Daniel Craig used to hide his own movies in Blockbuster

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Craig used to hide his own movies in Blockbuster.
The 54-year-old actor revealed that if he didn’t rate a film he had starred in he would go into the now-defunct VHS rental store and hide a copy of it from sight in the hopes that “just one person” wouldn’t get the chance to see it.
He said: “I used to have this thing, there was a couple of movies that I did back in the day when Blockbusters was still a thing, I used to go to Blockbusters and if I saw it on the shelf, I would grab it and throw it under a counter. I know it was not going to make a huge difference, but I thought if at least one person didn’t see the movie, it would be a good thing.”
Meanwhile, the former ‘007’ star has now teamed up with director Rian Johnson once again for ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ after starring in the initial 2019 movie and explained that because a lot of the dialogue can become a voiceover in the final cut, he learned a monologue as one piece so that it would come across as “consistently” as possible.
He told Collider: “We had this whole thing in the first one, when I got the script, there’s the denouement and kind of the explanation and the long speeches, and I said to Rian, ‘I don’t want to split these up. I’d like to shoot them, go as long as possible. I don’t want to keep cutting into them.’
“For a number of reasons. Because a lot goes to voiceover, and I was really concerned, in my head, I have this ridiculous ear, I can always hear when there’s added dialogue. It’s a kind of curse when you’re watching a movie because it can take me out of the movie, and I wanted it to be as consistent as possible.
“I wanted him to be able to cut away from me, you keep using my voice, and it to feel like all one performance. So I learned it as one piece and we shot it long, long takes, until the card ran out at times, just so that it could have a continuity to it. And we did the same with this one. So, as hard as it was, line-learning is just a pony trick. When people ask me about acting they say, “How do you learn the lines?” That’s the job. The hard bit is acting it. So, thankfully, he was around to keep an eye on me.”
‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ will stream on Netflix from December 23.

Jonnie Irwin kept cancer diagnosis a secret over job fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonnie Irwin kept his terminal cancer diagnosis a secret over fears he might lose work if TV bosses discovered he was dying.
The 49-year-old TV presenter insisted he needs to put “food on the table” for his wife Jess, three-year-old son Rex and two-year-old twins Cormac and Rafa, but says producers are quick to “write you off” when they find out about his diagnosis.
He said: “As soon as people find out you’ve got cancer they write you off. Yes, I have stage four and it’s terminal – but not yet, so let me live my life while I can.
“Yes, I’m a family man and I need to put a roof over our heads and food on the table but work is something that’s really important to me. It also stops me thinking about cancer.”
Jonnie also claims ‘A Place in the Sun’ didn’t renew his contract after finding out about his diagnosis, despite him wanting to carry on with the show,.
He told The Sun newspaper: “As soon as I told ‘A Place in the Sun’ about my diagnosis they paid me for the rest of the season but didn’t renew my contract. They knew I wanted to carry on.
“That hurt. That broke my heart. I feel hugely let down. I can’t even watch the show now.”
However, Channel 4 have claimed production company Freeform were not able to “secure adequate insurance” to cover Jonnie.
A statement from Channel 4 and production company Freeform said: “No stone was left unturned in trying to enable Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during COVID but the production company were unable to secure adequate insurance cover for him.
“We, of course, understand how frustrating this must be for him at this incredibly difficult time.”
While Jonnie has been “impressed” with Escape to the Country and A Place In The Sun Ltd for employing him, the star insists he “didn’t get that support” from ‘A Place in the Sun’.
He said: “Even though I look thinner and I’m without hair, Escape to the Country and A Place In The Sun Ltd, which runs the show’s exhibitions, have employed me and I’ve been so impressed by them.
“But I didn’t get that support from ‘A Place in the Sun’. I told them I wanted to work. When I said I can get you doctor notes and assurances from my oncologist that I am fit to work, I was told, verbatim, ‘Oh, you really don’t want to go down that route, do you?’
“They said, ‘We don’t think we can get the insurance’, not ‘We can’t get the insurance’, but, ‘We don’t think . . . ’ That broke my heart and affected my mental health.”
‘Escape to the Country’ host Jonnie opened up about his cancer diagnosis last week, revealing he was told he had six months to live two years ago.
He said: “Within a week of flying back from filming, I was being given six months to live.
“I had to go home and tell my wife, who was looking after our babies, that she was on her own pretty much. That was devastating. All I could do was apologise to her. I felt so responsible.”

Peter Kay’s company rakes in 22 million

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Kay’s company has raked in more than £22 million.
The 49-year-old star confirmed earlier this month he is to hit the road again, after not performing a live tour since 2010, but even before his run of shows begins, the accounts for his main firm, Hussein Traders Ltd, show he has £22.6 million in investments and is £10.5 million in profit.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “The accounts just prove what a huge success Peter is.
“His royalties and merchandise still tick along every year, despite his recent inactivity.
“He’s also very savvy with his cash, as he’s made lots of wise investments.”
But Peter recently revealed he saved some cash on his comeback advert, by filming it on a mobile phone.
He said: “I put an iPhone down my shorts and put it on Voice Memo so I recorded my sound.
“Tesco spent £12 million on their Christmas advert, but I’ve done it in 10 minutes on two iPhones.”
In the ad, the comedian delivers a roll of carpet to his mum and he is heckled for his love of garlic bread by a couple of fans.
The star revealed it only took 20 minutes to shoot.
He added: “It was hilarious. We were back home in 20 minutes.”
The ‘Phoenix Nights’ star will begin his tour on 2 December at the Manchester AO Arena before visiting arenas in Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Belfast, Newcastle, Glasgow, and Dublin, before wrapping up in August.
Peter explained that because of the cost-of-living crisis, he has managed to keep ticket prices the same as they were when he last went on tour more than a decade ago.
In a statement, he said: “It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy, and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now.
“And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35 – the same price they were on my previous tour in 2010.”

Joe Jonas was crushed to miss out on Spider-Man role

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Jonas “felt defeated” after missing out on the chance to play Spider-Man.
The Jonas Brothers star revealed that he auditioned for the role of the web-slinging superhero in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ but was crushed to lose out to Andrew Garfield.
Quizzed on his failed auditions, Joe told the Just for Variety podcast: “I can name probably a couple. In the moment, you’re destroyed or you’re defeated. But you realise this person was brilliant.
“I remember years ago I was up for Spider-Man and I was so, so excited and it was the year Andrew Garfield got it. Obviously, he was the right one.”
Joe added: “But I remember that was a big thing at the time, going back for callbacks and the director used to be a music video director. So I was like, ‘I got an in here’. But you know what? I love the process of auditioning and putting yourself out there and having to prove yourself.”
The star is married to ‘Game of Thrones’ actress Sophie Turner and wouldn’t rule out the prospect of the pair acting together.
Joe said: “Oh, interesting. Who knows? I think it comes down to the right role or project. I think it would be fun. We like the idea of maybe building a project or projects together down the road.
“We have a lot of ideas and we bounce ideas off of each other and we have some things that we thought could be really interesting to collaborate on. Maybe just put on our producer hat and put it out there.”

Emma D’Arcy drops out of Anna

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma D’Arcy has dropped out of the thriller ‘Anna’.
The ‘House of the Dragon’ star had been cast in the movie about the fearless Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya but has now been replaced by Naomi Battrick due to a scheduling clash.
D’Arcy was set to play Anna’s daughter Vera Politkovskaya in the film that is led by Maxine Peake and is being directed by James Strong from a script by Eric Poppen.
It is understood that D’Arcy was replaced by Battrick several weeks ago in the movie that was originally titled ‘Mother Russia’. Ciaran Hinds, Jason Isaacs, Harry Lawtey and Ellie Bamber also feature in the cast.
‘Anna’ tells the story of the journalist and human rights activist who went from being a local reporter to braving the Chechen killing fields and exposing Russian state corruption under Vladimir Putin’s regime.
She refused to give up reporting on the war in Chechnya despite several acts of intimidation and violence. Anna was ultimately murdered in the elevator of her block of flats in 2006.
Principal photography on the movie started recently in the UK and Latvia.
Emma, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, played the role of the adult Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel series, and felt able to identify with her part.
They said: “Rhaenyra is deeply interested in gender dynamics; she has really keen awareness for the different space that men and women are afforded.
“She feels at odds with the way that she’s read. She feels like an inherent outsider that, despite their best efforts, and from a very young age, I think she’s seeking a way of living that feels authentic. I find that very moving.”

Craig Revel Horwood was Janette Manrara and Aljaz Skorjanec’s landlord

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood was once Janette Manrara and Aljaz Skorjanec’s landlord.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional dancers – who got married in 2017 – used to live in the 57-year-old show judge’s flat, and admit he was the “coolest landlord” they will ever have.
Speaking on podcast ‘Dish with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett’, Janette, 39, told hosts radio personality Nick Grimshaw and celebrity chef Angela Hartnett: “You know, he was our landlord for a second? Aljaz and I were on tour with ‘Strictly Come Dancing Live!’ and we were trying to move into one of these flats, and we had to do it quick, and Craig was like, ‘Well I’ve got my house free at the moment, no one’s living in it, it’s in a beautiful area, do you guys want to move in? You can be my tenants’. And we were like, ‘yeah!’ ”
Aljaz, 32, added: “Coolest landlord we’re ever going to have.”
Janette – whose last season on the star-studded Latin and ballroom contest was in 2020 – was a fan of the interiors in Craig’s pad.
She said: “We had red carpet staircase, we had velvet walls, chandeliers, I mean you can imagine what Craig’s house would look like.”
The ‘Strictly: It Takes Two’ host admitted she and Aljaz are “really considering” getting a dog now they have more stability in their lives after leaving ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ as pro dancers.
Janette said: “We love animals. We do, we’re big animal lovers. But with our career and what we do for our line of work, we’re constantly away from home and touring the country, and away, and abroad, so it never felt fair to have a little friend at home that didn’t have us and have the love that it really deserved.
“But you know, now we’ve got a little bit more time, we’re not on ‘Strictly’ together anymore so it gives us a bit more of a base for a few months in the year, and even if we do tour it’s not as crazy as it has been in the past. So, life has just kind of slowed down in that being away from home sense, so we’re really considering it now.”
‘Dish’, hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, is available on all podcast providers now.

Ekin-Su Culculoglu wants Italy move with Davide Sanclimenti when ‘older and had kids’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ekin-Su Culculoglu wants to move to Italy with Davide Sanclimenti – when they are older and have had kids.
The ‘Love Island’ winners want to settle down in the “romantic” country when they have crossed off several milestones, after they visited his home nation in their new ITV2 two-part series, ‘Ekin-Su Davide: Homecomings’.
The 28-year-old actress told new! magazine: “I just loved how romantic Italy was, especially where Davide’s from. If I was older, retired, had kids and they’d all grown up, I’d go to his hometown.
“It was beautiful. Italian culture is exactly the same as Turkish – family means everything. All the family are very loving, they love Davide, they love to see me. I really felt a part of the family and I miss them. I felt very looked after.”
Davide admitted to having “felt the same” in Ekin-Su’s homeland, Turkey.
He said: “I felt the same when I was in Turkey.”
The ‘Dancing on Ice’ star spilled that her family “love” her man – unlike her other boyfriends – and see him as a “good guy”.
Ekin-Su said: “My family love him so much. My mum never approved of any boyfriend until now, she said, ‘Davide’s a lovely, good guy.’ My mum can see through people.
“We know we’re good for each other, we’re well-suited, so if he sees me as wife material, that’s good. I can definitely see him as a husband guy, so if it’s going to happen, it’ll happen.”
Davide agreed, admitting his girlfriend is “wife material”.
The loved-up couple revealed their ITV2 two-part series will show them being “more understanding”.
Davide said: “You’ll probably see us close to each other, more understanding also. I understand her more since I’ve been to her country and met her family.”
Ekin-Su said: “We’ve actually improved on communication recently. If something was bothering him, he’ll say and I’ll listen, and vice versa. Then we meet in the middle and solve the problem.”

Leonardo DiCaprio almost lost Titanic role

OHMYGOSSIP — Leonardo DiCaprio nearly missed out on a role in ‘Titanic’.
The Hollywood heartthrob played Jack Dawson in the iconic 1997 film but director James Cameron revealed that it almost fell apart due to the star’s poor attitude during auditions.
In a career retrospective for GQ, James said: “There was a meeting with Leo and then there was a screen test with Leo.
“The meeting was funny because I am sitting in my conference room, waiting to meet an actor. And I look around, and all the women in the entire office are in the meeting. They all wanted to meet Leo. It was hysterical.”
The ‘Avatar’ director said that the first meeting with DiCaprio went well as the actor “charmed everybody” but things did not go as smoothly when he was asked back for a screen test with co-star Kate Winslet.
James, 68, said: “So he came back a couple of days later, and I had the camera set up to record the video.
“He didn’t know he was going to test. He thought it was another meeting to meet Kate. So I said, ‘Okay, we’ll just go in the next room, and we’ll run some lines and I’ll video it.’
“And he said, ‘You mean, I’m reading?’ I said, ‘Yeah’. He said, ‘Oh, I don’t read.'”
The filmmaker continued: “I shook his hand and said, ‘Thanks for coming by.’ And he said, ‘Wait, wait, wait. If I don’t read, I don’t get the part? Just like that?’
“And I said, ‘Oh yeah. Come on. This is a giant movie that is going to take two years of my life, and you’ll be gone doing five other things while I’m doing post-production. So, I’m not going to f*** it up by making the wrong decision in casting. So, you’re going to read, or you’re not going to get the part.'”

The 32-year-old actress – who recently split from her former footballer fiance Scott Sinclair, 33 – told her followers via her Instagram Story: “I’m probably babbling but yeah that really irritates me, when people are just mean to mums.
“I won’t go into the conversation too much because it’s just too long, I just get really really annoyed when people aren’t nice to mums.”
Helen began her message with the admission that she has “emotional outbursts” sometimes, before sharing that she loathes feeling “uncomfortable” due to judgement from strangers.
She said: “I’m quite good I think at controlling my emotions, I’m quite busy, but I always have emotional outbursts when I’m due on …

“I didn’t have Matilda young but youngish and I’ve always gone everywhere with my kids, like flown with them, trains, hotels and I’ve just literally always gone where I want to go.
“I just don’t like it when you get people who basically are being rubbish towards you because you’ve got kids and you’re a mum, basically giving you the evils.”
Last month, the former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star and her ex Celtic FC footballer fiance Scott went their separate ways after 13 years together.

Chloe Ferry ‘devastated’ as doctor says she ‘needs a skin graft’

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Ferry has been left “devastated” after a doctor recommended she get a skin graft to fix a “botched” eye lift.
The former ‘Geordie Shore’ star is reluctant to have more surgery after she was left with a “dint” in her face following a ‘fox eye lift’ that went wrong.
The 27-year-old television personality told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’ve seen a consultant who says I need to have a skin graft – devastated.
“I didn’t want to have more surgery. I’m staying away from that. I was young when I had my boobs done. I’m getting older now.
“I wanted to start finding a husband – this is not what I wanted to be doing. It’s scary to think, ‘F****** hell, I have to go under the knife again?’ ”
Despite her despair, Chloe finds solace in things not being as bad as they could be.
She said: “I’m still devastated but I always think, to make myself feel better, how there is so much worse going on in the world.
“I always say about myself – I never big myself up – but I have lovely, nice skin. I had always been confident having nothing on my face but now I feel [self conscious].
“People will say it’s not that bad but when I’m sitting there and looking at it, it’s always a million times worse – it’s not just a scar, it’s a dint.”
In August, the ex ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star – who has spent more than £50,000 on cosmetic surgery and procedures – said the eye lift was one of the “biggest mistakes” of her life.
Chloe said: “It’s probably one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made. I really regret it. I’ve had a traumatic seven months and it could’ve been avoided.
“I’ve been going through hell since I had it done. I’ve always had really good skin, I never get spots and now I have this dent on my face. It’s permanent.
“It has actually ruined my life and made me so insecure. I can’t leave the house without make-up.”
“I don’t know why I got it done in the first place, because people kept telling me I didn’t need it – it just made me want to get it done more.
“Now I keep thinking, ‘Why have I done this to myself?’ It’s made me so self-conscious, and really affected me mentally. I’ve been botched.”

Jennifer Metcalfe would ‘absolutely love to have more kids’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Metcalfe has looked into freezing her eggs because she would “absolutely love” more children.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ star already has five-year-old son Daye with her ‘Geordie Shore’ star ex Greg Lake, 38, but would be keen to extend her brood to “five or six” if the conditions were “right”.
The 39-year-old actress told The Sun newspaper: “I’d absolutely love to have more kids. I’d like to have five or six, but the time and person I’m with would have to be right.”
Jennifer detailed how she got a check on her fertility and is considering getting her eggs frozen.
She said: “I know I want to have more children, so I had my eggs tested about three or four years ago.
“I was so young then and I had a lot of eggs, which was great. But apparently the number can drop at any point — and quite dramatically.
“I’m reaching 40 next year so maybe I will have them frozen. Judging by the logistics I really should, because I’d love a massive family.
“Daye always asks me, ‘Mummy, can you have a baby boy or a baby girl?’, and I reply, ‘I don’t know darling, hopefully I can’.
“I’m in no rush to meet a partner to have kids with, so I would consider adoption, or any other ways of having a child.”
Jennifer – who has played Hollyoaks’ Mercedes McQueen since 2006 – admitted her co-parenting agreement with ex Greg is “as perfect as it can be”, and says she and Daye “have such a lovely life in Manchester”.
She said: “Greg lives in Newcastle, so Daye visits him every other weekend. We both have our child’s best interests at heart ultimately, so whatever that brings, it brings.”

Idris Elba: Luther film will keep TV elements

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba has promised that the tone of the ‘Luther’ TV series will be preserved in the film.
The 50-year-old star will reprise his role as detective John Luther on the big screen but explained that he wanted elements of the television programme to remain as the character makes the transition to the movies.
Idris told Empire magazine: “I wanted to make sure that even though we had a bigger budget, (we didn’t) distort the parameters of ‘Luther’-land too much.
“We do amplify the actions the action and do amplify the stakes. But (Season 3’s) man-under-the-bed moment? That don’t cost you much money. Those moments are still intact.”
Idris felt that taking his alter ego into a new medium gave him the chance to delve deeper into the character.
The ‘Beast’ star said: “We really peel the onion back here because we had the time and scale to do that.
“It also gives Neil (Cross) a lot more, you know, ‘Luther’-land to play with, in terms of where Luther can go, how he goes, what the landscape is.”
Idris revealed that the film would move away from the show’s London setting.
He explained: “We break out of the gritty streets of London, we take it outside of that a little bit. And that’s great. It feels like now we’re entering a different life of the ‘Luther’ experience.”
Elba has expressed hope that the movie proves to be the start of his own James Bond style franchise as he has often been tipped to play 007.
He said: “It’s incredible, it’s like graduating. The television show ran a natural course, we did five seasons and each one of them shape-shifted but kept an audience captivated for 10 years.
“I’m hoping that this movie literally becomes my Bond, everyone talks about Bond but, for me, it’s ‘Luther’.”

I’m A Celeb camp hit with two COVID-19 cases days before final

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ camp has been hit by two COVID-19 cases.
The ITV reality show has tightened its COVID-19 safety measures after two members of the production team tested positive for the virus, just days ahead of the final on Sunday (27.11.22).
A spokesperson for ITV told OK!: “We can confirm a couple of production team members have tested positive for coronavirus. The protocols we have in place for such an eventuality have been implemented and filming has continued as we adhere to all covid guidelines.”
They added: “We have stringent measures in place across site, safety is paramount on the show.”
Fortunately, the final will still go ahead.
Chris Moyles became the sixth contestant to be eliminated from the camp on Thursday’s (24.11.22) episode.
Upon his exit from the Aussie jungle, the former BBC Radio 1 DJ quipped that he can’t believe former Health Secretary Matt Hancock is more popular with viewers than he was.
He said: “I’m gutted that Matt Hancock is more popular than me. What the bejeezus is going on?”
However, it’s an experience he’ll never forget.
He laughed: “I’m the only person leaving camp with more fear than when they went in!”
Chris, 48, added: “I’d often be the last one to bed and I’d walk back into camp after going to the dunny and I’d just stare at it like, this is amazing, but it is a massive privilege to do it. I can’t tell you the feeling of it.”
When asked who he’d like to see crowned King or Queen of the Jungle, he said either ‘Hollyoaks’ star Owen Warner, Lioness Jill Scott or former rugby star Mike Tindall.

David Walliams’ BGT future ‘up in the air’

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams’ future on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ is “up in the air”.
The 51-year-old comedian is rumoured to be stepping away from the judging panel of the next series of the talent show – on which he has appeared since 2012 – but
programme bosses have insisted no decisions on the line-up have been made yet.
A spokesperson said: “The judging panel for Britain’s Got Talent 2023 will be announced in due course.
“It’s still very much up in the air at the moment on whether David is going to take part in next year’s show. No decision, though, has been made as yet.”
Auditions are not due to begin for another two months so it is believed none of the judging panel, which also includes Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and Alesha Dixon, are currently officially contracted to the show.
Questions were raised about David’s future on the show after “disrespectful comments” he made about ‘BGT’ contestants in a recording of an audition show at the London Palladium in January 2020 were leaked, prompting him to apologise.
According to a leaked transcript, he called one contestant a “****”.
Of another, he said: “She’s like the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to f*** them, but you don’t.”
He reiterated: “She thinks you want to f*** her, but you don’t.”
The ‘Little Britain’ star then added: “I know, she’s just like, ‘Oh, f*** off!’ I was saying, she thinks you want to f*** her, but you don’t. It’s the last thing on your mind, but she’s like, ‘Yep, I bet you do!’ ‘No I don’t!’ ”
David insisted the conversations were “never intended to be shared”, but said sorry.
He said in a statement: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2020. These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”

Margot Robbie took shots before filming Wolf of Wall Street nude scene

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie had a “couple of shots of tequila” before filming her nude scene in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’.
The 32-year-old actress starred as Naomi Lapaglia alongside Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort in the 2013 black comedy crime film, and the opening scene required her to bare all in just stockings and heels, for which, she confessed she required some Dutch courage to calm her nerves.
She said: “I’m not going to lie, I had a couple of shots of tequila before that scene because I was nervous – very, very nervous.
“Honestly, I know it sounds silly now, knowing how big the movie became, at the time I thought, ‘No one is going to notice me in this film.’ It kind of doesn’t matter what I do in this film because everyone is going to be focused on Leo and everything.”
Margot also revealed the movie’s director Martin Scorsese told her that “every great movie” has a stair shot.
The ‘Barbie’ actress said she’s passed on the tip to every director she has worked with since.
Speaking at a ‘Life in Pictures supported by TCL’ talk at BAFTA this week, Margot shared: “We were shooting the shot where I’m running up the stairs, and he turns to me and goes, ‘Every great movie has a stair shot.'”
The ‘Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey’ star added: “I’ve told so many directors since that Martin Scorsese says every great movie has a stairwell shot, so get the stairs in there.”
