Amy Ryan joins George Clooney and Brad Pitt in new thriller

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Ryan has joined George Clooney and Brad Pitt in a new Apple thriller.
The 54-year-old actress has been cast in the untitled movie that is written, directed and produced by Jon Watts.
The movie follows two lone-wolf fixers who are assigned to the same job. Clooney is to produce alongside Grant Heslov through Smokehouse Pictures.
Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment and Dianne McGuingle are also involved as producers.
Amy already has ties with Apple as she is set to star in the genre-bending series ‘Sugar’, which also includes Colin Farrell in the cast and has been created by Mark Protosevich.
George previously revealed that he and Brad both accepted lower fees for their work to enable the film to get a theatrical release.
The ‘Ticket to Paradise’ actor believes that there is a place for movies to “co-exist” on the big screen and streaming platforms.
Clooney said: “And we said we’d like to take less as long as we can guarantee that we can have a theatrical release, and they said great.
“I do think that there’s a way that we can all co-exist. You know, I do think that there is a version of this that we can do. There’s a lot of movies that are fun to still see on a big screen. You know, the film I’m doing with Julia [Roberts] right now is a Universal film, and it’s a comedy, and comedies are fun to see in a room full of people.”
Apple won the rights to the movie in a competitive bidding war and George described the process as an “extreme” and “exciting time” for himself and Pitt.
The 61-year-old actor said: “It was an exciting time because it got to be one of those weird bidding wars which happen every once in a while, and it ended up being pretty extreme, and Apple came in with a really big number for Brad and I.”

Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga to star in Caste

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga are to star in Ava DuVernay’s ‘Caste’.
The duo have boarded the movie adaptation of Isabel Wilkerson’s acclaimed book ‘Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents’.
Niecy Nash-Betts, Nick Offerman, Jasmine Cephas Jones and Connie Nielsen are also starring in the movie – which is shooting in Georgia.
The ensemble join ‘King Richard’ star Aunjanue Ellis, who has been cast in the lead role.
DuVernay is writing and directing the project and will also produce alongside veteran collaborator Paul Garnes.
‘Caste’ examines racism in the United States and the system of hierarchy that has shaped the country.
The tome was described in The New York Times newspaper as “an instant American classic and almost certainly the keynote non-fiction book of the American century thus far” following its publication in 2020.
Bernthal will reunite with Ellis after both featured in ‘King Richard’ – which told the story of how Richard Williams (Will Smith) guided daughters Venus (Saniyya Sidney) and Serena (Demi Singleton) to tennis stardom.
Jon played the role of coach Rick Macci and recalled how he “fought” for a part in the film.
Asked what drew him to the film, the 46-year-old star said: “So much. I fought for this. They didn’t see me for it initially. And I really, really wanted to do it.
“What’s so beautiful about telling this story is that everybody has some knowledge of (them) – like you said, they’re perhaps the biggest sports icons alive right now.
“The script blew me away. I’m an ex-athlete, I’m raising young athletes, and I thought that this story really explored the full spectrum of youth sports and how toxic it can be.”

Holly Willoughby: My early days with husband Dan Baldwin were intense

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby says the early moments in her relationship with her husband Dan Baldwin were “intense”.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter admitted it was a quick journey for her and the 48-year-old TV producer to become “inseparable” after they met on the set on a children’s programme they worked on together in Kent.
Writing on her lifestyle brand Wylde Moon’s Instagram page, the 41-year-old broadcaster said: “We met while I was doing Saturday morning kids’ telly and he was the producer and I was the presenter.
“I’d already been there around eight months I think, and then he came in as our new producer and we started this real intense friendship – it was mad actually.
“There was sort of two other guys that started at the same time, and we just became inseparable.
“We’d rehearse, and then we’d go out afterwards, and then we’d end up … We were filming down in Maidstone Studios and we used to stay in a hotel there.
“And you know everybody would go to the bar and then everybody would come back into either my room or their room and we’d all sit round just talking and laughing, and I just remember it just being such a fun time. I always describe that time as sort of my university years, really.’
Holly – who has son Harry, 13, daughter Belle, 11, and son Chester, eight, with Dan – admitted to being taken by “complete surprised” by her feelings for her future hubby.
She added: “And this must have been six months of real intense friendship and I remember this one night we were in the bar.
“I cheersed Dan, and I remember my eye just caught him for a little bit longer than it should have done, and I looked at him, and thought, ‘Oh my god, I fancy Dan Baldwin.’ And it took me by complete surprise, and then the rest is history.
“Looking back on it now I think what I was thinking was an intense friendship was probably me falling in love.”
“I think that’s a really good basis for romance because we have that friendship still now and we have three beautiful children, and we’re very happy and I’m very blessed every day for having him in my life.”

Filming on Alan Carr’s new sitcom Changing Ends has started

OHMYGOSSIP — Filming has started on Alan Carr’s new sitcom ‘Changing Ends’.
The six-part series has been penned by the 46-year-old comic and Simon Carlyle – who is the creator of popular BBC comedy ‘Two Doors Down’ – and focuses on Alan’s childhood in Northampton in the 1980s as the son of fourth division football manager Graham Carr, who played for Northampton Town before becoming a coach.
Alan stars in the programme as himself in the present day, while his younger self is portrayed by Oliver Savell.
The stand-up’s parents Graham and Christine are being portrayed by Shaun Dooley and Nancy Sullivan and Taylor Faye will appear as his younger brother Gary.
The cast is completed by Gabby Best, Harry Peacock and Rourke Mooney who are playing Alan’s neighbours Angela, Nigel and Charlie respectively.

Told with warmth and wit, it follows Alan’s journey through puberty, adolescence, and finally self-discovery, all against the backdrop of Thatcher’s Britain.

“It’s about school and family, Kevin Keegan and George Michael, and figuring out who you are when your family are Match of the Day and you’re a bit Miss Marple.”
‘Changing Ends’ will air later this year on ITVX, the new free streaming site from ITV.

Jay Blades isn’t leaving the The Repair Shop

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay Blades isn’t leaving the ‘The Repair Shop’.
The 52-year-old television personality might have made his new documentary ‘Jay Blades: History of the East End’ – a programme highlighting the area he grew up in – with their rival network Channel 5 but he is adamant he is not going to leave the BBC and the beloved programme.
He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: “I don’t think they are going to pull the plug. We normally make them a year in advance.
“I am still filming series eight and then going to do series nine right after.
“Channel 5 haven’t taken me away. Channel 5 has allowed me to do something different than what I do on the BBC, which is nice.
“As a creative, I have a production company and I have ideas – and when you have ideas you want to go somewhere where we can make them, and Channel 5 is that place.”
Jay has done other projects away from the BBC One show – which sees artisan craft experts like woodworker Will Kirk restore beloved items cherished by members of the public – via his production company Hungry Jay like ‘No Place Like Home’, which will see celebs like Ben Miller, Fern Britton and Chris Kamara foray into hometowns.
In December, they shared the synopsis: “No Place Like Home sees [the celebrities] take a walk down memory lane returning to the neighbourhoods where they grew up, discovering the history that was on their doorstep all along.
“Each episode sees a celebrity learning more about themselves and the places they called ‘home’ as they explore the areas that made them.”
In December, Jay also told royal critics to “pipe down” after they accused him of getting over friendly with King Charles III during his appearance on a special episode of ‘The Repair Shop’.
He said: “Well, there was plenty of royal security there to say don’t touch the geezer, but they didn’t. He’s only a human and he touched me too. So I think everyone should pipe down.”

The ‘Rob and Romesh Vs’ star – who has two daughters and a son with his wife Louise Watts – admits taking the popular parenting podcast that he hosts with fellow comic Josh Widdicombe on the road was a tad frightening but loved “the interaction with a live audience” and thinks it really showcased “the best” of the format.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge renews her deal with Amazon Studios

OHMYGOSSIP — Phoebe Waller-Bridge has reportedly renewed her deal with Amazon Studios.
The ‘Fleabag’ creator and star will continue her professional relationship with the Amazon Prime streaming service for at least another three years after she signed an initial deal with them in 2019.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 37-year-old actress-and-writer is currently executive producing the adaption of the book ‘Sign Here’ alongside its author Claudia Lux – who is also acting as scriptwriter and co-executive producer – and Jenny Robbins from Wells Street Films.
The story is dubbed as “a darkly humorous, utterly gripping debut novel about a guy who works in Hell (literally). Peyote Trip has a pretty good gig in the deals department on the fifth floor of Hell. Sure, none of the pens work, the coffee machine has been out of order for a century and the only drink on offer is Jägermeister, but it’s still Hell and after waiting a millennium, he comes up with a plan that might just change his life (and death) forever”.
It is one of several projects in the pipeline from the ‘Killing Eve’ writer at Amazon.
However, Phoebe experienced a setback after the ‘Mr and Mr Smith’ series she was working on – a reboot of the 2005 movie starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt – after she and her co-collaborator Donald Glover stopped working with one another in September 2021 due to creative differences. Despite the professional hiccup, the ‘Solo’ co-stars remain friends.

Brendan Fraser was ‘energised’ by The Whale

OHMYGOSSIP — Brendan Fraser felt “energised” by his role in ‘The Whale’.
The 54-year-old actor has been nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of the obese English professor Charlie in Darren Aronofsky’s movie and relished the challenge of playing the character.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Brendan said: “I didn’t feel scared. I felt – I don’t know – energised. I felt enthusiastic. I felt like, ‘That’s going to be a good challenge. That’s new. I haven’t seen that before.’
“I felt really inspired. And I also felt like it was something I wanted to do so bad, I could feel it in my bones. And the feeling of also having had that many times before in my life – in my career – and seeing that ship sail enough times.”
The star – whose film work stalled after he claimed that he was sexually assaulted by the then-president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) Philip Berk in 2003 – added: “I didn’t know if it was really going to come together. It was almost a ‘too good to be true’ kind of feeling, until we really got underway.

Sadie Sink stars in ‘The Whale’ as Charlie’s estranged daughter Ellie and Fraser had high praise for the ‘Stranger Things’ actress.

“I could go on and on, and, I promise you, I want to. But she’s just terrific.”

On Friday’s (27.01.23) episode, he told her: ‘I said to Ellie, I’m going to give you the respect and not bin you off. I’m still going to talk to her and whatever and just, I know how I feel with you.

Lana replied: “I’m taking a step back now, seriously. I don’t want to be part of it, so that’s that. I’m not doing this kissing and affectionate thing when you are cracking on with someone else, so don’t expect me too. I’m not getting involved in a trio thing, I’m not second best, I’m best.”

Susan Sarandon felt ‘safe’ working with Richard Gere

OHMYGOSSIP — Susan Sarandon felt “safe” working with Richard Gere.

She said: “I feel safe working with him, which makes me braver because I know that he’s present, and he listens. Well, play is a very good word to say. I mean, it felt playful. It felt, again, safe in a way. And that’s when you can be playful because I knew he had his thing down, and I could, therefore, have my thing, and that he would support me. I mean, there wasn’t a lot of improvisation, but there was some give to how things came down and how we expressed it, and how we danced.”
The Academy Award-winning actress – who joins the star-studded cast also consisting of Emma Roberts, Diane Keaton, Luke Bracey, and William H. Macey went on to explain that the reason behind her career is the “connection” she develops with her co-stars while shooting a role.
She told Collider: “I mean, that’s why you do it, really, is because we all want connection. Not so much to be seen by an audience, but the feeling … I do anyway. The collaboration of having a tribe of people that are putting this together, and the connection that you have when you have a moment with somebody, for me, that’s extraordinary. So if you can find other actors that are prepared, so they’re not thrown if you do something a little bit different, that’s when it’s the most fun.”
