Heston Blumenthal engaged

OHMYGOSSIP — Heston Blumenthal is engaged.
Just three days after it was revealed the 56-year-old TV chef had split from his longterm love Stephanie Gouveia, it has been reported that he is engaged to wed Melanie Ceysson.
Heston told the Daily Mail newspaper’s Eden Confidential column: “I have found my other half.”
Stephanie and Heston wed in the Maldives in 2018 but the union was not legally binding.
A source told the paper: “Heston and Stephanie actually split up some time ago. Despite all the reports at the time, they were never married.”
Her representative said: “Marriage should be recognised by legal authorities. This wasn’t. What happened does not constitute a marriage in a legally binding sense.”
And Heston added: “I am going to get officially married to Melanie.”
Heston and Stephanie have a five-year-old child together, while he has three children with ex-wife, Zanna, who he divorced in 2016, following their 2011 split.
Heston and Melanie are believed to have been dating for the past few months.
Although he declined to share any details about her, the Daily Mail reports that she is believed to be in her 30s and has worked with him.

Sarah Lancashire thought she was the ‘wrong choice’ for Happy Valley

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Lancashire thought she was the “wrong” choice for the lead role in ‘Happy Valley.’
The 58-year-old actress has played the part of police officer Catherine Cawood in the acclaimed drama series – which returned to screens earlier this month after a break of seven years – since 2014 but admitted that in the first few weeks of filming, she was sure that show bosses had made a “mistake” with her casting.
She said: “People have been asking me for years if there will be a third series. It was all down to Sally Wainwright finding the time to write it. For the first three or four weeks, I kept saying ‘I’m wrong for this role, you’ve made a mistake!’. I couldn’t find a way of feeling comfortable – I just felt like an actor in a uniform. I was scared the accent was coming across as too bored. Maybe it was because I was slightly stepping away from my comfort zone that I never really felt comfortable with her – and that was probably a good thing in retrospect.”
However, the former ‘Coronation Street’ star went on to add that after watching the first episode, she thought the drama series was “terrific” and even though she has a “great admiration” for the police force, she could never really be an officer herself.
She told MyWeekly: “I thought it was terrific! The characters and the story were so engaging and really captured people’s imagination. I also think that the production value is very high on this. The feedback was that [real-life police] had never seen a police officer portrayed accurately and that Catherine Cawood was an exception.
“This has been down to Lisa Farrand, who was our police advisor. She is retired from the force now but she was a sergeant and whenever we had to do any sort of procedural stuff, Lisa was with me. I’ve great admiration for the police but I’ve learned I really don’t want to be a police officer. It’s interesting but it’s not for me! I also learned when I went out on call with them just how undermanned they are.
“But I’ve always said that ‘Happy Valley’ is not really about a police officer, it’s about a woman who is clearly very damaged by losing her daughter and is just trying to get by, day by day. She’s a bit screwed up, and I like that. We all are, whether we like to admit it or not. She wants revenge for her daughter, but she’s not doing it as a police officer. She’s doing it as a mother. And I admire the way in which she does the things she does.”

Mean Girls musical movie will have a ‘fresher palette’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Richmond and Tina Fey want the ‘Mean Girls’ musical movie to have a “fresher palette”.
The pair are adapting their musical for the big screen and composer Jeff revealed his hopes that the songs will attract a wider audience.
He explained to The Hollywood Reporter: “Right now, the day-to-day is more about the movie adaptation that we’re working on. We’re super involved with that. What we’re trying to do [with the movie] is take the score that sounds like a Broadway score — in a good way — and [give] the movie a fresher palette. To make it sound more like stuff you want to listen to on Spotify, as opposed to when you’re sitting eighth row at a Broadway show or the Pantages. It’s kind of making it a fresher, younger take on the whole thing. We’re kind of reinvented the music for the movie, so it’s really fun.”
Lorne Michaels is producing the movie for Paramount Pictures, with Tina penning the script and Jeff and lyricist Nell Benjamin working on the music.
Angourie Rice, Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey and Reneé Rapp will star, with Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr. directing.
And Jeff revealed he and wife Tina love working together.
He said: “We know when to get out of each other’s way when we’re working together. Like who’s taking this part? Who’s doing that? Who needs to push harder on getting the script done for this? We’re just around each other all the time. Same office, all the time. She’s a hilariously fun person to be around.”

Gerard Butler felt ‘inspired’ by Mike Coulter on the set of Plane

OHMYGOSSIP — Gerard Butler felt “inspired” by Mike Coulter on the set of ‘Plane.’
The 53-year-old actor stars alongside Mike, 46, in the action movie as a pilot who finds himself flying into a warzone and explained that even though they both did their own stunts, the “heart” of the movie is about the relationship with between the two lead characters.
He said: “Something we tried to pull off in the first half of our movie. It’s not a quick happening this, we’re really staying with the passengers and with the pilotrs through this whole thing. Using every trick in the book. Inside the box, outside the box, The quiet moments, the heartbreaking revelations, and then suddenly there’s a moment again. I’m learning from him and he is inspiring me but in completely different ways. That is the fascinating part because at the end of the day that is the heart of the movie. But the other stuff, the stunts is where you get your kicks. ”
Meanwhile, Mike added that his experience making the movie was one of the “best” he had ever had and noted how “hard” the ‘Phantom of the Opera’ star worked on making the film.
In the joint interview, he told HeyUGuys: “It’s truly one of the best times I’ve had on set. Gerald was really working hard, he was really kicking butt and we both had long days. But this is what you sign up for as an actor and hope for. You want to go to exotic locations, have a great script, great colleagues. So when audiences say they like it, that’s fun. Youre just so happy and you can’t ask for me.”

Maya Jama new face of Rimmel London

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama is reportedly the new face of Rimmel London.
The 28-year-old TV presenter has been snapped up by the make-up brand to replace Kate Moss, 49, after wowing viewers as the new host of ‘Love Island’ and Rimmel are keen to capitalise on her success.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Rimmel is one of the biggest brands in beauty with a very British core, so pinpointing Maya to be their figurehead shows she’s very much the It Girl of the moment.
“They needed a big name to take over from Kate, who had already stepped back from the role.
“Rimmel believes Maya ticks that box — plus they hope she can also appeal to a younger and more diverse audience. A backlash is expected given Maya is nearly half Kate’s age, but the company are happy with their decision. It’s a dream come true for Maya.”
This comes after Maya, 28, reportedly quit her role on BBC Three’s ‘Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star’ following her success as the new host of Love Island.
An insider said: “Maya loved her time hosting Glow Up for the last two series but has decided now not to return for another run.
“It was a really difficult decision but she’s going to be really busy doing two series of Love Island this year, and couldn’t make it work.
“She’s also gone down such a storm on ‘Love Island’ that demand for her has gone through the roof and her diary outside of filming the show is absolutely jam-packed.
“The BBC were gutted to lose her and are now on the hunt for her replacement.”

Katherine Ryan unveiled as on Pigeon The Masked Singer

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Ryan has been unveiled as Pigeon on ‘The Masked Singer.’
The 39-year-old comedienne had been taking part in the ITV1 competition – and at the time of filming was expecting her third baby – but became the latest celebrity to be unmasked on Saturday’s (28.01.23) episode after performing a rendition of Cheryl hit ‘Fight For This Love’ and had used an Essex accent inspired by ‘TOWIE’ star Gemma Collins to disguise natural Canadian voice.
After removing the mask, she said: “I can only do sort of an Essex accent because I watch so much ITV. I love reality TV. I love The GC! I love Cheryl and I used to do a bit of roast comedy in my act about her so I feel like it’s beautiful karma that I went off on her song.
“I have a month left. I feel like I have a baby’s foot in my lung at most times and it is actually harder than I thought. But you can’t tell my daughter anything because she would spill it to the whole school so she’ll be finding out along with everyone else!”
Judges Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan opted to save Jacket Potato from the bottom two and sent them through to the next round, but none of them had guessed Katherine’s identity correctly, with Jonathan opting for presenter Liza Tarbuck, Rita claiming it was model Jodie Kidd, while Davina remained convinced it was ‘Loose Women’ panellist Nadia Sawalha and Mo plumped for ‘Celebrity Juice’ star Emily Atack.
Katherine closed out the show by performing ‘Fight For This Love’ unmasked for the first time and next week’s edition of the series will feature a “world first” in the form of a double elimination.

Alison Hammond to host new BBC dance show

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Hammond will host a new BBC dance competition.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter – who took part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2014 – has signed up to front ‘Clear The Dancefloor’, which sees zany amateur dancers compete against one another, and producers couldn’t be happier to have secured her services, particularly because she is usually viewed as “ITV talent”.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “The BBC thinks it’s a real coup to have scooped Alison for their shiny new show.
“She’s in hot demand right now and is typically seen as ITV talent.
“Alison has loads of energy and the viewers at home absolutely love her.
“She’s refreshing and fun and isn’t afraid to laugh at herself. Excitement around the new series is really building.”
The news comes a month after it was reported Sky wanted the 47-year-old star to host a new panel show.
A source said at the time: “It remains to be seen if ‘This Morning’ bosses will give her a higher wage and a higher-profile role on the show to ensure she stays with them.
“If not, the Sky show is unlikely to be the last tempting offer she receives.”
The opportunity has come Alison’s way after she was previously hired by ITV to front a reboot of ‘Wheel Of Fortune’.
However, the project was subsequently scrapped, and rival broadcasters are now seeking to tempt her away from ITV.
Alison and Dermot O’Leary became permanent Friday hosts on ‘This Morning’ in 2020, and the former ‘Big Brother’ contestant – who shot to fame when she appeared on the show in 2002 – previously admitted she was thrilled by how far she’s come on ITV’s flagship daytime show.
She reflected: “I never dreamt that when I first joined ‘This Morning’ – initially for a few months – that I would still be there 19 years later.
“I genuinely care about the show and the viewers who watch, so it’s a huge privilege and honour to be hosting a show I adore so much.”

Davina McCall set to land dream job

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall is to host ‘Love Island’ “for the middle aged”.
The former ‘Big Brother’ presenter is ITV’s number one choice to front ‘The Romance Retreat’ – in which single parents will live in a villa together in a bid to find love with a housemate – and is said to be on the verge to agreeing the deal.
A source told The Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Davina is the perfect fit, she is a bubbly, fun and has also endured her own relationship problems. Until she met her boyfriend she was a single mother too.”
The ‘Masked Singer’ judge – who split from her ex Matthew Robertson, 54, in 2017 with whom she has Holly, 21, Tilly, 19, and Chester, 16, but has since found love with her new man Michael Douglas, 48 – admitted a few weeks ago she was “begging” to present such a show and insisted it would make for fascinating viewing.
She said: ” I’ve got no embarrassment or shame in emailing a TV company and going, ‘Have you thought about this? What about this? Can I do this?’
“I’m literally begging ITV to let me present mid-life ‘Love Island’.
“I could fill a villa in Love Island with middle-aged people with the best backstories you have ever heard in your life.
“They’ve lived a life – they’re widows, they’re people who have been through horrific divorces. They are people who have split up with somebody and decided they want to try going out with somebody the same sex as them. They’re like interesting people. I’d watch that show.”
Shortly afterwards, a casting call went out for ITV’s next dating show.
The description read: “ITV1 are looking for vibrant single parents from across the UK who are in search of love, for a brand new dating show!
“This is the ONLY dating show where single parents can search for love, by spending time in a luxury retreat, where all the parents have been nominated by their grown up children. (sic)”
The call out seems to give people a snapshot at the sprawling luxury villa they are hoping to host the fun in.

Eddie Murphy wants Shrek return

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie Murphy wants to make another Shrek movie.
The 61-year-old actor would jump at the chance to voice the ogre’s sidekick Donkey again, either in a fifth installment of the franchise or in his own standalone film and admitted he didn’t understand why his character didn’t get his own flick but Antonio Banderas’ Puss in Boots did.
He told Etalk: “I’d absolutely be open if they ever came with another ‘Shrek’, I’d do it in two seconds. I love Donkey.
“You know, they did Puss in Boots movies. I was like, ‘They should have did a Donkey movie. Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots. I mean, I love Puss in Boots, but he ain’t funny as the Donkey.
“I would do a Donkey movie. I would do another ‘Shrek’ in two seconds.”
And when it was suggested Eddie “pull some strings” to get his own movie made, he insisted it was out of his hands.
He said: “That’s Dreamworks Animation. They have to want to do it. Dreamworks, if you all want to do it, just call me. I’m ready, I’m sitting and ready to do Donkey.”
Eddie’s comments come after Antonio recently suggested there will “probably” be another ‘Shrek’ film at some point.
He said: “The first time I did Puss In Boots, I was working on Broadway, so I did my first session there. I’ve done five movies now. There is probably gonna be another, and ‘Shrek’ is probably coming back.”
Eddie is currently busy promoting his return to another role, the long-awaited ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley’.
The comic recently explained producer Jerry Bruckheimer played a key role in persuading him to sign on to star in the fourth film in the series.
Asked how he was convinced to make another film, he said: “Jerry Bruckheimer, the original producer. When he got involved, and he started developing the script, and he knew what ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ was supposed to be.
“When he got back involved, that’s when it all started to come together. Because we tried for years and years, maybe 10, 12 years, and I must have read five or six different scripts, and it was never right. The studio was like, ‘Let’s go. Here it is.’ It was like, ‘It’s just not it.’
“Jerry Bruckheimer got back in there, and he knows his s***, and he put it together. He did (‘Top Gun: Maverick’) just last year, and ‘Bad Boys’ is Jerry Bruckheimer.
“So we have that same brain behind ‘Beverly Hills Cop’, and he put all the pieces in place that were required for us to make a great movie. And I’m excited for people to see it.”

Alexander Skarsgård has ‘learned a lot’ during his directorial debut

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexander Skarsgård has “learned a lot” by making his directorial debut.
The 46-year-old actor is known for starring in ‘Zoolander’ and ‘The Northman’ but has stepped behind the camera for the first time as he helms feature film ‘The Pack’ – which he stars in alongside Florence Pugh – but admitted he struggled with the business side of the industry.
He said: “It’s been interesting being on this side of the casting process. I’ve learned a lot. Sometimes it’s quite disheartening in terms of people’s value, and some of those conversations are a bit — with financiers and everything, it’s like when you start to understand that model of foreign territories. So if someone’s value and someone you think is amazing and you think would mean a lot for financing doesn’t, and then someone, the opposite, means a lot and you don’t get why. So it is that, like Brandon [Cronenberg] said, I think you’re gonna have to make a lot of compromises, but you’ve got to choose your battles.”
The ‘Battleship’ star went on to add that when it comes to the casting process , he must have “chemistry” with his co-stars and despite dipping his toe into the world of directing, he is happy to be “just an actor.”
He told Collider: “When it comes to casting, obviously, it’s crucial for me to do it with the actors I want to work with and find that chemistry and that group, otherwise, it’s not worth it for me. I’m pretty content being ‘just an actor’, so it’s not that I feel like I have to segue into directing. I was high on painkillers and had hubris and thought I could direct this for a second, and maybe that was a mistake, but we’ll see. ”

Neil McDermott returning to EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil McDermott is returning to ‘EastEnders’.
The 42-year-old actor has agreed to reprise his role as Ryan Malloy for a brief stint as part of the ongoing underage pregnancy story involving his on-screen daughter Lily Slater (Lillia Turner), who he had with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).
While it was Neil’s first time working with Lillia, he was delighted to reunite with Lacey and Shona McGarty, who plays his on-screen sister Whitney Dean.
The actor – who was last seen in Albert Square in 2016 – said: “When I heard what the story was I was really pleased that the stars aligned and I was able to revisit Ryan and set foot back on the Square.
“It was so lovely to see so many old friends and to work with Shona and Lacey again, as well as to meet and work with Ryan’s daughter, played beautifully by Lillia.”
And soap bosses were delighted to have him back.
Executive producer Chris Clenshaw added: “It’s wonderful to welcome Neil back to the role of Ryan Malloy. Although we haven’t seen Ryan for some years, his character is still intertwined in the history of two of the show’s major characters, Stacey and Whitney.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have him back for a short while as he’s thrust into the heart of the drama.”
Neil joined the soap in 2009, when Ryan tried to establish a relationship with Whitney, and left in 2011 when his alter ego accidentally killed Rob Grayson in Southend.
But he made guest appearances in both 2014 and 2016 to check on his daughter following troubling times for Stacey, and he eventually handed himself into police in 2016, but was released from prison due to a lack of evidence and made a surprise return to Walford, where he told his loved ones he was moving to Yorkshire with his new love, a prison officer named Helen.

Top Gear won’t return this year

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Top Gear’ will not return this year.
The BBC stopped production on the motoring show earlier this month after presenter Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff was seriously injured in a car crash during filming, and they have no plans to restart as BBC Studios are awaiting the findings of an investigation into the incident, and also want to give the 45-year-old former cricketer time to recover.
As a result, the show won’t hit its usual deadlines to return to screens in the autumn.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Cast and crew are still reeling from the shock accident and there is concern about the future of the show.
“Because ‘Top Gear’ is such a risky production and there are lots of logistics involved with filming, it’s far more complicated than other TV series.
“As well as awaiting the results of the investigation, many production members wouldn’t feel comfortable beginning again without Freddie anyway, he’s such an integral part of the series.
“The incident was a shock for everyone involved and very serious.”
The news comes after it was claimed Freddie – who was airlifted to hospital after the crash – is planning an extended break from TV until he is in a “better place”.
A source said: “He is putting his career on hold until he is in a better place mentally and physically, and can’t say when he will return to making TV shows.
“As a loving husband and dad he understands the fear his family feel about what’s happened, knowing that he could have been killed.”
Freddie – who has daughter Holly, 18, sons Corey, 16, Rocky, 14, and Preston, four, with his wife Rachel – understands that there are “more important things” to focus on than his media career, like his healing journey.
The source added: “That’s why this decision will be a painful one for Freddie, but he knows that, for now at least, there are more important things in life.”

Jane Fonda ‘worried’ about Barbarella remake

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane Fonda is “worried” about the ‘Barbarella’ remake.
The 85-year-old actress – who starred in the original 1968 adaptation of a French comic book series as an astronaut from the 41st century who had to stop an evil scientist named Duran Durand – admitted she has been trying “not to think” about the upcoming project, which will star Sydney Sweeney in the lead role.
Asked what she thinks about the remake, which she has no involvement with, Jane told The Hollywood reporter: “I try not to. Because I worry about what it’s going to be.
“I had an idea of how to do it that [original producer] Dino De Laurentiis, when he was still alive, wouldn’t listen to.
“But it could have been a truly feminist movie.”
The ’80 For Brady’ star admitted she has considered retiring from acting but has ultimately decided against it because she knows her high profile benefits her activism.
She said: “One feeds the other.
“I recently thought, ‘Maybe I do want to quit acting.’ I mean, I’m 85. But then I realised, my platform matters. It brings people in that might not come in normally.”
Jane spent her 82nd birthday behind bars after getting arrested for a fifth time in a long-running climate change protest called Fire Drill Fridays.
She said: “I was happy to turn 82 in jail. Because I knew it would get a lot of attention.”
The ‘Grace and Frankie’ star isn’t “scared” of dying – but she’s worried she’ll have regrets at the end of her life.
She said: “I’m not scared of dying. I think I’m telling the truth when I say that.
“But I am really scared of getting to the end with a lot of regrets when it’s too late to do anything. And when you figure that out, it instructs the way you live between now and the end.
“[My regrets] all have to do with children. I didn’t know how to be a parent. But it’s never too late. You can show up.”

Salma Hayek Pinault was nervous about playing Kitty Softpaws again

OHMYGOSSIP — Salma Hayek Pinault was “nervous” about reprising her role in the ‘Puss in Boots’ sequel as the bar was set so high last time.
The 56-year-old actress voices the street-savvy Tuxedo cat, Kitty Softpaws, who is Puss’ (Antonio Banderas) ex-fiancée, in the ‘Shrek’ spin-off, and she admitted she had such a good time portraying the pussy last time, she didn’t think the follow-up could top it – but it did.
She told Britain’s OK! Magazine: “I was a little nervous about it because I had such a good experience the first time, the movie did really well so I had high expectations.
“But it was fantastic this time too – In fact, I think it’s so much better because Kitty is sassier, bossier, and her stunts are greater.”
Asked what fans can expect from ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ – which is released 12 years after the first film – she replied: “A wonderful family movie with lots of adventure, that is very funny, beautiful to look at with incredible, cutting-edge animation.”
She added: “It also has something nostalgic about it.
“Most importantly, it has a lot of heart and it talks about interesting things, like making sure you appreciate life.”
Salma joked she wishes she had the fancy footwork of her feline alter ego.
Quizzed on what drew her to the part, she said: “I just love her as a character so I was excited to have the possibility to be her again.
“What’s not to love? She’s funny, sassy, and she’s a cat. I love cats. I just wish I could have her moves!”

The 82-year-old broadcaster says she is having tests to assess the best treatment for her condition but is feeling “optimistic”, even though the disease has “spread”.
Esther said in a statement: “In the last few weeks I have discovered that I am suffering from lung cancer which has now spread.
“At the age of 82, this diagnosis has prompted me to look back over the years, and I want to express my profound thanks to everyone who has made my life so joyful, filled with fun, and with inspiration.
“First and foremost my family. My three children Miriam, Rebecca and Joshua have been the most wonderful support, company, and source of love and laughter and I am deeply grateful to them.
“My friends have been amazing and have created memories which sustain me and give me strength.
“My colleagues with whom I have worked, and continue to work with in broadcasting, journalism, the voluntary sector, and in many other organisations, have been a constant pleasure, and have amazed me with their tolerance of my wild ideas and awful jokes.”
She continued: “I have been continuously inspired by the courageous children, older people and viewers who have trusted me with their life stories. I have always tried to live up to that trust.
“As I am sure you will understand, while I am awaiting the results of the tests, I am unable to answer questions.

Michelle Heaton eliminated from ‘Dancing on Ice’

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Heaton has been eliminated from ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 43-year-old star and her professional partner Lukasz Rozycki are the second couple to leave the ITV skating show after they were axed in Sunday (29.01.23) night’s episode.
Michelle was booted from the show after the public vote as judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse did not have a say in who left the competition.
The traditional skate-off was absent from this edition of the show – meaning that the person with the least votes from the public when combined with the judges’ scores was sent home.
The Liberty X singer was visibly emotional to be axed from the competition so soon.
Michelle told presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: “I’ve loved every second of it. This man has just been amazing, I couldn’t have done any of it without you.”
Phillip had confirmed that there would be no skate-off during the programme and stressed the importance of the celebrities getting their performance right.
He said: ‘More than ever, they will be hoping to bring the house down as tonight, there are no second chances.
“We’ll combine the judges scores with your vote and then the lowest placed couple will go straight out of the competition.
“For one week only…there’s no skate off to save them!”
Former Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson topped the leaderboard with his partner Olivia Smart as the pair scored 33.5 points out of a possible 40.
However, ‘EastEnders’ legend Patsy Palmer and her partner Matt Evers struggled as they could only muster 20.5 points from the judges.
‘Dancing on Ice’ returns next Sunday night (05.02.23) on ITV1 and ITVX for the fourth show in the new series.
