OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Mo Farah and Carol Vorderman have signed up for the ‘Taskmaster’ New Year’s special.

Scarlette Douglas ‘devastated’ to hear of Jonnie Irwin’s terminal cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlette Douglas was left “devastated” to hear her fellow ‘A Place in the Sun’ presenter Jonnie Irwin has terminal cancer.
The 35-year-old TV presenter – who hosted the Channel 4 show from 2015 until this year – knew 49-year-old Jonnie, who presented the programme from 2004 to 2021, had cancer but she was unaware it was terminal until he revealed the news last week.
Scarlette was on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ at the time, and only found out about Jonnie’s devastating diagnosis when she became the second contestant voted out of the jungle earlier this week.
She said: “I had heard but I didn’t realise it was terminal, which makes it sound imminent.
“On ‘A Place In The Sun’ we’re always in different locations and we never really get to see each other.
“Sometimes our paths might cross but I think I probably only met Jonnie in person maybe three times, a handful of times, but it was always just brilliant.”
Scarlette watched Jonnie closely on the show for research purposes before she had her screen test for the programme.
She added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I remember when I was doing my screen test for it, I’d watch a lot of his shows because he was confident with the house hunters. He was just on it. He knew everything, you know, you never question Jonnie. Jonnie was just so knowledgeable.
“Any questions the house hunters had, he knew the answer to and I remember taking a lot of inspiration from him when I first did the screen test, and even still doing the shows, still watching his episodes and being like ‘Jonnie’s done it like that’. And I love how he’s done that. So I want to add a bit of that into how I present stuff.
“So I knew that he wasn’t well, but I didn’t know this. I’ve come out and been told there was something in the papers that he is not well. I didn’t know the true extent of it.”
Father-of-three Jonnie – who has sons Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with his wife Jess, 40 – explained last week how he was told he had six months to live two years ago.
He said: “Within a week of flying back from filming, I was being given six months to live.
“I had to go home and tell my wife, who was looking after our babies, that she was on her own pretty much. That was devastating. All I could do was apologise to her. I felt so responsible.”

Will Ferrell reveals Barbie role in ‘high and low art’ blockbuster

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Ferrell will play an “insensitive” and “weird” Mattel CEO in ‘Barbie’.
The 55-year-old actor has opened up on his role in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming movie – which stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken – but he doesn’t want to give too much away before the film hits the big screen.
He told the Wall Street Journal: “I get to play the CEO of Mattel and be that guy who’s just insensitive but weird and then, not to spoil anything, but…”
Ferrell also heaped praise on the movie as a whole, hailing it as a combination of high and low art forms coming together for something special.
He said: “It is, in my humble opinion, the ultimate example of high art and low art.
“It’s a loving homage to the brand and, at the same time, couldn’t be more satirical — just an amazing comment on male patriarchy and women in society and why Barbie’s criticised and yet why every little girl still wants to play with Barbie.
“Boy, when I read it, I was like, ‘This is fantastic.’ ”
His comments come after Margot previously insisted the movie won’t be what people are expecting.
She said: “It comes with a lot of baggage! And a lot of nostalgic connections. But with that come a lot of exciting ways to attack it.
“People generally hear ‘Barbie’ and think, ‘I know what that movie is going to be,’ and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they’re like, ‘Oh, well, maybe I don’t.’ ”
And the Australian actress’ co-star Emma Mackey has explained how the cast – which also includes America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Scott Evans, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Issa Rae, Michael Cera and Ncuti Gatwa – bonded on sleepovers.
The ‘Sex Education’ star revealed: “Right in the beginning, we had a sleepover for the Barbies, which would involve playing games with Scott and Ncuti.”

James Cameron: Avatar 2 needs to be 3rd or 4th highest grossing in history to break even

OHMYGOSSIP — James Cameron says ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ will have to be the “third or fourth highest-grossing film in history” just to break even.
The 68-year-old director admits his forthcoming movie, the hotly-anticipated follow up to 2009’s ‘Avatar’ – which is due to drop next month – was “very f******” expensive to make, and he has described the motion picture as the “worst business case in movie history”.
Speaking about how the film could be profitable, he said: “You have to be the third or fourth highest-grossing film in history.
“That’s your threshold. That’s your break even.”
The franchise’s four sequels have an expected budget of around $1 billion.
Cameron admitted he is attracted to “difficult” projects.
He added to GQ magazine: “I like difficult. I’m attracted by difficult. Difficult is a f****** magnet for me. I go straight to difficult.
“And I think it probably goes back to this idea that there are lots of smart, really gifted, really talented filmmakers out there that just can’t do the difficult stuff.
“So that gives me a tactical edge to do something nobody else has ever seen, because the really gifted people don’t f****** want to do it.”
Earlier this month, Cameron admitted the ‘Avatar’ franchise could be “done in three months” if the sequel isn’t a success.
He said: “The market could be telling us we’re done in three months, or we might be semi-done, meaning, ‘OK, let’s complete the story within movie three, and not go on endlessly,’ if it’s just not profitable.
“We’re in a different world now than we were when I wrote this stuff, even.
“It’s the one-two punch – the pandemic and streaming. Or, conversely, maybe we’ll remind people what going to the theatre is all about. This film definitely does that. The question is, ‘How many people give a s*** now?’ ”
Cameron also admitted the franchise has been “hideously expensive” to make, but insisted the upcoming film will deliver “three hours of a pretty much insane experience”.
He added: “There are a couple of things that I took out [of ‘The Way Of Water’] that I want to shoehorn into movie three, hopefully.
“These are hideously expensive movies. It was a sketchy business case before the pandemic to make a movie that cost this much.
“At this point, we just have to play it out to see what happens. But what I know right now is: we’re delivering three hours of a pretty much insane experience.”

Tyler West: Dianne brought out the best in me on Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyler West feels his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro partner Dianne Buswell “brought out the best” in him on the show.
The 26-year-old radio presenter and the pro dancer were sent home from the competition last weekend, and the star admitted it was “surreal” dancing to millions on the BBC Latin and ballroom programme.
He said: “I’m just little old Tyler from some South London council estate, it’s just surreal to then be dancing in front of millions of people.
“I used to be the shyest kid ever, she [Dianne] brought the best out me on that dance floor … Di is what ‘Strictly’ is all about. She has the passion, she has the power, she has the drive, she has the creativity and she has the patience!”
Dianne, 33, admits she is “grateful” to have been partnered with Tyler on this year’s series.
She said: “Tyler is just everything you want in a partner and more, I can’t even explain how grateful I am to be given this opportunity to be able to give my best choreography, because he’s just such a talent.
“And like I said in our leaving speech, your [Tyler’s] smile lights up a room and you always gave me everything and more. So thank you so much. You’re an absolute legend.”
Tyler and Dianne were dumped out of the competition after they lost the dance-off to Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu.
Dianne was “proud” of Tyler for “giving everything” after the pair landed in the bottom two.
Speaking in a joint interview on ‘Strictly – It Takes Two’, she added: “I mean it’s never nice being in the bottom two but, you know, first and foremost I wanted Tyler to feel as confident and as good as possible so that he could go out there and smash the routine … It’s never the end when you’re when you’re announced in the bottom two, you still have a chance to dance and you still have a chance to prove that you’re worthy of being in the competition and I’m just so proud of Tyler for going out there and just giving everything.
“I’m such a passionate dancer and really for me, it’s all about leaving your heart on that floor and I can’t ask for anymore because he absolutely did that and I’m so, so proud of him.”
‘Strictly – It Takes Two’ continues every weeknight at 6:30pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ airs on Saturday and Sunday nights on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Quentin Tarantino responds to N word controversy and tells critics to ‘see something else’

OHMYGOSSIP — Quentin Tarantino thinks people should “see something else” if they don’t like him using the N-word in his movies.
The 59-year-old director – who helmed the likes of ‘Once Upon a Time In Hollywood’, ‘Django Unchained’ and ‘Pulp Fiction’ during his illustrious career – has dismissed any controversy surrounding a white filmmaker including the word so often in his films.
During an appearance on HBO Max’s ‘Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace’, the host asked Tarantino: “You talk about being the conductor and the audience being the orchestra. So when people say, ‘Well there’s too much violence in his movies. He uses the N-word too often.’ You say what?”
He replied: “You should see something else.”
The director added: “Then see something else. If you have a problem with my movies then they aren’t the movies to go see. Apparently I’m not making them for you.”
Despite the backlash over the years, Samuel L. Jackson – who is one of Tarantino’s longtime collaborators – has defended the filmmaker in the past.
Back in 2019, he said: “It’s some bulls***. You can’t just tell a writer he can’t talk, write the words, put the words in the mouths of the people from their ethnicities, the way that they use their words.
“You cannot do that, because then it becomes an untruth; it’s not honest. It’s just not honest.”
The previous year, Jamie Foxx – who starred in ‘Django Unchained’ – revealed he didn’t have any issues with the N-word being used, despite it being said over 100 times in the script.
He explained: “I understood the text. The N-word was said 100 times, but I understood the text — that’s the way it was back in that time.”
Meanwhile, Tarantino’s comments come after he has reiterated his upcoming 10th movie – which is yet to be announced – will be his last one.
He said: “I’ve been doing it for a long time. I’ve been doing it for 30 years. And it’s time to wrap up the show. I’m an entertainer. I want to leave you wanting more.”

Lorraine and This Morning fans fume as World Cup replaces shows

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Lorraine’ and ‘This Morning’ fans have been left fuming after the World Cup replaced the two shows.
Some have taken to Twitter to vent their frustrations at ITV after weekday programmes ‘Lorraine’, which usually starts at 9am and is presented by Lorraine Kelly, and ‘This Morning’, which airs at 10am, were both bumped off the schedule on Tuesday (22.11.22) for the Argentina vs Saudi Arabia match, coverage for which began at 9am live from Qatar.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: “@ITV not everyone is interested in the world Cup, putting it on at 9am and taking morning TV off is disgusting, stick it on ITV2. Bet your ratings are through the roof with this match….not!! #Lorraine #ThisMorning (sic)”
Another posted: “What the f++ is going on with the TV today. Where hell is Lorraine This morning. Does ITV think suicidal people who have no access to fancy Netflix or catch-up TV want there routines messed up to watch instead a bunch of rich men kicking a ball around a field. NO NO NO NO NO (sic)”
While ‘Good Morning Britain’ aired as usual until 9am, ‘Loose Women’ will also not be on today as part of the World Cup schedule changes, due to coverage of Denmark vs Tunisia.
Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, said: “The World Cup is now in focus and we’re delighted to be able to bring viewers coverage of what promises to be some of the standout games of the tournament across ITV channels and our new free streaming service ITVX, which launches this autumn.
“We’re kicking-off with the opening match and will show England’s group stage match against the USA as well as games involving tournament favourites such as Brazil, France, Argentina, Spain and the Netherlands. Plus, we have picks one and two of the round of 16 and pick one of the quarter-finals.
“The ITV Sport team is now looking forward to bringing viewers the very best of the first winter World Cup.”
On Monday’s (21.11.22) ‘This Morning’, co-hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby revealed to viewers that the show won’t air until Friday (25.11.22).
Phil said: “Right, the World Cup is on ITV for the next few mornings so Alison [Hammond] and Dermot [O’Leary] will be with you on Friday, we will see you next week.
Holly added: “All that’s left to say is good luck England, good luck Wales and we’ll see you next week.”
Some football fans are boycotting the World Cup due it taking place in Qatar, which has been the subject of international condemnation over its human rights record, including criminalisation of homosexuality.

Anjelica Huston cast in Ballerina

OHMYGOSSIP — Anjelica Huston is to star in ‘Ballerina’.
The 71-year-old actress will reprise her role as The Director in the spin-off to the ‘John Wick’ films.
Production is already underway on the movie that will be led by Ana de Armas as the ballerina-assassin Rooney and is to be directed by Len Wiseman. Principal photography on the project started earlier this month in Prague.
Huston appeared as The Director, the head of the Ruska Roma crime organisation, in ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’ in a scene where a beleaguered John Wick (Keanu Reeves) came to her for help.
Among her skills is training young dancers to learn that art is suffering while also training young fighters to roll with the flips.
‘The Witches’ actress isn’t the only star returning for the film as both Keanu and Ian McShane will both be reprising their roles as Wick and Winston, the manager of The Continental Hotel, respectively.
Erica Lee, who is producing ‘Ballerina’ with Chad Stahelski and Basil Iwanyk, said: “The idea of ‘Ballerina’ was formed around the scenes with Anjelica in ‘John Wick 3’.
“Anjelica Huston is an icon and is nothing less than Hollywood royalty. The world of Wick is always made richer by her commanding screen presence.”
McShane’s appearance in the film was recently confirmed by Iwanyk.
In a statement, the producer said: “We’re thrilled to have Ian McShane joining us for a pivotal role in ‘Ballerina’.
“He’s been such an integral part of the franchise since the original ‘John Wick.’ It’s been fun to have him on this journey as the Wick universe expands.”

Oti Mabuse’s Strictly Come Dancing comeback

OHMYGOSSIP — Oti Mabuse is returning to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The professional dancer, who announced her departure from the dancing competition earlier in February, will be making a comeback to the BBC Latin and ballroom show as a choreographer.
The two-time champion will be sharing her creative expertise with fellow professionals during the festive period as they get ready to open the show during Musicals week.
Speaking in the December issue of Women’s Health UK, she said: “I’m choreographing a number on it.
“What an amazing opportunity [this is] to work behind the scenes and really enjoy the professionals’ talent because they’re such an amazing group to work with.”
Oti, 32, younger sister of Motsi Mabuse, 41 – who joined the ‘Strictly’ judging panel in 2019 – is the only professional to win the Glitterball trophy two years in a row, in 2019 with ‘Emmerdale’ actor Kelvin Fletcher and again in 2020 with comedian Bill Bailey.
She added: “At that point, I’d been on the show for four years, and I go, ‘Oh my gosh, when is it [winning Strictly] gonna happen?!’
“We had a conversation and we were like, ‘Look, we have to be amazing. You have to do your job, be honest, criticise and do the best you can do. And then I have to do the same.
“What people don’t understand is that she and I didn’t have an option … it’s so easy to take all the incredible work away by saying, ‘They’re sisters.’
“We’re confident, we’re loud, we’re vibrant … our parents fought for us to be here, and being ourselves is one of the reasons why we were hired. So we remind each other of that – and encourage each other.”

The Amazon Prime Video thriller will see Jessica Raine and Peter Capaldi reprise their respective roles as Lucy Chambers and Gideon, alongside Nikesh Patel, Phil Dunster, Meera Syal, and Benjamin Chivers.

Series one sees Lucy on the hunt for serial killer Gideon, whose true intentions are later revealed.
Filming on the next series will start early next year.
‘The Devil’s Hour’ is written by Tom Moran, and executive produced by Tom, Steven Moffat, and Sue Vertue.

“Tom Moran and his big brain have so much more planned for us all.
“This was always envisioned as a three-series arc, and it’s going to be a thrilling ride.”
Tom, writer and creator, added: “Series One of ‘The Devil’s Hour’ was just the beginning – the opening act of a TV novel.
“I’m so thrilled that we get to keep turning those pages and slotting the puzzle pieces into place.
“If you thought the final episode of Series One had all the answers, then you haven’t been asking the right questions.”

Shirley Ballas’ pig farmer dream

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge Shirley Ballas would love to be a pig farmer one day.
The 62-year-old star joined the BBC Latin and ballroom competition in 2017 for the 15th series as head judge, replacing Len Goodman when he stepped down, but away from the show’s glamour, Shirley would love to muck in on a farm.
Shirley is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: “One day I’d like to get the welly boots on and go on to a farm and clean up the animals – no makeup, welly boots and a big over-Mac.
“People see me on ‘Strictly’ all glammed up but really deep down inside I love all the activities that people would never expect I would love.
“My daughter-in-law, she would like nothing more than a big farm and lots of animals. She’s very much about nature, very much about the world and saving it. She’s just a fantastic human being and I would never say no to living on a farm.
“She’s just a fantastic human being and I would never say no to living on a farm.”
Shirley – who has son Mark, 36, with ex-husband Corky Ballas – made an emotional admission about her only child, after being reunited for the first time in three years due to the coronavirus pandemic keeping them apart.
The ‘Strictly’ judge said her proudest achievement of 2022 was being able to hold her son after they reunited.
She recently said: “My proudest achievement this year was that I got to fly to the United States and hold my son in my arms after three years of not seeing him.
“That is the proudest moment that I have had this year.”

Strictly’s Helen Skelton talks ‘down days’

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Skelton has admitted she experiences “down days”, but she tries to “just get on with it”.
The ‘Countryfile’ presenter believes life is a “blessing” and always thinks there is “someone worse off than yourself” if she is going through a tough time.
She said: “I’ve always seen my mind as a muscle – if you look after it, it will look after you.
“People ask me if my glass is half full or half empty, and I say, ‘I’ve got a glass haven’t I?’
“Life is a blessing. Sometimes my friends are like, ‘You must have a down day,’ and of course I do, but I was just always one of those kids that was brought up to believe there’s someone worse off than yourself, so just get on with it.”
Helen – who has sons Ernie, seven, Louis, five, and 10-month-old-daughter Elise with her ex Richie Myler, 32 – loves to ensure she gets some fresh air on a daily basis to look after herself.
She added to OK.co.uk: “I invest in looking after my mind.
“I am a big advocate of the outdoors. I’ve always been the kind of person who needs to go for a walk every day or a run, or just get fresh air in my face.
“I used gyms and exercise to look after my mental health. It’s adaptable – when I was pregnant I swam a lot. I only do stuff that makes me feel good.”
Helen is currently taking part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and recently revealed she has struck up a friendship with her dance partner Gorka Marquez’s financée Gemma Atkinson.
She said: “I’m so lucky because Gemma’s also done the show and she gets it.
“She understands what it’s like when you’re in my shoes, so I feel like I get the benefit of that support [as well as Gorka’s].”

Harrison Ford to be de-aged in Indiana Jones 5

OHMYGOSSIP — Harrison Ford will be de-aged in ‘Indiana Jones 5’.
The 80-year-old star is reprising his role as the protagonist for the final time in the upcoming movie and will be de-aged using visual effects to appear as he did in the original trilogy.
The technology is only used during the movie’s opening scene, which takes place in a castle in 1944 and pits Indy against a group of Nazis.
Director James Mangold told Empire magazine: “Then we fall out, and you find yourself in 1969.
“So that the audience doesn’t experience the change between the 40s and 60s as an intellectual conceit, but literally experiences the buccaneering spirit of those early days… and then the beginning of now.”
Kathleen Kennedy, who is producing the movie for Lucasfilm, hopes that the technology isn’t the main focus for fans.
She said: “My hope is that, although it will be talked about in terms of technology, you just watch it and go, ‘Oh my God, they just found footage. This was a thing they shot 40 years ago.’
“We’re dropping you into an adventure, something Indy is looking for, and instantly you have that feeling, ‘I’m in an ‘Indiana Jones’ movie.'”
Harrison confessed that it was “a little spooky” to see himself de-aged in the movie, which is due to be released in June 2023.
The ‘Star Wars’ actor said: “This is the first time I’ve seen it where I believe it… I don’t think I even want to know how it works. It doesn’t make me want to be young, though. I’m glad to have earned my age.”

Yann Demange to direct Blade

OHMYGOSSIP — Yann Demange is to direct ‘Blade’.
The 45-year-old filmmaker has stepped in to direct the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) project after original helmer Bassam Tariq dropped out in September.
Yann’s previous directing credits include the TV shows ‘Top Boy’ and ‘Lovecraft Country’.
Mahershala Ali is still attached to play the lead role in the movie and Michael Starrbury has been hired to write a brand new script for the picture.
‘Blade’ is slated for release in September 2024 and is set to go into production in Atlanta next year.
Details about the film are being kept under wraps but sources say the plan is for the flick to be dark and gritty in tone and have similarities to the trilogy that saw Wesley Snipes play the human-vampire hybrid character between 1998 and 2004.
Bassam dropped out as director due to changes in the “production schedule” but will remain involved as an executive producer.
A Marvel statement read: “Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of ‘Blade’ but will remain an executive producer on the film.
“We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he’s done getting ‘Blade’ to where it is.”
In his own statement, Bassam said: “It’s been an honour working with the wonderful folks at Marvel. We were able to put together a killer cast and crew. Eager to see where the next director takes the film.”
Ali has been praised by his predecessor Snipes and explained how he was thrilled to hear the kind words.
He said: “Man, you know, [I’m] humbled and so encouraged by that.
“Because he didn’t have to say that. Wasn’t nobody really asking him like that.
“So for him to come out and say that, somebody I look up to so much, I sincerely appreciated that. So thank you, brother.”

Kym Marsh out of Strictly Come Dancing after testing positive for COVID-19

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh is out of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this weekend after contracting COVID-19.
The 46-year-old actress and her professional partner Graziano Di Prima will not be able to dance this Saturday (26.11.22) due to the coronavirus protocols that are in place on the BBC One ballroom show.
They will be able to compete again the following Saturday (03.12.22).
A ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ spokesperson said: “Kym Marsh has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, Kym and Graziano will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, they will return the following week.”
Kym’s COVID-19 diagnosis is the latest health problem she has suffered on ‘Strictly’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star had to miss some rehearsals after falling ill a few weeks ago.
She said at the time: “I will pull myself through, it is only one of those 24 hour things and I think you have got to get out there and do it, no matter what. Even if you have bits dropping off you have to get out there!”
Kym – who shot to fame on ITV talent show ‘Popstars’ when she won a place in the group Hear’Say back in 2001 – also suffered a debilitating panic attack which left her unable to practice with Graziano, 28.
Opening up on the medical moment, she said: “It just came over me, almost out of nowhere, and I couldn’t carry on.
“I’ve always suffered from panic attacks. It’s something I don’t mind talking about because I know it can affect anyone at any time.
“Sometimes it has been ages (since an attack) and then suddenly one just hits.”
