Paddy Considine and Mena Massoud to star in boxing drama Giant

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy Considine and Mena Massoud are to star in the boxing drama ‘Giant’.
The pair have signed up to star in the movie based on the British fighter ‘Prince’ Naseem Hamed and his ascent to world title glory under the guidance of his Irish-born trainer Brendan Ingle.
The movie will be written and directed by Rowan Athale and is being produced by Mark Lane of Tea Shop Productions and Kevin Sampson of White Star Productions.
Massoud, who has previously starred in the live-action take on ‘Aladdin’, will star as Hamed and Considine is to play the role of Ingle.
‘Giant’ tells the true story of Hamed’s humble beginnings in Sheffield and his discovery by Ingle – a steel industry worker turned boxing trainer.
The unlikely partnership along with Hamed’s unorthodox style and cocky persona propelled the pair to boxing’s elite in the face of Islamophobia in Britain.
AGC Studios will fully finance and produce the film, with executive producers including Sylvester Stallone and Braden Aftergood of Balboa Productions.
Athale says he has been determined to bring the pair’s story to the big screen for several years.
He said: “The story of fabled boxing trainer Brendan Ingle and his tempestuous relationship with protégé ‘Prince’ Naseem Hamed is both legendary, and truly cinematic.
“It’s exciting, necessary, hilarious, and heartbreaking, and to be making this movie with the incomparable Paddy Considine and Mena Massoud, and with the support of the one and only Sylvester Stallone and his Balboa Productions team, is a dream come true.”

Anna-May Robey has ‘no regrets’ about Love Island stint

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna-May Robey has “no regrets” about her ‘Love Island’ stint.
The 20-year-old payroll administrator was dumped from the villa on Wednesday night’s (25.01.23) episode alongside Haris Namani, but says she had the “best 10 days” of her life on the ITV2 dating show.
She said: “I had such an incredible time, I’ve made really good memories and friends that will last a lifetime.
“It’s definitely something I would do again, I have no regrets because I’ve had the best 10 days of my life!
“It’s an experience that not many people get so you can’t take that for granted, I’m really grateful.”
Anna-May was initially coupled up with Haris after picking him over fellow Islander Will Young, but admits her ‘Love Island’ experience has now made her realise she should be “more open to new people” in the future.
She said: “I picked Haris over Will based on initial attraction. We got on well but it’s hard, because you’re with someone you don’t know but you still have to try and get to know them.
“In real life I’ve never been in that position [where I’ve had to try and get to know someone] so it’s made me realise that I should be more open to new people in the future.”
Anna-May went on to recouple with Kai Fagan, but when they were a pair they didn’t feel a connection.
She said: “When we received the text for the recoupling he came over and spoke to me and we had a bit of a chat and a flirt.
“I liked his confidence, he came over and said that on the first day he had his eyes set on me. We got along well and I felt I had a better connection with him over anyone else, but when we recoupled there was nothing there anymore.
“I’m the type of girl who likes what I can’t have so when we coupled up he was so lovely bless him, but I just wasn’t feeling it.”
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX. The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player

Love Island’s Haris Namani expects Olivia Hawkins to move on

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Haris Namani expects Olivia Hawkins to “get to know” other lads now he has left the villa.
The 21-year-old TV salesman was dumped from the Island on Wednesday night’s (25.01.23) show alongside Anna-May Robey, but he admits that while his budding romance with Olivia was “just getting good”, he is expecting her to explore other coupling up opportunities.
Asked how he has left things, he said: “We had a conversation just after the decision was made. I hope she does well and I hope she finds the right boy for herself.”
But Haris admits he should “never say never” about possibly hooking up with Olivia again away from the villa.
He said: “You never know what could happen. Never say never.
“I would expect Olivia to get to know people that are coming through. If there’s new people coming through, just to be true to herself.”
Asked how he feels about her now, he said: “It was only just getting good! From the get-go me and her had mutual attraction to each other.
“When we coupled up I felt we were getting closer than we were at the start.
“She’s a very good looking girl, her energy, the way she presented herself, the flirting, the funny side to her, she was a nice girl as well.”
Haris’ exit comes just days after a video emerged that appeared to show him punch another man in a street brawl.
He now insists that the clip is “not a reflection of [his] character”.
He said: “I’m devastated that this video has been seen, it’s not a reflection of my character. I’m not someone that goes looking for fights and I didn’t want to be in that situation.
“This was a heat of the moment thing. The video doesn’t show everything that happened.
“Afterwards we met up and we cleared the air; we’ve shaken hands and we get along now. It’s not something that would happen again.”
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX. The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player

Leomie Anderson replaces Maya Jama on Glow Up

OHMYGOSSIP — Leomie Anderson has replaced Maya Jama as the new presenter of ‘Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star’.
The 29-year-old supermodel will take the reins for the fifth series of the BBC Three show – in which 10 amateur make-up artists battle to be crowned Britain’s Next Make-Up Star – when it returns later this year.
Leomie said: “I am so excited to be joining ‘Glow Up’ as the host as it’s such an incredible show!
“I have always been a huge fan and admire all the MUAs work who have been in there previously so to see it in real life is amazing.
“I can’t wait to work alongside the fabulous Val and Dom in a completely new territory too outside of modelling and get truly stuck in!”
Each episode follows the contestants diving into the many varied worlds a make-up artist’s work will take them.
In series five, the hopefuls will work on the set of Netflix drama series ‘Bridgerton’.
Melissa Brown, Wall to Wall Executive Producer, said: “We are over the moon to have Leomie Anderson join ‘Glow Up’.
“Now in our fifth series, we are set to return bigger and better than ever, and it is an absolute joy to have Leomie now at the helm. I’m sure she will be a hit with viewers as much as she is with us.”
Earlier this week, it was revealed Maya would not return as the host of ‘Glow Up’.
The ‘Love Island’ presenter took over hosting duties on the show from Stacey Dooley for the third and fourth series.
An insider said: “Maya loved her time hosting ‘Glow Up’ for the last two series but has decided now not to return for another run.
“It was a really difficult decision but she’s going to be really busy doing two series of Love Island this year, and couldn’t make it work.”

Maureen Lipman ‘taking Coronation Street break’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Maureen Lipman is taking a break from ‘Coronation Street’.
The 76-year-old star – who portrays Evelyn Plummer in the ITV soap – is heading away from Weatherfield for a short time as her one-woman play ‘Rose’ heads to the West End.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Maureen will be taking a short break from the cobbles to star in the play – but she will be back.”
In the production, by Martin Sherman, Maureen plays a feisty Jewish woman who goes on a journey from the devastation of Nazi-occupied Europe to conquering the American dream.
Maureen said in a statement: “I am delighted to be putting Rose back on her bench for a limited run at the Ambassadors in May.
“I thought I could never have the power to revisit Martin Sherman’s mystical, magical deeply philosophical and wildly funny creation, but Rose is in my blood and she has to be revived.”
Last year, Maureen went on a “little holiday” from the cobbles, but admitted in August she was excited to go back.
She said at the time: “I’ve got a little holiday from ‘Corrie’. I’m going back, because I like ‘Corrie’, I like the people.”
Maureen also admitted she is a big fan of being up north in the Greater Manchester area, where the ITV soap is filmed.
She added: “It’s amazing being up north again, because you realise how much you’re kind of being posh when you’re in London, even though I’ve been here 54 years.”
In July 2022, Maureen admitted she had penned another ‘Corrie’ contract, and praised the soap for being full of “exceptional actors”.
She said: “I won’t hear a word against Corrie. It’s full of quite exceptional actors working with very little rehearsal and very little direction.
“Evelyn’s an appalling old boot. I really love her. They keep trying to give her a soft side, which I enthusiastically resist.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Carley Stenson says the coronavirus pandemic made her realise just how much she wanted a baby.
The ex ‘Hollyoaks’ actress welcomed her 19-month-old daughter Skye with husband Danny Mac in June 2021.
Carley – who tied the knot with the former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star in a private woodland ceremony in Hampshire three years prior – was riding the high of married life until lockdown made her realise what was missing.
She told OK! magazine: “We were on the fast, amazing rollercoaster of life.

Speaking about her mum guilt, she told Hello! magazine: “I feel awful when I’m not with her.
“I remember my first day back to work, when Skye had a rash. I got off the Tube and I could have gone left to work or right to go home, and I had to ring my mum and say, ‘Please tell me what to do’.
“But I knew Skye was with my mother-in-law, who is a nurse, so she could not have been in better hands.”

Kevin Feige has no fears for cinema

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Feige has no fears for the future of cinema.
The movie industry has seen some major changes since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic but the Marvel Studios president has an optimistic view on the future of the theatrical experience after a meeting with film heavyweights.
In an appearance on The Movie Business Podcast, Kevin said: “I was talking to somebody, and I will not namedrop, but I was on a Zoom with a group of people and I sort of shared this, ‘Is it gonna go away? Is the movie business gonna go away?’ And this very smart person, said, ‘It’s not’.
“He said, ‘It’s gonna take a few years,’ and this person said three years, and this was almost three years ago (around 2020). (They) said, ‘It’ll take about three years to get better.’
“And I thought, ‘That’s horrible, I want it to take six months to get better.’ And this very smart person turned out to be right.”
Kevin revealed that the person in question likened going to the cinema to attending a sporting event as both have a “shared experience” for passionate fans.
The Marvel chief said: “But this person also said, I’m not a sports fan, but this person said, ‘Look, anybody can watch any football game they want on television. But every week, hundreds of thousands, millions of people still go into stadiums in freezing cold, in the rain, with a ton of people, driving, parking, overspending for a beer and a hotdog, because that shared experience is necessary for humanity. And that if one day, you start to see stadiums empty at sporting events, then you can start worrying about theatrical. But that’s not gonna happen, because you need a shared experience.'”

The ‘Devotion’ star continued: “With the MCU, and with Kang, there is such a beautiful sensation knowing that the work with myself and my collaborators do is going to reach people. That responsibility is something I honour and something I really take on.

Lana Jenkins fought tears as Ron Hall was picked by bombshell Ellie Spence in recoupling

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Jenkins fought tears as her man Ron Hall was taken from her by bombshell Ellie Spence in a recoupling.
She has been seen sharing kisses with financial advisor Ron and looked heartbroken as Ellie went for Ron when she had the first pick of the boys on Thursday (26.01.23) night’s episode of ‘Love Island’.
Before Ellie made her pick, she appeared to take a dig at Lana by saying Ron had not yet “met his match”.
She told her fellow contestants about Ron: “I don’t think he’s met his match yet and I’m really looking forward to getting to know him better.”
Ellie added before choosing Ron: “I’ve decided to couple up with this boy because from what I’ve seen so far he seems really funny.
“He’s handsome, I don’t think he’s met his match yet and I’m really looking forward to getting to know him better.”
Ellie was the only girl who was able to choose a male partner, as a new arrival, with the boys left to do the rest of the picking.
Lana later said: “I was really excited when I got the recoupling text because I thought I’d get to be back in Ron’s bed and we could have nice chats and sail off into the sunset.
“That’s obviously not how it’s gone for me, I can’t catch a break.“
She also looked visibly upset as she was forced to couple up with Australian bombshell Aaron Waters.
He urged her to keep her head up, adding: “(The show is) a marathon not a sprint.”
Lana later admitted she was not feeling “too great” after Ellie’s “savage” comment about Ron not having met his match.
She and Ron had been kissing despite being in different couples, with Lana in a friendly couple with farmer Will Young, while Ron was coupled with Tanyel Revan.

The ‘Loose Women’ star – who is already mum to three sons and a daughter – confirmed last month that baby number five is due in January – and Stacey has now revealed she’s thrilled to be giving her kids a sister.
She made the revelation on Instagram after a fan asked: “Do you know if you’re having a boy or girl?”
The 33-year-old TV star then replied: “Soooooo many of you asking this. So … ” She then added a picture of herself cuddling her youngest child, daughter Rose, and wrote: “When Rose found out she’s going to have a … sister.”
Stacey added: “So excited to share with you that we are going to be saying hello to another darling daughter soon. Sisters.
“The boys are so excited. And the thought of Rose having a little sister as well as all of her amazing big brothers has filled our hearts.
“I have the most incredible sisters in the world. They are my everything. I’m so excited for the boys, Rose and our newest little girl …”

The former ‘X Factor’ star previously revealed she was “a lot further along” in her pregnancy than when “you usually tell people” and as a result she’s had to undergo extra tests to make sure everything is on track.
Before confirming her baby’s gender, Stacey shared a video of her ultrasound scan and explained: “Hello Baby. One of the nicest surprises to come from being what they call a ‘late booking’ pregnancy.
“‘I’m going for extra check ups to make sure the size of baby and dates are making sense because it’s much harder to measure later on in pregnancy. There’s literally no room left in there.”

Dancing On Ice drops skate-off

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Dancing On Ice’ is ditching the skate-off this weekend.
Producers are shaking up the format of the competition to make things harder than ever for the celebrities, because the two lowest-ranking couples will no longer have the option of impressing judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse to keep their place in the competition.
Instead, the judges scores will be combined with the public votes and the couple placed at the bottom will automatically be sent home.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “You might think there being no dreaded skate off would be a good thing, but actually it means the celebs have no safety net – there’ll be no saving of favourites, or forgiving a misstep.
“The celeb will be judged entirely on how they skate and how the audience reacts to that skate.
“The stakes are higher than ever.”
On Sunday (29.01.23), all 10 remaining couples will perform for the first time, with the stars divided across the first two shows and the lowest-place each week competing in last weekend’s skate-off.
This led to week two’s John Fashanu and his professional partner Alexandra Schauman being voted off by the judges following a skate-off against Ekin-Su Culcologlu and Brendyn Hatfield after they had placed lowest in the series opener.
Speaking to co-hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby after his exit was announced, John said when asked if he had enjoyed his brief stint on the show: “Oh, it’s been great.”
He added it was like the FA Cup final all over again.
When Phillip asked: “Will you carry on skating?” John replied: “Oh yes! I shall carry on skating and who knows, I might even start teaching people.”

Willem Dafoe in talks to join Nosferatu remake

OHMYGOSSIP — Willem Dafoe in reportedly talks to join the ‘Nosferatu’ remake.
The ‘Spider-Man’ star is said to be considering a role in the new film version of the horror classic which would reunite him with director Robert Eggers – who he previously worked with on 2019 film ‘The Lighthouse’ and on last year’s Viking epic ‘The Northman’.
Deadline.com reports Dafoe is in talks to join the production of ‘Nosferatu’ – a remake of the 1922 silent film inspired by Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel ‘Dracula’. No details have been given on the role Dafoe could be playing.
If he signs up, Dafoe will join Lily Rose-Depp, Bill Skarsgard and Nicholas Hoult in the cast with Eggers writing and directing the film.
‘Nosferatu’ tells a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgard) who stalks her and brings untold horror with him.
‘Nosferatu’ has been a passion project of Eggers’ for several years and came close in 2019 when Anya Taylor-Joy and Harry Styles were in discussions to star. The story was first told on the big screen by F.W. Murnau as a silent German film in 1922 and was remade by Werner Herzog as ‘Nosferatu the Vampyre’ in 1979.
Eggers previously admitted he worries that all the problems he’s had with the project could be a bad omen.
He said of the remake: “I’m just starting to think that [F.W.] Murnau doesn’t want me to make it. It feels like that. “It just feels like it’s so hard, and I don’t know why. And I think [Werner] Herzog had the right … because of German history and German cinema history, to make it. And maybe the ghosts of Murnau and Albin Grau are telling me … stop barking up that tree. I don’t know. That doesn’t mean that that’s true. I’m just wondering.”
