Damon Lindelof writing new Star Wars movie

OHMYGOSSIP — A new ‘Star Wars’ movie is in the works.
Damon Lindelof is co-writing the latest project in the hit sci-fi franchise with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy attached to direct.
It is not yet known who Lindelof’s writing partner is and insiders suggest that the movie is not close to heading into production yet as the script is still being written.
According to Deadline, both Lindelof and Lucasfilm were keen to bring the ‘Ms. Marvel’ director on board so the filmmaker’s vision can be included in the screenplay.
The project is one of the most closely-guarded secrets in Hollywood but insiders suggest that it has the most momentum of all the ‘Star Wars’ films that are currently lined up – including from directors Patty Jenkins and Taika Waititi.
‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ was the last movie in the franchise and was released in 2019, with Lucasfilm placing focus on TV projects ever since.
The studio say they have a number of projects in development and do not wish to rush the next set of movies until they get a satisfactory story.
Patty had been set to helm the film ‘Star Wars: Rogue Squadron’ but it has now been delayed due to the director’s other work commitments.
Jenkins and writer Matthew Robinson have been developing the project with Lucasfilm for more than a year and it was set to go into preproduction by the end of this year.
However, insiders say that the producers and filmmaking team realised that Jenkins’ schedule and other commitments wouldn’t allow for the time needed to make the movie next year.
‘Rogue Squadron’ has now been taken off the production schedule, although the release date of December 2023 currently remains in place.

Lydia Hearst tried to keep everyone ‘safe’ on the set of Slayers

OHMYGOSSIP — Lydia Hearst tried to keep everyone “safe” on the set of ‘Slayers.’
The 38-year-old actress stars as Liz in the new horror -which sees a group of fictional online celebrities targeted by vampires at a billionaire’s mansion – and admitted she wanted everyone to feel “comfortable” during the shoot.
She said: ” it was just sort of making sure we made it to location, everyone stays safe and was comfortable and confident, and that was what was really nice that we were all in it together, and we all managed to get to the location in Arizona, we were safe, and we made through the production. We got to work with local teams that were there with the special effects, and it was a good experience. I think we just got incredibly lucky!”
The former model went on to add that she had committed to the project before COVID-19 hit and that the cast – which also includes the likes of Abigail Breslin and Kara Hayward – was able to “bond” because the movie was shot at the “height” of the pandemic.
She told ScreenRant: “I signed before the pandemic, and then we actually started filming at the height of the pandemic. So, in a weird way, I think it actually bonded all of us together, because we were really just in it together, we were quarantined together in New Mexico and were just on for this wild and crazy ride making this movie. So, it was a lot of fun and great working with such an incredible and fantastically talented ensemble cast, and it really just brought new life to the production and this film, and we just had fun.”
‘Slayers’ is out in cinemas and available to stream now.

Ant and Dec making a new quiz show for ITV

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec are making a new quiz show.
The popular duo are developing a pilot for an ITV programme that will involve celebrity contestants through their production company Mitre as it could air next year.
However, it is unlikely that the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’ hosts will end up presenting the unnamed show.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper: “Whether they’re in front of the camera or behind it, Ant and Dec are still viewed as a duo who have the Midas touch when it comes to making telly.
“Their win at the NTAs and the fact they’re off to the jungle for the 22nd series shows how popular their programmes still are.
“So their new project is likely to be much-anticipated by ITV bosses.
“The only disappointment will be that they aren’t working on the basis that they’ll be the presenters.
“But they’re already incredibly busy with their other projects they’re already the face of.”
Ant and Dec picked up their 21st consecutive Best Presenter trophy at the National Television Awards earlier this month but missed out on the ceremony at Wembley Arena as they were ill with coronavirus.
A source said at the time: “Ant and Dec are gutted. They love the NTAs, it’s the best night in TV, and for them it’s an event they always look forward to.
“They’re both feeling really poorly but will be watching the show from bed and hope to be well and working again soon.”
A spokesperson for the pair said: “After both feeling unwell Ant and Dec have tested for Covid and unfortunately have both tested positive. The duo will be postponing work commitments whilst they recover.”

Tim Burton won’t make a Marvel movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Tim Burton has no interest in making a Marvel movie.
The 64-year-old filmmaker has revealed that he has no plans to make a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as he lamented how Disney have prioritised the superhero movies and franchises such as ‘Star Wars’.
Speaking at the Lumiere Film Festival in Lyon, Tim said: “It’s gotten to be very homogenized, very consolidated. There’s less room for different types of things.
“I can only deal with one universe, I can’t deal with a multi-universe.”
Burton reflected on his work with Disney – where he started his career as an animator in the 1980s – and said that the 2019 live-action adaptation of ‘Dumbo’ is likely to be his last project with the studio.
The director – whose credits include ‘Mars Attacks!’ and ‘Alice in Wonderland’ – explained: “My history is that I started out there. I was hired and fired like several times throughout my career there.
“The thing about ‘Dumbo’, is that’s why I think my days with Disney are done, I realised that I was Dumbo, that I was working in this horrible big circus and I needed to escape. That movie is quite autobiographical at a certain level.”
Tim remained coy about reports that he is developing a sequel to his 1988 film ‘Beetlejuice’ by insisting that “nothing is out of the question” when it comes to the potential movie.
He said: “I only know if I’m making a film when I’m actually on the set shooting. I try to go back to the root of everything. It springs from a seed and then it grows, rather than out of these statements.
“I am working on ideas and things but it’s all very early days. We’ll see how it goes. How’s that for a none answer?”

America Ferrera becomes latest Dumb Money star

OHMYGOSSIP — America Ferrera has become the latest star to join the ‘Dumb Money’ cast.
The ‘Ugly Betty’ actress has boarded the starry ensemble for Craig Gillespie’s movie that includes Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Pete Davidson, Shailene Woodley, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Ramos, Dane DeHaan and Vincent D’Onofrio.
The film focuses on the January 2021 “short squeeze” movement around the video game retail chain GameStop. The incident saw users of the Reddit page ‘Wall Street Bets’ come together to increase the stock values of the company, which had been suffering from lagging stock prices for several years.
The situation resulted in major hedge funds and independent short sellers suffering significant financial losses and led to calls for more regulation of the stock market.
The movie puts the spotlight on the Reddit users behind the squeeze and principal photography on the project is now underway.
It is based on the book ‘The Antisocial Network’ by Ben Mezrich. Rebecca Angelo and Lauren Schuker Blum are adapting the story for the big screen.
Sony landed distribution rights for the movie after it was announced at the Toronto Film Festival this year.
America has also been cast in the hotly-anticipated new ‘Barbie’ movie and will join stars such as Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu in the project.
The 38-year-old star’s part in the film – which is slated for release in July 2023 – has not been disclosed.
Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach have written the script for the Warner Bros movie, with the former set to direct.
Margot will produce the movie via her LuckyChap production company alongside her husband, LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerley.
Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner and Paddington’s David Heyman will also produce.

James Buckley says The Inbetweeners gives him toilet trouble

OHMYGOSSIP — James Buckley avoids using public toilets because he always gets approached by ‘Inbetweeners’ fans.
The 35-year-old actor is famous for playing foul-mouthed teenager Jay Cartwright in the popular sitcom, and although he is always happy to meet fans he doesn’t appreciate it when he is stopped mid-flow at the urinal by people who want to talk to him about the programme.
Speaking on the Headstrong podcast, he said: “I don’t feel comfortable enough to use a urinal anymore. I haven’t used one for years, I’ve always got to go to a cubicle because it has happened, I’m there with it out and people are trying to talk to me about ‘The Inbetweeners’. I’m like, ‘Do you want to give me 30 seconds…’”
Although it can be tricky for him to use public toilets, James says that nearly all ‘Inbetweeners’ fans are lovely and only want to talk to him so they can share their love of the programme.
However, James – who is is one of the top earning celebrities on video messaging service Cameo thanks to his Jay insults – doesn’t think he’ll ever get used to being recognised in public.
He shared: “I never considered being famous or anything like that. I’ve got a very low level of fame, but it’s still unusual, it doesn’t feel very natural, it feels very odd. I just wanted to be an actor, more specifically I just wanted to make people laugh on television. I didn’t really consider that there might be a chance that people would recognise me if I walked down the street. It’s not something that I really thought too much about at the time. It is a bit odd. I don’t want people to have a preconception of me. People are usually just very disappointed when they meet me.
“Usually people are alright. I think I’ve been very lucky as people seem to quite like Jay from The Inbetweeners. Everyone is usually very nice to me, which is a lovely way to love your life. I think it might be different if I was like a soap villain. Those people get attacked in the street, ‘You killed Tiffany!’”

Caroline Quentin: Men Behaving Badly won’t come back

OHMYGOSSIP — Caroline Quentin doesn’t think ‘Men Behaving Badly’ could be made today.
The 1990s sitcom starred Martin Clunes and Neil Morrisey as flatmates Gary and Tony who spend most of their time drinking lager and talking about women.
The 62-year-old actress played Gary’s long suffering girlfriend Dorothy, but she doesn’t think a return is likely following the death of the show’s producer Beryl Vertue and the fact that many of the jokes were not politically correct.
She said: “I don’t think it could work [in the woke world]. Beryl Vertue, our esteemed producer, passed away last year. I’ve seen her daughters. And I just don’t think – without Beryl, it wouldn’t be right. She was the heart and soul of that show.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Jonathan Creek’ actress – who is married to actor Sam Farmer, with whom she has two children Rose and William – has teamed up with her daughter to star in George Bernard Shaw play ‘Mrs. Warren’s Profession’ which is about a mother who secretly supports her daughter by running a brothel.
Caroline said: “It’s still quite shocking, some of it. It’s quite a bold play and some of the things are challenging but funny even now. For me, one of the great thing is I look across the rehearsal room and I see one of the three people I love more than anybody else in the whole world. It’s quite rare to go to work and have that. I am hoping audiences will enjoy that.”
In the joint interview, Rose explained that her mother was initially unsure about her pursuing a career in acting.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, she said: “She said to me ‘Are you sure? There are many things you could be. A doctor? A lawyer? Anything! Annoyingly, I don’t remember not wanting to do it.”
Caroline added: “When granny was alive I remember going to see Rose in a school play and she delivered a really good first opening line and it got a massive laugh. This look came on her face and granny turned to me and went ‘Oh God, we’ve got another one!’ It was a terrible joke about sheep poo!'”
‘Mrs. Warren’s Profession’ is touring the UK until December before resuming in April 2023.

Jodie Whittaker made her final appearance as the Thirteenth Doctor in BBC Centenary Special ‘The Power of the Doctor’ on BBC One on Sunday night (23.10.22), and viewers were left shocked and surprised when she regenerated into a familiar face, that of Tennant’s Tenth Doctor.
Russell has now revealed that this incarnation of the Time Lord is actually the Fourteenth Doctor and he has teased that fans can expect “plenty more surprises” in the three specials coming in November 2023 to mark the sci-fi show’s 60th anniversary before Ncuti Gatwa becomes the Fifteenth Doctor.
In a statement, Russell, 59, said: “If you thought the appearance of David Tennant was a shock, we’ve got plenty more surprises on the way! The path to Ncuti’s Fifteenth Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger, and fun!
“And how is it connected to the return of the wonderful Donna Noble? How, what, why? We’re giving you a year to speculate, and then all hell lets loose!”
David, 51, is back in ‘Doctor Who’ along with Catherine Tate, who is reprising her role as the Tenth Doctor’s companion Donna Noble.

Paul Feig hopes to make The School for Good and Evil sequels

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Feig hopes to make sequels to ‘The School for Good and Evil’.
The 60-year-old director has helmed the new Netflix fantasy film that is based on Soman Chainani’s novel of the same name and hopes to take the story forward as there are six books in the series to adapt.
Paul told Entertainment Weekly: “The goal is definitely for this to be a franchise.
“That’s the plan going forward, just take all the material of these books, and hopefully make a franchise out of it. We love the characters, love the world. The books are super fun and very dense.”
The ‘Bridesmaids’ director says there is a lot that he still wants to explore on screen as he couldn’t fit everything from the first book into the film.
Paul explained: “Look, if we were to shoot everything in the first book, the movie would cost billions of dollars.
“You take the things that the audience, the readers, and the fans love from the books and then you retrofit them in a way to still make it your own but in a way that they’re going to be happy.”
The director continued: “You’re also going to have an audience who doesn’t know the books, or an audience who’s just experiencing it without having to know the material – I’m very against any movies where you have to know things before you go there.”
Paul wanted to make sure that fans who had never read ‘The School for Good and Evil’ could easily understand the film.
He said: “It’s fun to watch a comic-book movie if you’ve grown up with the comic books and you know all those characters because there are all these Easter eggs.
“But I also find that can be very excluding to audiences. For this (film), you don’t have to know about the book. Come in, enjoy the story, enjoy these characters, then if you want to go and read the books after that, that’s great.
“They both need to stand on their own. And hopefully we’ll continue to do that in a sequel.”

Michael B. Jordan wanted to showcase Mexican boxing in Creed III

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan wanted to highlight Mexican boxing in ‘Creed III’.
The 35-year-old actor makes his directorial debut in the latest ‘Rocky’ spin-off film and explained that he cast boxing great Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in his first acting role to showcase the influence that Mexico has had on the sport.
At a press conference to promote the movie, Michael – who plays the lead role of Adonis ‘Donnie’ Creed – said: “We just looked back, you know, it’s the history of boxing, and the Mexican culture is such a pillar within the sport of boxing and it felt like there wasn’t a really a lot of representation throughout the films in that type of way.
“And it just didn’t seem like the reality I lived in. So I wanted to incorporate Mexican culture into this film.”
The ‘Just Mercy’ star added: “I just felt that there was a lack there, that didn’t seem truthful and honest to the sport of boxing. And I wanted kind of put that character there.”
Michael previously revealed that the sports movie was the “perfect” film to make his bow behind the camera on as it comes during the right moment of his career.
He said: “For me, it was the perfect time. Growing up on set, in the industry, over 20 years, and start out doing background work and extra work and just seeing the sets evolve and seeing everybody’s job and seeing how a real production took place, I finally got to this place in my career where I wanted to tell a story and not just be in front of the camera to execute somebody else’s vision.
“I’m telling a story of where I believe Adonis is at, and also at 35 years old, I had a lot to say, as a young man and as a young black man, with my life experiences.”

Scarlett Moffatt says her ‘Disney Princess nose’ is natural

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Moffatt says trolls who mock her for having a nose job are wrong because she was born with a “Disney Princess nose”.
The 32-year-old star reality star received a lot of online abuse after she left ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ as Queen of the Jungle in 2016 with many people accusing her of undergoing a rhinoplasty operation.
But Scarlett insists she has never had anything done to her nose, and she was fortunate to be born with “dinky little” nostrils.
Speaking on her podcast, Scarlett Moffatt Wants To Believe, she said: “We laugh about it now. But when I first came out of ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ basically, I’d lost weight. Obviously your face looks different but I’ve always had a dinky little nose. In fact, it was always one of my best features. Even as a kid my dad would say, ‘Ooh you’ve got a Disney Princess nose,’ and I would go around pretending to be Snow White.
“But then people were like, ‘Ooh rhinoplasty surgeon says Scarlett’s gone too far.’
“I’m like, if I have had my nose done, who cares, it’s my nose. But they were dissing it and this is the nose I was born with. I came out of my mam’s vagina with this nose and they were dissing it.”
Scarlett admits if she could create her dream world she would put an end to cyberbullying, because trolls cause so much emotional pain.
The former ‘Gogglebox’ star said: “There’d be no trolling. There would be no poverty, and everyone would get on. There’d no prison because everyone would be nice.
“You wouldn’t have to have a poo. You could just click your fingers and your bowels would be emptied. Because I don’t enjoy it, it’s weird.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! set to air on November 6

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ is set to return to TV in less than two weeks.
The reality TV show is set to air from Sunday, November 6, which is earlier than usual due to ITV’s coverage of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which begins on November 21.
An official start date has not yet been announced by ITV yet, but a source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column the early transmission date.
An ITV spokesman said: “We’ll announce the start date for the new series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in due course.”
Fans of the show can look forward to Ant and Dec broadcasting live from the Australia jungle for the first time since 2019, following the location of the programme being moved to Gwrych Castle in Wales due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2022 series has a rumoured star-studded line-up with former England rugby player Mike Tindall – who is married to Princess Anne’s daughter Zara – former ‘Love Island’ contestant Olivia Atwood and pop icon Boy George among the names.

Casualty stars confirm November return date

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Casualty’ is set to return in November.
Stars Elinor Lawless and William Beck both confirmed the return date of the long-running medical drama after fans were left frustrated following another transmission break since it last aired Saturday, October 8.
Speaking to Digital Spy, William confirmed ‘Casualty’ would be back on BBC One in November.
Lawless added: “Obviously we’re subject to schedule changes, there’s a level of flexibility. But yes, we’re back in November.”
Lawless, who plays Stevie Nash in the medical soap, teased what was in store for her character who’s currently in loggerheads with Beck’s character Dylan.
She said: “For Stevie, the sparring with Dylan definitely continues and she gets in hot water with the acquaintance of a patient that potentially leaves her in danger. That was was quite exciting to film.”
Asked whether her character Stevie was a hero or villain, Elinor added: “It’s definitely more complicated than that. Nobody ever sees themselves as the bad guy in their own story, right?
“She’s heart on her sleeve, she’s hot-headed, she’s mouthy. It’s interesting going ahead to watch how she is integrated more into the life of the hospital.
“At the beginning there was definitely a Machiavellian, peripheral quality to her. But you’ve got to love the character you’re playing. You’ve got to be on their side and I’m on her side.”
Reflecting on his own character Dylan Keogh, William said: “There’s a power struggle ahead for Dylan. We literally don’t know which way it’s going to go.
“Ultimately an important decision has to be made between Dylan and somebody else, with regards to his position at the hospital. He gets pretty torrid.”

Helen Flanagan has split from Scott Sinclair, say sources

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Flanagan has split from her partner Scott Sinclair.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress has reportedly called it quits with her footballer fiancé after 13 years together after she was spotted without her engagement ring – the one she was given when they announced their plans to marry in 2018 – as she arrived back in the UK after filming ‘I’m A Celebrity All Stars’ in South Africa alongside Myleene Klass, Gillian McKeith, Amir Khan and Dean Gaffney.
A source told The Sun Online that the 32-year actress “has removed her engagement ring and told those close to her that she is no longer with Scott.
The insider added: “They hit a rough patch in the summer and after Helen came back from South Africa it ended for good.”
Helen – who played Rosie Webster on ITV soap – was expected to tie the knot with the 33-year-old Bristol Rovers winger in 2024 after finding “the perfect venue”.
Earlier this year, she said: “I have been really picky which is why it’s taken me so long but I have managed to find the perfect venue.
“Unfortunately they can only fit us in in 2024 but we have been together so long, I’ve been with Scott since I was 19, it already feels like we’re married – which is why I’ve been so laid back.
Helen, 32, and Scott have three children, daughters Matilda, seven, and Delilah, four, and 18-month old son Charlie.
Another source detailed how the pair “have endured testing few months” recently with work-related stress and are working on protecting the children.
The source told the MailOnline: “Helen and Scott have endured a testing few months.
“Uncertainty over Scott’s footballing career and the fact they haven’t been able to spend much quality time together has put a strain on their relationship.
‘The children are their world and main priority, and they will always ensure nothing affects them.
“Helen has been putting herself out there, it’s very much business as usual in her career and she won’t allow issues in her personal life to bring her down.”

Hiram suggested that Henry will continue to star alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in future ‘Black Adam’ movies.
The producer explained: “It’s never been about a one-off or just about a fight.
“We really want to craft a long-form of storytelling and show that these two characters exist in the same universe and are going to have to deal with each other often, either on the same or opposite sides. Hopefully they’re going to clash at some point, but it’s not just about a ‘one fight’ situation.”
