Sex Pistols’ John Lydon loses Eurovision bid

OHMYGOSSIP — Sex Pistols’ John Lydon has lost out on his bid to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The 67-year-old star and his band Public Image Ltd (PiL) entered their song ‘Hawaii’, a tribute to Lydon’s wife of nearly 50 years, Nora, who has Alzheimer’s disease, in the competition to represent Ireland but they were beaten by Wild Youth with ‘We Are One’.
The winner was chosen on a special Eurosong edition of RTE’s ‘The Late Late Show’, where a combination of a jury decision and public telephone votes decided the outcome.
PiL’s song finished in fourth position from six finalists.
John said: “This song we pieced together to try and tell the story as genuinely as we could without breaking down in tears.
“It is going to be a difficult one for me tonight.
“I recommend ‘Hawaii’ to everyone for a holiday because it is the best Alzheimer’s cure.”
Jury member John Grimes from Jedward said: “The song comes from a place of love, acceptance and calmness. A delicate song might stand out if it did go to Eurovision. It is heartbreaking what is happening with his wife.”
John’s twin Edward added: “I am not so sure it is a song for Eurovision.”
Wild Youth singer Conor O’Donohoe said: “Thank you to everyone who voted for us, we are overwhelmed, we hope everyone can get behind the song and that we can do everyone in Ireland proud. We want to thank all of our families, they have supported us from day one.”

‘Anywhere’ singer Rita Ora believed it could be her other co-star Faye Tozer, whilst Mo Gilligan thought it was Hear’Say star Suzanne Shaw.
Throughout the competition, nods to Claire’s pop career as clues included a shot of a church to reflect where she filmed the music video for best-selling single ‘Tragedy’, as well as being seen with a magpie as a nod to Steps’ 1998 hit ‘One For Sorrow’

Rachel Brosnahan welcomed Walter Hill’s direct way of working

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Brosnahan loved Walter Hill’s “no bulls***” attitude to ‘Dead for a Dollar’,
The 32-year-old actress stars in the writer-and-director’s Western as Rachel Kidd and she admired the “fast and furious” way the filmmaker worked because it was so “invigorating”.
She told Total Film of the director: “He’s very direct, which I love. There’s no bulls***!
“He warned me that this project would never have enough time and never have enough money and that it would be fast and furious.
“So he encouraged me to be prepared.
“We sometimes shot one take – two or three, if we were lucky.
“So whatever you brought on the day was what ended up in the film.
“It was invigorating – it feels almost like theatre in that you get one shot, and it better be perfect.”
The ‘Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ star found working with Walter “inspiring” because he was still looking to push boundaries at the age of 83.
She told Total Film magazine: “One of the things that was exciting about this film is it plays with so many of these western tropes – but when Walter and I first spoke about the project, he expressed this desire to contribute to the canon in a new way and be part of its evolution.
“It’s encouraging to see that at 80 years old, someone like Walter is still curious enough to grow and evolve. It’s inspiring.”
While Rachel enjoyed makig the film, she found her costumes made things “challenging”.
She said: “I wore a proper lace-up corset that took about three people to get me into, and it was blazing hot.
“I had a wig on that was like wearing a winter hat in the summer and all the petticoats and the layers.
“It was the most challenging way I’ve ever ridden a horse, that’s for sure.”

Toni Collette and Odessa Young cast in The Prima Donna

OHMYGOSSIP — Toni Collette and Odessa Young have been cast in the revenge thriller ‘The Prima Donna’.
The pair have boarded writer and director Nathan Silver’s movie about two feuding opera singers and the lengths that the pair will go to for the limelight.
The film is set in Rome and centres on legendary opera diva Livia Angelli (Collette), who is preparing to step into the role of a lifetime just as her estranged daughter Mimi (Young) shows up on her doorstep having got out of rehab.
Mimi is an aspiring opera singer herself and asks her mother for the chance to be her understudy. However, she looks to exact the ultimate revenge when her request is callously dismissed.
The movie has been written by Silver together with C. Mason Wells and is due to begin shooting this summer in the Italian capital.
The project reunites Collette and Young after they previously collaborated on the acclaimed HBO series ‘The Staircase’.
Odessa previously starred in the movie ‘Mothering Sunday’ and revealed that she was comfortable with the nudity required in the romantic drama as she treats her body like a “costume”.
The 25-year-old actress said: “No, there wasn’t a body double. It’s probably not so romantic for me to reveal this, but I could do it because I treated my body like a costume.
“I enjoy the challenge of those moments where you don’t have to rely on written action or written dialogue.”

Olivia Attwood set for I’m A Celebrity return

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Attwood is set to return to ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The former ‘Love Island’ star was forced to leave the show on medical grounds last year after just one day but ITV bosses have a plan to get her back in the jungle for the new series that will begin later this year as the broadcaster has high hopes for the reality star.
A source told The Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Olivia’s time in the jungle last year was to give her a platform so that ITV could give her a big show.
“They had a huge future mapped out for her. She’s a big draw for the much-sought-after younger viewers. Then it all came to an end after her blood tests came back.
“Now they are getting her back for this year and will start the whole plan again. ITV bosses know she will be popular on ‘I’m A Celeb’… and that viewers will just love her.”
Olivia explained that she was removed from the show after a blood test showed that she was dangerously anaemic.
The 31-year-old star recalled: “I was so scared, I was like, ‘What the hell is wrong with me?’
“They couldn’t give me an answer, they just told me that they had to get me to the hospital immediately.
“The results were really, really low when they put them into their reader and they consulted with another doctor off site. I had those bloods done in England before I left, and they were fine. I was confused and of course very, very worried…
“I didn’t know what to think. I was wondering if I had picked up a virus, was I pregnant, all of these things were going through my head. It was absolutely frightening.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Feltz has split from her fiance Ben Ofoedu.
The 60-year-old broadcaster has ended her relationship with the Phats and Small singer after 16 years amid claims that he cheated on her with a number of women.
It is said that Vanessa found a string of social media messages and emails that Ben had sent to other women and he has now moved out of the couple’s North London home.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday newspaper, the TalkTV presenter said: “I had thought it might take a bit longer before this came out, because it’s a lot to deal with – a shock like this takes some adjusting to – but I am extremely sad and disappointed that my 16-year relationship with Ben is over.
“As an agony aunt I have said many times that once the trust in a relationship is gone, it can never be repaired or regained.
“So I have to take my own advice on this occasion.
“Who knew I’d be single at 60? However, ladies, it’s onwards and upwards and I firmly believe that the best is yet to come.”
Vanessa quipped that she is not the only lady to be unlucky in love recently as it has been reported that pop star Kylie Minogue has split with her boyfriend Paul Solomons.
The TV star – who has daughters Allegra, 37, and Saskia, 34, with her ex-husband Michael Kurer – said: “I hear that Kylie Minogue is single again, so I’m in good company – if she wants to hit the town, hook me up.”

Alexander Skarsgard insists hallucinatory scenes in Infinity Pool were more technical than fun

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexander Skarsgard found filming his cloning sequence in ‘Infinity Pool’ “kind of boring”.
The 46-year-old actor stars in Brandon Cronenberg’s horror as James Foster, an author who finds himself trapped on a particularly disturbing vacation, and despite the hallucinatory montages in the movie being a visual spectacle, he admitted most of the work went into technical elements.
He told CinemaBlend: “Shooting those sequences, it’s kind of boring ’cause they’re very technical. I love those in the movie and with the music and they’re so kind of… it evokes something quite interesting in you.
“Shooting it is definitely less I wanna say romantic, but less tantalising.”
However, Alexander enjoyed watching Brandon and his crew at work.
He added: “It’s technical, but also those days were super fun on set ’cause Brandon [Cronenberg] and Karim Hussain, his DP, they’ve worked together for many, many years. They are like little kids playing with LEGO on set.”
Brandon and cinematographer Karim Hussain played around with different lighting and visual techniques during filming, which Alexander admitted made the shoot more exciting.
He said: “They played around with so many different shots, different filters, different liquids, and weird mirrors and boxes that they wanted us to step into ’cause they would shoot it and it was very creative and innovative and tactile ’cause it was all done on set in camera as opposed to in post with CGI. So I was very excited about shooting those sequences.”
Brandon recently admitted some of the movie was inspired by his own holiday from hell.
He said: “I did draw on some experiences I had, the one time I did go to a resort about 20 years ago, for when I started building out the particulars of the resort compound, the barbed wire fencing and so on. A lot of that was taken from reality. It was vacation that I found to be particularly menacing …
“It was the Dominican Republic and it was very surreal. They would bus you in in the middle of the night. You wouldn’t see any of the surrounding country at all because it was dark. They just dropped you into a compound surrounded by razor wire fence, it was much like in the film. There was a fake town where you could shop, but not outside the compound. There was a Chinese restaurant, there was a horrible disco.”

Vicki Michelle joins EastEnders cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicki Michelle has joined the cast of ‘EastEnders’.
The 72-year-old actress will begin filming for a mystery role on the BBC soap later this month and is set to appear in several episodes during the spring.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Bosses are keeping tight-lipped on her role, but she will definitely stir up some drama.
“Producers know she’s a talented actress and will go down a storm with fans.”
Vicki is best known for her role as the saucy French waitress Yvette Carte-Blanche in the sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo!’, which aired on the BBC for a decade between 1982 and 1992 and focused on the life of a cafe owner during the German occupation of France in World War II.
She also played the character of Patricia Foster on a recurring basis in the ITV soap ‘Emmerdale’ between 2007 and 2009 and featured on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ in 2014.
Vicki recently bemoaned how comedy is being “nuked” by political correctness and suggested that ‘Allo ‘Allo!’ wouldn’t make it past censors today as it was packed with innuendos.
She explained: “Comedy is being neutralised – or nuked. I think 80 per cent of this country would love comedy like ‘Allo ‘Allo!’ to be made again, so 20 per cent might take aversion to some of the content.
“But people eff, blind and use the c-word on telly and that’s considered fine. And on reality TV people make love under a sheet, and that’s fine. There was none of that in ‘Allo ‘Allo!’.”

Ekin-Su Culculoglu defends raunchy Dancing on Ice outfit

OHMYGOSSIP — Ekin-Su Culculoglu has defended her risque ‘Dancing on Ice’ costume.
The ‘Love Island’ winner sparked complaints with her daring outfit when she took to the ice for the first time on the ITV show but is determined to empower women by staying sexy.
Ekin-Su told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “I feel like every woman should feel sexy. It doesn’t matter who you are, what your age is or how you look.
“It’s not about cleavage, legs or bums, it’s about the knowledge you have, the way you carry yourself, the way you speak to people… it’s knowing who you are and embracing it. That is sexy.”
Ekin-Su – who won ‘Love Island’ last summer with her partner Davide Sanclimenti – was trolled on social media for her raunchy costume and admits that she found the criticism difficult to take.
The 28-year-old star said: “I was very upset. Instead of people saying, ‘Look at her, look at her confidence’, I had negative feedback.
“I’m not going to lie, I was crying a lot. I went home and cried in Davide’s arms.”
She added: “On ‘Love Island’, people were criticising me but we had no phones so I had no idea what was happening.
“Now it’s in my face. Someone sends me a DM, someone sends me a tweet and I see it. It’s everywhere and it’s a lot to take.”
Ekin-Su, who is partnered with professional Brendyn Hatfield on the ice, will not let the trolls get her down.
She said: “I’m not going to just back off… I’m going to be confident again. I’m going to fight.
“I’m here, I’m ready, I’m going to shine – and I’m going to be me again.”

Julianne Moore hates using guns on the big screen

OHMYGOSSIP — Julianne Moore hates using guns in her films.
The 62-year-old actress is an passionate campaigner for gun control in the United States and has revealed that she has not used a firearm on a movie for 15 years as she is not comfortable with it.
Asked if the lack of guns is a conscious decision, Julianne told The Sunday Times newspaper: “Yes. It’s not something I feel drawn to at all. I don’t find it appealing.”
Gun use on film sets has been in the headlines after Alec Baldwin discharged a weapon that killed the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie ‘Rust’ in 2021 but Julianne does not believe that the blame for the firearms death toll in the United States can be placed at Hollywood’s door.
The ‘Boogie Nights’ actress said: “It’s really important when you talk about gun safety and people blame entertainment to realise that the entire world consumes the same entertainment as the US, but the US has easy access to weapons. So I am not a big fan of violent movies, but I also don’t blame gun violence on entertainment.”
Julianne’s latest movie is the psychological thriller ‘Sharper’ and she revealed that she is drawn to pictures where she gets to portray realistic characters.
She explained: “I’m attracted to people’s behaviour. It is compelling, complicated.”
Older women are now able to take on tougher roles on the big screen and Moore reflected on the shift that has taken place over the course of her career.
The Oscar-winning star said: “Well, we’re all the heroes of our own story, right?
“Wherever you are in life, seven or seventy, you’re the hero, not the sidekick.”

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu in tears after being eliminated from Dancing on Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Brendyn Hatfield have been eliminated from ‘Dancing On Ice.’
The 28-year-old reality star – who is known for having won ‘Love Island’ in 2022 alongside boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti – had been taking part in the ITV skating competition with professional partner Brendyn, 36, but failed to impress the judges when she landed in the skate off against ‘EastEnders’ actress Patsy Palmer and her professional Matt Evers on Sunday (05.02.23).
After fighting back the tears and having to be comforted by hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, she said: “I’ve put so much time into this. All the work commitments I had at the time, this was my priority and I really gave everything to it. I love it. I really love it and I fell in love with the ice.”
TV star Phillip begged Ekin – who managed to defeat former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton and Łukasz Różycki in the skate off last week – to be “proud” of her achievements on the show and Brendyn echoed his feelings towards the ‘Ekin-Su and Davide: Homecomings’ star.
He said: “I think everyone who has worked with you, and I know how I am, is proud of what you did!”
Following the skate off – in which Patsy and Matt skated to ‘Never Forget You’ by the Noisettes and Ekin-Sun and Brendyn completed a routine set to Ariana Grande hit ‘No Tears Left To Cry – judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill, and Christopher Dean all opted to vote to keep the soap star in the competition, purely based on their performance in the last few minutes of the show.
Matt said: “[Patsy] loves this so much and this was one of her fears to have to do this. That [skate off] was probably the best she has ever skated.”

Lana makes shock recoupling decision on Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Jenkins made the difficult decision to couple up with Casey O’Gorman on ‘Love Island.’
The 25-year-old make-up artist had previously coupled up with Aaron Waters – who was eliminated from the show in the first part of Sunday’s (05.02.23) episode) – and following the decision that the Islanders would recouple, she chose recruitment consultant, 26, over Ron Hall, 25, leaving the financial advisor to pair up with hairdresser Tanyel Revan, 26.
She said: “I have decided to couple up with this boy because he is kind, funny and he makes me smile. Over the last two or three days I have been trying to decide what is best for me. I’ve been fighting a bit between my head and my heart but tonight I’m going with my gut. So the boy I’ve decided to couple up with is Casey.”
Elsewhere during the recoupling, business development executive Ellie Spence, 25, chose to couple up with HR advisor Jordan Odofin, 28, whilst Jessie Wynter chose to remain with Will Young for another week after believing that she is a “very lucky girl” and that the 23-year-old farmer is the “whole package.”
Biomedical science Tanya Manhenga, 22, decided to remain in a couple with airport security guard Shaq Muhammad, 24, claiming that she “couldn’t imagine life without him and estate agent Samie Elishi, 22, described Tom Clare, 23, as being “funny and not bad to look at” before choosing him as her partner.
Finally, ring girl Olivia Hawkins, 27, decided she had “seen some potential” in PE teacher Kai Fagan, 23, so decided to couple up with him after being left single when previous partner and business owner Spencer Wilks, 24, was dumped from the island earlier in the show.
Before the girls had been tasked with recoupling, they had also had to make the decision to dump two boys from the island out of the three who had been deemed the least popular in a public vote, choosing to save Kai and dump Aaron and Spencer with immediate effect.
Announcing their decision, Olivia said: “It was not an easy decision at all but we have decided to dump these two boys from the island because even though we believe they’re both in here for genuine reasons, we think that there may be a stronger connection that has been formed over the last few days. So the boys we have decided to dump from the island are Aaron and Spencer.”
‘Love Island’ next airs on Tuesday (06.02.23) at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX and can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

She explained: “I’m just trying to focus on my job and what I want to do in the future.

He told The Sun newspaper: “We got on really well, but it was a while before I plucked up the courage to ask her on a date.
“She’s a lovely woman and she’s a parent as well, which I think helps. She’s based in Kent and she’s not in the same business as me; I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing!
“I’m not one to rush into relationships and I was single for six years, but it’s nice to have found someone. We’ve been together just under a year and it’s going really well. We had a nice weekend together recently and we’re very happy.”

Michael B. Jordan confirms Creed IV plans

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan has confirmed he is working on plans for ‘Creed IV’.
The actor is preparing to launch the third movie in the boxing series in March which sees him returning as Adonis ‘Donnie’ Creed – the son of Rocky Balboa’s former opponent Apollo Creed – and taking charge of the movie as director and he’s now revealed his plans beyond ‘Creed III’.
When asked if fans can expect a fourth film, he told IGN: “For sure”. Jordan then added: “I just want to expand the ‘Creed’-verse within reason, but definitely expect other things around Creed for sure.”
Jonathan Majors plays Creed’s nemesis in ‘Creed III’ and he previously told fans Jordan is taking the series in a new direction. He told NME: “Michael is really trying to do something different with this Creed. Something that’s a bit more intimate.
“With intimacy comes complexity. It’s he and I. It’s a story about these two men trying to work something out, and it’s very different from the others.”
The sequel will be the first ‘Rocky’ spin-off not to feature original star Sylvester Stallone, but Jordan insisted the “spirit” of Rocky Balboa will be felt throughout the film.
He said last year: “I think that Sly let it be known that he wasn’t coming back for this one but I think, you know, his essence and his spirit… there’s always going to be a little bit of Rocky within Adonis.
“But this is a ‘Creed’ franchise, and we really want to build this story and this world around [Adonis Creed] moving forward.”
