Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin have an allegiance to the Scream franchise

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin are hoping that more ‘Scream’ films get made.
The pair have returned to direct the new movie ‘Scream VI’ and Gillett explained that they want the slasher series to continue for as long as possible – regardless of whether they are involved.
Tyler, 42, told IndieWire: “We want it to continue forever. (Whether we’re) involved or not.
“We never would’ve imagined that we’d get to step into this franchise ever in our wildest dreams, so it if leaves our life and goes some other direction, as long as it sticks around, as long as they keep making them, that is the most important thing to us.”
The duo took over from the late Wes Craven as directors on the ‘Scream’ movies and Bettinelli-Olpin felt the pressure of trying to live up to the legendary filmmaker – who died aged 76 in 2015.
The 45-year-old director said: “I think we really felt the responsibility of what that meant to be stepping into Wes’ shoes, to be following up that legacy, and we didn’t want to f*** it up.”
Gillett explained how the pair were guided by Craven’s filmmaking approach in their early projects.
He said: “Our careers have always been some form of emulation, some form of trying to achieve that feeling that we first had when we watched that first ‘Scream’ movie.
“Wes has been spiritually a part of our careers since the beginning, as fans of his work.
“But then getting to know him through stepping into this role and meeting the people that he worked with, hearing stories about him from the cast and the crew, it really feels like he’s been a part of our lives forever, and it’s been really cool to get to know him intimately, even though we never got to meet him.”

Disney chief Bob Iger teases fresh approach to Marvel movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Bob Iger has questioned the need for Marvel sequels.
The Disney CEO has revealed that the company are planning to introduce fresh faces to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) rather than focusing on a select group of superheroes for several movies.
Speaking during Disney’s presentation at Morgan Stanley’s Technology Media and Telecom Conference on Thursday (09.03.23), Iger said: “Marvel – there were 7,000 characters, there are a lot more stories to tell.
“What we have to look at at Marvel is not necessarily the volume of Marvel storytelling, but how many times we go back to the well on certain characters.
“Sequels typically work well for us. Do you need a third or a fourth, or is it time to turn to other characters?”
Iger – who returned as Disney boss last year – continued: “There’s nothing inherently off in terms of the Marvel brand. I think we just have to look at what characters or stories we’re mining.
“And if you look at the trajectory of Marvel over the next five years, you’re going to see a lot of newness. We’re going to turn back to the Avengers franchise, but with a whole set of different Avengers.”
Bob also addressed the future of ‘Star Wars’ at Disney and revealed that the studio is being cautious with the franchise after the box office disappointment of the 2018 spin-off flick ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’.
He said: “‘Solo’ was a little disappointing to us. It gave us pause to just to think maybe the cadence was a little too aggressive. So we decided to pull back a bit.
“We still are developing ‘Star Wars’ films. We’re going to make sure that when we make one that it’s the right one, and so we’re being really careful out there.”

Amy Hart wants Disney World honeymoon without her baby

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Hart wants a honeymoon to Disney World without her baby.
The former ‘Love Island’ star – who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Sam Rason – admitted her pregnancy came at an awkward time as they were planning to visit the Happiest Place On Earth earlier in the year, and she wants to make up for it one day.
Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on Walt Disney Travel Company’s ‘Journey to the Magic’ podcast, she said: “I was supposed to be in Disney World right now, but I fell pregnant. I had a whole two-week trip planned in January.
“But I’m still trying to convince my boyfriend that we need to go on our honeymoon minus the baby because you need to do it as adults before you go back to do all the queuing up for meeting characters, and the little rides.”
The AGE-year-old star and her family have always been obsessed with their trips to Disney World, but her boyfriend isn’t able to go on rollercoasters because of his blood pressure.
She explained: “When I met my boyfriend the second conversation was, ‘Have you ever been to Disney?’ No. All right, OK.
“So, he’d been to a UK theme park that is just rides, no atmosphere and because he’s got dodgy blood pressure he went on a rollercoaster, passed out on it and then got taken off by the Saint John’s Ambulance people and had to go home.
“So I’m like, but Disney’s not just rollercoasters, Sam! There are parades and other rides and shows and different things.
“I love the atmosphere and the music and the smell and just that everything is so tied in together. I’m trying to convince him that he’s going to be fine.”
Amy always wanted either two or four kids so everyone would have someone to sit with on the theme park rides, but now she has a new plan.
She said: “I always used to say, ‘I’ll have to have like two or four because who sits on their own when you go to a theme park?’
“Everyone used to say, ‘Well the mum holds the bags’. I’m like, ‘This mum doesn’t, darling’. But now, I can have three children, because Sam doesn’t want to go on the rides!”
Journey to the Magic, the official podcast of Walt Disney Travel Company, is available to listen from Wednesday 08 March from wherever you get your podcasts as well as on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@DisneyUK/videos.

Idris Elba turned down EastEnders role

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba once turned down a role on ‘EastEnders’.
The ‘Luther: The Fallen Sun’ actor has revealed he had a chance to join the iconic BBC soap but rejected the offer because he simply “didn’t fancy” the part.
Appearing on ‘Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp’, he said: “I got offered a role in EastEnders once that I didn’t take.
“I don’t know what role it was but, yeah, my mum was like, ‘Why did you not take it?!’ ”
He added: “No, I just didn’t fancy it.”
Meanwhile, the 50-year-old star was struggling to think of any auditions he turned down and later regretted.
He insisted: “I can’t remember! I mean I’ve auditioned for a lot many many many many things but I’ve got them all so…”
Despite deciding against appearing on ‘EastEnders’, Idris previously claimed he would actually go on the soap just to make his mum happy.
Back in 2010, he said: “It’s my mum’s favourite show and I love being in things my mum likes.”
Elsewhere on ‘Capital Breakfast’ this week, Idris also weighed in on the future of Ruth Wilson’s ‘Luther’ character Alice Morgan, and teased that she is “not dead” in the show’s universe.
Asked about a potential spin-off, he said: “I think – I mean, this is a question for Neil Krause, who writes ‘Luther’, and I think he’s definitely thought about that.
“And I think we’ve all imagined an Alice show because it would just be amazing. But also, I think Alison in the ‘Luther’ universe is not dead.”
This crew a reaction from Roman, while Idris’ fellow guest Andy Serkis joked he was up for the role.
He quipped: “Actually, because performance capture you can be anything. I’m coming back as Alice…”
Listen to Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, weekdays from 6am – 10am across the UK and on Global Player.

Craig Cash felt Caroline Aherne’s ghost on Gogglebox

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Cash felt Caroline Aherne’s ghost on ‘Gogglebox’.
Caroline – who co-wrote and starred with Craig in ‘The Royle Family’ – died in 2016 aged 52 after being diagnosed with lung cancer but her “presence” can still be felt by Craig, who had she asked to take her over for her as the narrator on the Channel 4 show.
The 62-year-old actor told the Radio Times magazine: “She’d asked me if I could fill in for her as she wasn’t well. When she took weeks off for treatment, I’d fill in as and when.
“Then, when she died, they asked me if I’d carry on doing it. In a way, it was like a gift from Caroline.
“It was bittersweet at first, because I’d go in and it felt like she was there. We recorded it in the same space and I know it sounds weird, but I could feel a sort of presence.”
Craig understands why bosses wanted Caroline to narrate ‘Gogglebox’, noting the show has the “same vibe” as their BAFTA winning sitcom which was focused on a working class family and their reaction to “the telly”.
He said: “I can see why they wanted Caroline in the first place, and then me, because it’s got that same vibe to it — it’s about families watching the telly and commenting on people and slagging them off or being thrilled.”
The ‘Sunshine’ star thinks the popular show – which sees a groups from all over the UK from a diverse array of backgrounds catch up on the box’s best offerings – took the concept “in a completely new direction”.
He added: “It feels very much like they’ve picked up our ball and run in a completely new direction.”

Endeavour’s Abigail Thaw thinks her dad would have approved of Inspector Morse prequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Abigail Thaw thinks her father would have given ‘Endeavour’ the “nod of approval”.
The 57-year-old actress plays journalist Dorothea Frazil in the ‘Inspector Morse’ spin-off and she is sure her late dad John Thaw – who played Morse from 1987 until 2000 – would have loved the prequel series, which launched in 2012 with Shaun Evans in the lead role.
Speaking to What To Watch, she said: “”I like to think that Dad would have given it the nod of approval.
“We made it our own, we weren’t trying to ape Inspector Morse, but I’ve always had him as a sort of benign presence on set just there on my shoulder, and I’ve loved that.
“I think he’s up there smiling.”
The show is set to come to an end on Sunday (12.03.23) after nine seasons, and Abigail thinks her father would have been glad with the way Shaun played Morse.
She added: “Dad would have loved Shaun, and would have totally respected Shaun’s wishes to not emulate him but with the writing, you could still absolutely see Morse and the man he was about to become.”
She admitted the role “meant the world” to her dad, despite some early doubts about the way the character would be perceived by viewers.
She explained: “Initially, he was unsure whether anyone would want to be bothered with this grumpy, vaguely alcoholic, miserable loner! But then he fell in love with the character.
“When he was in ‘The Sweeney’, every bloke wanted to fight him, whereas with ‘Inspector Morse’, everyone wanted to shake his hand!”
‘The Endeavour’ finale airs on March 12 at 8pm on ITV1.

Hayden Panettiere called Scream VI directors to pitch movie return

OHMYGOSSIP — Hayden Panettiere called the directors of ‘Scream VI’ to pitch her return to the franchise.
The 33-year-old actress will reprise her role as Kirby Reed in the upcoming horror film and explained that she got in contact with filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett in a bid to get a part in the movie after taking a four-year break from acting.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning America’, Hayden said: “I didn’t know what I wanted to do next. I did have to take those four years off and thank God I did. I had to work on myself – my mental health, my physical health, my spiritual health.
“When (‘Scream’) popped up and came back around, I was like, ‘I want to be a part of that again because I hoped that Kirby was still alive.’
“I willed her back into existence and I called them. I actually called them… when they were doing ‘Scream 5’ and I was like, ‘Without me?! Wait. Hold on. I might still be alive, and I could come in handy.'”
Melissa Barrera is also set to star in the film and promised fans that the movie is “going all out” on gore.
She said: “There was a saying on set because Matt and Tyler were always asking for more blood and more sweat. They always just wanted more.
“‘More blood spritz’ was the saying because they would just always want more. With the last ‘Scream’, they were tip-toeing and trying to be very respectful of what the franchise had been, up until that point, and keeping their inner gory dreams at bay.
“But with this one, they were like, ‘We’re going all out.’ It’s potentially a hundred times gorier.”

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s ‘camp’ James Bond ideas were rejected

OHMYGOSSIP — Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s original ideas for ‘No Time To Die’ were rejected for being “too camp”.
The 37-year-old star was drafted in to “tweak” the script for Daniel Craig’s final film as 007 but admitted that a lack of preparation meant that several of her early suggestions were turned down by Bond bosses.
Phoebe told acting students during a recent talk at London’s Haymarket Theatre: “I should naturally have done a lot of Bond research… I didn’t do a huge amount of research for it.
“I’m not very good at homework. That says a lot. Sometimes it is frustrating when you say, ‘I think this is genius’, and they are like, ‘Next time’.”
Despite the initial problems, the ‘Fleabag’ star explained that she embraced developing characters that were not of her own making.
Phoebe said: “It is fun playing in someone else’s sandpit for a while as you learn stuff. I certainly learned what my Bond film would be like.
“I learned how mine might have been slightly too camp. A bit misogynistic really. Daniel (Craig) knows that character better than anyone.”
The actress did reveal that she was unaware that the legendary spy was going to be killed off at the end of the movie and the twist made her consider her position on the project.
She said: “I read the script not knowing. They had not told me and I was reading it and I was like ‘No’. I was angry. Then I thought, ‘What the hell, everyone is going to blame it on me anyway.’ I definitely want to be involved.”

Star Wars: Patty Jenkins and Kevin Feige projects ‘shelved’

OHMYGOSSIP — Two ‘Star Wars’ movies are said to have been shelved.
‘Wonder Woman’ director Patty Jenkins was due to helm ‘Star Wars: Rogue Squadron’, but the motion picture is now said to be on the back burner.
Sources have told Variety that the film is no longer in active development at Lucasfilm.
The publication also claims a ‘Star Wars’ movie produced by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige isn’t in active development either.
However, Taika Waititi is said to still be working on a ‘Star Wars’ motion picture, which he is likely to star in if it comes to fruition.
In December, Jenkins admitted she wasn’t sure if the ‘Rogue Squadron’ project “will happen or not”.
She said in a statement: “Sigh … I’m not one to talk about private career matters, but I will not allow inaccuracies to continue. Here are the facts:
“I originally left Rogue Squadron after a long and productive development process when it became clear it couldn’t happen soon enough and I did not want to delay WW3 any further.
“When I did, Lucasfilm asked me to consider coming back to RS after WW3, which I was honoured to do, so I agreed.
“They made a new deal with me. In fact, I am still on it and that project has been in active development ever since. I don’t know if it will happen or not. We never do until the development process is complete, but I look forward to its potential ahead.”
In the same statement, Jenkins – who directed the first two ‘Wonder Woman’ films, in which Gal Gadot played the titular superhero – told how she did not “walk away” from the ‘Wonder Woman’ franchise, after it was reported ‘Wonder Woman 3’ was not expected to move forward at DC Studios.

OHMYGOSSIP — Casey O’Gorman is “absolutely gutted” to have been dumped from ‘Love Island’ alongside Rosie Seabrook, but he is “excited” to introduce her to his family.
The 26-year-old recruitment consultant says his “number one priority” is 24-year-old Rosie meeting his pals and his mum, who he needs to give her “approval” on the industry placement advisor.
He said: “On one side I’m absolutely gutted but on the other side I’m buzzing and excited for the outside world. I’ve had the best time of my life. It’s been the best experience and I’m leaving with a very special girl.
“I can’t wait to introduce her to my family and all my friends. I think that’s number one on my priority list. I need approval from my mum! I’m just super excited to see where things go on the outside. I can’t wait to do some activities, go on dates, and spend some quality time with each other. It’ll be nice also to be apart to see if I do really, really miss her.”
Rosie is also excited about Casey meeting her family, and going on “cute date nights” with him.
She said: “Casey and I have both said that we’re so excited to meet each other’s friends and families, we’re excited to do cute date nights and things you’d normally do.
“We’ve built such a strong connection in the Villa, so I’m excited to see what happens when we’re back home.”
The couple are now both backing Tom Clare and Samie Elishi to win the series.
Rosie said: “I’m backing Tom and Samie. They’ve grown as a couple over the past couple of weeks and you can really see the way they are together is genuine.
“His poem and the song he dedicated to her, I think they’re just really cute together.”
Casey added: “It’s tough, I love all of the couples there. But for me it’s got to be Tom and Samie.
“Out of the girls I’m closest to Samie. Tom is my boy, I know Will is as well, but I was there when those two got together so I’ve seen the whole journey. To see them grow as a couple and be there with Tom through the highs and lows and see them get stronger – they are two of the most genuine, funny people and I really want them to win.”
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX and can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

EastEnders bosses turned down Bob Hoskins casting, claims Cheryl Fergison

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ bosses didn’t take up the chance to cast Bob Hoskins in the soap, according to Cheryl Fergison.
The 57-year-old star portrayed Heather Trott in the BBC One soap from 2007 until the character’s death in 2012, and she has claimed the ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ actor – who died in 2014 aged 71 – once told her he would be up for playing her character’s dad in a few episodes.
She told the ‘Soap From The Box’ podcast: “I went to a charity event and Bob Hoskins was there.
“He said he would love to come in and play my dad for a few episodes.
“I went up to the ‘EastEnders’ head office and said, ‘This is the truth, last night I was here and Bob Hoskins said…’ and they didn’t take it up
“I just thought, ‘Oh my god, how wonderful would that have been if for a few episodes Bob Hoskins popped in and out of Heather’s life?’ That would have been good.”
Last month, Cheryl said she had pitched a brand-new storyline to ‘EastEnders’ bosses in a bid to return to the soap.
She said: “I still watch ‘EastEnders’ and I love watching it as a viewer.
“I would love if Heather’s child came back to the soap to carry on her legacy.
“Another idea I have – I keep pitching it and nobody takes me up on the idea, I really think they’re missing a trick.
“On the show I had a mother, she was pretty nasty and she used to sell babies with Aunt Babe in the caravan in Southend.
“Now, what if she had twins and gave one away and kept Heather and now Heather’s dead and I could come back as the same actress but playing her twin.
“I could come back with baby George and carry that on.”
