Jennifer Metcalfe says Hollyoaks cancer storyline was like ‘therapy’ after losing dad

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Metcalfe says her ‘Hollyoaks’ cancer storyline helped her grieve for her late father.
The 41-year-old actress was only a teenager when she lost her dad to bowel cancer and in upcoming episodes of the E4 soap, her character Mercedes McQueen is battling the deadly disease.
Jennifer says that despite the scenes being extremely emotional to film, it was like “pure therapy” for her after going through the loss of her parent.
She told The Sun: “My dad died of bowel cancer when I was 15 so I lived through it with him, which is why I wanted to do this storyline as well.
“You can get some people that go, ‘I can’t do that because I went through that and I don’t want to tap into that’. I’ve never grieved for my dad. That’s like pure grief what we watched there. Pure therapy and the rest of it.”
The soap has teamed up with the charity Bowel Cancer UK to make it as realistic as possible and they highlighted the pressure the NHS is under as Mercedes has her treatment delayed due to a shortage in a chemotherapy drug.
One part of filming that left Jennifer distraught and feeling “vulnerable” was when she wore a bald cap.
She recalled: “I spent four hours in prosthetics for the bald cap and really invested serious time. Them guys are so incredibly talented. As they were doing it at the end I was like, I can’t even look at myself in the mirror because I feel like I’m a woman sat here with cancer.
“I felt so sad for how I looked, for how women must feel in her position and the look at myself with no hair like that. It felt really vulnerable. The minute that bald cap arrived and the scripts came, so amazing. There was very little work for me to do.”
Jennifer struggled to hold back her tears filming the heartbreaking scenes.
She said: “There was barely a scene I could do, even if I wasn’t talking about the cancer, without just standing there and welling up for myself because I just felt so vulnerable.”
Jennifer insists she is unsure what the future holds for Mercedes on the show, but her main aim is to raise awareness and the ways to check for signs of bowel cancer.
She said: “I just trust whatever tale Hannah [Cheers, Producer] and the show want to tell for that character will be the right decision.
“If they want to choose that Mercedes doesn’t survive this, I know that will be the right decision for the show.”

‘I’m excited about the idea of it…’ James Buckley is up for Inbetweeners reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — James Buckley wants an ‘Inbetweeners’ reunion.
The 37-year-old actor shot to fame thanks to his role as foul-mouthed teenager Jay Cartwright in the sitcom and two spin-off movies, starring alongside Joe Thomas, Simon Bird and Blake Harrison as his hapless friends Simon Cooper, Will McKenzie, Neil Sutherland.
Joe, 40, recently claimed that talks had taken place with the writers Damon Beesley and Iain Morris about bringing the comedy back, and James would have no hesitation in returning as Jay.
Speaking on his ‘At Home With The Buckleys’ YouTube channel, he said: “I know as much as everyone else. It’s exciting though, I’m excited about the idea of it. I read about it in the paper, I was like, ‘Bloody hell, it’s brilliant.’ In talks. No one’s talking to me. Let’s see what happens.
Joe spilled that ideas had been pitched about the four friends returning for more misadventures and he thinks if the story is good enough then fans will get an ‘Inbetweeners’ reunion.
Appearing on the ‘Always Be Comedy’ podcast, he said: “All of us feel it would be nice to do.
“We’re all still around, we’re all still in each other’s lives. We all still like each other. And if it was something that came up, I think we would want to do it.
“I feel like we all still really like each other.”

James Cameron to direct Last Train from Hiroshima once he finishes Avatar

OHMYGOSSIP — James Cameron is set to direct a movie adaptation of ‘Last Train from Hiroshima’ after finishing work on the fifth ‘Avatar’ film.
The 70-year-old director is currently working on the next three instalments of the sci-fi franchise, though it has now been revealed Cameron will be helming a film adaptation of Charles Pellegrino’s 2015 novel of the same name – as well as the author’s upcoming book ‘Ghosts of Hiroshima’ – which features eye witness accounts from Japanese civilians and American pilots who saw atomic bombs devastate Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II.
The picture is said to follow a Japanese man who survived the detonation at Hiroshima in 1945, only to board a train to Nagasaki and experience the same horror again.
The ‘Terminator’ director told Deadline: “It’s a subject that I’ve wanted to do a film about, that I’ve been wrestling with how to do it, over the years. I met Tsutomu Yamaguchi, a survivor of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki, just days before he died.
“He was in the hospital. He was handing the baton of his personal story to us, so I have to do it. I can’t turn away from it.”
While visiting Yamaguchi, Cameron and Pellegrino vowed to “pass on his unique and harrowing experience to future generations” through the picture.
Cameron is currently focused on his next blockbuster ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ and its two sequels – which are slated for release in 2029 and 2031 respectively – and had insisted he wouldn’t drop out of the series unless he gets “hit by a bus”.
When The Hollywood Reporter asked the ‘Titanic’ filmmaker if he was still planning to helm the franchise past the third instalment – which will hit cinemas on 19 December 2025 – he said: “Sure. Absolutely. I mean, they’re going to have to stop me.
“I got plenty of energy, love doing what I’m doing. Why would I not? And they’re written, by the way.
“I just reread both of them about a month ago. They’re cracking stories. They’ve got to get made. Look, if I get hit by a bus and I’m in an iron lung, somebody else is going to do it.”

Tyler, the Creator making feature film debut alongside Timothee Chalamet in Marty Supreme

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyler, the Creator is due to make his feature film debut in ‘Marty Supreme’.
The 33-year-old rapper – whose real name is Tyler Okonma – will star opposite Timothee Chalamet, 28, in the upcoming A24 flick, which is said to be loosely inspired by the story of professional ping-pong player Martin ‘Marty’ Reisman.
The picture will be directed by Josh Safdie, while the ‘Good Times’ filmmaker is also set to write the script with Ronald Bronstein.
As well as the ‘Dune’ star, the ‘Yonkers’ rapper will be joined by Gwyneth Paltrow – appearing in her first movie role since 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ where she played Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) long-time partner Pepper Potts.
The 51-year-old Hollywood star had portrayed the character for 11 years after debuting in 2008’s ‘Iron Man’, though had previously admitted she was happy to retire from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after finding she was “a bit old” to be a part of the superhero franchise.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar magazine, she said: “I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit … I feel very lucky that I did it, because I actually got talked in to it. I was friends with [‘Iron Man’ director] Jon Favreau.
“It was such a wonderful experience making the first ‘Iron Man’ and then to watch how important it has become to the fans.”
The ‘Shakespeare in Love’ Oscar-winner – who is now focused on her lifestyle brand Goop – added she felt like her time as one of Hollywood’s leading ladies was over because she “really burned [herself] out” acting.
She explained: “When I was acting I really burned myself out … I really got to the point where even the little things, like sitting in the van going to set, getting your make-up touch-ups, and everything – I really don’t know that I can bear it.”

Gok Wan dreams of living abroad

OHMYGOSSIP — Gok Wan says his dream is to live abroad.
The former ‘How To Look Good Naked’ host – who recently turned 50 – isn’t interested in slowing his life down and has many ambitions he wants to fulfil, including relocating to another country and maybe even develop his musical career further.
In an interview with OK! magazine, Gok – who was born in Leicester to an English mother and Chinese father – said: “Maybe not! I’d also like to move to another country for a while, and maybe start a business. I would like give up fashion, but there are other areas I’d like to explore. I feel like I’ve only just scratched the surface with the music and there are artists who really inspire me who I’d love to work with, so that might be on the list.”
Gok admitted that he might actually have “regrets” – such as not spending enough time with his loved ones – after declaring he didn’t have any for years.
He said: “I spent my whole life saying, ‘No, I don’t have any regrets,’ but then I realised I was just quoting some affirmation! So actually, there are regrets, but they come from a positive place and they’ve made me action things in my life. So maybe putting my job and not my family first is a regret, but it made me stop and make time for family. Now that I’m older and wiser, I’ve started regretting, but I only allow myself to regret the stuff I can do positive things about.”
Now he is 50, Gok admits he would tell the younger version of himself to “stop worrying” and just get on with it.
He said: “Yes, probably to stop worrying about everything and just get on and live. Be present in your life, because the only stuff you worry about is stuff that either hasn’t happened yet, or isn’t going to happen, so you’re filling your life with anxiety. I think I’ve done that all my life but as I’ve got older, I’ve taught myself not to do it as much.”

Coronation Street’s Bethany Platt left with stoma and sepsis after botched liposuction

OHMYGOSSIP — Coronation Street’s Bethany Platt will be left fighting for her life after a cosmetic procedure in Turkey goes disastrously wrong.
This autumn, Bethany – played by Lucy Fallon – makes the decision to undergo liposuction after accepting a job with a cosmetic surgery company to write an advertorial on their new facility in Turkey.
Viewers will see Bethany in a critical condition after contracting sepsis as a result of a botched procedure, leading to have to live with a permanent stoma.
Next week in the ITV soap, Bethany’s boyfriend Daniel (Rob Mallard) receives a phone call from a Turkish number and is informed that Bethany is in intensive care. He then finds her mother Sarah (Tina O’Brien) and informs her of the news and says the pair need to travel to Turkey immediately.
Due to issues with travel insurance, Bethany cannot leave the country until her medical bills are paid and Bethany wakes up to be told by Sarah that she’s been fitted with a stoma bag and will have it for the rest of her life.
Daniel then decides to create a crowdfunding page, hoping people will donate and help pay for the medical fees.
Lucy, 28, says the storyline comes with a lot of responsibility because so many people have travelled abroad to have cosmetic procedures only for things to go horribly wrong.
She said: “When I first heard about it I was pleased that they have trusted me with it because it’s an important storyline and of course I really enjoy doing issue based storylines. Obviously, this is really hard-hitting, which is exciting from an actor’s point of view, but it does come with quite a lot of pressure and responsibility to get it right because this happens to real-life people.
“The storyline is also incredibly important as there’s countless horror stories out there of people talking about their experiences of cosmetic surgery abroad. I really hope this storyline can make people rethink going abroad for cosmetic surgery.”
‘Coronation Street’ took the decision to feature a character living with a stoma bag as just over 200,000 people in the UK (1 in 335 of the population) have one. Each year, between 13,500 and 21,000 operations are carried out on the NHS leading to stomas being formed.
The plot comes as the UK has seen a significant rise in patients seeking corrective treatments from botched cosmetic surgeries performed abroad.
A study compiled in 2023 highlighted the number of people needing hospital treatment in the UK after getting cosmetic surgery abroad increased by 94 per cent in three years, with procedures carried out in Turkey accounting for more than three quarters.
The same study also revealed a growing number of people who are returning to the UK with complications ranging from wound healing problems to life-threatening sepsis.
The ‘Coronation Street’ creative team has been working closely with Colostomy UK to ensure the storyline will be told as accurately and sensitively as possible.
Giovanni Cinque, Marketing and Campaigns Manager at Colostomy UK, said: “We’re really excited that one of the UK’s most loved TV shows is going to feature a major character living with a stoma.
“Even though public awareness has grown considerably over the last few years thanks to a number of celebrities revealing they have had surgery, the challenges that the 200,000 plus people living with a stoma in the UK face are less known, which means that we as a society and as individuals are not as aware as we should be of the choices that we can make to positively improve their quality of life.
“We really hope that Bethany’s journey will go a long way in helping to educate the audience, and thus help to create a more Stoma Aware UK. It’s also been a pleasure for us to work with the behind-the-scenes teams at Coronation Street on this story.”

‘He is paying his way…’ Sir David Jason says Only Fools and Horses’ Del Boy is a role model

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Jason has described his most famous character Del Boy as an “honest crook” who wants to work hard for his family.
The 84-year-old actor played Derek Trotter in the beloved BBC sitcom for 22 years and the show’s popularity still hasn’t waned 21 years after it stopped airing.
Del Boy was always making a living selling “hooky” gear and cheeky cons, but David insists his heart was in the right place because he just wanted to earn a few quid to look after his younger brother Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and his family, which included Uncle Albert (Buster Merryfield).
The TV legend is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “What is nice about that character is he’s always on for an earner. The reason for that is, obviously, to keep the family going, to pay his bills. In one way he’s a bit of wheeler dealer and getting anything cheapskate but he is paying his way. He’s an honest crook, if you like.”
In the show, Del Boy was always avoiding being collared by the police for flogging his goods in the market and did his best to never pay any income tax or VAT, words which were immortalised in the sitcom’s theme song.
Despite ending two decades ago, ‘Only Fools and Horses’ is rarely off TV screens thanks to repeats and streaming services and David admits it’s hard for him to go anywhere without being mobbed by fans desperate for a selfie and a chat.
He previously said: “Del Boy is a character that I can’t avoid. He’s become so ingrained in the public’s mind that where I got, I tend to be recognised and then what happens is that people can’t help but interfere with your private life.
“It’s part of the job. It’s part of giving your time and your life to the Great British public, God bless them.”

Ferne McCann and fiancé Lorri Haines had sessions with intimacy coach

OHMYGOSSIP — Ferne McCann and her fiancé Lorri Haines saw an intimacy coach after their sex life dried up in the wake of the birth of their baby.
The former ‘TOWIE’ star and Lorri, 33, welcomed daughter Finty into the world in July 2023, and since her arrival the couple have been sleeping in separate bedrooms which has reduced time for intimacy between them.
Ferne has now detailed how she and Lorri sought out specialist help because they went months without getting it on.
In an interview with Heat! magazine, she said: “It was really insightful. We did lots of different activities that weren’t actually talking about sexual stuff, but it was more communication techniques and exercises that you can transfer into the bedroom. Also, we don’t share a bedroom, and I do think that played a big part in it, because when you’re in a bed together, you’re there and it’s easier. But, like with anything in life, if you want to make something work, you just need to give more attention to it, and make the time.”
Ferne – who also has six-year-old daughter Sunday with her her imprisoned ex Arthur Collins – insists her and Lorri’s bedroom issues are common for parents of babies.
She said: “I think most parents will agree that when you have a baby, sex goes out the window and it isn’t a priority. When you’ve got kids, fish, dogs and you’re filming a TV show and running a business, the months fly by! It was getting to the point where I was like, ‘We need to do it,’ and it was becoming a bit more of a chore. So, we went to an intimacy coach.”
Ferne also praised Lorri for being a “hands-on” dad and even remarked she thinks that he even likes parenting solo.
She said: “He’s so hands-on, and he’s an amazing dad. I had a night out with the school mums recently and I think he quite liked having the girls with him just by himself.”
Meanwhile, Ferne recently announced on her Instagram page that her ITVBe reality series ‘Ferne McCann: My Family and Me’ is ending after 13 series and seven years on air.
The show began as ‘Ferne McCann: First Time Mum’ and was retitled in 2023 when Ferne had Finty.
Her post read: “After an incredible 13 series I have made the very difficult decision that this series of @fernemyfamandme will be my last.
“Where do I begin? Firstly by saying a huge, huge thank you to each one of you that have watched my show and been on our family journey with us.
“This show has been such an incredible part of my life for the last seven years and what a ride it has been filming from being pregnant with Sunday to now. Your support and loyalty to me and my family has, at times, lifted me more than you will ever know. Thank you.
“From the day I started filming I have poured my heart and soul in to the series. I genuinely feel like I’ve laughed, cried, loved and lived with you, sharing all the ups and downs.
“This decision hasnt been an easy one but it feels like now is the right time for a change. I made this decision with my children (especially Sunday who has been on this full journey with me) in mind. They are my absolute priority and Sunday is now at an age where she is very much her own little person and I want her to go out there and take her own path.
“@potatoitv and @itvxofficial @itv team are incredible and over the years have become part of the family too thankyou so much for this wonderful opportunity. it’s not lost on me how incredible this has been and I will cherish these memories and moments that I have been lucky enough to have captured forever.
“I am eternally grateful to every single person who has watched the show, supported us and been there through it all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
“New chapters await. Please enjoy series 13: it is my biggest and favourite one to date. Out this Wednesday on ITVBE 9pm and ITV X.”

Amy Dowden says Strictly Come Dancing return is ‘such a celebration’ following her cancer fight

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Dowden says being back on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is a “celebration” following her breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
The 34-year-old professional dancer was forced to take a break from the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition after being diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023, and she is thrilled to be heading back to the dancefloor this year with her celebrity partner, JLS singer JB Gill, 37, after going into remission.
In an interview with Closer magazine, she said: “It’s been such a celebration. It’s so lush. I feel like I’m home. We’ve worked so hard over the last few weeks on spectacular group numbers, I’m just so excited for the 20th year to be hitting your screens.”
Amy – who was supported during her battle by her friends and family and especially her husband Ben Jones – is extremely proud to be back as there were times during her cancer treatment where she never believed she would be able to dance again.
She said: “It’s so surreal. I can’t believe the place I was in this time last year to what I am now. There were so many times when I didn’t think it was going to be possible. I’m just really proud of myself. I hope it gives others going through treatment hope and courage.”
Amy has been previously paired up with stars like McFly’s Tom Fletcher, 39, ‘EastEnders’ actor James Bye, 40 and many more, and she has advised this season’s crop of celebrities to “enjoy every second” of their time on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, despite what judges Shirley Ballas, 64, Craig Revel-Horwood, 59, Motsi Mabuse, 43, and Anton Du Beke, 58, may have to say about their ballroom skills.
She said: “Your going to be taken on a ride of a lifetime. It’s fabulous, it’s fun and it’s full of sparkle. Just embrace and enjoy every second of opportunity of a lifetime. And don’t take yourself too seriously – just go out there and enjoy it.”

Ian ‘H’ Watkins leaves Celebrity MasterChef

OHMYGOSSIP — Ian ‘H’ Watkins has exited ‘Celebrity MasterChef’.
The 48-year-old singer – who is best known for starring in the pop group Steps – has become the latest contestant to leave the BBC show, after he failed to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace during the latest round.
After his exit was confirmed, H said: “I have had the craziest, most amazing time.
“Thank you for changing my life. Seriously. I mean it – bless you, bless you.”
The chart-topping pop star actually gave the judges a hug after the decision was announced.
H also admitted that he had exceeded his own expectations during his time on ‘Celebrity MasterChef’.
He said: “I am absolutely amazed that I even made it this far.
“There’s a little bit of me that would have loved to carry on, but I’m so proud of myself. I’ve learned so much, you know, I can filet a fish. I can make pasta. I can cook a lobster.
“I will tell you, I will be eating out every night this month…”
H previously revealed that he was looking forward to challenging himself on the BBC show.
The singer shared: “I wanted a challenge to sink my teeth into.
“I am known by my friends and family for not being able to cook up until this point! When it comes to cooking, I’d say that I’m an expert with the air fryer and the microwave, so I wanted to take on ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ to develop a skill that I could involve my children and family with going forward.”

Tulisa Contostavlos to make TV comeback on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Tulisa Contostavlos is set to take part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The 36-year-old singer – who reunited with her band N-Dubz last year – reportedly feels “the time is right” to return to primetime TV, 10 years after she ended her stint as a judge on ‘The X Factor’, and producers thinks she is the right person to draw in a young generation of fans to the jungle-based competition series.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Tulisa has been on ITV’s hit list for a while but until now she’s never wanted to consider it.
“This year is a decade since she left ‘The X Factor’ so she felt the time was right to return to the TV spotlight — the amazing reception to the N-Dubz reunion tour really helped build her confidence.
“Crucially for ITV, the breadth of her career means that she will appeal to I’m a Celebrity’s wide audience.
“As well as everyone knowing her from ‘The X Factor’, her original music fanbase has boomed thanks to the N-Dubz reunion tour.
“TV bosses are particularly excited by the new wealth of fans in the crucial 16 to 24 age range who have discovered Tulisa and the band through TikTok and everyone hopes the deal is signed soon.”
It seems Tulisa has had a change of heart because she previously insisted she wouldn’t take part in such a reality show in case it damaged her musical credibility.
She said back in 2019: “I steer clear of them because it’s hard to keep being a credible musician when you start delving into that.
“Although there are loads that make me go ‘that would be so much fun’, and MasterChef is definitely one! Because I’m such a huge cook in my spare time.”
A spokesperson for ”I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ declined to comment as to if Tulisa would be taking part.
They simply said: “Any names suggested for ‘I’m a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here!’ are speculation.”

David Schwimmer could have been a ‘movie star’ if he hadn’t snubbed Men in Black

OHMYGOSSIP — David Schwimmer thinks he would have been a “movie star” if he hadn’t turned down ‘Men in Black’.
The former ‘Friends’ star still doesn’t know if he “made the right choice” when he rejected an offer to star in the 1997 blockbuster but noted his career “would have taken a very different trajectory” if he hadn’t passed on the film.
David admitted he had been faced with the “brutal” decision of either signing up for ‘Men in Black’ or directing his first movie during a break from his ‘Friends’ filming schedule and ultimately opted for the latter.
Speaking on the Origins With Cush Jumbo’ podcast, he said: “[It] was a brutal decision. I had just finished filming ‘The Pallbearer’, my first film with Gwyneth Paltrow, and there were high expectations of that which didn’t come true.
“It was kind of a bomb but there were high expectations and the studio which was Miramax wanted to lock me into a three-picture deal at a fixed price and I said I would do that if I got to direct my first movie.”
Following months of negotiations, the studio agreed David “would act in three more movies for them” in return for being able to “direct [his] entire theatre company in the first film”, 1998’s ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’.
He continued: “All these unknown actors but I was going to put them on the map, basically. I was going to let everyone discover the talent of this amazing company.
“We found this amazing script and we were developing it. We started pre-production. All my best friends in the world in my theatre company quit their jobs so they could be in this film over the summer, which was going to be a six-week shoot in Chicago.”
Just as things were in motion, the offer for ‘Men in Black’ – which ultimately starred Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones – came in.
David recalled: “We’re in pre-production, hired the whole crew, everything’s going and that’s when I was offered ‘Men in Black’.
“It was a direct conflict with this. My summer window from ‘Friends’ was four months. I had a four-month hiatus and ‘Men in Black’ was going to shoot exactly when I was going to direct this film with my company.
“And of course, it was an amazing opportunity. … However, my theatre company and that relationship with all those people would probably have ended. I don’t think it would have recovered.”
The 57-year-old actor doesn’t know if he “made the right choice” but firmly believes “you have to follow your gut, you have to follow your heart” in such situations.
He added: “Look, I’m really aware, whatever 20 years later maybe more, [‘Men in Black’] would have made me a movie star.
“If you look at the success of that film and that franchise, my career would have taken a very different trajectory.”

The Sims movie produced by Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley confirmed

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Sims’ movie is officially in the works with Margot Robbie and husband Tom Ackerley set to produce the film.
After teaming up on the blockbusters ‘Barbie’ and ‘Saltburn’ last year, the couple – who were recently reported to be working on a ‘Monopoly’ movie – have been confirmed to be producing the adaptation of the popular EA video game under their LuckyChap Entertainment banner.
The video game giant has joined forces with Amazon MGM Studios on the flick, which is being helmed by Kate Herron – whose directing credits include ‘Loki’ and Sex Education’ – and she will co-write with Briony Redman.
EA Entertainment president Laura Miele told Variety: “Teaming up with renowned Hollywood powerhouses, this exciting new chapter for ‘The Sims’ will bring its magic to millions more fans.
“It’s a testament to the enduring power of this beloved franchise, which has captivated more than 500 million players for a quarter of a century. Our commitment to innovate across ‘The Sims’ universe of experiences and products will inspire all generations of Simmers.”
EA Vice President and General Manager of ‘The Sims’ franchise Kate Gorman has detailed what fans can expect from the movie, and says they are aiming to emulate the success of 2023’s ‘Barbie’ movie, which was the biggest-selling movie of the year.
She began: “What I will tell you is it’s very much rooted in ‘The Sims’ universe.
“And what we want is to have a truly authentic ‘Sims’ experience brought to a theatrical release. So what you’ll see from us is that we have been wanting to get this right. We wanted the right partners and to make an impact the size of something like a ‘Barbie‘ movie is exactly what we want. And we know there’s so much love and nostalgia, probably beyond what we would even realise, for ‘The Sims’ and so many people like us have played throughout generations. So we want this to be an experience that reflects all that amazing history and play of so many people in this world, but also is something that you can share across generations and to be part of pop culture and culturally relevant.”
Kate promised an “authentic ‘Sims’ experience” that appeals to all generations, even those not familiar with the simulation games.
She went on: “You will see a lot of ‘The Sims’ universe come to life and you will see a lot of the classic experiences that our players have in the games come to life in the movie.
“And that’s what we really want to deliver on, is just an authentic ‘Sims’ experience, and really have the most expansive ‘Sims’ offering we’ve ever had to bring that delight and share the experience of playing ‘The Sims’ with so many people or their friends or families who may not have actually played ‘The Sims,’ but you can help tell that story through watching a [movie] about ‘The Sims’ universe.”
Kate suggested they are still in the ideas phase, but fans can expect Freezer Bunnies, pools without ladders and more.
She said: “We haven’t finalised any of those details. But that’s the idea, is to say that it lives within this space. It’s a nod to all of the amazing play and creation and fun that people have had over the last 25 years within ‘The Sims’.”
As for whether the Sim’s will use their Simlish dialect, she teased; “It’s fun. It’s a great idea, and it’s something we’ll definitely talk about.”

Janette Manrara claims fellow Strictly pros gossiped that she would be ‘awful’ on the show

OHMYGOSSIP — Janette Manrara heard “whispers” from other ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professionals that she wouldn’t “do well” on the show.
The 40-year-old dancer and host of sister show ‘It Takes Two’ has claimed she started doubting her abilities when she found out her colleagues and people “behind the scenes” at the scandal-hit BBC One show were allegedly gossiping about her lack of Ballroom Latin experience.
Recalling her early years on ‘Strictly’ at the launch of her book ‘Tiny Dancer, Big World’, she is quoted by Metro.co.uk as saying: “It was my first year on Strictly, I really wanted the job. I didn’t think I would ever get the job because I didn’t compete in Ballroom Latin. I didn’t have all the titles that the rest of the dancers had on the show. So when I actually got the job, I thought, ‘My gosh, this is the best thing in the world.'”
Janette – who is married to ‘Strictly’ pro Aljaž Škorjanec – joined ‘Strictly for series 11 in 2013 and was partnered with fashion designer Julien Macdonald.
She went on: “With Aljaž, at the time we were just dating. So I thought, ‘Gosh, we can stay together. Of course, I’m gonna say yes.’ Then when it started, Julien, who’s here, was my first partner ever on the show. He’s still my friend.’
“I always felt I knew I could dance and I knew I could teach, and I knew I could choreograph, I know I can. But when you get put on that level of exposure with everyone waiting for you to fail, because I had heard whispers from other professionals and other people behind the scenes, ‘She’s never going to do well. She’s going to be awful. She’s not even a Ballroom Latin dancer. How is she ever going to do this?’
‘And it was just like, I started believing it. I started believing ‘I don’t know if I can do this’.”
Janette says her now-spouse had a completely different start to his ‘Strictly’ career and admits she feared she would be dropped because she was “not good enough”.
She said: “Aljaž coming on the same year as I did, being the hottest man on the show, and getting Abbey Clancy, who was phenomenal, she could do anything that woman. He had such a different trajectory than I did.
“It was hard, because I thought, I’m not good enough. I’m not going to survive this show. I can’t teach a celebrity, clearly I’m not a good enough choreographer. All those things really kicked in, and I just felt like I wasn’t enough, and I was ready for the next year to get the phone call that I’m not coming back, because I just assumed that was the case.”
Janette stepped down as a dancer on the show – which has been under investigation amid accusations of bullying – in 2021 to replace Zoe Ball on BBC Two’s ‘It Takes Two’, which she co-hosted with Rylan Clark before he was replaced by Fleur East.

BBC ramps up security after Gavin and Stacey spoiler leak

OHMYGOSSIP — The BBC is ramping up security on the ‘Gavin and Stacey’ set after a major leak.
The beloved sitcom is returning for one last episode this Christmas with filming currently underway, but bosses are having to be extra careful after a photo of co-creator and star James Corden holding his script on location at a department store accidentally revealed a big plot point.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Everyone is excited for the return of Gavin, Stacey, Smithy and the gang so naturally interest is at an all-time high.
“Every day fans are flocking to the filming sites in Cardiff and Barry Island to see the cast filming and take their own photos and selfies.
“It’s a challenge trying to keep key storylines under wraps but the cast have been reminded to be on alert.”
Now, the cast and crew – including Joanna Page (Stacey), Ruth Jones (Nessa) and Mathew Horne (Gavin) – have all been told to keep their scripts closely under wraps.
‘Love, Actually’ star Joanna recently admitted that having fans flock to the set during filming has made her “feel like a pop star”.
Speaking to ‘EastEnders’ star Natalie Cassidy, 41, on their ‘Off The Telly’ podcast, the 47-year-old actress said: “It’s mad. You pull up in the car and get out and the crowd just go ‘Wayyy’, and you genuinely feel like a pop star or something.
“So I’m enjoying myself for now, because I know that when it finishes I’ll be going home to my four children, who’ll be like, ‘Mummy mummy can I have my tea, mummy I want this I want that,’ so I’m enjoying being fussed over, because it’s not going to last for long.”
Joanna has been having “so much fun” shooting in Wales with the rest of the cast, including Alison Steadman, 78, Larry Lamb, 76, and Rob Brydon, 59.
She said: “Oh my god it’s so much fun. I’m laughing absolutely loads. It’s just mad though, it’s absolutely mad.”
