Adrian Dunbar: Line of Duty cast keeping fingers crossed for new series

OHMYGOSSIP — Adrian Dunbar says the ‘Line of Duty’ cast are “keeping their fingers crossed” that there will be a new series.
The 64-year-old actor is best known for playing Superintendent Ted Hastings in the hit police drama across six series, and admits he and his co-stars, who include Vicky McClure and Martin Compston, are keen to head back to Belfast to film another instalment.
Asked if they might “do another one”, he replied: “Yes, there is every possibility. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll hear something at some point.
“We all want to get back together again. We’d love to go back to Belfast again.”
Adrian is hoping he and his co-stars can “have a bit of fun” shooting another series, after season six was filmed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, he added: “The last time we did it it was in lockdown, so we were all in bubbles. We couldn’t get out … everything was shut. So we’d like to get back to Belfast for a bit of fun.”
In August, Adrian admitted a new ‘Line of Duty’ series might focus on “something from past episodes”, and teased that the 2021 finale – which drew in almost 17 million viewers – may “not be the last” audiences see of the BBC show.
He said: “My thinking is that, no, it’s not the last you might see of us. I know that there are people who are talking and some plans, but I don’t know exactly what would happen. I don’t know what shape it might take. There was talk of a film, there was talk about maybe two 90 minutes, there was talk about three one hours, I don’t know.”
However, the ‘Hear My Song’ actor went on to explain he has “no idea” what the storyline would be for a potential new series, but he doesn’t envisage it being “something new”.
He said: “I have no idea [what it would be.] I’m sure it won’t be something new. It would have to be something maybe from past episodes, that kind of rears its ugly head again. So there is all kinds of talk going on, and we’re waiting to see if somebody gives us a green light and says yeah, it’s actually going to happen.”

Great British Bake off final ‘tension rises’ as all 3 struggle with technical and showstoppers

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Great British Bake off’ final will see all three finalists struggle with their showstoppers and technical challenges.
The finale, which takes place on Channel 4 tonight (15.11.22), sees the trio, Sandro Farmhouse, 30, Syabira Yusoff, 32, and Abdul Rehman Sharif, 29, crumble under pressure as they fight to be crowned winner of the 13th series.
After a solid start, things begin to go goes pear-shaped in the technical when they’re asked to create a summer pudding bomb with no instructions and they are left to their own devices.
Prue Leith tells the finalists: “If this doesn’t set it will just sink like a splodge”.
After all three fail to make a stable treat, which all end up being a sloppy mess, one of them is picked out as the best out of the bunch.
But before anyone can applaud, judge Paul Hollywood declares the pudding is “only half set”.
Expecting to bounce back from the technical disaster, the cream fails to rise to the top, as all three bakers struggle with their showstoppers.
Set with the task to create an edible sculpture based on “our planet”, one creation is described as “burnt” and “messy”, while another is described as a “failure”.
Before the final hurdle, Prue, 82, says: “I don’t care who wins, I just love them all.”
Meanwhile, Paul, 56, admitted the pressure is really one the three bakers in the final because they have an audience in the tent, unlike in previous episodes.
He said: “They [bakers] are all in with shout of winning. But they start spotting their friends in the corner and the tension really rises.”

Syabira wins The Great British Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — Syabira has won ‘The Great British Bake Off.’
The 32-year-old cardiovascular research associate – who is originally from Malaysia but now lives in London – had been taking part in the Channel 4 cooking series and made it through to the final but had impressed judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith so much with her edible sculpture of an orangutan titled ‘This Is My Home’ that she was crowned the winner.
Immediately after winning on Tuesday’s (15.11.22) episode, she said: “I can’t believe it honestly hasn’t sinked out. It is unbelievable. This is the biggest achievement in my life. All of the hard work and all of the trial and error has been worth it.”
Syabira had beaten fellow finalists Abdul and Sandro – who had also been tasked with creating a sculpture cake around the theme of Large Planet – to the title of champion with her multi-layered cake that featured hazelnut chocolate buttercream, tarragon shortbread and was completed with gooseberry meringue and rhubarb and strawberry cream.
The annual contest was won by Giuseppe Dell’Anno in 2021 and has not been won by a woman since Sophie Faldo in 2017 and Syabira explained that she was dedicating her victory to “all the girls” out there and urged them to follow their dreams.
She added: “I’m coming out as a new person after this competition., I became more confident It’s been a while since we had a woman winner so there you go all girls, that’s for us. We can all do it as long as we work hard and follow our heart.”
Explaining why Syabira won, Paul Hollywood said: “All of the flavours she used were so different. Some of them I’ve never even had in that tent before!” while Prue remarked: “She is creative, she is careful and she practices like anything and she’s imaginative. She has the lot and she is a very skilful baker.”

Chris Moyles to face another trial on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Moyles is to face another Bushtucker Trial on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’
The 48-year-old radio star is currently appearing on the ITV1 jungle survival show and had taken part in the Angel of Agony alongside comedian Babatunde Aleshe and pop icon Boy George but has now been voted by the public to face Boiling Point alone on Wednesday (16.11.22).
Following the announcement made by Ant and Dec, Chris sighed: “I’ll be fine, I’ll be fine!”
Boy George quipped: “I have to say, I’m relieved, rice and beans tonight everyone though!”
Earlier in the show, the trio had faced a trial based on the famous Angel of the North statue in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, and were pelted with green ants, cockroaches, and scorpions as they tried to pass stars to each other but in the end only managed to secure three out of a possible 11 meals for camp, setting a record-low for the series so far.
Following the disappointing result, hosts Ant and Dec remarked that the trial was”awful” and “frustrating to watch” and Babatunde joked that he had “butterfingers” throughout the ordeal.
Later that evening, the trio’s efforts were rewarded with a small portion of crocodile feet and former rugby player Mike Tindall complained that there “was not a lot of meat” on them, while Babtune labelled them as “alien feet” but footballer Jill Scott proclaimed that “food is food and food is mood” as she encouraged her fellow campmates to tuck in.
Meanwhile, former Health Secretary Matt Hancock, 44, – who took part in a chain of six trials for camp before the public voted for Chris – was quizzed by ‘Coronation Street’ actress Sue Cleaver on “what went wrong” with former Prime Minister Liz Truss who took over from Boris Johnson but quit after a matter of weeks in office earlier this year before she was replaced by Rishi Sunak.
He said: “Her political career is over. It is totally finished. No ambiguity. I think [going for the less experienced party member ] was all about how Boris was kicked out. It was all about people seeing Rishi as wielding the knife against Boris.”
When ‘Loose Women’ anchor Charlene White suggested that the Conservative party tried to “punish the country” by electing Liz into the role, he suggested her analysis was “unfair.”
He said: “That implies a malign motive which isn’t fair but they definitely put the disloyalty to Boris as a negative. Even the old Boris die-hards who hadn’t wanted him to resign had moved on. I was very supportive of him but when it was time to go, it was time for him to go.”
Matt – who was given the regal position of camp leader earlier this week – later joked that he felt as if he was on BBC game show ‘Mastermind’ after being asked all the questions.
Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, he said: “There I was sat in the comfy red chair and I felt like I was on ‘Mastermind’ being asked all these questions!”

ITV ‘planning big budget drama’ about Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV is reportedly planning a drama about the creation of ‘Big Brother’.
The broadcaster – which is bringing back the iconic reality show with a revival set for ITV2 in 2023 – is said to be looking to get ‘Downton Abbey’ creator Julian Fellowes on board to adapt the story of producer Ruth Wrigley and her role in the original launch in 2000.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “The drama is likely to be in a similar vein to ITV hit ‘Quiz’ which looked at ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’
“It is focused on the story of cheating Major Charles Ingram, who infamously coughed his way to con the show out of its seven-figure jackpot.
“The ‘Big Brother’ drama will similarly zone in on the career of Ruth who was instrumental in making it one the nation’s biggest obsessions.”
The show would be expected to look at the “huge misogyny” Ruth battled as she rose up the TV industry.
The insider added: “Her story is particularly interesting as she had to fight huge misogyny to become one of Britain’s biggest exec producers.”
As well as helping launch ‘Big Brother’ – which was on Channel 4 for a decade before moving to Channel 5 in 2011 for a seven-year stint – Ruth helped create ‘The Only Way Is Essex’.
It’s also thought the drama would see someone play Davina McCall, who was the reality show’s first ever host.
Meanwhile, earlier this week it was reported that AJ Odudu is in final talks to front the ITV2 revival.
A source said: “AJ has been offered the Big Brother job and jumped at the opportunity. It’s a huge boost to her career.
“AJ and ITV are still ironing out details in her contract but she has told a lot of people the job is hers.”

DC Films won’t have ‘four Batmans’ on screen as they seek more unified approach

OHMYGOSSIP — Warner Bros. Discovery doesn’t want “four Batmans” as part of a unified plan for DC Films.
The DC Extended Universe – which is being pushed forward by new CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran – is moving away from the idea of a multiverse, which has recently seen Michael Keaton, Robert Pattinson and Ben Affleck all working on different projects as the Caped Crusader.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav told The Wrap: “I think over the next few years, you’re going to see a lot of growth and opportunity around DC, there’s not going to be four Batmans.
“And so part of our strategy is drive the hell out of DC, which James and Peter are going to do.
“I think they’ve thrilled the fans. I think they’re going to thrill you over a period of time.”
Keaton – who played Batman in Tim Burton’s 1989 and 1992 movies – will reprise his role in ‘The Flash’ next year when the titular character travels to a different universe in which he is still wearing the famous cape and cowl.
He was also set to appear in the now-scrapped ‘Batgirl’ movie, while Affleck’s version of the character will have a cameo in ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, and he will also appear in ‘The Flash’.
Pattinson debuted in ‘The Batman’ to kick start his franchise, with a sequel in the works.
New bosses Gunn and Safran recently revealed they are mapping out at “10-year plan” for the studio’s approach.
Gunn explained: “We spent the past couple days with a group of some of the best thinkers in the industry, the best writers in the industry starting to map out that eight to 10-year plan of what it’s going to look like in theatre, in TV, in animation, across the board for these characters.”

COVID campaigners call for Matt Hancock to ‘get out’ of I’m A Celebrity with big banner

OHMYGOSSIP — A banner has been flown above the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ camp telling Matt Hancock to “get out” of the jungle.
Campaign group 38 Degrees have claimed responsibility for the message, which read “Covid Bereaved say get out of here”, after the former Health Secretary’s appearance in the jungle – for which he was suspended by the Conservative Party – sparked a huge backlash.
The message was on behalf of campaign group Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice UK.
Lobby Akinnola – who lost his father to coronavirus – of Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice UK, said in a statement: “Matt Hancock isn’t a ‘celebrity’, he’s the former Health Secretary who oversaw the UK having one of the highest death tolls in the world from Covid-19 whilst breaking his own lockdown rules.”
Matthew McGregor, chief executive of 38 Degrees, said: “No-one has forgotten how Matt Hancock conducted himself during the Covid-19 pandemic: not the general public, not his campmates, and certainly not those who lost loved ones.
“Our message emblazoned across the skies makes crystal clear to Matt Hancock: you should be representing the people of West Suffolk and giving Covid Bereaved Families the answers they deserve, rather than playing games for dingo dollars, plastic stars and a [reported] £400,000 pay check.”
Matt previously came under fire for breaking his own social distancing guidance amid the coronavirus pandemic when he was caught kissing his aide Gina Coladangelo, who is now his girlfriend. As a result, he later resigned as Health Secretary.
Gina was spotted at London’s Heathrow airport on Tuesday evening (15.11.22) before making her way to Brisbane to support Matt and meet him when he comes out of the jungle.
Last week on the show, Matt insisted he seeks “forgiveness”.
He said: “No I did not break any lockdown rules. I didn’t break any law! Guidance is guidance but it was my guidance, that’s why … it was a mistake because I fell in love with somebody. It’s true.
“In a way, lots of the campmates ask questions that the public has got as well so it’s only respectful to give straight and truthful answers. That’s why I’m apologising for it.
“It’s bigger than just a sorry. Well, there you go and that’s one of the reasons that I regret it as much as I do.
“The pandemic as a whole, I’m much more robust in my defence of it. PPE for instance, of course, I saw what happened too but that’s because we needed masses more PPE and so did everybody else in the world. There’s reasons so much was taken. And ultimately, those problems were caused by the virus and not the people who were trying to solve the problem.
“What I’m really looking for is a bit of forgiveness. That’s what I’m really looking for. We all make mistakes. I made a pretty big one.”

Princess Diaries 3 ‘in the works’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Princess Diaries 3’ is in the works.
Aadrita Mukerji is writing a script for the upcoming third instalment of the film franchise, which is said to be a continuation of the series as opposed to a reboot.
But Anne Hathaway – who played Mia Thermopolis, heir to the throne and Princess of Genovia, in the first two films – does not yet have a deal to return to the movie.
Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that it is hoped Hathaway will join the cast if the film moves forward with production.
Just last month, Hathaway, 40, admitted she is “pulling” for a third film in the franchise.
She said: “I would more than entertain it, I’m pulling for it.
“If there’s any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work. We would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen.”
Julie Andrews portrayed Clarisse Renaldi, Mia’s grandmother and Queen regent of Genovia, in the original 2001 coming-of-age comedy movie, and the 2004 sequel.
But in June, 87-year-old Andrews insisted it is “too late” to make another ‘Princess Diaries’ movie.
She said: “I think it would be too late to do it now. There was talk of a sequel many, many years ago. But I don’t think it ever came to pass. And [director] Garry Marshall then did leave us. Especially [for] me, it’s too far down the line now to go back to it. It’s a lovely thought, but I don’t think it would probably be possible.”
In March, Hathaway hailed ‘The Princess Diaries’ as one of the “greatest gifts” of her life.
She said: “That movie is one of the greatest gifts of my life and always will be. It’s really something to think how loved it is after all these years. It makes people feel comfort. It makes people feel safe. It makes people laugh and they keep discovering it even now. And I was so cared for by Garry Marshall.
“He watched out for me and was so lovely and made me feel like I had worth.
“I never experienced anything a 17-year-old shouldn’t experience nor was I ever put in a position that a 17-year-old shouldn’t be put in. That shouldn’t make you lucky – and it shouldn’t need to be said – but it was. And it does.”

Emmett J Scanlan and Claire Cooper welcome daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — Emmett J. Scanlan and Claire Cooper have welcomed a daughter into the world.
The ‘Peaky Blinders’ actor, 43, took to Twitter to reveal his wife Claire Cooper – who he starred alongside in ‘Hollyoaks’ – has given birth to a baby girl.
He wrote: “3 days ago we met her…. #ScanClan (sic)”
Claire – who played Jacqui McQueen in the Channel 4 soap from 2006 to 2013 – revealed in June that she was expecting her second child with Emmett.
The 42-year-old actress – who has two-year-old son Ocean-Torin with the ‘Kin’ star – wrote on Instagram: “Our family is growing”
Emmett – who has 20-year-old daughter Kayla Scanlan from a previous relationship – posted at the time: “Incoming…. #ScanClan (sic)”
The couple also shared a professional picture of Claire in a field with their son touching her baby bump.
Emmett – who played Brendan Brady in ‘Hollyoaks’ from 2010 to 2013 – revealed in July 2020 that he and Claire had named their boy Ocean-Torin Scanlan.
He wrote on Instagram at the time: “Hey world, meet my world. Our world. Meet Ocean-Torin Scanlan.”
The couple lost a baby in July 2019, and Claire nearly lost her life.
Speaking about the tragedy in October 2020, to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week, Claire said at the time: “It’s baby loss awareness week and although I wasn’t quiet about our loss privately, I didn’t share it with the public, mainly I didn’t have the words at that time perhaps I still don’t but if this post helps one family or person out there, perhaps my words were worth the wait…or not.
“We lost our little soul July 2019 the devastation was unreal, the day came when my body let go of what I’d fought so hard to keep. Little did we know that I myself would also end up in a precarious situation strapped to machines fighting – it truly was hard enough losing our baby but to then fight for my own life was something else. I lost over a third of my blood my recovery was painfully slow. Instantly anaemic and instantly heartbroken. (sic)”

Paddy McGuinness urges fans to enjoy ‘one-off’ pal Peter Kay

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy McGuinness doesn’t think we’ll see the likes of Peter Kay again “in our lifetime”.
The former ‘Take Me Out’ presenter has paid tribute to his pal and ‘Phoenix Nights’ co-star, after he recently announced a comeback tour, and insists there is “no one that comes close” to what 49-year-old Peter does in his live stand-up shows.
He wrote on Instagram: “I don’t often speak about Pete and his achievements on my socials. He’s been a mate since childhood and that’s how I always see him?
Regardless of all the great things he’s achieved on television there’s literally no one who comes close to what he does live. The amount of tickets he sells is unheard of in the comedy world and beyond! He’s a one off folks, enjoy him, I don’t think you’ll see the likes of him again? Certainly not in our lifetime. (sic)”
‘Top Gear’ host Paddy, 49, admitted he is “proud” of Peter, and joked he hasn’t got any tickets for his in-demand tour.
He added: “I’m very proud of you son.
“PS I haven’t got tickets. PPS I don’t need any. #peterkay” (sic)”
Earlier this year, Paddy revealed he once saved Peter after he was locked out of his hotel room naked.
Paddy had called up his friend one night before realising they were both staying in adjoining rooms at London’s Soho Hotel.
Writing in his book ‘My Lifey’, he said: “It was all great fun until Peter swanned into my room starkers, only for the door to lock behind him…
“The dressing gown was too small for him, there was no way it would close at the front. I’d have to call someone down to reception to send someone up to unlock the door.
“I mean, how do you explain that one? ‘I’ve got one of the nation’s best-loved comedians in my room with his c*** out.’ ”
Thankfully, the hotel staff were very understanding, and Paddy was glad they were so “discreet”.
He added: “The manager knew who we both were but to be fair just opened up the locked door and left.
“That was the good things about the Soho Hotel, it was discreet.”
The duo starred as doormen Patrick ‘Paddy’ O’Shea and Max Bygraves in ‘Phoenix Nights’ and its ‘Max and Paddy’s Road To Nowhere’ spin-off.

Ferne McCann admits to sending ‘manipulated’ voice note about acid attack victim to protect family

OHMYGOSSIP — Ferne McCann has admitted to sending a voice note about an acid attack victim, but insists she did so to protect her family from “serious harm”.
The 32-year-old reality TV star has apologised to Sophie Hall, who was a victim of an acid attack by Ferne’s ex Arthur Collins – the father of her five-year-old daughter Sunday – after a voice note appeared online of her calling Sophie “ugly”.
Ferne has now insisted she does not think Sophie is “ugly or stupid”, and claims the voice messages have been “manipulated; edited and taken entirely out of context”.
In a statement released on her Instagram account, she said: “I am aware that people will have a number of questions about the voice messages being put into the public domain and purportedly sent by me. I feel I have no choice but to address these (to the extent that I can as there are restrictions on me which I explain below).
“Most importantly I want to apologise to all the victims of Arthur Collins abhorrent actions in 2017 that they have to relive that night and the pain that followed because this matter is again in the public domain. In particular I want to apologise to Sophie Hall. I do not believe her to be ugly or stupid. She has been brave beyond belief.
“Arthur Collins’ crimes created genuine victims so I am not trying to portray myself as one.”
The former ‘TOWIE’ star admitted she is unable to “set the record straight at this stage” due to legal proceedings, but insisted she has said things that are “untrue” to protect her family “in the face of significant threats”.
She added: “I am unable to say much because there are important and significant legal proceedings that prevent me from setting the record straight at this stage. What I can say is that the voice messages that are being released are manipulated; edited and taken entirely out of context. Even so, I will have said things that are untrue and I did not believe – but I did so to protect my family and myself from serious harm and in the face of significant threats.”
Last weekend, Ferne insisted she is the subject of a “harassment campaign designed to intimidate and discredit” her.
A spokesperson for Ferne said: “These voice messages are part of a wider harassment campaign designed to intimidate and discredit Ferne.
“They are subject to an ongoing investigation being carried out by Essex Police.
“As such, Ferne is unable to comment other than to say she offers her deepest sympathies for the distress and hurt this situation is causing Ms Hall.”
Sophie has called for Ferne’s ITVBe reality show ‘First Time Mum’ – filming for which has currently been paused – to be axed.
She previously said: “Why should anyone who has been so cruel be given the platform to tear others down?
“ITV don’t just need to take action for my sake, but for other leaked voice notes.
“The ones which were body shaming and so unkind.
Ferne herself has said before that she struggles with her own appearance. So to be commenting on how someone else looks — regardless if it was never meant to be heard — is wrong.
“My friends and family are as horrified as I am. They have been incredibly supportive.
“I would ask Ferne, ‘What have I ever done to you? Why are you targeting me, when all I’ve been trying to do is make a positive out of a terrible and traumatic experience that I sincerely hope no one ever has to go through in their lifetime?’.”
Collins is currently serving 20 years in prison for an acid attack at a nightclub in London in April 2017.

Antoine Fuqua defends Emancipation release after Will Smith slap

OHMYGOSSIP — Antoine Fuqua has defended the decision to release ‘Emancipation’ in the wake of Will Smith’s Oscars slap.
The 56-year-old filmmaker has helmed the historical thriller that stars Will as an enslaved man called Peter that is set for release in cinemas and on Apple TV+ next month.
It marks Smith’s first major project since slapping comedian Chris Rock at the Academy Awards earlier this year after he had joked about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and Fuqua says the theme of slavery is more important than the controversy.
He told Vanity Fair: “Of course I wanted people to see the film. My conversation was always, ‘Isn’t 400 years of slavery, of brutality, more important than one bad moment?’
“We were in Hollywood, and there’s been some really ugly things that have taken place, and we’ve seen a lot of people get awards that have done some really nasty things.”
Antoine added: “So, I think Apple considered all those things, and we discussed a lot of those things. Then, a decision was made by the people in charge of distribution and the money at Apple – and I’m grateful. I’m really grateful.”
The ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ director revealed that Will’s slap took him by surprise as he “hasn’t met a nicer human being”.
Antoine said: “(The slap) didn’t feel real to me at all because I was with Will for two years, and I haven’t met a nicer human being. I’m being honest about it. He was kind to everyone on the set.
“So, I saw a different person than that one moment in time, and so my reaction was that particular moment is very foreign to me when it comes to Will Smith.
“I have nothing but amazing things to say about Will Smith, really genuinely. You can ask anybody that worked on the movie, they’ll tell you the same. Nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.”

Glenn Close and Kyle Chandler join Back In Action

OHMYGOSSIP — Glenn Close and Kyle Chandler are to star in ‘Back In Action’.
The pair are set to join Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz in the Netflix action-comedy that is being directed by Seth Gordon from a script he wrote with Brendan O’Brien.
The storyline is being kept under wraps but the project drew headlines when it was announced this summer as it marked Cameron’s return to acting after an eight-year hiatus.
Beau Bauman is producing for Good One Productions along with Gordon for Exhibit A and Jenno Topping and Peter Chernin for Chernin Entertainment.
Foxx confirmed that his co-star would be returning to acting by sharing the audio from a phone call he had with Diaz.
The 50-year-old star wrote on her Instagram Stories: “Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!! I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!”
Jamie – who has worked with Cameron on the movies ‘Any Given Sunday’ and ‘Annie’ – brought in NFL legend Tom Brady to give the actress some tips on how to “un-retire” after he backtracked on his decision to quit American football earlier this year.
The ‘Baby Driver’ actor tweeted: “Cameron I hope you aren’t mad I recorded this, but no turning back now. Had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT. @CameronDiaz and I are BACK IN ACTION – our new movie with @NetflixFilm. Production starting later this year!! (sic)”
Cameron became a household name after featuring opposite Jim Carrey in the 1994 movie ‘The Mask’ and has since starred in films such as ‘Shrek’, ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and ‘Bad Teacher’.

Martin Kemp: EastEnders killed me off after ITV confession

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Kemp claims ‘EastEnders’ bosses killed his character off after he told them he had landed a contract with ITV.
The 61-year-old singer and actor played Steve Owen on the BBC One soap from 1998 to 2002, before going on to star in ITV drama ‘Serious and Organised’, and the star says he was told at one point that the door would be left open on a potential return to the show, but when he opened his final scripts he realised his character was being blown up.
He said: “I’ll tell you what happened was, I went in one day and I said, ‘I’m leaving, my time is done, I’ve done everything I can do.’ So, I went upstairs, spoke to the boss, I said, ‘I’ve got to go. My time’s up,’ I knew it was … it’s the sort of show you realise your time is up when you’re going round doing the same story but in a different suit.
“So, you’ve said those lines before, and I thought, my time’s up, I’ve got to go. So, I went upstairs, and I told them, and the producer said to me, ‘Listen, you’ve been a big character, you can come back on to the show any time, we’ll never kill you off, we want your character to be alive in case we want you to come back.’
“So anyway, I walk out, and I go back in a few weeks later, they called me upstairs, they said, ‘Martin, what are you going to do when you leave ‘EastEnders’, where are you going next?’ I said, ‘Well actually, I got a contract with ITV.’ So, I go back in a month later – killed me off. I opened the script, and I look at it: ‘Steve Owen gets blown up.’ ”
Before joining the soap, Martin had two brain tumours removed, and he credits the show with helping him to “recover” from that tough time.
He told Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett’s weekly podcast ‘Dish’: “When ‘EastEnders’ was offered to me, it was like, everybody around me was saying, ‘Don’t do it, don’t do it. It’s going to ruin your career, don’t do it.’ Well because they hadn’t had any name actors in that show before, right
“Everybody had grown up with ‘EastEnders’, so I was kind of the first one of those name actors to go in. But when it was offered to me, it was only really about five years after I had gone through the whole brain tumour business, that I went through in the 90s, about ’95, and so for me, I was struggling to get myself together, you know, and my brain wasn’t working properly still from the operation, you know.
“To the point where sometimes if I wanted to walk left, I would walk right, or like I couldn’t think about putting things in order, or anything like that. Learning lines was just way out there.
“When ‘EastEnders’ was offered to me it was a chance for me to get over it, so it wasn’t just me taking ‘EastEnders’ on because I thought it was a good gig – it was me trying to get my life back together.
“I honestly didn’t even know if I could remember the lines because my brain was so messed up from it, you know. So, when I look back at ‘EastEnders’, it’s more than just, yeah, it was a good job. It was the thing that helped me recover, more than anything else. Yeah, it moved me forward and left that whole nightmare behind.”
‘Dish’, hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, is available on all podcast providers now.

EastEnders’ Kellie Bright sheds ‘a lot of tears’ over Danny Dyer’s exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Kellie Bright has shed “a lot of tears” over Danny Dyer’s ‘EastEnders’ exit.
The 46-year-old star, who portrays Linda Carter in the BBC One soap, admits the actor’s departure from the show – in which he has played Mick Carter since 2013 – feels like “the end” for Mick and Linda.
She said: “There were a lot of tears on and off screen from me, but I have spoke to him nearly every day – the reality is, he’s still my friend and still going to be in my life. It’s the end of a chapter.
“I’m not very good at saying goodbye at the best of times and everything about that job has been me and him it did feel like the end.”
Kellie teased Danny’s exit is part of the soap’s festive storylines this year, when the love triangle between Mick, Linda and Mick’s fiancée Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) leads to the Queen Vic landlord’s exit.
She added to OK!: “I can tell you that it incorporates Danny’s exit from the show, I can tell you that it’s a combination of Mick, Janine and Linda triangle.”
Earlier this year, Danny admitted the door was being left open for him to return to the show.
Speaking in January, he said: “Let me tell you something – Mick’s exit is going to be a very, very powerful thing. I would love the door to be left open, and as far as I know it is.
“So who knows. When I go out there and I fail miserably I can come back with my tail between my legs and go, ‘Will you take me back?’
“But I just want to send out some love to everyone at ‘EastEnders’. I love you all very much.
“It’ll be a sad year for me, but I’m also very excited about it. So we’re going to attack this year, and we’re going to make this year a f****** special one.”

Love Island’s Jacques O’Neill: I still have feelings for Paige

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ star Jacques O’Neill still has feelings for ex Paige Thorne.
The reality star, 23, originally coupled up with the 24-year old Welsh paramedic on the ITV2 dating show, before leaving the island early because he was not feeling himself.
Paige then recoupled with villa newcomer Adam Collard – in his second stint on the programme – and the pair finished the series as boyfriend and girlfriend, but they have since gone their separate ways.
Jacques has now told OK!: “I have no bad blood about her at all and she has nothing against me. Whatever happened happened, it was on a show and it’s been done.
“Whenever I see Paige I am going to speak to the girl. I’ve got nothing against her. She’s a lovely girl and I’m always gonna care for her. It’s as simple as that.
“Once you have feelings for someone it doesn’t just go, you’re always going to care for them no matter what, so that’s how I see Paige right now.”
The rugby league player also touched on Paige’s breakup with Adam, which came amid cheating allegations, which Adam has denied.
He said: “She’s getting a lot of hate and bad press, but if we’ve got each other to look out for each other why would we not, because we’re actually good people. So it’s just normal to be nice to each other.
“She’s been done over badly by you know someone, so I’m going to have her back when she’s been treated badly by a bloke like that.”
In October, Paige admitted she’s had a “really s*** time” since splitting from Adam.
She said at the time: “I’m single – living my best life. No I’m kidding, it’s been a really s*** time.”
But in November, Adam spoke out about his split from Paige for the first time, and denied cheating on her.
The pair broke up shortly after a video of him putting his arm around a woman in McDonald’s went viral, and he called out the “misinformation” that has been spread following the incident.
