional today because I’ve been working on it for seven years, and it felt urgent every day for the better part of a decade.”
