Lenny Henry to receive Special Recognition Award at NTAs

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Lenny Henry will receive the Special Recognition Award at the National Television Awards.
The ‘Comic Relief’ icon will take home the top prize at the ceremony at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on Thursday night (13.10.22), after a showbiz career spanning six decades.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “He’s such a TV legend and deserves the acclaim he’s about to receive — the Special Recognition Award is always a special part of the evening.”
Reacting to the news, Lenny admitted he is already feeling quite emotional about the honour.
He said on ‘Lorraine’: “It’s really nice, and it’s lovely to be recognised. My first ever appearance was on ITV on ‘New Faces’. My first TV series, ‘The Fosters’, was on ITV, so there’s a history there. It was the first ever black family sitcom on British television.
“It used to get 26 million viewers in the first season, and the majority of viewers were from Scotland. I loved that.
“It [the Special Recognition Award] is going to pay tribute to that and then there’s going to be a little film they’ve made, then I’m going to say thank you to my family and stuff. I’m going to be quite emosh. I’m trying to save it up for tonight, but I’m already having little bursts of excitement, which is not something you want to see.”
Before Lenny is handed the gong – which has been previously won by legends such as Sir Billy Connolly, Sir David Jason, Sir David Attenborough, Dame Joanna Lumley and Graham Norton – the NTAs will show a star-studded video explaining his impact, which will include cameos from the likes of ‘Sister Act’ star Whoopi Goldberg.
The 66-year-old actress says in the clip: “If you want to know what a superhero looks like, take a look at Sir Lenny Henry.”
‘The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power’ star burst onto the scene as a stand-up comedian and impressionist in the 1970s before becoming a mainstay on British television after featuring on kids classic ‘Tiswas’ and sketch show ‘Three of A Kind’.

Jermain Defoe hopes he can inspire a generation of black coaches

OHMYGOSSIP — Jermain Defoe hopes to inspire other black coaches.
The Sky Sports pundit is now an academy coach at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur – who scored 143 goals in 363 appearances for – and he has revealed that he has been encouraged into coaching by predecessors such as Chris Hughton and Ledley King and hopes to do the same for future generations.
In a conversation with Britain’s former NFL star Jack Crawford to discuss their background and fighting discrimination for the Premier League’s No Room For Racism campaign, Defoe said: “They probably thought, ‘I don’t know if I should do that.’
“But when you see someone else from the same background get given the opportunity, (they’ll think) ‘Yeah, I can do this.’ That’s exactly what happens.”
The pair met at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which has been hosting NFL games this month, and Crawford reflected on how far society has advanced in recent years to give sportspeople equal opportunities.
The former Dallas Cowboys star – who grew up in London before moving to the United States – said: “It’s important to look at how far we’ve come.
“You (Defoe) didn’t have to do anything to break barriers, apart from be good at football.
“But (it’s great) having kids of all backgrounds, of all races watching you play, saying ‘I want to be like Jermain Defoe.'”
Defore and Crawford also discussed the racist abuse that Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka were subjected to after missing penalties for England in the Euro 2020 final and the NFL star reflected on the leading roles that three black players had for their country.
He said: “It rested on their shoulders. If you look at the bigger picture, it is representation and shows the value of how far we have come.”
Defoe explained that he was proud of the way the nation “came together” to support the trio.
He said: “The fact that everyone came together to support them was one of the best things that happened that summer.”

Rylan Clark: I couldn’t talk for a couple of weeks amid divorce

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark’s divorce left him unable to talk for a couple of weeks.
The BBC Radio 2 presenter explained how “horrendous” it was after he split from his ex Dan Neal when he couldn’t eat or speak, prompting him to lose a worrying amount of weight.
In a preview clip of ‘Shopping With Keith Lemon’, which airs on Thursday evening (13.10.22), the 34-year-old broadcaster told host Keith Lemon: “It’s been horrendous,” before telling Keith that he “got ill”.
Rylan said: “I went down to like nine stone and I am six foot four.”
The ‘Supermarket Sweep’ presenter admitted he “couldn’t eat” or “couldn’t talk for a couple of weeks,” before quipping he knew “some people would be happy to hear” that.
The former ‘X Factor’ star said the split was a “major shock” and a huge catalyst for change in his life, but he has vowed to never go back to the “worst place” he’s ever been.
He added: “Everything changed. Now, I sort of look back and I think, like, I’m glad I’ve been to the worst place I could have been. I know I can never let myself get like that again.”
Rylan offered advice to people in similar situations, as he emphasised the importance of talking and living your life.
He said: “If you can, try and talk. Try and go about your day and stuff like that. I couldn’t. It got so bad that I couldn’t be at home and had to go somewhere else.”
The ‘Strictly: It Takes Two’ host admits he wasn’t sure if he was “ready” to return to the companion show of the BBC One Latin and ballroom programme, but it was “too late” to turn back.
Rylan said: “For the first time in 10 years, I remember just hearing the count in my ear, it was ‘Strictly’, and I just thought, ‘Am I ready’ in that three seconds before going on air, ‘Am I ready to be back at work?’. And by then it was too late but sometimes you need to do that. And I was ready. I was ready.”
‘Shopping With Keith Lemon’ continues tonight at 10pm on ITV Hub.

Helen Skelton’s ex expecting baby with new girlfriend

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Skelton’s ex-husband is expecting a baby with his new girlfriend.
Richie Myler and the ‘Countryfile’ presenter confirmed in April that their marriage was over, just four months after she gave birth to the couple’s third child, Elsie, and the professional rugby player – who also has sons Ernie, seven, and five-year-old Louis, with Helen – will now be a dad for a fourth time, with his new love Stephanie Thirkill.
A friend of his told The Sun newspaper: “Stephanie and Richie are obviously thrilled. They have moved very quickly but are extremely happy together.
“The timing of the pregnancy may raise a few eyebrows though.
“It is obviously such a huge step, and one made remarkably quickly off the back of Helen and Richie’s eight-year marriage ending. But Richie and Helen maintain cordial relations, and in a way the timing is actually perfect as Helen is so happy at the moment.”
Stephanie took to Instagram to announce her pregnancy, tagging the Leeds Rhinos player into the post.
Richie is thought to have told Helen his baby news before Stephanie put a post on social media.
Helen is currently competing in the 20th series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The friend added: “She is loving every second of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and is far too busy – and probably knackered – to be worrying about her ex.
“Accordingly, Richie didn’t think it would be a huge problem because they have both moved on with their lives.”
She is yet to comment on Richie’s news, but took to Instagram this morning (13.10.22) to post a picture of her daughter looking on as her two sons played a football video game.
The former ‘Blue Peter’ presenter captioned the picture: “A life with brothers …”
Helen recently admitted she signed up for ‘Strictly’ – on which she is partnered with Gorka Marquez – to “do something fun” and so her family could see her “smiling”.
She said: “I just wanted to do something fun. It was a good chance for my family to see me smiling and it’s a fun adventure.”

Michael Sheen and Chanel Cresswell to star in Vardy v Rooney A Courtroom Drama

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Sheen, Chanel Cresswell, Natalia Tena, and Simon Coury will star in ‘Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama’.
The ‘Good Omens’ actor will play Coleen Rooney’s high profile barrister David Sherborne in the Channel 4 drama, a dramatisation of the 2022 High Court battle that gripped the UK and was dubbed the ‘Wagatha Christie’ case.
‘This Is England’ actress Chanel will take on the role of Coleen, while ‘Harry Potter’ star Natalia will play fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy.
Simon will portray Rebekah’s barrister, Hugh Tomlinson, who has previously represented the likes of King Charles.
Dion Lloyd is to play Coleen’s husband, former England captain Wayne Rooney, while Márton Nagyszokolyai will star as Rebekah’s significant other, Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy.
The two-part film recreates the high drama, high stakes High Court defamation case that followed after Coleen took to social media in 2019 to claim Rebekah’s Instagram account had been leaking “false stories” to the press.
Rebekah, 40, then took legal action against her fellow WAG, as she denied being responsible for the leaks.
In July, it was revealed Coleen had won the ‘Wagatha Christie’ case against Rebekah.
In the High Court verdict on July 29th, judge Mrs Justice Steyn ruled that it was “likely” that Vardy’s then-agent Caroline Watt “undertook the direct act” of passing information on.
The judge said: “Nonetheless, the evidence clearly shows, in my view, that Mrs Vardy knew of and condoned this behaviour, actively engaging in it by directing Ms Watt to the private Instagram account, sending her screenshots of Mrs Rooney’s posts, drawing attention to items of potential interest to the press, and answering additional queries raised by the press via Ms Watt.
“In my judgment, the conclusions that I have reached as to the extent to which the claimant engaged in disclosing to The Sun information to which she only had access as a permitted follower of an Instagram account which she knew, and Mrs Rooney repeatedly asserted, was private, suffice to show the single meaning is substantially true.”
‘Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama’ will air later this year.

Ekin-Su Culculoglu ‘excited’ to show Davide Sanclimenti her ‘sexy’ Dancing on Ice outfits

OHMYGOSSIP — Ekin-Su Culculoglu is looking forward to to showing Davide Sanclimenti her “sexy” ‘Dancing on Ice’ outfits.
The ‘Love Island’ star is excited to to see how her 27-year-old boyfriend – who she won the ITV2 dating competition with earlier this summer – reacts to her skimpy skating looks on the ITV ice-skating show next year, but admits he hasn’t realised she will have a male partner on the programme.
The 28-year-old reality television personality told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Davide has no idea what is coming! He is like, ‘Oh ‘Dancing on Ice’! Baby I love you, congratulations!’
“But he has never seen it … all these sexy outfits and I am going to have a male partner! We will see how he reacts but it’s good. The fact that he doesn’t know makes me excited.”
Ekin-Su isn’t bothered about the so-called reality show curse – coined after several ‘Strictly’ and ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestants ended up in relationships with their professional partners – because she needs to be “busy” to keep her love with Davide alight.
She said: “The relationships which have failed are because they had no trust. No foundation. I like being busy.
“If I had nothing to do I would guarantee we would break up. The fact that I have got hobbies and distractions makes me more confident in myself because if it doesn’t work out with Davide I’ve got my stuff going on anyway.”
Ekin-Su is excited to “tone up” in training before she hits the rink and be judged by Oti Mabuse, Ashley Banjo, and ice skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean,
She said: “The one thing that happens when you ice skate is it tones your a*** because you are always lifting your leg and the skates are very heavy.
“I will definitely work out a bit more so I will be in shape for the ice.”
Ekin-Su – who will compete alongside reality TV star Joey Essex, Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton, ex ‘EastEnders’ actress Patsy Palmer, and former footballer John Fashanu, among others – has victory on her mind, admitting she is “ready” to win at any cost.
She said: “I am ready to break my head, I am ready to fall over! Honestly I don’t care! It is impossible to skate without falling – you are on ice!
“I’m not being funny, that is the whole process of it. I like to fall over and laugh and then carry on. As long as I get back up and I smash it – I don’t care!”

Jamie Lee Curtis says Laurie Strode is her ‘legacy’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Lee Curtis has described Laurie Strode as her “legacy”.
The 63-year-old star is bidding farewell to the iconic ‘Halloween’ character after 44 years in the latest movie ‘Halloween Ends’ and is grateful to be associated with the part.
Jamie – who was honoured with a hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Wednesday (12.10.22) – told Variety: “The universal understanding of Laurie Strode is that as this original ‘final girl’ she never gave up, always pushing through no matter what.
“It is beyond comprehension that that is my legacy. I feel like I haven’t given up, that I have continued to try, but not at the level of Laurie Strode.”
The ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ star continued: “What I’ve gotten from her is way more than she’s gotten from me. Because when I’m gone, her legacy will be mine.
“Now, of course, I have my children, and that’s crucial. But in the films, she is my legacy, and I could not be prouder of any legacy – unless it’s like Mother Teresa or, you know, a great great Nelson Mandela or somebody like that – but in a film character, there’s not one you could name that I would rather be than Laurie Strode.”
Jamie’s ‘Halloween Ends’ co-star Andi Matichak says it was “surreal” to be working with the horror icon in her final outing as Laurie Strode.
She said: “It’s been incredibly surreal. Getting to be along this last ride for Jamie Lee and getting to watch her, and walk alongside her, as she takes her last walk in Laurie Strode’s shoes, and take the most elegant bow I think you could for a character… The way that she brings the depth to this, she does her such justice in this film.”

Brendan Fraser: Batgirl axing is tragic

OHMYGOSSIP — Brendan Fraser says the cancellation of ‘Batgirl’ is “tragic”.
The 53-year-old actor had been set to go up against Leslie Grace’s heroine as the pyromaniac Firefly in the HBO Max project but it was axed after the merger between Discovery and WarnerMedia, a move that has left ‘The Mummy’ star feeling an enormous sense of disappointment.
Brendan told Variety: “It’s tragic. It doesn’t engender trust among filmmakers and the studio. Leslie Grace was fantastic. She’s a dynamo, just a spot-on performer.”
The star spent months filming in Glasgow and said that the production had been both “real and exciting” and differed from a typical superhero blockbuster.
Brendan said: “Everything that we shot was real and exciting and just the antithesis of doing a straightforward digital all green screen thing. They ran firetrucks around downtown Glasgow at 3 in the morning and they had flamethrowers.
“It was a big-budget movie, but one that was just stripped down to the essentials.”
Fraser praised directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah for the work they had done on the unreleased movie and revealed that he is yet to see the rough cut of the project that the filmmakers had created.
He said: “I don’t eat half baked cake. Everything that Adil and Bilall shot felt real and exciting.”
Michael Keaton had been due to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the film and suggested that Warner Bros made a “business decision” to scrap the $90 million project.
The 71-year-old star said: “I think it was a business decision. I’m going to assume it was a good one. I really don’t know.”

Covid-hit Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly miss picking up 21st NTA Best Presenter trophy

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly missed picking up their 21st consecutive Best Presenter trophy at the National Television Awards as they are ill with Covid.
The duo also won the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award at the ceremony in London’s Wembley Arena on Thursday. (13.10.22)
The Bruce Forsyth gong went to ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’, with ‘Emmerdale’ actor Danny Miller, 31, who won last year’s series of the ITV show, accepting the gong along with several other competitors from the 21st season.
Danny said: “On behalf of Ant and Dec who have Covid so they can’t be here tonight, Stephen Mulhern is in the crowd so I’m not sure why he’s not accepting for them.
“I’d like to say on behalf of the crew and castmates, although we had to have an evacuation, they managed to get us back on and we all got paid.
“A massive thank you to everyone who voted and everyone who made the show what it is. A massive thanks to the cast and crew and best of luck back in Australia.”
‘I’m A Celeb’ was nominated alongside ‘The Graham Norton Show’, ‘Taskmaster’ and ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’.
Ant and Dec’s repeated presenting wins have previously caused a row, with former ‘Good Moring Britain’ host Piers Morgan hitting out at the decision year when they scooped their 20th win in a row.
He tweeted at the time: “Wow! What a shock! Congrats to Ant and Dec. Thoroughly deserved 20th consecutive win – the way they held those jungle contestants to account during the pandemic was absolutely brilliant.”
Earlier in the evening, Piers, who was absent from the 2021 show, also told fans online about how he knew he was likely to lose: “UPDATE: The @OfficialNTAs asked me who would accept the award on my behalf if I won Presenter of the Year. If I’ve won, I’ll come down and accept it myself’, I replied excitedly, rapidly dusting off my Tux and tickling my speech. Since then, deafening silence.”
He also mocked the fact Ant and Dec win the sole presenter award each year, saying: “There are two of them and it’s a singular award, ‘Presenter of the Year’.”

Martin Lewis scoops first Expert gong at 2022 NTAs – plus full list of winners

OHMYGOSSIP — Financial advisor Martin Lewis scooped the first Expert gong at the 2022 National Television Awards as the cost of living crisis intensifies.
He said he didn’t expect to win as one of his fellow nominees in the new category was Sir David Attenborough, along with Jay Blades and Kaleb Cooper.
The finance journalist turned Moneysupermarket.com founder told the crowd at London’s Wembley Area on Thursday (13.10.22) when picking up his trophy: “When you’re up against a treasure like David Attenborough, you don’t expect to win. Whoever said we’ve had enough of experts, we haven’t. We need them more than ever.
“It’s been a pretty horrible year financially. I’m afraid the next year, with the mortgage problem and the knock on to rents, is going to be pretty bad and we need someone to get a grip on the economy and put things better.
“I’ll leave that to my show which is back on next Tuesday – tonight this nerd is going to party.”
Other big winners at the ceremony included Anton Du Beke for TV Judge, ‘Peaky Blinders’ for Returning Drama, Lenny Henry for the Special Recognition Award and ITV’s ‘Thriller Point’ for Best New Drama, accepted by actress Vicky McClure.
She said: “What’s incredible about the NTAs – it’s the fans and viewers and that’s what matters in television.
“I want to say thank you to Jed Mercurio (show writer) and to our wonderful directors and everyone who worked on this.”
Thanking his wife Hannah Summers and executive producer Sarah James for his win, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Anton said when picking up his award: “Thank you to everyone who voted, who’s watching the show. Thank you to my wife.
“Sarah James… let me tell you about Sarah James. I love this woman, she’s the great thing to happen to television, thank you for giving me the job. That’s why I love her, I won’t deny. Thank you so much.”
Members of the England lionesses football squad presented ‘Peaky Blinders’ with Returning Drama, with show creator and screenwriter Steven Knight saying in his acceptance speech about plans to turn it into a film: “Thank you to all our fans. It’s been a great journey. It’s become a global thing and the most important thing is the British fans who spotted it early, made it what it is and that’s what this is all about.
“We’re going to keep going, we’re going to make a film, we start shooting in spring.”
Matt Lucas presented the Comedy Award, which went to Ricky Gervais’ ‘After Life’.
Ricky – who has previously advised award winners when presenting the Golden Globes to keep their victory speeches short and devoid of political and ‘woke’ statements – said: “Thank you so much – a genuine surprise.
“I’ll keep It brief – my feet are killing me. Thank you to the amazing cast and crew. Thank you to Netflix and thank you to everyone who voted.”
Emmerdale took best Serial Drama over shows including EastEnders and Neighbours, which was nominated after its 37 years on TV ended in July.
Late The Wanted singer Tom Parker, who died aged 33 in March following a battle with brain cancer, was honoured a posthumous nomination for his documentary, ‘Inside My Head’.
Winner of the category was ITV host Kate Garraway’s documentary about caring for her Covid-stricken husband Derek, believed to be Britain’s longest suffering patient with the disease.

NTA winners Ant and Dec ‘bed-bound with Covid’

OHMYGOSSIP — The National Television Awards’ Best Presenter winners Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are suffering flu-like symptoms and are “bed-bound” with Covid.
They missed picking up their award for the 21st consecutive year due to being stricken with the illness.
A source told MailOnline on Thursday (13.10.22) about their condition: “Ant and Dec are gutted. They love the NTAs, it’s the best night in TV, and for them it’s an event they always look forward to.
“They’re both feeling really poorly but will be watching the show from bed and hope to be well and working again soon.”
A spokesperson for the pair added to the outlet: “After both feeling unwell Ant and Dec have tested for Covid and unfortunately have both tested positive. The duo will be postponing work commitments whilst they recover.”
The pair confirmed news they were ill on their Instagram account, sharing a picture of their positive tests and joking: “We even get ill together!”
Alison Hammond had been tipped by show host Joel Dommett to end their winning streak as she was also nominated for Best Presenter.
Joel had hailed her the ‘This Morning’ host a “force of nature”, adding to MailOnline before the ceremony on Thursday: “Alison is very popular… it could be the year for Alison to break Ant and Dec’s streak.
“For me it’s a win-win situation and I’m sure it is for them as well.
“Ant and Dec are still so good. If everyone was just voting for them because they’ve won it for 20 years they may as well just win another I would understand, but people don’t vote for them for that. Viewers vote for them because they’re so good still.
“But if it was to go to anyone else then I would be happy for it to go to Alison – she’s a wonderful force of nature, very infectious, and she’s always been that way. Since I met her 10 years ago, she’s always been like that.
“She has been on TV for so long and has become this main presenter the last couple of years, but she was on ‘Big Brother’, ‘I’m A Celeb…’ – she’s had a hell of a career.”
Ant and Dec also won the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award at the ceremony in London’s Wembley Arena, with the gong going to ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
‘Emmerdale’ actor Danny Miller, 31, who won last year’s series of the ITV show, accepted the trophy along with several other competitors from the 21st season.
He said: “On behalf of Ant and Dec who have Covid so they can’t be here tonight, Stephen Mulhern is in the crowd so I’m not sure why he’s not accepting for them.
“I’d like to say on behalf of the crew and castmates, although we had to have an evacuation, they managed to get us back on and we all got paid.
“A massive thank you to everyone who voted and everyone who made the show what it is. A massive thanks to the cast and crew and best of luck back in Australia.”

King Charles’ surprise NTA video tribute for ‘Emmerdale’

OHMYGOSSIP — King Charles surprised the National Television Awards audience with a video message to mark Emmerdale’s 50th birthday.
His Majesty, 73, made an appearance after host Joel Dommett announced the ITV soap’s landmark.
Charles said: “I am delighted to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of ‘Emmerdale’, and I’m afraid I remember when it was called ‘Emmerdale Farm’, owned by the Sugdens.
“It is a testament to all the hard work of the production team that it has since become such an important British institutions and a major British export with hundreds of thousands of fans from Scandinavia and New Zealand, all keen to follow the fortunes of what’s left of the Sugdens and their new neighbours.”
Keen gardener and environmentalist Charles added about the show highlighting country life and sustainability: “What makes ‘Emmerdale’ so special is that it has kept true to original writer, Kevin Laffan, who wanted to demonstrate farming as not just a job, it’s a whole way of life.
“On a daily basis, ‘Emmerdale’ continues to depict what life is really like and for those who work the land and protect our precious countryside. It also stresses brilliantly something that concerns me greatly – the long-term sustainability of the way we produce our food.
“I am heartened by the efforts of the production team off-screen, their ambition to achieve net zero emissions by 2030 making ‘Emmerdale’ one of the first British programmes to be awarded the ‘Albert Certification’, recognising its efforts to reduce the environmental impact of their production, and to produce content that stresses the importance of establishing a sustainable future.
“So it’s only right that the professional television awards acknowledge the enormous contribution ‘Emmerdale’ has made, and I hope everyone that is watching will join me in sending our warmest congratulations on its 50th anniversary, and wishing it an equally successful future.”
The NTAs’ executive producer Kim Turberville said about Charles’ video: “We were delighted to be able to surprise the ‘Emmerdale’ team with such an important message. Fifty years of iconic television out of the North is a huge achievement and rightly deserves to be celebrated in the best way possible.
“It is with great thanks to His Royal Highness for delivering this message to pop the icing on their birthday cake ahead of their very special weekend.”

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby booed at NTAs in wake of ‘Queuegate’

OHMYGOSSIP — Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were booed by members of the audience at the National Television Awards in the wake of the duo’s ‘Queuegate’ row.
They faced the negative reaction when their ‘This Morning’ show was announced as a contender for the Best Daytime Award, despite the presenters being embroiled in controversy last month when they were accused of skipping the queue to see the Queen lying in state – which they both denied.
Despite the backlash, the show took the Daytime award, with Phillip saying the award means “so much” to him and Holly – “especially this year”.
He said on stage: “Please don’t think we ever get complacent and please don’t think we ever take it for granted. This means so much to us every year, especially this year. We have the best boss.”
Thanking a string of fellow TV hosts, Holly added: “This Morning has a very special relationship with you, you make our show for us, you really do.
All these guys on the stage here, Alison (Hammond) and Dermot (O’Leary), Rochelle (Humes) and Vernon (Kay), Josie (Gibson) – everyone. Thank you for all your support.”
ITV had backed the hosts by stating: “They did not jump the queue, have VIP access or file past the Queen lying in state – but instead were there in a professional capacity as part of the world’s media to report on the event.”
Holly and Phil said they had media accreditation and were there in a journalistic capacity to report on events for the ITV daytime show, but many were still outraged by their “queue jumping”.
Graham Norton previously admitted he turned down a “queue jump ticket” to see the Queen’s lying in state but added the duo “did nothing wrong”.
And the woman who created an online petition calling for Holly and Phil to be axed from ‘This Morning’ last month said she was stepping back from the cause after it topped 75,000 signatures, saying it was “kind of destroying me”.
In a post on petition site Change.org, she said: “I’ve asked ITV to deliver any responses relating to this to the public and not to me, as I won’t be following the news, or watching the programme, or sharing anything online, or through social media.
“I want nothing more than for this topic to end. I want positivity, not hostility and negativity. The concerns raised by this have been shared with Ofcom and ITV, and that’s all I can do.
“I want to begin the week on a more positive note, and I don’t want to think about the programme anymore. It’s kind of destroying me. Words will be twisted, but the intent was always to prevent people being hurt time and time again by these TV shows.”

Daisy May Cooper hints at This Country Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy May Cooper has hinted ‘This Country’ could return for a Christmas special.
The 36-year-old actress co-created and co-wrote the BAFTA-winning comedy TV series with her brother Charlie Cooper, starring as Kerry and Lee ‘Kurtan’ Mucklowe respectively, and she admits the pair may “come back to it” after a much-needed break.
She said: “I don’t know, maybe we’ll come back to it. I just needed a bit of a break. We’ll have to go back. Maybe a Christmas special or something. Why not? Make a bit of money.”
Daisy’s latest creation, comedy series ‘Am I Being Unreasonable?’, sees her star opposite best friend Selin Hizli, but the actress wasn’t a big fan of the 33-year-old star when they first met.
Speaking on Saturday’s (15.10.22) ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’, she says: “We met at drama school. You know you can make your mind up on someone in three seconds? I thought, ‘I hate you. Really arrogant.’ I don’t know how, it’s weirdly those people I dislike at the beginning I end up becoming close with.”
‘This Country’ ran for three series from 2017 to 2020, and Daisy’s dad Paul Cooper also appeared in the show.
But she previously joked that working with him was “horrendous”.
She quipped: “Dad was absolutely terrible. He couldn’t remember his lines. It was horrendous.”
Speaking about her brother, Daisy jokingly added: “[Charlie] wasn’t a professional actor. He went to uni to study sport science and then realised he was really thick.”
Daisy studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) – but she doesn’t have fond memories of her experience.
She shared: “I absolutely hated it.
“I’m annoyed now I’ve got to pay my student loan back. One of the lessons used to be, this really old director that we had, he must have been in his 80s, who used to just fall asleep when watching you perform, his only note was, ‘Do it better.’ ”
‘The Jonathan Ross Show’, Saturday at 10pm on ITV and ITV Hub.

Noah Centineo found Black Adam injury ‘funny’

OHMYGOSSIP — Noah Centineo thought it was “funny” when he dislocated his arm filming ‘Black Adam’.
The 26-year-old actor had been filming a scene as Atom Smasher in the new DC Comics film when he decided to change how he approached the clip to make it less serious, but things went badly wrong and he ended up injured.
He explained to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “It was a great day, I was doing sprints.
“I was sprinting a lot. I was coming off a sidewalk and there were parked cars and I thought, on the last take, I thought, let me try to [be funny].
“I just wanted to make it funny, you know? We’ve done it serious so many times, let’s see if we can add humour to it, and it was funny because I pretended to hit my knee. I spun around, threw my arm in the air and it [his arm] dislocated completely.”
Noah tried to put his arm back into the socket but to no avail, and when crew came to his aid, his costume was cut open and on a 13th attempt, the limb finally locked back in – but he then promptly dislocated it again.
He joked: “I tried to get it back in, it wouldn’t go in, they cut it open and on the 13th try they got it back in but I was so excited that it went back in that I was like, ‘Yeah!’ and it went right out again.”
The actor felt it was important to pay tribute to his alter ego’s family background in the movie without drawing too much attention to it.
Asked what was important for him to show about the character, he said: “There’s so much to it, I think wanting to honour his past and his family but not shove it into people’s faces, just the nuance of it. That was important to me. His uncle’s a superhero, he comes from a pretty precarious past as well, with superheroes and villains.”

Whoopi Goldberg wants Nicki Minaj and Lizzo in Sister Act 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Whoopi Goldberg would love Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, and Keke Palmer to be cast in ‘Sister Act 3’.
The 66-year-old star – who plays Deloris Van Cartier in the film franchise – is keen for the rapper, singer, and actress to appear in the forthcoming film, and she wants “as many people who want to have some fun” in the motion picture as possible.
Speaking to host Charlamagne Tha God on Comedy Central’s ‘Hell of A Week’, she said: “I want everybody. I want as many people who want to have some fun, because I really, desperately need to have some fun.”
At the beginning of October, Goldberg gave an update about the hotly-anticipated sequel, admitting she was “waiting for a script at the end of the month”.
Last month, Goldberg admitted she and Jenifer Lewis are “so ready” to film ‘Sister Act 3’, which is to be released on Disney Plus.
Speaking to Lewis on ‘The View’, Goldberg said: “You know we’re still going to do that movie.
“And I’d do everything I can to work with her because she’s fun.”
Lewis, who starred as Michelle in the 1992 original ‘Sister Act’ film, revealed she encouraged Goldberg to use her own singing voice in the movie.
She said: “They were going to use my voice and I told Whoopi, ‘Look, you just get in this mirror with the two of us, and you just get a hairbrush and pretend that we’re 15 years old singing Gladys Knight and the Pips.’ and Whoopi did it, she sang her little booty off.”
The original motion picture saw Goldberg’s character, lounge singer Van Cartier, forced to join a convent after being placed in a witness protection programme.
‘Sister Act 3’ producer Tyler Perry recently admitted the forthcoming film is about Goldberg “more than anything”.
