Suki Waterhouse wants to rock for real after Daisy Jones and the Six

OHMYGOSSIP — Suki Waterhouse wants to rock for real after playing a musician on TV.
The ‘Daisy Jones and The Six’ star gushed about the “labour of love” that the cast – which includes Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough and Sam Claflin – experienced to really “become” the titular music group in the upcoming mini-series, which is based on the Taylor Jenkins-Reid book of the same name.
The 30-year-old actress is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column as saying: “Learning these songs has just been such an incredible labour of love. And when we actually all get to be on stage, performing them, singing them note perfect, everybody’s literally as good.
“We could go and perform on the Sunset Strip. I don’t really know many kinds of movies or TV shows where you can actually become a band.
“We can actually all play together.”
Suki – who is currently on tour with her new music career – recently shared how “happy” she is in her five-year relationship with ‘Twilight’ star Robert Pattinson, 36, as the Amazon Prime Video series gears up to launch in March.
She said: “I am so happy with someone for nearly five years.
“I had two days off the other day, and it was like, no question I’m going back to see him. Then he’ll come out for a couple of days.
“Rob definitely isn’t getting advice from me about acting, but of course, I’ll try and get him to help me with an audition before he falls asleep on the sofa.
“I’m always incredibly excited when I see his name pop up [on my phone] or even a text, and I think he feels the same about me.”
“We’ve always got so much to say, and I find him hilarious.”

AJ Pritchard claims Arabella Chi ‘cost him 50k’ on game show The Challenge

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ dancer AJ Pritchard has claimed ex-‘Love Island’ star Arabella Chi cost him £50,000 on new game show ‘The Challenge’.
The 28-year-old professional dancer was partnered up with Arabella in the new Channel 5 series – which is hosted by Mark Wright, and sees celebrities take on extreme physical tests – but he insists she was the reason he didn’t win a share of the £100,000 prize pot.
Speaking about Arabella – who appeared on the ITV2 dating show alongside AJ’s brother Curtis Pritchard in 2019 – AJ said: “We did not make the final three.
“If myself and Arabella made the final three, I’d have put my life on it that I would’ve won that show.
“But it seems as though it was Arabella that got Curtis knocked out and it was Arabella again that got me knocked out the final and lost me £50,000.”
AJ says he won’t be able to forget about losing out on a possible five-figure sum for the rest of his days.
He added to The Sun newspaper: “I’m just going to throw it out there.
“That’s a touchy subject and it’s going to be touchy and a bit raw for the rest of my life!”
Asked if he’d like to meet Arabella away from the show, he said: “No! Unless she’s got £50,000 to hand over. She cost me the win.”
Mark recently admitted he was “really nervous” to host the game show, which was filmed in Argentina last year.
He said: “It was a big deal for me being the host of a show starring 16 reality stars or celebs.
“It’s proof that all the hard work, from hosting children’s shows to moving to America and putting in the ground work, is paying off.
“I was really nervous to walk out and see what their response was, especially when they have all come from the same place I did – reality TV.”

EastEnders’ Kellie Bright reveals cast filmed 2 flash forward scenes

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ star Kellie Bright has revealed the cast only found out in last night’s (20.02.23) episode that a male character is going to die at Christmas, after they filmed two different flash-forward scenes.
The 46-year-old star’s character Linda Carter is one of six of Walford’s much-loved matriarchs, Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) who appeared in the scene, which zoomed forward to Christmas 2023.
It saw Sharon check the pulse of a body on the floor before declaring: “He’s dead.”
Kellie said: “Someone’s dead on the floor, we had a stand-in, a body double, if you like, come in.
“When we filmed it, they made Tish [Letitia Dean] film it two ways – a ‘he’s dead’ and a ‘she’s dead’. So watching it last night was really the first time that I was like, ‘Oh it is a man.’
“There’ll be lots of red herrings.”
Kellie also pointed out that her character Linda has a split lip in the scene.
She said: “One of the things that you can’t really see on that is that I had a split lip.
“I don’t know why, or how I’ve ended up with a split lip.”
The sextet have already started a WhatsApp group to discuss their theories.
Asked on ‘This Morning’ if they had started a WhatsApp group, she added: “We have, yeah.”
The episode will act as a catalyst for major storylines involving each of the characters that will play out over the year.
Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw has urged viewers to re-watch the flash forward scene and look closely for clues.
He said: “I’m not going to give anything away that the episode hasn’t already given, but what I will say is there were clues in there. Did you look closely?
“I urge everyone to re-watch the scene and look at every detail. There’s also a few treats in the scene if you look hard enough.
“What I’d also say is that a lot can happen in Walford between February and December – circumstances can change, relationships can change, loyalties can change – so what you may suspect now could be somewhat different as we make our way through 2023 and head towards Christmas.”

John Cleese apologises for rebooting Fawlty Towers

OHMYGOSSIP — John Cleese has apologised for rebooting ‘Fawlty Towers’.
The Monty Python star insists he had “no idea” bringing back the classic 70s sitcom, with his daughter Camilla Cleese, 39, would cause such “anger and distress”.
The 83-year-old comedian wrote on Twitter: “I must apologise. I had no idea that the idea of writing a new sitcom with my daughter would cause so much anger and distress.
“I truly mean no harm. Naively I thought it would be fun.
“But I feel terrible about having released this tide of negative emotion. Please forgive me”.
The iconic sitcom spanned 12 episodes over two series from 1975 to 1979 on the BBC, with John starring as hotel owner Basil Fawlty.
Recently, John has hinted he may set the rebooted show on a Caribbean island rather than the Devon seaside town of Torquay.
He said: “When I look at old clips now all these wonderful English character actors aren’t with us anymore, so suddenly we thought that if the only continuing character is Basil, then we can come up with something surprising.
“Then we thought, ‘Where?’ Not in a small English town, but somewhere more fun and much more different – say a Caribbean island or something like that with a small bijou hotel with a few rich people coming to stay!”
The ‘A Fish Called Wanda’ star has also ruled out creating the Rob Reiner-supported reimagining of the show with the BBC, due to a lack of “freedom”.
John said: “I’m not doing it with the BBC because I won’t get the freedom. I was terribly lucky before, because I was working for the BBC in the late 60s, 70s, and the beginning of the 80s.
“That was the best time because the BBC was run by people with real personalities who loved the medium and who were operating out of confidence, which was okay because there wasn’t so much competition.”

Riz Ahmed connected to Martin Scorsese movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Riz Ahmed was inspired by the work of Martin Scorsese.
The 40-year-old actor has revealed that the family themes of the legendary director’s classic 1990 gangster movie ‘Goodfellas’ resonated with him as he was growing up.
Riz – who was the first Muslim to be nominated for the Best Actor Oscar in 2021 – told the Metro newspaper: “I think the amazing thing about stories is that you can feel really ‘seen’ and understood, even by watching characters who don’t look anything like you and aren’t from anywhere similar to where you’re from.
“I certainly felt that in a massive way watching Martin Scorsese’s films. Watching ‘Goodfellas’. Just something about their sense of duty and family honour taking such a pride of place in those films is something that resonated.”
He continued: “That’s the magic thing about films. Underneath the differences that seemingly separate us, they can excavate a common well of emotion that all share.”
Riz serves as an executive producer on the Pakistani film ‘Joyland’ and described the film as “groundbreaking”.
The ‘Mogul Mowgli’ star said: “‘Joyland’ is the most unexpected love story you’ve ever seen. It’s a love story between a transgender dance-hall star and an unhappily married man in Lahore in Pakistan.
“But it also takes a look at how our sense of duty and tradition and our fears stand in the way of our joy and love. It’s a groundbreaking film and achieved all these firsts (the first Pakistani feature film to be shortlisted for an Academy Award and the first film by a Pakistani director to win at the Cannes Film Festival). But it’s really an emotional, crowd-pleasing movie.”

Dame Helen Mirren likens Golda Meir to Queen Elizabeth I

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Helen Mirren found playing Golda Meir similar to portraying Queen Elizabeth I.
The Oscar-winning actress stars as the former Israeli Prime Minister in ‘Golda’ and compared the politician’s “maternal” instinct to that of the Tudor monarch, who she played in the 2005 TV miniseries ‘Elizabeth I’.
Helen, 77, told The Hollywood Reporter at the Berlin International Film Festival premiere of the biopic on Monday (20.02.23): “(Golda) was extraordinarily brave and her commitment to Israel was total.
“It was a bit like playing Elizabeth the first of England, in the sense (of) her commitment to her country and to her nation. She achieved it without being the sort of power mad dictator character.
“She was very maternal. She had that wonderful domestic side to her. She was happiest when she was on the kibbutz looking after the chickens, but life took her on a different path.”
The movie is set during the 1973 Yom Kippur War and sees Meir – who had been diagnosed with cancer – leading Israel after the country is rocked by a surprise twin attack by Arab powers Syria and Egypt on the morning of the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur.
Israel had faced complete military defeat by Meir’s effective war leadership helped the country to secure a surprise victory that changed the face of the Middle East and director Guy Nattiv took inspiration from the classic film ‘Das Boot’.
He said: “In the sense that she is in the trenches, she is in one location and cannot leave, she’s very alone in the mayhem of the war.
“This is a very tough and hard look at the war and every soldier that dies. So for me it was going in with my eyes open. Golda is not a super clear character in this movie. She had her faults, she made mistakes and she took responsibility, which leaders are not doing today.”

Tanya Manhenga denies lying to Martin Akinola

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’s Tanya Manhenga claims she “didn’t have the opportunity” to tell Martin Akinola about her kiss with Shaq Muhammad.
The 23-year-old beauty insisted she never lied to Martin, after he called Tanya “insincere” and slammed her behaviour over recent days.
Martin told her: “When I was speaking to you, you never told me you were a liar.
“You’re not sincere, you made me look like I was dumb, you’re a liar.”
Tanya subsequently denied the accusation of lying, insisting she simply didn’t have the time to explain the situation.
She said: “You’ve said your piece, yeah, you’re not going to call me a liar because you’re bitter. I didn’t tell you about the kiss, I didn’t have the opportunity. I am not a liar.
“If you’re upset about the way things were I apologise but I had to go with my heart.”
Tanya took the decision to dump the Casa Amor bombshell after realising that her heart was still with Shaq.
She previously told Shaq: “I don’t want anyone else. It doesn’t matter who walks through this door. It doesn’t matter what happens, what challenge is there … I don’t care about winning, I don’t care about anyone speaking to me. I only want you.”
Tanya also apologised to Shaq.
She added: “I just want to let you know, from the bottom of my heart, I love you so much.”
Meanwhile, ‘Love Island’ bosses have confirmed the return of Movie Night.
The segment – which will air on Wednesday night (22.02.23) – will see the Islanders watch unseen moments from their time on the show.

Sir David Jason’s Still Open All Hours axed by BBC

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Still Open All Hours’ has been axed.
The BBC have confirmed there are “no plans” to make new episodes of the sitcom – which starred Sir David Jason as Granville and was a sequel to classic comedy ‘Open All Hours’ – after six seasons on air.
A spokesperson told the Daily Star newspaper: “There are currently no plans for new episodes of ‘Still Open All Hours’.
“We’d like to thank the cast and crew for six wonderful series, which are all available to view on BBC iPlayer.”
A seventh series was reportedly planned but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic before being scrapped entirely.
A spokesperson said about possible new episodes in 2020: “Discussions on future episodes are ongoing.
“The safety and wellbeing of all those involved in ‘Still Open All Hours’ is our number one priority, and we have been unable to film this year due to COVID-19.”
The original programme starred the late, great Ronnie Barker as shopkeeper Arkwright and aired for four series from 1973 to 1985, before making a comeback in 2013.
David, 83, previously opened up on the reasons fans are still so passionate about the long running show.
Speaking just before the sixth season aired, he said: “It’s just escapism. It’s a vehicle to make people laugh, that’s all it is.
“There’s a lot of people fed up with the constant grind, and the dramas getting heavier and heavier.”
The original run of the show only had 26 episodes across the four series’ but the revival – which was commissioned as a result of the popularity of the 2013 one-off special – featured in 41 over six series.
David recently admitted he nearly turned down the original show because he initially felt he was “too old” to portray Granville, the nephew and errand boy of Ronnie’s shopkeeper alter-ego Arkwright.
He said: “I thought I was too old to play it. Meaning that if Granville was delivering groceries at that age, would he be not as bright, maybe? That was the thing that held me back.
“But when I explained this to the director and to Ronnie B, they both understood, and said, ‘It will work. It will be alright.’ Those fears were put to rest and I just – well, we just all loved it.”

Joel Dommett left clueless by some Masked Singer identities

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Masked Singer’ host Joel Dommett doesn’t always know the celebrities he unmasks.
The 37-year-old comic admitted he was left baffled during the first series of the singing contest when he was tasked with revealing the identity of former Home Secretary Alan Johnson – but had to fake his astonishment because he had no idea who the 72-year-old politician was.
He said: “The problem is that when it comes to reveals, I don’t know everyone in the world.
“In the first series there was Pharaoh, this Egyptian guy. And it was like, ‘Take it off, take it off, take it off,’ and the producer says in my ear, ‘It’s Alan Johnson’.
“So I say, ‘Oh my god, it’s Alan Johnson!’
“But inside I’m like, ‘Who the f*** is Alan Johnson. He just looked like a friend of my dad’s.”
And Joel admitted he did some of the worst presenting work of his career when A-ha frontman Morten Harket was revealed as the voice behind Viking in 2021.
He added to The Sun newspaper: “Another year there was a guy called Morten Harket, he’s quite a famous person apparently, he was the lead singer of A-ha.
“But I’m not a 55-year-old woman so I don’t know that the lead singer of A-ha is Morten Harket.
“The problem is I’ve got to remember their name because I have to say it again at the end. And I gave one of the worst interviews I’ve ever given because all I could think was, ‘It’s not Morgan Freeman’.”
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ contestant enjoyed some ‘Masked Singer’-themed private bookings during the COVID-19 lockdown and had a great time.
He said: “During Covid times companies started asking me to do versions of ‘The Masked Singer’ over Zoom.
“At the end of it it was like ‘Take it off, take it off’ and then I’m like, ‘It’s Ann from accounts!’”

‘It’s not that weird’: Alison Brie doesn’t find it ‘uncomfortable’ having husband Dave Franco direct her sex scenes

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Brie doesn’t feel “uncomfortable” with her husband, Dave Franco, directing her sex scenes.
The 40-year-old actress gets intimate with Jay Ellis in her latest film ‘Somebody I Used To Know’ but she insisted neither she nor her 37-year-old spouse were fazed by the fact he was the person behind the camera because the project comes first.
She explained to Jezebel: “We’ve worked together enough now.
“The second movie that we did together ever, as actors, was Jeff Baena’s ‘The Little Hours’, and in that movie, Dave has make-out or sex scenes with three other actors and me. So, I just feel like that was the ripping of the band-aid.
“I realise that it sounds wild, but we are actors, this is our job. It’s actually not that weird.
“And with something like this, because it’s our baby that we made together, I think our first priority is always just the movie. Does the scene feel right and good? We don’t want my romantic scenes with [Jay ] to play awkwardly or strangely in any way.”
Alison – who also worked with Dave on ‘The Disaster Artist’, ‘The Rental’ and ‘Horse Girl’ – previously admitted she and her husband “usually do have some kind of conversation” if they take on an acting project with a sex scene, “just to give the other person a heads-up.”
The former ‘Mad Men’ star added last summer: “You don’t want to blindside anyone, I think, with that information. But at the same time, it’s a part of our job. It’s a strange part, and I can see how to the outside eye [it might come off].
“We’re all professionals and when we’re in character, it’s its own thing.
“It’s like we work in this strange job that just requires ultimate vulnerability at a moment’s notice. It’s just what we signed up for.”

Rose Byrne: Insidious fans make me so proud

OHMYGOSSIP — Rose Byrne is shocked by the popularity of ‘Insidious’.
The 43-year-old star plays the role of Renai Lambert in the horror franchise and is amazed that the films have had a lasting impact from humble beginnings.
Rose told Collider: “I get little tidbits now and again about how it’s, particularly the first one, how it’s become more of a cult hit than I knew. That’s really delightful. Oh my God, we did that film in 22 days for about $8.50.
“Obviously, it was with (writer) Leigh (Whannell) and (director) James (Wan) who had a great horror pedigree, but they’d had a pretty bad experience within the studio system in the last couple of movies. So they just went completely independent, raw filmmaking, back to their roots of independent filmmaking with Blumhouse.
“So when I hear the trickle-down effect and how it has affected people in different ways now, it’s delightful.”
Rose is reprising the part in the upcoming movie ‘Insidious: Fear the Dark’ and had a “natural ease” with co-star Patrick Wilson – who will make his directorial debut on the flick.
The ‘Troy’ actress said: “Oh, it was cute. OK, cute is not the word, but Patrick is… We have a very natural ease.
“He’s very down to earth. He’s got kids and a family, and he’s such a pro. He has been doing it for so long, and (he) and James, he’s James’ muse in many ways. He’s been in every one of his projects.”
Rose continued: “I thought it felt like a natural progression that he would want to continue the story. He really worked so hard on the script for a long time.
“We had the pandemic, obviously, but we started talking about it, I think it was in 2019, I honestly do, before we actually shot it. So he was already really working hard on it then.”

Charlie Simpson wins The Masked Singer

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Simpson has won ‘The Masked Singer’.
The 37-year-old singer – who shot to stardom as part of Busted – has won the latest series of the ITV show, as Charlie was revealed to have been behind the Rhino mask.
Speaking about his experience on the programme, Charlie shared: “I was terrified the entire time. The thing I was scared most of was remembering lyrics. I often forget lyrics to my own songs on stage!”
Charlie also confessed to being pessimistic about his chances of winning the show at the start of the competition.
Despite this, the singer – who sang songs such as Snow Patrol’s ‘Chasing Cars’ and Pink’s ‘Try’ – was determined to have fun on the programme, regardless of the result.
Asked if he felt he would win the series by host Joel Dommett, the pop star replied: “No, I was just like, ‘remember the lyrics and have fun.'”
Earlier in the show, Natalie Appleton was unmasked as Fawn.

Lily James: I’m proud to play a modern young women who sleeps around in What’s Love Got to Do with It?

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily James says her ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It?’ character is a realistic “modern young woman” who is “going on dates” and “sleeping around”.
The 33-year-old actress stars in the new romantic comedy as dating app addict Zoe and found that she could relate to her alter ego’s challenge of mixing career ambitions with the search for romance, with many mistakes along the way.
Speaking to HeyUGuys.com, Lily said of her character: “I love that she’s a young woman figuring it out. She’s going on dates, she’s sleeping around. She’s really passionate about what she does, really ambitious.
“She’s figuring out how to manage all of that in her life and to me it felt like a modern conundrum and something myself and my friends all face so I think she really feels like a modern young woman.”
The movie follows documentary maker Zoe as she films her childhood friend and neighbour Kaz’s (Shazad Latif) journey from London to Pakistan as he marries a stranger. Zoe begins to wonder if she could learn something from a different way of finding love.
Lily has praised the film – which also stars Dame Emma Thompson and Shabana Azmi – for its “unjudgemental” study of romance.
The ‘Pam and Tommy’ actress explained: “I think the film really celebrates love but also looks at it in a really unjudgemental way to look at what love can mean for every different individual across countries, cultures, religion, everything.
“It’s a deeply romantic film at the core of it.”

Alicia Silverstone struggled to cope with Clueless fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicia Silverstone struggled to cope with her ‘Clueless’ fame.
The 46-year-old actress – who is best known for her leading role in 1995 movie- admitted she didn’t know what to do with all of attention the role brought and she soon decided to step back from Hollywood.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “Things started to happen right away. At the MTV Movie Awards, I won best newcomer and best villain. Then came the Aerosmith videos [‘Cryin, Amazing, Crazy’] and I was working a ton, I was working in France with Alain Corneau, I did films with James Gandolfini, with Jeff Goldblum and Christine Lahti, all these different movies. I was very young but I took my acting very seriously.”
“When ‘Clueless’ came out, it really shifted. I had been the girl from ‘Crush’, then I was the Aerosmith chick, and then, after that, I was Cher. It was very complicated and I don’t think I knew how to manage it: I didn’t have the foundation, the good tools to deal with it, I wasn’t prepared for it in any way, shape, or form. I really had no idea what was happening, and it didn’t feel comfortable.
“I wasn’t happy and what I did was really extract myself a bit from my acting career and went more into my activism. I went to Africa. to help the elephants, I went to Peru to try to help the rainforest. I found my passion for writing books on healing and health. The Kind Diet books came a bit later but that was the start of the journey there.”
However, Alicia is now enjoying a career resurgence with roles in Jennifer Reeder’s horror movie ‘Perpetrator’, Imran J. Khan’s family dramedy ‘Mustache’ and Grant Singer’s crime thriller ‘Reptile’ and is loving every minute of it.
She said: “In terms of my work, I’m having nothing but fun now. I had a ball in Amsterdam, making a film with these amazing interesting filmmakers. I’m really happy with my life. Just seeing Benicio Del Toro again on the set of ‘Reptiles’. We haven’t worked together for 27 years [since ‘Excess Baggage’ in 1997]. I thought: ‘it’s been an incredible journey’.”

Gary Lucy reveals reason behind shock Laura Anderson split

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Lucy is “devastated” about his split from pregnant Laura Anderson.
The 41-year-old actor – who met reality TV star Laura while filming ‘Celebs Go Dating’ – admitted he is still in love with Laura and can’t believe their romance is over.
Father-of-four Gary told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “It’s been really hard and I’m devastated it’s over romantically. I think the world of her.”
Essex based Gary claimed that Laura, 33, dumped him after he refused to move to Scotland to be closer to her, explaining: “Laura did want me to move but I have my responsibilities here.
“I have four kids and all the things that go along with that so it’s very difficult, if not impossible, to uproot at this time.
“Having gone through a divorce, my children need me and living such a long way from them just would not be possible.
“I wish I could break myself in half. I would if I could.”
I know Laura was over the moon (about the baby). However, things aren’t as I’d have loved them to be.
“I’m a romantic, so I want things to be perfect. I’ll always want that fairytale, but as you get older, you have to realise it doesn’t always work out.
“I’m really gutted. I haven’t stopped loving her and I won’t stop loving her.”
