‘I think we will!’ Vic Reeves expects reunion with comedy pal Bob Mortimer

OHMYGOSSIP — Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer have discussed reuniting for a “one-off show” at Wembley Stadium.
The comedy duo have appeared on several shows – including BBC game show ‘Shooting Stars’ – over the years, but they haven’t shared the screen since ‘Vic and Bob’s Big Night Out’ in 2019.
While Vic – whose real name is Jim Moir – has admitted they haven’t spoken “much” of late, the pair haven’t fallen out and he is confident they will reunite.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’ve spoken to him [Bob]. And he’s going, ‘I don’t know.’
“Because he likes fishing and I like bird watching. It would be great to do something though.
“We wouldn’t do ‘Shooting Stars’, we’d probably do all the other stuff.
“I hope we do something together. I think we will.
“We never speak much.”
In June, Bob told how he and Vic had “drifted apart”.
During an appearance on the ‘RHLSTP’ podcast, he said: “I got on great with Jim, but no, we’re both doing our own little things at the moment.
“We had a lovely time, but you get older.
“I wish I’d done more with Jim, you know, when we were younger, because now, we have drifted apart.
“As I get older, I think of all the lovely people I’ve known and don’t see them anymore – it just seems to happen.”
Vic previously admitted he “never really speaks” to his comedy partner anymore.
During an interview with Radio Times, he said: “We never really speak much. Bob and I have never been ones for talking on the phone.
“[I’ll] see him now and then and have a chat about things.”

Michelle Visage, Charlotte Riley and Steph McGovern join BBC comedy Smoggie Queens

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Visage, Charlotte Riley and Steph McGovern are to star in a new BBC comedy.
The trio are among a star-studded cast who will appear in ‘Smoggie Queens’, which is based around a group of pals who are fiercely proud of their North Eastern town of Middlesbrough.
‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ judge Michelle said: “Filming ‘Smoggie Queens’ was an absolute joy, and I am so excited for everyone to meet Elaine, an uptight office assistant, who I had so much fun playing – wait until you meet her!
“The script is brilliant, the costumes are amazing, and I loved being amongst Middlesbrough royalty for the day! I’m an official Smoggie now!”
‘Peaky Blinders’ star Charlotte added: “Being back in Teesside working with Phil and the team on this incredible project has been the most awesome experience. Not sure I’ve met a more funny and fabulous cast.
“We had the best laugh ever making this show and I can’t wait to watch it. Just so, so grateful I got to be a part of it.”
The six-episode series will tell the story of self-styled hun Lucinda, who is played by former ‘Coronation Street’ star Alexandra Mardell, volatile Dickie – portrayed by show writer and Middlesbrough native Phil Dunning – drag queen Mam (Mark Benton), awkward Sal (Patsy Lowe) and newcomer Stewart (Elijah Young) as they navigate love, life and their pride for a town that feels neglected.
Michelle, Charlotte and TV presenter Steph are all part of the supporting cast, as is ‘Ted Lasso’ and ‘Corrie’ star Bill Fellows, and fellow actors Lauryn Redding, Peter McPherson, Neil Grainger, and Michael Mather.
Phil added: “I feel so stupidly lucky that such an incredibly talented cast agreed to come and be part of ‘Smoggie Queens’.
“They were an absolute dream to work with and I’m in awe and adulation of every single one of them.”
‘Smoggie Queens’ will be coming to BBC Three and iPlayer this Autumn.

Jameela Jamil joins Netflix’s People We Meet on Vacation movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jameela Jamil is among the stars to have been cast in Netflix’s ‘People We Meet on Vacation’ movie adaptation.
The 38-year-old actress will be joined by the likes of Lucien Laviscount (‘Emily in Paris’), Lukas Gage (‘Smile 2’) and Sarah Catherine Hook – who is due to appear in the third season of HBO’s drama ‘The White Lotus’ – in Netflix’s upcoming adaption of author Emily Henry’s 2021 novel of the same name.
Directed by ‘The Hero’ filmmaker Brett Haley and written by Yulin Kuang, the picture will star Tom Blyth and Emily Bader as longtime best friends Alex and Poppy who take yearly holidays together, only to suddenly stop talking to one another for two years.
The couple’s relationship is thrown into question when Poppy reaches out to her old pal to convince him to take another vacation with her, and the pair soon find themselves wondering whether they are more than just friends.
Jamil is best known for her appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ – in which she starred opposite Tatiana Maslany – and has also been seen in ‘DC League of Super-Pets’, ’Harley Quinn’ and ‘Star Trek: Prodigy’.
Aside from her roles in Hollywood’s major superhero and sci-fi franchises, the actress previously revealed she was hoping to join the ‘Star Wars’ saga.
Speaking to SFX magazine, she said: “I’ve done DC, I’ve done the MCU, I’ve now joined ‘Star Trek’, so it feels only natural that I should at least be allowed to do catering at ‘Star Wars’.
“I’ve been referring to it as my nerd EGOT – that would be the ultimate dream come true and fulfil every 12-year-old fantasy I had.”
Jamil teased she was hoping to be cast as a villain in the franchise because she “really [loves] playing the bad guy”.
The actress said: “I’d take literally anything, but I think a villain. I do really love playing the bad guy.
“I enjoy complex characters who start off as mentally unrelatable, who we can find the relatability of.
“Right now we are so divided. We almost seek to misunderstand each other. If we don’t understand each other, we’re never going to be able to find a way back to one another.
“That’s something that I’m very drawn to, helping people understand people who are different to them. And so I’m into playing the villains.”

Jennifer Kent rules out a sequel to The Babadook

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Kent has revealed a sequel to ‘The Babadook’ is unlikely.
The beloved horror movie – which stars Essie Davis, Daniel Henshall and Hayley McElhinney – is celebrating its 10th anniversary but its 55-year-old director has admitted there probably won’t be a follow-up flick because she is “too involved” with other projects.
When Screen Rant asked Kent if a sequel was on the table, she said: “No, I think I’m too involved in other films that I’m trying to get made.
“I mean, if there suddenly became some desperate urge to tell a story related to that, I would probably say, ‘Okay, all bets are off. I’m going to go and make the sequel.’ But I just can’t see that happening. I feel that the idea has really been explored.”
‘The Nightingale’ director then teased she was currently working on some horror projects for both the big and small screen.
She said: “There are other sort of scary films in the wings, one in particular that I’m really invested in happening, and also a horror series that I’ve been developing, which I’m really excited about as well. So those ideas are taking over.”
To mark ‘The Babadook’s 10th anniversary, the picture is due to return to cinemas in U.S. for a limited run from Thursday (19.09.24), and the director emphasised that she is “enormously grateful” to see how popular her film has become.
She told Variety:”I’m incredibly fortunate that my first film was remembered. It’s being shown on 500 screens 10 years on, whereas when it started, it was on two.
“I feel enormously grateful to that film. I don’t tend to look back once I’ve finished a film. It’s done. I put everything I have into it and I want to move forward. So I haven’t thought that much about it, but I’m really grateful.”

‘It wasn’t to be’ Joey Essex and Jessy Potts split 7 weeks after leaving Love Island villa

OHMYGOSSIP — Joey Essex and Jessy Potts have split up, seven weeks after leaving the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The former ‘TOWIE’ star, 34, and the 25-year-old brand partnerships associate met on the ITV2 dating show during the summer and forged a relationship, which continued when they left the villa.
However, the pair have now confirmed they have gone their separate ways.
Joey told The Sun newspaper: “Unfortunately, we have decided to call an end to the relationship but I hope we can continue to be friends.
“I truly wish Jessy the very best with whatever she does in the future.”
Jessy admitted she is “grateful” to everyone who supported her and Joey’s romance, but it “wasn’t to be”.
She added: “I appreciate the ‘Love Island’ experience I had with Joey, we tried to make it work but it wasn’t to be.
“I’m so grateful to everyone who supported us and look forward to all of the exciting opportunities ahead.”
Last month, Joey was forced to call in police after he received 100,000 messages, including an apparent death threat to Jessy, from an alleged stalker.
He told the publication: “We have had to take the decision to report the stalker to the police because the messages have started to become more threatening.
“I love my fans and want to be able to talk to them online but there has to be a line somewhere and sadly this is it.”
Joey’s team is said to have noticed the messages during his recent stint in the ‘Love Island’ villa, but the notes, which are said to include private messages and posts underneath his social media posts, are said to have become a “cause for concern” since he started dating Jessy.
A source close to Joey said: “Joey loves his fans and being able to engage with them online so is used to receiving messages.
“Of course they’re not always nice and he does get trolled, but after being in the public eye for so many years he’s got used to dealing with that side of it.
“But when he was in the ‘Love Island’ villa his team noticed a real uptick in messages from one user in particular and most of it is nonsense.
“Since he met Jessy, though, they have grown increasingly frightening with some targeted, physical threats and it’s become cause for concern.”

Esther Rantzen feeling ‘much better’ than she thought amid cancer diagnosis thanks to new drug

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Esther Rantzen is feeling “much better” than she thought she would be amid her terminal lung cancer diagnosis.
The 84-year-old TV presenter was given the diagnosis last year, but the star admitted her cancer is being kept “at bay” for now thanks to a new drug.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she said: “I’m much better than I thought I would be, because I’ve got one of these amazing new drugs which seems to be holding the cancer at bay, to my surprise.”
Esther has been campaigning to give people greater end-of-life choices in the UK, and she is hopeful of change even if it doesn’t happen in her own lifetime.
She said: “Even if it doesn’t happen in my time, I do hope that other people in my situation will be given the choice.
“That’s all I ask, to shorten their death, if that’s what they want.”
Esther previously met with Labour leader and now-Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to discuss a free vote by MPs on assisted dying.
Ahead of the election, which saw him become PM, Starmer told Esther that he was “personally committed” to changing the laws surrounding assisted dying.
And now, Esther is “impressed” that Starmer, who has vowed to try to get a vote on legalising assisted dying before Christmas, has remembered their conversation.
She said: “I’m very, very impressed that given all the challenges you know, national and international, he remembers the conversation we had before the election, in which he made it clear that this is something he does feel very strongly about, that the law at the moment is unsatisfactory.
“Being a lawyer himself, I think he thinks it’s important that laws should be just and fair and clear, which this one is not.”

X Factor star Ben Thapa dead at 42

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘X Factor’ star Ben Thapa has died at the age of 42.
The singer found fame as a member of vocal quartet G4 on the first series of the ITV show in 2004 and the group revealed the tragic news of his passing in a social media post.
They wrote on Instagram: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother and great friend, Ben Thapa.
“Words cannot express how we all feel right now…
“We understand that this will be heartbreaking news for so many others too and we send your love and support as we all remember the amazing man and memories that he has left behind.
“Ben has been such a major part of the international singing community and he was a critical part of our journey as a group.
“Thank you for your love at this difficult time.
“RIP Ben xxxx.”
Artist management company Steven Swales paid tribute on their website, writing: “We are hugely sad to announce the death, after a short illness, of Ben Thapa. It was a huge privilege to know and work with him.
“Ben was well known for his performances in oratorio, opera and as a member of the vocal group G4. He will be missed by so many, and we send our thoughts to his family, friends and colleagues.”
G4 – consisting of Ben and bandmates Jon Ansell, Matt Stiff and Mike Christie – were runners-up on ‘The X Factor’ and secured a £1.5 million album deal with Sony for their operatic versions of pop songs.
Thapa left the group in 2018 but continued performing solo.
His cause of death has not yet been revealed, although Ben had posted a picture of a dialysis machine on Instagram last week.
He captioned the post: “Meet my new dialysis friend. What shall we call them? X”

BBC team with Married At First Sight producers on Stranded On Honeymoon Island

OHMYGOSSIP — BBC is launching a new dating series ‘Stranded On Honeymoon Island’.
The broadcaster is teaming up with Snowman Productions – the company behind ‘Married At First Sight’ – on a new reality TV format which sees 12 “unlucky-in-love singles” matched into couples and “stranded on a deserted island”.
In a press release, the BBC teased: “In this bold and original new adventure dating format, six couples are matched by experts and then immediately after committing themselves to each other in an intimate ceremony, will be dramatically abandoned in idyllic isolation for the adventure of a lifetime.
“On these remote beaches, fledgling relationships are soon put to the test as the couples live together and fend for themselves with few resources.
“Marooned and alone, they must communicate and collaborate to get by, with nowhere to run when the going gets tough.
“Will an escape from modern life bring them closer together or push them apart? Will it lead to love or loathing?”
The show is being produced by CPL Productions, who have also worked on ‘Married At First Sight UK’, ‘Love Is Blind UK’ and ‘A League of Their Own’.
Applications are open now, and the BBC are “thrilled” to be bringing the show – which was first aired in Belgium, before subsequent versions in Germany, Portugal and more – to the UK.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of entertainment, said: “This unique new dating series will see couples who have previously been unlucky in love being paired up and sent straight on their honeymoon with no phone, no apps and no contact with the outside world – let’s see if they can make it work on their desert island and find love.”
Murray Boland, CPL Creative Director, added: “We are incredibly excited to be bringing this show to the BBC. It’s a bold and innovative format but it also has heart and soul.
“CPL takes great pride in the relationship reality formats it produces and Stranded On Honeymoon Island feels like a very special commission.”

Zoe Saldana wants to direct James Bond movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Saldana would like to direct a ‘James Bond’ movie.
The 46-year-old star is keen to move her talents behind the camera, and the ‘Emilia Perez’ actress would “love to start” that phase of her career with an “action-heist” blockbuster.
Speaking at Toronto International Film Festival, she told TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey: “I’ve never seen a woman direct ‘James Bond’. I like ‘The Equalizer.’ I watch crime shows, and, so, maybe in the future.
“I’ve always been drawn to heist themes. ‘Heat’ is a film that I need to watch at least once a year and analyse it, and the way that Michael Mann just pairs it all together, the way that everybody performed it.
“So, I would love to start with an action-heist sort of thing.”
Saldana is keen to make sure she doesn’t get “boxed in” as an artist, pointing to the way Ang Lee’s breakthrough film was 1995’s ‘Sense and Sensbility’, which actually marked his first entirely English-language movie.
She added: “But I never, never box myself in. I can do anything. Just like Ang Lee did ‘Sense and Sensibility,’ correct? I can also do a Jane Austen one day. You never know.”
Regarding her work in front of the camera, the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actress discussed her roles in James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ movies, which has used technology in a way that “gives way for the performer to take pride and priority over his or her entire performance”.
She explained: “We’re not lending our voices. We’re not doing any of that. In 2009, Jim, as usual, was ahead of his time.
“He’s a scientist at heart, so he’s creating things that people need time to understand. He helped me realise that I should be okay with that.
“And at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if people will get it. ‘Avatar’ will live forever, and it will inspire people for generations to come. So that’s his legacy, and I’m a part of that.”

Elizabeth Olsen ‘happy to come back’ to MCU ‘if there’s a good way’ to use character

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Olsen is “always happy to come back” to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) – if there is a “good way” to use her character.
The 35-year-old star has portrayed Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, in two ‘Captain America’ films, three ‘Avengers’ movies, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and the TV series ‘WandaVision’.
Olsen would be up for a return if the story was right, but she claims Marvel bosses “didn’t know what to do” with her alter-ego “for a second”.
Speaking to FM104, she said: “It’s a character that I love going back to when there’s a way to use her well, and I think I have been lucky that when I started I was used well.
“I think people didn’t know what to do with me for a second there … if there’s a good way to use her I’m always happy to come back.”
In August 2023, Olsen admitted she needed “other characters” in her life as well as Wanda.
She told The Times newspaper: “I’m trying to figure out… Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel.
“I don’t want … it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character.
“But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance.
“I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them come together in the way I feel like they can.
“But yeah, that’s something that I need. I just need other characters in my life. There’s no longevity in one character.”
Her comments come after Olsen previously advised other actors to only sign up for one Marvel movie at a time.
Speaking in May 2023 on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, she said: “Just give them one – that’s what I say.”
Olsen explained: “Let’s say you’re like, ‘Oh my God, this was the most fun I’ve ever had, and I love this character so much I want to do it again,’ you now have more creative control for the next one.”

EastEnders to go live for 40th anniversary and viewers can vote on plot outcome

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ is to go live for its 40th anniversary next year – and viewers will be able to decide the outcome of a storyline in a first-of-its-kind twist.
The BBC One soap will celebrate its 40th birthday in February, and the corporation have confirmed there will be a live episode broadcast from BBC Elstree Centre as part of the anniversary week celebrations.
There will also be an interactive element to the special episode, in which viewers can choose the outcome of a love story.
While the characters involved are yet to be revealed, the cast and crew will be able to adapt the scene to portray whatever the public has voted for.
Speaking about the live episode, Chris Clenshaw, EastEnders’ Executive Producer, said: “The 40th anniversary is a milestone event for EastEnders, and we have been planning this week for a long time to ensure that it’s a week full of drama and surprises.
“In fact, as our regular audience will know, we have already seen the return of familiar faces and have many more nods to our history to come which will all build up to our momentous anniversary week. This time, as well as going live, we are adding an extra twist and for the very first time in the history of the show and as a gift to the viewers, we are giving the audience the power to have their say in choosing the outcome of one of our storylines.
“Whilst we’re still keeping the finite details of the 40th close to our chest, I can promise that it will be an unmissable week full of shocking twists that will change Albert Square, and the lives of those who live in it, forever.”
It’s not the first time ‘EastEnders’ has aired a live episode.
The show first went live in 2010 for the soap’s 25th anniversary, and in the special it was revealed Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) killed Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb).
Five years later, ‘EastEnders’ went live again for the 30th anniversary.
There was a set of five episodes that all included live elements, as the Who Killed Lucy Beale whodunit was revealed.

‘I’ve had the time of my life’ Peter Ash bows out of Coronation Street as Paul Foreman passes away

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Ash has issued a heartfelt goodbye to ‘Coronation Street’ fans, after he bowed out of the ITV soap on Monday night (09.09.24).
The 39-year-old actor’s character Paul Foreman tragically passed away in an emotional episode this week after losing his battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), and Peter thanked fans for all their support since his cobbles debut in 2018.
In a video posted to Corrie’s X page, he said: “So, my time on ‘Corrie’ has come to an end.
“I just want to say – thank you to everyone for the support you’ve given me over the years and with the storylines I’ve done. I really appreciate it.
“We’d be nothing without our fans, so thank you very much.
“I’ve had the time of my life filming ‘Corrie’.”
While Peter has enjoyed his time on ‘Coronation Street’, he is “excited” about what’s next for him.
He added: “I’m going to miss everybody, but I’m excited to see what’s next [for me].
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everybody for watching.”
In Monday night’s ‘Corrie’, Paul was rushed to hospital, but his husband Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) couldn’t see his partner in the tragic moment of his death.
Peter was recently nominated for the Serial Drama Performance at the upcoming National Television Awards.
He will face stiff competition from ‘Corrie’ legend David Neilson (Coronation Street) as well as EastEnders pair Angela Wynter and Diane Parish, and Emmerdale’s Eden Taylor-Draper.
In July, ‘Coronation Street’ aired an episode devoted to a day in the life of MND sufferer Paul, which was shown entirely from his perspective, with a voiceover from Peter.
The ep was dedicated to the memory of Rugby League legend Rob Burrow, who died from Motor Neurone Disease in June age 41.

Sheridan Smith ‘returning to Gavin and Stacey’ for ‘brilliant’ scenes

OHMYGOSSIP — Sheridan Smith is expected to return to ‘Gavin and Stacey’ for the last-ever episode.
The 43-year-old star portrayed James Corden’s on-screen sister Rudi in the second and third series of the comedy show, and she is said to have shot scenes for the upcoming Christmas special, which will be the programme’s final episode.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “She is an incredible actress and stepped straight back into Rudi’s shoes.
“It was like no time had passed at all.
“Sheridan was over the moon she could go back into the fold and her scenes are brilliant.”
Last week, James took to Instagram to reveal filming had started on the Christmas special, and a day later he told how the cast and crew were shooting in Barry Island for one last time.
In July, the star admitted he had “finished” writing the script for the final time, after he and co-writer Ruth Jones – who plays Nessa in the comedy – confirmed in May they were bringing the series back for a Christmas Day outing.
Speaking on ‘The Chris Evans Breakfast Show’ on Virgin Radio, James grew emotional as he said: “Last night we were like ‘oh that’s it now. We’ve finished. We’ll never write anything that Pam says again.
“We’ll never write interior Gwen’s house. We’ll never come up with an interesting thing that Bryn’s done.’
“We just looked at each other and we were like ‘wow – isn’t that amazing?’ ”
James previously revealed he and Ruth had been making the final touches to the script for the festive episode, but finding the time was tricky because of their respective stage commitments.
Speaking on Capital Breakfast, he said: “It’s written right but now we’re doing rewrites. So we have to, we have to remove some time, we have to change some bits around.
“So we’ve been doing that, it’s quite tough because Ruth’s in ‘Sister Act’ over in the West End at the minute, and I’m doing ‘The Constituent’ at the Old Vic.”

Waterloo Road star Rachel Leskovac ‘gutted’ about co-star’s departure

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Leskovac was “gutted” when Angela Griffin left ‘Waterloo Road’.
In the first episode of the new series, it’s revealed that Kim Campbell, played by Angela, has left the school to travel the world with Andrew Treneman (Jamie Glover) following his proposal at the end of the previous season, and Rachel misses acting alongside the former ‘Cutting It’ star.
Reflecting on her co-star’s departure, Rachel told OK! magazine: “I was gutted on a personal level that Kim has left because I love working with Angela so much.
“Angela brings a certain energy, and she has a knowledge of the show, too. She’s the heart of the series, but luckily Angela is still here directing some episodes.
“But change is tradition with Waterloo Road and hopefully people who have watched the show since the start won’t be too upset because headteachers come and go.
“That’s part of the structure of the show.”
Embracing the change, Rachel will reprise her role as English teacher Coral Walker in ‘Waterloo Road’, and she is thrilled to be back.
She said: “‘Waterloo Road’ is the best telly job I’ve ever had.
“It’s amazing to be able to delve deeper into a character, especially one like Coral who’s been on such a journey. I’m so lucky to be a part of the show.”
Taking over from Kim’s role is Steve Savage, who is played by stand-up comedian Jason Manford.
Speaking about the dynamic change, Rachel explained: “So Steve has come from a very different background to Kim, she’s always putting the children first.
“Coral is more onboard with Steve than some of the other characters. She likes the traditional way that he works in, and Steve always gets the job done.
“Jason has some very big storylines which affect all of us. I think people are really going to like him.”

Nicholas Galitzine joins 100 Nights of Hero cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicholas Galitzine is to star in ‘100 Nights of Hero’.
The 29-year-old actor has joined the cast of the adaptation of Isabel Greenberg’s graphic novel of the same name that Julia Jackman is directing.
A feminist fairy tale inspired by ‘Arabian Nights’, ‘100 Nights of Hero’ centres on two women, Cherry and Hero, who are in love with each other.
Cherry is married to a man named Jerome, who makes a bet with his lecherous friend Manfred that Manfred can seduce Cherry within 100 nights.
If Manfred is successful, Jerome promises to give Cherry to him. However, Cherry isn’t interested in his advances and devises a plan with Hero – who tells him stories over the course of 100 nights to distract him from his seduction attempts.
Nicholas is set to play the role of Manfred in the picture that is to begin shooting this month.
Galitzine starred opposite Anne Hathaway in the romcom ‘The Idea of You’ and dismissed comparisons between his boyband heartthrob alter ego Hayes Campbell – who falls for 40-year-old single mother Solene Marchand (Hathaway) in the film – and pop sensation Harry Styles, who has had romances with older females.
He told Variety at Vanity Fair’s Oscars Party: “It’s funny because it’s not a comparison that I’ve ever made. But people really like to make it. Hayes Campbell, the man I’m playing, is a very different character and we want him to exist in his own world.”
Nicholas learned a lot during the making of ‘The Idea of You’ and hopes that it can lead to more musical opportunities in the future.
He said: “I feel like I learned a huge amount about myself working on this.
“It was an incredibly steep learning curve.
“I am setting some things in motion already. I definitely have an eye to the future for this sort of stuff.”

Destin Daniel Cretton set to direct Spider-Man 4

OHMYGOSSIP — Destin Daniel Cretton is in talks to direct ‘Spider-Man 4’.
The ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ filmmaker is set to helm the new movie in the Sony and Marvel Studios franchise that will once again feature Tom Holland as the web-slinging hero.
The movie will continue from the successful trilogy that featured Tom and Zendaya and were directed by Tom Watts.
Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are once again writing the script with Marvel chief Kevin Feige and former Sony boss Amy Pascal producing.
Insiders say that ‘Spider-Man 4’ is set to begin filming in the early months of next year although it is not clear what the story will be after the 2021 flick ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ concluded with the world forgetting that Holland’s Peter Parker was Spider-Man after a memory wipe.
Cretton is an established superhero director as his ‘Shang-Chi’ movie was well-received while he was also set to helm ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ but stepped away last year due to the picture’s changing production schedule.
Tom revealed earlier this year that he was desperate to return for more ‘Spider-Man’ movies because the superhero franchise had changed his life.
The 28-year-old star told Deadline: “The simple answer is that I’ll always want to do more ‘Spider-Man’ films.
“I owe my life and career to ‘Spider-Man’. So the simple answer is yes. I’ll always want to do more.”
The ‘Uncharted’ actor revealed that there is a caveat as the plot for the fourth film would have to be right as he has “a legacy to protect” following the success of the trilogy he fronted.
Tom said: “We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.”
