Natalie Cassidy and EastEnders cast taking part in BBC’s mental health season

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Cassidy will lead her ‘EastEnders’ cast mates in a conversation about mental health.
Throughout the month of May, the BBC has committed to “bringing audiences a breadth of content” focused on giving viewers “help and support to build resilience and look after their wellbeing”.
As part of that, the soap has filmed new content to be shared on social media with Natalie talking to other cast members about some of the mental health storylines ‘EastEnders’ has tackled.
Charlotte Moore, BBC Chief Content Officer, said: “The BBC has a long commitment to tackling mental health issues in our programming and with many people still living through challenging times, it’s important that we continue to raise awareness and provide help and support.”
Elsewhere, ‘Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction’ is coming to BBC One and iPlayer, while ‘Therapy: Tough Talking’ will air on BBC Three and iPlayer.
The latter fill see rapper, actor and writer Kema Key open up about his own struggles with mental health.
The synopsis reads: “A difficult and tragic childhood have contributed to his doctor’s prognosis that he could be suffering from depression in his adult life.
“Having been advised to try therapy, in this film, Kema bravely allows cameras inside his therapy sessions to follow his progress.”
There will also be dedicated films and discussion on the likes of ‘The One Show’ and ‘Countryfile’.
There will also be content across BBC Radio, BBC Sounds and more, with the programme supplementing the organisation’s online resource BBC Headroom, which was “launched in response to the mental health challenges faced by many during lockdown”.
The season is being backed by actor and presenter David Harewood, who previously fronted ‘Psychosis and Me’ and is set to appear on a short film on social media and the BBC Headman website.
He said: “Mental health problems are very common. When I was 23 I experienced a powerful and mind-bending psychotic episode which resulted in me being sectioned and hospitalised.
“It was a hugely traumatic experience, not just for me but also to friends and family who had to watch me go through it.
“With the help and support of those around me I made a full recovery, but that isn’t the same for everyone. Some people need lifelong support and understanding, and this is why I’m supporting the BBC’s Mental Health season.”

Anthony Ramos teases fan-favourite appearances in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

OHMYGOSSIP — Anthony Ramos is delighted that fan-favourite characters will feature in ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’.
The 31-year-old star plays the role of Noah Diaz in the upcoming sci-fi action movie and thinks that audiences will be impressed by the introduction of characters such as Mirage and Optimus Primal.
Anthony told Entertainment Weekly: “I was excited for the new characters to come to life and people to meet them, like Mirage and Rhinox and Cheetor and Optimus Primal.
“And Scourge being this new villain who I think is the biggest villain we’ve ever seen in any of these movies.”
The ‘In The Heights’ star added: “(And) now we can actually talk about Unicron. For the fans, like the people that really love ‘Transformers’, this means a lot to them – they’ve been wanting to see these characters, especially Unicron, for years.
“And then on top of that, you know, you got two kids from the hood, you know what I am saying? Running around, saving the world, travelling, going from Brooklyn to Peru.”
The movie was partly filmed at Machu Picchu and star Dominique Fishback reveals that the picture was blessed by a shaman before shooting at the historical landmark.
The 32-year-old actress said: “We had a shaman come in and bless the film. The shaman came – and butterflies remind me of my grandmother, and (afterwards) a butterfly stayed in the middle of set for 15 minutes. And then I got the butterfly to walk on my finger. We have videos.”

Neill Blomkamp embraced the challenge of Gran Turismo

OHMYGOSSIP — Neill Blomkamp was inspired by the “everyday realism” of ‘Gran Turismo’.
The 43-year-old director is helming the upcoming movie based on the PlayStation racing video game series and believes it is a different challenge to the kind of films he usually makes.
Speaking to Total Film magazine, Neill said: “The things that drew me to it were, I’m always doing science-fiction with a heavy amount of some kind of otherworldly, non-real worldbuilding.
“And so one of the things about (‘Gran Turismo’) was, this is a contemporary, real world, in a way that has this globetrotting, everyday realism about it that I felt, for some weird reason, massively creatively inspired by.
“So, like building real-world sets, and mimicking real-world things. Even just bringing the Tokyo headquarters of Nissan to life in Budapest. How do we create that? It’s an interesting, weird challenge I wouldn’t normally do.”
The movie – which stars Archie Madekwe, David Harbour and Orlando Bloom – is inspired by the true story of ‘Gran Turismo’ player Jann Mardenborough, whose skills won a series of video game competitions to become an actual professional racing driver and Blomkamp hopes his picture pleases fans of the gaming franchise.
The ‘District 9’ filmmaker said: “I was trying to think of a way to connect this kid who plays ‘Gran Turismo’ in his parents’ house who, in real life, ended up racing at Le Mans.
“I tried to bring some of the virtual ‘Gran Turismo’ simulated reality into reality, almost subjectively from his point of view. Like, this is how he remembers it, and how that overlays into the real world. That was one of the ideas that I wanted to inject into the script, and the way that we shoot it. It was like: how do we do that?”

Kym Marsh ‘splits from third husband Scott Ratcliff after 19 months of marriage’’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh has reportedly split from her third husband Scott Ratcliff.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress and former soldier Scott, 34, got married at a lavish ceremony in October 2021, but 19 months later they are said to have broken up following a trial separation, due to work apparently keeping them apart.
A source told The Sun: “They both really tried to make it work, but the cracks have been there for a while and they were only getting to see each other for one or two days a week at the very most.
“Kym’s been so busy, and last year (being on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’) meant even her weekends were stacked up along with weekdays rehearsing.
“More recently she’s been filming all over the place and rehearsing for a new theatre run.”
Adding about how Army Major Scott’s army work drove a wedge between him and Kym, the insider said: “Scott is based in barracks down south – he’s got a very busy career as well.
“Kym’s still a working mum, too, and lives up in Cheshire with her family. In the end it was the fact they lived so far away from each other that just made it impossible.”
The source said the pair “had a trial separation earlier this year” and were “hoping to get things back on track”, but added they have decided “it’s best to go their separate ways”.
They added: “It’s very sad for all involved, but they’ve decided it’s time to tell their family and friends and focus on the future – which means filing for divorce. They’re hoping to keep things as amicable as possible.
“Hopefully time will help to heal things.”
Kym’s first husband was former ‘EastEnders’ actor Jack Ryder, 41, who she married in 2002 but divorced seven years later.
In 2012 she married ‘Hollyoaks’ star Jamie Lomas, 48, but they divorced in 2014, and she met Scott in 2018.
Kym has children David, 28, and Emilie, 26, from an earlier relationship as well as daughter Polly, 12, with Jamie, with whom she also had son Archie in 2009, who died moments after he was born.

Peter Andre confesses why he didn’t sign up for I’m A Celebrity … South Africa

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Andre turned down the chance to star in ‘I’m A Celebrity … South Africa’ because he believes two jungle stints is enough for one lifetime.
The 44-year-old pop star first appeared on the ITV show back in 2004 and met his first wife Katie Price during filming before then returning to ‘IAC’ for a second turn in 2011 – and Peter says he just doesn’t have the desire to go back for a third try.
Speaking to Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden on their ‘Heart Breakfast’ radio show, Pete explained: “I loved it, but once you’ve done it … I went in twice so I have been in again when [current campmate] Fatima Whitbread was in it.”
Amanda then said: “[Former IAC star] Ashley [Roberts] said the same thing, she said she’d never go back,”and Pete responded by saying: “You experience things that are amazing, but I don’t think I could go back.”
When asked his thoughts on the ‘I’m A Celebrity … South Africa’ line-up, he said of the all-star show: “I haven’t seen it, but I think it’s a great line-up. They’ve got some good people on there.”
The show has been transferred from Australia to South Africa and features a crop of previous ‘IAC’ stars including Carol Vorderman, Helen Flanagan, Joe Swash and Amir Khan.
It was pre-recorded last year in a move away from the tradition live format meaning viewers have been unable to participate by voting for who takes on tasks or choose who they want to win.
The show is due to run for another week and the grand final will air on ITV on Friday May 12.

Joe Swash up for EastEnders return but hasn’t been asked back in 12 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Swash hasn’t “once” been asked to return to ‘EastEnders’ since he left the show 12 years ago.
The 41-year-old actor portrayed Mickey Miller in the BBC One soap from 2003 to 2008 and then for two episodes in September 2011, but now he would like to return to Albert Square, despite bosses not asking him back.
When asked by Carol Vorderman on tonight’s (05.05.23) ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ about whether he would want to head back to Walford, he said: “I wouldn’t mind it.
“You know exactly what you’re doing, when you’re doing it, how you’re doing it.
“But they’ve never asked me mate, not once.”
But Joe admits he had the “worst” exit ever, and he didn’t ever have to act out one of the famous “doof doof” ending scenes in his five years on the soap.
He added: “I had the worst outro ever! I didn’t even leave at the end of the episode.
“So usually you leave at the end of the episode and you get the ‘doof doof’.
“Mine, I went to Norwich to be a bell boy at a hotel and mid scene I just walked into the Vic and went, ‘Right, see you later’.
“They turned back to Phil, turned back to me and I’d gone.
“I was like ‘What, that’s it?’ I was there five years and not one doof doof!”
Joe later reiterated that none of the ‘EastEnders’ bosses have asked him to reprise his role as Mickey since he departed the show.
He says in the Bush Telegraph: “People think I can phone up ‘EastEnders’ and go, ‘I’m ready to come back now guys.’
“They have not phoned me. Let me make this clear … ‘EastEnders’ have never phoned me to get me back on the show.”

Jennifer Lopez wishes she’d landed more action roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez wishes she’d landed more action roles when she was younger.
The 53-year-old singer/actress has spent many years making rom-coms but she mixed things up with her latest projects ‘Shotgun Wedding’ – in which she took on more action sequences – and ‘The Mother’ in which she plays a former assassin who comes out of hiding to protect her daughter – and Jennifer says she enjoys the thrill of playing a tough character onscreen.
During an appearance on ‘The View’. Jennifer explained: “‘[The Mother] was a lot of fun [and also] a lot of work …
{I wish I had gotten] these types of roles that I’m getting now, funnily enough, when I was a little bit more, you know, spry. But a little bit, you know, younger … [They are] kind of empowering, and it makes me feel strong and good. And it was great.”
She went on to explain movies bosses decided to carefully plan out the fight scenes for ‘The Mother’ so Jennifer could use her time more efficiently.
The star added: “We have to be efficient. I can’t be fighting eight hours a day. After like an hour, I’m like, OK. So they had to be real efficient and they choreographed it almost like a dance, which is good for me since I’m a dancer.”
During the interview, Jennifer also opened up about her marriage to fellow film star Ben Affleck, revealing he’s a brilliant dad to her twins from her marriage to Marc Anthony.
She said: “He is honestly the best dad I’ve ever seen. He’s so involved. He teaches me about how to kind of interact with the kids sometimes.
“He’s just so in tune. He’s such a brilliant guy anyway, like he’s so learned in so many things, and you could just tell when he had his kids, he must have read every book and everything that you could possibly learn about children, and he applies it. He’s present, and that’s all you can ask for is a present, loving dad who cares and shows up every single day, and that’s who he is.”

In November, Olivia insisted marriage and children with Tristan were “on the cards”.
She told MailOnline at the time: “I’d love a ring on my finger. We do speak about it. I don’t know if I’m in a rush to have kids yet. I do want them, but probably not in the next year. But I mean, I’d love to get engaged.

“He just needs things from his … like he’s trying to move all his tinfoil and his cling film. And I was like, ‘We don’t need that!’ Lots of strange things.
“But then he does hold onto very sweet things. Like if I’ve ever written him a little note. He’ll hold on to it.”

Joe Swash wakes himself up with own parp on I’m A Celebrity South Africa

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Swash woke himself up with his own fart on ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor admits in Friday night’s (05.05.23) episode that the rice and beans diet hasn’t been good for his wind, so much so one bottom burp eruption even woke him from his slumber.
Loudly farting on tonight’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’, Joe says: “They make me very windy. I’m doing a lot of farting.
“I woke myself up with my own fart.”
Joe’s campmate Fatima Whitbread then jokingly walks over and farts near him, and makes a quip about her parp being particularly powerful because of her Olympics background.
Soap star Joe then says: “It came out with some velocity … it was definitely a more powerful fart than I’ve ever done myself.”
Former javelin thrower Fatima jokes her name could be “Fart-ima”.
Joe adds: “Because I love her so much, I quite appreciated it.”
But it will be no laughing matter for Joe later in the episode as he and his fellow former ‘EastEnders’ co-star Dean Gaffney, who are Pride leaders, are tasked with making a huge decision.
Joe and Dean need to each pick a pair from their Pride to go head-to-head in a trial – but the losing pair will leave the show.
Ant explains: “You’re each going to pick two members of your Pride to go head-to-head in a trial. You can’t pick yourselves.
“The winners will get a final picnic at the waterfall. It comes with celebratory bubbles.
“That’s the good news. The bad news, unlike the first two Trials, this time the losing pair will leave camp forever.”
Joe wails: “Oh, no!”
‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ airs weeknights at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX, and on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player in Ireland.

Paul O’Grady did his ‘last bit of filming’ for Eurovision, says producer pal

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul O’Grady’s “last bit of filming” was for the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’.
The late ‘For The Love of Dogs’ star – who passed away “unexpectedly and peacefully” in March aged 67 following a sudden cardiac arrhythmia – “wasn’t a fan” of the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’, according to Malcolm Prince, a producer and pal of the late broadcaster, but his final TV gig was to celebrate the competition being hosted in Liverpool.
Malcolm tweeted: “There will be a brief clip of Paul in the opening titles of the Eurovision programme at 8.00 p.m. on Tues 9th May on BBC One…
“Paul wasn’t a fan of Eurovision as I am sure you all know, but it turned out to be the last bit of filming he did. (sic)”
The late comedian – who was born and raised in the Merseyside town of Birkenhead – was laid to rest last month after his husband Andre Portasio shared the news of his tragic passing.
He said: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.
“We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.
“He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.
“I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”
Liverpool is hosting this year’s ‘Eurovision’ because last year’s winners Ukraine were deemed unable to host the show due to the country still dealing with the Russian military invasion.

King Charles ‘baffled’ by Jack P Shepherd on Coronation Street set

OHMYGOSSIP — King Charles was once “baffled” about who Jack P. Shepherd was during a visit to the ‘Coronation Street’ set.

“I was like, ‘My mum is about,’ but he was like, ‘Yes, but what do they do here?’
“He thought I was a friend of the family or something.

He added: “I remember asking her if she ever watched the Street and she said, ‘At 7.30pm on a Monday and a Wednesday, the phone is off the hook.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Atack, Claire Foy, and Kevin Clifton are among the stars who will appear in a new series of ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ this summer.
The BBC One show – which follows nine celebrities on extremely personal journeys as they each delve into unknown family ancestry and unearth startling facts and truths about their heritage – returns from early June.
