Strictly’s Helen Skelton reveals secret bond with Gorka Marquez’s fiancee Gemma Atkinson

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Helen Skelton has struck up a friendship with her dance partner Gorka Marquez’s financée Gemma Atkinson.
The ‘Countryfile’ presenter, 39, counts her lucky stars she’s forged a close friendship with the former ‘Hollyoaks’ star, because Gemma understands what it’s like being in Helen’s shoes, having competed on the BBC dance show herself.
Helen told Closer magazine: “I’m so lucky because Gemma’s also done the show and she gets it.
“She understands what it’s like when you’re in my shoes, so I feel like I get the benefit of that support [as well as Gorka’s].”
Gemma – who was a runner-up in the 15th series of the BBC Latin and ballroom show – previously took to social media to show her support for the pair, uploading a selfie of the two on Instagram.
She wrote in the caption: “C’mon!!! Go out there and shine Helen! You’re gonna have the most Amazing time on Strictly! Will be rooting for you both. (sic)”
Helen also recently remarked on her friendship with professional dancer Gorka, admitting she begins each day “in the best possible frame of mind”.
She recently wrote: “I’ve had many supportive messages, too, not least from Angela Rippon, who, of course, witnessed many a Foxtrot in her ‘Come Dancing’ presenting days. You need all these little boosts along the way.
“Gorka brings me a coffee at the start of our training sessions and writes on the paper cup. ‘You’ve got this!’, so I begin each day in the best possible frame of mind. We also eat a lot of pastries. Pastries help immeasurably.”

Ralph Fiennes open to Harry Potter return

OHMYGOSSIP — Ralph Fiennes is interested in a return to ‘Harry Potter’.
The 59-year-old star played the villain Lord Voldemort in the series based on the novels by J.K. Rowling and confirmed that he would be prepared to reprise the role if the chance arose.
Asked by Variety if he would play Voldemort again, Ralph said: “Sure, of course. No question about it.”
Ralph’s revelation comes after Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav said that he wants to make more ‘Harry Potter’ movies.
The media executive confirmed that the organisation is looking for Rowling’s approval to make another wizardry film.
Zaslav said: “We’re going to focus on franchises. We haven’t had a Superman movie in 13 years. We haven’t done a ‘Harry Potter’ in 15 years. The DC movies and the ‘Harry Potter’ movies provided a lot of the profits for Warner Bros… over the past 25 years.”
He added on the prospect of more Potter films: “If we can do something with J.K. on ‘Harry Potter’ going forward.”
Rowling caused controversy in 2020 with comments on Twitter that many considered to be transphobic and a number of cast members – including Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson – have distanced themselves from her.
Fiennes recently defended the author against the “verbal abuse” and death threats she has been subjected to for her outspoken beliefs.
The James Bond star said: “J.K. Rowling has written these great books about empowerment, about young children finding themselves as human beings.
“It’s about how you become a better, stronger, more morally centred human being. The verbal abuse directed at her is disgusting, it’s appalling.”
Ralph continued: “I mean, I can understand a viewpoint that might be angry at what she says about women. But it’s not some obscene, uber-right-wing fascist. It’s just a woman saying, ‘I’m a woman and I feel I’m a woman and I want to be able to say that I’m a woman.’ And I understand where she’s coming from. Even though I’m not a woman.”

Rian Johnson aimed for Knives Out sequel contrast

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson wanted ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ to contrast with the original film.
The 48-year-old director returns to helm the murder mystery sequel which sees Daniel Craig reprise his role as Detective Benoit Blanc and revealed that he set the project on a Greek beach to provide a big difference from the first movie.
Speaking at the movie’s US premiere in Los Angeles, Rian told The Hollywood Reporter: “I wanted to tell the audience right up front that this was going to be a very different film than the first one, so going from a cosy New England autumn to a Greek beach seemed like a really big, interesting way of doing that.”
The director pointed out that a number of classic whodunits – such as ‘Death on the Nile’ – have taken place in sunny settings.
Rian said: “Also there’s a rich tradition of vacation murder mysteries like ‘Evil Under the Sun’, ‘Death on the Nile’, ‘The Last of Sheila’, and so tapping into that vein seemed rich.
“And also, who doesn’t want to go to Greece? I’m no dummy, I wasn’t going to write us in the middle of nowhere.”
Chris Evans’ sweater was a big talking point from the 2019 movie and Rian claims that garments worn by Craig and Dave Bautista will have a similar impact this time around.
The ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ filmmaker quipped: “I’d love to say Dave Bautista in his little bikini bottom swimming suit.
“Blanc has a pretty great swimsuit look that is kind of a Jacques Tati-style shirt and shorts, that’s blue striped that he wears with a yellow ascot, which I think is a damn good look.”

Gemma Owen and Luca Bish split

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Owen has split from Luca Bish.
The ‘Love Island’ runners up have called time on their romance after three months together but admitted it “wasn’t an easy decision” for them to go their separate ways as she thanked fans for their support.
She wrote on Instagram: “To all my followers, I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn’t an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for us both right now.
“Many of you have been on this journey with us from the beginning, and I wanted to thank you for your continued support as we start our new chapters.”
Meanwhile, Luca suggested he hadn’t wanted the news to be made public yet.
He wrote on his own Instagram Story on Wednesday (16.11.22) evening: “Switched my phone back on after taking some time out to clear my head after an emotional afternoon to thousands of messages and news articles about my breakup.
“I would have liked some time to process this privately but as you all already now know, sadly Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways.
“We have been on such a journey together and have made some amazing memories which I will treasure.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for their support for us as a couple during and after ‘Love Island’.
“We will remain good friends and I wish nothing but the best for her.”
Last month, Gemma, 19, admitted she and 23-year-old Luca were making no plans to move in together and were happy with their long-distance romance.
She said: “We don’t have any plans to move into together just yet.
“I’m a home girl – it’s where everything is, I’m family orientated and I’m still young.
“In the immediate future I’m happy with where I am, and the setup Luca and I have.
“We are everywhere right now, when I’m down in London working, we spend time with each other and when we have a free weekend, he’ll join me in Cheshire and be with the horses. We’re making it work around our busy schedules.
“We’re seeing how it goes, we’ll go on a few nice holidays – no pressure.”

Chris Moyles bags just one star on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Moyles managed to win just one star on Wednesday’s (16.11.22) ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The Radio X DJ felt “awkward” when he returned to camp after taking part in the latest Bushtucker Trial, which saw him forced to face his fear of confined spaces to crawl through a series of pipes to retrieve the stars.
Not only was the 48-year-old broadcaster struggling with his surroundings, things got worse when he dropped his bag, losing the spanners he was using to unscrew the stars, and also the tokens themselves, leading him to have to use the final few minutes of the challenge to retrieve the items – but he was only able to rescue one of the two stars he’d collected.
He said: “I’m going, to be honest with you, it all went t*** up, couldn’t even get through the membrane, this is pathetic. I’ve lost a star…
“I can’t go back to camp, they’ll all say really nice things and every single one of them will be lying… I think I’m going to go back and tell them I got none.”
Chris’ campmates took it well when he broke the news to them.
He told the group: “It’s really not good news and I’m really sorry, this is so awkward, I didn’t and I’m not joking, I got one star, to make it worse I got two and it fell out of my bag.
“It was enclosed spaces everybody.”
Despite the DJ’s prediction, the rest of the contestants were just as supportive in the Bush Telegraph as they were to his face.
Charlene White said: “He’s just crestfallen, you can see it in his little face.”
And Boy George said: “I wanted him to come back with more for him, not for me, I thought it would be good for his self-esteem.”
Chris apologised again when dinner, a bony fish, was delivered into camp.
He admitted: “I feel like s**** because one star has resulted in the smallest fish you’ve seen in your life.”
But Owen Warner said: “It’s literally better than nothing.”
Meanwhile, Thursday’s (17.11.22) trial, The Scareground, will see the celebrities decide themselves which three contestants take part.

Susannah Constantine: What Not to Wear wouldn’t be made today

OHMYGOSSIP — Susannah Constantine says ‘What Not to Wear’ wouldn’t be made today.
The 60-year-old TV presenter co-hosted the series alongside Trinny Woodall from 2001 to 2005, but Susannah doesn’t think it would be able to return nowadays because people are “fed up of being told what to do”.
She said: “It was of its time and came along at the right moment, but it wouldn’t work today and I can understand why.
“People are fed up of being told what to do.”
Susannah still feels “really ashamed” that she once plucked a hair from Jo Brand’s chin when the comedian appeared on the BBC show, which saw Trinny and Susannah give members of the public their opinions about their fashion choices, before giving them a makeover.
She added to the Radio Times magazine: “Both Trinny and I say this – there’s not one person who regretted coming on our show, not one.
“The one thing I do regret was when Jo Brand did our show. I’m really ashamed, looking back. I have little whiskers on my chin, which I pluck, and she had a little whisker on her chin, which I plucked and it really offended her. I felt terrible about that.”
In December last year, Susannah admitted she thought viewers were “crying out” for the show to return.
She said: “I do think the format would still work now. People are crying out for something that is honest and not watered down and homogenised, which a lot of TV these days is.
“Trinny and I had an ability to connect with people and I think that by being straight talking, women trusted us.
“It was never gratuitous – we never criticised the woman’s body, we only criticised what the clothes were doing for them.”

Greta Gerwig eyed by Netflix to direct The Chronicles of Narnia

OHMYGOSSIP — Greta Gerwig is being eyed to direct ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ for Netflix.
The streaming giant is looking to begin the franchise with two films and want Greta to be at the helm for both.
Netflix announced in 2018 that it was teaming up with The C.S. Lewis Company in a multi-year deal where they could produce series and movies based on the beloved books.
A year later, the streamer announced that Matthew Alrich had joined the franchise as a “creative architect” to oversee all development going forward. He is best known for his work at Disney Pixar and co-wrote the film ‘Coco’.
Netflix have not commented on the Gerwig rumours but the filmmaker has worked on the movies ‘Lady Bird’, ‘Little Women’ and the upcoming ‘Barbie’ flick.
The film will feature Margot Robbie in the lead role and she explained that she didn’t want to make an “obvious” movie about the Mattel doll.
The 32-year-old star told the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine: “Making an obvious Barbie movie would’ve been extremely easy to do, and anything easy to do is probably not worth doing…
“People have got strong feelings. I’d much rather that than indifference. Now, let me subvert your expectations. It’s much scarier, but it’s also a great place to begin.”
Greta revealed that she was left astonished by Margot’s acting ability.
The 39-year-old director said: “Once, I wanted to capture Margot in slow motion but have everything else move fast, so I went up to her and said, ‘Could you move at 48 frames per second, even though we’re shooting in 24 frames per second and everyone else will be moving at regular speed?’
“She did some calculation behind her eyes and then f****** did it. She literally moved at a higher frame rate. I don’t know what category that goes into other than magic.”

Francis Lawrence confident that BioShock movie will be a hit

OHMYGOSSIP — Francis Lawrence believes that ‘BioShock’ can end the video game movie curse.
Films based on video games have often struggled to satisfy fans but the director is convinced that the nature of the ‘BioShock’ series will be a hit with cinemagoers.
Francis told Collider: “First of all, I think it’s one of the best games ever created. It’s also, I think, one of the most visually unique games ever created.
“The other thing, and one of the things that always appeals to me, is it is very thematic. There’s real ideas and philosophies underneath the game property, and it’s really, really thought out.
“A lot of games may have a great world of some kind, or they may have a great lead character, or they may tee you up for great set-pieces, but they don’t really have the ideas, they don’t have the kind of weight and the gravitas that ‘BioShock’ does.”
The ‘Hunger Games’ director revealed that he is a big fan of the range of genres that are covered in the games.
Francis, 51, said: “Plus, one of the things that I love, love, love is that sort of strange mashup of genre, the idea that you have what feels like a period piece, mixed with body horror, mixed with sci-fi. It’s one of those great mashups, and I think it can be really unique and really beautiful and really entertaining.”
The director is making the movie for Netflix and confirmed that he has been given creative freedom by the streaming giant.
He said: “There’s always discussions about rating and tone. I don’t want to get into it too much now because it’s pretty early on in the process, but I certainly have not felt stifled in any way, or sent in any directions with Netflix.”

David Harbour promises ‘visceral’ Gran Turismo film

OHMYGOSSIP — David Harbour has promised a “visceral” ‘Gran Turismo’ movie.
The ‘Stranger Things’ actor has been cast in the film that is based on the PlayStation racing video game series of the same name and is delighted to be working with director Neill Blomkamp on the project.
David, 47, told Collider: “Neill is so cool and such a good director that it’s really been a joy to work on this movie, and this movie’s going to be… Talk about not what you expect, with him at the helm there’s a visceralness to this movie, to this video game world that is so cool. I can’t wait for you to see this movie.”
The star also shared his excitement at the prospect of being involved in a film about car racing.
He said: “Yeah. Sim racing, man, who knew? Those guys are incredible.”
The new movie will feature rising star Archie Madekwe, Orlando Bloom and Spice Girl Geri Horner in the cast.
It is based on a true story and follows a ‘Gran Turismo’ player whose gaming abilities won him a series of Nissan competitions to become a professional racing driver.
Madekwe will play the teenage driver while Harbour stars as the retired racer who teaches him to drive. Geri will feature as the driver’s mother.
Orlando will star as a marketing executive who is selling the sport of motor racing.
The movie is scheduled for release in August 2023.
In a statement, Asad Qizilbash of PlayStation Productions, said: “As one of PlayStation’s longest-standing and most beloved franchises, it’s great to be partnering with Columbia Pictures again to bring ‘Gran Turismo’ to life in an exciting way.
“We can’t wait for audiences to see Neill’s vision of this inspiring true story of gamer turned professional race car driver.”

Spencer Matthews to climb Mount Everest in search for brother’s body

OHMYGOSSIP — Spencer Matthews is to climb Mount Everest to search for the missing body of his brother Michael.
The former ‘Made In Chelsea’ star has teamed up with Disney Plus to make a documentary about his expedition to the world’s highest peak looking for the remains of his late sibling who died during a descent down the mountain back in 1999 when he was just 22.
Spencer underwent therapy before taking on the ordeal, and said on his ‘Big Fish’ podcast: “It was important for me to get my head around the fact I might come face to face with my brother’s frozen body. I knew it was going to be a gut-wrenching and emotional journey.”
Michael died shortly after becoming the youngest British climber to summit Mount Everest following in the footsteps of TV adventurer Bear Grylls who previously completed the challenge at the age of 23.
Bear later led an exhibition back up the mountain in a bid to recover Michael’s body, but it was not successful.
Speaking at the Oxford Union, Bear explained: “We actually had an expedition on Everest to try to recover the body of the brother of a good friend, who climbed it the year after I was there but was never found.
“We really tried. We had the best team in the world.”
Spencer previously opened up about the effect the tragedy had on his family in his 2013 book ‘Confessions of a Chelsea Boy: The Autobiography’.
The TV star explained they had struggled to find peace and it was particularly hard on his elder brother James.
Spencer wrote: “His loss was devastating for the family and over time this became worse because the circumstances surrounding Michael’s death have never been fully explained.
“James took the news badly. With just a year and a half between them, he and Mike were the closest of friends. The loss was heartbreaking for James.”
He added: “We have not been able to say goodbye in person. We have nowhere to go to sit with him. He lives on with us in our minds only. On Mike’s birthday James and I send mum and dad red roses for the age he would have been. I guess our family’s way of dealing with losing Mike is to believe that he goes on with us.”

Olivia Attwood’s I’m A Celebrity stint was planned for five years

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Attwood’s appearance on ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ had been planned for five years and she fears she won’t get another chance to go back into the jungle.
The ‘Love Island’ star entered the show for the 2023 series but was later removed on medical grounds after a routine blood test showed signs of anaemia leaving her devastated – and she’s now revealed her stint on the show had been in the works ever since she left the villa back in 2017.
During an appearance on ‘This Morning’ on Monday (14.11.22), she explained: “I’ve been a big fan of the show all my life … and those conversations about ‘I’m A Celebrity’ started the year I left ‘Love Island’ so it’s been five years in the making leading up to that moment … ”
Olivia became the first ever former ‘Love Island’ star to join ‘I’m A Celebrity’ and it’s made it even more difficult for her to deal with leaving early.
She went on: “There was that thing will they ever put someone from ‘Love Island’ in there. I know it sounds self-indulgent but yeah I think you come off the show [Love Island] and get huge opportunities but you can get put in a box I was looking forward to showing a different side of myself … I was loving it.”
Since flying back to the UK, Olivia has undergone more tests and found she’s perfectly healthy but she explained show bosses just couldn’t risk putting her back into the jungle.
She said: “I was like ‘shall we go back?’ and I knew there would be Covid tests and things like that but there was a pause in proceedings there, and it was late at night and taking me back into camp doesn’t work logistically so I went to a hotel and basically as I now know the conversations went on all through the night with production obviously desperate to have me back in, but the medical team … I think it’s an insurance thing. Because they had those readings, they had to seek other party opinions and it’s a collective decision.”
She went on: “Their opinion was well they [the blood test results] went that low before, what if we put her back in and they drop back down again and we wouldn’t be covered [by the insurance] because it had already been flagged up …
“Thank God [I’m healthy]. Being healthy … I’m grateful I’m healthy but it makes it harder I think to accept because I’m fine but it is what it is. There are worse things happening in the world. I’m very lucky to be in the position I’m in but gutted.”
Olivia also fears she may never get the chance to do the show again because her diary is completely full for the next year.
She added: “The problem we had this year is like luckily which I feel so grateful for is I’ve got my other shows, I’ve got the documentary which are all scheduled up until this point next year.
“So we’ve already moved everything once and I daren’t even approach that question yet so I think it will just be a logistical thing … would we be able to make it work? … I would love to [go back next year]. I was loving it.”

Breada Edwards returned to accounts manager job to pay mortgage during COVID

OHMYGOSSIP — Brenda Edwards returned to her previous job in accounts throughout the coronavirus pandemic as she “had a mortgage to pay like everyone else”.
The ‘Loose Women’ panellist, 53, – who found fame after reaching fourth place in second series of ‘The X Factor’ back in 2005 – worked as an accounts payable manager for 25 years before moving to showbiz.
Brenda also returned to her old job in 2016 when she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer as she wasn’t too proud and “needed to work”.
Speaking to Hayley Palmer during an appearance on ‘Saturday Night’, she said: “I was an accounts payable manager for 25 years, very successful, and I will go back and do it again if my career…”
A dumbfounded Hayley asked: “Would you?”
Brenda answered: “Yes, I have done. I did it in the pandemic and I did it when I was going through my breast cancer because I needed to work.
“Yeah, I’m not proud. I’ve got a mortgage to pay like everybody else.
“It just takes someone savvy. An accounts payable manager, basically if we’re staying in a hotel for example, you’ve got a beautiful hotel, but you’ve got to pay for the fixtures, the utilities, the people delivering this and that.
“It was my job to pay and keep them in check and I was very good at it, yeah, and I will go back into it tomorrow. It’s like riding a bike, you never forget.”
Last year, the musical theatre star – who played Motormouth Maybelle in ‘Hairspray’ – opened up about her struggle after learning she had breast cancer and revealed she and her co-stars all broke down on stage whilst singing ‘I Know Where I’ve Been One Night’.
During an appearance on ‘Martin and Roman’s Weekend Best’, she told the presenters: “When I was doing the show in 2016 that’s when I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer and I did the show and I sang that song.
“’It’s like ‘There’s a road we’ve been travelling, lost so many on the way’ and those words came up and the cast all started crying.”

Michael Kurinsky saddened by Scoob! Holiday Haunt cancellation

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Kurinsky was heartbroken to discover that ‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt’ had been pulled from release on social media.
The filmmaker had been due to make his directorial debut on the animated Scooby-Doo sequel but the release was cancelled by Warner Bros. Discovery in August and Kurinsky was devastated to realise that his work on the movie would come to nothing.
Michael said: “According to Warner Brothers, news had gotten leaked. And they weren’t able to call us by the time this news had leaked. So, we found out in a shocking way.”
The film – which had been due to feature the voices of Mckenna Grace and Frank Welker – is completely finished but Kurinsky is disappointed that it is unlikely to be seen by fans.
He explained: “We had a few hundred shots that needed to be finished, lit, rendered and then approved.
“We had a certain amount of time to finish those shots, and we did. I heard numbers like it was about 95 per cent finished. That’s pretty close.”
Kurinsky was also devastated that he was denied the chance to fulfil a dream about directing a movie.
He said: “I’ve been working in this industry for 27, 28 years, something like that.
“This is the thing I have worked my whole career for, and it finally happened. And then eight weeks before we were done, things changed.”
The director said that production on the movie had already been difficult as they had been given an accelerated timeline in which to make the film.
He said: “We had two years from start to finish. And when I say that I don’t mean we had a finished script and then we were gonna start production in those two years. No, we started from a, like, two-page outline. And we said, ‘You have two years to make this movie. And it needs to be done by this date. Go.’ And we got it done by said day.”

James Mangold denies Indiana Jones replacement rumours

OHMYGOSSIP — James Mangold has denied rumours that Phoebe Waller-Bridge will replace Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones.
The ‘Fleabag’ actress joins the action franchise for the upcoming fifth movie as Indy’s goddaughter Helena and reports suggest that she could become the lead star as film chiefs have shot a series of possible endings – including the death of the legendary archaeologist.
However, James has taken to social media to deny speculation that Indy will be replaced and refuted claims that the movie has received poor test screenings.
The director – who takes over from Steven Spielberg behind the camera on the upcoming film – tweeted: “No one will ever replace Indiana Jones. Not in any script. Not in any cut. Never discussed.”
A source at Disney Studios had told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: “A handful of different endings have been shot and are being shown to test audiences. In one, Indy dies but not before handing over his bullwhip to Phoebe’s character.”
Harrison has praised Phoebe and says her presence is a “significant” reason why the movie will delight audiences.
Speaking at a Disney event to promote the movie, the 80-year-old star pointed at his colleague and said: “I’m very proud to say that this film is fantastic and this is one of the reasons.
“‘Indiana Jones’ movies are about mystery and adventure but they’re also about heart.
“And I’m really happy that we have a really human story to tell, as well as a movie that will kick your ass.”
Ford has confirmed that this will be his final outing as Indy and production on the movie had to be delayed after he injured his right arm during a fighting sequence.
He said: “This is it. I will not fall down for you again.”
