I’m A Celebrity South Africa stars face ultimatum after contraband discovered in camp

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ stars face an ultimatum in tonight’s (27.04.23) episode after contraband is discovered in camp.
A Bush Bulletin arrives in camp on Thursday night’s episode, and newcomer Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo is tasked with reading out the message, which alerted the campmates to the news they wouldn’t be receiving their dinner until any camp contraband is “surrendered”.
Toff read: “Celebrities, there is contraband in camp.
“You will not get your dinner until you’ve surrendered all contraband.
“There’s an amnesty bowl in the Telegraph.”
Amir Khan was particularly confused by the ultimatum, asking: “What’s an amnesty bowl? What’s a contraband?”
Jordan Banjo explained to him, and then asked the group: “Who has got something they shouldn’t have?”
The celebrities had expected to see their dinner in the bag, but Amir realised it was a stone inside alongside the Bush Bulletin message.
Jordan then said: “Come on, own up. We’re all hungry. Who has got something they shouldn’t have?”
Earlier in the episode, Gillian McKeith owns up to another campmate that she has smuggled some contraband into camp.
Elsewhere on the ep, Andy Whyment and Myleene Klass go head-to-head in a trial in a bid to win a spot in the main camp.
The pair had been struggling to light the fire in their Savannah Scrub camp.
‘Coronation Street’ star Andy and singer Myleene thought they had spent about two-and-a-half hours trying to light the fire, but show co-hosts Ant and Dec revealed it was in fact more than four hours – a new ‘I’m A Celebrity’ record.
In the trial, the two are individually placed inside giant vuvuzelas, before being covered up to their necks.
They must take turns to pick a number and answer a question, which range from quizzing them about the planets, to the names of characters in teen TV show ‘Byker Grove’.
If they get it correct they earn a point and shower their opponent in critters. Get it wrong and they themselves are showered in critters.
‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ airs tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX, and on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player in Ireland.

EastEnders’ Ben Mitchell to struggle with bulimia

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ Ben Mitchell is to struggle with bulimia in a new storyline.
The BBC One soap have teamed up with charity Beat to work on the hard-hitting plot, which will see the mental health of Max Bowden’s character spiral, and he starts to restrict aspects of his lifestyle, specifically exercise and food.
Viewers will see Ben start to hide his eating disorder from his loved ones as he continues to suffer in silence by imposing heavier restrictions on his diet as well as bingeing and purging in secret.
Chris Clenshaw, EastEnders’ Executive Producer, praised Max for his “thoughtful” portrayal.
He said of the storyline: “It was vital for us to work alongside Beat to accurately present, and sensitively portray Ben’s bulimia storyline.
“Max’s [Bowden] performance has thoughtfully portrayed the isolating reality of an eating disorder with compassion and understanding as we explore how the traumatic events of Ben’s past have affected his mental health.”
Tom Quinn, Director of External Affairs at Beat, admitted the charity are hoping Ben’s story will help to raise awareness of the warning signs of bulimia.
He added: “One in four people with an eating disorder are men, but it’s rare to see storylines that show how men are affected by these serious mental illnesses.
“At Beat we welcome that ‘EastEnders’ has chosen to highlight this important issue and we’ve been pleased to review scripts, to help ensure bulimia is represented in a sensitive and accurate way.
“We hope that Ben’s story will help to raise awareness of the warning signs and encourage people to reach out for the support they need.”
In recent years, viewers have seen Ben face a series of catastrophic events which have significantly impacted his mental health.
Things are set to get worse for him as he attempts to stay strong for his family as the health of Lola Pearce-Brown (Danielle Harold) – the mother of Ben’s daughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) – deteriorates due to her incurable brain tumour.

James Corden: We’ll only do another Gavin and Stacey if it doesn’t ‘let people down’

OHMYGOSSIP — James Corden and Ruth Jones will only write another ‘Gavin and Stacey’ episode if they can do something which “won’t let people down”.
The 44-year-old star is to return to the UK when his stint as host of American-based ‘The Late Late Show’ comes to an end this week after eight years, but that doesn’t mean the Buckinghamshire-born actor and comedian will definitely be penning another episode of the loved BBC comedy.
Speaking to ‘Lorraine’ US reporter Dani Behr on the ITV1 show, he said: “‘Gavin and Stacey’, look, Ruth is one of my best friends. I’m going to see her but I don’t know if we’re gonna talk about it.
“I saw her at Christmas, we didn’t even really mention it if I’m honest, it didn’t come up because we were talking about so much other stuff.
“Every day when we do the show here [in the US], when we’re on our little breaks, I ask if anyone has got any questions and there’s normally always a Brit in the crowd.
“Three days out of five, somebody asks ‘What happens to Smithy and Nessa, are we ever gonna find out?’ All I know is we won’t do it unless we can do something that won’t let people down.”
The show last aired a one-off Christmas special in 2019, but the episode ended with a cliff-hanger when Ruth’s character Nessa Jenkins popped the question to James’ alter-ego Neil ‘Smithy’ Smith, and the end credits rolled before he could give an answer.
James has admitted he recently saw Ruth, but they didn’t speak about the show “in life-growing forms”.
He told The Sun newspaper: “In truth Ruth and I met up at Christmas … and I know it will be a disappointment, but we didn’t talk about it in life-growing forms.
“We talked about who we had spoken to from the cast recently, but that was about it.
“It is wonderful people loved the characters that much and whenever I’m back home, and chat with the cabbies they say, ‘You’ve done well for yourself’. It’s lovely.
“But now people only want a good show. I don’t think about [Smithy and Nessa’s future] until Ruth and I are in a room.
“We cannot write remotely; we tried it when I was in New York with ‘The History Boys’ and we tried it over Skype, and we couldn’t do it.
“It is whether we decide to get into a room together and honestly I could not tell you what the chances are of that. We both have to be ready and right.”

Joanna Page ‘to front travel mini-series for This Morning’

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanna Page will front a travel mini-series for ‘This Morning’.
The ‘Gavin and Stacey’ star has been named as the host of a four-part travel programme that will showcase holiday destinations across the UK and Europe featured in hit films – including the James Bond franchise, ‘The Railway Children, ‘Downton Abbey’ and ‘Paddington’ – for the ITV1 daytime show.
The 46-year-old actress told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “’Gavin and Stacey’ put Barry Island on the map when it burst on to our screens in 2007 and in the UK – and apparently almost half of us would consider visiting a destination after seeing it on a show or movie.”
Joanna will also head to Italy to check out spots shown in the Sir Ridley Scott helmed ‘Gladiator’, which starred Russell Crowe.
She added: “I am exploring some of the top filming locations in Europe.
“Whether it be busy train stations, sleepy Yorkshire towns or historical buildings, virtually anywhere can be the setting for your favourite film and TV.
“In this series I’m going to be visiting some of my favourites.”
Insiders close to the ‘Love Actually’ star enthused how she is “thrilled” to get the gig for the magazine programme, which is presented by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
They told the publication: “Joanna is a huge fan of This Morning, having been a viewer for many years, and is utterly thrilled to be a small part of the on-screen family for this mini-series.”
The actress previously called meeting the star-studded cast of the 2003 festive rom-com ‘Love Actually’ – in which she appeared as Just Judy – “huge”.
Joanna told the Metro newspaper: “Arriving for the read-through was just huge.
“I mean, I must have been about 23 and I walked into the door and there was Martine McCutcheon opposite me, Hugh Grant was next to her, then there was Liam Neeson and Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson.
“I was just like, ‘Oh my God, this is a room full of everybody who I admire and I can’t believe I’ve got to open my mouth and speak to them.’
“Then Richard Curtis said to me, ‘The American girls can’t be here, so can you read their lines at the end of the film?’ So I was like, ‘OK, yes, I’ll do that.’ And then I spent the next two hours absolutely panicking. Should I do an American accent? Should I not? Oh, my God, is it going to be awful? So it came to the lines and I attempted the accent. Everybody laughed.”

“I’m like, ‘Wow, what a journey you’re about to go on!’ And of course, her journey is tied to mine in some ways. It’s a different one.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Pine is to voice King Magnifico in the Disney animated film ‘Wish’.
The company’s distribution boss Tony Chambers revealed the news that the ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ star will be lending his voice to the picture during the studio’s CinemaCon presentation on Wednesday (26.04.23).
Chris joins a cast that includes Ariana DeBose and Alan Tudyk. His character is the ruler of Rosas, a magical kingdom where wishes really do come true.
‘Wish’ screenwriter Jennifer Lee said: “As the most powerful person in the kingdom, King Magnifico needed to be played by someone who could give all the charm, cleverness and charisma to this magnanimous character, and Chris is beautifully bringing all of that and then some.”
The movie tells the story of Asha (DeBose), an idealist who makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force – a ball of boundless energy called Star.
Asha and Star set out to prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, amazing things can happen.
Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn are directing the movie with Peter Del Vecho and Juan Pablo Reyes co-producing.
‘Wish’ is slated for release in November and will help mark the culmination of Disney100, a yearlong celebration of the studio’s 100th anniversary that honours the legacy of Walt Disney.
Meanwhile, Chris previously expressed frustration about being kept out of the loop on ‘Star Trek 4’.
The 42-year-old star is set to reprise his role as James T. Kirk in the latest movie in the long-running sci-fi franchise but is annoyed by the lack of progress being made on the film after it was removed from Paramount’s release calendar following the departure of director Matt Shakman.
Chris told Esquire magazine: “I don’t know anything. In ‘Star Trek’ land, the actors are usually the last people to find out anything. I know costume designers that have read scripts before the actors.”

Adrian Chiles wanted to throw wine in Andy Townsend’s face due to ADHD

OHMYGOSSIP — Adrian Chiles once had an “urge” to throw wine in Andy Townsend’s face.
The TV presenter has told how he once felt he wanted to douse his ex ITV Sport colleague, 58, in a glass of the alcohol, and blames it on Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) – a condition that affects people’s behaviour – but the former footballer was really good-natured about Adrian’s urge.
The 56-year-old broadcaster told Gabby Logan on her ‘Mid Point’ podcast: “Sometimes I’m talking to someone, I’m having a really nice conversation over a glass of wine, and I get this urge to throw the wine in their face.
“I actually had exactly that and I think it was Andy Townsend. I just had to text him.
“I said, ‘Look, bear with me here. This is random as hell. I’ve just got to share it with you’. Andy, being lovely, we just talked about it.”
Adrian first thought he could have ADHD after he read ‘Delivered From Distraction’ by Edward M Hallowell, and it only took showing three “cynical” confidants excerpts from the tome to be convinced he had it.
He said: “I mentioned this diagnosis to my PA, my younger daughter – who was 16 at the time – and a friend of mine, all three of them very cynical people and they all went, ‘Nah, b*******.’
“Then I showed them two pages from this book where it outlines the classic symptoms of ADHD and they all reacted the same, just closed the book and said, ‘Yeah, that’s you.’ ”
The former ‘The One Show’ presenter has also explored his excessive drinking – which can be another way ADHD manifests – in many different avenues, such as BBC documentary ‘Drinkers Like Me’ and his book, ‘The Good Drinker’.
Adrian told the Yorkshire Post newspaper: “At the time, one of the show’s I did was late Thursday night, so obviously I wouldn’t drink on those nights, but every other day of that week I’d have a drink.
“And I couldn’t remember the last day that I didn’t have a drink, apart from those Thursday nights. I thought there’s something wrong here.”

Sir Kenneth Branagh glad to play Poirot again in A Haunting in Venice

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Kenneth Branagh is grateful to be playing Hercule Poirot again in ‘A Haunting in Venice’.
The 62-year-old star reprises his role as Agatha Christie’s sleuth in the upcoming film and is delighted to have the chance to make another movie after the challenges of the previous installment ‘Death on the Nile’ – which was hit by delays due to the coronavirus pandemic and sexual misconduct allegations surrounding star Armie Hammer.
Kenneth told The Hollywood Reporter: “(‘Death on the Nile’s’) theatrical release was challenged for various reasons, but it still did exceptional numbers in the circumstances. And then the streaming performance was really exceptional.
“So I was very pleased when they came back to us, for sure.”
He continued: “I was particularly grateful to the single determining factor, really, which was the audience. The audience seems to want it, and they seem to be ready for another. So we were happy to try and do one.”
Kenneth reunites with ‘Belfast’ stars Jamie Dornan and Jude Hill on the mystery movie and felt that the pair’s bond was important on the set of the film – which is slated for release in September.
The ‘Artemis Fowl’ director said: “Jude and Jamie’s rapport and camaraderie was vital. It had a really positive effect on the rest of the cast, because actors can sometimes feel very nervous coming into these films.
“It almost feels like you’re arriving at a new school where everybody already knows each other, but Jude and Jamie’s generosity – and their clear ease with me – was a really good, helpful sign for the other actors. So I was most grateful that they were involved.”

Steven Spielberg praises Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Spielberg loved ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’.
The 76-year-old director stepped aside for James Mangold after helming the four previous movies in the franchise but had high praise for the latest action-adventure flick after attending a recent screening.
Asked what it was like to watch an ‘Indiana Jones’ film that he did not direct at the Time 100 Summit, Spielberg said: “I just had that experience two nights ago.
“Bob Iger had a screening for a lot of the Disney executives, and I came to the screening along with the director James Mangold. Everybody loved the movie. It’s really, really a good ‘Indiana Jones’ film. I’m really proud of what Jim has done with it.”
‘The Fabelmans’ director added: “When the lights came up I just turned to the group and said, ‘Damn! I thought I was the only one who knew how to make one of these.'”
It has been confirmed that the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchise will end for good following the release of the fifth movie this summer and Mangold revealed that he had doubts about the project as he didn’t want to make another film featuring Harrison Ford’s archaeologist just for the sake of it.
The 59-year-old filmmaker said: “In some ways, the danger with sequels is really, do they just exist to make money or do they have something left to say? And that’s kind of the blunt question for me. Money is wonderful, but I’m not really interested in the creative act of just making a thing that’s here just to cash in on its name.”

He told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “The really hard part is longevity. Getting on TV is really difficult. And doing shows that you really love and enjoy is really hard. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are ‘excited’ for Bad Boys 4

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are “excited” for ‘Bad Boys 4’ as filming continues.
The two actors are on set working on the fourth film in the buddy cop franchise and revealed they are both feeling hyped for the upcoming movie.
Appearing remotely at CinemaCon, Smith said: “We’re hype, we’re excited.”
He apologised for the duo not being in Las Vegas in person, but Lawrence was quick to interject.
Noting they’re four weeks into filming the new movie, he quipped: “We’re not sorry we couldn’t be there.”
Smith joked: “We glad we not there because we here and they’re paying us to be here.”
Smith and Lawrence are reprising their roles as detectives Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey respectively while Vanessa Hudgens, Paola Nunez and Alexander Ludwig are all returning after featuring in the 2020 film ‘Bad Boys for Life’.
The plot is being kept under wraps but Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will be behind the camera again and are directing from a script by Chris Bremner.

He said: “We got one more at least.”
The original ‘Bad Boys’ film was released way back in 1995 and Lawrence felt that the project had a transformative impact on his career.
The 57-year-old star told Ebony magazine: “It was big.
“For us to come together and prove that we can deliver, and we can pull people into the box office – that two black stars, two sitcom stars, could make the money at the box office (was huge).
“I didn’t go to college, so I felt TV was my college years. I felt with movies, I had graduated; it was just different.”
