Mckenna Grace to lead Spider and Jessie cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Mckenna Grace is to lead the cast of ‘Spider and Jessie’.
The ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ actress is set to appear alongside Jesse Williams, Jojo Regina, Dacre Montgomery, Forrest Goodluck, Fernanda Andrade, and Malia Baker in the motion picture.
According to Deadline, Grace and Regina will play the movie’s titular sisters Spider and Jessie respectively.
The motion picture will tell the story of the two sisters who are left terrified that they will be separated after their mother fatally overdoses.
What’s more, 16-year-old Grace and 41-year-old Williams will serve as executive producers on the film.
Grace said: “I’m so grateful to be a part of this important story about addiction and how it affects not only the addict but those around them.
“I was aware of how prevalent drug use and addiction was, but in doing this film, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of just how big of a problem it is.
“Many of our own cast and crew have shared their experiences and it’s heart-breaking.
“Doing this is more than just making a film, it’s creating and being a part of something that is bigger than ourselves.”
Williams added: “I am honoured to join this incredible producing team and cast led by the words and direction of Dan Kay.
“Shining a light on the shared human conditions that lead to and from addiction, provides us an opportunity to examine our compassion for those impacted today as well as for those pathologised in our recent past.”
Dan Kay will direct the movie from his own script.
He said: “I’ve been interested in telling stories about addiction and the opioid epidemic for years because, like millions of Americans, I have seen first-hand how this insidious disease not only destroys the life of the addict but tears apart the fabric and foundation of the addict’s family.
“This damage – the collateral damage caused by addiction – compelled me to tell this heart-breaking but vital story about opioid orphans.”

Peter Capaldi reveals reason behind Doctor Who comeback snub

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Capaldi has ruled out a ‘Doctor Who’ return for the 60th anniversary celebrations.
The 64-year-old actor – who played the 12th Doctor from 2013 to 2017 before being replaced by Jodie Whittaker – has insisted he has no plans to go back to appear alongside new Doctor Ncuti Gatwa, or returning star David Tennant.
Speaking to SFX Magazine, he explained: “It’s very hard to imagine how you’d get a decent crack of the whip when there’s 14 of you, you know?
“So I think I’d rather leave it as is, because I loved my time on ‘Doctor Who’ and loved doing it.
“I don’t want to be Doctor Who’s assistant. It used to drive me insane on ‘Doctor Who’, not being able to talk about anything. It’s like, ‘Who cares?!’ But then I get into trouble.”
However, Jenna Cloeman – who played companion Clara Oswald alongside Capaldi and his predecessor Matt Smith’s iterations of the Time Lord – previously admitted she won’t rule out a potential comeback in the future.
She said: “It could happen in the future, who knows? I think, at least for a good while, Clara is probably broken down somewhere in time and space, trying to understand how to work a TARDIS!
“I took away so much from my time working with Peter, Matt and the rest of the cast and crew on something so loved and revered. It was such a special time in my life.”
Meanwhile, Jodie has revealed she gets tearful
whenever she talks about her upcoming exit.
She said: “I cannot talk about it without crying. I’ve got to get better at this, because this is the next few weeks for me – talking about my regeneration.”
Jodie went on to explain showrunner Chris Chibnall – who is leaving the show at the same time as her with Russell T Davies returning – wrote some extremely moving dialogue for her character’s big exit.
She added: “I love the dialogue Chris wrote for my regeneration. It captures my Doctor beautifully. It’s simple, epic and beautiful.”

John Fashanu confirmed for Dancing on Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — John Fashanu has been confirmed for ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The former Aston Villa footballer has become the second star revealed for next year’s series of the ITV and ITVX ice skating competition – which features a judging the panel of Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Oti Mabuse, and Ashley Banjo – and he can’t wait to get started.
The 60-year-old star said: “I’m so excited to be a part of ‘Dancing on Ice’.
“I don’t think it’ll come as a surprise to people that I’m very competitive – I am definitely in it to win it. And this may be one of the scariest things I’ve ever signed up for but I couldn’t be more ready for the challenge!”
On Monday (03.10.22), Patsy Palmer – who played Bianca Jackson on the BBC One soap ‘EastEnders’ – was the first celeb to be named for the next series of show, which will return in early 2023.
The 50-year-old actress said: “I can’t believe I’m the first one.
“This was the one I really had to think about, I wanted to challenge myself, get out of my comfort zone.
I’ve turned it down before because I was terrified, but when I turned 50 I made a pact to get out of my comfort zone. This is for all the 50 year olds. I’m actually quite scared now.”
Patsy – who relocated to Malibu after she left Albert Square – won’t be returning for training but will come back to Blighty for the competition.
She said: “I am coming back, but I’ll be training in Los Angeles, which is fantastic.
“I’m not competitive but this time I’m gonna say let’s try and win it. I’m gonna focus on the training and use meditation, and this will really put it to the test for me.”

Whoopi Goldberg will read Sister Act 3 script this month

OHMYGOSSIP — Whoopi Goldberg will be reading the ‘Sister Act 3’ script very soon.
The 66-year-old actress is set to reprise her role as Delores – who became Sister Mary Clarence when she entered witness protection in the original 1992 classic – in the upcoming sequel written by Tyler Perry, and things are moving along at a steady pace.
Speaking to Collider, she revealed she is “waiting for a script at the end of the month”.
Although she didn’t offer any more details, all signs point to a script being finished over the next few weeks.
Her comments come after she recently claimed Disney was “lukewarm for the longest time” about making ‘Sister Act’ a trilogy, with the studio apparently claiming “nobody wanted to see it” before Perry came on board.
She explained: “They were sort of lukewarm for the longest time [about making the movie], they said nobody wanted to see it and then Tyler went in and said, ‘I want to see it.’ Next thing I knew, we were on. That’s the power of TP.”
She made the comments while Perry was a guest on ‘The View’ last month, and he gave his own promising update on the movie.
He added: “I love the idea of us making this happen but you know, the Hollywood system moves a little slower than I’d like to.
“So we’ve got a good script. We’re off to a great start. We’re just trying to get everybody moving in the right direction so we can get it going.”
Meanwhile, Whoopi is keen to work with Jenifer Lewis – who played Michelle in the original movie – again on the follow-up.
She previously said: “You know we’re still going to do that movie. And I’d do everything I can to work with her because she’s fun.”

Dame Prue Leith drowned a bag of kittens as a child

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Prue Leith drowned a bag of kittens as a child.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ judge has recalled being horrified when her mum made her kill the little cats just hours after they came into the world.
Writing in her new memoir, ‘I’ll Try Anything Once’, the celebrity chef said: “My mother and I, then 11, had just drowned some kittens … and for weeks I imagined those poor dead creatures.”
Prue, 82, explained take her mum took the heartbreaking decision because she was “unable” to find proper homes for them.
She wrote: “Too many kittens was a frequent occurrence and there had come a day when my mother, unable to find homes for yet another litter, decided to drown the latest batch.
“My protests were met with a firm, ‘Darling, it has to be done. They are only a few hours old. They will hardly know it’s happening’.”
Prue’s mum explained to her that she didn’t need to hold the bag for too long to send them to “sleep”. However, the TV star can still remember the kittens fighting “like the devil for life”.
She said: “I held the bag under water until the last kitten had stopped mewing.”
Meanwhile, Prue recently revealed that she enjoys being famous, saying she’s “quite an egotist”.
She said: “There have always been people who know me but yes, now obviously with ‘The Great British Bake Off’ I get much more attention, but I’m quite an egotist. I enjoy it.
“I like the attention. I don’t understand why people wouldn’t – of course I can understand if you were really really famous so famous that you couldn’t go to the supermarket and you couldn’t get anywhere.”

Michael G. Wilson: James Bond should be a thirty-something

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael G. Wilson has hinted that the next James Bond will be a “thirty-something”.
The 80-year-old producer, along with his half-sibling Barbara Broccoli, is in charge of casting Daniel Craig’s replacement as 007 and revealed that they are looking for stars of a certain age to take on the famous role.
Speaking at a BFI event to mark 60 years of James Bond films, Michael – who stressed that casting for the latest Bond is yet to start – said: “We’ve tried looking at younger people in the past. But trying to visualise it doesn’t work.
“Remember, Bond’s already a veteran. He’s had some experience. He’s a person who has been through the wars, so to speak. He’s probably been in the SAS or something.
“He isn’t some kid out of high school that you can bring in and start off. That’s why it works for a thirty-something.”
Michael revealed that a seduction scene from the 1963 film ‘From Russia with Love’ – where Sean Connery’s 007 finds Soviet military clerk Tatiana Romanova (played by Daniela Bianchi) in his bed – is always used to examine those who are aspiring to portray the suave spy.
The producer explained: “We always use the same scene… and that’s the one in ‘From Russia with Love’, where Bond comes back to his room after the assassination, and he starts taking off his shirt, goes into the room to bathe.
“Then he hears something, takes his gun, goes in and the girl’s in the bed.”
Amazon now have the rights to the Bond franchise after the company’s purchase of MGM and Michael stressed that 007 will continue as ever despite changes behind-the-scenes.
He told Deadline: “It’s a whole new world. We’ve got to see what happens with Amazon. But there’ll always be a Bond.”

John David Washington embraced Amsterdam camaraderie

OHMYGOSSIP — John David Washington enjoyed the camaraderie with his ‘Amsterdam’ co-stars.
The 38-year-old actor stars in the period comedy thriller alongside Christian Bale and Margot Robbie and felt that he could take more risks on the project as there were “no egos” on the set of David O. Russell’s movie.
Speaking to Collider, John said: “Just from the performance perspective, the bedrock of this set was one of humility and optimism. So it was an easy way in when we were starting with love and respect for one another.
“There were no egos that I felt on the set, so that made it easier to let your guard down, to be vulnerable, to try anything, and to maybe fall on your face, because you know your cast members would pick you up.”
The ‘Tenet’ actor was effusive in his praise for Christian and his leadership on the project having worked with Russell in the past.
John said: “Christian Bale was a great leader, in that way. The second day on set, he came into my little quarters and said, ‘Welcome. You made it through your first day. It’s gonna get better from here.’
“That’s important. That was great. He didn’t have to do that. He could’ve gone straight to his trailer. But it was the end of the day, and he decided to tell me that.
“In knowing that, that’s gonna affect your performance. It’s gonna inform how you listen to your partners, how you receive what they’re saying, and how you receive notes from David O. Russell.”
He continued: “If you’re comfortable with that, and if you know that this foundation is based off of humility and everybody championing one another, then that makes it easier and smooth and enjoyable to find the answers to the questions of your characters and their motivations.”

Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti plan to start a family

OHMYGOSSIP — Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Culculoglu hope to have children together.
The loved-up couple met on ‘Love Island’ earlier this year and Davide, 27, has revealed that they’re already making plans for the future.
He said: “We spoke about it [having kids] and we feel that whenever it’ll be time we will feel it. We are not planning a time, we are just enjoying our relationship.”
David thinks their romance has moved in a positive direction since they left the ‘Love Island’ villa.
Despite this, Davide believes a little bit of “bickering” can still be a good thing.
He told Mirror Online: “You need a few small arguments in the relationship in order to feel it’s real. But apart from that we feel better since left the villa. We feel like actually boyfriend and girlfriend.”
Davide’s stint in the ‘Love Island’ villa catapulted him to stardom in the UK and further afield.
But the hunky star is still adjusting to his new-found fame.
He shared: “I didn’t expect to be recognised by so many people.
“[In] New York, America, people know us. I didn’t expect that. I expected people to maybe know us in England but it’s surprised me because everyone loves us and it’s not like people hate us. The maximum fans will ask is a picture and I’m always glad to do so.”
Meanwhile, Ekin-Su previously claimed that she “forgot” ‘Love Island’ was a TV show.
The actress admitted that she and Davide were pre-occupied with their burgeoning romance.
She shared: “We at some point forgot it was a TV show so I was like ‘Davide, we’ve got mics on and there are cameras!’ and we were like ‘Oh no, this is a show’. And I think when it hit us was when they told us the finals were coming up. I was like ‘What do you mean the finals are coming up?’
“We were happy and thought ‘We’ve got each other’ That’s all that mattered so we were actually rooting for other people to win and we didn’t really mind.”

The ‘Love Island’ star met her 23-year-old boyfriend on the ITV show, and she admits that he “fits in quite well” with her family, including her dad Michael Owen.

“In terms of my relationship and Luca – it’s all going really well. Luckily, we’re able to spend time together so the relationship is going really well and it’s all positive.
“Luca fits in quite well and he gets on with my siblings, my mum and my dad as well.”
Gemma revealed that she also gets on well with Luca’s family, highlighting the “good relationship” she has with her sister.
She said: “His family are lovely too – I get on with all of them really well and have a good relationship with his sister.”
Despite this, the Pretty Little Thing influencer still has no plans yet to move in with her new man, with Gemma describing herself as a “home girl”.
She said: “We don’t have any plans to move into together just yet.
“I’m a home girl, it’s where everything is, I’m family orientated and I’m still young.
“In the immediate future I’m happy with where I am, and the setup Luca and I have.
“We are everywhere right now, when I’m down in London working, we spend time with each other and when we have a free weekend, he’ll join me in Cheshire and be with the horses. We’re making it work around our busy schedules.

Diane Ladd will never retire

OHMYGOSSIP — Diane Ladd says she can’t watch her latest movie, ‘Gigi and Nate’, without shedding a tear for the stars who died after shooting the flick.
Hollywood icons Christopher Plummer, William Hurt and Peter Fonda all sadly passed away before the drama was released in cinemas in September, which makes it a difficult watch.
Diane – who is the mother of actress Laura Dern – said: “I play the mother of a young dead war hero. Chris Plummer plays the father. He died after this movie, and it’s his last great performance.
“Peter Fonda also died after this movie. It’s his last great performance, too.
“And the great William Hurt died after this movie. It’s his last great performance.
“You need tissues just to watch it!”
The Oscar-nominated star has vowed to continue working until the day she dies.
The 86-year-old Hollywood star has many roles away from movies and television, including being a spiritual healer, and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
She told Closer US magazine: “I will keep working until I die. That’s what keeps me healthy.

Bill Skarsgard and Lily-Rose Depp to star in Nosferatu remake

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Skarsgard and Lily-Rose Depp are in talks to star in Robert Eggers’ ‘Nosferatu’ remake.
Eggers has been planning his reimagining of F.W. Murnau’s 1992 German classic – which was remade by Werner Herzog as ‘Nosferatu the Vampyre’ in 1979 – since 2015 and it appears as if he has finally found his leading actors, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Harry Styles were previously in discussions about the movie in 2019 but there were scheduling issues.
Eggers will write and direct the movie for Focus Features, and he will also produce alongside Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus.
Meanwhile, Robert recent admitted production on the movie had caused him so many problems, he was unsure if he was destined to complete the work.
Speaking on Bloody Disgusting’s ‘Boo Crew’ podcast, he said: “I’m just starting to think that [F.W.] Murnau doesn’t want me to make it. It feels like that.
“It just feels like it’s so hard, and I don’t know why. And I think [Werner] Herzog had the right… because of German history and German cinema history, to make it. And maybe the ghosts of Murnau and Albin Grau are telling me… stop barking up that tree. I don’t know. That doesn’t mean that that’s true. I’m just wondering.”
The ‘Northman’ filmmaker got his big break with horror movie ‘The Witch’ but he admitted many classic movies of the genre were just too scary for him when he was growing up.
He said: “The horror movies that were popular in the 80s were just too scary for me.
“I watched a little bit of ‘Friday the 13th’, and I just about… f****** died.
“Universal horror movies and Hammer horror movies… Corman, Vincent Price, Amicus… that kind of stuff… spoke to me. Because I could deal with it. I could see Peter Cushing with a severed arm in a bubbling tank and think that was pretty cool. And a little bit creepy. But I didn’t have to go to the f****** emergency room. So that was the stuff I really loved.
“And then of course, much talked about, but Nosferatu was something that I saw pretty young that really changed my life.”

The Masked Dance to debut surprising twist

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Masked Dancer’ will debut a surprising twist this weekend.
After show judges Peter Crouch, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross struggled to guess the identity of the masked celebrities recently, presenter Joel Dommett is set to give them a helping hand.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “The panel are completely baffled by some of the celebs so producers are giving them a lifeline in the form of a Joel-ker Card from Joel.
“It’ll give them an extra clue as to the identity of the stars behind the costume. They can use it on whichever dancer they choose but they can only use it once.”
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that ‘The Masked Dancer’ will feature a triple unveiling on Saturday night (01.10.22), after one of the contestants was forced to pull out of the show due to injury.
Bosses at ITV have not named which dancer has been injured so fans will have to tune in to see who is going home – as well as their secret identity.
A source said the accident was unfortunate as the star involved was not even rehearsing in costume.
They explained: “It’s really bad luck. ITV obviously aren’t revealing who the injured character is, they’ll wait for Saturday’s show.
“It’s ironic they got injured while they were not even wearing their crazy costume because the celebrities are barely out of them backstage.”
The last star to be unmasked on the show was 46-year-old choirmaster Gareth Malone, who was sent home last week.

Maya Jama to replace Laura Whitmore on Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama is set to replace Laura Whitmore as the host of ‘Love Island’.
Laura, 37, quit the show in August and Maya, 28, is set to take over presenting duties, starting with Winter Love Island, which will be filmed in South Africa early next year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Maya was ITV’s dream option. She is fun, beautiful and a brilliant presenter. She was discussed as a possible replacement for Caroline [Flack] two years ago — but now the time is right.
“They think she’ll make the show her own and carry on from where Caroline left off.
“They’re just in the process of finalising the last few details — but barring any huge surprises she will be announced formally very soon.
“They are just dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s.”
An ITV spokesperson said: “Our new host will be announced in due course.”
Laura replaced late TV presenter Caroline Flack and hosted the show for three series.
However, she quit ‘Love Island’ in August, hinting at some issues behind the scenes.
She said: “I hate having anything I’m not allowed to say. I couldn’t ask Love Islanders if they were OK.
“It is hard. Your face is the front of the show but I am one tiny person and have no producing role so I couldn’t say if I didn’t think something was OK.”

Jon Hamm says Bridesmaids’ success was down to the relatable female friendship story

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Hamm knew ‘Bridesmaids’ would be a huge success because it’s about “a friendship from a distinctly female point of view.”
The 43-year-old actor played the part of Ted, the sex buddy of Kristin Wiig’s hopeless, unlucky-in-love character Annie in the 2011 rom-com, and as well as having a stellar predominantly female cast, Hamm says the main story’s focus on the friendship between Kristin and Maya Rudolph’s character Lillian and the “real, emotional” they felt for the pair when they hit rock bottom.
Speaking on ‘The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham’, Hamm said: “That was such a fun experience and something I knew would be fun to make.
“And when I saw it together, I knew it was going to be a huge hit because it had like you said, it’s a rare comedy that can actually make you feel emotional in a rare way.
‘Bridesmaids’ was such a particular story about friendship from a distinctly female point of view, although there are moments of gross-out humour.
“But it’s really about a friendship and that’s what people identified within that movie and it had some gigantic laughs.
“So I knew that was going to be a [success] … I mean, look at the cast, Kristin [Wiig] and Maya [Rudolph] and Rose Byrne and Melissa [McCarthy].
“Everyone in it is a big-hitter. It was a pleasure to be a part of.”
Hamm’s comments on the film come after director Paul Feig said he knew ‘Bridesmaids’ would be a hit after several test screenings.
The 60-year-old actor-turned-filmmaker was at the helm of the flick about maid-of-honour Annie trying to navigate herself through the friendship politics of her best friend’s wedding, and said they were able to get real audience feedback on the jokes.
He said: “I always say nobody ever sets out to make a bad movie. But, every movie you’re on people are like, ‘Oh, this is going to be great’ and they’re talking about like ‘Oh, we’re going to go win an award’, even if you know if it’s horrendous. But I knew we were getting really good stuff when we were doing it, and we were just laughing every day and having so much fun. Great cast.
“But you know, we did a million test screenings, you know, where you show it to an audience, where you record their laughs, you go like, that joke didn’t work, trade that out, and we did that like nine or ten times over the course of months, and then you kinda know it’s going to work with most audiences.”

Christian Bale’s Taylor Swift collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Christian Bale’s daughter was shocked after he performed with Taylor Swift.
The 48-year-old actor filmed a scene with Taylor for new movie ‘Amsterdam’, in which their characters sing together, and Christian couldn’t wait to tell his kids about it.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “That was a real nice surprise, and I actually didn’t tell anybody about that until afterwards. I went to my daughter and said, ‘You know who I sang with today? Taylor Swift.’ And she was like, ‘Wait, what? Why would you be doing that?’
“It was a very funny scene, actually, because J.D. [John David Washington] and myself had been practicing that song a little bit. David had us sing it all day long, but then there were moments where I would forget the lyrics. So I’d look at J.D., he’d look at me and then he’d forget, too. So I would have to mouth it to him. And then we were going flat. Our pitch was all over the place … and then all of a sudden, David [O. Russell – director] just goes, ‘How about Christian and J.D. just shut up for this one and let Taylor do it?’ And it was like we had been drowning out an angel’s voice all day long with our cacophony and our rough, terrible voices.
“So it’s really something when you have someone with as beautiful a voice as hers, singing right next to you. Oh man, that was phenomenal. David creates so many different phenomenal events and stories and moments in working with him. That’s what he’s trying to create, and he manages to do it beautifully.”
And Christian revealed the movie is special to him because of the deep friendship of the three main characters, playing by him, John David Washington and Margot Robbie.
He said: “The core of the film and the reason that I love the film so much is because of this friendship in the midst of it, this triangle of friends, Margot Robbie’s character, J.D.’s character and mine. They have all suffered absolutely crushing circumstances in their life, but they refuse to be beaten by it or defined by it. So David and I just loved those characters. We want to be around them, and we want to watch them. We want to see these friends take care of each other no matter what. Oh man, that’s a friendship that I want to have in my life.”

Helen Skelton’s advice from Gemma Atkinson

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Skelton got advice from Gemma Atkinson about ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 39-year-old presenter admitted she feels lucky to have the support of professional dance partner Gorka Marquez and his fiancee, and former ‘Strictly’ contestant, Gemma, 37, as she takes on the challenge of competing in the show.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, she said: “Obviously Gemma, Gorka and I have loads of mutual friends, people in common, so for me, I’m really grateful that I’ve got him. A lot of people spend time getting to know each other, whereas I already felt like I knew him.
“Gemma’s like, ‘Say this to him, say that to him,’ and she’s done the show so she gets it. I feel lucky, because I’ve got two people.’
Gorka added that Gemma has given useful advice to both of them.
He said: “For me with Gemma, she has done the show, she went all the way to the final, she experienced the show as a celebrity.
“I know what I need to do as a professional to take someone to the final. But at the same time with Gemma, she sometimes goes to me, ‘Don’t forget, they’re not a professional,’ or, ‘Don’t forget this,’ because when I was doing it…
“It makes me feel like, ‘Ok, you’re right, maybe take a step back.'”
And Gorka admitted he can be intense during training because he believes Helen has the potential to reach the final.
He said: “‘I want to make her feel as confident and prepared as possible, so that when she goes on the floor, I don’t want to have to get any comment that’s going to upset her, or make her feel like she didn’t work enough.”
