Craig Revel Horwood replaces Paul O’Grady in Annie

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood has replaced Paul O’Grady in ‘Annie’.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge is taking on the role of Miss Hannigan in next week’s performances of the musical following Paul’s death aged 67 last month.
According to the Southern Daily Echo newspaper, Craig will step into the role during the Southampton run of ‘Annie’ at the Mayflower Theatre from April 24-29.
Craig and Paul were already sharing the role during the UK tour.
Following Paul’s shock passing, Craig admitted he was “reeling in disbelief” at the news.
He wrote on Twitter at the time: “I’m in a state of shock this morning, waking up to the news that my gorgeous colleague and friend, Paul O’Grady has passed away.
“I’m actually reeling in disbelief. He was such a wonderful human being, funny and to the point. Paul, legend, RIP darling.”
Paul’s final appearance in ‘Annie’ took place in Edinburgh just a few days before his passing.
He had been due to be in the role of Miss Hannigan up until November.
Following Paul’s death, the production said in a statement: “Everyone at ‘Annie The Musical’ is stunned and saddened by the passing of Paul O’Grady.
“An incredible Miss Hannigan and an irreplaceable, hilarious and generous person who we will all miss immensely.
“Our thoughts are with Paul’s family and friends at this very sad time. There will be further news from Annie The Musical in due course.”
Earlier this month, Paul’s cause of death was revealed as cardiac arrhythmia, an abnormal heart rhythm.
Paul’s husband Andre Portasio posted on Facebook: “Your kind messages, beautiful flowers, and thoughtful texts of condolences have brought me comfort and solace during this difficult time.
“I am incredibly grateful for the support and love I have received from our community and we want to thank each and every one of you for your kindness and generosity.”

Jake Quickenden ‘annoyed’ he isn’t part of I’m A Celebrity South Africa

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Quickenden is “annoyed” he isn’t part of ‘I’m A Celebrity…South Africa’.
The 34-year-old star finished runner-up to superbike champion Carl Fogarty in 2014’s 14th series of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’, and he would’ve loved to have a crack at becoming the first ever “I’m A Celebrity Legend” when the brand-new South Africa-set show kicks off on Monday (24.04.23)
Speaking to Betway Casino’s website – https://betway.com/en/casino/slots – he said: “It looks amazing. That’s another reason why I’m annoyed I’m not doing it, as I’d have loved to go to South Africa. I’m intrigued to see how it does.
“I think it will be a lot different to the normal Australian show. That’s voted for by the public, so the public have a huge say in it, whereas they don’t with this show.
“It’s going to be intriguing to see how it pans out, but again, I love the competition aspect.”
Jake doesn’t think the additional ‘I’m A Celebrity’ show was “needed”, but he is looking forward to watching the pre-recorded series unfold.
He said: “I don’t think it was needed, but it’s cool that it’s here. We get to see people that have already done it, and people that have maybe not been great get a chance to do it better. And like I say, it’s a different concept.
“It’s a bit more challenging, because they’re actually going up against each other in the trials to stay in.
“I would have loved that, I love competition. I think it’s going to be great. Again, it’s got Ant and Dec fronting it, so people are going to tune in.”
Amir Khan, Jordan Banjo, Helen Flanagan, Carol Vorderman, Fatima Whitbread, Paul Burrell, Phil Tufnell, Janice Dickinson, and Shaun Ryder are the first nine contestants confirmed for the series, but ITV have confirmed there are more to come – and Jake believes the line-up would’ve been “better” if he was one of stars.
He said: “I think the line-up is great, but I think it would have maybe made a tiny little bit better if I was in there.
“It is what it is, though. It’s been 20 years, there’s been so many people. You never know, they might do a few more All Stars and I’d love to get involved.
“But I think the cast that they’ve got is great. You’ve got a real mix of people from the old school version, with some people that were really terrified of certain things. So yeah, I think it’s going to be great.”

Alan Carr claims divorce is ‘best thing that could have happened’

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Carr has claimed his divorce is the “best thing that could have happened”.
The 46-year-old comedian split from Paul Drayton in January 2022 after 13 years together, and while he has struggled with dating again, he believes their mutual decision was the right one.
Speaking on the ‘Organic Meets’ podcast, he said: “My ex wanted out as well. He’s doing his acting now.
“He’s moved on and I’ve moved on. It’s the best thing that could have happened.”
The star admitted he’s been trying to get used to being single again after so long in a relationship.
He explained: “Boy, being a 45-year old man – I’m 46 now – and coming out on the dating scene, it was like, ‘Oh my God’.
“I didn’t know what to do. I can’t do the apps. I do say to people, ‘Is there anyone?’ ”
Another issue he has found with online dating is the way potential partners can look very different in their social media photos.
He added: “You can’t trust anything now with the Instagram filters.
“I’ve looked at my friend’s profile and everyone’s on a sun lounger with a pina colada.
“We all look nice in the sun. Even I look a bit f****** better in the sun.”
Despite his struggles, Alan – who married Paul in 2018 – previously insisted he’s open-minded about the type of man he’s looking for.
Appearing on Australian radio, he said: “I’m up for anything, really. People say to me, ‘Has anyone has slid into my DMs?’ I’m like, ‘Slid? It’s more like crawled and died!'”
Meanwhile, he has no regrets about their relationship, admitting they both tried their best to make it work and that they are “still friends”.
The comedian – who married Paul in 2018 – said: “I’ve moved on, I’m still friends with Paul, he’s sort of getting on with his life. Sometimes it’s not a bad thing.
“It was 14 years, we gave it a go, it didn’t work out in lockdown. Who cares? Let’s move on.”

I’m A Celebrity South Africa gets ‘scarier and bolder’ new camp

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ will be “bigger, scarier and bolder” than the Australian version.
The ITV reality series is moving to Kruger National Park for an all star edition with the likes of Helen Flanagan, Shaun Ryder, Paul Burrell and Carol Vorderman returning to the show – which will be hosted by Ant and Dec – and bosses secured a space six times the size of its usual camp.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Everything is bigger, scarier and bolder.
“If the celebrities think they know what to expect then they are wrong. The only thing that they can count on is the diet of rice and beans!”
To get to camp, the stars must face a dark tunnel of trees lit by a string of lamps, while benches are placed next to beds huddled close around a small fire.
The jungle shower will be back, although it’s also undergone a makeover to fit the new camp.
Rather than water falling over a natural cliff, there will be a showerhead hanging in a tree, while the stone wall has been replaced by a backdrop of sharp branches.
There is still a natural waterfall near the camp leading into a nearby river.
As well as Helen, Shaun, Paul and Carol, the launch episode will also feature former boxing champion Amir Khan, ‘Diversity’ dancer and DJ Jordan Banjo, Olympian Fatima Whitbread, ex-England cricketer Phil Tufnell and ex-supermodel Janice Dickinson, with more to come later in the series.
ITV previously said: ““There will be many more celebrities taking part in the series but viewers will have to watch to find out who they are and when they will enter camp.
“All the campmates survived the Australian jungle, but South Africa is an even harder proposition which will push them to their limits and test them like never before.”
The broadcaster added about the show’s format: “The challenges are bigger and tougher and the environment harsher and more unforgiving.
“With no public vote, they will be competing against each other in a battle to become the first ever ‘I’m a Celebrity Legend’.”
‘I’m a Celebrity… South Africa’ starts Monday 24 April at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

Ana de Armas ‘clicked’ with Chris Evans when they met on Knives Out

OHMYGOSSIP — Ana de Armas “clicked” with Chris Evans when they met on the set of ‘Knives Out’.
The pair feature in their third movie together in ‘Ghosted’ and the ‘Blonde’ star finds it easy to maintain onscreen chemistry with her co-star as they have a genuine friendship.
Ana told The Hollywood Reporter at the New York City premiere of ‘Ghosted’ on Tuesday (18.04.23): “We genuinely liked each other and we’re just very easygoing people, both of us, and we’re just very transparent.
“It’s not a relationship that you have to work hard to maintain. The friendship is there. It’s like chemistry onscreen, it’s there or it’s not.”
The pair feature as romantic interests in Dexter Fletcher’s film and Ana suggested it was one of the main reasons she signed up for the Apple TV+ flick.
The 34-year-old actress said: “That’s why I also wanted to do this movie, because that kind of dynamic, we’ve never had on the screen and I wanted to enjoy that with Chris, not only in real life but also on film.”
The movie tells the story of Cole (Evans) as he falls for Sadie (de Armas) but is seemingly ghosted when he tries to get a second date. When he sets out to find her, he learns that Sadie is a secret agent and the pair go on an adventure to save the world and Ana believes that both of the lead characters in the film can be considered “heroes”.
The ‘No Time To Die’ actress said: “I think in a way, we’re both kind of heroes in the movie; I think Sadie is the hero in the sense of all the action and saving the day and being the super spy, but I think he’s the hero in the sense of being a super romantic person who would do anything for love.
“They’re both trying to balance each other and they’re so much, both of them, out of their comfort zone that that’s why I think they complement each other and find love in each other.”

Richard Curtis will not be writing any more films

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Curtis does not plan to write any more films.
The 66-year-old screenwriter is famous for penning romantic comedies such as ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ and ‘Love Actually’ but has ruled out writing another movie as he finds his work repetitive.
Richard told Jon Snow on the Snowcast: “I’m not sure I’ll ever write another film because I like other people’s films more than mine now.
“I remember the shock when I saw ‘Notting Hill’. I thought, ‘Oh my God it’s exactly the same film as ‘Four Weddings!'”
Curtis – who also had TV hits with ‘Blackadder’ and ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ – admits that he was left exasperated by the way his films were marketed.
He said: “When I see trailers for my movies, everything’s in the wrong order, they give away the plots, they use shots that aren’t in the film.”
The Comic Relief co-creator accepts that his work is not to everybody’s taste and “has a lot of respect for people” who do not like his movies – although he would always advise critics to look at themselves too.
Curtis told Big Issue magazine: “I’ve got a lot of respect for people who don’t like my films. As long as, in their own lives, they’re trying to change things rather than simply trying to knock things down.”
Critics have accused the writer’s films of lacking diversity and featuring what could be seen as sexist plotlines and he suggested that he would write pictures differently now in response to campaigns such as the Black Lives Matter movement.
Richard said: “I think I would write different movies now. Things do change and that is what is exciting about a moment like this.
“We are all re-calibrating, we are all thinking about things in different ways. We have a really impatient younger generation who are focusing on things that I never focused on. You know, I’m hopeful.”

Time Team and Operation Nightingale to carry out Band of Brothers dig

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Time Team’ squad is to carry out a dig in a bid to find artefacts linked to US Army regiment the Band of Brothers.
Experts from the British archaeology show will work with Operation Nightingale to try and uncover lost items which were used by the soldiers during World War II.
The excavation commemorates 80 years since the legendary Easy Company of the US 101st Airborne Division were stationed in Wiltshire, England, ahead of the D-Day Normandy landings which took place on June 6, 1944 as well as other pivotal actions such as Operation Overlord, Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge.
The dig will take place from May 2 to May 9 and is being led by Operation Nightingale, a Ministry of Defence initiative that uses archaeology to support the recovery of servicemen and women returning from conflict.
Matt Williams will provide daily updates as the action unfolds on Time Team’s Patreon channel. The full story will then be brought together in a Time Team Special documentary hosted by Sir Tony Robinson, airing at a later date.
Time Team’s creator and Series Producer Tim Taylor said: “We’re thrilled to be joining forces again with our good friends, Richard Osgood and Operation Nightingale. I’ve always believed in archaeology’s qualities for promoting good wellbeing. I can’t wait to see what we discover together!”
Richard Osgood, MBE, added: “Operation Nightingale last worked with Time Team in our early years, in 2012, and it’s wonderful to be reunited. Back then it was a Saxon cemetery, but this time we can’t wait to work together on a site of huge 20th century importance, and to continue our efforts to assist military veterans with the power of archaeology!”
The Band of Brothers dig follows the release of Time Team’s latest episodes: a Knights Hospitaller preceptory in Shropshire, and an international Expedition Crew collaboration investigating an ancient city in Greece.
The premieres led a record-breaking month of almost 1 million views worldwide, with another episode release on the way, featuring an Anglo-Saxon cemetery in Norfolk.
First airing in 1994 on the UK’s Channel 4, ‘Time Team’, created by Series Producer Tim Taylor, became a Sunday teatime staple. Today, the show is watched in over 50 countries worldwide.
Presented by ‘Blackadder’ star Robinson ‘Time Team’ made household names of archaeologists including the late Mick Aston, Phil Harding and Carenza Lewis. Vintage episodes are available on the ‘Time Team Classics’ YouTube channel, which has over 200,000 subscribers worldwide.
Across 20 series, ‘Time Team’ investigated over 220 sites, including iconic landmarks Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Westminster Abbey. At its height, ‘Time Team’ was one of the UK’s largest independent funders of archaeology, and the series is credited with boosting the popularity of archaeology in Britain.
The show relaunched independently in 2020 with the support of thousands of fans worldwide on the platform Patreon (patreon.com/TimeTeamOfficial).
New episodes hosted by Dr Gus Casely-Hayford, OBE are available on the ‘Time Team’ Official YouTube channel, which recently surpassed 150,000 subscribers and 10 million views.

Laura Hamilton shares home value boosing tips

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Hamilton is “not surprised” home owners would rather do up their houses than move.
The ‘A Place in the Sun’ presenter has advised the areas of the house people might want to address over the bank holiday weekend, after a survey found half of homeowners plan to dabble in DIY during the upcoming longweekends, particularly because 26% are choosing to invest in their current properties to boost their values further down the line.
She said: “I’m no stranger to renovating property, in fact over the last 22 years I’ve renovated 19 properties, including a commercial unit. So, it’s safe to say I’ve picked up a few top tips along the way.
“It’s not surprising, with the cost-of-living crisis affecting so many, that more and more homeowners are investing in home improvements, to add value to their existing properties, rather than taking on the stress and expense of moving.”
Laura’s suggestions included freshening up the paintwork – with her top tip being to paint the ceiling and woodwork the same colour as the walls to give a more “homely” feel – and dressing rooms carefully with well-chosen accessories such as rugs, mirrors, flowers and candles.
The property expert also advised the paint can be used to give a kitchen a facelift, simply by painting cupboard doors and drawer fronts, as well as changing the handles, in order to give the room a “fresh new lease of life” without breaking the bank.
The 40-year-old star also spoke of the importance of “kerb appeal” – tidying the outside space by reseeding a patchy lawn, pruning or planting, and jet washing walls and patios.
And finally, Laura urged people to look at their loft spaces as extra rooms, rather than dumping grounds and to consider boarding out the spaces before adding storage solutions.
She said: “Making use of untapped areas like your loft, which is often one of the largest spaces in your home, is a great way to attract potential buyers who are looking for more usable space – believe me, you can never have too much storage space.
“LoftZone and products like it are smart investments to help you do just this – creating a safe, strong, and secure storage area that means you have an organised and usable space rather than a cluttered and overwhelming dumping ground.”
Laura’s tips were echoed by LoftZone, who commissioned the survey.
CEO Dave Raval said: “Bank-holiday weekends for many of us are spent decluttering and reorganizing our homes – on the hunt for more space. Our research found that the average loft in the UK is 22 square metres of (often untapped) space, and 41% of us just use this space as a dumping ground for our belongings.
“By installing our StoreFloor loft boarding system, loft shelving, loft lighting and loft wardrobes you can maximise storage space, keeping your treasured possessions organised and safe.”

Paul O’Grady’s family say at his funeral they will miss him ‘forever’

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul O’Grady’s family said at his funeral they will miss him “forever”.
The comic, broadcaster and animal rights campaigner, who rose to fame with drag alter ego Lily Savage and died aged 67 on March 28 due to cardiac arrhythmia, was honoured by scores of family, friends and loved ones at his final farewell in his home village of Adlington, Kent.
His husband Andre Portasio was seen wiping away tears today as he rode a horse and carriage carrying Paul’s coffin while clutching their dog Conchita.
He then led mourners into the stand-up’s private funeral service, with famous mourners including Ronnie Wood, Alan Carr, Jo Brand, Julian Clary, the late Dame Barbara Windsor’s widower Scott Mitchell and ‘EastEnders’ actors such as Scott Malsen, Cheryl Fergison and Linda Henry.
Paul’s daughter Sharyn said in a note left in tribute to her dad: “Gongan, we miss you so much, Abel and Halo will never forget you. Your little teddy is with you. I love you.”
And a tribute from his heartbroken sister Sheila said: “Dear Paul, beloved and loved brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Will love, remember and miss you forever. Rest in peace.”
A floral wreath in the shape of Paul’s late dog Buster, who died from cancer in 2009, was pictured leaning against his coffin as it made its way to St Rumwold’s church.
Also with Paul’s daughter Sharyn was a young man holding a white Lily Savage on a stand, who is thought to be the comedian’s grandson.
In tribute to Paul’s love of dogs and the fact he rehomed five of them, three volunteers from the Battersea Cats and Dogs Home formed a guard of honour with a black Labrador cross and a pug as his coffin was carried by six pallbearers into the church.
A Salvation Army band struck up outside the ceremony, played a medley of songs including Tomorrow from the musical ‘Annie’, with which Paul had been touring with a production of the hit show at the time of his death.

Clint Eastwood eyes Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette for new legal thriller

OHMYGOSSIP — Clint Eastwood is believed to offered Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette the chance to star in his new legal thriller.
The 92-year-old actor-turned-director has decided his next project will be ‘Juror #2’ – written by Jonathan Abrams – about a member of a jury who is drawn into the court room action during the trial when he begins to suspect he may have played a part in the victim’s death himself in a road traffic accident.
The film revolves around whether the juror decides to turn himself in to face justice or use his position to sway the trial.
Empire reports the four-time Oscar-winner has spent the last few months weighing up scripts and holding talks with actors before narrowing down his choices to Nicholas Hoult to play the guilt-ridden juror and Toni Collette as the lead prosecutor.
He’s believed to have been attempting to cast the roles since last year, but The Hollywood Reporter now states that official offers have gone out.
The film has yet to be given the green light but Eastwood is said to have pencilled in a June start date to being production.
Eastwood’s last movie was 2021’s ‘Cry Macho’ which received mixed reviews and THR reports ‘Juror #2’ might be ‘Dirty Harry’ star’s final movie as he wanted to “find one last project in order to be able to ride off into the sunset with his head held high”.
The moviemaker won two Oscars for his 1993 movie ‘Unforgiven’ – Best Directing and Best Picture – and scored the same gongs in 2005 for ‘Million Dollar Baby’.

Alison Hammond and Vernon Kay’s quiz show ‘canned’

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Hammond and Vernon Kay’s ‘Friends Like These’ reboot has reportedly been shelved.
The pair had been due to front a new version of the BBC gameshow – which originally ran from 2000 until 2003 – and they even got together to film a pilot episode last month but The Sun newspaper now reports the project has been canned because TV bosses were worried there might not be a place for it in the schedule.
A source told the publication: “Bringing back ‘Friends Like These’ seemed a no-brainer but bosses felt it wasn’t the right time, as the light entertainment schedule is just so packed.
“It’s no reflection on either Alison or Vernon, who did a sterling job as hosts. There’s hope it could be reignited further down the line.”
Neither Alison or Vernon will be left short of work though – the former ‘Big Brother’ star has just landed a new role hosting ‘The Great British Bake Off’ while Vernon has taken over Ken Bruce’s slot on BBC Radio 2.
‘Friends Like These’ first aired as a one-off episode in 1999 before returning as a full series the following year. It was originally hosted by Ant and Dec before footballer-turned-TV pundit Ian Wright took over.
The format featured two groups of friends competing in challenges in a bid to win a holiday. It spawned a series of celebrity specials which saw the cast of BBC soap ‘EastEnders’ take on the actors of medical drama ‘Holby City’ while pop groups Steps and Damage also competed against each other.

James Gunn tells critic DC Studios supports his promotion of his final Marvel movie

OHMYGOSSIP — DC Studios co-chair James Gunn has hit back after a fan slammed him for promoting rival Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’.
The filmmaker and studio executive co-wrote and directed the flick, which was his final commitment for Marvel Studios before he became in charge at the rival firm with Peter Safran, and a social media user has called out Gunn for advertising “the competition”.
They commented underneath a behind-the-scenes look at ‘Guardians Vol.3’ on Instagram: “The worst business that DC could do was to hire someone who advertises the competition.
“Unbelievable, now can you imagine what their movies are going to be like??? I think it’s a disaster.”
However, Gunn insists it would be worse for him to abandon the promotion of the film he spent years nurturing and insisted DC support him.
He wrote back: “The last thing DC would want is someone who would spend the last 12 years of his life creating a series of films, and then turn his back on his last movie.
“I wasn’t hired at DC without everyone on board being very clear and supportive up front and continuously through this process.”
The critic will no doubt have been surprised to learn that a DC/Marvel crossover is “more likely” now Gunn’s the co-head of DC Studios.
He recently confirmed there have been talks of a crossover but it’s a long way off from happening.
Gunn told Empire magazine: “I’m certain that’s more likely now that I’m in charge [at DC].
“Who knows?”
He added: “That’s many years away, though. I think we have to establish what we’re doing [at DC] first. I would be lying to say that we haven’t discussed it. But all discussions have been very, very light and fun.”
In the past, there have been crossovers with the comics ‘JLA/Avengers’, and the tales ‘Batman/Daredevil: King of New York’ and ‘Green Lantern/Silver Surfer: Unholy Alliances’.
However, it’s been years since the two superhero universes collided.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, is heading to cinemas on May 5.

Holly Willoughby has singles, will be absent from This Morning this week

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby will be absent from ‘This Morning’ for a while as she has shingles.
The co-host won’t be on the ITV show’s sofa with Phillip Schofield as she is suffering from the nasty viral infection – caused by the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus that causes chickenpox – that causes a painful rash anywhere on the body.
She announced on her Instagram Story: “Hi, just to let you know, I may be away for the rest of the week as I have shingles.
“I’ll be back as soon as I’m better. Huge love.”
The 42-year-old presenter hosts the show from Monday to Thursday with 61-year-old Phillip.
Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary take over on Fridays.
However, Holly’s replacement is not known at this time.
Phillip is said to be returning to the show today (17.04.23), after taking time off for his brother Timothy’s trial.
The TV star has disowned his sibling after he admitted to sexually abusing a teenage boy.
Timothy, 54, appeared in the dock at Exeter Crown Court on Monday (27.03.23) and was convicted of 11 counts of sexual offences.
In a statement released by his lawyer, Phillip said: “My overwhelming concern is and has always been for the wellbeing of the victim and his family.
“I hope that their privacy will now be respected. If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my brother, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family.
“These are despicable crimes, and I welcome the guilty verdicts. As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother.”

Richard Armitage: Kissing Dawn French is a highlight of my life

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Armitage says that kissing Dawn French is one of the “highlights” of his life.
The 51-year-old actor starred in the two-part finale of ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ in which his character Harry Kennedy married the title character – played by Dawn French – and remarked that getting to lock lips with the “iconic” ‘Frech and Saunders’ comedienne as one of the best things he has ever done.
He told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “Dawn French, you know, she’s an icon, it’s kissing an icon. And she is a beloved character, as was Geraldine Granger. I think that was a highlight of my life. Maybe I should put that up there.”
The ecclesiastical sitcom – which had a sporadic run on BBC One from 1994 until 2007 – was filmed in front of a live studio audience and the ‘Obsession’ stat went on to add that because he doesn’t do comedy “very often”, he was left in awe as he watched Dawn play in front of a crowd.
He added: “I’ve never worked with a live audience, I don’t do comedy very often. I’ve never worked with a live audience before and seeing what she does in front of a live audience was just groundbreaking for me.”
Richard has also enjoyed success on the big screen with a starring role in ‘The Hobbit’ and appeared in numerous theatrical productions over the years but explained that if he had to pick just one medium for the rest of his career, he would opt to only appear on television because it is the most “accessible” genre.
He said: “I think [I would pick] TV? I mean, I don’t want to dismiss either of the other two because theatre has this immediacy, which is extraordinary, but I love that slow piecing together of a character and tiny fragments that create a whole and I think television is the most accessible medium because it’s in everybody’s home so you can reach people more easily and more globally. And I think that’s amazing.

BGT star Amy Lou Smith gives birth just hours before audition airs on TV

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Lou Smith gave birth to a little girl just hours before her ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ audition aired on TV.
The 34-year-old sunbed shop was 30 weeks pregnant when she wowed judges Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli with a rendition of Beyonce’s ‘Listen’ and eventually welcomed Aidaat 15:59 on Saturday (15.04.23), little more than three hours before her performance screened.
Amy told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “She is absolutely perfect and healthy in every single form. “I am so overwhelmed with all the love and support I’ve received from being on the show. I cannot put into words how in love we are with our perfect little girl.
“She’s made the family complete. love being a mum and I’m beyond grateful and blessed that I’ve been able to welcome Aida into the world. It all feels like a dream right now and I keep having to pinch myself to make sure it’s not.
“We didn’t know my audition would be airing this weekend until the day before and I was already booked in to have Aida – so we were so shocked! I hadn’t told anybody on the show I was having her this weekend – so it’s crazy!”
Amy – who also performs regularly as a pub singer in her hometown of Tipton in the West Midlands – was sent straight through to the next round after her performance and explained that her hospital room soon became “swarmed” by nurses who had just watched her on television.
She added: “She had people swarming our room! Nurses etc who had just watched the audition in the offices. What a day yesterday was for me. Life has gone crazy as you may imagine and the feedback and comments and positivity from the show is just insane – I’m so happy!”
