Laurence Fishburne is having a ball in the John Wick franchise

OHMYGOSSIP — Laurence Fishburne gets to bring out his bravado in the ‘John Wick’ franchise.
The 61-year-old actor reprises his role as The Bowery King in ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ and believes that the role gets the best from him as an actor.
Laurence told ComicBook.com about playing the character: “It was pretty easy, man. It was on the page.
“That whole opening thing with the speech about, ‘I was here before the beginning of time!’ The way he gets to set the table, and it allows me to use my voice in a really beautiful way in the tunnel with all the reverberation. The way Chad (Stahelski) shot it, it was really mysterious and cool.
“I love this movie because it’s so much fun. Just playing The Bowery King, I get to have so much fun doing it.”
Laurence also believes that the new film will be a fitting tribute to Lance Reddick, who plays Charon, after he tragically passed away at the age of 60 last week.
‘The Matrix’ actor told The Hollywood Reporter: “We love Lance. We miss Lance. He’s the heart of these movies in many movies. We lost our brother, but we made a beautiful movie and it’s the best of all of them.
“I think people are going to love it and, you know, that’s what it’s about. At the end of the day, he wouldn’t want us to not do this.”
Fishburne has previously starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ and is looking forward to the upcoming flick ‘Captain America: New World Order’.
He said: “You know, I’m a big MCU guy. I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe and as much as I would love to be in it, I’m happy being a fan and waiting for whatever’s coming. Yeah, man like I just heard in Atlanta, I heard they’re getting ready to do another Captain America!… Bring it, I’m buying tickets dude!”

Florence Pugh was concerned about playing an addict in A Good Person

OHMYGOSSIP — Florence Pugh was wary of playing an addict in ‘A Good Person’.
The 27-year-old star features in the new drama film as Allison, a woman struggling to overcome an opiate addiction after being involved in a terrible accident, and knew that it was essential to portray the issue in the correct manner.
Asked if she was hesitant about playing the part, Florence told Collider: “If it doesn’t work, it’s offensive. It’s disrespectful. It’s embarrassing. It’s all the awful things that an actor, performer, or director never wants to feel.
“I think that’s why it is so crucial that we did deep, deep, deep diving, and deep background checks on what it is that these people are going through.
“You can’t make a movie like this with this topic and this unbelievably sensitive and delicate storyline without doing our research, and without talking to the right people, and that’s just something that, you know, it was obvious that you need to do.”
The ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ star revealed that she relished the short shoot on the film – which was directed by her ex-boyfriend Zach Braff.
Florence said: “I thrive under pressure, and I love being put to the test, and I completely come alive when we are telling a story in a short amount of time. I love a short shoot. I find it so exhilarating and thrilling, and everybody is so focused because we need to get it done.
“And you know, this is how I grew up in the industry, this is how I learned, was small indies with not a lot of time, tiny budget, an amazing cast, and a fantastic crew, and you’ve just got to make it work.”
She added: “And I think for me, I love the aspect of filmmaking. There’s nowhere to hide. There’s no day that you can figure something out. If you don’t get it, you lose it from the movie, and that’s how I learn.
“I really like stepping up to the challenge with these kinds of movies.”

Nicolas Cage open to playing Dracula in Renfield sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicolas Cage would love to revisit Dracula for a ‘Renfield’ sequel.
The 59-year-old actor loved putting his own spin on Bram Stoker’s iconic vampire creation for the new movie, while the movie has also given him a chance to work with Nicholas Hoult again after first teaming up on ‘The Weather Man’.
Asked if he’d return for a follow up, he told Collider: “If there’s room for it. I mean, I’m happy with the time that I had to play Dracula for Universal in this film, and I’m very happy I got to support Nic.
“I’ve been wanting to work with him for a while again. You know, I enjoyed our time on ‘The Weather Man’.
“I think it plays beautifully. I think what he brought to this character is totally brand new, and I’m very happy to be a part of that.”
However, Cage described the opportunity to take on such a legendary role as a once in a lifetime offer.
He made the point while noting he “wasn’t intimidated” by working on what director Chris McKay referred to as a direct sequel to 1931’s ‘Dracula’.
He said: “Well, I think that whenever – ;Whenever?’ I mean, that sounds ridiculous. When do you get a phone call from Universal saying, ‘We want you to play Dracula?’ That’s never gonna happen again. It’s like every, maybe, 100 years?
“I wasn’t intimidated by it because my Dracula’s — you know, I’m sure Bela Lugosi’s great in the role and he launched a billion viewers, but he wasn’t my Dracula.
“My Dracula was Christopher Lee in the Hammer Horror films. So I thought, ‘what can I do, and contribute, and bring my own special sauce?’
“So I wasn’t challenged by being asked to be the Dracula that we’ve seen so many times before. I thought there was something I could bring to it.”

Jeff Goldblum confirms starring role in Wicked movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Goldblum has confirmed he will star in ‘Wicked’.
There had been speculation that the 70-year-old actor would play the Wizard in Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of the Broadway musical and Jeff is now admitting he is part of the project.
Speaking during an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, he said: “I was just on this set of ‘Wicked’. I’m not supposed to talk about that, but it’s been out and about.”
Speaking about his co-stars, he said: “You should see our witches, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, very good.”
He went on to add: “I shouldn’t talk about it, but I was shooting one day, and I found myself tearing up in fear, a childhood fear came back to me.”
He explained that he told his co-star Cynthia – who plays Elphaba – about a childhood nightmare he had about a “very scary queen/witch,” who tied him to a tree stump and was “going to chop off my head”.
Goldblum said his older brothers teased him for weeks but “witches scare me”.
The actor joins a host of stars in the movie alongside Cynthia as Elphaba, Ariana as Glinda, and Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero.
Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, Aaron Teoh and Colin Michael Carmichael also make up the ensemble cast of the two-part movie.
Marissa will be playing Elphaba’s sister, Nessarose, and like her character, the actress is a wheelchair user.
Bowen and Bronwyn will be playing classmates of Elphaba and Glinda at Shiz University, while Keala will play Miss Coddle, Aaron will portray Avaric and Colin will be Nikidik.
Michelle Yeoh will play Madame Morrible, the Headmistress of Crage Hall at Shiz University who convinces Elphaba to create the flying monkeys, while she sings in the ‘The Wizard and I.’
Ethan Slater was also recently unveiled as Boq.
Director Jon Chu decided to make the movie into two parts because it would be “impossible” to put the complex story into a single film.
He said: “Thank you for all the support these past several months in anticipation of the ‘WICKED’ movie. Here’s what happened: as we prepared this production over the last year, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of ‘WICKED’ into a single film without doing some real damage to it. With more space, we can tell the story of WICKED as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters.”
‘Wicked: Part One’ is set to be released in December 2024, with the second following in 2025.

Gordon Ramsay blasts Lord Sugar

OHMYGOSSIP — Gordon Ramsay has hit out at Lord Alan Sugar for slamming his show ‘Future Food Stars’.
Sugar called the series a “virtual rip-off” of his show ‘The Apprentice’ but Gordon blasted the tycoon for “throwing his toys out the pram”.
He told The Sun newspaper: “He has no right to start throwing his toys out the pram. Do you think Simon Cowell started complaining about ‘The Voice’ when he was running ‘The X Factor’? Of course he didn’t.
“There is more than enough room for both shows on the BBC. Come on Alan! Share the f****** love!
“One of his contestants who ran a cupcake firm got in touch. What is a cupcake firm going to Alan Sugar for money for? They should be coming to me.
“Anyway, she said to me, ‘I love the show, I am a huge supporter, how can I apply to come on?’. I wanted to send it and say, ‘See, you are b******* about me but your contestants are dying to come on the show!'”
He also made a sly dig at Alan, who always has the candidates on ‘The Apprentice’ refer to him by his title of Lord Sugar
Gordon said: “One of the contestants on ‘Future Food Stars’ mentioned my OBE and I told them that whilst I was grateful for the acknowledgement please just call me Gordon.”
He went on: “Strictly between you, Lord Sugar and I, we’ve also just finished filming in the US.
“And we are going to Australia next month as well to launch it. ‘Future Food Stars’ is about scale and magnitude. I am not going to get them dressed up in f****** pin-striped suits. It’s about the businesses themselves and what they can offer.”

Alison Hammond victim of blackmail plot

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Hammond has been the victim of a sinister blackmail plot.
The 48-year-old TV presenter was reportedly threatened by a former friend in an eight-month ordeal, which saw her pay him thousands in a bid to stop him spreading malicious lies about her.
She is also believed to have bought him a £5,000 BMW.
A close friend of Alison told The Sun newspaper that Alison confided in them, saying: “I trusted this guy who, it turns out, was only interested in my money.
“I thought he valued our friendship. I now know he only wanted me to fund his life of luxury.
“Out of the blue he said he could tell lies to make people think less of me. It was alarming.
“I’m a very generous person and was happy to spend money on him. I wanted to help him.”
Alison reportedly finally went to the police this week after the man demanded £3,500 or else he would “ruin” her.
She told her pal: “He sent me a message stating that if I didn’t give him £3,500 he would ruin me.
“I was flabbergasted. I’m still in shock. To have a friend seeking to blackmail and extort me is just heartbreaking.
“I had to realise I’d reached the end and go to the police.
“Now, I’m genuinely scared of what this man might do to me now that I’ve stopped with the handouts and reported him.
“It’s terrifying. I trusted this man and our friendship. But it was all so he could use me for my money. Now I feel so stupid.
“It is as though a veil has been lifted from my eyes.”

Liam Neeson never imagined becoming a Hollywood star

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Neeson has exceeded his own expectations in the movie business.
The 70-year-old actor joined the Lyric Players’ Theatre in Belfast in 1976, and at the time, he never imagined becoming a huge star in Hollywood.
Liam – whose new movie, ‘Marlowe’, is the 100th of his career – told HeyUGuys: “You know, I was delighted to become a professional actor in 1976, in a theatre in Belfast and then moved down to Dublin.
“I think my ambitions then would’ve been, ‘Wouldn’t it be great to be in the National Theatre of Great Britain’. That would’ve been my ambition.”
Liam’s career was transformed by his starring role in the Sir John Boorman-directed medieval fantasy film ‘Excalibur’.
The movie was released in 1981 and it helped to propel Liam towards success in the American film business.
He recalled: “We did ‘Excalibur’ with the wonderful Sir John Boorman … knights in shining armour and riding horses and stuff … and it was like, euphoric, the feeling. It was euphoric, and John was a fantastic mentor.”
Liam previously described making the movie as a “great” experience.
The veteran actor shared: “That was extraordinary, because it had Helen Mirren and Nicol Williamson, who is dead now, God rest his soul. An extraordinary actor. There we are, all dressed in shining suits of armour and on horseback. It was like a dream come true, you know? Telling this Arthurian myth, this story that’s thousands of years old. It was just something.
“And to be shooting it in Ireland, it was just great.
“John Boorman, who was the director, was a wonderful mentor to us, Gabriel Byrne, Ciaran Hinds, myself. He’d bring us behind the camera, show us what he’s looking at, give the reason why he’s shooting it this way, and just explaining what the camera does, the different ways he was going to shoot us.”

Jon Hamm joins Mean Girls musical movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Hamm has joined the cast of the ‘Mean Girls’ musical movie.
The 52-year-old actor will take on the role of Coach Carr, the gym coach and incompetent sex-ed teacher, in the upcoming movie adaptation of the Broadway musical, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Meanwhile, Busy Philipps recently joined the cast as Mrs. George, the mother of Regina George, who will be played by Renée Rapp in the film.
Philipps shared a Deadline article revealing her casting, and wrote on Instagram: “You know something? I really never have been a regular mom… #meangirls (sic)”
Angourie Rice, Auli’i Cravalho, and Jaquel Spivey are also set to star in the movie, which will be directed by Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr.
Tina Fey and her husband Jeff Richmond are adapting their musical for the big screen, and they want the ‘Mean Girls’ musical movie to have a “fresher palette”.
Composer Richmond told THR previously: “Right now, the day-to-day is more about the movie adaptation that we’re working on. We’re super involved with that. What we’re trying to do [with the movie] is take the score that sounds like a Broadway score – in a good way – and [give] the movie a fresher palette. To make it sound more like stuff you want to listen to on Spotify, as opposed to when you’re sitting eighth row at a Broadway show or the Pantages. It’s kind of making it a fresher, younger take on the whole thing. We’re kind of reinvented the music for the movie, so it’s really fun.”
Lorne Michaels is producing the movie for Paramount Pictures, with Fey penning the script and Richmond and lyricist Nell Benjamin working on the music.
Richmond admitted he and Fey love working together.
He said: “We know when to get out of each other’s way when we’re working together. Like who’s taking this part? Who’s doing that? Who needs to push harder on getting the script done for this? We’re just around each other all the time. Same office, all the time. She’s a hilariously fun person to be around.”

Ranvir Singh ‘blissfully happy’ with toyboy

OHMYGOSSIP — Ranvir Singh is “blissfully happy” with her toyboy partner.
The 45-year-old ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter has been dating Louis Church, 18 years her junior, since September 2020 after meeting during her stint on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and Ranvir says she doesn’t notice the age gap.
She told Woman and Home: “I knew Louis was special the minute he walked in… He has instinctively known exactly what I need… I don’t see an age gap.
“What really matters in any kind of relationship in life is a synchronicity of values and emotions. I don’t know why we’re so obsessed with the age gap.
“As we are, right now, we are blissfully happy and Louis lives very much in the present.”
She added that they don’t “bring undue pressure” into their relationship, explaining: “It’s not worth ruining the present by thinking about a wealth of different scenarios that might or might not happen.”
Ranvir also spoke up on her battle with her weight, insisting she is much happier now than when she was dieting.
She said: “I feel 100 per cent happier now, and looking after myself is more about health and not needing to be the thinnest person that I can be.
“When I reached 42, the age my dad died, I had a horrible realisation of how young he was. I thought, ‘I’ve got to be more aware of my health because heart attacks can be hereditary.’
“Part of the transition to ease off five 3am alarm calls a week was partly to do with the long term bigger picture, to have a healthy long life.”

Ken Bruce disappointed by BBC decision

OHMYGOSSIP — Ken Bruce says it was “unnecessary” for the BBC to boot him off his Radio 2 job early.
The 72-year-old DJ was due to leave the station at the end of March, before taking up a new job at Greatest Hits Radio from April 3, but radio bosses sent him packing early, leaving Ken disappointed.
He told the Daily Mail newspaper: “That was disappointing. I thought, ‘Come on, you can trust me. I’m not going to do a Dave Lee Travis’ [referring to the ex-BBC DJ who bitterly resigned on air in 1993]. I’m not going to start badmouthing everybody, because I had a lovely time at the BBC. So it was all a bit… unnecessary.”
Ken revealed he had been happy at the BBC but decided to leave when he wasn’t approached about a renewal to his last two-year contract. However the BBC then offered him a three-year deal after he signed his new contract.
He said: “I wanted it to be my decision,’ he says. ‘There was no pressure and I’ve been more appreciated in the last 10 years at the BBC than I was in the first 25. But I decided to go.
“These people are very good at hiding their emotions. I think I did surprise them, but the fact was I hadn’t been offered any continuation at that point. They then said, ‘Well, we were going to offer you another three years’.
“I didn’t want to get into a bidding war. To be honest, I wouldn’t feel happy taking more money from the BBC when a lot of people are losing their jobs. That’s not why I left anyway. I don’t do things just for money.”
A BBC spokesperson previously told MailOnline: “Ken decided to leave Radio 2 and it’s always been known he’s leaving in March.
“Returning to Wogan House for a week after a month of broadcasting the Piano Room sessions at Maida Vale provided a natural break. We wish Ken all the best for the future.”

Gemma Collins planning to undergo genetic tests over cancer fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins plans to undergo genetic testing after her mother secretly battled cancer.
The 42-year-old reality star’s mum Joan was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ, in which the cells in the lining of the breast tissue become cancerous, in 2016 after finding a lump between her armpit and breast, and now Gemma is planning to be screened for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutation to give her peace of mind over her chances of also contracting the disease.
She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “I would love to go for the BRCA test — peace of mind is key.
“My mum is now a breast cancer survivor and let this be a message to everyone out there — no one is invincible from it.
“Your health is your wealth and with any lump you’re never going to be wasting the doctor’s time.
“These services are in place and we pay into these services — they are there to help us.”
Gemma checks her breasts daily and urged women to see their doctor if they have any concerns.
She said: “It has to be a message to everybody to get themselves checked. Every time I have a pain I am straight down the doctors getting myself checked. It’s a huge wake up call to everybody.
“I must drive them mad at the doctors but I pay into the NHS services like everyone else.
“I’m always touching my boobs because they are always in the bloody way!
“I’m forever pushing my boobs back in my bra and literally every girl knows there is nothing better than coming home and whipping your bra off.
“But, naturally, even while I’m talking on the phone, I’m going around the outside and checking. I do it everyday. It’s just like taking an antihistamine in the summer for hay fever — it’s just something you have got to be on.”
Gemma – whose mother is now cancer-free – has also given up eating meat after a study found risks of developing cancer is 14% lower in vegetarians.
She said: “I think when you reach your 40s you get even more conscious about your health because, let’s be honest, this is where it all starts going downhill.”

Rege-Jean Page ‘surprised’ by Dungeons and Dragons script

OHMYGOSSIP — Rege-Jean Page was “surprised” by the script for ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’.
The 34-year-old actor plays Xenk Yendar in the action-comedy film, and Rege-Jean admits that he never expected the script to have such a “human” element to it.
The actor – who features in the movie alongside the likes of Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez – told SFX magazine: “I don’t think anyone knew quite what they were getting into when they picked up a ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ script.
“I surprised was at how there was a very human throughline to the story. We all put it down smiling, having laughed and cared about this world, which is quite a delicate balance to strike.”
Rege-Jean also enjoyed working with Chris, Michelle and his other co-stars, who included Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis and Hugh Grant.
He said: “These are very talented, very intelligent, very funny people, but also vastly different – a finely balanced orchestra of very odd instruments.”
Rege-Jean is, of course, best known for starring in ‘Bridgerton’.
And the actor previously admitted that he found it “overwhelming” to watch his steamy scenes from the show.
Rege-Jean – who played the Duke of Hastings in the hit Netflix period drama – told The Hollywood Reporter: “No one was sufficiently prepared. I wasn’t sufficiently prepared, and I was there.
“I think people were grateful for the intensity of the romantic aspects of ‘Bridgerton’; I’m not sure how grateful I was to watch it for myself.
“It was overwhelming. But I think people were looking to be overwhelmed.”

Maisie Smith doesn’t care about 13-year age gap with Max George

OHMYGOSSIP — Maisie Smith “doesn’t notice” the 13-year age gap between her and Max George.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actress – who began her acting career when she was just five years old – has been dating the 34-year-old Wanted singer for two years and she doesn’t care what people say about her boyfriend being so much older because she knows her relationships would be scrutinised whoever she was with.
She told Fabulous magazine: “If it wasn’t that, it would be something else. People don’t understand what goes on behind closed doors in a relationship, and I think they also forget that I’m a consenting 21-year-old woman who’s actually been working longer than Max!
“I don’t notice the age difference and neither do my friends or family. My mum Julia is the one who reads through all the comments. I got a message from her yesterday, saying: ‘Just ignore them, you two were made for each other.’
“I think that just puts it into perspective. I really don’t care what a random person thinks of my relationship when everyone I do care about is incredibly supportive. I’ve been in the business long enough to know you have to have a thick skin.”
Maisie believes her future is with Max and things are “perfect” with him.
Asked if she thinks he is The One, she said: “I do. We have so many plans and I see so much of my future with him – stuff I didn’t even know I was capable of seeing. It still feels like the honeymoon stage. I don’t know at what point that ends, but we’re still there.
“The other day [during the ‘Strictly Ballroom’ tour], we were in an Airbnb that was terrifying. There were hardly any windows, I could see some sketchy business going on down the road, the shower didn’t have any hot water and there was only one plate.
“But we sat in bed and watched a show and had one of the best nights ever in that house. It just showed that it doesn’t matter where we are – as long as we’re together, everything is perfect.”
And now her touring stint in ‘Strictly Ballroom’ is over, the actress is moving into Max’s house in Manchester and the couple are excited to have some time off together.
She said: “We’ve pretty much spent the entire relationship on my terms.
“Wherever I am, he’s had to travel to and he’s been so supportive. When I’ve arrived back from a day where I’ve performed twice, he’ll be at the Airbnb, having cleaned it and made me fajitas.
“But we’re both excited about having some time off together at home in one location without him having to drive hours across the country every week.”

Florence Pugh found it ‘liberating’ to cut her own hair on A Good Person

OHMYGOSSIP — Florence Pugh found it “liberating” to cut off her hair in ‘A Good Person’.
The 27-year-old star features in the new drama film as Allison, a woman struggling to overcome an opiate addiction after being involved in a terrible accident, and early in the movie, her grief-stricken alter ego impulsively chops off her locks, and the actress admitted the scene was the “final key” to understanding her character.
While it was suggested she wear a wig, Florence was adamant she cut her own hair.
She recalled to USA Today: “Everyone was really anxious that it was the only take we’d have, but I found it really liberating.
“If anything, it was like the final key to unlocking this character. It took vanity out the window.”
Florence could understand Allison’s impulsive reaction because she’s previously cut her own hair when feeling “low”.
She said: “For me, whenever I was particularly low as a teenager, I would do lots of quick fixes.
“I would buy things like nail kits or scissors and go onto YouTube and find out how to do it. I was just looking in any direction but the thing that was making me sad.”
The ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ star has also admitted director Zach Braff was against her cutting her own hair.
She recalled on ‘The Tonight Show’: “I was like, ‘Zach, I think I should chop my hair off at the beginning of the movie.’ And he was like, ‘The beginning of the movie – cool. That’s not gonna work.’ ”
She told how Zach and the crew were worried about shooting the film in order if she cut her hair early in filming but she insisted: “You’ll figure it out.”
The team had a big conversation and told the director: “This is insane. She can’t do this. This is not helpful at all.”
But Florence stuck to her guns and was allowed to chop her locks for the shoot.
