Boy George is fourth campmate to be evicted from ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Boy George is the fourth campmate to be evicted from ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’
The Culture Club singer, 61, came in the bottom two on Tuesday night’s episode (22.11.22) of the show after the public cast their votes, along with 48-year-old DJ Chris Moyles.
After hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly broke the news, George promised his fellow competitors: “I’ll tell you what it’s like when it’s out.”
He added in his exit interview from the jungle: “I am sort of ready. I had an amazing time and I’ve done a lot of things I thought I’d never do. I’m excited to see my sister.
“I had to forget who I was the whole time I was in here, I had to let it go. I just had to get over it.
“I just had to say, ‘I’m in the jungle, I’ve had no control.’
“Being really honest, I am happy to go today. It’s not something I thought I would ever do but it’s a lot tougher than I thought.
“I think it really makes you appreciate what you have and the people that you love.”
It came after he told his campmates his success was shrugged off by his physically abusive dad.
The singer said his late father Jeremiah’s tactic was to try and keep him down to earth after he found fame.
When asked by Babatúndé Aleshe: “What was your dad’s reaction when you made it?”, George replied: “I was playing at the Albert Hall and it was kind of a big gig, it was kind of early on and my sister’s best friend’s husband said to my dad, ‘You must be really proud of him?’
“My dad goes, ‘Yeah, he does what he does and I do what I do.’”
George added in the Bush Telegraph: “I think that comment was about, ‘Don’t blow smoke up his a*** because it’s not good for him.’”
The singer, whose dad died in 2003, continued in the creek: “Or my mum used to say, ‘You never say you love me’ and he’d say, ‘I’m here aren’t I?’”
Babatúndé said: “This generation, all we do is tell our children that we love them.”
But George replied: “You should… my dad was a builder, owned his own firm. He was a gambler. He would take £10,000 and put it on a dog. Dad would say, ‘Don’t answer the door… the bailiffs, or the gas man was coming… .’”
Born George Alan O’Dowd at Barnehurst Hospital, Kent, on 14 June 1961, the singer’s parents are Irish couple Jeremiah and Dinah O’Dowd.
George, who has four brothers and one sister, grew up in Eltham, London, and his mum has spoken of the beatings she received at the hands of Jeremiah.
In 2017, he told ‘Piers Morgan’s Life Stories’: “My dad was quite an extreme man. (He) could lose his temper and chuck the entire Sunday dinner over and everybody went hungry.
“He hit us all the time, punched us, but everyone in the ’70s punched you. It happened a lot.
“He’d fly off the handle quite easily but he was also extremely charismatic and funny. He was a real contradiction and it wasn’t until I got to about 15 or 16 that I realised how strong my mum was.”
Tuesday’s ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ also saw Chris and Owen Warner taking on a ‘Deals on Wheels’ challenge.
They earned the dingo dollars and learned the treat up for grabs was an envelope with the England vs Iran World Cup score in it and chocolate brownies.
The campmates also got to visit the Jungle Arms bar.
But to win pub grub, including crisps and chips, they had to take part in a jungle-inspired game of beer pong.
Then they took it in turns on karaoke, with the group singing Culture Club’s ‘Karma Chameleon’.
‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ continues tomorrow (23.11.22) at 9pm on ITV1 and ITV Hub, Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player.

Matt Hancock ‘broke government rules’ by appearing on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Hancock has been ruled to have broken government regulations by not consulting the parliamentary anti-corruption watchdog before he appeared on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’
The body’s chairman made the ruling, with Lord Pickles – the Conservative chair of the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (Acoba) – telling Cabinet Office Minister Oliver Dowden of the breach by letter.
His ruling, reported by the Daily Mail on Tuesday night (22.11.22), means disciplinary action could be decided against Mr Hancock by the Cabinet Office.
But the publication added Lord Pickles said he believed further action towards former health secretary Mr Hancock would be “disproportionate”.
Under official rules, Mr Hancock should have got clearance from Acoba for any new employment or appointments he takes on within two years of leaving office.
Lord Pickles told Mr Dowden he was writing to “bring to your attention a breach of the government’s Business Appointment Rules”.
He added: “Mr Hancock did not seek Acoba’s advice before signing up to two television series, ITV’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ and Channel 4’s ‘SAS Who Dares Wins’.”
Mr Hancock claimed in a letter to Lord Pickles sent earlier this month he did not believe he needed to ask Acoba’s permission to appear on either show as the guidelines state “one-off media appearances such as these” do not count “as an appointment or employment”.
But Lord Pickles told Mr Hancock in a reply: “The rules are clear that an application is required where individuals plan a series of media activities and it is for Acoba to assess the associated risks.
“As such, failing to seek and await advice before these roles were announced or taken up in this case is a breach of the government’s rules and the requirements set out in the ministerial code.”
A spokesperson for Mr Hancock told the Daily Mail: “The Acoba website clearly states that it does not regard media appearances as an appointment or employment. The guidance on the website was followed in good faith.”
‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ continues tomorrow (23.11.22) at 9pm on ITV1 and ITV Hub, Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player.

Jonny Freeman joins EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonny Freeman has joined ‘EastEnders’.
The ‘Top Boy’ actor will play Reiss Colwell, who heads to Albert Square for the funeral of his great-aunt, Dot Branning, and he’ll quickly strike up a romance with Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy).
Jonny is “delighted” to be joining the show as “socially awkward” Reiss, and praised Natalie for her support as he’s settled in to work.
The ‘Silent Witness’ star said: ” I am delighted to be joining the cast of EastEnders, especially as part of the iconic Dot Branning’s extended family.
“Everybody has been so welcoming and I’m very lucky to have been working so closely with the lovely Natalie Cassidy who is not only a fantastic actress but a delightful person; she has very kindly helped me navigate my first few weeks.
“I hope I can do Reiss justice. He is kind but socially awkward and seeing how he manages, or doesn’t manage, his early exchanges with Sonia and her nearest and dearest has been quite interesting!
“I’m looking forward to seeing how both audiences and the residents of Walford respond to him.”
According to show bosses Reiss – whose grandfather’s brother was Dot’s father – always wanted to be closer to his extended family and upon hearing the news of the Walford legend’s passing, he feels “compelled” to attend her funeral, and quickly bonds with Sonia.
Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, said: Reiss Colwell is a somewhat studious, humble and dependable kind of guy and, like his great-aunt Dot, is incredibly kind hearted. Jonny is a wonderful addition to the EastEnders cast; it’s a joy to see him transform into Reiss when he puts on Reiss’ reading glasses and cardigan. And we’re all excited for Sonia to have a new squeeze in the Square – it’s been a while!”

Quentin Tarantino bemoans ‘Marvel-isation of Hollywood’

OHMYGOSSIP — Quentin Tarantino has slammed the “Marvel-isation of Hollywood”.
The ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ director lamented the fact there are “no real movie stars” any more and blamed the fact the “franchise characters” in superhero movies are what become celebrated, not the talent of the actors bringing them to life.
Speaking on the ‘2 Bears, 1 Cave’ podcast, he said: “Part of the Marvel-isation of Hollywood is… you have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters, but they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that. I think that’s been said a zillion times … but it’s like, you know, it’s these franchise characters that become a star.”
The 59-year-old filmmaker insisted he doesn’t “hate” Marvel films but admitted he is frustrated that the comic book genre has overshadowed any other movies being made in the modern age.
He said: “Look, I used to collect Marvel comics like crazy when I was a kid.
“There’s an aspect that if these movies were coming out when I was in my twenties, I would totally be f****** happy and totally love them.
“I mean, they wouldn’t be the only movies being made. They would be those movies amongst other movies. But, you know, I’m almost 60, so yeah. No, I’m not quite as excited about them.
“My only axe to grind against them is they’re the only things that seem to be made.
“And they’re the only things that seem to generate any kind of excitement amongst a fan base or even for the studio making them. That’s what they’re excited about.
“And so it’s just the fact that they are the entire representation of this era of movies right now. There’s not really much room for anything else. That’s my problem.”
A few weeks ago, the ‘Kill Bill’ director admitted he would never direct a Marvel film because “you have to be a hired hand to do those things”.
He added: “I’m not a hired hand. I’m not looking for a job.”

Ashley Jensen joins Shetland

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Jensen has joined ‘Shetland’.
The ‘After Life’ actress will lead the cast of the BBC murder mystery drama when it returns for its next series in 2023.
Ashley will portray DI Ruth Calder, a native Shetlander who returns to the isles after 20 years working for the Met in London, taking over the lead detective role left vacant by DI Jimmy Perez (Douglas Henshall) and working closely with DS Alison ‘Tosh’ McIntosh (Alison O’Donnell).
She said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Shetland as DI Ruth Calder.
“It’s such a hugely successful show and I am aware I have very big boots to fill since the departure of DI Perez, who was very much loved by fans of the show.
“There will be a different dynamic with Ruth amongst the regular characters and a few more new interesting characters to enjoy.
“However the integrity of the show and the world that has been created will remain very much in the same tone as the last seven seasons.
“It’s a real privilege to be asked to lead this show into a new chapter. I can’t wait to be working in Scotland again. I have missed it!”
The next series of ‘Shetland’ – which was originally based on novels by crime writer Ann Cleeves – will also feature regulars Steven Robertson (Sandy), Lewis Howden (Billy) and Anne Kidd (Cora).
Gaynor Holmes, Commissioning Editor for the BBC, added: “I am absolutely delighted that Ashley is joining the stellar cast of ‘Shetland’.

Kevin Lima ‘very sad’ not to direct Disenchanted

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Lima is “very sad” not to be directing ‘Disenchanted’.
The 60-year-old filmmaker helmed the 2007 original film ‘Enchanted’ but has been replaced behind the camera on the sequel by Adam Shankman and explained that Hollywood politics denied him the opportunity to return.
Kevin told The Hollywood Reporter: “A perfect storm of a change of executives and Hollywood politics made it so that I was uninvited to the party, unfortunately. It was a very, very sad turn.”
The director has no insider knowledge of the film and will experience the movie as a fan.
Kevin explained: “I haven’t seen the movie; I haven’t read the script. So I’m going to experience the characters that I helped create, grow and live on as the audience does.”
The ‘Tarzan’ helmer recalled how Disney were “quite nervous” about the original film as they feared it would only appeal to girls.
Lima said: “The marketing department didn’t have faith that the movie was worth making.
“They didn’t think boys would go to see this movie, and the marketing department did their best to shut down the movie a couple of times while we were in pre-production. But I was really lucky that (Disney execs) Nina Jacobson and Dick Cook believed in the film and kept pushing us forward.”
Kevin recalled how he pushed for Amy Adams to be cast as Giselle even though the studio were keen for an established start to land the role.
He said: “Amy is the lifeblood of ‘Enchanted’, and without that performance, the movie wouldn’t be half of what it is.”
Despite not directing the sequel, Lima is proud that ‘Enchanted’ continues to be a much-loved Disney princess film.
He said: “Because we paid homage to those movies in a loving way, ‘Enchanted’ has become timeless.”

Christopher McQuarrie hints at trouble for Tom Cruise in new Mission: Impossible film

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher McQuarrie has hinted at trouble for Ethan Hunt in ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’.
The 54-year-old director is helming the next two movies in the action franchise and claims that the title suggests that Tom Cruise’s hero and other characters could be in danger during the movie.
Speaking to Empire magazine, Christopher said: “There are many things emerging from Ethan’s past.
“‘Dead reckoning’ is a navigational term. It means you’re picking a course based solely on your last known position and that becomes quite the metaphor not only for Ethan, but several characters.”
The next ‘Mission: Impossible’ story is to be told across two films and McQuarrie is determined to make it a standout project in the long-running action series.
The ‘Jack Reacher’ director said: “The first thing we knew was that if it’s gonna be a big two-part adventure, it’s got to be epic.
“It’s going to have to be the installment that swallows the rest of the franchise whole. There’s just not another way to do it.”
Insiders have claimed that Cruise is planning some of the “biggest and most expensive stunts to date” for the sequel ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two’.
A source said: “Tom doesn’t do anything by halves and just like ‘Mission: Impossible 7’, the eighth film is going to be absolutely huge. No expense has been spared for this production.
“Tom and the team have flown to Limpopo, in South Africa, for filming and have set up a huge base there. He is staying in Hoedspruit, and has been flying the 400-mile round-trip for filming by helicopter most days.”

Paige Thorne and Jacques O’Neill ‘enjoying hanging out’

OHMYGOSSIP — Paige Thorne and Jacques O’Neill are “enjoying hanging out” together.
The pair got together on ‘Love Island’ this summer but went their separate ways after it was revealed the rugby player had been up to no good during the ITV2 show’s Casa Amor stage, and Paige later got together with bombshell Adam Collard.
But the paramedic and Adam recently split, and she has grown close to Jacques – who quit the show early after admitting he wasn’t feeling himself in the villa – and the pair have now been having “a bit of fun”.
An insider told The Sun Online: “Paige and Jacques clearly got on really well with each other on the show.
“They have hung out whenever they see each other and one thing has led to another.
“It’s all just a bit of fun at the moment, but they have both said ‘never say never’.”
Just last week, Jacques admitted he still has feelings for ex Paige.
He said: “I have no bad blood about her at all and she has nothing against me. Whatever happened happened, it was on a show and it’s been done.
“Whenever I see Paige I am going to speak to the girl. I’ve got nothing against her. She’s a lovely girl and I’m always gonna care for her. It’s as simple as that.
“Once you have feelings for someone it doesn’t just go, you’re always going to care for them no matter what, so that’s how I see Paige right now.”
The rugby league player also touched on Paige’s breakup with Adam, which came amid cheating allegations, which Adam has denied.
He said: “She’s getting a lot of hate and bad press, but if we’ve got each other to look out for each other why would we not, because we’re actually good people. So it’s just normal to be nice to each other.
“She’s been done over badly by you know someone, so I’m going to have her back when she’s been treated badly by a bloke like that.”
In October, Paige admitted she’s had a “really s*** time” since splitting from Adam.
In November, Adam spoke out about his split from Paige for the first time, and denied cheating on her.
The pair broke up shortly after a video of him putting his arm around a woman in McDonald’s went viral, and he called out the “misinformation” that has been spread following the incident.

Speaking in an Instagram live after the results on Tuesday, Ant said: “What a goddamn shame, I really enjoyed Boy George in there, I loved him. I thought he was really good fun.
“It is easy to say he stirs things up but at least he does stuff down there. He is a bit controversial, but at least he had a word about people and he made me laugh. No one is on my wavelength.”
Ant then yelled into the camera: “What were you thinking man! What were you thinking, why did you do that, it is all your fault. I liked Boy George.”
Dec added: “He was at the centre of a lot of the fun and conversation. I loved his and Seann’s conversation. I am gutted.”

“I have looked at myself for two-and-a-half weeks and it is horrifying.
“I had to forget who I was and let it go, it was quite interesting to get over it. I was in the jungle with no control. I am looking forward to being back in control.”
George provided fans with an update about his post-elimination plans, revealing he indulged in a pizza following his jungle exit.
He wrote on Twitter: “Eating pizza and watching #FIFAWorldCup [World Cup trophy emoji] replay after a lovely long shower. Thanks for all the amazing messages. The love always tracends the negativity. This bitch still gives great headline. I have seen them all and laughed heartily! #ImACelebrityGetMeOutOfHere. (sic)”

Vernon Kay has ‘never been asked’ to do Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Vernon Kay has “never been asked” to do ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ alum has not been approached to compete on the BBC One star-studded Latin and ballroom competition, which his wife Tess Daly, 53 – the mother of his two daughters Phoebe, 18, and Amber, 13 – presents alongside Claudia Winkleman, 50.
The 48-year-old broadcaster told OK! magazine: “I’ve never been asked, to be honest with you.”
Vernon admitted to not considering the conflict of interest, that Tess is a presenter on the programme, as he detailed being “good friends with” the team, such as new judge and longtime professional dancer on the show Anton Du Beke.
He said: “I never thought of that. I’m good friends with many of them – I play golf with Anton. So yes, maybe that’s why they haven’t asked me. I do enjoy the process of getting to know the dancers. I enjoy watching their rehearsal tapes and I enjoy sitting down with Tess and watching ‘It Takes Two’.”
The BBC Radio 2 presenter called the series “the only appointment-to-view” show on his TV schedule.
Vernon said: “The only appointment-to-view for me is ‘Strictly’. [Each week] I dread Tess tripping up when she comes around the corner on the stage. I make sure I’m watching after the titles, when Tess says, ‘Hello and welcome to ‘Strictly”, and Claudia says something. I just want to make sure that she’s done the opening link without tripping on her beautiful gown.”

The soap have been working closely with Brain Tumour Research and Macmillan Cancer Support on the hard-hitting plot.
Brain Tumour Research’s Sue Castle-Smith said: “We are extremely grateful to EastEnders for helping to raise awareness of brain tumours. Sadly, Lola’s story is all too familiar to thousands of families.

Dany Bell from Macmillan Cancer Support added: “Storylines like Lola’s play a crucial role in raising awareness and can genuinely save viewers’ lives, so we are really pleased to be helping EastEnders ensure a realistic experience is being portrayed on the show.
“The moving storyline will show how suddenly a diagnosis can impact every aspect of a person’s life and how challenging it can truly be. We know that what Lola and her fictional family are going through on EastEnders is a daily reality for many people around the UK right now, and Macmillan is here to offer advice and support to anyone who needs it.
“Anyone watching with concerns about any potential signs or symptoms of cancer must also speak to their GP as soon as possible.”
Danielle – whose departure from Albert Square was teased earlier this year – admitted it meant a lot to her to be “trusted” with such a sensitive story.
She said: “It means so much to be trusted with a storyline like this – one that’s close to many people’s hearts. Sadly many of our viewers will be able to relate to Lola’s story and it’s been heart-breaking to speak to the families affected by brain tumours and hear their stories.
“They’ve been so amazing in sharing their experiences with me, and I’m so lucky to have them. I wouldn’t be able to do this storyline without their support.”

Amanda Holden: The deal is not done on Britain’s Got Talent return

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Holden says “the deal is not done” about her return for the next season of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The 51-year-old star teased Simon Cowell that her 15 years on the ITV talent reality competition did not mean she was a permanent addition to the panel alongside David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and himself.
While paying tribute to the 61-year-old TV executive at the Variety Club Awards on Tuesday (22.11.22), Amanda told the crowd: “I am currently in negotiations for my 16th year on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.”
Simon responded by whispering: “The deal is done.”
She replied: “No it is not. The deal is not done.”
Lauren Silverman, Simon’s fiancee and mother of his son Eric, eight, took to the stage to talk about how he has been enjoying fatherhood, calling him “an amazing role model” to her 16-year-old son Adam, who she had with her ex Andrew Silverman.
The 45-year-old socialite said: “Simon has been teaching our eight-year-old son Eric the value and the importance of helping others.
“It means so much to me as a mum for our son to have a father and for my eldest son Adam to have a stepfather who is such an amazing role model in so many ways.
“He cares so deeply. His aim is to make a difference to people’s lives by helping however and whenever he can. Becoming a parent has only amplified this for Simon. Helping others is something which is hugely important to us as a family.”
The star admitted that “being on stage” made her feel “extremely nervous”.
She said: “Unlike Simon, being on stage is unfamiliar to me and makes me feel extremely nervous.
“But being given this opportunity to speak for the first time about the man I love, the answer was of course yes. So here I’m facing my fear on this stage. The award I am presenting is to reward his generosity in philanthropy.”

Claudia Winkleman’s Strictly tears after Fleur East received perfect score

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Winkleman says everyone at ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ cried after Fleur East received the first perfect score of the series last weekend.
The co-host of the BBC Latin and ballroom show admitted there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when the ‘Sax’ hitmaker, 35, and her professional partner Vito Coppola, 30, received 10s across the board from the judges, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood for their Couple’s Choice performance on Saturday (19.11.22).
The 50-year-old broadcaster told HELLO! magazine: “It was amazing. We all cried. It was because her mum was so moved. The atmosphere was electric. Craig was so clever because he took quite a long time to lift it [his paddle], and then he did.”
