Jake Quickenden wants to be the first person to win Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing On Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Quickenden wants to make history as the first person to win both ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The ‘Love Don’t Feel The Same’ hitmaker has revealed his dream to capture the Glitterball trophy on the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition – which is currently in its 20th season featuring the likes of Bros singer Matt Goss and ‘EastEnders’ star James Bye – after he already nabbed the top spot on ITV’s figure skating competition in 2018.
Ranking some of his reality TV experiences, the 34-year-old singer told the Metro newspaper’s Sixty Seconds column: “They’re all so different. I’d say ‘Dancing On Ice’ on because I won it. But I love ‘[Celebrity] SAS: Who Dares Wins’ even though I ruptured my pec and my bicep and have four pins in my shoulder.
“The next one I want to do is ‘Strictly’ because I’d love to be the first person to win ‘Strictly’ and ‘Dancing On Ice’.
Jake – who recently tied the knot to his longtime love Sophie Church with whom he has son Leo, two, and step-son Freddie – is “thankful” for the opportunities given to him from appearing on ‘The X Factor’ in 2012 and 2014.
He said: “I did ‘The X Factor’ nearly 10 years ago and every day I’m thankful about how everything’s turned out. It might end tomorrow, and you never know, so that’s why I take the opportunities I get given and just ride them.”
The ‘I Am A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! alum is still in contact with some of his ‘X Factor’ pals but values his childhood mates who stood by him before he hit the big time.
He explained: “I speak to Rylan every now and then. Ben Haenow, who won in 2014, has been a great mate, and Lucy Spraggan. We’ve got this shared experience so we’ll always be close in that way. But most of my mates are from growing up – my three best men were mates I’ve been friends with since I was playing football aged five.
“My friends I’ve grown up with are the ones that were there when I was on the dole and didn’t have a penny for petrol. These are the guys that were there when my dad and brother passed away, and they’re the people I’d call on if I needed help if I was ever in a bad way.”

Jamie Lee Curtis: I felt isolated on the set of Knives Out

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Lee Curtis felt “quite isolated” on the set of ‘Knives Out’.
The 63-year-old actress starred in Rian Johnson’s hit whodunnit as Linda Drysdale-Thrombey but admits that she didn’t enjoy the filming process for the 2019 movie.
Jamie told Entertainment Weekly: “I was actually quite isolated. I was living in this weird hotel by myself, and a lot of the movie, I’m not in. I was alone for a lot and it was a very tough time.”
The movie – which also featured Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas and Chris Evans – proved popular and Jamie had “no idea” that it would be such a success, with the sequel ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ slated for release on Netflix in December.
The ‘Halloween’ actress said: “It turned out to be this fantastic movie. I would never have known that the movie we were making was the movie that we made.
“It wasn’t evident to me, because Rian was so specific in his methodology, and it’s not like we’re all watching monitors and seeing all the work. We had no idea. We’d just do our little thing and then go home. It was just such a delightful surprise.”
Despite her isolation on set, Jamie explained that starring in ‘Knives Out’ gave her a new level of celebrity.
She said: “I remember when they wanted me to go to CinemaCon with ‘Knives Out’, I was like, they want me to go to CinemaCon? They don’t want all those other people to go to CinemaCon?
“Because I really felt like I was this tiny, tiny, delicious but tiny little part of the puzzle. It just was so fun to actually become its head cheerleader. I’m a bit of a weapon of mass promotion and I got behind that one in a big way, because it was so fun and great and people loved it.”

BBC announces new Hans Zimmer documentary about Hollywood legend

OHMYGOSSIP — Hans Zimmer is “honoured” to be the subject of a new BBC Two documentary.
The ‘Gladiator’ composer has marked his 40 year career by taking part in BBC Studio’s ‘Hans Zimmer: Hollywood Rebel’, which debuts on Sunday 16 October at 9pm – and will reflect on his impact on the film industry and the power of orchestral music with talking head appearances from high-profile directors, such as Ron Howard, Denis Villeneuve, Steve McQueen and Christopher Nolan.
The 65-year-old star said: “I’m honoured to be sharing this insight into my career and life with the BBC audience. My hope is that this documentary inspires and emboldens you to unapologetically pursue your passions and find a deeper understanding for my scores, and above all, music.”
Zimmer – who has a long history of working on Sir David Attenborough-fronted nature documentaries for the UK’s public broadcaster, most recently ‘Frozen Planet II’ – lauded being able to share his “incredible life story”.
Sreya Biswas, BBC Commissioning’s Head of Natural History said: “Hans Zimmer has been integral to Natural History’s output for many years, composing for some of our biggest landmarks, most recently Frozen Planet II.
“We are really pleased to be able to tell his own incredible life story and musical journey in this film.”
The profile of Hans – whose musical score credits include ‘The Lion King’, ‘Rain Man’, ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’, ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘Batman Begins’, ’12 Year A Slave’, ‘The Da Vinci Code’ and ‘Dune’ – was dubbed a “dream job” by the project’s director, Francis Hanly.
He added: “The sheer number of standout movies Hans Zimmer has scored over the past 40 years is incredible. It was a dream job to sit and film him at the keyboard in his studio as he gave us an intimate and exclusive demonstration of the techniques and sounds he’s created and the ideas that lie behind some of his most famous scores.”

Ant Middleton says Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins is ‘a lot softer now’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant Middleton insists ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ is “a lot softer now” since he left.
The 42-year-old army veteran doesn’t tune in to watch his replacement Rudy Reyes on the star-studded Channel 4 military endurance show – which has featured ex ‘EastEnders’ star Maisie Smith, Olympian champion Fatima Whitbread and reality television personality Calum Best on its latest series – after the 50-year-old former Marine claimed he was a “misogynist”.
Ant – who was sacked from the show last year due to his “personal conduct” – told The Sun newspaper: “’SAS’ is a lot softer now. I don’t watch it.
“A lot of celebrities ring me and tell me they’ve been asked to do the show but won’t, partly out of loyalty to me and partly because they say, ‘What would I get out of it? It’s gone soft.’ ”
Responding to Rudy’s allegations he had a problem with women, Ant denied it, citing his wife as a reference.
Ant said: “I can accept some things people say about me but I am not misogynistic. My wife was like, ‘If anyone spent five minutes with you, they would know that’s absolutely not right, as you never treat anyone with disrespect.’
“I don’t know Rudy, so I don’t dislike him and I don’t like him, but I know to steer clear of him now because of that unfortunate article.”
‘The Wall’ author – who was involved in the show when it began with a civilian edition in 2015 – admitted he was “really shocked” bosses maintained the name, while he also questioned Rudy’s credentials.
Ant said: “I’m really shocked they can still call it ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ because the chief instructor is an ex-marine. They are not tier-one Special Forces — they haven’t got that training or mindset that we have.
“My Twitter explodes on a Sunday night when the show is on. I get tweets saying, ‘Ant, when are you going to be back?’ It’s overwhelming.
“People think you can just put another person in front of the camera, but it’s really hard to deliver and come across as authentic. There’s only one Ant Middleton.”
This comes after Rudy slammed Ant – who has railed against the “cancel culture” that led him to be removed by the network – labelling him “immature” and “narcissistic”.
Of his predecessor, he said: “He’s very immature, he’s a very immature person.
“It’s obvious how narcissistic he is. And of course, you know what, if he was ever face to face with me he wouldn’t say a thing. He’d have no chance against me.”

Emmerdale bosses want to keep finding new talent as soap celebrates 50th birthday

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ bosses are constantly searching for “new talent” as the show celebrates its 50th birthday.
The ITV soap – which hits 50 years on the air on October 16 – has marked the occasion by bringing new cast members including Louise Jameson, Kevin Mathurin, Emile John and Lawrence Robb together for a special photo shoot.
Each of the actors were brought in by the show’s casting director Faye Styring, who has been part of the crew for 17 years and works with four colleagues to scout out the best emerging performers.
She said in a statement: “As a team we are passionate about finding new talent and the right actor for the role. All of these actors have really made their own mark on the show already.”
One of those names is Karene Peter (Naomi Walters), who added: “It’s been great joining the show at such an iconic moment in time! Everyone has been super welcoming and it feels like I’ve been here forever!”
Many of the cast who join ‘Emmerdale’ now grew up as big fans of the show, including newcomer Martelle Edinborough, who plays wedding planner Suzy Merton.
She gushed: “I’m absolutely loving being part of the team. I grew up on Emmerdale so it’s a real honour to be in it especially during its 50th year of being on our screens!”
And acclaimed actress Louise Jameson – who also joined earlier this year as Mary Goskirk – is also delighted to be back on the show after starting her career 50 years ago on ‘Emmerdale Farm’.
She said: “I’m so thrilled to be part of Emmerdale’s iconic 50th celebrations. To be working in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales with such an amazing team.
“Fifty years ago one of my first jobs was playing Sharon Crosswaite on ‘Emmerdale Farm’, then a humble lunchtime show, and now here I am again, full circle. I couldn’t be happier.”
‘Emmerdale’ will celebrate its 50th birthday with an hour long episode on Sunday 16 October.

David Gordon Green: Halloween Kills criticism didn’t affect me

OHMYGOSSIP — David Gordon Green didn’t let any criticism of ‘Halloween Kills’ affect his filmmaking decisions on ‘Halloween Ends’.
The 47-year-old director has helmed the latest ‘Halloween’ trilogy, which is set to come to an end with ‘Halloween Ends’, and he is adamant that he is proud of its predecessor, despite a mixed response from critics.
David enjoyed showing the “unresolved chaos” that masked murderer Michael Myers caused in Haddonfield and the shock ending.
Speaking to the new issue of SFX magazine, David said: “‘Kills’ was 100 per cent the movie I wanted to make, and I’m extremely proud of its kind of insanity.
“To me, psychologically, the whole point of that movie is kind of unravelling things and not resolving things.
“There’s a lot of people that when they see an ending like that, or that kind of unresolved chaos, they get frustrated as a moviegoer. For me, that’s just part of the fun, and then we get to come in and tidy it up with the last one. So any frustration that was expressed about the last one, I kind of just smile and say, ‘Hold tight, here we come.'”
David is directing a direct sequel to horror classic ‘The Exorcist’ to mark the original movie’s 50th anniversary next year and explained that it is a different project to the ‘Halloween’ trilogy despite being in the same genre.
He said of the project: “It’s going well.
“It’s another daunting, intimidating responsibility, but at the same time, for me as a filmmaker it’s exercising an entirely different set of skills and insights and research and techniques, because it couldn’t be more different (to ‘Halloween’).”
David added: “We filmed portions of the movie to see what if we did this or that, and did some proof of concept maybe a year ago, and that all worked really well. So we’re getting that back underway soon.”

Jacob Batalon uncertain about fourth Spider-Man film

OHMYGOSSIP — Jacob Batalon has cast doubt on a fourth ‘Spider-Man’ film.
The 25-year-old star played the role of Ned Leeds in the recent trilogy that starred Tom Holland as the web-slinging hero but suggested that a decision to continue with the series would ultimately be made by Sony Pictures.
When asked about the chances of a fourth film, Jacob told Collider: “I feel like actors are the last people to know.
“I think that people assume that actors are always hiding secrets. I promise you, we don’t know anything. But again, if it’s the right place, at the right time, with the right group of people that we’ve been with, I would say, why not?
“But other than that, whatever happens, happens. Really, those decisions are up to the big bosses, the people who sign the checks. We’re open to the idea, but we’re not hoping for it.”
Jacob discussed the “beautiful” experience of filming ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ – which featured the return of previous Spideys Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield – and felt it was a “poignant ending” for Tom, Zendaya and himself.
He recalled: “We all very much were crying, our last day of work.
“Even at the premiere, we were all crying. It was such a beautiful experience to be a part of, I think for all of us. We started at a very young age, being teenagers, essentially, when we started the first movie. And to really watch the arc of the movies come together and all of our characters come full circle, I would say that it was crazy.”
Jacob added: “And then, to have it end the way it did, on such a cliffhanger, obviously, everyone wasn’t expecting that. I would say that it’s such a poignant ending to our movies.
“It really puts an exclamation on the continuance of ‘Spider-Man’, but maybe not with us, and I think that’s a great thing. We may not necessarily be a part of it, but it was a beautiful ride anyway.”

Liberty X star Michelle Heaton signs up for Dancing on Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Heaton has signed up for ‘Dancing on Ice.’
The former Liberty X star, 43, – who had battled through addiction in recent years but quit alcohol for good back in January 2021 – is said to have “impressed” bosses of the ITV skating competition and is looking forward to “pushing herself” when the series returns to screens in early 2023.
A source said: “Michelle really impressed the ‘Dancing on Ice’ team and they were delighted to be able to offer her a place on this year’s show. The ‘Just a Little’ hitmaker – who has been married to businessman Hugh Hanley since 2010 and has daughter Faith, 10, and eight-year-old son Aaron with him – is reportedly gearing up to begin training for the show and while she is a “good dancer”, she has only ever hit the rink as a leisure activity with her kids.
The insider told The Sun: “Michelle is preparing to start her training for ‘Dancing on Ice’. She is raring to go and cannot wait to get out onto the ice. Ekin said: “I’ve got some amazing news to tell you – I will be doing [next] year’s ‘Dancing on Ice’. I’m so excited for the team. I can’t wait to get myself on the ice and skate. Stay tuned, and see you on the ice!”

ITV is rebranding main channel following ITVX launch

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV is rebranding its main channel as ITV1 after the launch of ITVX.
The broadcaster has confirmed plans to introduce “a refresh of all our channels this autumn” following the upcoming arrival of its new streaming platform.
In a statement to RadioTimes.com, the network said: “ITV will be bringing in some refreshed channel branding later this quarter and more details will be confirmed in due course.
“As ITV moves towards a future where both broadcast and streaming will be crucial parts of how viewers engage with us, we want to more clearly distinguish between our main broadcast channel and our masterbrand.
“And therefore, as part of a refresh of all our channels this Autumn, our main channel will become ITV1.”
The change will mark a return to the ITV1 name for the main channel, which carried the same branding from 2001 until 2013.
Meanwhile, it’s said the plans are meant to reflect ITV’s focus on streaming alongside its linear television output.
ITVX was announced earlier this year as a free streaming service with new series coming every week, including ‘Spy Among Friends’ and an “ever-changing library of blockbuster movies”.
Back in March, ITV’s chief executive Carolyn McCall said: “The digital acceleration we are announcing today builds on everything we have achieved in phase one of our More Than TV strategy.
“ITVX will be a free service supported by adverts, with a compelling subscription proposition.
“This is fantastic for viewers – it will provide a simplified and seamless experience with thousands of hours of free content made up of both library and original exclusive content.
“The subscription tier will provide a premium offering and includes all of the content ad-free as well as BritBox and future SVOD content partners.
“We are supercharging our streaming business, fundamentally shifting our focus to think digital first, as well as optimising our broadcast channels, by continuing to attract unrivalled mass audiences.”

EastEnders’ Lola Pearce will be diagnosed with fatal brain tumour

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ character Lola Pearce will be diagnosed with a brain tumour.
The BBC One soap’s bosses have confirmed Lola – played by 30-year-old actress Danielle Harold – will find out she is battling cancer in the coming weeks, as part of a storyline set to debut this autumn focused on the hairdresser’s journey as she gets to grips with being given a terminal prognosis at such a young age and how it impacts her friends and family.
‘EastEnders’ writers have been adding realism to the plot point by working closely with Brain Tumour Research and Macmillan Cancer Support, who have expressed how “grateful” they are for the spotlight.
Brain Tumour Research’s Sue Castle-Smith said: “We are extremely grateful to EastEnders for helping to raise awareness of brain tumours. Sadly, Lola’s story is all too familiar to thousands of families.
“Brain tumours are indiscriminate and can affect anyone at any age, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.”
Dany Bell from Macmillan Cancer Support added: “Storylines like Lola’s play a crucial role in raising awareness and can genuinely save viewers’ lives, so we are really pleased to be helping EastEnders ensure a realistic experience is being portrayed on the show.
“The moving storyline will show how suddenly a diagnosis can impact every aspect of a person’s life and how challenging it can truly be. We know that what Lola and her fictional family are going through on EastEnders is a daily reality for many people around the UK right now, and Macmillan is here to offer advice and support to anyone who needs it.
“Anyone watching with concerns about any potential signs or symptoms of cancer must also speak to their GP as soon as possible.”
Danielle – whose departure from Albert Square was teased earlier this year – admitted it meant a lot to her to be “trusted” with such a sensitive story.
She said: “It means so much to be trusted with a storyline like this – one that’s close to many people’s hearts. Sadly many of our viewers will be able to relate to Lola’s story and it’s been heartbreaking to speak to the families affected by brain tumours and hear their stories.
“They’ve been so amazing in sharing their experiences with me, and I’m so lucky to have them. I wouldn’t be able to do this storyline without their support.”

Emma Tammi to direct Five Nights at Freddy’s

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Tammi is to direct ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’.
The filmmaker has been tapped to helm an adaptation of the popular horror video game, which is in pre-production for an early 2023 start of principal photography.
Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is working with Blumhouse to bring the game’s favourite animatronic characters to life.
The game was created by Scott Cawthon and follows a troubled security guard as he starts work at the family-friendly Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza joint. During his first night on the job, he realises that the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be easy to make it through.
The original game was released in 2014 and it has since become a global franchise and grown into its own story and gaming universe.
Blumhouse chief Jason Blum said: “‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ is more consistently asked about than any other film I’ve ever worked on, and I’m thrilled to confirm it’s finally happening!
“With Emma Tammi at the helm, we’re committed to making Scott’s vision of the movie come to life. Rest assured, it will be and is worth the wait.”
Tammi and Cawthon have written the script for the film with Seth Cuddeback. Cawthon and Blum are to produce the movie.
Emma said: “Stepping into the rich, terrifying world of Freddy’s alongside Scott Cawthon, Blumhouse and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is beyond thrilling. I cannot wait for audiences to immerse themselves in the wild and wonderful playground we are creating.”
A ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ film has been in development for the past seven years and has had Gil Kenan and Chris Columbus both attached to direct before Tammi has been handed control of the project.

Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher confirmed for Dancing On Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Mollie Gallagher has been announced for ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who plays Nina Lucas in the soap – is swapping the cobbles for the ice rink after becoming the fifth celebrity confirmed for ITV’s figure skating competition when it returns in 2023.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday (06.10.22), she said: “I’m really excited. I’ve not really felt nervous yet, strangely. But being here today, I am now feeling it a little bit.”
She admitted she’ll be getting plenty of advice from former ‘Corrie’ stars who have also competed on the show.
She added: “I’ll be getting all the tips I can because I’m going to need it!”
And Mollie confessed some of her friends might “laugh” when they hear she’s signed up for the show, insisting she hasn’t “got the best coordination”.
She said: “I think I’ve not got the best coordination and everyone that knows me well knows that so when they find out I’m doing this, they’re gonna laugh.”
The actress joins an already star studded lineup featuring actress and DJ Patsy Palmer, former footballer Josh Fashanu, ‘Love Island’ winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloglu and Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson.
Former ‘EastEnders’ actress Patsy commented earlier this week: “I wanted to challenge myself and get back to work, get out of my comfort zone.
“And I just thought ‘I’ll just go for it’, it seems like a lot of fun.”
While Fashanu said: “I don’t think it’ll come as a surprise to people that I’m very competitive – I am definitely in it to win it.
“And this may be one of the scariest things I’ve ever signed up for but I couldn’t be more ready for the challenge.”
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will once again be at the helm presenting the show early next year, while Jane Torvill, Christopher Dean, Oti Mabuse and Ashley Banjo will be back as judges.

Olivia Attwood ‘set to become first Love Island star to do I’m A Celebrity’

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Attwood is reportedly set to become the first ‘Love Island’ star to sign up for ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’
The 31-year-old reality star – who finished third on the hugely popular dating show alongside ex-boyfriend Chris Hughes in 2017 – has gone onto star in the likes of ‘Celebs Go Dating’, ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ and her own X-rated documentary series ‘Getting Filthy Rich’, and now she could be heading to the jungle when the show returns to Australia.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “This is a sign that the dating favourite is now so big and produces figures with such high profiles that they can no longer be dismissed.
“Olivia is already viewed as a rising star on ITV and this is likely to serve as a launchpad for potentially fronting more mainstream shows with the broadcaster.”
Meanwhile, she has some history with ‘I’m A Celebrity’ after appearing as a special guest on spin-off show ‘Extra Camp’, when she had to endure Bushtucker Trials and was made to eat sheep brains.
The report comes after sources claimed ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’ star Babatunde Aleshe – who appears on the Channel 4 show alongside ‘Masked Singer’ judge Mo Gilligan – is also heading to the jungle.
An insider said: “Bosses are really excited to have Babatunde in the mix.
“He’s become a firm favourite with ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’ viewers and producers reckon he’ll be a great campmate. He’s been doing stand-up for years but it’s his banter and constant one-liners with best mate Mo on Celebrity Gogglebox that really impressed the casting team.
“It’s a great opportunity for him to head to the jungle.”
In response to the reports, an ITV spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: “Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity are speculation, we’ll announce our line up nearer transmission.”

Shirly Ballas left ‘absolutely mortified’ by Strictly Come Dancing elimination

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas was “absolutely mortified” by the latest ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ elimination.
Over the weekend, Kaye Adams and her professional dance partner Kai Widdrington became the first couple to leave the BBC Latin and ballroom competition after losing out to Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova in the dreaded dance off.
Appearing on ‘The One Show’ on Wednesday (05.10.22), Shirley admitted she didn’t agree after her fellow judges Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood opted to save Bros singer Matt.
She said: “I just felt on the evening both couples made mistakes but the quality of Kaye was by far superior on that evening and I was absolutely mortified that she left, to be quite honest.
“I love my fellow judges and we’re all there to do a job, but in my opinion, that was one they didn’t quite get right.”
However, she insisted the judges never seriously clash over any disagreements they may have on the show, and there are moments she’s glad they have all agreed so she doesn’t have to cast a deciding vote.
She added: “No, not at all Sometimes I’m just delighted when they can agree and it’s not my job to send someone home.
“But [Kaye] was – she had – the most beautiful, beautiful movement. She was fluid, and I like fluidity, so there you go.”
Meanwhile, Kaye and Kai – who finished joint bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday (01.10.22) with 22 points out of 40 for their Charleston – have since admitted they knew they were in for a tough night.
Kaye said: “I thought the judges’ comments were fair, I really didn’t have a problem with them at all. There’s so many wonderful dancers there, Molly’s dance at the end I just thought was fabulous… I put my hands up and say well done.”
