Samantha Womack ‘blessed’ to be performing after breast cancer diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘EastEnders’ star Samantha Womack is “blessed” to be performing again after her breast cancer diagnosis.
The 50-year-old actress revealed in August she was battling the disease and has since endured a “rough couple of months”, but she is playing the White Witch in a London theatre production of the ‘The Lion, The White and The Wardrobe’.
For her milestone 50th birthday, and after finishing her chemo, Samantha told The Sun newspaper: “I’m back at work at the Gillian Lynne Theatre.
“It’s been a rough couple of months but I am blessed to be back.”
Samantha – who played Ronnie Mitchell on the BBC One soap between 2007 and 2017 – was wished a happy birthday by her ex co-star Rita Simons, who played her sister Roxy Mitchell in the soap.
Underneath a photo of the pair of them, the 45-year-old actress wrote on Instagram on Wednesday (02.11.22): “Happy birthday to the other half of me. @samzjanus love you and so proud of you #PrincessWarrior (sic)”
Glynis Barber – who played Ronnie and Roxy’s mother Glenda Mitchell – added her many happy returns, writing “my babies are all grown up. Happy birthday” in the comment section.
Ex ‘Geordie Shore’ star Vicky Pattison offered her well wishes, commenting: “Aww this [heart emoji] Happy birthday Sam.”
Sam shared the news of her cancer diagnosis following the passing of the ‘Grease’ icon Olivia Newton-John – who died 30 years after being diagnosed with breast cancer age 73 – this summer.
In her tribute to the actress, Sam captioned a snap of the pair of them: “This was the most magical of evenings.
“Olivia and Chloe had come to see Grease in London and we had dinner together afterwards. I was so excited and in awe, she was my childhood.”
“I now start my own battle with this disease and am left feeling deeply moved. #OliviaNewtonJohn.”

Lupita Nyong’o feared for Black Panther after Chadwick Boseman’s death

OHMYGOSSIP — Lupita Nyong’o feared for the ‘Black Panther’ franchise after the death of Chadwick Boseman.
The 39-year-old star returns as the spy Nakia for the sequel ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and confessed that she didn’t know how the series could continue when Boseman – who played the title role in the original film – died in 2020 after a private battle with cancer.
Speaking at the European premiere of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster in London on Thursday (03.11.22), Lupita said: “When Chadwick Boseman died, it felt like the end. I couldn’t imagine moving forward and I know Ryan (Coogler, director) felt the same way and a lot of us felt that way.”
The ’12 Years a Slave’ star hailed the filmmaker for figuring out a way to move forward with the sequel that puts the other cast members at the centre.
She said: “He figured out a way to embrace the truth of what was going on in our lives and ask the questions about how you move forward and he made that the subject of this film.
“By doing so, he’s given a chance to grieve, he’s given us a chance to pay tribute and he’s given us a chance to move forward and that’s the one thing you have to do when someone dies in your life that means something to you. You have to re-evaluate why it’s important to live.”
Lupita revealed that she has been blown away by the response to the original ‘Black Panther’ film – which was the first Marvel movie with a black director and predominantly black cast.
She explained: “When we were making the first Black Panther, I knew it was special because I’d never read anything like that. From the first time Ryan talked to me about it I was like, ‘I don’t understand how Marvel has said yes to this movie. It just seemed so radical.’
“I knew it was special but there was no way I could predict this. The visceral ownership that people feel towards it, the pride that swells in people of African descent and the celebration of their culture.”

Patsy Kensit joins Eastenders

OHMYGOSSIP — Patsy Kensit has joined the cast of ‘EastEnders.’
The 54-year-old star will appear in the BBC soap opera in scenes set to be aired around Christmastime and will play the part of Emma, who is the long-lost mother of established character Lola Pearce.
A BBC source told The Sun newspaper: “Bosses are thrilled they have managed to get Patsy for this role. She’s a great actress and is about to play a part in one of their biggest current storylines.”
In the show, Emma abandoned her daughter and husband when Lola was aged just three and had not been seen in Albert Square before.
Lola – who is played by actress Danielle Harold, 30, and first appeared on the soap in 2011 – is set to leave the show in 2023 when her character will ultimately succumb to a battle with brain cancer, with a separate telly source adding that there is a huge amount of buzz surrounding the “explosive storyline” on set.
The source said: “There is a lot of excitement and buzz on set surrounding what will be an explosive storyline”
Patsy previously starred in ITV rival soap ‘Emmerdale’ as well as BBC medical drama ‘Holby City’ but in 2019 explained that she would “love” to have a part in ‘EastEnders’ because the London-based soap reminds her of her upbringing.
She said: “I’d love to do EastEnders, my father was involved in organised crime in the East End, so I grew up around villains and that kind of backdrop. I can pull a pint and say, ‘You’re barred!’”

Matt Hancock wants to work with Bear Grylls

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Hancock wanted to work with Bear Grylls.
The former Conservative MP – who is due to appear on the upcoming series of ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here’ – was reportedly interested in working with the survival expert on TV because he wanted to “reinvent himself” as an action hero.
A source told The Mirror: “We took the call in February and his aide made no secret of the fact that he was keen to work with Bear Grylls. He said Hancock would be a great asset because he is ‘such a fun guy’.”
The insider went on to claim that the former Health Secretary, 44, – who was suspended from the Conservative Party on Tuesday (01.11.22) after it was revealed he was entering the Australia jungle-based ITV show – had made “similar enquiries” about teaming up with ‘The Island’ star even before COVID-19 hit.
The source added: “This isn’t the first time he’d asked about working with Bear. Similar enquiries were made before the pandemic. He clearly fancies himself as some sort of superstar boy scout.”
Shortly after it was announced that Matt will be heading Down Under to take part in ‘I’m a Celebrity, he explained that he will be using his TV stint to “raise awareness” of the neurological condition dyslexia, which he was diagnosed with at the age of 18.
He said: “I want to raise the profile of my dyslexia campaign to help every dyslexic child unleash their potential — even if it means taking an unusual route to get there . . . via the Australian jungle! I’m A Celebrity . . .  is watched by millions of Brits up and down the country. I want to use this incredible platform to raise awareness, so no child leaves primary school not knowing if they have dyslexia.”
‘I’m a Celeb’ returns on Sunday (06.11.22), when pop icon Boy George, ‘Coronation Street’ star Sue Cleaver, ‘Hollyoaks’ actor Owen Warner, former England rugby player Mike Tindall, radio presenter Chris Moyles, England Lioness Jill Scott, comedian Babatunde Aleshe, former ‘Love Island’ star Olivia Attwood, and TV presenters Charlene White and Scarlette Douglas will enter the camp Down Under.

Weird Al reveals why he chose Daniel Radcliffe to play him on screen

OHMYGOSSIP — Weird Al wanted Daniel Radcliffe to play him on screen because of his versatility.
The 63-year-old musician’s life has been turned into a new biopic and he revealed that he ended up choosing ‘Harry Potter’ star Daniel, 33, to play him on-screen because of his ability to do drama and comedy after deciding from a list of a dozen actors.
He said: “Eric and I were sitting around, and we were trying to figure out who would be a good person to play me in the movie. And we generated a list of maybe half a dozen or so actors that we thought could pull it off. And the name that we kept focusing on was Daniel’s, because we just thought that he had the right attitude and the right energy for the movie. Daniel is amazing at comedic acting as well as dramatic acting.
The ‘Dare to be Stupid’ hitmaker – who has made a career out of writing and producing music that makes fun of popular culture – went on to explain that the sort of versatility Daniel could offer was “definitely needed” for the project and is “thrilled” that he could commit to the part in the first place.
He told Variety: “We definitely needed somebody who could do both. Because even though it’s a comedy, we don’t play it like a comedy. We play it like a very, very serious Oscar-worthy Hollywood biopic. And Daniel had to be able to pull off those dramatic moments, which he does. We’re both thrilled that Daniel was open to doing the role. And as we predicted, he absolutely nailed it.”
‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’ is available to stream now on The Roku Channel.

Amy Adams was the ‘catalyst’ for the Enchanted sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Adams was the “catalyst” for the ‘Enchanted’ sequel.
The 48-year-old actress reprises her starring role as Giselle Philip in the follow-up to the 2007 Disney film, which is being released exclusively on Disney+ on November 18, and producer Barry Josephson says Amy was the reason the film got off the ground.
He told SFX’s Red Alert: “No-one knew that first movie better than her.
“She was very, very encyclopedic and astute and creative about fairytales.
“She came up with some brilliant concepts along the way that led us to a screenplay that when the studio read it, they were very engaged with.”
The flame-haired star previously teased fans can expect a lot more singing and dancing.
She said: “(The film features) a lot more singing and a lot more dancing, which was humbling.
“The last time I really danced as much as I’m required to dance in this, I was in my 20s and now I’m not in my 20s.
“It feels different in your 40s. In my heart, I look like I’m in my 20s when I’m dancing, and then I would watch playback and be like, ‘Whoa, that’s not the same.'”
Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Idina Menzel are all back, with the addition of Maya Rudolph as new villain Malvina and Amy has hinted at “a lot of fun” between the pair.
The ‘American Hustle’ star said: “She plays the baddie, so we get to have a lot of fun together.”

Timothee Chalamet has never had a ‘horror story’ with a director

OHMYGOSSIP — Timothee Chalamet says all of the directors he’s worked with have had “very strong visions”.
The ‘Call Me By Your Name’ star insisted he’s never had an instance on a movie set where those in charge have been at loggerheads with their colleagues over their creative vision.
He told SFX magazine: “I hope I don’t sound pretentious rattling off the list of names, but I think Denis Villeneuve [‘Dune’], Greta Gerwig [‘Little Women’], Luca Guadagnino [‘Call Me By Your Name’ and ‘Bones and All’] and Paul King, who I just worked with [on ‘Wonka’] … they have very strong visions.
“It’s not my experience, but you kind of hear the horror stories from other sets where there’s a million opinions in the room.”
The 26-year-old actor plays Lee in ‘Bones and All’, a cannibal in love with Maren, played by Taylor Russell, who he had been “dying” to work with.
He said: “I’d seen her in ‘Waves’, when it came out three, four years ago.
“She was somebody I had been dying to work with and there were other projects we had circled that didn’t come to fruition.
“This one happened to be the one that did.”
Speaking of his complex character, he said recently: “With Lee, the illusion of control is based on feeling for no one and not even interacting with anyone – with Lee’s affliction being cannibalism.”

Strictly choreographer Jason Gilkison has to be more ‘inventive’ with same-sex couples

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Gilkison has to be more “inventive” when creating dances for same-sex couples on ‘Strictly Come Dancing.’
The 56-year-old dancer has served as the director of choreography on the BBC Saturday night favourite – which has included several same-sex couples in recent years – since 2014 and admitted that while it feels “natural and nice to explore” the representation, he often faces “obstacles” when it comes to creating a dance around the costumes.
He said: “It does feel very natural and nice to explore. You come up against obstacles, it’s very easy for a man in a flat shoe to lift a woman in the air, but that’s the biggest thing we deal with, the costumes. Which just means we have to be more inventive when we’re thinking about how we want them to look. It becomes about defining each pro’s personality, rather than putting them in a box.”
The former ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ judge went on to explain that it has been “wonderful” to explore diversity on the show – which this year features former Paralympian swimmer Ellie Simmonds and previously featured the now-eliminated pairings of comedienne Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer. as well as radio host Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice – because dancing is “for everybody.”
He told Metro.co.uk: “It’s been a wonderful experience for us and we feel very lucky to get the opportunity to do this because we’re, again, exploring how dance is for absolutely everybody. 100 years ago, dancing was just a social activity and now it’s become so much more. But it was what people did, go out and have fun on a Saturday night, and it includes everybody. That’s why it’s been really important for us that there are no boundaries when it comes to who should be dancing.”

Gemma Collins left ‘shocked and embarrassed’ after bank accounts frozen

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins was left “shocked and embarrassed” when her bank accounts were frozen.
The 41-year-old reality star – who has a reported net worth of £2.7million – revealed that when she was attempting to buy her house in 2020, her assets were cut off and she “cried on the phone” to the bank as she feared she would lose her Essex mansion.
She said: “This happened to me two years ago. The shock, the embarrassment, I couldn’t sleep, I felt sick, I felt like I was dodgy, like ‘am I a criminal?’ You know what, the guy at the end of the phone, I was so distressed, I was crying on the phone, I was saying, ‘I’m going to lose my house, I’m going to lose my house.’ They are reading from a script, no emotion, telling you, ‘Go into the branch.'”
At the time, Gemma’s dad was suffering from COVID in hospital and she was unable to see him, and even though she was able to resolve the money issue by going into the bank, the ‘Diva Forever’ star went on to explain that she has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder ever since.
Speaking during an Instagram Live, she said: “I couldn’t see my dad in the hospital. I went into the branch and the lady was very nice, I started crying in the bank. They didn’t care. I felt broken, I felt helpless, I felt despair. I just thought I cannot believe this is still going on. I never mentioned it to anyone. I was supposed to go to the financial ombudsman, but my father was dying. I was buying a house, which should have been an amazing experience. I was traumatised, really I’ve suffered PTSD over that experience. I know a few people it has happened to. Some big names on TV – they’re doing it left, right and centre.”

Millie Bobby Brown wants to do Enola Holmes 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Bobby Brown wants to do ‘Enola Holmes 3’.
The 18-year-old actress starred in the title role of the 2020 mystery detective film as well as its 2022 sequel and explained that she would “obviously” like to film a third installment because of how much she loves her character.
She said: “Obviously. I really hope so. I love Enola, and I know that, now, people are very much invested in the character and the plot, and I can only hope that Netflix provides that trust and opportunity once more.”
The ‘Stranger Things’ star also served as producer of both movies and joked that while no-one on set tested her patience, the only “diva” she had to work with was coronavirus as filming took place during the pandemic.
She told Collider: “Thank goodness I am able to work with wonderful people. There is not one person on that set that ever plays up. Luckily we work with real actors and real professionals, so we are never hit with that issue ever. The only big diva is COVID that just comes in and sweeps our sets. That’s the only thing we tackled. Other than that, no actors were harmed in the making of this film.
Meanwhile, Millie is set to star in the upcoming sci-fi movie ‘Electric State’ alongside Chris Pratt and felt the “trust” put into her by directors to sign on to the movie was “unheard of” but described the shooting process as “amazing.”
She added: “The fact that they were so dead-set on me playing her. That trust in a director with an actor, it’s really unheard of, and I don’t really get to experience that very often. So the fact that they wanted me only made me want them even more. And to be able to have that opportunity to make this movie with them has been such an amazing experience, and it’s just been a really good collaborative effort. It feels like I’m actually working with, I mean, a real, real experienced, experienced team. Their team is incredible, the directors are amazing, obviously, and I’ve got an amazing cast to be alongside.”

He then quipped: “The embarrassment of having to go to the five-star hotel.”

Piers Morgan feels sorry for kangaroo bits amid Matt Hancock’s I’m A Celebrity stint

OHMYGOSSIP — Piers Morgan has joked he “feels sorry for the kangaroo testicles” in the Australian jungle ahead of Matt Hancock’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ stint.
The former ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter spoke out after it was confirmed this week that the former Health Secretary – who Piers clashed with a number of times while interviewing him on ‘GMB’ amid the coronavirus pandemic – will appear in this year’s series of the ITV show.
Piers said: “Few politicians in modern history have failed harder and more often than Matt Hancock.
“[He will] spend several weeks in a jungle in Australia, pocketing a massive fee on top of his MP’s salary, eating kangaroo testicles for public delectation.
“I never thought I’d say this, but I actually feel sorry for the kangaroo testicles.”
Piers also admitted he hopes Matt “stays” in the Australian jungle.
Speaking on his TalkTV show ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’, he added: “I may shock you now, Mr Hancock, because I’m actually glad you’re going to a remote, tarantula-infested jungle on the other side of the world.
“On behalf of the entire British public, I think I’m safe in saying, I hope you stay there.”
Matt has come under fire for his decision to take part in the show while he is a serving MP, and he was suspended from the Conservative Party on Tuesday (01.11.22) after his appearance came to light.
But he has defended himself, insisting he is taking part in the programme to “show the human side of politicians” and to raise awareness of dyslexia, after he was diagnosed with the learning difficulty aged 18.
Matt is expected to enter the jungle as a latecomer alongside comedian Seann Walsh.
The series will get underway on Sunday (06.11.22), with an initial 10 celebrities – pop icon Boy George, ‘Coronation Street’ star Sue Cleaver, ‘Hollyoaks’ actor Owen Warner, former England rugby player Mike Tindall, radio presenter Chris Moyles, England Lioness Jill Scott, comedian Babatunde Aleshe, former ‘Love Island’ star Olivia Attwood, and TV presenters Charlene White and Scarlette Douglas.

Carol Vorderman pays guy for lessons in how to do the splits

OHMYGOSSIP — Carol Vorderman pays a guy £10 per lesson to teach her how to do the splits.
The 61-year-old TV and radio presenter forks out the fee for a mystery man to help her become more flexible, because she is keen to bend her body into the eye-watering physical position.
She said: “I want to be able to do the splits. There’s this Eastern European guy and I’ve paid £10 for his lessons and he’s obviously doing it in a flat where he’s only got a stool with three legs.
“There’s a picture of this woman, who must be in her 90s, doing a front split with a head on the knee. And I thought: ‘Yeah, she’ll do for me.’ ”
Carol has recalled a dress she wore at the BAFTAs in 2000 was once the subject of a debate about whether women aged 39 should wear a garment above the knee, and she admits the “vitriol was incredible”.
Speaking on ‘The Netmums Podcast’, she added: “When I was 39, not my grandmother, not my mother, it was the 21st Century it was the year 2000 … I went to the BAFTAs wearing a short dress, not a micro skirt, they made a ‘Kilroy Show’ on the BBC and they flew this dress in from Paris.
“It was an Ungaro dress, and the dress arrived and this huge debate in the studio was not is this a nice dress, but should a woman age 39 wear a dress above the knee! Oh the vitriol was incredible.”
Last month, Carol admitted she doesn’t believe in having “one partner for life”.
The former ‘Countdown’ host – who has children Katie, 31, and Cameron, 25, with her ex-husband Patrick King, and was also married to Christopher Mather – said: “I’m nearly 62 now and our mothers told us that we should marry when we were 18 or 19 years of age, so we grew up with this convention that we should find one partner for life and all the good fairy tales tell you that they married and lived happily ever after.
“My view is not quite like that. If people do have a very happy and long marriage, that is wonderful. Congratulations.
“I prefer to live my life – and people should speak about it in this way – in chapters. You try to have happy chapters and I think that’s what you’re looking for next.
“I have ignored looking for one person. I have special friends. It’s not realistic to expect one person to fulfil all your needs. The younger generation has a much freer approach to sexuality. After sexuality, the second most popular is bisexuality. But my generation couldn’t talk about that.
“It’s a taboo that particularly applies to women of age 60 plus.
“We were taught that we should marry who should look after us. Now the vast majority of women work. This is a time to break the nonsense taboo that every person should be looking for one other person that satisfies everything in their life. That’s one hell of a pressure.”

Aimee Lou Wood: Sex Education will explore new territory

OHMYGOSSIP — Aimee Lou Wood says the fourth season of ‘Sex Education’ will explore “new territory”.
The ‘Living’ star – who has played Aimee Gibbs since the start of the Netflix series, which also stars Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson and Ncuti Gatwa – admitted the new school makes things feel “slightly off centre” after Moordale Secondary School was forced to shut its doors due to a lack of funding.
The 27-year-old actress told Digital Spy: “The characters feel like they’re in very new territory because they literally are, they’re at a new school. A lot of our feeling slightly off-centre is actually also just because of what is happening in the story which is that they are [at] a new school.”
Aimee remarked on the “newness” running through the latest series of the show, after her character’s best pal Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) moved to America for the final year of school.
She said: “Aimee, particularly, her best friend’s in America, she doesn’t have a boyfriend for the first time ever, she’s at a brand new school where she doesn’t have any mates. So there’s a lot of newness for all of the characters and I think that that does make the show feel very new.”
The ‘On The Edge’ star admitted it has been a “fun acting challenge” trying to recapture the show’s charm amid all the new elements.
Aimee added: “[It’s about] maintaining who they are when everything around us is different because it really does feel different. We’ve got different directors, different writers, so it’s very, very, very new which can also be exciting.”

Kit Harington aims to get out of his comfort zone

OHMYGOSSIP — Kit Harington is trying to play roles that “scare” him.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ star has revealed that he is attempting to take on projects that require him to leave his comfort zone as he plays the villainous Ricky in the upcoming film ‘Blood for Dust’ after making his name as the heroic Jon Snow in the fantasy series.
Kit told The Hollywood Reporter: “At the moment, and for the last couple of years, I’m trying to – and that’s another reason why I wanted to play this role – take roles that I’m a bit scared about doing.
“It’s fun playing a baddie, I think. I spent a long time playing the epitome of a good, honest human, trying to do the right thing that everyone’s rooting for. And maybe this is a reaction to the length of time I was doing that.”
The star’s alter ego in ‘Blood for Dust’ is an illegal weapons dealer who is prone to violence and Kit described the antagonist as “gnarly”.
The 35-year-old actor said: “I’m playing a pretty gnarly dude.
“It’s not necessarily a part that I would generally get offered, and that’s quite interesting to me.”
Kit has revealed that he will have to master a Missouri accent for Rod Blackhurst’s film and it will require extra research.
He said: “We feel that (my character) is possibly from Missouri, so I’m going to be doing a specific American accent for it. And that’s a big step, because an English guy like me has little to do with Missouri.
“So it requires that bit more research to make sure you’re not just affecting something. But I’m deep in that moment, and it certainly feels like the right place for the character to come from.”
Harington admits that independent films are appealing at this point in his career as he shares a young son with his wife Rose Leslie.
The ‘Eternals’ star said: “It is a medium that more and more fits my life at the moment.
“Having a young son, having done a TV show for a long time, the opportunity to go and play interesting, odd characters for a couple of months, here and there, is appealing to me.”

Ryan Coogler: Terminator 2 inspired Black Panther sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Coogler credits ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ as a “big inspiration” for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
The 36-year-old director is helming the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster and explained how the dynamic between the villain Namor (Tenoch Huerta) and the protagonists is similar to that of T-1000 (Robert Patrick) and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator in the 1991 movie.
Speaking to Collider, Ryan said of his approach to antagonists: “I think about them as, you know, this is a character that’s going to come in conflict with my protagonist.
“And it’d be interesting if they want the same things, but because of who they are and what shaped them, they want to get those things in different ways and their means come in conflict with each other. And it comes to a head. That’s kind of how movies I like are structured.”
The filmmaker continued: “‘Terminator 2’ is a big inspiration for this movie. Big time. And you think about what T-1000 wants, and what Arnold Schwarzenegger’s robot wants. They both want John Connor, but T-1000 wants to kill him, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character wants to protect him. That’s the movie.
“And I look at it like that and also try to spend time with them. Not too much, you know what I’m saying? But enough that you understand where they’re coming from and that you believe them when they make threats.”
The movie has been heavily affected by the passing of Chadwick Boseman – who starred as T’Challa/Black Panther in the original film – and Ryan previously revealed that he considered walking away from the industry after the star’s death in 2020 following a private battle with cancer.
He said: “I was at a point when I was like, ‘I’m walking away from this business.’
“I didn’t know if I could make another movie period, (let alone) another ‘Black Panther’ movie, because it hurt a lot. I was like, ‘Man, how could I open myself up to feeling like this again?’ ”
