Rylan Clark says ‘tide is turning’ for two faced stars

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark has insisted the “tide is turning” for two-faced TV stars.
The 34-year-old presenter – who appears on BBC Radio 2 and sometimes appears on ‘This Morning’ – didn’t give any names but said viewers can “see through” anyone they perceive to be fake.
Speaking to Waitrose and Partners Weekend magazine, he said: “People can see through it all now.
“People can see who are the real ones and can very much see who isn’t.”
He noted he has always tried to be nice to people during time on television, which he claims is “starting to pay off”.
He added: “I’ve been in this industry for nearly 11 years, and all I’ve ever been is nice and polite to people.
“And that’s starting to pay off for me now, because there are people in this industry who aren’t like that.
“They think they’re something special. And the walls are starting to fall.”
Rylan recently admitted he will be on his “best behaviour” for the Eurovision Song Contest – which is currently taking place in Liverpool leading to this weekend’s grand final – after previously enjoying flirting with the locals last year in Italy.
Admitting that there’s more chance of him being recognised in Liverpool, he told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “I can’t go s******* it about – I’ve got to be on my best behaviour. I’ll be pining for the nights out I usually have. But I’ll still go out.”
He pulled out of covering the annual competition for the BBC in 2021 because he was so devastated after his split from Dan Neal.
However, flying out to Italy in 2022 was exactly what he needed to feel back to himself again.
He added: “Last year I needed to get away from the UK and the Eurovision bubble was perfect for that.
“It was what I needed on a personal level. Being there was a full circle moment for me. It was like, ‘I’m back, I’m ready to go’.
“That’s why Eurovision is so important to me. If you cut me open, it’s there.”

Stephen Tompkinson denies punching drunk man outside his home

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Tompkinson has denied punching a drunk man outside his home.
The 57-year-old actor – who starred in ITV drama ‘DCI Banks’ from 2010 to 2016 – has been accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on Karl Poole, 48, in May, 2021.
He told Newcastle Crown Court: “It would have been career suicide to do something as outrageous as an assault.”
He also added: “There is no evidence of a punch.”
Tompkinson has been accused of punching Mr Poole in an altercation with the man and his friend Andrew Hall – who were both “falling about drunk” – outside the actor’s home at 5.30am on May 30.
He previously told officers he took a bottle of Jagermeister from them and wanted them to be “moved on” because they were causing a disturbance outside his home.
This week, he told the court that Mr Hall told him he was a “f****** social worker”.
He continued: “He was a social worker guilty of anti-social behaviour. It was pure self-indulgence from them, both grown-up men who should have been behaving better.”
Mr Poole fell and hit his head, causing “traumatic brain injuries”, and last week neighbour Caroline Davidson gave evidence that Tompkinson hit the man with a “slap, then a punch”.
The actor has now said: “I did not apply any excessive force that would have caused any sober person to fall over.
“There was no left punch from me, nor were there any corresponding injuries on Karl’s face.
“There is no evidence of a punch because one never took place. His head injury had nothing to do with me. I am not responsible for Karl’s double skull fracture.”
When he was questioned by police, Tompkinson had claimed he put his hand on Mr Hall’s right cheek “just to halt him”, and pushed Mr Poole away with his right hand.
He claimed a bruise on his left hand was the result of “putting a fitness bag together” a few days earlier.
Tompkinson – who noted he is “not working at the moment” – told the court that he has missed out on parts while waiting two years for the case to come to court.
He added that is late father told him his role in 1990s drama ‘Ballykissangel’ meant he had been “invited into the living rooms” of fans across the country.
He said: “Any member of the public is potentially a member of your audience, you have to show respect at all times. I have always tried to do that.”

Rihanna ‘had to use gross communal toilet’ at BBC Radio 1

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna had “to use a really gross communal toilet” at BBC Radio 1.
Nick Grimshaw and Scott Mills – who used to both work at the youth-centric station – revealed the ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker would most definitely have had to powder her nose in “minging” facilities as a guest on one of the programmes.
Nick, 38, said on his podcast ‘Dish’ that he co-hosts with celebrity chef Angela Hartnett: “Rihanna would’ve had to use this horrible minging bog. It was just quite funny like a pop star in a pop star outfit, having to use a really gross communal toilet.”
Scott – who appeared as a guest on the show – also gave insight into other weird aspects of their former workplace, claiming it was falling apart and actually shared studios with adult channel Babestation.
The 50-year-old presenter added: “The door handle would come off. You would have to get out through a window, which would then lead you on to like a New York stairwell outside, where they also did Babestation – sometimes they’d be out on the staircase.”
According to the pair, the bosses “inexplicably had a cage around them” and Nick had to guide Britney Spears around the strange area while Scott spilled that he once found the ‘Womanizer’ pop princess have a nap in the smoking room.
Meanwhile, Scott admitted that when he left BBC Radio 1 for his new show on BBC Radio 2 last August, the tributes made him feel like he was “dead”.
He said: “They put a picture of me in black and white with ‘1998-2022’. I’m not dead.”
He insisted his new slot is a great fit because he doesn’t have to label his favourite songs as a “guilty pleasure”.

Pedro Pascal cast in Weapons

OHMYGOSSIP — Pedro Pascal is to star in ‘Weapons’.
The 48-year-old actor has joined the cast of the movie that is being directed by Zach Cregger – the actor turned filmmaker behind the surprise horror hit ‘Barbarian’.
Plot details are yet to be revealed but the new film is described as a multistory horror epic in the vein of ‘Magnolia’, the 1999 Paul Thomas Anderson movie that featured Tom Cruise, Melinda Dillon and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Character information for Pascal has not been disclosed but film chiefs are aiming for an autumn shoot.
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Pedro was in final negotiations to appear in the ‘Gladiator’ sequel.
The ‘Last of Us’ star is expected to star alongside the likes of Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn and Denzel Washington in the long-awaited follow-up to Sir Ridley Scott’s historical epic.
Sources told Deadline that the actor is final talks about joining the cast but it is not known who he will be playing in the movie.
Russell Crowe has ruled out returning as main ‘Gladiator’ character Maximus Decimus Meridius in the new project – which is due to be released in 2024 – and explained that it won’t be a “direct sequel” to the Oscar-winning original.
Speaking on the ‘Fitzy and Wippa Podcast’, Crowe said: “Yeah we’ve had dinner and talked about it and all that stuff. So I know roughly how he’s shaping the story.
“But yeah, if you remember, there was a young kid who wanted to beat the Gladiator, which leads to the ‘My name is’ speech. So that young kid has grown up, and he’s now the Emperor.
“I don’t know what else happens at that point, so that’s the idea. So it’s not a remake. And it’s not a direct sequel. It’s not like the day after, you know, 30 years later or something.”

David Walliams would love to work with John Cleese on Fawlty Towers

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams would love to work with John Cleese on ‘Fawlty Towers’.
The ex ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge is keen to get cast in the reboot of the much-loved ’70s sitcom about the hilarious trials and tribulations of a hapless hotelier on the Devon coast, and he insisted the ‘Monty Python’ icon “can do no wrong”.
The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column quotes the 51-year-old funnyman as saying: “To my mind the man can do no wrong, so if he wants to revive Basil Fawlty, then let him do it, and I would work with him in a heartbeat.”
David admitted that if he made ‘Little Britain’ – the sketch show he co-created with Matt Lucas, 49 – nowadays it would have to be done “differently”, but he still adores shows and films that are more edgy with their humour.
He said: “You could do Little Britain now, but you could do it differently. My son’s into a lot of comedy films like ‘Anchorman’, ‘Borat’, ‘Austin Powers’. God, I love these, I laugh my head off at all of them.
“I look at all those things. I’m not sure you could do them, but you’d get criticism for it.”
The news of the ‘Fawlty Towers’ revival was confirmed back in February with John working in collaboration with his daughter Camilla Cleese, Rob Reiner and his Castle Rock production company.
The series – which follows the original 12 episodes that first aired between 1975 and 1979 – will “explore how Cleese’s over-the-top, cynical and misanthropic Basil Fawlty navigates the modern world”.
John – who has railed against the so-called “cancel culture” ruling the BBC and signed on be a presenter at GB News – previously explained how the idea came together.
He said: “My daughter and I have been writing together for 16 years – which people don’t know – and she met a guy and they chatted briefly and we were all in Las Vegas together because I was doing a show with her and we had dinner and we suddenly realised that if we do a sequel, first of all it’s interesting.
“Secondly, it doesn’t rely upon Manuel – dear Andy Sachs who’s not with us anymore, and Prue Scales who has difficulty remembering stuff – and certainly almost everyone else is dead.”

Melissa Barrera to play lead role in The One

OHMYGOSSIP — Melissa Barrera will lead the cast of ‘The One’.
The 32-year-old star has boarded the movie described as an “erotic nightmare” set within the confines of a reality dating show from writer-director duo Kevin Armento and Jaki Bradley.
Nicolas Hoult and Lana Condor have also been cast in the film that is being produced by Riley Keough – the actress granddaughter of music legend Elvis Presley.
Hoult also serves as a producer alongside Whitaker Lader for their Dead Duck Films company.
‘The One’ tells the story of Taylor (Barrera), who makes a last-ditch effort to find romance by becoming a contestant on a reality dating show.
Down to just herself and two other women competing to win Mason’s (Hoult) heart, Taylor begins to feel that the game becomes terrifyingly real.
Amid the beachfront setting and constant flow of champagne, pursuit turns into obsession and rivalry becomes treachery.
Armento and Bradley said: “We’ve been dreaming up this project for years, and are thrilled to now bring it to life with our actual dream team.
“Nick, Melissa, Riley, and Lana are some of the most exciting talents around, and their passion for this film – shared by our incredible producing – has us even more eager to make this nightmare a reality.”
Hoult and Lader added: “We were immediately drawn to this project that we think will be equally appealing to the reality TV junkies and those who think it is a scourge on humanity.
“Jaki and Kevin’s script and vision promise a wild and deliciously dark film that will make audiences cringe, laugh, and question their own complicity.”

Kellie Bright teases tough times for Linda Carter and Sharon Watts

OHMYGOSSIP — Kellie Bright admits Linda Carter’s friendship with Sharon Watts is at risk.
The ‘EastEnders’ actress – who plays Kellie on the BBC show – has teased the impact of her soap alter ego’s decision to sell the Queen Vic behind the back of Letitia Dean’s character, choosing to instead turn to mum Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) for help with the deal.
With Sharon poised to discover Linda’s betrayal, Kellie said: “The problem is that Elaine turned up unannounced and walked into the middle of Linda trying to make peace with Sharon, which made the whole situation 10 times worse.
“The problem is that Elaine turned up unannounced and walked into the middle of Linda trying to make peace with Sharon, which made the whole situation ten times worse.”
It means Linda and Sharon will be at odds amid the fallout, while Kellie admitted her character has her reasons for turning to her own flesh and blood.
She added: “You can fall out with your mum, but you know she will forgive you a lot, and you’ll forgive her.
“Also, Linda has lived and worked with her mum for years previous to this, so she knows what Elaine is like and that she’ll have to let certain things go.”
Meanwhile, both Sharon and Linda are involved in the BBC soap’s upcoming flash forward sequence confirming a dramatic death is on the way this Christmas.
Back in February, the female-led episode featured scenes looking ahead to the future as Linda walked into the Vic to find a dead body on the ground.
Sharon – sporting a wedding dress – went to check the mystery person’s pulse only to confirm their death, while Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) were seen staring in horror and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) literally had blood on her hands while Denise Fox (Diane Parish) was seen holding a broken bottle.

Carol Vorderman swore at a nun when she was at school

OHMYGOSSIP — Carol Vorderman once “told a nun to f*** off”.
The 62-year-old star admitted she was “naughty” at school and by her mid-teens she was already going out clubbing in Manchester.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’, she told campmates Myleene Klass: “Never did my homework. Seriously! Half an hour at the back of the bus, it was all too easy.
“I was always being told off. I told a nun to f*** off once, she was horrible. I was a naughty girl.
“I was in nightclubs in Manchester at 15 with the bad boys. Loved it.”
Meanwhile, she and Myleene have also chatted about their appearances, and the decision to ditch their bathroom scales.
The former ‘Countdown’ star insisted: “I only go on dress size.”
She admitted she threw her scales out “in 1999”, adding: “I’ve not known [my weight] this century.”
Myleene revealed: “The second I had daughters, I threw out the scales. No way, I’m not going to have them ruled by numbers. Those numbers.”
She also argued that it’s not right to put a focus on children’s weight as a way to measure their “value”.
She said: “Why would you let your children measure themselves, their value, their contribution by numbers on a scale? I was like, ‘No, get rid, I don’t want it in the house.’ ”
Myleene – who has daughters Ava, 15, and Hero, 12, with ex-husband Graham Quinn and three-year-old son Apollo with fiance Simon Motson – insisted “body positivity is so important”.
She added: “I want my girls to be empowered by what their abilities are and what they have to say for themselves and how they think.
“I want that to be celebrated, not skin and glands and fat. We all have it.”

Beverley Callard is helping fans tackle mental health issues

OHMYGOSSIP — Beverley Callard is taking on a new role in helping her fans tackle mental health issues.
The ex ‘Coronation Street’ star has teamed up with a mental health professional to provide mental health advice to social media followers as she knows how “important” it is to discuss internal struggles.
The 66-year-old actress said via an online question and answering session with fans on Instagram: “As I mentioned last week, I wanted to introduce you to Sharon.
“We’d love to answer any questions you have on mental health – some have been sent in already but we’d love to hear from you.
“It’s so so so important to keep talking, we are here.”
Beverly has admitted she suffers from “very low esteem” despite being in the limelight a lot.
She said: “People don’t believe this because I’m an actress, but I have very low self-esteem. I can’t watch myself and it’s not false modesty. I have to build myself up to red-carpet dos and things like that, which I loathe.”
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ star spilled how “busy” she and her husband Jon McEwan have been with relocating their lives to Norfolk.
Beverley explained: “You might have thought that I’ve been quiet (or maybe not!), but we have been very busy moving to Norfolk.
“We are absolutely loving our new home, and we wake up to this gorgeous view every day.”
The Corrie legend previously reflected on how much she “loved playing” the Rovers Return landlady Liz McDonald on and off since the 80s but confessed her “time is done” on the cobbles.
Beverley said: “Oh, I loved playing her. But the cast is so big now and the scenes much shorter. I loved the days where the busier you were, the better it was, even though you were knackered because you made so many episodes every week.
“I knew Liz inside out and back to front, and I just wanted the challenge of playing something completely different. I will not go back.
“I feel as though my world has opened up. I’ve not fallen out of love with it but my time there is done.”

Sam Thompson wants to ‘really study’ Love Island host Maya Jama

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Thompson wants to “really study” ‘Love Island’ Maya Jama.
The 30-year-old star admitted he is keen to mirror the career of the 28-year-old television presenter so he loves getting to see her work at “a close angle” as he enthused about the return of the ITV2 dating competition reality show this summer, which will see him getting to front the ‘Love Island: The Morning After’ post with his “partner in crime” and former Islander Indiyah Polack.
The 30-year-old reality television personality told RadioTimes.com: “I cannot wait! Summer’s coming! That’s all I think that I can think about. I just can’t wait, if we get invited back. I can’t wait to see Indiyah again and just vibe with her because she’s just like my partner in crime.
“And just be able to watch Maya Jama do her work every Sunday on ‘Aftersun’ because I want to do what she wants to do. Well what she does.
“So being able to look and watch from such a close angle just across the table from her and really study her – not in a creepy way – but it’s really amazing!”
He would also love to see the return of 2017 contestant Chris Hughes, 30, and he praised producers managing to get Adam Collard, 27, back in the villa despite the star’s history with Sam’s partner Zara McDermott, 26, on the show.
He said: “I thought Adam Collard was a brilliant f****** bring back. It was the icing on the cake. Although he let me down a little bit because I wanted him to be a little bit more Adam Collardy!
“Who would I bring back? Someone who was just magical! It’d be really fun to bring back like a Chris Hughes. I think that would be awesome!”

Robert Rodriguez maintains hope for Alita: Battle Angel sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Rodriguez maintains hope that an ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ sequel will be made.
The 54-year-old filmmaker directed the 2019 cyberpunk action movie and is optimistic that the story could be continued as projects now seem to be moving forward again following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in the same year.
Quizzed by Collider on any developments, Robert said: “I mean, movement other than us talking about it?
“You know, I just wasn’t sure it was ever gonna happen because even when the first movie came out, Disney had just bought Fox, so even our marketing people, everybody, were gone by the time that movie came out. And then there wasn’t any Fox movies being made for years because Disney was still busy making their own Disney stuff.
“But now I’ve seen some Fox movies come out, so that gave me hope.”
The ‘Spy Kids’ director added: “And then when Jon (Landau, producer) mentioned that, and then (James Cameron) and I have been talking that we always wanted to do an ‘Alita’ sequel.
“He outlined, very thoroughly, a second and a third film, so there’s already material there. So yeah, we’re hoping that that will happen. But nothing more definitive than that.”
Christoph Waltz starred in the film as cyborg scientist Dr. Dyson Ido and previously stated that he was “disappointed” that a sequel has not come to fruition.
Asked if he would be interested in another movie, the Oscar-winning star told Collider: “Of course! Of course I would! But, you know, I’m as wise as you are. I haven’t heard anything and I’m a little disappointed and surprised that I haven’t heard a thing so far, because I know that it has followers. I know that people liked it and aside from what others said, I loved it and I liked working on it and I liked the result.”

Cillian Murphy reflects on Oppenheimer casting joy

OHMYGOSSIP — Cillian Murphy says that being cast in ‘Oppenheimer’ was “one of the best days” of his life.
The 46-year-old actor is to star as J. Robert Oppenheimer – the ‘father of the atomic bomb’ – in the upcoming film and was ecstatic that director Christopher Nolan trusted him to play the lead role in the flick.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Cillian said: “It was one of the best days of my life, I’ll tell you that, when you called me.
“I’ll always turn up for Chris, no matter what the part is, but, secretly, it’s a dream to play the lead part. The thing was, I had no idea. There was no preamble or anything, I just got the call. So it was incredibly exciting, and daunting, and terrifying, all at the same time.”
Christopher also has fond memories of breaking the news to the ‘Peaky Blinders’ star that he would be leading the project.
The ‘Inception’ director recalled: “No one knew what I was up to, no one knew what I was doing.
“To be able to pick up the phone, and call you, and be like, ‘This is the one where you carry the movie and really get to show what you can do,’ it’s honestly one of my favourite moments in the movie business, when I had that conversation with you.”
Cillian heads an all-star cast that includes Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Florence Pugh and explained how he had to “raise his game” on a daily basis to work with his contemporaries on set.
He said: “Every day, you had these phenomenal actors, who are heroes of mine, coming in. Every day, you were having to raise your game to work with these legends.
“Everybody was so unbelievably well-prepared. Every single actor, no matter what size their role or the significance of their character in history, each one of them had this massive depth of knowledge that they could draw on.”

Blade delayed due to writers’ strike

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Blade’ reboot has been delayed due to the Hollywood writers’ strike.
Mahershala Ali had been due to take on the role of the vampire hunter previously played by Wesley Snipes in a new big screen version of the Marvel Comics creation with production expected to start in Atlanta, Georgia the coming weeks but reports suggest the film has now been shelved temporarily because of the ongoing walk-out by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) union.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms the movie will get back on track as soon as the strike is concluded. ‘Blade’ had been scheduled for a 2024 release but it’s not yet known whether the delay will have an impact on the planned cinema release.
A source involved with Marvel projects told the publication: “There’s a billion dollars net in production costs that are exposed because of the strike. That’s certainly a concern.”
‘Blade’ was previously pushed back from a planned 2023 release after original director Bassam Tariq exited the project just two months before filming had been due to start.
Yann Demange took over helping duties and ‘True Detective’ creator Nic Pizzolatto was brought in to work on the script, but ran out of time to complete the project before the start of the WGA walk-out – meaning production has to stop for the time being.
The strike began on Tuesday (02.05.23) and has affected late night talks shows including ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ and ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ which have all been taken off-air with re-runs playing instead.
Sketch show ‘Saturday Night Live’ is also off-air while TV drama ‘Billions’ was forced to halt production on Thursday (04.05.23).

Rita Moreno reveals how her grandson helped her land Fast X role

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Moreno has revealed her grandson told Vin Diesel to cast her in ‘Fast X’.
The 91-year-old big screen legend – who was the first Latin actress to win an Oscar for her performance as Anita in 1961’s ‘West Side Story’ – has joined the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise after first meeting Vin at a Hollywood event “a number of years ago”.
Speaking to Total Film magazine, she recalled: “He let me know that he was an admirer of my work and I was flattered. I stayed in touch with him.
“I thought of inviting him to the premiere of our new ‘West Side Story’ and happily he said yes. We got together afterwards and had drinks.
“My grandson Justin, who is an enormous fan of his, collared Vin and said, ‘You really should have my grandmother in the movie. She should be the kind of feisty old woman that grabs you by the nose and tells you off.’
“Justin, to this day, is absolutely convinced that he cast me.”
Moreno described her character in the film as “truly the boss’ boss”.
She added: “She really is those kinds of things. That’s why I love doing the character – she’s truly the boss’ boss. But she would never do something like Justin described.”
Meanwhile, Moreno reflected on her return to ‘West Side Story’ to play Valentina in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 remake.
Asked if the movie holds a special place in her heart, she said: “Oh my gosh, both of them for very different reasons.
“The first one because it got me world fame. I have two awards that are very precious to me – the Golden Globe and, of course, the Oscar. Who could ask for more?
“I never dreamed that I would end up in that film – I tested for it along with, I imagine, every brunette and dark-eyed actor in California.
“And then to end up so many years later in the new version with my most favourite director… I’ve always loved Steven. he is so versatile.”

‘Big f****** mistake!’ Christina Applegate turned down THIS Reese Witherspoon role

OHMYGOSSIP — Christina Applegate turned down the role of Elle Woods in ‘Legally Blonde”.
The 51-year-old actress had not long finished playing Kelly Bundy in the long-running sitcom ‘Married… with Children’ when she was approached to play the sorority girl-turned-lawyer in the now-classic comedy and joked that saying no to the part was a “big f****** mistake” because she is now not as wealthy as the movie’s eventual star Reese Witherspoon, who has a reported net worth of $400 million.
She told Variety: “I wouldn’t toy with the idea of ‘Legally Blonde’ because it felt too fresh getting out of ‘Married…With Children’. It was very similar on paper. I started to read it and I remember calling them and going, ‘Oh, it’s too similar. Can’t do it.’ Um, big f****** mistake. I’d have Witherspoon money! No, just kidding!”
However, the ‘Vacation’ star did go on to note that she “cannot imagine” anyone other than Reese playing the role of Elle Woods in the 2001 movie – which also stars ‘The White Lotus’ actress Jennifer Coolidge as manicurist Paulette Bonafonte and was adapted into a Broadway musical in 2007 – and admitted that she would have “completely screwed up” had she been given the part.
She added: “You can’t imagine anyone playing Elle Woods other than Reese Witherspoon. I would have completely screwed it up.”
Meanwhile, Christina has long since been rumoured to have been considered for the part of Rose DeWitt Bukater in James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster ‘Titanic’ – in which she would have starred opposite Leonardo DiCaprio – but when asked directly about the possibility that she could have played the role that eventually went to Kate Winslet, she quashed the rumours immediately.
She said: “No. Who said that?!”

Chris Pratt reveals ‘toughest’ moment of filming Guardians of the Galaxy

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Pratt has struggled to think of his “toughest moment” on the set of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.'”
The 43-year-old actor plays Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series and upoon the release of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ has admitted that it would be hard to pick just one scene he has filmed where the advice of director James Gunn has helped him get through it.
He told Collider: “Oh my gosh, truly, it’d be hard to zero in on any one. I guess what would come to the top of my head, early on, a lot more probably in Vol. 1 and then also in Vol. 2, we developed a shorthand over the course of working together all these years. In Vol. 1 I remember there was a note. [Laughs] I tell people this and they think it makes you sound like a real dick, but it’s actually an amazing thing, so I’m gonna tell it because I love an opportunity to make you look like a d***. There was a scene where my character is saying, ‘Blue Swede, Hooked on a Feeling, that song belongs to me,’ and it was important for it to be — in hindsight, now looking at it, I know what James was trying to get out of me. And he got it out of me I think, which was this really strong, energetic, loud, emotional plea to not lose this song. I was having a hard time getting there as an actor and also I couldn’t justify why I would say it in a way that was the way he wanted it.
“It was hard for me to see the forest through the trees. He had an eye on the forest and I was looking at the tree and I’m like, ‘This doesn’t feel like the right tree.’ But I kept saying, ‘You know what I feel? Here’s what I feel. I feel this.’ And he goes, ‘It doesn’t matter what you feel. It doesn’t matter what you feel. Okay? It matters what I think.’ And I go, ‘Oh, okay.’ [Laughs] ”
The ‘Jennifer’s Body’ star went on to add that moviemaker James had to remind him what he “felt” at that moment did not matter and ending up thanking for his tough nature as he learned to “trust” him in that moment.
He added: “And At that moment — it obviously does matter what an actor feels, but the North Star is his vision, and his vision for that was just something that I couldn’t see at the time. And then in seeing the movie, I was like, ‘Oh, that’s what he was looking to do,’ and it took me a while to get there. It was embarrassing to get there, and I thought that when I did that take in the moment, it was almost like an, ‘F you. I’ll give you exactly what you asked for,’ and then he put it in and I was like, ‘Oh, that was really great. That’s exactly what he wanted.’ So I really learned, especially in that moment, trust him.
