Jenna Coleman ‘could’ return to Waterloo Road

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Doctor Who’ star Jenna Coleman has admitted she “could” return to ‘Waterloo Road’.
The 36-year-old star portrayed school girl Lindsay James in the BBC drama series – alongside the likes of Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor and ‘EastEnders’ star Zaraah Abrahams – and she remained coy when asked whether she would be reprising her role anytime soon.
When quizzed on ‘Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp’ if there is “any chance” she could make a cameo in the recently rebooted show, former ‘Emmerdale’ star Jenna said: “Oh my goodness. I mean I did that show probably about 16 years ago … I think my character ended up in prison.”
Lindsay was found guilty of the murder of her father Tony James and was sent to prison, but was later released and ran away.
Asked whether Lindsay could come back, Jenna added: “She could … but, I think she’s still serving time.”
Adam Thomas recently reprised his role as Donte Charles in ‘Waterloo Road’, which saw his character’s wife Chlo (Kate Griffiths) die in the reboot’s premiere episode.
Former ‘Emmerdale’ star Adam admitted he could relate to his character’s grief in the storyline, after his soul singer dad Dougie James died unexpectedly aged 72 in 2020.
He added: “Everything happens for a reason. The storyline came at the right time for me – maybe that was a message from my dad.
“I didn’t realise how much I was grieving until I did the research into the character.
“I always used to talk about my dad, then when he passed, I blocked it out as though it never happened.
“I’m very thankful the storyline came around when it did because not only has it helped me, but other people.
“I get loads of messages from people saying thank you for the storyline so if we can help people along the way, happy days.”
Listen to Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, weekdays from 6am–10am across the UK and on Global Player.

Nicolas Cage has always wanted to play Dracula

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicolas Cage needed to play Dracula.
The 59-year-old star will take on the role of the legendary vampire in the upcoming film ‘Renfield’ and felt that he had to play the character at some point during his career.
Speaking to Total Film magazine, Nicolas said: “The concept of Dracula, in itself, is a challenge.
“It’s been done so many times already. It’s been done very well and it’s also been done not very well. I certainly admire Christopher Lee and Frank Langella and Bela Lugosi and Gary (Oldman). But I wanted to see if I could bring something fresh to the character. And I also kind of knew that I had to do it at some point.”
Nicolas revealed that he took inspiration from his father August Coppola and the late Sir Christopher Lee for his portrayal of Dracula in Chris McKay’s horror comedy movie – which also features Nicholas Hoult and Awkwafina.
The ‘Pig’ actor explained: “I went back to Christopher Lee, in terms of his manner of speaking, but that was really only a starting point.
“I knew Christopher. I did a small scene with him in ‘Season of the Witch’, and I liked him very much. We had a lot of nice conversations, and he reminded me quite a bit of my father, August. So from then on, my dad sort of became the main inspiration for me.”
Nicolas also revealed that he would be tempted to play Dracula again as he only gets to touch the surface of the character in ‘Renfield’.
He said: “You know, there are some minor moments here where you get to see some of the pathos in Dracula’s eyes… and that made me think that maybe one day I might like to try for a whole movie where you’re really understanding the psyche of the character. I didn’t really have the time to delve into that here.”

Kaz Crossley wants ‘closure’ after Abu Dhabi arrest

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaz Crossley wants “closure” after getting arrested in Abu Dhabi.
The ex ‘Love Island’ star wanted to speak her “own truth” about the situation that led to her arrest in the UAE, which came after a video from November 2020, which leaked online recently, showed her snorting a suspicious white substance at a party in Dubai.
The 28-year-old influencer said via an Instagram video: “Hi everyone. I wanted to do this video to speak my own truth and use my own voice about a situation that’s happened to me.
“I feel like I owe it to my followers and I owe it to myself to get closure about this situation because it’s been a good few years and I’m ready to move forward now.
“In 2020, I was in Dubai. I was filmed – it was me in the video, no one forced me to do that – it was a time of my life where I definitely didn’t love myself at all, probably. And this is reflected in what I was doing to my body and who I surrounded myself with.”
Kaz was detained in Abu Dhabi while in transit for a flight to Thailand, and the star said she was travelling to the country to take up “an amazing job offer”.
She continued: “I had an amazing job offer. I was so excited for this job offer, guys, it was like my dream job and I was staying up all night researching and, yeah, I did not think about the transit in Abu Dhabi and that it would be an issue for me because, obviously, I wasn’t thinking and … yeah, everything happens for a reason.
“I was then detained in Abu Dhabi and kept in custody from Monday through to Friday, which is when they released me.
“I was very accepting of the situation and I was ready for whatever was going to happen to me because, at the end of the day, I take full accountability. I don’t lie. I said that that was me in the video and explained the situation, it was a long time ago, etc.”
Kaz has been released without charge.

Lorraine Kelly misses show for 3rd day due to ‘hideous bug’

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorraine Kelly missed her ‘Lorraine’ hosting duties for a third day due to suffering from a “hideous bug”.
Broadcaster Ranvir Singh, 45, has filled in for the 63-year-old presenter this week after Lorraine was sent home by ITV bosses with a “hideous bug”.
But Lorraine’s replacement Ranvir – who usually co-hosts ‘Good Morning Britain’ – explained on Thursday (24.02.23) that Lorraine was “feeling better” and would return on Monday (27.02.23).
The news was first broken by Kate Garraway earlier in the week, who celebrated Ranvir for stepping in at the last minute.
The 55-year-old host said: “Usually at this point in the show we’d be chatting to Lorraine but I think in almost a first in her 30-year-plus history, she’s actually gone home, she’s not well.
“She’s got a bug! We’re wishing you well, Lorraine. Ranvir is to the rescue, she’s on her way in.”
From her sick bed, Lorraine expressed her sadness about being unable to get to natter with Adam Lambert on the ITV chat show.
She wrote on Twitter: “When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert THAT! Beyond disappointed but imagine if I had infected him !!!!!! (sic)”
Recently, during a handover, Lorraine went red when ‘GMB’ presenter Ben Shephard mentioned a newspaper article that claimed her husband Steve Smith – who she has been married to for more than three decades – sends her racy text messages.
Ben said: “He often likes to say how wonderful you’re looking in the morning in an affectionate way.”
Lorraine responded: “It depends what I’m wearing. It depends how much I’m showing.
“Sometimes he does say, ‘Nice boobs’, before asking of the story: ‘How did they get hold of that? Where did that come from? Have I been talking too much again?’ ”

Love Island send in 2 new bombshells following Casa Amor and Movie Night chaos

OHMYGOSSIP — Two new bombshells have been revealed on ‘Love Island’, after the chaos of the show’s Movie Night.
Rosie Seabrook, a 24-year-old industry placement advisor from Buckinghamshire, and Keanan Brand, a 24-year-old professional rugby player from Wigan, were teased at the end of Thursday night’s (23.02.23) episode.
It came after some of the current Islanders were left reeling following Movie Night, which caused carnage in the villa as the couples saw some of what their partners had been up to during the Casa Amor stage of the series.
Rosie has her eye on potentially coupling up with Casey O’Gorman, Tom Clare or Kai Fagan in the villa.
Asked who she wants to pair up with, she said: “There’s a few. Casey, he’s got the personality and looks that I always go for.
“I’m unsure if he’s got the height but I can let that slide because he’s got everything else. I also like Tom, he’s very good looking and tall.
“I feel like there is more to him, so I’m looking forward to seeing that. Kai is also very attractive, so I want to get to know him.”
Keanan has set his sights on Samie Elishi and Jessie Wynter, who was left reeling after her partner Will Young kissed Layla Al-Momani during Casa Amor.
He said: “Samie is my number one, if I could draw my perfect girl based on looks it would be her. I think she’s looking for someone that is cheeky and confident, and that’s me! May the best man win.
“Jessie is also up there, I know she’s with Will but I think me and her will get on well.”
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX and can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

Maya Jama, Jack Whitehall, and Lawrence Dallaglio team up for new show

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama and Jack Whitehall are teaming up for new show ‘Live Italian’.
The ‘Love Island’ host, 28, and the ‘Jungle Cruise’ star, 34, are joining forces for the three-part Amazon Prime Video series – that will also include rugby legend Lawrence Dallaglio, 50.
It will showcase their journey to find out “what it truly means to live like an Italian”, with each episode set to follow one of the three celebs as they explore a different region of Italy to see “the very best food, music and sport”.
In the first installment, Jack will go on a foodie’s expedition of Tuscany with television presenter and blogger Chiara Maci.
The ‘Bad Education’ star will see how gelato is made, along with pasta from a “gaggle of nonnas”.
He said: “Whilst I like to think that I’m always pretty easy-going, as someone that doesn’t like to sit still, the reality is life’s a bit chaotic.
“So, who better to learn how to relax and enjoy life’s simple pleasures than those famed for their love of long lunches, indulgent, simple dishes and riposo’s? ‘Live Italian’ was an inspiring and, at times, ‘interesting’ adventure, where I learnt how to disconnect and find pleasure in the smallest of things.”
In the second episode of the series – which will be available on the streaming service on March 10 – Maya will go along with actress, singer and presenter Lodovica Comello as they look into the impact of music on Italian culture in the cities of Milan and Cremona.
The last act will see Lawrence – who was part of the 2003 England World Cup-winning squad along with Jonny Wilkinson – meet up with Martin Castrogiovanni, an icon of Italian rugby, to go up against each other in a series of sporting trials.

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Flanagan’s son Charlie was in an “horrendous” accident at Alton Towers.
The ex ‘Coronation Street’ star, 32, detailed how her 23-month-old boy required hospitalisation for a snapped collar bone after he “slipped” at an amusement park while on holiday with his sisters Delilah, seven, and Matilda, four.
She said via her Instagram Story: “We went to a water park, a long story short, Charlie slipped, he slipped really really badly and it was awful, absolutely horrendous.
“I had to get an ambulance and he had snapped his collarbone into two. It was horrendous, so I spent like six hours in the hospital at Stoke.”
Helen – who split from the father of her brood, footballer Scott Sinclair, earlier this year – praised the “amazing” people who gave her little one emergency medical care.
She said: “I’d like to say thank you to the paramedics and nurses and doctors who were amazing.
“Thank you so much. I was literally there, at the Stoke hospital. That was awful, just horrible, horrible, horrible.
“To see your child in pain was just horrendous, but he’s OK.
“There is not much you can do for it, apparently like it mends by itself, but it’s horrible, when you’re a mum and you wish you could take pain away from them.”
Helen captioned the video: “He’s okay bless him x just lots of love and attention and just watching him like a hawk x (sic)”

Dame Helen Mirren baffled by Shazam! Fury of the Gods plot

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Helen Mirren struggled to grasp the plot of ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’.
The 77-year-old actress plays the villain Hespera in the superhero sequel and admits she found it hard to understand what was going on in the story.
Speaking on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, Helen said: “Don’t ask me about the plot, it’s too complicated.
“(Lucy Liu and I) are angry goddesses wearing unbelievably heavy costumes. It was very hot and uncomfortable and in fact, Lucy said at the end of the first day’s shooting, ‘They are trying to kill us’, in all seriousness.”
Helen confessed that she isn’t a big fan of superhero movies but signed up for the new movie as she loved the original ‘Shazam!’ film.
The ‘1923’ star said: “I wanted to do it because I loved the first ‘Shazam!’ It was sweet and funny. I am not a big superhero-type person, but I loved the idea of it and happily signed up for the second one. It is great.”
Helen performed some of her own stunts for the movie but ended up breaking her finger.
She said: “I was incredibly brave and didn’t say anything or complain because I wanted to be a real ‘stunty’ person.”
The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) movie is being directed by David F. Sandberg and he was astonished to cast both Helen and Lucy as antagonists.
He said: “I mean, it’s a dream come true, first of all. I’ve been watching movies with Lucy and Helen, and now I get to work with them – which is just amazing.
“They’re just the best. When we had these parts, we were like, ‘Let’s try and get the biggest and best actresses we can.’ And we were able to, because they said yes. It’s amazing.”
‘The Graham Norton Show’ airs on BBC One on Friday February 24 at 10.40pm. It is also available on BBC iPlayer.

Guillermo del Toro directing The Buried Giant for Netflix

OHMYGOSSIP — Guillermo del Toro is to direct ‘The Buried Giant’.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker is to helm and produce the animated movie for Netflix, with the project coming hot on the heels of his stop-motion take on ‘Pinocchio’.
Del Toro has co-written the script for the project with ‘Matilda the Musical’ writer Dennis Kelly.
‘The Buried Giant’ is based on the fantasy novel by Kazuo Ishiguro and follows an elderly British couple, Axl and Beatrice, living in a fictional England where nobody can retain long-term memories.
Del Toro said in a statement: “‘The Buried Giant’ continues my animation partnership with Netflix and our pursuit of stop-motion as a medium to tell complex stories and build limitless worlds.
“It is a great honour and greater responsibility for me to direct this screenplay which Dennis Kelly and I are adapting from Kazuo Ishiguro’s profound and imaginative novel.”
Netflix film boss Scott Stuber added: “Guillermo del Toro is a visionary filmmaker and master of his craft. We couldn’t be more proud of the prestigious recognition for his ‘Pinocchio’, and we’re pleased to continue our creative partnership as he develops his next project with Netflix.”
Meanwhile, Del Toro recently insisted that the future of cinema “will define itself in the coming decade” after a period of change amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The 58-year-old director said: “Everybody wants a definition when we’re in the middle of a transition, a change and a crisis all at the same time.
“We just survived the transformation of delivery, the arrival of a pandemic and everybody thinks that we should be able to define where we’re going in a year or two.
“We will not. It will define itself in the incoming decade. And the most important thing is to keep the size of the idea big.”

Martin Akinola leaves the Love Island villa

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Akinola has been dumped from the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The 27-year-old star was sent home from the dating show, as Tanya Manhenga opted to couple-up with Shaq Muhammad.
After his exit was confirmed, Martin said: “Honestly, I feel like it was a really good experience. I wouldn’t say it was the best experience of my life, because it’s not. But it was up there with the best, to be fair. And as much as it was a crazy, crazy experience, I will miss it.
“Honestly from day one, I’ve had a lot of love for you lot even though the situation had to be a bit tough on some of you people, especially Tanya – you did nothing wrong.”
Martin then corrected himself, admitting he wasn’t happy with how Tanya has behaved over recent days.
However, he insisted that he’s forgiven her already.
Martin continued: “Well, you did something wrong, I’m not gonna lie … you did some things that are wrong, but I forgive you. I hold nothing against you, I think you know that.”
Earlier this week, Tanya claimed she “didn’t have the opportunity” to tell Martin about her kiss with Shaq.
The 23-year-old beauty insisted she never lied to Martin, after he called her “insincere”.
Martin told her: “When I was speaking to you, you never told me you were a liar.
“You’re not sincere, you made me look like I was dumb – you’re a liar.”
Tanya subsequently denied the accusation of lying, insisting she simply didn’t have the time to explain the situation.
She said: “You’ve said your piece, yeah, you’re not going to call me a liar because you’re bitter. I didn’t tell you about the kiss, I didn’t have the opportunity. I am not a liar.
“If you’re upset about the way things were I apologise but I had to go with my heart.”

Hugh Jackman: Wolverine damaged my voice

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Jackman says ‘Wolverine’ damaged his voice.
The 54-year-old actor played the role of Logan/Wolverine in the ‘X-Men’ film series between 2000 and 2017 but he claims that the “growling and yelling” he did for the part wrecked his singing voice.
Speaking on the BBC’s ‘Front Row’, Hugh said: “My falsetto is not as strong as it used to be and that I directly put down to some of the growling and yelling. My voice teacher in drama school would’ve been horrified by some of the things I did [in ‘Wolverine’].”
However, the ‘Greatest Showman’ star is working on trying to repair the damage.
He said: “We learned the technique [in school] of how to shout and how to yell without ruining your voice. However, during ‘Wolverine’, I did some screaming and yelling and things that I think did damage my voice, which I think I’m working on. I work with a singing teacher, and I make sure that I try not to hurt myself. And I really put a lot of effort into both physical movement, and my vocal preparation for every role.”
Meanwhile, Hugh is set to reprise his role as Logan / Wolverine in the upcoming Shawn Levy-directed ‘Deadpool 3’, starring Ryan Reynolds.
He previously said: “A little part of me now thinks I’d be better at it. Is that arrogance of age or something? Wolverine’s a tortured character — more tortured than me. But I always get the feeling of him being comfortable in his own skin. And I feel more comfortable in my own skin now.”

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert quizzed Tom Cruise at Oscars luncheon

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert were starstruck by Tom Cruise at the Oscars luncheon.
The ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ directors sat next to the actor at the awards event earlier this month and Kwan quizzed Tom about his movie stunts.
He told Variety’s ‘Awards Circuit’ podcast,: “I was listening to Tom Cruise explain how they stuck cameras onto planes. It was my fault, I asked him…I have so many questions about how you guys made that movie, and he’s like ‘I’m here. Ask away. I learned a lot about his entire life.”
Scheinert added: “We somehow got invited to the most exclusive film school on Earth. These events…you can’t buy this. Not only am I in the room with heroes of mine, but I have permission to approach them.”
The pair are also still in awe of their ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ stars Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan.
Scheinert said: “I’m still shocked when I see clips from the movie and reminded how different Evelyn Wang is from Michelle Yeoh. She did her homework.”
Kwan added: “I think she talks about our movie in a way that kind of diminishes what she did.”
And, referring to Ke Huy Quan’s comeback, he said: “It’s a superpower. If other people try to do it, they’ll hurt themselves.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ken Bruce has slammed the BBC for axing him one month early from his Radio 2 job.
The 72-year-old DJ was due to leave the station at the end of March, before taking up a new job at Greatest Hits Radio from April 3, but he revealed he was shocked and disappointed when station bosses told him on Friday (24.02.23) that he was out next week.
He told MailOnline: “I was called in at 12.30 and told that my final show would be a week today and wasn’t given any real reason that I understood.
“I’m a little surprised and disappointed.”
An insider said: “It shows zero respect for Ken and what he has done for Radio 2,” adding that it made the broadcaster look “very ungracious” and showed “contempt” for his audience.
Ken wrote on Twitter: “I will be presenting my last show on Radio 2 next Friday. I had intended fulfilling my contract until the end of March but the BBC has decided it wants me to leave earlier.
“Let’s enjoy the week ahead.”
A BBC spokesperson told MailOnline: “Ken decided to leave Radio 2 and it’s always been known he’s leaving in March.
“Returning to Wogan House for a week after a month of broadcasting the Piano Room sessions at Maida Vale provided a natural break. We wish Ken all the best for the future.”
Meanwhile, Vernon Kay declared it was a “a dream come true” after he was announced to take over the station’s mid-morning show from Ken but acknowledged he’s got some big shoes to fill.
He said of his new job: “I’m absolutely over the moon to be handed the microphone to present the mid-morning show on Radio 2, and what an honour to follow in the footsteps of the mighty Ken Bruce.
“I look forward to playing some of the best music in the world whilst in the company of the Radio 2 listeners who I feel I’ve got to know over the last 18 months. It’s a dream come true to join the Radio 2 family and I can’t wait to start.”
