Love Island 2023 lineup REVEALED!

OHMYGOSSIP — The full line up of this year’s winter edition ‘Love Island’ has been announced.
The hit reality show will return to ITV2 on Monday (16.01.23) for its ninth series with 25-year-old makeup artist Lana Jenkins, ring girl Olivia Hawkins, 27, biomedical student Tanya Manhenga,22, hair stylist Tanyel Revan, 26, as well as 20-year-old payroll administrator Anna-May Robey all heading to the South African villa to find love.
Anna-May – who hails from Swansea – said: “I want a boyfriend; I want to find someone who makes me laugh. I’ve been single for quite a while, my mother is bugging me, she’s like, ‘You need to find a boyfriend.’ I’m just excited to try something new and I think going on Love Island is a good way to meet someone. I went on a date once and I never saw him again. We went for food and shared a bottle of wine. As I was speaking to him, he fell asleep! I had to clink his wine glass to wake him up!”
The girls will be joined by airport security officer Shaq Muhammad, 24, who is hoping to meet the “love of his life” in the villa, along with financial advisor Ron Hall,25, who promises to bring “fun and charisma” to the show as well as TV salesman Haris Namani, 21, who has “never taken a girl home” before, single but “caring” science teacher Kai Fagan, 24, and farmer Will Young, 23, who has struggled to find love because of his profession.
Will – who is from Buckinghamshire – said: “Having grown up on a farm, it’s been quite difficult juggling relationships and work. Love Island will give me time away from the farm to solely go out and find love. I think I’m at the time of my life where I’m mature enough to go and find a wife. Every night I light a candle and meditate for 20-25 minutes. A girl I was seeing told me to meditate, I tried it and loved it. I stopped seeing her and carried on meditating! It’s a nice way to self-reflect, taking a minute on my day/ week. It’s really nice and sets me up for a nice sleep!”
The upcoming series of ‘Love Island’ will be the first to be hosted by former ‘Celebrity Juice’ star Maya Jama, 28, following the departure of Laura Whitmore.
‘Love Island’ starts at 9pm Monday 16 January on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

Maya Jama didn’t tell her mum about Love Island job

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama didn’t tell her mum she was the new ‘Love Island’ presenter for fear of the secret coming out.
The 28-year-old star will host the ninth series of the ITV2 dating show, after taking over from Laura Whitmore in the role, but she decided against telling close family about her new position because she didn’t want it to be revealed prematurely.
Asked if it was hard keeping it a secret, she said: “Really hard, especially when there’s loads of rumours flying around.
“I’m not a good liar. Even my mum I didn’t tell because she’d get too excited and tell people. So I had to not even tell my close family.”
Maya was in New York when she found out the news and admits she “swore loads”.
The star has since celebrated her new job on several occasions, and plans to do so even more celebrating when the upcoming South Africa series is complete.
She said: “I celebrated with different people each time. I celebrated with who I was around when I found out, then I celebrated when I got back to London.
“I feel like I’ll celebrate more after it’s done, then we can be like, ‘Yay we did it!’ rather than getting too excited before it’s happened.”
Maya was confirmed as the new ‘Love Island’ presenter in October.
The show’s official Instagram account shared a video of someone scrolling through headlines linking her to the role, only to reveal Maya herself with a signature ‘Love Island’ water bottle and suitcase.
The team wrote: “Okay, the rumours are true. Say hey to your brand-new #LoveIsland host @mayajama!”
She replied to the announcement: “SO BLOODY EXCITED! GET ME ON THAT ISLAND (sic)”
‘Love Island’ returns on Monday (16.01.23) on ITV2 and ITVX.

Nicolas Cage’s Dracula is inspired by Christopher Lee

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicolas Cage took inspiration from Christopher Lee for his take on Dracula.
The 59-year-old actor takes on the role of the iconic vampire in Universal’s upcoming movie ‘Renfield’ – which sees Nicholas Hoult play Dracula’s devoted servant – and he turned to late legend Lee’s Hammer Horror films to help craft his interpretation of Bram Stoker’s character.
He told Collider: “Well, I had a lot of help. There were a ton of super-talented people on that movie that helped design the look.
“We wanted it to be more homage, more Christopher Lee. I favored Christopher Lee as Dracula and I liked his kind of sixties hairdo, but the wardrobe, the costume, and no, I didn’t come up with the idea for the rings.
“That all came out of a wardrobe. They came in with all that. Maybe they sent something in me that I would like that, but that was really their contribution.”
Meanwhile, Cage admitted he doesn’t feature too heavily in the movie, and while he “didn’t have the time” to take too deep a dive into “Dracula’s pathos”, he still had the chance to put his own stamp on the character.
He explained: “Well, first of all, I don’t know how you say no to Dracula, but two things come to mind. One, he’s a character that’s been done well many times and then been done poorly many times. So you want to be on the side of doing something well.
“And also you want to be on the side of doing something fresh and something that pops. To me, because the movie’s really not about me, Dracula rather, I don’t have a lot of screen time.
“It’s really Nick Hoult’s movie, and it’s about Renfield. I didn’t have the time, like the two-hour narrative to really dig deep into Dracula’s pathos per se. It’s not that.
“But I did have enough screen time to be able to try to develop a pop-art style to the character that hopefully will be a nice contribution to the other performers that have done it, that have had their take on this legendary character in both literature and cinema.”

Paul Mescal ‘to replace Blake Jenner in Merrily We Roll Along’

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Mescal is to replace Blake Jenner in ‘Merrily We Roll Along’.
The ‘Normal People’ actor is to take on the lead role of Broadway composer Franklin Shepard in the musical movie, which will be directed by Richard Linklater.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will shoot over 20 years.
Stephen Sondheim provided the music and lyrics for the 1980s musical, which is based on the 1934 play of the same name by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart.
The musical tells the story of three pals and how their friendship changes over 20 years.
It mainly focuses on Shepard, who ditches his pals to become a Hollywood movie producer, and the story moves backwards in time from 1976.
Last week, it was revealed Mescal is set to star in Sir Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator’ sequel.
He is said to be in talks to take on the leading role of Lucius Verus, the son of Roman Empress Lucilla and the nephew of the villainous Commodus, who was played by Joaquin Phoenix in the original movie.
David Scarpa is writing the script, while Ridley will produce alongside Michael Pruss via Scott Free, and Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher via Red Wagon Entertainment.
The sequel is set to start filming in Ouarzazate, Morocco in May and it is hoped original star Russell Crowe will make an appearance in flashbacks as his character Maximus from the original 2000 epic.
The first movie – which also starred Derek Jacobi, and the late Oliver Reed in his final role – won five Academy Awards, including the coveted Best Picture accolade and Best Actor for Russell, as well as a string of other gongs including BAFTAs and Golden Globes.

Rock Till We Drop won’t return to the BBC

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Rock Till We Drop’ won’t be returning to the BBC.
The talent show – which was fronted by Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp and Lady Leshurr – aired on BBC Two last year, but it’s said bosses have decided against bringing it back for a second series.
A spokeswoman for the show told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “There are no current plans for ‘Rock Till We Drop’ to return.”
It’s said the BBC has insisted the four-part show was only ever intended to be a one-off series.
Meanwhile, a source said: “This was a talent show with a difference, because it gave people who had a gift a second chance to let it shine.
“Whether it was down to illness, family, tragedy or just bad luck, many of those taking part hadn’t had their dreams of becoming a performer realised.
“The only criteria they had to meet was that they were at least 64 years old – and in many cases they had applicants on the show who were far older.”
The show saw Martin and Leshurr bring together and mentor two groups, guiding them on their sound and image before the bands made their stage debut.
Before the show aired, Martin said: “I’ve been involved in music and bands since I was 16 years old, from a school punk band called The Defects, playing to just a few friends in small pubs and clubs, to Spandau Ballet enjoying every second of the sheer overwhelming thrill of walking out onto a festival stage in front of 50,000 fans!
“I can’t wait to share that experience with the lucky few who make it into my band… who for whatever reason, their rock dreams didn’t quite happen. I’m so excited to give them a chance of a lifetime to make those dreams come true!”
Leshurr added: “I’m super excited to be involved in ‘Rock Of Ages’ and cannot wait to get out there to start my search for the best musical talent the UK has to offer.
“Our band members will prove that age is no barrier and that no matter how old you are you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
“There’s so much incredible talent around and I can’t wait to go on this exciting journey with them.”

Jessica Henwick hails ‘generous director’ Rian Johnson

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Henwick thinks Rian Johnson is the “most generous” director she’s ever worked with.
The 30-year-old actress stars alongside Madelyn Cline, Daniel Craig and Kate Hudson in Rian’s ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’, and Jessica has revealed that she relished the experience of working with him.
The actress – who previously starred in ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ – told Total Film magazine: “On ‘Glass Onion’, my main concern was making Rian happy. This is his creation, his world, and he’s the kindest, most generous, caring director I’ve worked with. And I really wanted to feel like we did his film justice.”
Rian, 49, directed the original ‘Knives Out’ movie, which was released in 2019.
And Daniel Craig – who plays the part of detective Benoit Blanc – previously revealed that he would love to make another ‘Knives Out’ film.
The 54-year-old actor – who is best known for playing James Bond – said: “If he keeps writing them, I’ll keep doing them. That’s what makes it easy then, he’s such a wonderful writer that it’s there on the page for me to do.”
Rian also revealed that he’s keen to keep surprising his audience in the coming years.
He explained: “Part of the fun of these things is the idea that they’re not sequels, they’re completely new books and they’re completely new stories.
“To me, the idea for the next one – and I’m going to try to stay in this state of mind as I write it – it’s not about trying to top the previous one, it’s about just trying to create something that surprises us and thus hopefully will surprise the audience and thus delight the audience.”

Paul Mescal to star in Gladiator sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Mescal is set to star in Sir Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator’ sequel.
The ‘Normal People’ actor is in talks to take on the leading role of Lucius Verus, the son of Roman Empress Lucilla and the nephew of the villainous Commodus, who was played by Joaquin Phoenix in the original movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
A source previously told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “This has been building since 2018 and for a long time it looked like it may never see the light of day.
“But suddenly late last year the production team really sprung into life after settling on a new script which seemed to inspire them.
“A few months later everything was up and running and now it’s well underway.
“They should be filming by May, which means there’s every chance the movie will be ready some time in 2024.
“Either way, this would be a huge box office draw.
“It’s one of the biggest action films of its era and was a massive hit.
“People have been asking Ridley about a follow-up for years, so there’s clearly a massive appetite for it.”
The first movie – which also starred Derek Jacobi, and the late Oliver Reed in his final role – won five Academy Awards, including the coveted Best Picture accolade and Best Actor for Russell, as well as a string of other gongs including BAFTAs and Golden Globes.
Speaking in 2021, Scott insisted the ‘Gladiator’ sequel would be next on his list as soon as he finished work on ‘Napoleon’ – which stars Phoenix as the French military commander Napoleon Bonaparte and is due for release on Apple TV+ later this year.
He said: “I’m already having [the next] ‘Gladiator’ written now. So when I’ve done ‘Napoleon’, ‘Gladiator’ will be ready to go.”

Ozzy Osbourne’s reality TV fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne is nervous about a return to reality TV.
The 74-year-old Black Sabbath frontman and his family have signed a deal with the BBC for a series documenting their “new life back in the UK” but Ozzy is worried about it after their MTV series sent the family “crazy”.
The Osbournes’ reality show, the first of its kind, aired from 2002 to 2005 on MTV and featured the domestic life of Ozzy , his wife Sharon Osbourne, 70, and their kids Kelly, 38, and Jack Osbourne, 37, while their daughter Aimee Osbourne, 39, didn’t wish to take part and Ozzy admitted he is wary about a new show.
Speaking on his SiriusXM channel, Ozzy said: “I don’t know how the Kardashians have done it for so long. It sent us crazy at the end.
“I am not sorry I did it, but after three or four years I said, ‘Do you know what, we’re going to lose somebody because it is getting too crazy’.
“There is rock and roll fame, which is pretty intense, but that Osbourne level was just unbelievable. The kids paid for it. They all ended up doing drugs. Jack got clean and sober on that show, Kelly messed up on that show, I was messed up and Sharon got cancer.”
However, Ozzy insisted he will go along with the new show because Sharon insisted.
He said: “My wife sort of dropped something on me that the BBC are doing The Osbournes returning to England. I said, ‘We are not having all that again’. But she said it is only for a bit.
“It gave Sharon a new career. She has become the television person in our family.”

Lauren Goodger in talks for TOWIE return

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Goodger is in talks to return to ‘The Only Way Is Essex’.
Although the 36-year-old star made her last appearance on the ITV reality show in 2016, show bosses are keen for her to return as they believe she would be a huge hit with fans.
A source told The Sun: “‘TOWIE’ are always in talks with former cast mates with a view to bringing them back and Lauren is top of their wish list.
“She’s had chats with producers and while she hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet, the door is definitely wide open for her to come back.
“Lauren would be the big star of the show if she was to return, and Amy Childs’ comeback proved a huge hit with viewers, so watch this space.
“While the cast always has fresh members to bring new drama every series, the originals always bring a lot of buzz and bosses know a returning star it’s a sure fire way to bring back any lapsed viewers and spice things up.”
Lauren’s representative said: “There are lots of exciting things on the horizon for Lauren in 2023, including some big TV projects.”
Lauren joined the show as an original cast member in 2010 and left in 2012. She later returned for one season in 2016.
Since leaving the show, Lauren welcomed daughter Larose, 19 months, with former partner Charles Drury.
Sadly the couple tragically lost daughter Lorena in July 2022 after her baby was born with her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck.
Charles was then arrested, and subsequently bailed, over an alleged assault on Lauren following the little one’s funeral and Lauren was further devastated to discover her ex-boyfriend Jake McLean – who she dated from 2012 to 2016 – died in July following a car crash.
An insider said: “She has been working hard on her mental and physical health after a very tough year and looking forward to a brighter 2023.”

Cate Blanchett begs to work with Viola Davis

OHMYGOSSIP — Cate Blanchett has begged to work with Viola Davis.
The 53-year-old actress is such a huge fan of the 57-year-old star that she wants to “audition for the role of co-star or supporting actress or personal assistant to Ms. Davis in any project she has”.
Speaking at the Palm Springs Film Festival as she presented Viola with the Chairman’s Award, Cate said: “There’s some actors that you aspire to be, there’s some actors that you aspire to know, and some that you want to work with and learn from, hoping that some of the magic wisdom and stardust will rub off on you. Viola Davis is all three. Make no mistake, this is actually not a speech, it’s kind of an audition because I’m auditioning tonight for the role of co-star or supporting actress or personal assistant to Ms. Davis in any project she has. I’m Australian; I make a really good little coffee and, actually, I know how she takes it. It’s a black decaf, little bit of oat milk and a dash of cinnamon. I think I’m in.”
However, Cate admitted she hasn’t yet got a project for them to work on together.
She said: “I don’t have an idea but I just want to work with you. I’m selfish. I want some of Viola’s emotional power. I want some of her stardust, her effortless technical mastery and her constant access to the flaws that makes her characters so painfully human. I want some of her dignity, her grace, her old soul depth. And I want to look as fabulous as she looks in red on the red carpet. I want her deep throated, sometimes joyous, but always knowing, laugh. I want some of her sass. I want some of her ass. I just want some all of this to rub off on me, and I know I’m not alone. I know I’m joining a really, really long line, but I’m dogged and I’ll wait. It’s kind of creepy, but I will wait.”

Claire Foy ‘cringes’ over her auditions

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire Foy agonises about her acting auditions.
The 38-year-old actress has become one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood over recent years – but Claire still suffers from self-doubts.
She said: “Awful auditions have been too many to count.
“Every audition I’ve walked away from, I would cringe for days thinking about what I’d said and done.”
Claire recalled that one of her worst-ever auditions was for a role in the 2011 action-adventure film ‘Season of the Witch’.
She told Collider: “I think one of the worst ones was a film I actually got – which was quite ironic – was a film called ‘Season of the Witch’ with Nicolas Cage.
“I had to pretend to be exorcised by a priest with the devil inside me in a very, very small room in Soho in London. You would sit and have your audition, and on the other side of the door there was a girl who would look identical to you and she was waiting to go in.
“That was a real low.”
Meanwhile, Claire recently revealed that she hates the “strong female characters” description.
The acclaimed actress explained that she hates the description because it suggests that “all other female characters are weak”.
Claire – whose film credits also include ‘First Man’, ‘Unsane’ and ‘My Son’ – said: “I viscerally hate ‘strong female characters’. It says, what, all other female characters are weak? You don’t separate men like that.
“They’re allowed to be unlikeable, likeable, strong, weak, scary, cuddly, all sorts of different things.”

Millie Court reveals she is in therapy

OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Court has revealed she is in therapy.
The ‘Love Island’ winner – who split from co-star Liam Reardon last year – revealed that she has previously bottled up her feelings but she has learned to be more open since starting counselling sessions.
She said on Instagram: “I had my first session before Christmas and just that one hour opened up so much to me.
“Cliche as it might sounds but I’m solely focusing on my career as we’ve entered a new year and I can’t wait to treat my body and mind the way it deserves.
“Loving myself comes first.”
She later added details of how she found her therapist via the Counselling Directory website.
She wrote: “A lot of you asking in my dms about therapy… not knowing where to start or how to look etc.
“I used the website below, you put in your postcode and whether you want it in person or over the phone.
“It then shows you a list of counsellors in your area and a little bit about them/what they charge/what they specialise in.
“Don’t be afraid to take that step in speaking to someone, whether it’s big or small.
“You can then arrange a quick 15 minute phone call with your favourites on the list and see who you get the best vibe with/feel the most comfortable (or as comfortable as you possibly can).
“I’m not the type to open up and speak about how I’m feeling and I don’t like to burden people with my problems either (friends or family) so of course I didn’t feel that comfortable talking to her at first but just after one session I honestly felt so much better so I’m really looking forward to the next.”

Kai Widdrington hints at marriage plans

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’s Kai Widdrington wants to be with Nadiya Bychkova “for life”.
The 37-year-old professional dancer revealed he is smitten with his co-star and hinted at an engagement.
He told The Sun newspaper: “What can I say . . . we are very happy together and we don’t want this to end. Of course we want to be together for life, so we will see where it goes.”
Kai and Nadiya, 33, also opened up about how they first started dating in secret, when Kai finally asked the blonde beauty out for dinner after weeks of texting and phone calls.
He said: “I think I speak for most of the men in Britain when I say that they would find Nadiya absolutely drop-dead gorgeous — and I still have to pinch myself sometimes.
“We liked each other, and we were texting and having phone calls and so on, and yeah, it blossomed from there.
“Then one day I was like ‘do you want to go out for dinner?’, and it went from there.
“We knew that it would come out and that it would be a big thing, so we kept it private for as long as we could, which was both annoying and exciting at the same time.
“It was one of those things. We would go somewhere and only we knew we were there.
“Sometimes we would go out in disguise, or baseball caps pulled down low, etc, and we knew this period of time was only going to last a little bit.”
And, Kai has hinted that an engagement is on the cards.

Russell T Davies offers reassurance to Doctor Who fans

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell T. Davies has reassured fans ‘Doctor Who’ is still “the same show”.
The 59-year-old producer has moved to reassure viewers that nothing is changing with the sci-fi drama despite the fact it is now a co-production with Disney Plus, who will have the international distribution rights for the show while it remains exclusive to the BBC in the UK.
He wrote in the latest issue of Doctor Who magazine: “I know people are, naturally, worried about American producers having notes on things. Well, don’t be. They’re giving excellent notes.
“And I’m here to tell you, you haven’t watched a drama on British television in 20 years that hasn’t had American notes on it. Everything is a co-production… it’s really, completely normal.”
Russell teased season 14 of the show could even see obscure villain Mavic Chen – the President of the Solar System who was played by the late Kevin Stoney – make a reappearance.
He added: “And if you want any more reassurance, let me just tell you that we’re about to transmit the words ‘Mavic Chen’ on television for the first time since 1966. It is absolutely the same show.”
Russell recently dismissed reports the new partnership with Disney Plus had seen the show’s budget escalate to a staggering £10 million per episode.
He said: “That has been exaggerated. If that was the budget, I’d be speaking to you from my base on the Moon.
“That is not the budget, and I worry that misinformation like that creates false expectation. Nonetheless, we have a lovely, handsome budget, and we’re very happy with how we’re proceeding with it.”
Executive producer Jane Tranter added: “It’s a really good budget for us. But we are not ‘Game of Thrones’. Or ‘The Rings of Power’.”

Jeremy Clarkson closes controversial restaurant

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson has closed the restaurant on his farm.
The ‘Grand Tour’ presenter had faced a backlash from locals in Oxfordshire about the eatery, which he opened in a barn in a field on his Diddly Squat farm last July, and despite his initial defiance, which saw him find a “delightful little loophole” to keep the enterprise after it was closed by council officials for breaching planning laws, he’s now admitted defeat.
Jeremy wrote to West Oxfordshire District Council, who had ruled the restaurant was not in keeping with the rural area, and said: “I no longer wish to open a restaurant.”
The 62-year-old star admitted he had been “thwarted by the enforcement notice” and revealed he has sold most of the cows whose meat he had planned to use in the restaurant.
Local residents in Chipping Norton have welcomed the move.
Michael Benson, of Chadlington, told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “It is a win for the community. I would like the whole thing shut down. We are just a small village and Diddly Squat Farm is in the wrong place.
“We don’t need a theme park in an area of natural beauty. The new year was ridiculous. You’d spend about 20 minutes trying to get into town.”
Neighbour Lucy Walker added: “We have been plagued with traffic since he arrived. He caused massive upset with these restaurant plans. It’s just the arrogance of what he thinks he can get away with.”
But Parish councilor Ann Gate was supportive of the ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ star and wrote to the district council on behalf of “quietly supportive local residents”, arguing Jeremy had “used his celebrity status to highlight the difficulties of the farming community”.
