Amanda Seyfried cast in Seven Veils

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Seyfried has been cast in ‘Seven Veils’.
The 37-year-old actress will reunite with ‘Chloe’ director Atom Egoyan for the movie that is set to begin filming in Toronto next week.
In the movie, Amanda plays Jeanine, a theatre director who has been given the daunting task of reviving her former mentor’s most famous work – the opera ‘Salome’.
Jeanine is haunted by dark memories from her past and she allows her repressed trauma to resurface as she returns to the world of opera after many years away.
Egoyan is writing and directing the film and is also producing alongside Niv Fichman, Simone Urdl, Fraser Ash and Kevin Krikst.
The Canadian director said: “I first produce ‘Salome’ for the Canadian Opera Company almost 30 years ago and have been haunted by its themes. This is a project I’ve been dreaming about for years and it’s such a thrill to be reunited with Amanda after the amazing experience we had together making ‘Chloe’.”
Amanda has starred in the ‘Mamma Mia!’ movies as Sophie Sheridan but fears that a third film might not be possible due to a lack of ABBA material.
She said: “Listen, every single person in that movie would say yes in a heartbeat because we want to hang out with each other. That’s what we talked about last time, like did we ever think that we’d end up here again on an island in Croatia?
“So yeah, I wish there was a ‘Mamma Mia 3’, but I’ll tell you what – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and I hope I’m wrong again. I don’t think there are enough ABBA songs to make a third movie. Because we’d have to use ‘Super Trooper’ again and we’d have to use ‘Mamma Mia’ again and have to use them in a different way.”

“I find it brings me great comfort to watch her onscreen.”
Most recently, BBC One confirmed the release date for the highly anticipated spin-off that’s set to air on February 24.

“Working with Sally is a dream, and I can’t wait to continue Humphrey and Martha’s story and solve a few seemingly impossible mysteries along the way.”

Siva Kaneswaran happy to ‘bring the fire and strip off’ to win Dancing On Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Siva Kaneswaran is ready to “strip off” to win ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The 34-year-old singer – who rose to fame 13 years ago as a member of boy band The Wanted – is currently taking part in the latest series of ITV’s figure skating competition alongside professional skater Klabera Komini, and he has vowed to bring the fire to the ice as he’s willing to do what takes to win, even if it means showing some skin.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “I was shy the first week with a suit on, it wasn’t very glittery. But after a couple of weeks of lifting above my head, spinning, I think I’m ready to give the audience a bit of a peak.
“I’ll bring the fire, strip off…as the weeks go on, an extra button comes off. I never ever considered myself as a pin-up but it’s nice to be admired.
“There’s nothing wrong with that. If it’s going to get me some points, I’ll do anything for the points.”
Siva – who tied the knot with designer wife Nareesha in 2015 – said his partner is happy to reap the benefits of his vigorous training regime.
He added: “My missus is quite pleased. I’ve got some serious glutes now and everything is so toned, I’ve got abs.
“Honestly, I feel like Superman. Nareesha’s my Lois Lane. It’s great for her to witness my growth, I’m way more disciplined, way more driven, passionate, creative. She says ‘Oh, my God, he’s so brave and hot and sexy.’ ”
The Wanted singer was left heartbroken when fellow bandmate Tom Parker died aged 33 from brain cancer last year.
Siva, who paid an emotional tribute to the late star during the first episode of ‘Dancing On Ice’, said Tom would have have been perplexed and “taken the pee” out of him.
He said: “It’s been a positive, a way to really find an outlet for my artistic side. Tom would be well shocked, honestly.
“I know he’d take the pee out of me first, and then be a huge supporter. He’d come to all the shows and he’d be online a lot sending videos, posting the videos. He’s my cheerleader, always will be.”

Sue Cleaver insists she’s actually happy even if her face says otherwise

OHMYGOSSIP — Sue Cleaver says despite her “resting b**** face” she’s actually very happy.
The 59-year-old star, best known for playing Eileen Grimshaw on ‘Coronation Street’ since 2000, may look miserable but doesn’t want her icy exterior to fool anyone into thinking she’s as sad as she might appear.
The actress apologised for her frosty facial expression and blamed it on her “resting b**** face”.
Speaking on Sean Walsh’s podcast, ‘What’s Upset You Now?’, she said: “I’m really sorry if it offends you, but there’s not much I can do about that.
“Sometimes I’ve caught sight of myself in a shop mirror and I’ve thought ‘Oh my Lord, I look miserable’. I’m quite happy and jolly inside.”
One thing that did irritate Sue however was people claiming to be “dead funny”. It is one of her biggest pet peeves.
She added: “I can’t stand it. Invariably they’re not funny. It makes my ears want to bleed. I want to stab them through the heart. I’m really sorry, but that’s how I feel.”
Since appearing on the most recent series of ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’, Sue has opened her eyes to new experiences and is ready to take on more challenges.
Whilst reflecting on her life so far, Sue said her 50s has been the happiest decade of her life.
She recently said: “My 50s have been the happiest decade of my life. I’m happy with me and where I am, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the next decade brings.
“Then again, if it doesn’t bring anything, I’m just going to have to make something happen myself. Since doing I’m A Celeb, my eyes have been opened to all these new experiences. Now, I’m just thinking, ‘Right, what’s my next challenge?’ ”

Matt Shakman couldn’t resist Fantastic Four reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Shakman couldn’t resist the chance to direct the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot.
The 47-year-old director exited ‘Star Trek 4’ to turn his attention to the Marvel movie and confessed that the project was impossible to reject.
Speaking to TheWrap, Matt said: “I had a great time working on ‘Star Trek’ for a little over a year, working closely with J.J. Abrams and everyone at Paramount, and I love that franchise, and I love that cast that J.J. put together, and it would have been an unbelievable pleasure to work with them on the fourth installment there.
“But movies have different journeys and momentums and schedules are a little bit mercurial, and so when the ‘Fantastic Four’ opportunity came up, it was just too hard to pass up, and go back home to Marvel, a place that I worked on ‘WandaVision’ at, with those people who are wonderful collaborators.”
The director – whose previous credits include ‘Succession’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ – added: “It’s really a family there and to be able to go back and tackle something that I truly love, and they’re very similar in some ways: they both were launched in the 60s at the same time, they’re both about optimism and looking to the stars and technology can solve everything and they’re about family too – the family you have, the family you make.
“So they’re aligned in many ways and speak to my heart and equally, so I’m excited to be working on ‘Fantastic Four’.”
Lots of casting rumours have been swirling around the ‘Fantastic Four’ film – which is set to be released in 2025 – but Matt insists that it is all just speculation.
He told Collider: “All the casting stuff you see is just rumours. We are early in our process there. We have nothing to announce right now, and certainly, when we do we’ll let you know.”

Michaela Strachan is ‘disappointed’ after Autumnwatch axe but she’s focusing on the positives

OHMYGOSSIP — Michaela Strachan is trying to “focus on the positives” after ‘Autumnwatch’ got cancelled.
The 56-year-old star – who joined the show in 2011 alongside presenter Chris Packham and also fronted the likes of ‘Springwatch’ and ‘Winterwatch’ throughout the year – has addressed the BBC’s decision to make some big changes to its schedule.
As well as ‘Autumnwatch’ being scrapped by the broadcaster, ‘Winterwatch’ will be on air for just one week instead of two.
Asked for her thoughts on the changes, she told the Metro newspaper’s Sixty Seconds column: “I’ve been overwhelmed at all the comments about ‘Autumnwatch’ and the BBC’s decision to axe it this year.
“It goes to show how treasured the ‘Watches’ are!
“Of course it’s disappointing, but let’s focus on the positives – ‘Springwatch’ is not far away and we’re going to work hard to make it a corker.”
The show began as a one-off special in 2005 before going to a full series the following year and the broadcaster said that it is “incredibly proud” of the ‘Watches’ series and thanked its long list of presenters from over the years – which included the likes of Kate Humble, Gillian Burke, Megan McCubbin, and Iolo Williams.
In a statement, the BBC said: “These are challenging times financially and we need to make difficult decisions and focus our resources on content that has the highest impact. Sadly, this means that ‘Autumnwatch’ will not be continuing. Instead, we are investing more money into ‘Springwatch’ and ‘Winterwatch’, as they are most popular with audiences.”
News of the cancellation comes just weeks after Chris – who has fronted the ‘Watches’ series since 2009 – announced that he had axed his upcoming TV work after suffering from burnout and is taking a break for the next few months so he can pursue a career as an animal sculptor.
He said: “I want to get off the treadmill, [I feel] a bit burnt out. I’m not going to buy a Ferrari and run off with a 20-year-old! I’ve never taken three months off work. Never. I can barely sleep I am so excited. I might have to ban [partner] Charlotte from the studio. “I don’t want any interference or disruption, I want to get on with it. It will be good to clear my head and focus on something completely different.”

Paul Rudd had brutal Ant-Man combat scenes with Jonathan Majors

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Rudd had brutal combat scenes with Jonathan Majors in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’.
The 53-year-old star returns as the superhero Scott Lang/Ant-Man in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster and reflected on the experience of taking a punch from Majors, who is portraying supervillain Kang the Conqueror in the movie.
Paul told The Hollywood Reporter at the film’s world premiere on Monday (06.02.23): “It’s legit. It feels intense.
“He’s a great actor, and throughout the entire film, he really felt as if he was a formidable foe. He was also getting ready to go into ‘Creed III’, so anytime we’re doing any of that fight choreography, it was real. It was amazing.”
The movie marks the beginning of Phase 5 in the MCU and director Peyton Reed wanted it to eclipse its predecessors in the ‘Ant-Man’ franchise.
The 58-year-old filmmaker said: “This movie is the biggest of the three. We decided if we had a chance to make a third round, we wanted to go nuts.
“We wanted to beat Scott Lang up a little bit. It’s still comedic, but also it takes a very serious turn. We love the idea of putting the tiniest Avengers, and Avengers that maybe fans think are the least powerful Avengers, and (putting) them up against the most powerful villain in the multiverse.”
Reed had always planned for Kang the Conqueror to feature in the blockbuster and thought that Jonathan was the perfect actor for the part.
He said: “We knew early on that we wanted to put Ant-Man and the Wasp against the big villain.
“I loved Kang growing up as a comics reader. And we looked at a lot of Kangs, but I cast Jonathan because he had it all. He’s physically imposing. He is one of the most exciting actors I have ever met and worked with. He’s just a force of nature.”

Chloe Madeley returned to work because she needed the money

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Madeley returned to work eight weeks after giving birth because she “needs the money”.
The 35-year-old star gave birth to her daughter Bodhi six months ago, and Chloe – who is the daughter of TV stars Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan – has now revealed that money was the main motivation behind her swift return to work.
She said: “James [Haskell, her husband] obviously makes a great income and he’s my partner and that’s fantastic, but we don’t have a joint account.
“We’ve always had separate accounts and I think that’s a bit of a pride thing with me. Next time, if I get pregnant again, I’m absolutely not doing it. I will swallow my pride, I will jump in on James’ account and take at least six months.”
Chloe has returned to work as a personal trainer in recent months and she admits that it’s been an “intense” time for her.
Despite this, the blonde beauty remains determined to protect her mental health amid her return to work.
She told OK! magazine: “With the lack of sleep and the amount of people who are relying on you … that has been a lesson!
“I’m lucky I haven’t had any mental health issues, but during this time when you’re very susceptible to it, take your time. If you’re self-employed it’s tough, but really take your time going back to work – that was a hard lesson for me.”
Chloe was initially in two minds about the prospect of having children. However, she’s now loving the challenge of motherhood.
She shared: “I finally decided I really wanted to have kids and got pregnant and then in my third trimester I slightly regressed and panicked that I might have made the wrong decision.
“And then the second she was born all the way to now, [it’s been] the best decision I’ve made. I’m really happy I did it, I’ve never loved anything so much in my life and I’m just really pleasantly surprised by how well and organically I’ve taken to it. I’m really relieved!”

“But now it’s clear that it’s over and I really do feel that once the trust in a relationship is gone then you can’t really get it back and that’s what I would tell anyone else to do.

Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult starring in The Order

OHMYGOSSIP — Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult are to star in ‘The Order’.
The pair have joined the cast of the true-crime movie that is being directed by the acclaimed Australian filmmaker Justin Kurzel.
The thriller is based on ‘The Silent Brotherhood’, the book by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt that chronicles the crimes of the titular white supremacist domestic terror group.
In 1983, a series of increasingly violent bank robberies and armoured car heists frightened communities throughout the Pacific Northwest in the United States.
Baffled law enforcement agencies are desperate for answers and a lone FBI agent (Law) based in sleepy Idaho comes to believe that the crimes are not the work of traditional criminals but instead a group of dangerous domestic terrorists, inspired by a radical and charismatic leader (Hoult).
Production on the movie will begin in Alberta, Canada in May. Oscar-nominated writer Zach Baylin has written the screenplay.
Kurzel has experience in the crime thriller genre having previously worked on movies such as ‘Snowtown’, ‘True History of the Kelly Gang’ and ‘Nitram’.
Nicholas will play the title role in the upcoming film ‘Renfield’ and had a ball portraying the long-suffering servant to Dracula (Nicolas Cage).
The 33-year-old star said: “Being in the same room with Nic Cage, I mean that’s a trip.
“But being in the same room as Nic Cage whilst he’s dressed as Dracula and tormenting you as Dracula and you’re his servant is really some of the most fun I’ve ever had onscreen whilst being tortured. It’s really brilliant.”

Colin Trevorrow teams up with writer Charmaine DeGrate for Atlantis

OHMYGOSSIP — Colin Trevorrow is teaming up with ‘House of the Dragon’ writer Charmaine DeGrate for the film ‘Atlantis’.
The ‘Jurassic World’ director has closed a deal with Skydance for the feature that had previously been in development at Universal.
Universal had returned the project to Trevorrow and Skydance seized the opportunity to acquire the fantasy feature.
The filmmaker will produce the flick via his Metronome Film Company alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger for Skydance.
A previous draft of the script had been developed at Universal and written by Dante Harper but Trevorrow and DeGrate have now reconceived the project, although it continues to be a fantasy adventure based on the legendary lost city under the sea.
Colin has been involved in all three movies in the ‘Jurassic World’ trilogy and revealed that he is determined to move away from film franchises as he wants to tell a story without having to impress diehard fans.
The 46-year-old director said: “I’ve learned something every day. For me, I’ll be honest, (it’s) being able to potentially make something that doesn’t have a legion of people to whom it’s deeply personal.
“Because I’ve been in that space on two different franchises for eight years of my life now, and it seems even movies that I’ve made that weren’t about either of these were still kind of in the shadow of which franchise I was attached to.”
Trevorrow added: “(I’m ready) to be able to tell stories in a way that hopefully doesn’t have people’s childhood in its hands – because I’m one of those people; I understand it. It’s a very delicate thing to be working with, the way we felt when we saw a movie like ‘Jurassic Park’ when we were nine years old.”

Happy Valley’s ending was sort of perfect, says James Norton

OHMYGOSSIP — James Norton thinks the ‘Happy Valley’ finale was “sort of perfect”.
The 37-year-old actor – who played murderer Tommy Lee Royce in the hit TV series – loved working on the BBC show and he’s hailed writer Sally Wainwright for giving ‘Happy Valley’ a very “human” feel.
James told GQ: “The ending was sort of perfect, in a Sally Wainwright sort of way.
“It was fireworks but it wasn’t fireworks. It was sitting over a kitchen table and that is where ‘Happy Valley’ really thrived. That’s the heart of the whole show. Cups of tea over kitchen tables in kitchens in Yorkshire.
“It’s not a big stunt set pieces on wires and jumping off cliffs, and guns and fireworks. It’s gentle, it’s domestic, it’s human.”
James has often wrestled with the question of whether Tommy is a “psychopath”. But ultimately, James feels there’s still a degree of “humanity” to the character.
The actor said: “There is this constant question ‘is Tommy a psychopath?’ and I have talked about this with people in the production and Sally and Sarah [Lancashire, his co-star].
“The hints were almost laid in the very first series, in episode five, when he’s just been stabbed and he’s facing his own mortality, his own death. And he’s sitting in that high rise and he bursts into tears.
“He thinks, ‘s***, I’ve wasted my life and if I had a different childhood maybe I could have been something in me.’ And if you think back to there, that was where Sally was already planning and carving out this ending I think, because there is humanity there.”

Romesh Ranganathan considered quitting comedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Romesh Ranganathan once considered turning his back on his comedy career.
The 44-year-old star quit his career as a teacher in order to become a comedian – but Romesh has now revealed that he actually considered walking away from stand-up at one point in time.
He explained: “I was providing for my family when I was a teacher.
“But what I decided was … I decided that wasn’t good enough for me. I want to do the thing I really want to do – chasing your dream is one thing and making sacrifices to chase your dream is fine. When you force sacrifices upon other people to chase your dream, that is slightly less noble. And that is something that I had to reconcile with.”
Romesh actually told his wife Leesa that he intended to quit his comedy career.
But the TV star had a late change of heart after winning a competition.
He told the ‘This Is Not What I Asked For’ podcast: “I found Leesa in the morning, I said, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to Leicester this competition. I think I’m going to quit’. And she goes, ‘Just go do the competition, come home, let’s have a chat about it’. And I said, ‘I’m going to go back to teaching, I can’t do this anymore’. And then I went to Leicester. And then I don’t know if it’s I thought this is going to be my last gig or I’m going to quit soon … but the stars aligned, and I won that competition.
“But that in my head, it wasn’t like massive money or whatever. I think a couple of grand was the prize but winning the competition was like a validation. If I hadn’t won that competition, I would have quit comedy.”

James Norton feels ’empathy’ for Tommy Lee Royce

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Happy Valley’s James Norton feels “immense pity and empathy” for Tommy Lee Royce.
The 37-year-old actor has played the ex-convict in the BBC show since 2014, and in spite of his villainous nature, James has grown to love the character.
He shared: “I recognise that there are absolutely despicable acts which he has committed along the way. But along that journey, I have been with him for ten years, I feel deeply sorry for him. I feel immense pity and empathy and I sort of really love him.”
James has also relished the experience of working with Sally Wainwright, the show’s writer, and co-star Sarah Lancashire.
The actor hailed them as “Queens of our industry”.
He told GQ: “You’ve got Sally Wainwright at her absolute best. Sarah Lancashire, standing opposite me, giving her absolute best. These absolute heroes, these Queens of our industry, are the best there are. So it was an absolute privilege.
“I know actors throw those big words around a lot, but it was genuinely one of the most special moments of my career.”
James thinks there’s an element of “genius” to Sally’s writing.
He explained: “Tommy is the villain of the piece. He’s not a classic villain, he’s so far from that. He’s obviously the antagonist, traditionally. But for me personally, I’ve been living a different truth. This is where Sally is a genius, mapping this out in her mind for a decade.”
Sally, 60, previously promised fans that the last season of the show would feature “some very good stories”.
She said: “I think it’s going to be good. I think it’s going to be exciting. We’ve got some very good stories.
“Everyone’s back – all the characters you’d expect to see are back.”

Jeremy Clarkson is ‘the happiest a man can be’ after becoming a grandad

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson has become a grandad.
The TV star’s 28-year-old daughter Emily has taken to social media to announce the arrival of her baby girl, revealing that she’s named her Arlo Rose Andrew.
Emily – who is a podcast host and an author – wrote on Instagram: “Arlo Rose Andrew 1/2/23 [heart emoji]
“we’re all doing really well at home and just loving this time hanging out as a family so will be back online in a little bit xxxxxxx (sic)”
Jeremy, 62, also took to social media to hail the arrival of his grandaughter.
He wrote on Instagram: “The happiest a man can be.”
Emily announced the arrival of her baby girl shortly after she publicly criticised her dad for his controversial comments about Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
The outspoken star sparked outrage when he wrote in a column that he was “dreaming of the day” Meghan would be forced to “parade naked through the streets” while crowds threw excrement at her.
Emily subsequently said: “I want to make it very clear that I stand against everything that my dad wrote about Meghan Markle and I remain standing in support of those that are targeted with online hatred.”
Meanwhile, Jeremy later apologised for his controversial comments.
He said: “Usually, I read what I’ve written to someone else before filing, but I was home alone on that fateful day, and in a hurry. So when I’d finished, I just pressed Send. And then, when the column appeared the next day, the landmine exploded.
“I therefore wrote to everyone who works with me saying how sorry I was and then, on Christmas morning, I emailed Harry and Meghan in California to apologise to them too. I said I was baffled by what they had been saying on TV but that the language I’d used in my column was disgraceful and that I was profoundly sorry.”
