Jameela Jamil dreaming of a part in Star Wars

OHMYGOSSIP — Jameela Jamil dreams of a role in ‘Star Wars’.
The 36-year-old actress stars in the Marvel series ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’, voiced Wonder Woman in ‘DC League of Super-Pets’ and appeared in the ‘Star Trek’ series ‘Prodigy’ and has revealed that she wants to complete her a “nerd EGOT” by featuring in the epic sci-fi franchise – a reference to the select group stars who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony award.
Speaking at New York Comic Con, Jameela said: “It feels only natural that I should at least be allowed to do catering at ‘Star Wars’. Just as I’ve been referring to my nerd EGOT.
“That would be an ultimate dream come true, and then I’ve fulfilled every 12-year-old fantasy I had.”
Jameela revealed that she would want to be on the dark side if she ever got a part in ‘Star Wars’.
The ‘Good Place’ star said: “I’d take literally anything, but I think a villain.
“I do really love playing the bad guy. I really do enjoy complex characters who start off as immensely unrelatable, who we can find the relatability of.
“I think the reason for that, it’s probably slightly socially political. Right now we are so divided; we almost seek to misunderstand each other. And if we don’t understand each other, we’re never going to be able to find a way back to one another.”
Jameela continued: “And I think that’s also been an overarching theme throughout ‘Star Trek’… We’re decades into this franchise, and I think they have done a really good job at that, and I think that’s something that I’m very drawn to, is helping people understand people who are different to them.”

Harrison Ford ‘is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe’

OHMYGOSSIP — Harrison Ford is reportedly joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The 80-year-old star – who has appeared in some of the biggest film franchises of all time – has been tipped to become the latest big-name actor to join the MCU.
Harrison is set to replace William Hurt – who died in March, aged 71 – as General Thaddeus E. ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross in the Marvel movies.
The Hollywood icon – who is widely known for playing Indiana Jones in the titular film franchise – has been strongly linked with the MCU over recent months.
And according to reporter Jeff Sneider, he’s now signed a deal with Marvel that will see him appear in ‘Captain America: New World Order.
The actor has also been tipped to star in the upcoming superhero movie ‘Thunderbolts’.
Despite this, Harrison previously claimed that Marvel had “killed” the success of its superhero films by releasing too many of them.
The acting legend made the claim during a discussion about the upcoming ‘Indiana Jones’ movie, which is slated for release in 2023.
Harrison – who first starred as the adventurer in ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ in 1981 – said: “I don’t really want to give them what they wanna see, I want to give them something they didn’t anticipate seeing. The Marvel movies are a spectacular example of a success that worked the other way round – they killed it.”
Harrison suggested that he wouldn’t allow the franchise to follow the same path as the Marvel movies.
Speaking about their plans, Harrison said: “We’re not going to make another ‘Indiana Jones’ unless we’re in a position to kill it. We want it to be the best.”
The actor also insisted he wouldn’t commit to another ‘Indiana Jones’ movie unless he was totally convinced by the project.
He explained: “We’re determined to get it right before we get it made.”

Brendan Fraser felt ‘existential’ shooting The Whale during the COVID-19 pandemic

OHMYGOSSIP — Brendan Fraser had an “existential feeling” shooting ‘The Whale’ during COVID-19.
The 53-year-old actor stars as recluse Charlie in the new drama film – which is based on the play of the same name – who reaches out to his long-lost daughter for support when he realises he is eating himself to death and paid tribute to director Darren Aronofsky as he remembered shooting the project during the pandemic.
He said: “Absolutely. He’s a world class filmmaker, I was thrilled and privileged to work with him. He had everything mapped out from the apartment being taped out for a three-week rehearsal before we began filming. We could have done it as an Off-Broadway play, which would make sense because it was a play adapted to the screenplay by Sam Hunter. So we knew our part and we knew how to play the music before we arrived on the set itself and in an environment as confined apartment as it is – a two-bedroom apartment somewhere in Idaho where Charlie lives – it was kind of like a submarine crew in there. But we were cohesive and let’s not forget we shot this during the time of COVID with protocols and restrictions in place and the very existential feeling that we all felt is ‘Will there be a tomorrow?’ in essence.”
‘The Mummy’ actor – who stars alongside Hong Chau, Sadie Sink in the movie – added that the reaction to the pandemic is evident on screen in the performances of his co-stars.
He told HeyUGuys: “Somehow, when I watch the film, that trickles down to the performances that are given and the actors look like they’re doing it for the first and last time that they ever will.”
‘The Whale’ is set to be released on 9 December.

Russell Crowe denies claims he had terrible audition for My Best Friend’s Wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell Crowe has denied claims he had a terrible audition for ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’.
Director PJ Hogan previously said Crowe did “one of the worst table reads I’ve ever experienced” for the 1997 romantic comedy with Julia Roberts and he wasn’t right for the movie but Crowe is disputing the claims.
He tweeted: “Pure imagination on behalf of this director. I did not audition for this film. I have never done a table read with the actress mentioned. Would be funny if it wasn’t so pointless.”
Hogan made the allegations to author Scott Meslow in the book ‘From Hollywood With Love’, saying: “I don’t know what went wrong. It was one of the worst table reads I’ve ever experienced. Russell was seated opposite Julia. He gripped that script, and he stared at that script, and he didn’t look at her once. He read every line in a monotone.
“At one point, Julia was literally leaning over the table, staring, like, inches from Russell’s face, trying to make eye contact. And he wouldn’t look at her. At the end of the reading, Russell came up to me and said, ‘I thought that went pretty well.’ And then I knew: Russell was not going to be in ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’.”
Russell was reportedly auditioning for the role of Michael, the titular best friend, and the role ultimately went to Dermot Mulroney.

Janelle Monáe wants to emulate Johnny Depp’s career

OHMYGOSSIP — Janelle Monáe wants to emulate Johnny Depp’s movie career.
The 36-year-old singer and actress revealed she admires 59-year-old Johnny’s career path and she would love to follow in his footsteps.
Speaking at a special Q A at the BFI London Film Festival ahead of the European premiere of ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’, she said: “When I think about careers, this person as an actor, his life as an actor only, it’s Johnny Depp.
“The amount of roles, from ‘Willy Wonka’, to ‘Sweeney Todd’, to all of the dramatic roles, [I want to do] whatever is the Janelle Monáe version of that, with those transformative characters that people are dressing up as on Halloween. I’m thinking that level. I’m ready to go there. Something grounded, but embedded in the hearts and minds of children.”
And she also admires the late David Bowie.
She said: “I’ve always had like a world-building mind, and I never saw my music career as something that shouldn’t limit anything. It was like, ‘No, we can go far’. I mean, David Bowie did these things, so why can’t I do these things? What’s the difference?”
Janelle made her movie debut in Barry Jenkins’ 2016 Oscar winner ‘Moonlight’, but admitted she actually had different plans for her first film role.
She said: “I actually wanted my first film to be science fiction. “But I was so happy it was ‘Moonlight’, because it meant a lot to a lot of people.”

Sean Astin: Lord of the Rings defined my whole life

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean Astin says starring in ‘Lord of the Rings’ “defined” his whole life.
The 51-year-old actor played the role of Samwise Gamgee in the original trilogy of the fantasy film franchise – which is based on the novel series by J.R.R Tolkien – and reflected on how much the part changed his life after the inaugural movie ‘Fellowship of the Ring’ celebrated its 20th anniversary.
He said: “the movies are 20 years old. You’ve got this DVD set now, the 31 DVDs, this ultimate collection. It’s the super ultimate, you-got-to-be-kidding-me, ridiculous, I-didn’t-know-that-there-was-so-much-love-in-the-world collection of Lord of the Rings. [And] for me, nothing can take away the movies. Nothing can take away the 20 years of fandom that’s come at me, all the conventions and autographs and interviews and the awards shows, and everything that’s gone into it. It’s defined my whole life from my 30s to my 50s. Nothing can ever take that [away].”
The ‘Stranger Things’ star went on to add that he can now enjoy reading the book series without worrying over whether he would work again after shooting the initial movies.
He told Collider: “So now I can actually afford to read the books without pressure, without the pressure of my career, and [thinking] ‘What’s the impact going to be on my career? What are my agents going to think?’ All of that stuff that operates in your neurology, when I was making my bones, so to speak. But now my acting career is going to go where it’s going to go. I’ll continue to work. When I finished ‘Lord of the Rings’, I was like, ‘What if I never work again?’ [Director] Peter Jackson teased me at one point. Because we were playing these little hobbits. And it’s cute, and it’s funny, and it’s sweet. But in a way, we’re diminutive.”

Anna Richardson’s new boyfriend revealed

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Richardson’s new boyfriend has been revealed as Simon Marks.
The 52-year-old TV presenter – who split from long-term girlfriend and former ‘Great British Bake Off’ host Sue Perkins in 2021 after seven years of dating – recently revealed she has found love again and the pair were spotted walking together in London this week.
According to MailOnline, Simon works for a mentoring foundation and “wrote a book ‘How To Live With an Alpha Female’ about his marriage to film producer and sex author Mel Agace.
A friend told the publication: “Anna and Simon have been together for about eight months, although they were keeping it low-key initially.
“She’s really very happy – absolutely head-over-heels in love with him.”
Speaking recently about the key to a successful relationship, Anna said: “It’s all about communication and rapport, and understanding the other person enough that [you know what] it is that they need for you. For example, this morning – I’m dating, I’ve got a boyfriend – and already my boyfriend has said to me ‘I haven’t spent enough time with you’, so his love language is time – he needs my time to feel loved.
“Whereas actually, I quite like to receive texts saying [something like] ‘I’m thinking about you and I love you’. So people need to be aware of how their partner does their love language.”
The ‘Naked Attraction’ host added that she was introduced to dating apps by friends and even though she eventually met her new beau through mutual friends, she still thinks the concept of apps such as Badoo is “brilliant”.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I have been introduced to apps [while dating], but actually I ended up meeting somebody through friends of friends. Yeah, so again, I just got really, really lucky that someone was compatible in my friendship circle. So many girlfriends of mine have met through apps and I know they’re brilliant.”

Jessica Fox pregnant

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Fox is pregnant.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actress – who is best known for playing Nancy Hayton in the Channel 4 soap – revealed that after suffering two heartbreaking miscarriages, she and her husband Nicholas Willes are expecting a baby together next year.
She shared a picture of her baby scan on Instagram and wrote: “This week has been baby loss awareness week. So it seemed a good (and bad) time to share our story at the end of such an important and heartbreaking campaign and to show our support to all those who have been or are going through a similar journey.
“Trigger warning: Trying to conceive and conceiving after loss. Please make use of the mute or unfollow button if any of this is too much for you.
“Out of difficulties, grow miracles.
“Due spring 2023.”
She added: “Nick and I have been on a rocky road to get to this point. Miscarriage is awful, there is no other word for it. It robs you of the future you had planned, your faith in your body, it’s isolating, lonely, frightening and nobody seems to talk about it. It’s incredibly painful, it’s pass out in your bathroom painful.
“It takes away the joy and excitement when and if you choose (and are able) to get pregnant again. It’s replaced by anxiety, stress and more fear than I ever could have imaged.
“Nick and I lost two babies in 2021. Both losses were at the end of the first trimester and completely heartbreaking.”
Jessica added how difficult it was when her ‘Hollyoaks’ alter-ego got pregnant.
She said: “In a cruel twist of fate, when I got pregnant the second time, the character I play on ‘Hollyoaks’ was pregnant too. On Twitter and Instagram I would see comments that I must be pregnant in real life. I looked pregnant almost straight away and I had started to put on weight.
“I started to show at work, I felt very smug that I’d have the most realistic baby bump ever. Maybe my actual baby could play my child on screen? The wardrobe department, who are the kindest people on earth, were the only ones who knew I was expecting.
“Then I lost the baby. On the Friday, I had a real bump, on the Monday I was putting on a fake one. It was every bit as horrific as it sounds. I tried to keep it a secret and get on with it. Sharing this on social media is not something I ever expected to do.
“On my due date, at work, I was handed a beautiful tiny baby and I cried uncontrollably throughout the whole scene. The director, not knowing my situation must have thought I was fantastic – I was broken. My mental health was s***.
“I’d given up sleep, I’d developed a fear of driving, intrusive thoughts and we think a form of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). A holiday, meditation, the NHS and most important time, things improved massively and I hope they burned that bloody bump.
“On holiday in Greece, I saw the most beautiful rainbow, I was pregnant by the time I got home.
“At 20 weeks, our baby is healthy and growing. Due spring 2023.”

Jennifer Lawrence only produces movies to work with people she admires

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lawrence only produces movies so she can work with people she admires.
The 32-year-old actress produces and stars in the leading role of Apple+ movie ‘Causeway’ – which tells the story of a US soldier who suffers a traumatic brain injury while fighting in Afghanistan and struggles to adjust to life back home – and admitted that she wanted to have a hand in overseeing the production so she could offer “freedom” to director Lila Neugebauer
“It was just one of those things where I was reading it and it’s really rare to read something with the melody and the slow-building rhythm that this movie has. I love Marvel movies or superheroes as much as the next person but there was something so refreshing about this. I hadn’t seen something like this since ‘Winter’s Bone’. So I felt adamant that I really really wanted to make this. I didn’t know when because I was still on my hiatus and after getting dinner with Lila , I just knew that she was the person and we were shooting three months later.”
“I really just only want to produce to be able to work with people that I’m a fan of or who I’m excited by and just to protect their creative process so the most important job for me as a producer was making sure that Lila had the freedom to follow her instincts and do what she does best. I just tried to hide quietly in the corner unless somebody called me.”
Meanwhile, the Oscar-winning actress added that working with co-star Brian Tyree Henry was a “very quick bonding experience” as they tried to figure out their characters together.

Jamie Lee Curtis thanks godson Jake Gyllenhaal for rebooting her Hollywood career

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Lee Curtis has thanked her godson Jake Gyllenhaal for rebooting her Hollywood career.
The ‘Halloween’ actress, 63, said the actor, 41, is responsible for getting her to star in the reboot of the horror franchise that made her name, which she said has led to a career renaissance.
Jamie told NME about agreeing to reprise her role as terrorised babysitter Laurie Strode from John Carpenter’s 1978 ‘Halloween’ hit in director David Gordon Green’s 2018 take on the slasher film: “It wasn’t even a thought in my head to do another ‘Halloween’ movie.
“I didn’t want to, but then I got a call from Jake Gyllenhaal, my godson who I’ve known since he was a little boy. Jake had worked with David Gordon Green and he said David wanted to speak to me. So I told him to pass my number along and the phone rang again just a minute later.”
Jamie added about David’s version of ‘Halloween’: “David had hidden an indie drama in the middle of a horror film. He made something intimate that was layered in bloody tissue and exploding heads. I read it in about an hour and called him back immediately, ‘OK, let’s go’.”
David’s ‘Halloween’ had the highest-grossing opening weekend for a film with a female lead over the age of 55 in history and was soon picked up for another two sequels also starring Jamie.
Jamie added: “There was no mention of a trilogy when we started in 2018. I didn’t think I would do it ever again. Later, David mentioned that there were these three stories – ‘Halloween’, ‘Halloween Kills’ and ‘Halloween Ends’. And here we are.
“I am a creature of habit. I am at my core loyal – and I’m loyal to Laurie. I will look back on my life and think that was a good quality.
“That film (‘Halloween’ 2018) changed my entire life. More so (thank the original.) At 63, I have an entire career.
“Now I’m a producer. I’m a writer, I’m a director, I’m an active boss, I’m a creative partner. I can collaborate with artists in a way that I’ve always dreamed of. I never expected to be making the movies that I’m making now.
“I’m looking at this as a decade of creativity, 60 to 70, that I never expected.
“I always knew I was an incredible collaborator, but all of a sudden my life has exploded creatively.”
