Starstruck Olly Murs: Working with Shania Twain was pinch yourself moment

OHMYGOSSIP — Starstruck’s Olly Murs says working alongside Shania Twain on the show was a “pinch yourself moment” because he’s admired her for years.
The 57-year-old star has joined Adam Lambert, Beverly Knight and Jason Manford as a panellist for season two of the ITV talent show, which will see the ‘Troublemaker’ hitmaker reprise his presenting role.
The pop star, who rose to fame after finishing second in the 2009 series of ‘The X Factor’, couldn’t believe his ears when he heard Shania had signed up for the show.
Olly, 38, told Closer magazine: “It’s definitely a pinch-yourself-moment for me. To hear that Shania was doing the show I was like, ‘Wow. That’s another picture to put on the wall’.
“It’s one off the bucket list to meet Shania and be in her company – someone that I’ve admired from afar for so many years. It’s awesome.”
The talent series, which debuted in February last year, features a singing contest in which members of the public attempt to recreate musical hits by impersonating showbiz stars in a bid to win a £50,000 cash prize.
He added: “It’s happy, fell-good Saturday night television.
“This format works for me because I love music. I love performing for people and I love entertaining. If the right show comes along then I’ll do it.
“I’m trying to juggle a lot of things at the moment, but hosting is definitely something I’d like to do more of.
“Season two will have lots of surprised in store, It’s gone up a notch.”
Country legend Shania – who has sold more than 100 million records, making her the best-selling female artist in the genre’s history – was beyond flattered when asked to join the panel and touched by the Shania impersonators.
She said: “The panel and Olly are all so great – I love them! I wasn’t worried about it, but you never know with personalities.
“Everyone is so lovely. They’re very welcoming and complementary, and there is a great mutual respect among all of us – a real immediate camaraderie.
“I was really flattered, it was like a career highlight.
“The woman put their heart and soul into doing the best Shania they possibly could. I was really touched.”

Alan Carr to front new game show Picture Slam

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Carr will host a new BBC game show, ‘Picture Slam’.
The ‘Chatty Man’ host, 46, will front the new Saturday night quiz show, and admitted he “jumped at the chance” to present the programme.
He said: “Who doesn’t love a good quiz? When I found out the BBC wanted little old me to present ‘Picture Slam’ I jumped at the chance!
“I don’t know if I would be any good at the quiz, but luckily I don’t have to play it!”
The eight-episode series will see three teams face a series of pictures and each picture is worth cash.
The more they can name the more they win, but for the big money they need to name them all and if successful they’ve got a ‘Picture Slam’.
In each round, the teams consisting of two contestants will be presented with a board full of images they need to correctly identify against the clock.
If contestants manage to get a ‘Picture Slam’ they’ll receive a cash bonus.
But only the team who makes it to the final will take home any of their banked cash.
What’s more, if they can find all the required pictures, they will take home the jackpot.
Ed De Burgh and Ben Shephard, Executive Producers for Triple Brew Media, said: “We are super excited to bring this format to the BBC, Alan is the perfect fit for a game that will have the whole family shouting at the TV.
“It’s fun and addictive and appeals to viewers of all ages, who will be able to play along at home every Saturday night.”
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment for the BBC, added: “‘Picture Slam’ is a fast paced Saturday night play along quiz that requires contestants to be fast thinking and fast acting which results in loads of laugh out loud moments, making the quick-witted Alan Carr our perfect ringmaster!”

Barry Keoghan is playing Billy the Kid in passion project biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Barry Keoghan will play Billy the Kid in an upcoming biopic.
The ‘Banshees of Inisherin’ actor – who is nominated for an Oscar for his role in the drama – is set to take on the infamous outlaw with Bart Layton at the helm for the upcoming movie, having worked with him previously on 2018 heist film ‘American Animals’.
Speaking to Deadline, he said: “We’ve seen many versions of Billy the Kid on screen before.
“My interest was in trying to tell a version that breaks from the facade of that cool, calm, and collected gunslinger Billy the Kid that we’re all used to seeing. I wanted to humanise him in a way.”
Keoghan first pitched the idea to Layton during ‘American Animals’, and it is something of a passion project.
Like Billy the Kid himself, Keoghan was born in Ireland and lost his mother age a young age – the actor was 12, while the outlaw lost his mum aged 15.
Explaining his goals, the star added: “I wanted to step outside of the legend that was built up by the papers and tackle the pressure he must have felt from those early days. He was running his whole life.
“I felt related to Billy in the sense of him being a mummy’s boy, but obviously, I took a different path, turning my circumstances into something positive rather than rebelling against them.
“Nevertheless, there’s a soul and a vulnerability to Billy that I think it’s important to bring, to understand him as a real person rather than the myth that he has become.”
Director Layton and producer Ed Guiney are hoping to start work on the movie early in 2024, and it’s an exciting prospect for everyone involved.
Keoghan said: “To have the two of them stand by me on this, knowing it won’t be a small film, knowing we’re going to have to work hard to get it set up, that means a great deal.”

Dwayne Johnson officially finishes work on Red One

OHMYGOSSIP — Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has finished work on ‘Red One’.
The ‘Black Adam’ actor is starring in the Christmas themed blockbuster alongside Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons and he revealed the action comedy has officially wrapped.
He wrote on Instagram: “An absolute privilege to say that’s an official wrap of ‘Red One’.
“What a ride and awakening experience this production has been, in many expected – and unexpected ways.
“Empathy, kindness and seeing the good in all people. Including oneself. We made a good one.
“More to come. Down the road… (sic)”
The Amazon Prime Video project saw The Rock reunite with director Jake Kasdan, whom he previously worked with on ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ and its sequel ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’.
Dwayne will appear in the movie as Callum Drift, with Evans playing Jack O’Malley and Simmons starring as a bulked up Father Christmas.
Although plot details are largely being kept quiet, the film has been hailed as “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre”.
Amazon Studios have developed the movie from an original story by Hiram Garcia – President of Production at The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions company – and landed the film after a competitive bidding war.
Hiram previously said that ‘Red One’ fulfils Seven Bucks’ ambition to make a festive film and is also a movie that fits Dwayne perfectly.
He explained: “We had been looking for something that matched, the tone and tenor of DJ and what DJ brings to the table, so was able to come up with a really fun Christmas idea, but in tone it’s much more of a ‘Hobbs Shaw’, more of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ in tone and vibe because you’re dealing with crazy mythological elements, turning a lot of tropes we know about the holidays on their head, but also really big action and globe-trotting.”
‘Red One’ is expected to be released over the Christmas period in 2023.

Frank Skinner prefers radio to TV because he doesn’t have to shave

OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Skinner prefers radio to TV because he “likes not having to shave”.
The Absolute Radio DJ adores his audio-focused gigs because he can get away with neglecting his beard a bit more, and joked he thinks the human face becomes “quite hard” to look at when people reach their 60s.
Asked if he is happiest on stage, radio or TV, he said: “I’m 66 now. I think the human face gets quite hard to look at when you get to about 60 onwards. So I think probably radio and podcasts is the place for me. Plus, I like not having to shave.”
Frank got “a bit nostalgic” when he and David Baddiel – who he has been in a comedy partnership with since the 90s – redid the ‘Three Lions’ video for the recent re-release of the tune to coincide with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
He loved sharing the experience with his son, Buzz, 10, who he has with his longtime partner, Cath Mason.
Frank added to the Metro newspaper: “When we did the video, it was very hard not to get a bit nostalgic because you had the current us sitting next to the us from 1996.
“One of the nice things about it is, because I have a kid who’s 10 – I started a bit late on the fathering thing – he actually got a chance to see it in the flesh, rather than just take my word about it.
“I’ve been at football grounds with him where everyone’s been singing it. But when I went to school to pick him up last October, they had the telly on in their classroom and I just appeared at the window in a strange juxtaposition of life and art.
“He knows all the words. Now he’s 10, he’s a bit more controlled but when he was six, he used to sing it on public transport and people would look at me as if I’d indoctrinated this small child.”

Coronation Street’s Elle Mulvaney ‘anxious’ to portray non-consensual sex storyline

OHMYGOSSIP — Coronation Street’s Elle Mulvaney was “anxious” to take on a new non-consensual sex storyline.
The 20-year-old actress’ character Amy Barlow is to be raped by Aaron Sandford – who is portrayed by James Craven – in an upcoming episode on March 3rd.
The drunk pair kiss back at the flat they share and she then tells him she fees sick before rolling away from him, but he continues to kiss Amy and makes the decision for her that they will have sex.
Elle said: “Initially when I was given the storyline I was quite anxious to take it on as it’s such an important issue and we wanted to get it right.
“There are so many different viewpoints from the characters but for us it was important that when we portray that night it’s clear that while Amy doesn’t say the words she definitely doesn’t consent.
“That meant that we had to highlight her usual behaviour in the run up to the episode so that she didn’t act uncharacteristically, the characters were getting closer before the event but even though they were friends that doesn’t mean it’s OK for him to do what he wants, this shouldn’t be a grey area.”
A horrified Amy will only find out the next day how far things went the previous night.
Aaron insists he did nothing wrong, while Amy struggles with her emotions as she realises she wasn’t able to consent to sex and was raped.
‘Coronation Street’ researchers have worked alongside The Schools Consent Project – a charity established in early 2015 which sends legally trained volunteers into schools to deliver workshops on the legal definition of sexual consent and key sexual offences – on the hard-hitting plot.
Producer Iain MacLeod said: “Since we started discussing this storyline, I have been struck by the number of people who have put their hands up to say they’ve had a similar experience to Amy.
“This story will be hugely relatable and we hope it will prompt important discussions among our audience about issues around consent.
“The narrative will also be an engrossing, long-running examination of how Amy and Aaron deal with what happened that night and will give actors Elle Mulvaney and James Craven the chance to showcase their considerable skills.”

Prue Leith gets emotional about UK’s ‘dreadful’ assisted dying law

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Prue Leith got emotional as she advocated for reforms that would change the UK’s “dreadful” assisted dying law.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ judge has made a Channel 4 documentary, ‘Prue and Danny’s Death Road Trip’ – which airs on Thursday at 9pm – outlining her belief that the rules around supported suicide should be changed in light of her brother David dying from bone cancer in 2012.
Prue appears in the new documentary alongside her son, Conservative MP Danny Kruger, 48, who opposes changing the law.
While appearing on ‘Good Morning Britain’, the 82-year-old television personality said: “I still feel the law as it stands is just dreadful for dying people. Thousands face a horrible death every year. The law just isn’t working and we should change it.”
Prue, while tearing up, continued: “I think many many people have come to the conclusion we have to allow help for dying people who want to die.
“If you see people in agony – and it’s interesting that more nurses than doctors support our side of the argument, because they are the ones that see the agony of dying. Doctors do their round when everybody is full of drugs and feels fine.”
Prue also highlighted the lack of options for people facing “horrible” deaths.
She said: “Thousands of [people] face a horrible death every year and what choice do they have?
“They can commit suicide, which is perfectly legal. They can put up with it, just suffer, or they can go to Switzerland, which is expensive and very few people can afford it, and who wants to go to Switzerland to die? At the moment, the law just isn’t working and we should change it.”
Danny – who has been the parliamentary representative for Devizies since 2019 – believes that instead of focusing on people dying in pain ending their lives, palliative care ought to be improved.
Under English law, euthanasia and assisted suicide are illegal.
It states on the NHS website: “When you’re approaching the last stage of your life, you have a right to high quality, personalised end of life care that helps you live as well as possible until you die.”

Peaky Blinders could get own theme park

OHMYGOSSIP — Councillors in Birmingham are looking for collaborators to devise a concept for a potential ‘Peaky Blinders’ theme park.
The BBC gangster series – which told the story of the Shelby family for six seasons between 2013 to 2022 – is already getting a big screen spin-off, but and it is now expected to get an amusement park after becoming a cultural force across the world, by inspiring a revival of interest in 1920s and 1930s fashion and history.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “This may sound like a crazy idea but ‘Peaky Blinders’ was such a phenomenon and it’s reaped huge rewards for Britain.
“Although the show was ultra-violent, it also showcased our industrial past, not to mention a whole new wave of fashion and haircuts.
“So it’s actually a no-brainer for tourism chiefs keen to get the maximum draw and make the most of a TV show that was an international hit.”
The local council has been seeking collaborators to devise a concept for the attraction – which has it eyes as on the canal network around Digbeth Lock – amid the planned movie entering production.
In October, Cillian Murphy – who played gang leader Tommy Shelby in the show, which also starred Paul Anderson, Tom Hardy, Sophie Rundle, Anya-Taylor Joy and the late Helen McCrory – revealed the script was “close” to being done.
The 46-year-old actor said: “Yes, I believe so. I’ve still not read it [the script] but that’s the plan, the plan is to make a film and to continue the story but in the cinematic world rather than on the television.
“The television part of the story is finished. If there’s more stories to tell, I’m there. I just haven’t read it yet, but it’s close apparently.”

ITV’s Masked Dancer ‘rested for 2023’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Masked Dancer’ has been rested after two series following a schedule shake up.
The ‘Masked Singer’ spin-off series, which launched in 2021, isn’t expected to return for a third series later this year, as TV bosses are said to have taken the decision to make room for this year’s Rugby World Cup, which will air on ITV in the autumn.
An insider told The Sun newspaper “Fans will be gutted, but ‘The Masked Dancer’ is being rested for 2023.
“Instead, ITV are showing the Rugby World Cup over the autumn.
“This doesn’t mean it can’t come back in 2024, and ITV have plans for other specials like ‘The Masked Singer I’m A Celeb’ show.”
The show, which followed a similar format to the singing competition, saw 12 celebs show off their dance moves as they battled it out incognito, while the judging panel – made up of Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan – tried to guess who was underneath the masks.
Before their true identity underneath the elaborate outfits was revealed by the show’s host Joel Dommett, the mystery stars gave clues in between and during their performances as to who they were.
Last year, former ‘Glee’ star Heather Morris was crowned champion of the talent show.
Heather, who was unveiled as Scissors, was up against Onomatopoeia, who was revealed as Hollywood heartthrob Adam Garcia.
Heather gleefully said at the time: “I was a dancer for Beyonce, I danced with her, I was one of two back-up dancers in [Single Ladies].
“I have had the best time. Seriously, this has made my heart so full.
“My kids at home, I have two boys, we are huge Masked fans. My oldest, during the pandemic, would make masks himself… when I got the call for this, hands down, of course I’m going to do this, my kids will be in awe of me.”

Blackadder creator Richard Curtis confirms iconic show returning for Comic Relief

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Blackadder’ creator Richard Curtis has confirmed the show is returning for Comic Relief.
The iconic BBC sitcom is to return for a charity special with Tony Robinson reprising his role as Baldrick, the servant of Rowan Atkinson’s character Edmund Blackadder.
Speaking to Gary Davies on BBC Radio 2, Richard said: “For the first time in 20 years, Baldrick is going to be giving some kind of performance.
“We’re just conspiring about it now, so I think there’s going to be a marvellous, turnip-based thing with Tony Robinson now back in action, so I’m excited about that.”
But Rowan will not be returning for the special.
Asked if the actor is going to be in the Comic Relief special, Richard added: “No [laughs]. Rowan’s far too serious to do any of that.”
‘Blackadder’ originally ran for four series and two specials from 1983 to 1989, and another special ‘Blackadder: Back and Forth’ aired in 1999.
Each series of ‘Blackadder’ covered a different period of history, including the Middle Ages, Elizabethan England, the Georgian Era and a run of episodes focused on the trenches during World War One.
Ben Elton co-write series two, three and four with Richard, but admitted last year he didn’t have any “appetite” for more seasons of the show.
Quizzed on whether he could reunite with Richard for a new series, he said: “We were a great team and I’ve talked so many times about doing something else. Not ‘Blackadder’ again, I don’t think either of us feel any appetite to do that.”
In 2018, Tony admitted he could see “a version” of the programme returning.
He said at the time: “I do see a version of the show coming back. There are a host of other periods in history which could be turned into a six-part ‘Blackadder’ series. We’d have to get the old group back together again.
“I know everyone is busy doing wonderful things, but we all have fond memories so I’m sure we would work it out.”

Johnny Vegas: Getting wedged in a tunnel spurred me on to lose weight

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Vegas has told how getting stuck in a tunnel abroad was a huge “wake up call” that spurred him on to lose weight.
The 52-year-old comedian was honeymooning in Vietnam with ex-wife Maia Dunphy back in 2011 when his “midriff got jammed” going down a tunnel.
The ‘Benidorm’ star, who weighed around 18 stone at the time, has now trimmed down to 12 stone after ditching calorific treats, and admitted the embarrassing incident made him take his health seriously after he was wedged in for over 10 minutes.
Speaking to The Sunday Times newspaper, he said: “Ha Long Bay was spectacular … but I had a bit of a mishap when we visited one of those underground tunnel systems the Viet Cong used to hide in during the Vietnam War.
“I was told they’d dug a larger tunnel to show Westerners, but I still got wedged in it.
“I got my legs through but then my midriff jammed.
“I was there for 10 minutes (and) people were like, ‘Shall we go and get help?’ and I was like ‘No, I can do this, please, just pull my arms’.
“It was a positive thing in the end, though. One of those wake-up call moments about my health.”
The Cu Chi tunnels, are an immense network of connecting tunnels in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, that stretches over 400km.
The underground trenches were dug out manually by the Vietnamese and Viet Cong guerrillas during the Vietnam war that took place from 1955 to 1975.
The Viet Cong soldiers hid there to protect themselves during the Vietnam War.

Leslie Grace: Batgirl had the potential to be an incredible movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Leslie Grace thinks that ‘Batgirl’ could have been a “good film”.
The 28-year-old star was due to play the lead role in the unreleased superhero movie and has rejected suggestions from DC Studios co-chair Peter Safran that the film was “not releasable” after having the chance to watch some scenes.
Asked if she saw the final cut of the flick, Leslie told Variety: “That’s the one thing I asked for. I got to see the film as far as it got to; the film wasn’t complete by the time it was tested. There were a bunch of scenes that weren’t even in there.
“But the film I got to see – the scenes that were there – was incredible. There was definitely potential for a good film, in my opinion. Maybe we’ll get to see clips of it later on.”
Warner Bros. Discovery announced last August that ‘Batgirl’ was being shelved and Leslie revealed that she tried her best to see the positive side of the “deflating” news.
The ‘In The Heights’ actress recalled: “It was like deflating a balloon. On that day, I was very much just taking it all in, but also so sure of the magic that happened – in my experience and what I saw in my cast, in our team – that I was like, ‘This must be some crazy thing that we have no control over.’
“I tend to be a very optimistic and positive person in these types of circumstances, and I just really leaned on the beauty of the idea that I got to have this experience in my life.
“Even though I would’ve loved to share that with the rest of the world, nothing can take that experience away from us.”

Kathryn Newton took inspiration from Ant-Man predecessor Abby Ryder Fortson

OHMYGOSSIP — Kathryn Newton took inspiration from Cassie Lang predecessor Abby Ryder Fortson for her performance in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’.
The 26-year-old actress plays the role in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster and drew heavily on Abby’s portrayal of the younger Cassie for her take on the daughter of Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd).
Asked if she had studied the previous films, Kathryn told The Hollywood Reporter: “Oh, yes! I love the ‘Ant-Man’ movies. I love how they’re really rooted in a father-daughter relationship, and that’s really the heart of this movie. And Abby was so cute and joyful and just magical in both movies. So we thought about her a lot, especially in creating what she looks like now.
“We wanted her to stay brunette, so I had a seamless transition, and I was so excited to introduce this new phase of Cassie. She still has that same spark of energy, that joy, that love and a big, big heart. So I hope that audiences feel it because that’s what I wanted to show.”
Kathryn explained that she didn’t want Cassie to be “perfect” in the flick but does make it clear that her heart is in the right place.
The ‘Freaky’ star said: “And the little bit we get to meet Cassie in this movie, I wanted the audience to know she’s fighting the good fight. She’s sticking up for the little guy, and she’s not thinking too much about it. If it’s the right thing to do and someone needs help, she’s going to do it.
“That’s pretty brave, and it makes for a good movie because she makes a lot of mistakes trying to do the right thing. She kind of trips over herself and is clumsy, but she’s a good character because she’s got a place to go. She’s not perfect.”

Will Young and Layla Al-Momani kiss on Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Young and Layla Al-Momani have shared a kiss on ‘Love Island’.
The 23-year-old farmer and Layla, 28, locked lips after they flirted with each other on the sofa.
Talking about Will’s romance with Jessie, Layla observed: “I think you bring more to her than she brings to you.”
Will subsequently admitted that Layla could turn his head, and as the conversation continued, Will told her: “You’re making me shy now…”
Layla later asked: “Shall I call you daddy tonight?”
Will then admitted to being a “kinky boy”, adding: “There’s a lot of sexual tension, isn’t there?”
Will previously revealed that he’s looking for a girl with “energy”.
The TikTok star also insisted that he isn’t necessarily seeking someone from similar background to himself.
Before entering the ‘Love Island’ villa, he said: “My mum didn’t step on the farm for the first 20 years of my mum and dad’s marriage!
“What attracts me is energy, if the energy is there, she can do whatever she wants.
“As long as she respects what I do and my busy times of the year, then that’s all I need. If she loves it, bonus! But it’s not a big issue for me.”
Elsewhere, Olivia Hawkins shared a steamy kiss with Maxwell Samuda.
The 27-year-old beauty admitted that she was in Casa Amor “for herself” before she kissed Maxwell behind the back of Kai Fagan.
The smooch took place after the duo went to the terrace together, and Maxwell asked Olivia whether she was “holding back to stop hurting someone’s feelings”.

Paddy McGuinness-fronted shows I Can See Your Voice and Catchpoint ‘not expected to return’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘I Can See Your Voice’ and ‘Catchpoint’ are not expected to return this year.
The two Saturday night BBC shows were both presented by Paddy McGuinness, and the star is expected to be on the lookout for some new projects.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “This will come as a real blow to Paddy, who’s made a firm commitment to the Beeb since he quit ITV four years ago.
“Both ‘I Can See Your Voice’ and ‘Catchpoint’ saw him retain his place as a star of Saturday night TV, something he forged fronting dating favourite ‘Take Me Out’ on ITV.
“But these axings mean that’s effectively gone, so he’s likely to be looking for new projects to fill the void.
“He remains hugely popular with viewers, who see him as a relatable and funny bloke they want to welcome into their living rooms. He is likely to bounce back in some way.”
Mystery music game show ‘I Can See Your Voice’ aired for two series and a ‘Children in Need’ charity special.
It saw a guest artist and two contestants attempt to try to eliminate the bad singers from a group of six “mystery singers” – without hearing them sing.
Alison Hammond, Jimmy Carr, and Amanda Holden sat on the judging panel.
‘Catchpoint’ saw two teams going head to head as they attempted to catch big balls to win cash prizes.
Paddy also co-hosts ‘Top Gear’ alongside Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris, but the programme is currently on hold.
The BBC stopped production on the motoring show last month after presenter Freddie was seriously injured in a car crash during filming.
In June, Paddy admitted he was convinced ‘Top Gear’ will continue for the foreseeable future and will “always change hosts”.
He said at the time: “It’s our show now and we’re all in it, you know, and who knows further down the line it’ll stop here or carry on going … it’ll always change hosts.”

Marvel have ‘big’ plans for Tom Holland as Spider Man

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Feige says Marvel have “big” plans for the future of Tom Holland as Spider-Man.
The Marvel Studios president has weighed in on what’s to come from the actor’s version of the iconic comic book web slinger – whose last big screen appearance came in 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ – as the MCU looks ahead to Phases 5, 6 and beyond.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “All I will say is that we have the story. We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now.”
There is no confirmation – or even a hint – of what the story will lead to, whether that’s another solo movie or an appearance in an ‘Avengers’ project.
However, it’s a no-brainer for Marvel to look at doing more with Holland’s take on Peter Parker and his superhero alter ego after ‘No way Home’ pulled in more than $1.9 billion at the global box office and brought back former Spider-Men Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
The rights to Holland’s Spider-Man are basically shared by Disney’s Marvel Studios and Sony, with Feige serving as producer on Sony’s solo films.
Meanwhile, franchise producer Amy Pascal previously confirmed a new trilogy is being developed with Holland at the centre.
She said: “This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie.
“We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel, it just isn’t part of … we’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.”
However, the actor himself later insisted: “We’ve had conversations about the potential future of Spider-Man, but at the moment, they are conversations. We don’t know what the future looks like.”
