Strictly’s Kai Widdrington and Nadiya Bychkova ‘focused’ on their careers

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ couple Kai Widdrington and Nadiya Bychkova are “focused” on their careers.
The loved-up dancing duo – who met on the set of the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition in 2017 before getting together in 2021 – are “living the dream” as they prioritise the show’s next series and their upcoming tour ‘Once Upon A Tour’ over other relationship milestones.
Nadiya told OK! magazine: “Right now, we’re just focused on our tour and making it work with everything else going on. When you’re constantly on the go performing, that’s all you think about – making sure it’s all as good as it can be. It’s pretty amazing. It’s living the dream.”
The 33-year-old star praised Kai for how “amazing” he is with her six-year-old daughter Mila, who she has with her footballer ex Matija Skarabot.
She said: “We’re very happy where we are at the moment. I love being with Kai, and being a mother – he’s amazing with Mila and I can’t wait for our future.”
Kai believes the key to their union is “always” being supportive and being “a hopeless romantic”.
The 27-year-old dancer said: “Always being there for each other, no matter what, even when it gets hard. We all go through hard times and struggles – that’s what relationships are about.
“I think we’re both equally romantic. We both love love, and we’re so happy to be together. But I’m a hopeless romantic. A lady should always be treated right.”
The pair admitted they will “miss” the outgoing ‘Strictly: It Takes Two’ host Rylan Clark as he recently revealed he will be departing the ‘Strictly’ companion show.
Kai said: “We’ll miss him. He’ll remain a very good friend to both of us.
“He’s smashing his career and we can’t wait to see what else he gets up to. Off-screen, he’s just the best guy in the business – he’s hilarious. He’d message me when I first joined ‘Strictly’ saying, ‘You’re doing such a great job.’ He’s a lovely guy.”

Taika Waititi to direct Klara and the Sun

OHMYGOSSIP — Taika Waititi is set to direct ‘Klara and the Sun’.
The 47-year-old filmmaker is in talks to helm the movie based on the story by Japanese-British novelist Kazuo Ishiguro for Sony’s 3000 Pictures.
The tale follows Klara, a robot girl created to prevent teenagers from getting lonely, who tries to save a family of humans that she lives with from heartbreak.
The book earned positive reviews and was longlisted for the Booker Prize in 2021.
Dahvi Waller is adapting the script for the film and Ishiguro will serve as an executive producer on the project.
The writer’s work has been adapted for the big screen before as his 1989 novel ‘The Remains of the Day’ was made into an Oscar-nominated picture of the same name starring Sir Anthony Hopkins and Dame Emma Thompson four years later.
Waititi’s upcoming movie ‘Next Goal Wins’ is set to be released later this year and he admits that the film had personal resonance.
The flick is an adaptation of the documentary about the American Samoa international football team – widely considered to be the weakest team in the world – and Taika could relate to the story through his upbringing in Polynesia.
In an interview with Empire magazine, he said: “It’s the ultimate underdog story.
“It taking place in Polynesia is very important to me, because it’s my people. We stick together. It was like seeing myself up there, seeing my family up there, when I saw that documentary, which is so perfect in many ways.
“And to have broader audiences have access to that story was one of my main goals. To bring our backyard to people, and to put brown faces on screen was a big deal for me. I just loved it.”

Judy Craymer determined to make third Mamma Mia! film

OHMYGOSSIP — Judy Craymer is determined to make a third ‘Mamma Mia!’ film.
The 65-year-old producer has worked on both the original stage production and the two movies in the musical based on ABBA’s songs and hopes that another film can be made.
Speaking to Deadline, Judy said: “It’s in its earliest stages. I don’t want to over-egg it, but I know there’s a trilogy there.”
The producer revealed that her ideas for the new film involve bringing back popular characters such as Meryl Streep’s Donna – who had died in the events of the 2018 film ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ – and Cher’s Ruby, mother to Donna and grandmother to Sophie (Amanda Seyfried).
Craymer said: “There is a story there, and I do think Meryl should come back – and if the script is right, she would, I think, because she really loved playing Donna.”
The producer explained that progress on the movie is likely to be slow as any developments must come with the blessing of ABBA members Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, who share the rights to the production with her.
Craymer explained: “We want to do another movie, and they’re (being cautious).
“But that’s the story of the last 25 years – there’s always a sense of caution from them, and we’re all getting older now. Obviously, anything to do with the music, they have to be okay with.”
Ol Parker directed ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ and previously claimed that Craymer had plans in place for another film.
He told Screen Rant: “Judy Craymer, the genius producer behind the musical and the first two films, always plans for it to be a trilogy. That’s all I can say.
“The first one made an enormous amount of money, and I think we made a fair amount, too. I know that there is a hunger for a third, and I know that she has a plan. Wouldn’t it be lovely?”

Sir David Attenborough is top choice to represent Earth in contact with aliens

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Attenborough has been named as the top choice to represent Earth in contact with aliens.
The legendary wildlife expert and broadcaster topped a study of 2,000 British adults to have the honour of representing the planet in the hypothetical scenario of aliens inviting the human race to join the Galactic Federation – a supposed alliance of extraterrestrial civilisations within the Milky Way.
Professor Brian Cox and former US president Barack Obama were ranked second and third in the poll respectively.
Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, environmental activist Greta Thunberg, survival expert Bear Grylls and Hollywood star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson were also included as top choices to represent Earth in contact with the little green men.
Additionally, Twitter chief Elon Musk, comedian Ricky Gervais and actor Will Smith have been selected to represent the best of humanity.
Nick Pope, who investigated UFOs for the Ministry of Defence, said: “Once again, Sir David Attenborough has been selected as representing the very best of humanity.
“He’s spent his life exploring and showcasing the furthest reaches of Planet Earth, so it’s no surprise he’s topped the poll for who’d be best to make first contact with ETs.”
The research was commissioned by National Geographic ahead of the launch of the new documentary series ‘UFO’s: Investigating the Unknown’, which premieres on the channel on Tuesday (02.05.23).
Viewers will be taken on a journey to uncover the truth behind the fascinating UFO phenomena that has captivated humanity for generations as the top-secret Pentagon programme on UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) of the US government is exposed.

Sheridan Smith to star in The Castaways

OHMYGOSSIP — Sheridan Smith will star as a missing woman in ‘The Castaways’.
The ‘Moorside’ actress will play Lori opposite Celine Buckens as her sister Erin in the five-part drama for Paramount Plus, which is based on Lucy Clarke’s novel of the same name.
The show will follow the pair as they embark on a dream holiday to Fiji, but after the sisters have a row, Erin doesn’t board the island-hopping flight to their resort – and the plane, with Lori on board, never arrives at its destination and there are no trace of survivors or the aircraft wreckage.
But months later, Lori’s credit card is suddenly used in a remote Fiji village and Erin recognises the plane’s pilot from CCTV footage, prompting her to set out on a journey to track him down and find out what happened to her sister.
The episodes will jump between the two sisters’ perspectives, following Erin’s investigation and Lori’s fight to survive.
Sheridan said in a statement: “I’m so excited to be working with Céline Buckens and to be part of this amazing production bringing Lucy Clarke’s best-selling novel to life. And, as I’m currently playing Shirley Valentine in London’s West End, it’s ironic that I finally get to go Greece!”
Celine added: “I’m really thrilled to bring Erin to life – she’s a firecracker and the scripts bring layers and darkness to such an arresting premise. I hope audiences will be as hooked watching it as I was reading it.”
Filming will begin on location in Greece and Fiji next month.
Writer Lucy said of the show: “I’m so delighted that ‘The Castaways’ is being made for Paramount Plus. It promises to be an incredible adaptation; the scriptwriting is electric, and Sheridan and Céline are perfectly cast as Lori and Erin.
“It is such fun working with the teams at Clapperboard and BlackBox who couldn’t be more passionate about bringing my novel to life.”

Karen Gillan ‘can’t stop thinking about’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Karen Gillan “can’t stop thinking about” ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’.
The 35-year-old actress has reprised her role as Nebula in the third and final installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) saga and she admitted she went on an “emotional rollercoaster” when she watched the film back recently, even though she was able to view the movie “objectively” because she’d finished working on it so long ago.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I saw it for the first time at the premiere in L.A. two nights ago, and I can’t stop thinking about it.
“And I watched it fairly objectively because there was some distance.
“We shot it a year ago, and it was still such an emotional rollercoaster. I was crying hysterically and then I was laughing hysterically, and I would just alternate between those emotions. It was such an emotional ride.”
Meanwhile, Karen and her co-star Pom Klementieff – who plays Mantis – opened up about filming with a life-size Chris Pratt doll which doubled as his character Peter Quill and admitted they found it very “creepy”.
Karen said: “It was a doll of Chris. It was so creepy. It was that life-like even though it was dead-looking.
” It had pores. It had fuzzies that a human has on their skin. It was that life-like, and obviously, jokes ensued.”
Pom added: “It looked exactly like him.
“It looked like he was dead. It was very, very scary.
“It was so real that I could barely look at it.
“Yeah, it was creepy. We wanted to shoot some funny, weird videos, and then we were like, “You know what? We can’t do that because it looks too real.”
But the pair revealed the doll has gone missing.
Pom said: “We don’t know where it is now. That’s the problem.”
Karen added: “Someone’s got it in their bedroom.”
Her co-star agreed: “Yeah, that might be true. Not me. Is it you? ”
But Karen exclaimed: “What? No! Don’t look at me like that. Of course, it’s not me! My husband would have some questions about why I have a doll of [Chris] in my bedroom.”

Tye Sheridan to star alongside Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult in The Order

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Tender Bar’ actor Tye Sheridan is joining Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult in ‘The Order’.
The 26-year-old actor has inked a deal to star in the true-crime movie that is being directed by the acclaimed Australian filmmaker Justin Kurzel, Deadline reports.
His role has not been disclosed at this time.
The thriller is based on ‘The Silent Brotherhood’, the book by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt that chronicles the crimes of the titular white supremacist domestic terror group.
In 1983, a series of increasingly violent bank robberies and armoured car heists frightened communities throughout the Pacific Northwest in the United States.
Baffled law enforcement agencies are desperate for answers and a lone FBI agent (Law) based in sleepy Idaho comes to believe that the crimes are not the work of traditional criminals but instead a group of dangerous domestic terrorists, inspired by a radical and charismatic leader (Hoult).
Production on the movie will begin in Alberta, Canada on May 11. Oscar-nominated writer Zach Baylin has written the screenplay.
Kurzel has experience in the crime thriller genre having previously worked on movies such as ‘Snowtown’, ‘True History of the Kelly Gang’ and ‘Nitram’.
Sheridan is best known for playing the young Scott Summers / Cyclops in the reboot ‘X-Men’ film series, as well as Wade Watts in ‘Ready Player One’ and Ben Goudy in ‘Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse’.

Good Omens season two is hitting screens ‘this summer’

OHMYGOSSIP — The second season of ‘Good Omens’ is “done and dusted”.
The hit Amazon Prime and BBC Two fantasy drama series will return for another series “this summer”.
The show’s scribe Neil Gaiman made the announcement while sharing that he was taking part in a nationwide strike as he’s a member of the Writer’s Guild of America.
Responding to a follower, he said: “Good Omens Season 2 will be out this summer. It’s all done and dusted.”
He tweeted: “I’m in the Writers Guild of America. I wish this wasn’t happening and support it absolutely. When I wake up tomorrow I’ll be on strike. (To forestall the inevitable questions, Good Omens 2 is completed and handed in. Although I may not be able to promote it as I had hoped.).”
David Tennant and Michael Sheen are poised to make a return as Crowley and Aziraphale.
And the former’s brother Ty Tennant and his father-in-law Peter Davison have also been cast as Ennon and Alistair, respectively.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column in 2021: “The novel and the show gained a real cult following, so devotees will be thrilled to learn about this sequel.
“Although the first series covered the entire ‘Good Omens’ book, the creators will continue the plot well beyond the story originally penned by Sir Terry.
“But it’s a technique that’s well used in TV and has proved immensely popular in the past, so long as the creators manage to continue the spirit of the original.”
Despite the show’s success, Amazon was initially hesitant about casting David as the demon Crowley.
However, Neil – who originally cast Michael in the role – ultimately managed to convince the studio.
He said: “I just suddenly thought, ‘Actually, David Tennant could do this.’ It was a lovely, simple idea, and then it didn’t leave … [But] it was harder to get Amazon to sign up on David Tennant. The people at Amazon didn’t quite get why I wanted David.
“I knew that it would work. It finally came down to … you know, it would have been a day before David had to go off and do another movie. I phoned Amazon, and I said, ‘You have to say yes, because I don’t have a number two. There’s nobody else I want. So you have to say yes.’
“And they said yes. Fairly shortly after that, once they saw him acting, they were really apologetic about keeping us waiting.”
‘Good Omens’ told the story of how the demon Crowley and angel Aziraphale battle between Heaven and Hell to prevent the coming of the antichrist.
It’s based on the 1990 novel of the same name, which was penned by the late Terry Pratchett and Neil.
There is not a second book, so it’s currently unknown where the tale will go next.

Huw Edwards admits covering King Charles’ coronation is ‘daunting’

OHMYGOSSIP — Huw Edwards has admitted covering King Charles’ coronation is “daunting”.
The 61-year-old broadcaster will be the voice of the BBC for the historic event on Saturday (05.05.23), and he is feeling “excited and terrified, in equal measure” about the role he’s playing in such a significant day.
He told Radio Times magazine: “The scale of the event is daunting, because the more homework you do and the more that you watch the groundbreaking 1953 coverage of the coronation, which I have done at least half a dozen times, you understand today’s scale is bigger than people realise.
“Even when the Palace talks about downsizing, it’s still an event of global interest, not only for the Commonwealth but further afield. There will be a big audience for it.”
Huw noted that “the fact that it’s a hybrid” is a huge part of his professional anxiety before the event.
He explained: “It’s a celebration of the crowning of a King and Queen, but also at the heart, this is a very solemn religious ceremony, with parts that the Archbishop of Canterbury would refer to as sacred.
“That is clearly not fun and games. There are even things in the service that you cannot show!”
Meanwhile, he insisted the BBC will need to adapt its reporting to cover a monumental event for a modern audience.
There could be potential concerns people under 30 might not tune in after a recent YouGov poll suggested younger people aren’t as favourable towards the monarchy.
However, Huw said: “Well, it’s very difficult to draw broad conclusions from such a diverse group. Some will be watching with their families, or on social media, or just out of curiosity.
“There is a lot of money going into coverage on social media, which is absolutely right. The BBC would be crazy not to invest in those platforms.

Freddie Flintoff ‘off TV until 2024’ after Top Gear crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Freddie Flintoff will reportedly be off TV until 2024 following his ‘Top Gear’ crash.
The the 45-year-old former cricketer – who has co-hosted the BBC motoring show since 2019 – was airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured in a car crash during filming at the programme’s test track at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey in December.
Filming was already halted on ‘Top Gear’, but now it’s said a new, unnamed project for BBC2 – which has been compared to ‘The Repair Shop’ – is also on hold.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “It was hoped that the restoration show might have been an easy way back into making television for Freddie, who’s clearly been shaken up by the accident.
“And the fact that he could have been making it this spring meant there was a chance we could see him back on our screens by the end of the year.
“But it’s not a good sign that the filming has been called off at such a relatively late stage, and viewers will be gutted that such a popular star has been off air for so long.”
It also remains to be seen when he will be starting work on the second series of his BBC cricket documentary ‘Field of Dreams’.
The BBC previously said it would be “inappropriate” to resume filming ‘Top Gear’ after the accident.
They said in a statement: “Under the circumstances, we feel it would be inappropriate to resume making series 34.”
A decision on how best to continue will be made later this year and the BBC plan to carry out a health and safety review of the show.
The statement continued: “We have sincerely apologised to Freddie and will continue to support him with his recovery.
“We understand this [halting the show] will be disappointing for fans, but it is the right thing to do, and we’ll make a judgement about how best to continue later this year.
“Finally there will be a health and safety review of the show, in line with our procedures.”

The saucy Channel 4 documentary series is getting another run and “will be far bolder” by exploring throuples and teasing an 18 people strong orgy.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Bosses have really upped the ante this series. Viewers will definitely see the difference as the upcoming version will be far bolder and push the boundaries further. The sheer numbers involved in the orgy is likely to be a TV first.”
The show – which was made at a plush country home – will feature a load of “sexually liberated” singletons join in with already existing polyamorous relationships.
Casting is underway, with bosses at production company Firecracker looking for people to take part.

Amir Khan ‘didn’t really know anyone’ in I’m A Celebrity South Africa camp

OHMYGOSSIP — Amir Khan “didn’t really know anyone” in the ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ camp.
The ‘Meet The Khans: Big in Bolton’ star labelled himself “really bad” for only having heard of Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo and ex ‘Countdown’ star Carol Vorderman but, attributed his lack of pop culture knowledge to his boxing career.
After leaving the camp, the 36-year-old sportsman said: “To be honest with you, I didn’t really know anyone in camp when I entered. I’m really bad.
“The only people I knew in there was Toff and Carol Vorderman.
“I’m also really bad with names, I always get names wrong but people made that a bit of a joke and had a laugh about it.
“Luckily, they all had their names on the back of their t-shirts so sometimes I’d have a little peek at their backs as I couldn’t remember their names.
“But I had the best excuse ever. I’d say, it’s not because I’m dumb, it’s because I’ve been fighting all my life.”
Amir – who originally appeared on the show in 2017 with his ex ‘Made in Chelsea’ star friend who eventually snagged victory – loved getting to know all the rest of the celebs like Diversity’s Jordan Banjo, ex cricketer Phil Tufnell and Paul Burrell, the former butler of the late Princess Diana.
He said: “I got on really well with Jordan. We’re a similar age and he loves boxing. He knew more about boxing than I do!
“He was telling me about fights that I didn’t know about, which was a bit embarrassing!
“I was like, “Yeah, yeah, I saw that one!” I must admit, I don’t really watch that much boxing myself. But he was talking about it loads.
“And someone else was Tuffers. Lovely guy, cricket man, sportsman.
“But I just loved his banter. He is a very funny character. I just loved being around him. He’s a little bit childish as well so I really got on with him. He’s a funny guy to be around.
“Another one, Paul Burrell. Paul is a really lovely guy. The last two or three days in camp we really got close. We started having little chats.”
The ex WBA boxer – who has daughters Lamaisah, eight, Alayana, five, and son Muhammad, two with his wife Faryal Makhdoom, 31 – gushed that the all-star edition of the Ant and Dec-helmed ITV1 show was “one of the best experiences”.
Amir said: “I’m always going to compare it with my first time in Australia, but this one, for me, was way better. Great camp, the campmates were amazing.”

Fiona Shaw and Katherine Waterston starring in Park Avenue

OHMYGOSSIP — Fiona Shaw, Katherine Waterston and Chaske Spencer have been cast in ‘Park Avenue’.
The trio are to star in the new indie movie from director Gaby Dellal, which has entered production in New York City.
‘Park Avenue’ follows a mother and daughter who reveal secrets and unravel lies over the course of a fraught six weeks.
Fed up with her life of wrangling cattle in Canada, Charlotte (Waterston) flees her controlling husband and returns to her childhood Park Avenue apartment where she takes refuge with her mother Kit (Shaw).
Rediscovering the boy she loved – her grown doorman Andres (Spencer) – and the life she left as a teenager, Charlotte explores shared history, unshared truths and finds a way to face both love and loss.
Dellal will direct from a script that she has written together with Tina Alexis Allen.
Diana Phillips is producing the movie with Dorothy Berwin and Josh Blum serving as executive producers.
In a statement to Deadline, Dellal said: “‘Park Avenue’ is my love letter to the New York of the movies I grew up watching, a celebration of the unique character of a building, peopled by a melee of men and women who have known each other for decades and the loyal, old-fashioned doormen who guard them.”
Fiona starred as MI6 agent Carolyn Martens in the hit TV series ‘Killing Eve’ but is horrified at the suggestion that legendary spy James Bond should be played by a woman.
The 64-year-old actress told The Mail on Sunday newspaper: “That is not the point of James Bond. He is a person who was born out of a certain era. I don’t think equality means that everybody plays everything all the time.”
She added that if producers want to explore a female Bond, they should “make another thing called Jane Bond rather than simply recast James”.
