Anne Reid rules out 6th series of Last Tango in Halifax: ‘We might do a Christmas special’

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne Reid has ruled out another series of ‘Last Tango in Halifax’.
The 87-year-old actress would be up for a festive special of the comedy-drama series, which is written by ‘Happy Valley’ scribe Sally Wainwright, but insists a sixth season is not on the cards.
Asked if there will be another series of the show – which also starred Derek Jacobi, Sarah Lancashire, and Nicola Walker – she said on ‘Good Morning Britain’: “Well, it would be lovely.
“I know Derek’s up for it, and I talked to Sarah, I don’t know about Nicola.
“We wouldn’t do another series, I don’t think now. We might do a Christmas special.”
The show ran for five series between 2012 and 2020, and also aired two Christmas specials in 2016.
Despite her decades in TV starring in the likes of ‘Coronation Street’ – in which she portrayed Ken Barlow’s (William Roache) first wife Valerie on the cobbles from 1961 to 1971, until she was killed by an electric shock – and ‘dinnerladies’, Anne recently admitted she regularly forgets she is famous, and is “quite shocked” when people stare at her.
She said: “I don’t think about fame much. I completely forget even now that I’m known, so I’m always quite shocked if somebody stares at me. I think it’s because I’ve not got my hat on straight or something.”
When asked in 2021 if she would do a long-running TV job again, she said: “A soap? No, I wouldn’t.
“I couldn’t, no. It was different times in those days. It was a different programme, we were in black and white.”

Billie Shepherd cried over son’s ‘smothering’ response to new baby

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Shepherd was left in tears after her son started “smothering” her and her new baby.
The 32-year-old former ‘TOWIE’ star welcomed her youngest daughter Margot into the world in December, and she has revealed how her eldest Nelly, eight, and son Arthur, six, have adjusted to the new arrival.
She told OK! magazine: “I think what it was in those early days, you’ve got this tiny little newborn, they’re so fragile and there was so much illness around the time she was born, I felt so protective over her.
“Because I was a bit like, ‘Oh, careful!’ it made him go the opposite way. He was so full on with her.
“When I look back at it, at the time I was having all the emotions of a newborn and it was probably more me just being overprotective.
“It was his way of trying to show his love and affection, but sometimes it was a bit too much.
“He’d do things like breathe on her, knew one day I’d laugh about it, but at the time it would make me cry.”
Billie admitted her son “felt pushed out” when she welcomed a new child into the world.
She added: “I think he was feeling that bit of jealousy – he’s always been the baby and throughout my pregnancy he became very attached to me and that was the start of it. When I had Margot, he felt pushed out.”
However, Nelly has adjusted well to being a big sister.
Billie explained: “Nelly has been amazing. Right from the start she was really good.
“In the beginning, she was lovely and held Margot, but she wasn’t as fussed as Arthur and wanting to be hanging over me, she just let me get on.
“Now she picks her up out of the pram and walks around with her. But I can say to Nelly, ‘Darling, can you watch her for Mummy?’
“It’s really nice being able to do that. For the kids I think it’s only going to keep getting better.”

Michelle Rodriguez hails Jason Momoa’s Fast X villain

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Rodriguez thinks that Jason Momoa is one of the best ‘Fast and Furious’ villains.
The 44-year-old actress is reprising her role as Letty Ortiz in the upcoming ‘Fast X’ and has high praise for the ‘Aquaman’ star’s portrayal of antagonist Dante Reyes.
Michelle told Collider’s Ladies Night podcast: “Revenge with a smirk. It sounds light, but when you see (the movie), you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.
“I’d say he’s the best male villain we’ve had in the entire franchise, of course because Charlize (Theron, who played Cipher) kills it. You know what I mean? She’s a whole other different type of monster, no pun intended.”
‘Fast X’ director Louis Letterier gave fans a hint of what to expect from Dante and revealed that he will be the perfect foil for Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto.
The filmmaker said: “Dante is in awe of Dom. He’s analysed him. There’s nowhere to hide, because he knows Dom better than he knows himself.
“Dom truly meets his match with Dante. Family goes both ways. There’s family on your side. There’s also family on the other person’s side. When the family that was your super-strength becomes your Achilles’ heel, it’s where you’re going to get wounded the most.”
Michelle revealed that audiences will be in for a huge shock at the ending of ‘Fast X’ – which is released in May and will be the penultimate movie in the long-running action franchise.
The ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ star said: “I think people are gonna be really, really surprised and we’re gonna get a lot of open mouths at the end of ‘Fast X’. Let’s just put it that way. It’s gonna be like, ‘Really? What?’ Like that! I was like, ‘Oh my god. What have we done?'”

Andy Samberg took Lee role to escape comedy comfort zone

OHMYGOSSIP — Andy Samberg wanted to get out of his “comfort zone” in ‘Lee’.
The 44-year-old comic stars alongside Kate Winslet in the World War II biographical film about the model-turned-photojournalist Lee Miller and had various motivations to play the photojournalist David Scherman in Ellen Kuras’ picture.
In an interview with Collider, Andy said: “A big part of the draw for me outside of the fact that I was really drawn to playing this real person, David Scherman, and the script, was getting to work with Kate Winslet, who is someone that I just really admire and I know has an incredible work ethic and a consistent high quality of work.
“So when they asked if I’d be interested in that, that was, for me, a big reason I was willing to give it a shot and sort of go out of my comfort zone.”
The ‘Palm Springs’ star reflected on the “heavy and intense” work that was required for the movie but is ultimately grateful that he took on the role.
Andy explained: “I haven’t seen it yet, so I don’t know how much I am or am not even in it. Could be a lot, could be a little, could be a medium amount. Those options are all on the table to them.
“But it was cool, man. I mean, it was really heavy and intense and I feel like it’s something I would not have been ready for even a few years ago in terms of my life experience to be able to let my guard down that much and be that kind of grounded, and real, and vulnerable to it because it really covers some heavy things.
“But I’m glad I did it, and I can’t wait to see it, and I hope it turns out great.”

‘I was so starstruck!’ Susanna Reid reveals her biggest ‘fangirl’ moment in 20 years of breakfast television

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid is celebrating 20 years of being on breakfast television.
The 52-year-old journalist started her television career by presenting ‘BBC Breakfast’ two decades ago and has interviewed several high-profile politicians on ITV1’s ‘Good Morning Britain’ since its inception in 2014 alongside the likes of Piers Morgan, Ed Balls, and Richard Madeley but after looking back on her career in a special film on Wednesday’s (22.03.23) edition of the programme, revealed that she was most “starstruck” when she interviewed Hollywood star Meryl Streep.
Asked by co-host Ed Balls about her most “fangirl” moment, she said: “Oh, I remember. It was sitting down in a hotel room with Meryl Streep, the biggest Hollywood superstar on the planet.
“I was there with Charlie Stayt because we were working on ‘BBC Breakfast’ and we looked at her and she looked at us. We were both so starstruck that she had to say ‘Has either of you got a question?’ just to kick off the interview!”
Susanna went on to pay tribute to her fellow co-hosts and became emotional upon seeing late co-host Bill Turnbull – who died last year at the age of 66 following a battle with prostate cancer – before recalling the momentous occasion when Donald Trump won the U.S election in 2016 and thanking the viewers at home.
She added: “As I look back on that 20 years on breakfast telly, I’d just like to say thanks to everybody else who has been involved in the journey along the way. I see all the individuals I’ve sat next to, you don’t do this alone in breakfast telly. It’s fantastic you have you here, Ed. Obviously, it’s very emotional to see Bill because we’ve lost him and that remains very painful. He taught me everything I know about presenting.
“Also, the wonderful characters that I have presented with. As I say, working alongside Ben [Shephard], Charlie, and then – Piers! Looking at that moment, in New York, when Trump won the US Presidential election back in 2016, who was the person who went against the tide and said ‘This guy is going to win!’?
“I think you can probably see the look on my face in that film when we announced that Trump had won. You can see it is written all over Piers’ face that he was right about that. So, thank you to everybody on this journey, and thank you the viewers because it is obviously down to you that any of us are here.”

The ‘Star Wars’ actor, 31, can’t wait to see Ncuti Gatwa, 30, play the first full-time Black Time Lord in the new series of the cult BBC sci-fi programme and admitted he’d even love the role himself.
He told Radio Times magazine: “It is opening up. You get inspired by things like Ncuti Gatwa playing the Doctor in Doctor Who – that is special to me.
“The glass ceiling can’t limit us. It’s exciting to see what comes out of this new stage of filmmaking and entertainment.”
Asked if he’d like a role on the show, he added: “I would love that! But get me in an episode where I’m one of the many Doctors in many timelines so I can just cameo it.
“Or I’d be the assistant, whatever. I’d show up – but just for one episode.”
The actor – who is best known for starring in the Netflix series ‘Sex Education’ – will replace Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor, and he’s “deeply honoured” to have been handed the opportunity.
Ncuti had said in a statement: “There aren’t quite the words to describe how I’m feeling. A mix of deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared.
“This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavour my utmost to do the same.”
Meanwhile, comedian Sooz Kempner is set to play an intergalactic assassin in a new multi-platform story to celebrate Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary.
The show will mark six decades since its first episode ‘An Unearthly Child’ aired on Thursday, November 23, and it was announced on Monday (20.03.23) a new story called ‘Doom’s Day’ will play out across platforms including Doctor Who’s digital channels, comics, audio and video games to toast the landmark.

“Her adventures will span comics, audio, a novel, video games stories and more, expanding the world of Doctor Who into brand new territories. Beware the Doom’s Day, it’s coming for us all.”
Sooz added: “To be part of the Doctor Who universe, a British institution up there with cups of tea and James Bond, is surreal and amazing!
“I love everything about Doom and can’t believe I get to travel across time and space with her.”

Victoria Justice ‘didn’t know anything’ about her new movie when she signed up

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Justice “didn’t know anything” about her new movie when she went into it.
The 30-year-old actress stars alongside ‘Stranger Things’ actor Noah Schnapp as well as Garrett Hedlund in the upcoming thriller ‘The Tutor’ – which follows a teacher assigned to give lessons to the son of a billionaire struggling with the obsessions of his student -and was clueless about the project when her agents suggested it to her, only to find that she couldn’t put the script down and was on the “edge of her seat” while reading it.
She told Collider: “Well, I went into it– I didn’t know anything about this film. My agents just sent it to me, they’re like, ‘Check it out, cool cast, cool director…’I was like, “Okay, great. It’s a thriller, I love that genre.’ So I didn’t really know much else about it, and I was immediately hooked in when I started reading it. It was a page-turner for me, and I didn’t know what was gonna happen next. I was intrigued. I was like, ‘How is this going to end?’ And I thought it was really exciting, kept me on the edge of my seat, and so that was really what was exciting for me.
“Then obviously, having the opportunity to get to work with these two amazing actors was very cool. And Jordan, meeting with Jordan. He’s just such a cool guy, like someone you want to be friends with, and had such a vision for this, and is kind and collaborative and easy to work with. And so those are all the things that were exciting, and yeah, I didn’t know much about it.”
Meanwhile, Victoria – who shot to fame as a teenager on Nickelodeon shows ‘Zoey 101’ and ‘Victorious’ -has also recently finished filming on action comedy ‘California King’ and enjoyed being able to play “bada**” character Lynette, who smokes and swears.
She added: “‘California King’, super excited about that project. It was really fun. I just got to pop in and have a good time. My character, Lynette, is kind of like this bada**, she smokes and she curses a lot, and it was really fun. It’s like an action-adventure kind of comedy, and I was able to work with so many talented actors, Jimmy Tatro who’s a hysterical improv king, incredible, Taco [Travis] Bennett, Joel McHale.”
‘The Tutor’ is set for release on Friday March 24.

Stephen Mulhern teases Deal or No Deal revival plans

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Mulhern has teased a more competitive ‘Deal or No Deal’ revival.
The ‘Catchphrase’ host thinks things are looking positive for a reboot of Noel Edmonds’ iconic game show, but he has warned viewers that his pilot won’t see quite the same unity between contestants.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I think the way Noel did the show, it was very much like a group, everybody was supporting each other.
“But the reality is now I think things are a bit more… I think it will be as entertaining, but people want to win money now.”
The 45-year-old star is replacing Noel at the helm, and he is hopeful the show will get commissioned after filming the pilot.
He added: “The rumour is that ‘Deal or No Deal’ is coming back. We did a pilot for it.
“Do I think that it will get commissioned? I honestly think it will. Have we had the official green light? The answer is no.
“But I do think it will come back, and if it does I will be over the moon.”
The format sees a contestant choose one of 22 boxes, each containing a cash amount between 1p to £250,000, and then attempting to win as much as possible either by gambling on having a high amount in their chosen box, or making the game’s hidden operator, named “the Banker”, offer a considerable cash sum for their box regardless of what is inside.
Over its original 11 year run between 2005 and 2016, ‘Deal Or No Deal’, gave away a total of £40 million to winners.
And while there were talks about potentially getting Noel back involved, ITV instead decided to go in a different direction.
Back in October, a source told The Sun newspaper: “There have been discussions around Noel possibly returning but ITV decided they want to give the show a completely fresh look and feel.
“Stephen has been approached about being the new host of the show which is something he is over-the-moon about.
“He has really proven himself to ITV and after he got his own show ‘In For A Penny’, as well as ‘Catchphrase’, bosses think Stephen could be ideal for it.”

Damon Lindelof exits Star Wars film

OHMYGOSSIP — Damon Lindelof is no longer writing the new ‘Star Wars’ movie.
The 49-year-old screenwriter had been set to write the secret sci-fi project alongside Justin Brett-Gibson although the pair are no longer involved.
Details about the plot are still under wraps but it is understood that ‘Ms. Marvel’ director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will remain behind the camera on the flick.
Further information about the movie will be unveiled at the Star Wars Celebration next month in London and insiders suggest that the film has a chance of being the next big screen project in the franchise following 2019’s ‘The Rise of Skywalker’.
In recent years, Disney has prioritised building the ‘Star Wars’ universe on television with hit shows such as ‘The Mandalorian’, although a number of new film projects are in development.
The reasons behind the departures of Lindelof and Brett-Gibson have not been disclosed but the ‘Lost’ creator had hinted at difficulties in an interview last month.
He told SlashFilm: “I will just say, that for reasons that I can’t get into on this Sunday morning, on this day, the degree of difficulty is extremely, extremely, extremely high. If (the film) can’t be great, it shouldn’t exist.
“That’s all I say, because I have the same association with (‘Star Wars’) as you do, which is, it’s the first movie I saw sitting in my dad’s lap, four years old, May of ’77.
“I think it’s possible that sometimes when you hold something in such high reference and esteem, you start to get in the kitchen and you just go, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t be cooking. Maybe I should be just eating.’ We’ll just leave it at that point.”

Amir Khan’s wife Faryal Makhdoom used his I’m A Celebrity screams as her ring tone

OHMYGOSSIP — Amir Khan’s wife had his ‘I’m A Celebrity’ scream as her ring tone.
The retired boxer is expected to be taking part in the upcoming ‘All Stars’ spin-off of the ITV reality show, and his wife Faryal Makhdoom admitted she loved seeing her husband’s reaction to bugs being poured on him when he first went to the jungle in 2017.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “His screaming was my ring tone for a bit. It made me feel good.”
And while Amir is said to have signed up for the upcoming series in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, Faryal has ruled out ever joining the reality show herself.
She laughed: “Even if I got paid £2 million I wouldn’t. But I loved seeing him do it.”
Back in September, The Sun newspaper reported that Amir would be taking part alongside Phil Tufnell, Paul Burrell, Jordan Banjo, Andrew Whyment, Dean Gaffney, Shaun Ryder, Gillian McKeith, Carol Vorderman, Georgia Toffolo, Helen Flanagan, Janice Dickinson, Myleene Klass, Joe Swash and Fatima Whitbread.
The boxer previously opened up on the idea of returning to ‘I’m A Celebrity’ and admitted it would “be brilliant”.
He told the Daily Mirror: “I’ve been asked to go there. Look, I think it’ll be brilliant. I think people get to see another side of me and it would be nice to do something like that.
“Now that I’ve got time I can do it. Before I couldn’t do it. The only reason I did it last time was because I had the hand injury.
“I said I’m out of boxing anyway because I can’t train with my hand so I’ll go in the jungle. Otherwise I would probably not have done that.”
He described his 2017 jungle experience as one of the “best things” he ever did, “being away from everyone, being focused, focusing on you and what you want to do in life”.
#He added: “I didn’t have other voices telling me what to do. I was thinking for myself. I loved it, honestly. The team I had around me was amazing.
“Dennis Wise and Rebekah Vardy and Jamie Lomas. They were all amazing. Everyone was great and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had – apart from seeing spiders and snakes and s***.”

Soccer AM cancelled after nearly 30 years

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Soccer AM’ has been cancelled after almost 30 years on the air.
The iconic long running football show has been a fixture on Sky Sports for nearly three decades, but now there are just 10 episodes left with the end of the current season marking its curtain call.
A Sky spokesperson told The Sun newspaper: “‘Soccer AM’ has played an important role in our coverage of football for the past three decades, and we continually adapt to the evolving needs of our customers.
“We now go into a period of consultation to discuss the proposed changes with our people. We are unable to provide more detail while these consultations are underway.”
It’s said staff were told on Tuesday (21.03.23) that the show would be ending, and they will be made redundant in May.
An insider said: “It was a complete bombshell. Morale is at an all-time low, they are raging.
“It’s going to be an interesting watch over the next few weeks.”
The popular programme – which balances the week’s football news, goals and more with sketches, celebrity guests and challenges – first aired on Sky Sports back in 1995.
It was previously hosted by Tim Lovejoy and Helen Chamberlain, while its current presenters are John Fendley and Jimmy Bullard.
Retired footballer Bullard delighted viewers with the ‘Soccer AM Pro AM’ feature, which saw celebrities and professionals compete in an arena with a series of shooting drills in a bid to win cash prizes for fans.
Meanwhile, ‘Saturday Social’ – which has previously aired before ‘Soccer AM’ at 9.30am – will move into its 10.30am Saturday slot, with the hope it will bring in younger viewers with its focus on the social media side of the beautiful game.
