Amanda Abbington’s Wolfe cancelled

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Wolfe’, which stars Amanda Abbington, has been axed.
The Sky Max crime drama – in which Amanda played forensic scientist Dot alongside Babou Ceesay’s pathologist alter ego Professor Wolfe Kinteh – will not be back for a second season, despite last year’s six-part debut proving to be a ratings success.
The reason why there will not be more episodes is because ‘Guerrilla’ actor Babou has reportedly “declined the opportunity to film more”.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Ceesay declined the opportunity to film more episodes, despite series one proving both a ratings and critical success.
“As the show’s titular star, it was felt the series couldn’t proceed without him.”
‘Wolfe’ was written by a team led by ‘Shameless’ creator Paul Abbott and the cast also contained Natalia Tena, Naomi Yang, Adam Long and Shaniqua Okwok.
The show followed Professor Wolfe Kinteh, who is recognised as the finest crime scene investigator in Northern England. A genius when it comes to piecing together evidence, but prone to being a liability.
Wolfe was joined by a team that includes child prodigy Maggy (Yang), middle-aged single mother Dot (Abbington), entomologist Steve (Long) and new recruit Dominique (Okwok).
Adrian Shergold and Sean Spencer directed the series with Emma Burge producing.

Gimme Gimme Gimme star James Dreyfus says social media is bad for acting

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’ star James Dreyfus says social media is destroying the acting business.
The 52-year-old comedic actor – most famous for playing aspiring actor Tom Farrell in the BBC sitcom opposite Kathy Burke – trained at London drama school RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art), the institution that launched the careers of the late Sir Roger Moore, Sally Hawkins, Glenda Jackson, Ben Whishaw, Tom Hiddleston among many more.
Dreyfus insists when he attended it was an “anarchic” school where performers were encouraged to try anything, but now he believes the institution has been overrun by social media-obsessed snowflakes, and this is producing less exciting and talented actors.
He told the My Time Capsule podcast: “RADA was everything I expected it to be, it was anarchic, it was rough and you could do anything in rehearsals. And now with the sensitivity being taught, I couldn’t stand it, I wouldn’t go. It’s changed so much.”
Dreyfus, whose TV break came in 1990s sitcom ‘Absolutely Fabulous’, is also dismayed by the trend for auditions conducted over Zoom and castings being made based on how many social media followers an actor has.
‘The Thin Blue Line’ star – who has almost 75,000 followers on Twitter – says the industry needs to get back to where it was before modern society’s obsession with technology.
He added: “Auditions — I have never in my life got a job from a cell phone. Never. And I always think, I’m spending an hour doing this, I’m getting a little bit tired.
“I know when I’m walking into a room whether I’m nervous and it’s showing, or whether I’m confident and it’s not. But you cannot do anything extraordinary on a Zoom call. I don’t understand it.
“We have moved into a sort of authoritarian and divided world. it’s all to do with the failed social media experiment. If you put a computer in every child’s hand what do you think is going to happen? Do you know the employees who work at Apple, not one of them give their children the phone until they’re 16. Why? Because they know.”

Rian Johnson frustrated by assumptions about Star Wars

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson is frustrated that people assume he had a bad experience on ‘Star Wars’.
The 48-year-old director divided fans of the sci-fi franchise with his 2017 movie ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ but insists that he thoroughly enjoyed working on the project despite suggestions otherwise.
Rian told The New Yorker magazine: “Oh, f*** yeah. In terms of that, I love ‘Star Wars’ even more now. I think what actually frustrates me is people’s perception that I had a negative experience somehow, or people’s perception that it was somehow a traumatic experience, or something.
“The reality is that it was a completely joyful experience even through the back end of it, the past few years, the reception of it. No.
“And, when I read what those people were actually saying, I was, like, ‘Oh, I completely disagree with this.’ They’re wrong.”
Rian pointed out that ‘Star Wars’ fans often debate various topics about the series and is glad that his film stirred up so much conversation.
The ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ director said: “Everybody can like whatever they want and not like what they want. And ‘Star Wars’ fans, in particular – growing up as one, arguing about other people’s opinions being wrong is sort of the bread and butter of it all.
“I didn’t feel crushed. Like, ‘Oh, no, I didn’t make a real ‘Star Wars’ movie.’ I felt, like, ‘No, I did.'”
Rian had previously described the backlash to his film as “very painful” and said he struggled to deal with the criticism at first.
He said: “It’s been a process. At the beginning, it was not easy. It was incredibly painful.”

Harrison Ford wanted Indiana Jones closure

OHMYGOSSIP — Harrison Ford wanted to close the book on ‘Indiana Jones’.
The 80-year-old actor will play the legendary archaeologist for the last time in ‘Indiana Jones 5’ and is grateful for the chance to bring the character’s story to an end.
Asked why he return as Indy for a fifth movie, Harrison told Empire magazine: “I just thought it would be nice to see one where Indiana Jones was at the end of his journey.
“If a script came along that I felt gave me a way to extend the character.”
The movie’s director James Mangold made sure Indy’s age was referenced in the plot and even made changes to the script to address the theme.
The filmmaker explained: “It became really important to me to figure out how to make this movie about a hero at sunset… The issues I brought up about Indy’s age were not things I thought were being addressed in the material being developed at the time. There were ‘old’ jokes, but the material itself wasn’t about it.
“To me, whatever your greatest liability, you should fly straight towards that. If you try to pretend it’s not there, you end up getting slings and arrows the whole way.”
It has been speculated that Phoebe Waller-Bridge could replace Harrison as the character as she will feature in the new movie as Indy’s goddaughter Helena.
Film chiefs have shot a series of possible endings for the movie – including the death of the lead character – although Mangold has denied claims that this will happen.
The director – who takes over from Steven Spielberg behind the camera on the upcoming film – tweeted: “No one will ever replace Indiana Jones. Not in any script. Not in any cut. Never discussed.”

Boy George came out after children called him a ‘girl’ growing up

OHMYGOSSIP — Boy George came out after children called him a “girl” growing up.
The Culture Club singer, 61, told his ‘I’m A Celebrity’ campmates on Monday night’s episode (21.11.22) his realisation he was gay was “gradual”, but said he dressed as a nun on a night out during his “outrageous” teens – and bumped into a group of real nuns on the London Underground while in his costume.
George added: “I find it’s more other people ask about it, I’m busy being myself. They often ask, ‘When did you know you were gay?’ It was kind of gradual I think. For me it was other kids calling me a girl… ‘You’re a girl’.”
George added in the Bush Telegraph said: “I have no problem with people asking me when did I know I was gay because I can’t answer it. It’s such a weird question. The difference is that when you’re a gay kid or trans or whatever, no-one really prepares for your arrival.”
And he said at the creek: “I knew if I announced it I’d be immediately unpopular in the playground, but inside of me, I absolutely thought it was totally normal and this is what’s meant to be.”
George also said David Bowie helped him be himself, adding: “I think, for me, Bowie was the beginning of me going, ‘Oh my god, I’m not alone.’ It didn’t matter whether he was gay, straight or bisexual, he was a massive role model.
“When I was 16/17 I was outrageous… this one time I went out as a nun. When we got on the Tube there were real nuns on the tTube. I was sitting eating a packet of cheese and onion crisps, dressed as a nun with the most amazing make-up. They knew I wasn’t a nun!”
Meanwhile, Owen Warner, 23, took on the ‘Boiling Point: The Return’ trial.
Explaining the rules for actor Owen, host Ant McPartlin said: “have to enter the boiler room and retrieve the set of four spanners. You’re going to use those spanners to find nine stars that are hidden within the boiler room and the underground network of pipes.
“Now, once you get a star, pop it in your star bag, this is important, only stars in the star bag at the end of time will count.”
Entering a room with two pythons in it, Owen said: “I didn’t even see that!”
When he reached another area with more snakes Owen said: “Oh hello! Oh my days…oh stay away from me.”
He unscrewed the stars and finished the Trial with all nine stars and time to spare.
Owen told Ant and co-host Declan Donnelly: “Nice one! It was alright you know. The size of that snake! The girth on it, jeez.”
Returning to camp triumphant, he yelled: “We eating good tonight!”
In the Bush Telegraph Owen said: “I’m going to miss a lot of things about this jungle experience but walking back with good news to a group of hungry people – it’s the best feeling ever.”

Sue Cleaver third ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ contestant to leave jungle

OHMYGOSSIP — Sue Cleaver is the third ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ contestant to leave the jungle.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress, 59, showed she was thrilled her time on the show was over when she was evicted on Monday night, (21.11.22) saying she was relieved she wouldn’t have to face any more trials and hated the feeling of not having control of her life.
She told hosts Ant and Dec: “You can stuff your trials where the sun don’t shine. I’ve absolutely had enough. It’s having absolutely no control over your whole life and that is weird.
“I had the ride of my life but I’m glad it ended there because you don’t want to see ‘Bad Sue’.”
Sue had faced criticism from viewers for only taking part in trials where all of the campmates were required to.
Presenter Scarlette Douglas, 35, was the second campmate to leave the jungle hours after ‘Loose Women’ anchor Charlene White, 42, was the first celebrity to be evicted from this year’s show.
Scarlette said she was the “underdog” in the series as this year’s famous faces include singer Boy George, telling The Sun: “I’ve always come in here as an underdog. I’ve got the least profile of anybody else, you know, not everybody knows who I am. Hopefully they do now!
“So I was never going to get the most votes. You know, even if you’re just looking at something like Instagram, I always have the least amount of followers.
“If I go by something like that. I’m not going to get all the votes. So for me, all I could have done in the jungle was do my best and hope that people liked me and hoped that people voted for me.
“But people aren’t voting for me to leave – they’re voting for who their favourites are and if I’m not their favourite there’s nothing I can do about that. I just have to be true to me.
“Be authentic and just enjoy the experience and when my time comes, my time comes wherever it is.”

The 59-year-old actress – who plays Eileen Grimshaw on the long-running soap – has spent the last two weeks living in the Australian jungle on the ITV reality show and her colleagues who also work on the cobbles are really getting into watching her alongside her fellow campmates Charlene White, Chris Moyles and Mike Tindall.

Colson said: “She really is a good influence for us in the Street and that’s what she’s doing in the jungle. We’re all rooting for her.”
Sue has been joined in the jungle by former health secretary Matt Hancock and she joked about the need to “plan a revolution” after quipping he spends “all day sleeping”.
She said: “It’s come to my attention he’s there all day sleeping.
I don’t think he’s showing leadership qualities. It’s not what the people need. I think we need to plan a revolution.”
“He just sits on his red chair, I’ve not heard him talk to any of his ministers about their role and how it’s going in the job so I don’t think that can carry on for very much longer. Watch this space.”

Louis Tomlinson: X Factor needs a longer rest

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson does not want to see an ‘X Factor’ reboot.
The ex-One Direction star – who shot to international fame on the ITV singing competition alongside his bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne in 2010 – thinks the Simon Cowell-created programme should stay away for a bit longer even though he is still a “massive fan” of the format.
The 30-year-old singer told the Metro newspaper’s Guilty Pleasures column: “Let me be completely honest about this – and, maybe, I shouldn’t – in my opinion, it needs a bit of a longer rest. I’m a massive fan. You see so many shows come back that we grew up with, and there is a real excitement.”
Louis explained his belief that the contest – which also launched the showbiz careers of Rylan Clark, Diana Vickers, Janet Devlin, Leona Lewis, Little Mix, Olly Murs, Lucy Spraggan, and many others during its run between 2004 and 2018 – hasn’t been off air for “long enough” but admitted that he might not know everything about the telly industry.
He said: “I just don’t think it has been away long enough. But who am I to say that?!”
Simon – who also has created the ‘Got Talent’ franchise which is in hundreds of countries all over the world – revealed that people are telling him how much they are “wanting” it to be revived.
The 62-year-old music mogul said: “The funny thing is that when young people approach me on the street, all they want to know is when X Factor is coming back. They all watch it on YouTube. When we stopped the show, I genuinely thought there was no need for it — that everyone would be signed from YouTube. But there are so many people wanting to be signed that we could use that extra platform.”
Louis – who is currently in a chart battle for No. 1 with music legend Bruce Springsteen for his second solo LP ‘Faith in the Future’ – shared about the emotional “weight” that provided inspiration for his first record ‘Walls’.
In 2020, He said: “There was a weight to it, emotionally, which was right for me at the time. But it’s not how I carry myself as a person.
“I was excited to go into this record and make exactly what I want, without worrying about what I “should” be doing… being brave enough to go, “Well, this is exactly who I am, take it or leave it.”

Chris Hemsworth hints at Thor farewell

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth has claimed that the next ‘Thor’ film will “probably be the finale” for his character.
The 39-year-old star has played the God of Thunder in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for over a decade but thinks the time has come to bid farewell to his alter ego.
Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine, Chris said: “I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it probably warrants that.
“I feel like it’d probably be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone’s told me or any sort of plans.
“You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don’t know – am I at that stage? Who knows?”
Chris revealed that he has no interest in working with “mad genius” directors.
The ‘Extraction’ star – who has India, ten, and eight-year-old twins Sasha and Tristan with his wife Elsa Pataky – explained: “I’m just at the point of my life where I’m meeting with different directors and (people say) ‘Oh yeah, look, he’s a mad genius. He’s mad, but he’s a genius and he’ll make great films.’
“I’m like, ‘Is that who I want to spend my days with?’ Four months, five months of shooting and then you’ve got press and possible reshoots and so on.”
Hemsworth continued: “Now, if something’s going to pull me away from my family and my kids, it’s got to be a positive, constructive, collaborative experience.
“I shot with George Miller on the new prequel to ‘Fury Road’ (‘Furiosa’), part of the ‘Mad Max’ saga, and I said to my agent, ‘That’s where I want to spend my work hours; with someone who is kind and collaborative and interesting.'”

Daniel Craig had to ‘move on’ from James Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Craig needed to “move on” from James Bond.
The 54-year-old actor bowed out as 007 after 15 years after being killed off in ‘No Time To Die’ and feels that his exit was necessary for both the spy franchise and his acting career.
Daniel told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “Two things, one for myself and one for the franchise.
“One, for the franchise, was that reset starts again, which (the franchise) did with me. And I was like, ‘Well, you need to reset again’. So let’s kill my character off and go find another Bond and go find another story. Start at (age) 23, start at 25, start at 30.”
The ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ star continued: “The other was so that I could move on.
“I don’t want to go back. I suppose I should be lucky if they were to ask me back, but the fact is I need to move on from it. The sacrifice that he makes in the movie was for love and there’s no greater sacrifice. So it seemed like a good thing to end on… I’m very, very fortunate as an actor to have got to a stage in my career where I can now go, ‘You know what? I’m gonna pick and choose.'”
Daniel explained that he was frustrated at himself for referring to the physical demands of playing 007 instead of explaining the creative aspects of the spy series.
He said: “It’s my fault because I kind of didn’t shut up about the fact that I had all these injuries.
“I’m p***** off at myself that I ever spoke about them. I put way more work into the creative side of those movies than I did the physical side of those movies.”

I’m A Celebrity’s Matt Hancock branded a **** by BBC Radio 2 listener live on air

OHMYGOSSIP — A BBC Radio 2 listener branded Matt Hancock a “****” in a live call with DJ Sara Cox.
The caller, introduced as Jesse from Devon, called into Sara Cox’s All Request Friday drivetime show and blurted out the four-letter expletive about the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ contestant – who served as the UK’s Health Secretary during the coronavirus pandemic – as he asked for the song ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ by Queen.
Asked to introduce his song by Sara, the listener said: “We’re playing ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ by Queen because Matt Hancock’s a ****.”
The shocked 47-year-old broadcaster stepped in and apologised to listeners for the foul language.
Sara said: “OK, so we’ve got cut him off there. This is live radio this kind of thing happens. I can only apologise if you’ve got children listening. I’m going to play the tune. Huge apologies, it is live and here’s the song.”
Hancock’s appearance on the ITV reality show has caused controversy and a banner was recently flown above the set in Australia imploring the Conservative MP to “get out” of the jungle.
Campaign group 38 Degrees have claimed responsibility for the message, which read “Covid Bereaved say get out of here”, on behalf of the group COVID-19 Bereaved Families for Justice UK.
Matthew McGregor, chief executive of 38 Degrees, said: “No-one has forgotten how Matt Hancock conducted himself during the Covid-19 pandemic: not the general public, not his campmates, and certainly not those who lost loved ones.
“Our message emblazoned across the skies makes crystal clear to Matt Hancock: you should be representing the people of West Suffolk and giving Covid Bereaved Families the answers they deserve, rather than playing games for dingo dollars, plastic stars and a [reported] £400,000 pay check.”
Hancock was suspended by the Conservative party earlier this month after it was announced that he would be appearing on the programme.
Adulterous Hancock was forced to resign as Health Secretary in June 2021 for breaking his own social distancing guidelines after he was caught kissing aide Gina Coladangelo, who is now his girlfriend.

Millie Gibson joins the cast of Doctor Who

OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Gibson will be the new companion on ‘Doctor Who’.
The 18-year-old actress – who is best known for playing Kelly Neelan in ‘Coronation Street’ – is set to star alongside Ncuti Gatwa on the BBC show.
Millie – who has landed the role of Ruby Sunday, the Doctor’s new companion – said: “Whilst still being in total disbelief, I am beyond honoured to be cast as the Doctor’s companion.
“It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have travelled in before me. And what better way to do that than being by the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa’s side, I just can’t wait to get started.”
Ncuti, 30, is similarly excited to work with Millie.
The actor – who was confirmed as the new Doctor in May – shared: “Millie just is the companion. She is full of talent, strength, she has a cheeky sparkle in her eye and is sharp as a razor.
“From the moment she walked into the room she captured all of our attention with her effervescence and then solidified that attention with the sheer torque of her talent. This adventure is going to be so wild and so fun, I cannot wait to sail the universe with Millie!”
Meanwhile, Russell T Davies – the ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner – watched Millie during her time on ‘Coronation Street’ and he’s confident that she’ll be a huge success on the sci-fi show.
He said: “It’s the great honour of my job to find the next generation of talent, and Millie shines like a star already. She’s brilliant, dynamic, clever and a wonderful actor.
“As a ‘Coronation Street’ fan, I’ve seen Millie survive chases, guns and sieges, but that’s nothing compared to what lies ahead for Ruby Sunday.”

Charlene White exits I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlene White has been voted off ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The 42-year-old broadcaster has become the first camp mate on this year’s series to be voted off the ITV show by members of the public.
After her fate was confirmed, Charlene said: “It’s been a journey and I absolutely loved living with those guys – they were brilliant.”
During her time in the jungle, Matt Hancock – the former health secretary – was questioned about his affair during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reflecting on the awkward conversation, Charlene said: “I have to remain impartial as journalism is my first job.”
Matt, 44, resigned as health secretary after news of the affair emerged, and it’s something that he’s been reminded of during his time in the jungle.
Earlier in the episode, Boy George admitted that he was struggling to look past Matt’s behaviour during the pandemic.
He said: “Can’t stand Matt. I have tried to like him and I’ve failed. I find him slimy, I find him slippery.”
The 61-year-old star also confronted Matt about his frustrations.
He told the politician: “I’ll be honest with you, I think your presence has made everyone very compliant.”
Matt then said: “Compliant, it’s a funny word.”
The pop star subsequently tried to clarify his feelings.
He explained: “I have been hating on you, I have to be honest. I sometimes feel like you don’t say what you mean and you’re not particularly direct.”
The ‘Karma Chameleon’ hitmaker admitted that he struggled to draw a distinction between Matt’s political past and the man that he’s met in the jungle.
He shared: “I’m trying to separate you as a human being and you as a politician and I’m struggling with it. We don’t share the same politics.”

Vince Vaughn was inspired to write Christmas with the Campbells by his wife

OHMYGOSSIP — Vince Vaughn was inspired to write ‘Christmas with the Campbells’ by his wife.
The 52-year-old has been married to Kyla Weber since 2010 and wrote the script to the upcoming Hallmark movie – which tells the story of a former couple played by Justin Long and Brittany Snow who end up spending Christmas together – along with Barbara Kymlicka and came up with the idea because his wife is a fan of the network.
He said: “I thought of it because my wife watches Hallmark and I’m a bit of a cynic sometimes. So I’m like, I get the wish of the girl leaving the six-figure job in New York to go with the mysterious woodsman, but it’s not without fear that something like this is something you can’t just jump into. But inevitably in watching it, you do kind of get caught up in the hope. I think there’s something with the holidays and Christmas, and romance in general, where we all want to believe that there’s a chance for this, against all the odds, for true love to show up, and so it’s why the movies really work.”
The ‘Four Christmases’ star went on to add that after he hired regular Hallmark writer Barbara, she insisted that she would change the language and strcuture of a movie normally seen on the network to be more adult-orientated.
He told Collider: “So the idea was to have a Hallmark writer. We hired a Hallmark writer who was terrific, and had written a bunch of Hallmark movies. We had her just write a Hallmark movie, not knowing what we were going to do with it. Barbara [Kymlicka]. She wrote a great script, and then once she completed it, we shared the idea with her. We said, “We’re going to go through and change the dialogue, commit the characters to being more adult and the language to be more R, stronger points of view, but we’re going to keep the scenes and the sequences the same’ and thankfully she was super excited and on board.”
‘Christmas with the Campbells’ is set to be released on December 2.

AJ Pritchard and Zara Zoffany split

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Pritchard and Zara Zoffany have split up.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro and the influencer are said to have called time on their romance, less than two months after they started dating.
The pair met while filming MTV show ‘The Challenge’ but a source claimed that Zara quickly grew “bored” of AJ, 28, and dumped him.
The source told The Sun newspaper: “AJ was totally smitten with Zara but as time went on she got bored of him.
“It was all very intense on ‘The Challenge’ and they fell for one another. But outside in the real world when they started dating it was all very different.
“Zara is really outgoing and she thought AJ had changed. She really wasn’t happy and ended it.”
The insider added: “AJ was hurt of course but it was for the best.”
Meanwhile, AJ’s former girlfriend, Abbie Quinnen, previously revealed he dumped her after she caught him texting another woman.
Abbie – who was left badly burned when a YouTube stunt went wrong in January 2021 – told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “I’m completely devastated and my world has fallen apart.
“AJ isn’t the person I thought he was. After everything I went through with him I thought we would be together for ever. He has been the biggest disappointment to me.”
Abbie insisted everything was normal until he flew out to South America for ‘The Challenge’.
She said: “AJ was nervous about going away to film as he wasn’t able to prepare for it as much as other ones he had done like ‘I’m A Celebrity’ and ‘Celebrity SAS’.
“Before he left we had a really emotional goodbye. We hugged for hours and shed tears.
“I knew we weren’t going to see each other for three weeks so I went on holiday with my family.
“At first we were FaceTiming every day, like normal, then he had the phone taken away from him to do the TV show….
“When he eventually got his phone back he seemed different. He wasn’t calling as much and seemed distracted.”
It was then Abbie noticed he was messaging someone else, who she wouldn’t name, and was horrified with his “cold” response when she called him out.
She continued: “Then I noticed he was on his phone quite a bit and that he was messaging a girl who had been on the show with him.
“I only caught a glimpse of the message but it was along the lines of, ‘I need to talk to you, can we meet tomorrow?’
“I thought we were madly in love and in the space of a few hours he was messaging someone else and my world was turned upside down.”
