Georgia Toffolo is glad she showed off her acne on I’m A Celebrity South Africa

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia Toffolo is glad she didn’t hide her acne on ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’.
The former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star – who goes by her nickname ‘Toff’ and was crowned Queen of the Jungle in 2017 – detailed how found it “really important” to go makeup-free when she returned for the all-star edition of the ITV1 reality show alongside fellow campers like ‘Coronation Street’ star Helen Flanagan, telly presenter Myleene Klass and retired cricketer Phil Tufnell.
After leaving the camp, the 28-year-old star said: “Part of me kept on thinking: ‘I really want my concealer’. I’m not totally myself when I haven’t got my war paint on. But I’ve been suffering with it for 15 years, and it was really important to me that I didn’t hide behind my concealer.
“So many people struggle with it like I do. And I wanted people to see that a) that’s normal and b) that even if you’ve got every single privilege in life that I do, you can still have it. It doesn’t matter how well off you are or if you’re a celebrity.”
As she departed the programme – which is hosted by Ant and Dec – Toff called returning to the show “glorious” as she finds so much “contentment” living such a stripped-back life.
She added: “It was glorious. Every time I go into that camp I transform into this little warrior. I don’t mind smelling or the lack of food. I just find such contentment in there.’”
The ‘This Morning’ contributor was eliminated from the show alongside ‘Corrie’ icon Andy Whyment, who confessed his second stint was “much tougher” than his original 2019 run in Australia after clashes with supermodel Janice Dickinson.
The 42-year-old soap star said: “I wasn’t in the winning team, ever. I was on rice and beans, so it was really tough.
“I was working my a*** off. I was tired, not eating a lot. It does take it out of you. The days felt so much longer in South Africa. Plus Ant and Dec kept popping into camp to drop bombshells. I found it much tougher than Australia but still really enjoyed it.”

EastEnders will hold a ‘big celebration’ for Lola Pearce’s life

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ will hold a “big celebration” for Lola Pearce following the character’s tragic death.
The BBC One soap will throw ‘Lola Fest’ as the residents of Albert Square “come together” to celebrate the life of the character played by Danielle Harold with a sense of fun after her funeral following her death due to a brain tumour, and the wake will be complete with a stage, yummy refreshments, and a load of colourful tents and gazebos.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s BizTV column: “As photos have already shown, Lola’s funeral will be a flower-strewn affair, with colourful blooms as Walford’s residents show their love for their tragic friend.
“But the wake will be a big celebration of the way Lola lived her life with music and laughter.
“The whole Square will come together to share stories, and it will make for a really touching episode.”
Danielle – who has played the hairdresser and mother to Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) on and off since 2011 – called the tragic plotline a “hard one” to bring to life as she came to comprehend the real-life tragedy the disease brings to lots of people and the lack of research funding.
The 30-year-old actress said: “Lola’s story has been a very hard one to tell and one that sadly affects so many people.
“Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet historically only one per cent of research is allocated to this devastating disease.
“I would like to take a moment for everybody that has reached out to me and shared their experiences with me, I have read every message and hold all of your messages close to my heart whilst playing this story.
“I have been blessed to meet the most incredible people and work with some wonderful charities along the way and I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for all your support, advice and love.”

Demon Headmaster star Terrence Hardiman dies aged 86

OHMYGOSSIP — Terrence Hardiman has died aged 86.
The actor – who is best known for his lead role in CBBC children’s show ‘The Demon Headmaster’ – has passed away this week.
His death was announced today (09.05.23) “with great sadness” by his agency Scott Marshall Partners.
They praised him as a “beloved client and much-loved stage and screen actor”.
The actor left a generation of children terrified with his chilling performance in ‘The Demon Headmaster’, which was based on Gillian Cross’ books of the same name.
The character was known for his piercing green eyes kept hidden behind dark glasses, which were only removed when he hypnotised his victims.
Hardiman played the titular role across three seasons between 1996 and 1998, and later reprised the role with a cameo appearance in the 2019 reboot.
Previously speaking about the impact of the show, he said: “I started to be recognised in the street, especially as I lived near schools around here, in North-West London.
“And there were people – youngsters – looking at me, and shouting out at me, and making fun of me, which is very healthy. It stopped me being too grand!
“But then the slightly more remarkable thing, I found, was that it wasn’t just children who were watching. It was parents and other people, too.”
He appeared in the likes of ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Wallander’ and ‘The Crown’, having played Doctor Evans in the second season of the show.
He also starred as former prime minister Ramsay Macdonald in 1982’s ‘Gandi’, and had a great reputation as a stage actor, having become a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in the 1970s.
Throughout his career, Hardiman also appeared in shows like ‘Bergerac’, ‘Minder’, ‘Crown Court’ and ‘Secret Army’.
In one of his final roles, he joined ‘Holby City’ in 2021.
Away from the screen, he narrated hundreds of autiobooks too, including series by Anne Perry, Ruth Rendell and Colin Dexter.
Hardmin is survived by his wife Rowena and his two children.

Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill starring in The Life Of Chuck

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill have been cast in ‘The Life Of Chuck’.
The pair are attached to star in the new Stephen King adaptation that will launch for sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival market.
Mike Flanagan – who has helmed horror projects such as ‘Doctor Sleep’ and ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ – is directing, scripting and producing the film for Intrepid Pictures alongside producer Trevor Macy.
The movie is based on the short from King’s 2020 anthology ‘If It Bleeds, The Life of Chuck’. Three separate tales tell the story of Charles Krantz in reverse, beginning with his death from a brain tumour at 39 and ending with his childhood in a haunted house.
The script has been in development for several months with Hiddleston playing the title role and Hamill cast in the part of Albie.
Tom previously revealed how he forgot his lines while working with Kermit The Frog on ‘Muppets Most Wanted’.
The 42-year-old star made a cameo appearance in the 2014 film as The Great Escapo but messed up his lines because he was so nervous about working with the legendary amphibian.
He told Total Film: “Bucket list, yeah! I dried working with Kermit the Frog. I forgot my first line. I was so overwhelmed!”
Tom was pictured giving Miss Piggy a kiss on the red carpet at the 2012 BAFTAs but failed to keep in touch with her after the smooch.
He joked: “You know, I am ashamed to say, I haven’t, and I don’t know how Miss Piggy feels about this, but I feel embarrassed right now just thinking about it because, you know, what’s the point in making connections if you’re not going to sustain them?
“But you know, Miss Piggy’s got a busy schedule, I know she’s got lots of friends and appointments to keep and places to be, and she’s a big star … I like to think that in that moment, we shared something real, at least I choose to see it that way … If you have her phone number or email address, please send it my way.”

Nicolas Cage returns for Lords of War

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicolas Cage is to star in ‘Lords of War’.
The 59-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as gunrunner Yuri Orlov in the sequel to the 2005 film ‘Lord of War’.
Andrew Niccol will once again direct after helming the original and Bill Skarsgard is also set to feature as Orlov’s son.
In ‘Lords of War’, Yuri Orlov – the world’s most notorious gunrunner – discovers he has a son called Anton, who isn’t trying to right his father’s wrongs but top them instead.
Anton is amassing a mercenary army to fight America’s Middle East conflicts and the film tells the story of a father and son’s bitter rivalry.
FilmNation Entertainment will launch sales for the project at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
Phillippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi are producing under their Vendome Pictures banner and Cage for Saturn Films. Skarsgard is an executive producer on the film heading into production this autumn.
Niccol said in a statement: “There is so much more to explore with these characters. Plato said it best – ‘Only the dead have seen the end of war.’
“I’m looking forward to spending more time in the company of the charming devil that is Yuri Orlov and now his illegitimate son – who turns out to not be legitimate in any way.”
Rousselet added: “The ‘Lord of War’ world has no shortage of ammunition in the possibilities of stories we can tell, and we are very excited to tell yet another one that follows Yuri and Anton’s dangerous journey.”

Zoe Ball loves the thrill of a holiday romance

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Ball has admitted she loves the thrill of a holiday romance.
The 52-year-old star – who is rumoured to have split from her model partner Michael Reed after five years together – recalled some past flings in the sun and revealed she enjoys being able to “misbehave”.
Appearing on Alan Carr’s ‘Life’s A Beach’ podcast, she said: “Isn’t it great when you go somewhere and they don’t know who you are so you can misbehave.
“I fell in love with a Greek boy once, rode on the back of his moped. He would talk to me, I had no idea what he was saying.
“I did always like a holiday romance. I fell in love with a surfer in Mexico. He’s probably married with kids so I won’t tell you his name!”
In return, Alan reflected on some of his own experiences with holiday flings.
He quipped: “You open your suitcase and you go, ‘Oh my God I haven’t packed my morals. No one knows who I am here, I can be a slag.’ ”
Their chat comes after the BBC Radio 2 presenter admitted she was “absolutely gutted” to have to pull out of the station’s coverage of the Coronation Concert due to illness.
She had been set to front a show from Windsor Castle on Sunday (07.05.23) before the star-studded event featuring the likes of Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and take That, but Scott Mills had to take her place.
She tweeted on the morning of the celebrations: “Absolutely gutted… the sickness bug has got me. Was meant to be heading to Windsor Castle for the #coronationconcert on @BBCRadio2 later.
“@radioleary and @scott_mills have got you covered. I’m heading back to bed (sic)”

Jade Goody turned Alan Carr into ‘fat Calippo’ after fake tan mishap

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Carr says Jade Goody turned him into a “fat Calippo” after a fake tan mishap.
The 46-year-old comedian has recalled an awkward moment when the late reality TV star – who died from cervical cancer in 2009 – waxed and tanned him while he was hosting the ‘Friday Night Project’ around 17 years ago and left him looking like a brightly coloured ice lolly.
Speaking on his own ‘Life’s a Beach’ podcast, he said: “She was so sweet. Who didn’t love Jade? She was the best.
“We went there for ‘Friday Night Project’ and she had this salon called Ugly’s and she went, ‘Alan, let me put some fake tan on… oh it won’t come off.’
“Of course eventually it will. I was staying at my mum and dad’s and it was like the Shroud of Turin.
“I had yellow t***. I was orange and yellow. I looked a bit like a Calippo – a fat Calippo.”
Meanwhile, Alan recently admitted he’s been trying to get used to being single again following his split from ex-husband Paul Drayton in January 2022 after so long in a relationship.
He told the ‘Organic Meets’ podcast: “Boy, being a 45-year old man – I’m 46 now – and coming out on the dating scene, it was like, ‘Oh my God’.
“I didn’t know what to do. I can’t do the apps. I do say to people, ‘Is there anyone?’ ”
Another issue he has found with online dating is the way potential partners can look very different in their social media photos.
He added: “You can’t trust anything now with the Instagram filters.
“I’ve looked at my friend’s profile and everyone’s on a sun lounger with a pina colada.
“We all look nice in the sun. Even I look a bit f****** better in the sun.”

Dannii Minogue blasts dating shows for excluding gay contestants

OHMYGOSSIP — Dannii Minogue has blasted dating shows for excluding gay contestants.
The ‘I Kissed A Boy’ host admitted “it’s about time” same-sex relationships were highlighted on the new show – which will see men kiss before they’ve said a word in a bid to find the spark – after years of disappointment for the LGBTQ+ community.
The 51-year-old television personality told press including RadioTimes.com: “I think so many people have been wanting a gay dating show. There are so many comments that I’ve read over the years – ‘Our brand of dating show, it’s not going to include that, it’s never gonna happen.’
“And it’s confusing to me why so many people are asking for it but then nobody was making this show.
“I actually got asked yesterday, ‘Had you been asked to do a lot of other shows like this and this was the first one you said yes to?’ and I was like, ‘No, this is the first time that’s ever come up.’ So I think a lot of people wanted it, but it just wasn’t happening.”
Dannii – who helms the BBC Three programme that will see 10 single men see if they can find love at first sight in a luxury villa in Italy on May 14 – divulged that she was “concerned” about its “intentions” despite her excitement because the “LGBT community is so important” to her.
She added: “I was very excited about the concept but concerned about how it would work and how it was going to be done, and what the intentions of everyone were that were involved in it.
“So for me the LGBT community is very important to me, my friends, my people, I didn’t want to be part of anything that was not aligned with my intentions of looking after those people, wanting it to be great for them, wanting it to be a really cool experience.
“So it was a lot of research for me before getting from that first conversation to actually filming it. I think we’ve got a great cast, we’ve got a great crew looking after everyone and these guys’ lives are going to change overnight.”

“As a personality, Len was massive, not just as a TV judge but as a person. A lovely man, with a bite, which I love. It’s very sad. It’s a part of TV history, the ultimate judge, he knew exactly what to say.”

Tom Hanks calls for Idris Elba to be the next James Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hanks is backing Idris Elba to be the next James Bond.
The 66-year-old actor is unequivocal in his verdict that the ‘Luther’ star should be granted 007’s “licence to kill” and succeed Daniel Craig as the legendary spy.
Hanks told the BBC: “Understand this. James Bond has a licence to kill. I would issue that licence to Idris Elba just based on the work that I’ve seen him do.”
Idris appeared to definitively rule himself out as the next Bond earlier this year by explaining that he prefers to play the unorthodox detective John Luther.
Speaking earlier this year, he said: “You know, a lot of people talk about another character that begins with ‘J’ and ends with ‘B’, but I’m not going to be that guy. I’m going to be John Luther. That’s who I am.”
Hanks has written his first novel, ‘The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece’, which is inspired by his own career on screen.
The story is about the making of a superhero action blockbuster and features a cast of characters including an eccentric director and a self-important actor who disrupts filming.
The novel refers to actors who are “cry babies, psychological train wrecks, on-the-wagon alcoholics, off-the-wagon addicts… and more than a couple of feuds between the Talent” and the affable Hanks confessed that he is not always perfectly behaved on set.
The ‘Forrest Gump’ star said: “Not everybody is at their best every single day on a motion picture set.
“I’ve had tough days trying to be a professional when my life has been falling apart in more ways than one and the requirement for me that day is to be funny, charming and loving – and it’s the last way I feel.”

Halle Bailey lauds cultural impact of The Little Mermaid

OHMYGOSSIP — Halle Bailey values the cultural impact that ‘The Little Mermaid’ will have.
The 23-year-old star is the first black actress to play Ariel and the significance of her role in the live-action remake of the classic Disney animation is not lost on her.
Speaking to Deadline at the film’s premiere on Monday (08.05.23), Halle said: “This moment means everything to me, I’m so grateful to be here.
“I just feel really honoured and I’m happy the day has finally come where we can all watch it.”
Bailey’s casting became a trend on social media when the trailer for the movie was released but she hopes that young people of colour will “see a reflection of themselves” on the big screen.
The actress said: “It means the world to me, especially for the beautiful babies to be able to see a reflection of themselves. I am just honoured to be a part of this and be one of the princesses now because for me it was Brandy as Cinderella and then Anika Rose as Princess Tiana.
“So the fact that I am getting to continue this and live on this legacy is really exciting and I’m just grateful.”
‘The Little Mermaid’ is being directed by Rob Marshall who explained that he and the crew had “no agenda” when casting Halle as Ariel and had auditioned “every ethnicity” before selecting the black actress for the part.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Halle said: “We just were looking for the best actor for the role, period. The end.
“We saw everybody and every ethnicity. (The goal was to find someone who can be) incredibly strong, passionate, beautiful, smart, clever (and with) a great deal of fire and joy.”

Britain’s Best Takeaway ‘axed after one series’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Britain’s Best Takeaway’ has reportedly been cancelled after just one series.
The BBC2 show – which was fronted by Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox and ‘Dancing On Ice’ star Darren Harriott – ran for eight episodes last year and saw independent takeaways across the UK battling it out to be crowned the best in the country.
However, The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column reports that the show won’t be returning, with other cooking shows like Channel 4’s ‘The Great Cookbook Challenge’ and ITV’s ‘Bad Chefs’ also getting the axe recently.
A source said: “It’s a saturated market with so much competition, so it’s no surprise really that some shows find it hard to stand out.
“But it’s particularly tough for Sara and Darren’s one to be culled after just a series as it didn’t have time to grow.”
Each episode saw five takeaways from the same sector taking each other on in the show’s Top Takeaway Kitchen.
The meals would then be delivered to local homes, with the households deciing on the winner.
Sara previously admitted producers had her on board as soon as they mentioned the word takeaway, and she said she was “thrilled” to be fronting the show.
She said: “When I first heard about this show they had me at takeaway! Especially in recent times, it has become something of an event in our house.
“I’m thrilled to be celebrating the takeaway and finding the very best in Britain. And if that means eating all the leftover chips and putting on half a stone, so be it.”

Joe Swash found I’m A Celebrity… South Africa ‘a lot harder’ than he expected

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Swash found ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ “a lot harder” than he expected because he struggled being out of contact with his family.
The 41-year-old actor – who has Harry, 15, from a previous relationship and Rex, three, and 14-month-old Rose with wife Stacey Solomon – won ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ in 2008 but he admitted he found his stint in the all-star show much more “difficult” than his original jaunt because he is a father now and has never spend so much time unable to speak to them.
He reflected: “I found it tougher ultimately because of being away from the kids for so long. I missed my family so much. We had our phones taken away and I’ve never not had communication with them before. My kids are young and I knew they wouldn’t really understand where I was and would be upset.
“My family were always in the front of my mind. I found that really difficult. A lot harder than I thought I would.”
But Joe, who met Stacey in 2010 when he was working on the ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ spin-off show was “honoured” to be invited back for the South Africa competition.
He said: “I was honoured to go back to be one of the legends. It was a nice experience and something me and Stacey can show our kids and let them know, it all started from the jungle.”
The star – who left camp after losing the Temple of Doom trial to Phil Tufnell – was a late entry this year alongside fellow former ‘EastEnders star Dean Gaffney and he was happy to get to spend time with his old friend.
He said: “I only really like people around my family that are kind and genuine. Dean is one of those people. I just love him.”
‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ airs weeknights at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX, and on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player in Ireland.

Theo James starring in Stephen King’s The Monkey

OHMYGOSSIP — Theo James is set to star in an adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘The Monkey’.
The upcoming horror movie – which is based on the iconic writer’s short story of the same name – is being led by ‘The Conjuring’, ‘Saw’ and ‘Insidious’ creator James Wan, while Osgood Perkins has adapted the story and will also direct.
The film follows twin brothers Hal and Bill who find their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, which leads to a series of horrific deaths around them.
The siblings throw the monkey away and move on with their separate lives as they grow apart over the years.
However, the mysterious deaths start again and force the brothers to reunite in a bid to destroy the toy for good.
Wan said in a statement: “Stephen King is the godfather of the horror genre.
“He had a huge influence on me as a child and throughout my career, and it’s always been a dream to help bring one of his stories to life.
“‘The Monkey’ is a personal favorite, with its simple, iconic and incredibly marketable conceit.
“And I can’t imagine anyone better than a visionary and lifelong genre fan like Osgood to bring this to life.”
Wan is serving as producer with Atomic Monster partner Michael Clear and both Jason Cloth and Dave Caplan from C2 Motion Picture Group.
The team behind the movie – which will be launched by Black Bear International ahead of the Cannes market – is working on additional casting.

Justin Theroux signs up for Beetlejuice sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Theroux has joined the cast of ‘Beetlejuice 2’.
The ‘White House Plumbers’ actor is the latest big name to sign up for the sequel to the 1988 supernatural comedy, though Deadline reports it is unclear what role he will be playing.
Justin will be joined in the movie -which will be directed by Tim Burton – by original star Michael Keaton as the titular ghost, and Winona Ryder is also reprising her role as Lydia Deetz from the first film.
In addition, ‘Wednesday’ actress Jenna Ortega will play Lydia’s daughter.
Production on the movie is scheduled to begin in the UK this week ahead of a 6 September, 2024 release date.
The original cult classic made $75 million and told the story of a couple of ghosts who enlist a spirit named Beetlejuice to help them rid their home of its new inhabitants.
Although plot details for the sequel are being kept under wraps, composer Danny Elfman – who will reunite with longterm collaborator Tim on the movie – recently teased Michael won’t “look that much different”, despite so many years having gone by between films.
He told Deadline someone sounded surprised when they recently asked him about the 71-year-old actor returning to the character.
He explained: “I said, ‘He’s not even going to look that much different. That’s the beauty of the Beetlejuice make-up. He already looked like he was 150 in the first one.’
“It’s perfect, you know? Everybody else has to play the next generation, except for Michael. I mean, he’s still like really fit and really active and really on it.
“And with the Beetlejuice make-up, I can’t even imagine it’s going to look like he’s changed practically at all. So, I can’t wait for that.”
