Leslie Odom Jr. pitched character ideas on Glass Onion set

OHMYGOSSIP — Leslie Odom Jr. pitched character ideas to director Rian Johnson for ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’.
The 41-year-old actor stars in the murder mystery sequel as scientist Lionel Toussaint and explained how he brought “thoughts to the table” regarding his alter ego while on set.
Leslie told IndieWire: “I didn’t want to overstep or bombard Rian with silly ideas of my own, but I did want to bring some thoughts to the table about what I might be able to bring to Lionel that could be worthy of holding the frame.”
The ‘One Night in Miami…’ actor praised the filmmaker for the “respect” he showed to members of the cast – which also includes Daniel Craig and Kate Hudson.
He said: “That’s one of the things that I loved so much about the first film, that I could feel his respect for his cast, I could feel his respect for the people he assembled. Whenever possible, he would hold as many of them in the frame as he could. He wanted to tell as many of those stories simultaneously as possible, so you’ve got this really layered experience as an audience member.”
Odom revealed that he was a big fan of the original ‘Knives Out’ film and was thrilled to get a part in the sequel – which will begin a one-week theatrical release on Wednesday (23.11.22) before launching on Netflix next month.
The star recalled: “I just loved it.
“It was one of those films that, every fifth person you talked to is like, ‘Have you seen this film?’ We watched it again with our families, streamed it again at home.
“It’s the kind of movie that I thought to myself, ‘Man, I hope that one day a spot could be made for me in an ensemble like that.’ It looked like so much fun.”

Simu Liu slams Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese for Marvel criticism

OHMYGOSSIP — Simu Liu has hit back at Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese for their criticism of Marvel movies.
The 33-year-old actor starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ and has defended the studio amid critiques from the iconic directors.
Tarantino recently bemoaned the “Marvel-isation of Hollywood” while Scorsese famously said that the superhero blockbusters were “not cinema” in 2019.
In response, Simu tweeted: “If the only gatekeepers to movie stardom came from Tarantino and Scorsese, I would never have had the opportunity to lead a $400 million plus movie.
“I am in awe of their filmmaking genius. They are transcendent auteurs. But they don’t get to point their nose at me or anyone.”
‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ was the first MCU flick with a predominantly Asian cast and Simu praised the studio for its diverse storytelling.
The ‘Barbie’ actor wrote: “No movie studio is or ever will be perfect. But I’m proud to work with one that has made sustained efforts to improve diversity onscreen by creating heroes that empower and inspire people of all communities everywhere.
“I loved the ‘Golden Age’ too… but it was white as hell.”
Simu explained that he wanted to change direction after featuring in ‘Shang-Chi’ and took parts in ‘Barbie’ and the romantic film ‘One True Loves’ to avoid being typecast.
He said: “To quote Monty Python, ‘And now for something completely different!’
“Coming off an action film/martial arts spectacle like ‘Shang-Chi’, I knew that much of the world was going to expect me to do more kung-fu films.”
Liu continued: “It’s always been important to me to constantly challenge people’s perceptions of myself, as well as of Asian people as a whole.
“While I celebrate legendary actors such as Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Bruce Lee, I know that my path is very different. I am not a master of kung-fu, after all; I am an actor who trained very hard to embody the character that I was hired to play.”

Tyler West eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyler West has been eliminated from ‘Strictly Come Dancing.’
The 26-year-old television presenter was taking part in the BBC Latin and ballroom competition alongside professional partner Dianne Buswell but became the eighth famous face to be axed from the show on Sunday (20.11.22) after competing against ‘Nova Jones’ actress Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu in the dance-off.
Following his eviction, he told presenter Tess Daly: “I’m more than a two step now! When you watch the show at home, you wonder what it must be like to dance on it, it’s everything and more, it’s changed my life. This girl here, has changed my life for sure. To think I was some shy kid
who never used to talk to anyone, to dancing in front of millions, I can’t put it into words.”
The Kiss FM host – who scored a total of 35 during Saturday’s main show for his Salsa to a mashup of ‘That’s the Way (I Like It)’/”‘(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty’/’Get Down Tonight’ – went on to add that he had brought his mum to see the special show from the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and explained that his life has been changed “forever” by taking part.
He added: “It’s my mum’s favourite show, I brought her to Blackpool, my nan bless her was always watching over me on
this journey. But more importantly, this show has changed my life in the sense it’s given me confidence, a new found family, every dancer, everyone in hair and make-up, costume. The judges, it’s been amazing to dance in front of you every week, I genuinely mean that. But this girl here, I have been blessed with the best, she is what Strictly is about and she’s changed my life, I have no doubt she will be in in my life forever.”
Head Judge Shirley Ballas – who along with Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood opted to save Molly and Carlos while Anton DuBeke voted to keep Tyler and Dianne in the competition – admitted that it was one of the most “difficult” decisions she had ever faced on the programme,
She said: ““Well, I agree with my fellow judges, this is probably one of the most difficult dance off’s that we’ve ever had to choose. Both couples were outstanding, both improved their performances but I am going to go with what I believe in, and that is a quality of movement and precision in partnering, and I am going to go with Molly and Carlos.”
Tyler and Dianne will be joining Rylan and Janette Manrara for their first exclusive televised interview live on ‘Strictly It Takes Two’ on Monday 21 st November at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
The remaining seven couples will take to the dancefloor next week when ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns on Saturday 26 November at 7.15pm, with the results show on Sunday 27 November at 6pm on BBC One.

Scarlette Douglas bursts into tears after being voted off ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlette Douglas has been voted off ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’
The 35-year-old presenter had been taking part in the ITV1 reality survival show but on Sunday’s (20.11.22) episode, the public decided that she would become the second famous face to leave the Australian Jungle following the eviction of ‘Loose Women’ anchor Charlene White and was seen tearfully hugging her campmates as she said her goodbyes.
Following the announcement made by Ant and Dec, she said: “I’m absolutely gutted. I’m not even gonna lie about it but I wanted to stay as long as possible. Those people are amazing and the jungle is incredible!”
Reflecting on her jungle journey over a glass of champagne, the former ‘A Place in the Sun’ host – who got to enjoy a VIP experience alongside Boy George upon entering the jungle and later took on the role of camp chef – explained that she is a “team player” and she would like ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’ star Babatúndé Aléshé to be crowned King of the Jungle.
She said: “Other than BG’s snoring, [the VIP experience] was fantastic. I really enjoyed it and I felt like that was me straight in. I was a bit of a screamer! When you don’t know what was in there but then I thought ‘This is the first trial, you just need to get a grip’. There was a point when there was a spider in the RV and I was gone, I was screaming. But there was another one and I was helping Mike [Tindall] get it out!”
“I’m a team player and I love getting stuck in. My mum is Jamaican, obviously, and Charlene is a Jamaican mum as well we know what we’re doing, we’re just like ‘Stay out of my kitchen!’ It does get difficult, though – especially when people don’t really know how to cook! I miss them already. It’s so tough but me and Baba had a really brother/sister bond so he’s got to do it for the two of us now!”

Vernon Kay tips pal Mike Tindall for success on I’m A Celeb

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Tindall’s golfing pal, Vernon Kay, believes he has what it takes to win ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The ex-rugby player husband of Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, is currently Down Under competing in the jungle reality show, and Vernon – who came third on the 2020 series, which took place at a castle in Wales due to COVID-19 – believes Mike, 44, has the “perfect character” to go far in the programme.
He told OK.co.uk: “I love Mike Tindall, he’s a good friend of mine. We play a lot of golf together.
“I think he’s got the perfect personality, the perfect character to be successful on I’m a Celebrity because he’s a man’s man. He listens, he has his own opinions, but he likes to debate. He and Zara are absolutely brilliant. I think he’s a top bloke.”
The 48-year-old TV star insisted it’s vital to be yourself and enjoy the experience to stand a chance of being crowned King or Queen of the Jungle.
He added: “All you’ve got to do is be yourself.
“If you go there trying to have a personality that isn’t naturally yours, if you go there thinking ‘I’m going to win this’, then your experience isn’t going to be as joyful as someone who just goes in there and says, ‘You know what, it’s me versus the jungle, I’m going to get on with everyone and be myself and have a really, really good time. I’m going to get covered in gunk, I’m going to meet a lot of creepy-crawlies and I’m going to eat part of an animal that I would never in a million years dream of putting in my mouth. If you just enjoy the experience, you’ve got a great chance.”
On last night’s episode of the ITV show, Mike and former Lioness Jill Scott earned 10 stars for camp with the latest gruesome Bushtucker Trial.
Blended cockroaches and vomit fruit were on the menu in The Speak Uneasy trial.
‘I’m A Celeb’ continues on ITV1 from 9.15pm tonight (21.11.22).

Jessica Hayes engaged

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Hayes has got engaged.
The former ‘Love Island’ star – who won the first revamped series of the show with Max Morley in 2015 – was stunned when her property developer partner, who is known only as Zeb, popped the question last month while they were on a surprise trip to Ibiza.
She said: “We’d only been together for a year so I wasn’t expecting it. It was a massive surprise.
“We went there on a private jet which was just crazy!
“I asked him to get some videos of me for Instagram so I was just there posing away on the edge of a cliff, and then I turned around and he got down on one knee! I was like, ‘Oh my God, are you joking? Are you pranking me? Is this a real ring?’
“I didn’t get emotional at all and then about three days later I started crying when it sank in.”
The couple, who moved in together in September, met through friends at a time when the 29-year-old beauty wasn’t looking for love as she was still struggling in the aftermath of having a late miscarriage and losing her son Teddy in November 2020 and splitting from fiance Dan Lawry – the father of her three-year-old son Presley – six months later.
Jessica told OK! magazine: “I’d had a really tough year and when I look back I was at breaking point and struggling so bad with everything.
“I was really at rock bottom and I wasn’t ready to meet someone as I was healing from what had happened.
“Then Zeb just came along and really saved me in so many ways. As soon as I saw him I was obsessed and we were just inseparable from then on. I just knew he was for me.
“When things are going wrong, it’s hard to pick yourself up and picture anything else, but I 100% believe that even the bad things you go through in life are things falling apart so better things can come together.
“I wouldn’t have expected everything to be so good now and I’m so happy. When you’re in something you don’t always realise how bad and toxic things are until you’re in a normal, happy relationship.”
While the couple have only been engaged for a month, Jessica wants them to marry “soon” and has big plans for their nuptials as she wants “three weddings with three dresses”.
She said: “I’ve got in my head what I want to do at my dream place so I’m set on something now.
“It would be so much money but you’ve got to dream big, average is boring!
“I’m really excited, but I know these things get booked up so far in advance so it’s hard to get a spot. It’s also abroad and it’s hard as you want all your close family there, so I think I might have to have three weddings so I can celebrate with everyone.
“Then I can have three dresses, too! The brand I love is Berta.”

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon launch production company

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are launching a new production company.
The ‘Good Will Hunting’ stars, along with Gerry Cardinale, have unveiled plans for Artists Equity, which will seek to create “entrepreneurial partnerships” with filmmakers and aims to empower creative vision and “broaden access to profit participation”.
RedBird Capital Partners are making “a significant financial commitment in launching the company” and will be “providing strategic capital and operational expertise to accelerate its development and production pipeline”, an announcement confirmed.
The two actors will lead the company and its first project will feature Ben as director and Matt as the star in a movie exploring the creation of the Air Jordan brand, which will be released in 2023, one of three projects planned for next year.
Ben, who will be Chief Executive Officer of Artists Equity, said: “Artists Equity was conceived from Matt’s and my longtime passion for the art of storytelling and our shared desire to help creators deliver on their vision, as we have been fortunate to do throughout our careers.
“The entertainment industry is defined by great partnerships – writers, directors, producers, crew, actors – and throughout my career I have learned that collaboration is what drives success. Our goal with Artists Equity is to build a creator-focused studio that can optimise the production process with shared participation in the commercial success of projects.
“We are thrilled to partner with Gerry Cardinale and the RedBird team, who have a long track record of building notable scaled platform businesses around unique IP. Matt and I are looking forward to working together to empower the current and future creative minds in the entertainment industry.”
And Matt, who will be Chief Content Officer, added: “Historically, the success of a film was based on its box office performance. Now, with the rise of streaming, the business behind filmmaking has intrinsically changed.
“However, Ben and I know that the power will continue to be in the hands of the creators, no matter which direction the industry evolves.
“Artists Equity enables these visionaries to take ownership of their creative power, providing a platform for both established and emerging filmmakers to streamline the development of their content. Ben and I are lucky to have worked with some of the best in the business, and our partnership with Gerry Cardinale and the team at RedBird continues us on that trajectory as we look to innovate and empower through the Artists Equity platform.”

Maggie Q to star in The Family Plan

OHMYGOSSIP — Maggie Q has been cast in ‘The Family Plan’.
The 43-year-old actress has boarded the cast of the action comedy along with Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby and Ciaran Hinds. Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan are also set to star.
The movie tells the story of a suburban father who takes his family on the run when his past catches up with him.
The flick has been written by David Coggeshall and Wahlberg is set to produce with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger.
Simon Cellan Jones is to direct the film after recently collaborating with Mark on the picture ‘Arthur the King’.
Meanwhile, Maggie has described Tom Cruise as the ideal movie star to work with.
The ‘Nikita’ actress collaborated with the Hollywood icon on the 2006 film ‘Mission: Impossible III’ and loved the experience of working with the actor.
Maggie said: “Tom is always trying to make everything better … Say what you will … I mean, people say what they want about everyone, but I know for me when I work it’s great if you like each other, it’s great if you develop a friendship out of a professional working environment, but at the end of the day you really just want to work with professionals who want to achieve the best work.
“If that’s what you want, there is no better person to work with than Tom Cruise. There’s no one on the planet who fights that hard, who’s always thinking, who cares as much as he does. There just isn’t. And who’s genuinely passionate about the product.”

Timothy Dalton: Daniel Craig was fantastic as James Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Timothy Dalton thinks the Daniel Craig era of the ‘James Bond series was “terrific.”
The 76-year-old actor starred as the 007 spy in the movies ‘The Living Daylights’ and ‘Licence to Kill’ but admitted that what the cast and crew with trying to do with his Bond films in the 1980s is what actually ended up happening in the late 2000s and up until the early 2020s when the leading role was assumed by Daniel Craig
He said: “Interestingly enough, we were trying to do what the Bond films have since become. They wanted it to be tougher, more real and move away from the silliness, but when it came down to actually doing it they didn’t want to take the risk of it not working. They were a bit of a mishmash what they did with the Daniel Craig ones was a terrific step!”
However, when it comes to deciding who should take on the spy role in the new James Bond movies, following Daniel’s departure with 2021 movie ‘No Time to Die’ after more than a decade in the part, Timothy remained tight-lipped because giving an answer would create “more trouble than it is worth.”
He told Reader’s Digest: “I’m staying out of that debate. It’s not my business and it would create far more trouble than it’s worth!”
Meanwhile, ‘The Crown’ star is set to play a “nasty” role in an upcoming project and explained that he has not always liked the characters he has played.
He said: “You don’t always have to like a character to play them. I’m doing something at the moment for [‘Yellowstone’ creator] Taylor Sheridan where it looks like I’m going to play a rather nasty character.”

Jayne Torville: Claustrophobia made me turn down The Masked Singer

OHMYGOSSIP — Jayne Torvill turned down an offer to appear on ‘The Masked Singer’.
The ‘Dancing On Ice’ star was presented with a pay day by producers to star on the next series of the hit ITV show, but she had to say no because she suffers from claustrophobia.
The contestants must wear elaborate disguises to hide their identities from the panel – which is comprised of Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross – and Jayne just wouldn’t have been able to cope underneath her costume.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column, she said: “I was asked to do ‘The Masked Singer’ this year, but I didn’t do it.
“I get really claustrophobic. Even when you’re no wearing the mask, you have wear something over your head.”
Jayne – who, along with her figure skating partner Christopher Dean, won the gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics – says there was other motivating factor that stopped her from going on the show, a lack of vocal ability!
She said: “And I can’t sing!”
The fourth season of ‘The Masked Singer’ – which is hosted by comedian Joel Dommett – will hit screens in January 2023.

Martin Kemp reveals secret childhood crush on Linda Robson

OHMYGOSSIP — Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp had a secret crush on Linda Robson when he was growing up.
The 61-year-old bassist and his brother and bandmate Gary Kemp, 63, grew up with the ‘Loose Women’ panellist on the same street in Islington, North London, and Martin and Linda also both attended the Anna Scher Theatre School in the UK capital.
Martin – who also is an actor and starred as villain Steve Owen in ‘EastEnders’ – has now confessed he was “madly in love” with Linda just like every other boy knew her.
Speaking at an evening celebrating Linda’s 50 years in showbusiness, Martin said: “We remember Linda as this beautiful little girl. I was madly in love with Linda, as was every other little boy.”
Linda was more than a little surprised to learn that a future rock star had the hots for her, and admitted she wished he’d have told her because she’d have happily agreed to have gone out with him.
She said: “It’s lovely! We all grew up on the same street, with Martin and Gary, so if only he’d told me at the time, we could have done something about it. He left it too late!”
Martin has been married to former Wham! backing singer Shirlie Holliman since 1988 and they have two children, daughter Harley Moon and son Roman, who is the breakfast show DJ on Capital FM.
Mother-of-three Linda has been with second husband Mark since 1990.

Charlie Lawson: Coronation Street could be axed due to streaming TV

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Lawson says ‘Coronation Street’ could be axed in the future because of streaming TV.
The 63-year-old actor has played Jim McDonald on the ITV soap across five separate stints, beginning with an 11-year run from 1989 until 2000.
Since the 1990s, when the show could attract up to 20 million viewers, the figures have steadily declined and Charlie insists that with the rise in popularity of streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Corrie’s days could be numbered, despite having been on TV for over 60 years.
Appearing on GB News, he said: “I was there in the ’90s for 11 years and we were getting between 16 and 20 million and five million is not a lot. In 10 years’ time who knows if we will have a ‘Coronation Street’ and an ‘EastEnders’ and an ‘Emmerdale’. We’re all changing our viewing habits as it is already.”
Charlie’s last return to the cobbles as Jim came in 2018, but he doesn’t expect to get a call from producers welcoming him back any time soon because Jim wouldn’t fit in with the programme’s new politically correct agenda.
He said: “It might be a difficult decision to bring Mr. Jim McDonald back because he wasn’t exactly politically correct, never mind woke!”
Jim’s long-suffering wife Liz McDonald – played by Beverly Callard – had to endure his alcoholism and domestic abuse, whilst he was later imprisoned for bank robbery and then came back and tried to con Liz out of money in a scam in which he pretended he’d found their long lost daughter Katie.
Although Liz is no longer living in Weatherfield, her and Jim’s son Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) is still a resident which would give a reason for the writers to being Jim back for a reunion with Steve.
Back in April, Charlie – who is from Northern Ireland – admitted he’d be up for a return to ‘Corrie’ if he could work with 65-year-old Beverley as Liz again.
He said: “I would love for the McDonalds to reunite. But I am not sure the writers would know what to do with Jim. He is an old beast from a different age.”

Joe Lycett shreds £10k over David Beckham’s controversial Qatar ambassadorship

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Lycett has shred £10,000 in a protest against David Beckham’s controversial £10 million Qatar ambassadorship deal.
The 34-year-old pansexual comedian offered to donate the cash to LGBTQ+ charities, if Beckham withdrew from the multi-million World Cup deal with the conservative Muslim Middle Eastern country where being homosexual is a criminal offence.
But after the former England captain failed to get into contact with Joe, the deadline the comic set passed and he tossed the significant sum of cash into a wood chipper, making good on his promise.
In a video, which was posted on website BendersLikeBeckham.com on Sunday (20.11.22), Lycett can be seen wearing a rainbow coloured ruffled top, tossing two bundles of cash before curtseying in front of the camera and walking away.
Last week, the stand-up star – known for his publicity stunts – addressed Beckham directly in a public video and gave him an ultimatum, warning the football legend that Beckham’s “status as a gay icon will be shredded” alongside the cash.
However the 47-year-old sports icon didn’t issue a response, despite Lycett contacting Beck’s PR team three days before the shredding in which he asked: “Could you let me know if there’s any chance he might budge on his position, or am I to expect radio silence on this?.
“There’s still time for David and his team to do the right thing”.
The controversial decision by FIFA to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar has been met with much criticism due to its poor human rights record and anti-LGBTQ+ ideology.
Engagement in same sex relationships is still considered a capital offence and punishable by up to seven years in prison and even death.
Beckham was widely condemned by the public over his role as ambassador for the Arab nation.

Strictly’s Fleur East fulfils psychic’s prophecy with perfect 40 score

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Fleur East has fulfilled a psychic’s prophecy by making her late dad proud.
The ‘Uptown Funk’ singer left the judges speechless with her dazzling performance to a Destiny’s Child mega mix alongside her professional partner Vito Coppola on Saturday night (19.11.22).
After scoring four 10s from Craig Revel Horwood, Dame Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse, they became the first ‘Strictly’ couple of 2022 to achieve a perfect 40 for their couple’s choice routine in Blackpool.
It was a major moment for the former ‘X Factor’ star, who previously dedicated a performance to her late dad Malcom – who passed away in 2020.
Moments before taking the floor, Fleur shared a heartfelt video to her fans where she vowed to make her father proud.
She said: “If my dad was here and he knew I was performing in Blackpool, he would burst with Pride.
“He was my biggest fan. Everything I’m doing, I’m doing for him and to make him proud.”
Fleur burst into tears after receiving top 10 from all judges, with Craig stating his classic catchphrase “fab-u-lous” and Shirley describing it as an “iconic routine that will go down in history”.
Fleur previously revealed how she visited a medium who said her dead dad gave her messages of encouragement from beyond the grave ahead of the show.
Opening up on Hits Radio Breakfast Show ahead of her ‘Strictly’ debut, she said: “On Sunday I had a message from one of my cousins who had been to see a medium – people that speak to the spirit world.
“I’ve never gone to a medium because I do believe in it and I’m quite scared about going because I never wanted to test it. But my cousin went and this happened.
“So my dad passed away in 2020, his name was Malcolm and apparently he came through and wished me good luck ahead of ‘Strictly’.”
