The Spice Girls singer will don her signature leopard print as she gets cosy on her couch to review the week’s most talked about TV with her pal Ruby Wax, 69, for the latest star-studded Stand Up To Cancer edition of the show on Friday (28.10.22), in tribute to her “big, strong and beautiful dad” Martin Brown, who died of the disease in 2017.
The 47-year-old pop star – whose real name is Melanie Brown – is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “Cancer touches so many peoples’ lives. My big, strong, beautiful dad was just 63 when he died after a long battle with multiple myeloma cancer.
“I miss him every single day. He loved to watch telly and he loved to laugh, so I’m doing this for him and for everyone else out there who has lost someone to cancer.”
Ruby has also been touched by cancer as her “best friend and mentor”, ‘Harry Potter’ star Alan Rickman, died in 2016 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
She said: “I think of him every day.”

Coronation Street’s Max Turner to be groomed by gang of extremists

OHMYGOSSIP — Coronation Street’s Max Turner is to be groomed by a gang of extremists.
The ITV soap are to highlight the issue of the grooming of disenfranchised and impressionable young men in a hard-hitting storyline, in which Paddy Bever’s lonely and vulnerable character will be targeted.
‘Corrie’ Producer Iain MacLeod said: “Overall, Max’s story is one about the grooming of a vulnerable teenager at a point where he’s feeling most alienated and disenfranchised. The story will encompass the ‘traditional’ recruitment techniques of extremists groups, and we’ll see Max befriended in person by older, mentor-like figures that will give him a sense of loyalty and brotherhood.
“Then, later in the story, we will explore a very 21st Century problem: teenagers self-radicalising through watching extreme content online. In the end, we wanted this to be a story about communication within families – what are the right and wrong ways to talk to younger family members who are gravitating towards extreme views? For the conclusion of the story, David’s misjudged attempts to deal with Max will drive the narrative to a shocking and thought-provoking climax.”
In Friday’s (28.10.22) episode, Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) will confront eco activist Griff – played by Michael Condron – and his pals when he finds out the band they have invited him to see are playing racist songs.
Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor) later tackles Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock) about the company he is keeping, but she is unaware he is an undercover police officer who has infiltrated the gang to expose their activity.
In the coming episodes, Griff will earn Max’s trust and invites him to a Halloween party at his house.
What’s more, the teenager will become more estranged from his family in the coming months, as he falls under Griff’s spell and the gang will use his video and computer skills to spread their racist propaganda.
Counter Terrorism Policing’s Senior National Coordinator Tim Jacques said: “‘Coronation Street’ has a long history of raising awareness of challenging issues that sit at the heart of communities across the UK. Sadly, the terrorist threat remains one of those very real concerns.
“Our casework shows that children and young people are vulnerable to radicalisation and are increasingly being drawn into toxic ideologies through online spaces and platforms.
“We hope Max’s story will help to highlight why it’s so important to get support or advice if you’re worried someone you love is taking a dangerous path. It really doesn’t have to be that way.”

Dec Donnelly: I’m A Celebrity travel bit more stressful with kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Dec Donnelly has admitted travelling to Australia for ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ is a “bit more stressful” than it used to be before he had kids.
The 47-year-old TV presenter landed Down Under on Thursday (27.10.22) with his wife Ali Astall, their daughter Isla, four, and their three-month-old son Jack, and admitted he is looking forward to enjoying some “family time” when he has breaks from shooting the show in Australia.
He said: “We have got the family here, baby Jack. And Isla is here, we have got the whole gang.
“It is a bit more stressful coming now, you watch less movies. But it is fine and great to be able to bring them out. We can have a bit of family time as well as getting the series going as well.”
Dec also admitted he and his ‘I’m A Celebrity’ co-host Ant McPartlin are “really excited” about this year’s line-up.
He added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I can neither confirm or deny any of the people of course.
“I found out the line-up a couple of months ago when we were shooting the South Africa show. We have just posted a reaction video on social media. We are really excited, it is really excited to be back and I can’t wait to get going.”
‘Loose Women’ anchor Charlene White is part of the line-up and was on the same flight as Dec.

Roman Kemp: I’m A Celebrity saved my life

OHMYGOSSIP — Roman Kemp says ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ “saved” his life.
The ‘Capital Breakfast Show’ radio DJ appeared on the ITV reality show in 2019, and he found an “amazing” therapist who “helped save” him, thanks to the programme.
The 29-year-old broadcaster told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “This image people have of laying down on a long black leather chair, it’s not that.
“Just before I went into ‘I’m A Celeb’ there was one who was amazing. She was part of the reason that saved my life and it was ITV and ‘I’m A Celeb’ who gave me her. I struggled hugely when I came out of there.”
Roman has admitted writing his new book ‘Are You Really OK?’ – part self-help, part memoir – was “like therapy”.
The star said: “Doing this book has been like therapy. I found myself crying as I retold parts of my life – not parts that were even sad but memories and talking about them.
“I’ve been on antidepressants since I was 15 and I take them every day. I am very much up and down. I’ve done all sorts of things in terms of therapy.
“If there are times when I have anxiety or panic attacks, I will go to different types of therapists. The psychotherapist was amazing.
“I kept myself in a car for 20 minutes the other day as I thought I was going to have a panic attack.
“When I’m on stage or on air for four hours it’s incredible – I’m transported to being a kid, but a red carpet is so weird.
“It’s like some weird film but I don’t want to be owned by that. I want my own life.”
Roman – who is the son of 80s pop legends Martin and Shirlie Kemp, who were in Spandau Ballet and Shirlie and Pepsi respectively – detailed a spat between his mum and his godfather George Michael, who wanted to stop her moving their family to Los Angeles because it would “ruin” him and his sister, Harley, now 33.
He said: “My relationship with fame is skewed by growing up as George Michael’s godson.
“I always remember this huge argument between him and my mum – the biggest they had actually.
“Mum said, ‘We are moving to LA,’ and he said, ‘No, that will ruin your kids’.
“He didn’t care about them, he cared about me and my sister, Harley. He was like, ‘Fame and that world is not what they should aspire to.’ ”

Gemma Collins has been forced to ‘cut back’ on heating due to cost of living crisis

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins has made “cut backs” on heating.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star has been forced by the cost of living crisis to be “mindful” about her spending, after she moved into a £1.3 million mansion in her home county of Essex.
The 41-year-old reality TV star said: “The cost of living crisis, yes I have the news on, I try not to but I said I’m going to spend October and November trying to make sensible cutbacks because if you look after the pennies they look after you.
“I have done something with every meal time, I go into my cupboards and make some serious cutbacks like everyone else.
“It is scary, mortgages are going up, electrics going up.
“I’m telling everyone not to put the heating on in my house. I’m making sure every lights are off, I normally have every TV switched on in the room – not necessarily watching something, but I’d have TV on in one room, music on in the other, but I’ve really been mindful to cut back on all of that.”
Gemma revealed she is becoming an “eco warrior”, and has been telling off her fiance Rami Hawash, 48, for leaving the lights on.
While speaking on her ‘GC Podcast’, she said: “My dad [Alan] came round and told me to cut it off at the plug – I’ve been really mindful to cut back on electricity.
“I told Rami if he leaves the light on, it’s just not good.
“I said ‘Ram, we need to be serious, we’ve got to be saving energy.’
“I’m becoming so far removed from the GC, I’m becoming mindful about electricity, I’m like an eco-warrior – I’m even growing vegetables.”

Cliff Richard makes BBC Christmas show

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Cliff Richard has made a Christmas show with the BBC.
‘Cliff at Christmas’ will air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer and feature the 82-year-old music legend performing some of his Christmas classics, new songs and best loved hits.
He said: “I remember, as though it was yesterday, the three series (each containing 13 shows) that I did for the BBC in the 70’s. I loved every moment of them!
“Now I’m really looking forward to the Christmas show that they have asked me to present, with the aid of some friends, this December 2022.
“My Christmas wish? That you will enjoy our show. Christmas greetings to you all.”
The show, which will be broadcast this festive season, will see Cliff chat to Sara Cox at Abbey Road Studios about his incredible 64-year career, which has seen more than 130 of his singles, albums and EPs reach the UK top 20, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
Kate Phillips, BBC’s Director Unscripted Content, said: “We are enormously excited to welcome Sir Cliff Richard to the BBC this Christmas, with his inimitable voice and charm there’s no one better to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.”

No charges were ever filed against Cliff following allegations of historical sexual abuse, and he later sued the BBC over their coverage of the raid.
The corporation ended up forking out around £2 million towards his legal costs, after he won a 2018 High Court case.

Hilary Swank to star in Nar

OHMYGOSSIP — Hilary Swank is to star in ‘Nar.’
The 48-year-old actress has reportedly signed on to play the role of a wounded pilot in the upcoming action thriller and shooting is set to commence in late 2023, according to Deadline.
The outlet also claimed that the Oscar-winning star is set to take on the role of an executive producer for the film alongside David Thwaites and John Logan Pierson and the script will be penned by Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar – who will also serve as director – with ‘Deepwater Horizon’ director Peter Berg also serving on the producing team.
In the movie, Hilary’s character will be seen isolated in Latin America, relying on the help of a stranger claiming to be from a secret network to help bring her to safety, with the film’s title coming from the real-life Non-conventional Assisted Recovery (N.A.R), which is part of the US Defense Department,
The ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ actress also served as an executive producer for the ABC TV series ‘Alaska Daily’ – in which she also stars as former investigative journalist Eileen Fitzgerald – and recently explained that by taking on the responsibilities of a producer she was really able to be “creative” in the project even though it was “very different” to acting and found it to be very fast-paced.
She said: “As an executive producer, you’re able to really collaborate and be a creative, in that process. And in this process, it’s very, very different. It’s very fast-moving. There are a lot more cooks in the kitchen. Creatively, I only saw the pilot. I didn’t get to see anything else. You’re really at the mercy of what’s put in front of you. It brings a little trepidation, but you just hope that everyone keeps to what they promised, and you’re all on your way.

James Gray wanted to rediscover what he ‘loves about movies’ by directing Armageddon Time

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gray wanted to rediscover what he “loves about movies” by directing ‘Armageddon Time.’
The 53-year-old filmmaker was at the helm of the upcoming coming-of-age period drama – which stars Anne Hathaway as a mother who sends her son Paul to private school when he is caught smoking cannabis – and explained that because he had worked on some “ambitious films” such as ‘Ad Astra ‘ and ‘The Lost City of Z’ he wanted but wanted to “forget” some of the complicated narrative goals with his new project.
He said: “I had made a couple of ambitious films in a row, one of which covered two continents in the UK and in Amazonia and one that took place in space primarily. I just wanted to try and return to what it is that I loved about the cinema, and try to forget some of the difficult machinery that led to a certain narrative ambition and ambition about the environment. I wanted to get a personal and emotional ambition to rediscover what it is I love about movies, and why I make them in the first place. That’s the truth of it.”
The ‘Little Odessa’ director went on to add that he did not want ‘Les Miserables’ star Anne, 39, and ‘Succession’ actor Jeremy Strong – who starred as Paul’s father in the movie – to do an “imitation” of his own parents even though he had shown them his own family albums for inspiration.
He told ScreenRant: “I showed them endless family albums. I told them stories over and over again. I don’t know where they get that, but let’s say they’re right. What is true is that I didn’t want those guys to do an imitation of my parents. That’s not interesting to me. There’s a difference between being authentic and being realistic. Real is not all that interesting sometimes, but authentic means you’re truthful to the emotion. I had wanted something that enabled them to inhabit a character, not to do an imitation. I gave them this information, but I said, ‘I want to see part of you in it. Not just part of them, part of you. Bring your soul and your spirit to it.’ Because that’s what makes it beautiful, and that’s what makes it transcend.”
‘Armageddon Time’ is set for release in the UK on 18 November 2022.

Cate Blanchett: TAR is unlike any film I’ve ever done

OHMYGOSSIP — Cate Blanchett had “never read anything like” the script for ‘TAR.’
The 53-year-old actress stars in the leading role in the upcoming drama movie – which tells the story of struggling German orchestra conductress Lydia Tar – and explained that the new movie comes “top” of her list of experiences in acting after working with director Todd Field because it is “unlike” anything she has ever seen before.
She said: ” I’ve had three experiences, no, four experiences, I think, ‘TÁR’ being top of the list. And then I played Blanche DuBois in ‘A Streetcar Named Desire” onstage, directed by Liv Ullmann, which was life-changing. Most of them have been on stage actually, and working with the other Todd Field on playing Bob Dylan. These asks that directors make of you, that you can’t even imagine what the experience is going to be. Not just because we’re here talking about it, but I would have to say ‘TÁR’, because my experience before I was even involved in the project of reading the script is I’d never read anything like it. And I think the film that Todd has made is unlike any other film that I’ve ever seen.”
The Academy Award-winning actress went on to add that she was not aware that ‘In the Bedroom’ director Todd, 58, had also written the script for the movie with her in mind when she signed on to star and described her naivety in the situation as “fortunate.”
She told Collider: “Fortunately, I didn’t know that [he had written it for me] when we were working together. There was so much to do and the conversation was so rich, that it was literally like the gate opened, and we just went for it.”
‘Tar’ is set to be released in UK cinemas in January 2023.

Ariana Grande dyes hair blonde ahead of shooting Wicked

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande has dyed her hair blonde ahead of shooting ‘Wicked.’
The 29-year-old pop star has taken on the role of Glinda the Good Witch in the upcoming adaptation of the smash hit Broadway musical – which tells the backstory of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and explains how the witches of Oz came to be both good and wicked – and has changed her signature dark locks to blonde in an apparent effort to match her character.
Alongside a snap of her new look, she wrote on Instagram: “new earrings.”
Production on the two-part movie – which will also feature ‘Bridgerton’ star Jonathan Bailey as love interest Fiyero – is reportedly set to begin principal photography in London this November, with US-born superstar Ariana said to have rented a “stunning” eight-figure mansion in the capital city to live in while she works on the project.
The ‘Into You’ hitmaker will star alongside ‘Aretha’ actress Cynthia Erivo – who will take on the role of misunderstood green girl Elphaba – in the upcoming musical and director Jon M. Chu decided to make the movie into two parts because it would be “impossible” to put the complex story into a single film.
He said: “Thank you for all the support these past several months in anticipation of the ‘WICKED’ movie. Here’s what happened: as we prepared this production over the last year, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of ‘WICKED’ into a single film without doing some real damage to it. With more space, we can tell the story of WICKED as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters.”
‘Wicked: Part One’ is set to be released on 25 December 2024.

James Jordan thanks ‘thousands’ of fans for offers after being left homeless

OHMYGOSSIP — James Jordan has thanked “thousands” of fans for their support after he and his family were left homeless.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro and his wife Ola, 40 – who also performed on the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition – and their two-year-old daughter Ella were facing having nowhere to live, because their new home isn’t ready, but they have “finally found somewhere” after their temporary accommodation fell through.
Speaking in an Instagram video, the 44-year-old dancer said: “Hi guys, I hope you’re well. I haven’t been on here for a little while. As many of you are aware, we are currently trying to move home.
“We didn’t have anywhere to go because the rental property we were gonna move into didn’t work out for several reasons. We have now finally found somewhere else.
“But I wanted to come on here just to say thank you so much. I must have had thousands upon thousands of messages from amazing people out there offering their help, offering for us to come and live with them from Ireland, Scotland everywhere, which is really, really nice.
“And I just wanted to come on here to say thank you very much.”
The former ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestant laughed about how some people were “happy” to take in his wife but not him and his daughter.
He said: “And there were even the odd guys saying that they were happy to take Ola but unfortunately didn’t have space for myself and Ella.”
The two dancers’ little one could be seen in the background eating her breakfast before Ola appeared holding a trophy from their time on the BBC One show, and she joked about chucking it out.
James quipped: “No, that’s my trophy. You chucked your ‘Strictly’ trophy.”

Fleur East: Doing Strictly Come Dancing is the best early Christmas present

OHMYGOSSIP — Fleur East says doing ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is “the best early Christmas present” she could’ve wished for.
The ‘Sax’ hitmaker – who is partnered with pro dancer Vito Coppola – wanted to take part in the star-studded BBC One Latin and ballroom competition for her late father Malcolm East, who died in 2020, because he “absolutely loved” it.
The 34-year-old singer told Good Housekeeping magazine’s December issue: “Getting the call to do ‘Strictly’ was the best early Christmas present I could have wished for – especially because my dad, who passed away two years ago, absolutely loved the show. I knew I had to do it for him.”
Fleur recalled her “favourite Christmas” when she took her dad, mum Irene and sister Keisha to Paris to spend the festive period with her fashion designer hubby Marcel Badiane-Robin’s family.
She said: “My favourite Christmas was in 2017, when I took my mum, dad and sister, Keshia, to Paris to spend it with my husband Marcel’s family, who are French. We went to Disneyland and saw the Eiffel Tower all lit up on Christmas Eve – and ate loads of foie gras and cheese on Christmas Day!”
Fleur’s fellow ‘Strictly’ contestant and “die-hard fan” of the dancing competition Ellie Simmonds also shared her festive memories connected to the show.
The 27-year-old Paralympic swimmer said: “The start of ‘Strictly’ on TV has always signalled the countdown to Christmas for me. I’m a die-hard fan and have watched it every single year, but never in a million years did I imagine I’d end up taking part.
“This year, we’ll be celebrating the loved ones we’ve lost. There’s normally around 12 of us at the dinner table, but as well as my grandma, my Auntie Shirley passed away recently and we’ve felt those losses hugely. If the last couple of years have taught me anything, it’s to appreciate every moment with special people.”

Elizabeth Banks: I could perform an abortion after my latest role

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Banks could “perform an abortion” after starring in ‘Call Jane.’
The 49-year-old actress stars as a suburban housewife in the 1960s who finds herself pregnant but reaches out to a group of underground abortionists known as the Janes and joked that she “might” be able to perform a termination procedure herself after learning about the process on set.
She said: “I think I might be able to, actually. I’d like to have a little more practice because I didn’t actually ever get to dilate anybody—I got to learn about the tools, watch the videos. But the procedure that we performed from 1968, there are similarities to it now but it is not the exact same. And most abortions now are self-managed via two pills.
The ‘Hunger Games’ star – who has been married to Max Handelman since 2003 and has sons Felix, 11, and nine-year-old Magnus with him – went on to add that she used ” a lot of sense memory” while shooting the role and recalled a time where she had a “painful” procedure for her ovarian cysts carried out by a male technician which left her “bawling her eyes out.”
She told Vanity Fair: “There was a lot of sense memory in the acting for me. It’s very intimate, what women are put through. I had a procedure once [for] ovarian cysts. It was a specialized procedure that had to be done by somebody I’ve never met before, a male technician. He starts his procedure, no bedside manner, and it was so painful. I said, ‘Can you please stop?’
“It was actually making me nauseous, and I was worried I was gonna throw up. He treated me like, ‘Can’t you just get it together?’
” So I forced myself through this pain, through this procedure with this asshole technician in this room with no understanding of what [I’m feeling]. And then I went to my car and I bawled my f****** eyes out. And honestly, that’s what I was thinking of while I was having the procedure in the movie. A pretty easy sense memory to bring up because it was raw and fresh, even though it was 10 or 11 years ago now.”
‘Call Jane’ is set to be released in cinemas in the UK on 4 November.

The Exorcist voted scariest movie of all time

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Exorcist’ has been voted the scariest movie of all time.
The 1973 horror film – which was directed by William Friedkin and stars Linda Blair as demonically possessed12-year-old Regan MacNeil – has come top in a British poll to name the “scariest” horror film ever, beating off competition from the likes of Jodie Foster thriller ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ and 1980 classic ‘The Shining’ by taking 12% of the vote.
Mark Barlow from Showcase Cinemas, which commissioned the study, said: “Horror movies continue to be extremely popular with our guests throughout the whole year, not just at Halloween, delivering so many iconic characters and moments. Our survey also revealed that scary movies are the UK’s favourite thing about Halloween, which is why we are screening some classic Halloween films in the lead-up to the day itself, so our guests can enjoy spooky scenes on the big screen.”
Voters also decided that the moment in which Regan spins her head 360 degrees while possessed was the “scariest moment” of all time in cinema.
The rest of the top 10 was made up of classics such as Alfred Hitchcock’s horror ‘Psycho’ – which was based on the Robert Bloch novel and starred Anthony Perkins as notorious motel proprietor Norman Bates – and Tobe Hooper’s 1974 movie ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, which was banned in several countries at the time of its release due to its depiction of murderous violence.
The full top 10 is as follows:
1. ‘The Exorcist’
2. ‘The Conjuring’
3. ‘Psycho’
4. ‘Silence Of The Lambs’
5. ‘The Shining’
6. ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’

Matt Goss: I was visited by my mum’s ghost after Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Goss says he was “visited by his mum’s ghost” after he finished ‘Strictly Come Dancing.’
The former Bros star, 54, lost his mum Carol Philips to cancer in 2014 but revealed that after he was eliminated from the BBC Latin and ballroom competition earlier this month she appeared before him “about five times” that night.
He said: “The night after I left ‘Strictly’ I didn’t want to watch the show and I just wanted to be in my own bubble. I was getting streams of messages from people and that night I just lay in the dark listening to music. A bag fell off a shelf. And then I said, ‘Mum is that you? If it’s you, can the music stop? And then the music stopped. Then it came back on and did it again. It happened about five times.”
The ‘When Will I be Famous?’ singer – who was partnered with Nadiya Bychkova on the show but was axed following a dance-off with former ‘Coronation Street’ star Kym Marsh and Graziano di Prima in week four- added that he “knew” it was the ghost of his late mother but admitted that taking part in ‘Strictly’ was much more “difficult” than he ever thought it would be.
He told The Sun newspaper: ““I knew it was my mum. It was unbelievable and this incredible, warm feeling came over me. It was a beautiful thing and I knew it was a sign everything would be OK.’Strictly’ was much more difficult than I thought it would be. It was pretty uncomfortable.”
Since his axing from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, comedienne Jayde Adams and her partner Karen Hauer have since faced the chop after failing to impress viewers with their performance of the Charleston to ‘The Ballad of Barry and Freda (Let’s Do It)’, by late BBC comedy legend Victoria Wood during the 100 Years of the BBC special.
Following her exit, Jayde said: “This has been the best thing I have ever done in my life
and I will carry it to my grave, and it has been an absolute pleasure working with you (Karen) and learning about so much that will go into my own stuff, in my own work. ”
