Cheryl Baker ‘adores’ Eurovision

OHMYGOSSIP — Cheryl Baker still “adores” the Eurovision Song Contest.
The ‘Making Your Mind Up’ singer won the contest with Bucks Fizz in 1981, and Cheryl is looking forward to the upcoming show in Liverpool.
The 69-year-old singer told Metro.co.uk: “I think it’s amazing, I love it.
“I love the outfits, the costumes, the sparkle, the special effects, how the venues are massive now.
“Our venue was big, but if you look back it was very boring. The whole look of Eurovision then doesn’t compare. And the outfits – there’s an awful lot of skirts ripping and naked flesh now and it looks fantastic. And if I had their tiny bodies I would do the same!
“But I think when we did Eurovision and we ripped the skirts off it was a ground-breaking moment. I think it did make people realise that it’s not just about the song, it’s about the whole thing and the outfits are a major part of this.
“I think Bucks Fizz’s performance and the skirt rip certainly changed the face of the outfits in Eurovision.”
Cheryl has also praised Sam Ryder, who came second for the UK in last year’s competition.
However, she believes that politics still play a major role in the contest.
She said: “[Sam has] changed the face of it, hasn’t he? Thankfully.
“Unfortunately, I do think politics comes into it, and it’s very obvious when the voting comes in and the juries vote for the performance and the song, and then it goes to the public vote and you see what the public really think. A couple of years ago, the UK entry was doing okay, it was on the left-hand side of the board, and then the public came in and it dropped all the way down to the bottom and it was appalling.”

Chad Stahelski is willing to make John Wick 5

OHMYGOSSIP — Chad Stahelski “wouldn’t mind” making another ‘John Wick’ film.
The 54-year-old filmmaker has helmed all four movies in the Keanu Reeves-led action franchise and is willing to get behind the camera on another project despite putting “everything” into ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’.
Chad told The Direct: “The real question you ask yourself is not, ‘Do I want it?’ Yes, I wouldn’t mind doing it.
“We just tried to knock it out of the park. We tried to put everything on the table, take nothing, and leave it all. Like, ‘F*** it, every idea. We’re not saving anything. We’re not trying to build. Just everything you got, leave it there.’
“We feel we put everything we had into ‘John Wick 4’, and we feel we completed the cycle. We feel like we ended it. So, we feel like, ‘You know, that was a great way to wrap up the previous three films and the fourth and deliver something satisfying and fun.'”
The ‘John Wick’ series has been successful both critically and commercially and Chad is honoured that “people want more” stories from something he has helped to create.
He said: “That’s incredibly flattering. You have to be incredibly humble and go, ‘Thank you.’ And that’s our response, ‘Thank you so much. Thank you so much for offering. Thank you so much for wanting it. Thank you so much for everything.'”
Stahelski is tempted to keep making ‘John Wick’ films but is aware of the danger of repetitive storytelling.
The director said: “Look, I mean this in a good way, it’s a business. When you have something successful, yeah, of course, you want to keep doing it. But it’s very easy to be repetitive.
“The trick is how you be repetitive with individuality. How do you put your authorship or your agency into something that’s obviously been done three times before?”

Cillian Murphy teases ‘sensational’ Oppenheimer

OHMYGOSSIP — Cillian Murphy thinks ‘Oppenheimer’ is a “sensational” film.
The 46-year-old actor plays J. Robert Oppenheimer – the man known as ‘the father of the atomic bomb ‘ – in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie and is delighted to have the opportunity to bring the ‘Inception’ director’s story to the big screen.
Speaking in the new issue of Rolling Stone UK magazine, Cillian said: “I think it’s the best script I ever read.
“He wanted it to be solely from Oppenheimer’s perspective. And I think the film is sensational. As a person who loves films – I’m not saying it ‘cos I’m in the f****** thing, I hate looking at myself – but as a lover of film, as a cinephile, I’m a Chris Nolan fan.”
‘Oppenheimer’ is the latest collaboration between the ‘Peaky Blinders’ star and Nolan after they first worked together on ‘Batman Begins’ back in 2005 and Murphy finds it “absurd” that he has been in so much of the filmmaker’s work.
He explained: “I was a Chris Nolan fan. That’s how I was when I met him for the first time, because I’d watched ‘Following’, I’d watched ‘Memento’, I’d watched ‘Insomnia’.
“And I met him for ‘Batman Begins’, and I met him on the basis of being a fan. So, it feels absurd that I’ve been in six of his films.”
Murphy has such respect for the director that he even appeared in a minor role as a ‘shivering soldier’ in Nolan’s 2017 war film ‘Dunkirk’.
He said: “I’d always show up for Chris, even if it was walking in the background of his next movie holding a surfboard. Though… not sure what kind of Chris Nolan movie that would be.
“But I always hoped I could play a lead in a Chris Nolan movie. What actor wouldn’t want to do that?”

Joel Dommett and Hannah Cooper joke they’ll name baby after street sign

OHMYGOSSIP — Joel Dommett and his wife Hannah Cooper have joked they’ll name their baby after a “street sign”.
‘The Masked Singer’ presenter and his partner are expecting their first child together later this year and they’ve revealed they have a long list of potential names – but feel under pressure to pick a “weird” moniker for their child.
During an appearance on ‘The Chris And Rosie Ramsey Show’ on BBC One, Hannah says: “We’ve got a list – we don’t know, we keep adding street signs to it.
“It’s hard. It feels like at the moment we’re in the middle of where the weird names meet normal names again. Everyone’s gone for weird names. The classic is Apple and all that weird stuff, where people would just pick an object …  like Crust. If they go on holiday and don’t put their SPF on, it’s burnt Crust.”
Joel added of impending fatherhood: “I really have no idea what I’m doing. But I think, hopefully, I’ll be a fun dad. I will be trying to be funny and trying to make all the midwives laugh.
“My job entails me being a child. I’ve got the mental age of a 12-year-old, so it’ll be fine.”
Hannah said: “I do worry that he sees this child as another audience member in the house. I think he’ll do the classic dad jokes. I think he’ll be in performance mode. It’s a lot. From the moment he wakes up he practises on me. I mean, it’s nice, but it’s also annoying.”
The couple – who got married in 2019 – announced Hannah’s pregnancy earlier this month with some sweet polaroid pictures of her baby bump in a message shared on both their Instagram accounts.
Hannah cheekily captioned the post: “Does anyone know how to change a nappy? Because Joel has s*** himself.”

According to Deadline.com, the film is titled ‘The Murderous Miss Highsmith’ and will focus on the period of the author’s life before she put pen to paper to write her most famous book – ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ – which is said to have been partly inspired by her tumultuous relationships with two women.

Meadow Walker confirms Fast X cameo to honour legacy of late dad Paul Walker

OHMYGOSSIP — Meadow Walker is to honour her father’s legacy with a cameo in ‘Fast X’.
The 24-year-old model has confirmed she is to make an appearance in the 10th and penultimate film in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise, in which her late father Paul Walker – who was killed in a car crash in 2013 aged 40 – starred as Brian O’Conner
Meadow wrote on Instagram: “A preview of my cameo in Fast X.
The first fast was released when I was one year old! I grew up on set watching my father, Vin, Jordana, Michelle, Chris and more on the monitors. Thanks to my dad, I was born into the fast family. I can’t believe now I get to be up there too. With those who have been around to see me grow up. Thank you @louisleterrierpro for your kindness, patience and support. It feels like you’ve been part of the family since we started, I’m happy it’s just the beginning. Special shoutout to my dad’s best friend who is now my best friend @bbirtell, this wouldn’t have been possible without you. I am so blessed to be able to honor my father’s legacy and share this with him forever x
I love you all so much (sic)”
In November, Meadow – who was 15 when Paul died – admitted she repeatedly watches her late dad’s movies to remind herself of the sound of his voice.
She told The New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column: “They always say the first thing you forget about someone is their voice, so I’m fortunate enough to have his voice in many movies.
“I like to watch (his films) at night. For me, it brings me joy to talk about him and keep his spirit alive.
“Honestly, I just saw him as my dad, and I think he kept me very behind the scenes of everything, so I didn’t realise how big his fan base was.”

Paul Burrell shed a stone on I’m A Celebrity South Africa

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Burrell lost 22lbs on ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’.
The 64-year-old former royal butler admitted he hadn’t been “as hungry as that in all my life” when he was taking part in the ITV1 show, and he was even dreaming about gorging on lovely food in the camp.
He said: “I’ve never been as hungry as that in all my life. I lost 22 pounds.
“I just thought, don’t complain. I mean, at points I think we were all dreaming about food. We’d all make it tougher on ourselves by thinking about food all the time.
“People at home don’t realise how hungry you actually are.”
Paul admitted the lack of food made him lethargic on the show.
He said: “You get tired, lethargic. You want to lie on your bunk.
“You’ve just got to keep going for the good of the camp. You have to win challenges and trials or nobody eats.
“The best meal in camp Fatima cooked – it was Barracuda, leeks and fried potatoes.
“That lifts your morale when you see a delicious meal coming towards you. It doesn’t lift you for a long time, but it does lift you up. You just get on with it, stop moaning and get on with it.”
Paul exited the show on Thursday night’s episode (11.05.23) alongside Carol Vorderman, just a day shy of Friday night’s finale (12.05.23), but he made “memories of a lifetime” on the series.
He said: “It was a rollercoaster of a ride at times and there were ups and downs of course.
“But at the end of the day, looking back on it, we had fun and made memories of a lifetime. I know it’s a cliché, campmates always say ‘I made friends of a lifetime on this show’.
“I didn’t the first time round. I didn’t. But this time was totally different. We bonded as a big family.”
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ final is at 9pm on Friday on ITV1 and ITVX, and on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player in Ireland.

Monica Bellucci boards Beetlejuice 2 cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Monica Bellucci has signed up to star in ‘Beetlejuice 2’.
The 58-year-old actress is the latest performer to join the cast of the sequel to the 1988 supernatural comedy that sees her partner Tim Burton returning to direct.
Production on the project is set to begin imminently in the UK ahead of a September 2024 release date.
Plot details are yet to be revealed but Monica is set to play Beetlejuice’s wife.
The new movie features a combination of both original and fresh cast members with Michael Keaton returning as the titular ghost and Winona Ryder reprising the part of Lydia Deetz.
‘Wednesday’ actress Jenna Ortega has been cast as Lydia’s daughter while Justin Theroux is to feature in a role that is not yet known.
The original movie was a critical and commercial hit and told the story of a couple of ghosts who enlist a spirit named Beetlejuice to help them rid their home of its new inhabitants.
Composer Danny Elfman – who will be reunited with longterm collaborator Burton on the ‘Beetlejuice’ sequel – recently suggested that Michael “won’t look much different” as the character despite more than three decades having passed since the original movie.
He told Deadline: “I said, ‘He’s not even going to look that much different. That’s the beauty of the ‘Beetlejuice’ make-up. He already looked like he was 150 in the first one.’
“It’s perfect, you know? Everybody else has to play the next generation, except for Michael. I mean, he’s still like really fit and really active and really on it.
“And with the ‘Beetlejuice’ make-up, I can’t even imagine it’s going to look like he’s changed practically at all. So, I can’t wait for that.”

John Travolta and Katherine Heigl to star in That’s Amore!

OHMYGOSSIP — John Travolta and Katherine Heigl are to star in the romantic comedy ‘That’s Amore!’
The pair have joined the cast of the movie that is being written and directed by two-time Oscar winner Nick Vallelonga with Christopher Walken also in negotiations to appear.
The movie follows Nick Venere (Travolta), who has never been married and his best dating years are well behind him. He has never heard the words ‘I love you’ and figures that he never will.
Patty Amore (Heigl) has problems of her own as a secret from her past and an over-protective father cause her to withdraw from the dating game. But when Nick and Patty literally bump into each other, they share an immediate connection.
When the two emotionally damaged people date one another and their families get involved, the results are hilarious.
The film heads into production in August with Vallelonga producing through his Vallelonga Productions banner. David Polemini will executive produce with Tamara Birkemoe and Mark Damon of the newly-launched sales banner Palisades Park Pictures (PPP).
PPP CEO Birkemoe said: “We could not be more excited to announce ‘That’s Amore!’ as the first title on PPP’s slate.
“This film’s unparalleled star power and endearing, romantic charm is a testament to the quality of films that PPP will continue to present to buyers at forthcoming film markets.”
Travolta recently revived his ‘Grease’ character Danny Zuko for a Super Bowl advert six months after the passing of his co-star Dame Olivia Newton-John.
The 69-year-old actor stepped back into Danny’s famous leather jacket to sing a parody of the film’s hit song ‘Summer Nights’ – which was a duet with Olivia who died last August aged 73 – with ‘Scrubs’ stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison in the commercial for T-Mobile.
In the advert, the trio sing about the benefits of the mobile phone company’s home internet service.
In an interview with People magazine, Faison admitted he was totally star-stuck when working with Travolta.
He said: “Listen, I have a really hard time meeting other actors or peers and stuff like that. I get excited for anyone and everyone, but I will tell you this: If you are in my top five, top 10, I’m going to go crazy. Travolta’s in my top five and I went crazy.”

Melissa McCarthy explains why The Little Mermaid benefits from ‘more modern’ message

OHMYGOSSIP — Melissa McCarthy feels like ‘The Little Mermaid’ remake has a “more modern” message than the original.
The 52-year-old actress plays Ursula in Disney’s new live-action re-telling of the beloved 1989 animated classic, and she explained why the new version is so “special”.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I think that for me there’s something special about this one.
“If we haven’t been a parent, we’ve all had parents. We’ve all wrestled with what that is.
“We’ve all longed to figure out what’s the life I want, which is really the key story that in this, I feel like it’s more modern than it was in the original, just in terms of really carving out the life you choose to have for yourself.”
She added that the message is “necessary” for the modern world.
She said: “And I just think that’s so relevant and necessary for today, that I think it’s gonna bring people a lot of joy.”
McCarthy – who appears opposite Ariel actress Halle Bailey in the movie – admitted rehearsals were “beautiful”.
She gushed: “Oh my gosh, like getting the kind of extraordinary rehearsal process that Rob Marshall gave to us all, was such a getting to know everyone, getting to really work through those characters.
“And to get to feel like what the set is going to look like, two years after filming it when it’s all realised in post – he gave us that in rehearsal, and I think we’re all so grateful for it.”
She pointed out that filmmaker Marshall puts a lot of effort into the worlds he creates on screen.
She explained: “I don’t know who else who could have done it… Just how Rob sets things up, it’s just beautiful.
“And you root for it, and you love it and you are afraid it’s gonna go away. It’s like all the good things, and that’s why we love stories.”

Pete Davidson’s cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 revealed

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn has confirmed Pete Davidson’s cameo in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3’.
The 29-year-old comedian voiced the alien Phlektik in the Marvel flick, reuniting with Gunn, who also directed him in the 2021 DC flick ‘The Suicide Squad’, in which he played Blackguard.
Gunn himself voiced Lambshank and his wife Jennifer Holland appeared as an employee of Orgocorp.
Alongside a snap of him with Chris Pratt (Peter Quill / Star-Lord) and Pete, Gunn tweeted: “I voiced the beautiful Lambshank. I don’t want to show her here because she’s too gorgeous and I don’t want folks to feel bad about themselves in comparison. And my friend Pete not only voiced but actually came to visit us in Atlanta for a day and played Phlektik on set.”
Phlektik appears at the latter end of the movie as a henchman for the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji).
Meanwhile, Karen Gillan (Nebula) recently gushed about how the cast – which also includes Zoe Saldana (Gamora) and Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon) – is like “a family” after going through the entire trilogy together.
She said: “This really genuinely does feel like a family. We’ve been through so much, so many years together, so many movies, so many adventures.
“We are so close.”
The 35-year-old star also admitted she is “lucky” to be involved in the franchise.
While on the red carpet for the premiere of the film, she told HeyUGuys.com: “I was standing up on that jet, just looking out at the big, all of these people on the Avengers campus, and I was like, ‘We are so lucky that we get to experience this.’
“This is not a normal movie premiere. This is something so much bigger.
“I’m appreciating every moment because I know this is also the final chapter and the last time we’re going to be doing this, so it’s kind of emotional, actually.”

AJ Odudu stunned when man tried to sell human skeleton on The Greatest Auction

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Odudu was shocked when a man brought a human skeleton on ‘The Greatest Auction’.
The 35-year-old presenter couldn’t believe the unusual lot being flogged on the Channel 4 show as the man looked to cash in on real bones.
She told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: “This amazing guy brought in human bones… like a skeleton.
“His parents were medical professionals and they had these bones to help educate them on the human body.
“He’s grown up with what he calls Mr Bones. When I saw it lying on this table in front of us ready to be sold, I was sure it wouldn’t sell.”
AJ admitted the “emotional” connection he had with the bones was incredible to see.
She added: “It was amazing to see how emotional he was about partying with something that to most people would seem like quite a strange object to form an attachment to.
“But for him there are so many beautiful stories that he shared with his late mother, his children and why of course he was coming to sell it.”
Other items up for sale on the new show include some of Marilyn Monroe’s hair, a Banksy artwork and even a pinball machine previously owned by Sir Elton John.
AJ explained: “People will literally find the most incredible things whilst doing a renovation, often under the floorboards!
“And then they find out these items are worth a lot of money.”
Meanwhile, AJ has another exciting role lined up after recently being announced as the new host of ITV’s upcoming ‘Big Brother’ revival alongside Will Best.
She said in a statement: “I’m so excited to finally be able to say that, yes: I’m hosting ‘Big Brother’! I couldn’t be happier.
“Following in the footsteps of some of my favourite broadcasting legends to front such an iconic show is an absolute honour – and to do it alongside my amazing friend Will is the icing on the cake.”

Matt Willis was worried Emma would leave him during addiction battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Willis was worried Emma Willis would leave him “many, many times” during his addiction battle.
The 40-year-old musician – who married the ‘Voice’ host in 2008 – has credited the mother of his three children with helping him survive his issues with substance abuse.
Speaking in upcoming BBC documentary ‘Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction’, he said: “I thought she would leave me many, many times, and I was involved in some of those times when people were saying that.
“I’m so grateful she didn’t and that she could see something in our relationship that was worth holding on to. And it was — we have three kids and we’re very happy.
“It’s always hard to hear other people telling your wife to get out, but understandably at the time.”
The Busted singer, who is an alcoholic, got sober before they got married but then turned to cocaine when the ‘Year 3000’ band reunited in 2016 after splitting in 2005.
He admitted he doesn’t like to think where he would be without the 47-year-old star’s support.
He added: “I dread to imagine where I’d be without her. I’m so grateful and thankful for her in so many ways.
“A lot of people don’t have someone like that, and especially not someone that’s going to stick around when you put them through hell.”
Despite seeing her husband – who has been to rehab a number of times – struggle over the years, Emma admitted she was determined to stand by him.
She said: “It’s very easy to look in on a situation you’re not directly involved in and go, ‘F*** that, get out now’.
“But when you’re in it and you have that history together and you love someone so dearly, you’re not going anywhere.”
‘Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction’ airs on BBC One at 9pm on May 17.

Samantha Womack is feeling broody after overcoming breast cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Samantha Womack has admitted she wants another baby after getting the all clear.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star revealed in November that she is cancer free after being diagnosed with breast cancer last summer, and she has been left feeling broody following her recovery.
The 50-year-old star – who is in a relationship with ‘Coronation Street’ actor Oliver Farnworth – told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I suddenly really appreciated my kids. I really wanted to do it all over again.”
Samantha – who has son Benjamin, 21, and 18-year-old daughter Lili-Rose as well as stepson Michael from her marriage to Mark Womack – acknowledged it could be difficult after going through chemotherapy.
She added: “Obviously throughout treatment, your ovaries are challenged because chemo can change your hormonal status, so I don’t even know if it would be possible now, post-treatment.
“And it sounds incredible greedy because I’ve done it.”
And despite her daughter turning 18, the actress admitted she has felt a “real yearning” for more children.
She said: “Lili’s 18. But I just suddenly had this real yearning. It was like another little switch.
“Ollie and I talked about it and said, well, never say never. If it’s not possible naturally, there are other ways. I just want to celebrate life.”
Meanwhile, Samantha recently urged the public to make sure they are self checking for breast cancer, to make sure any issues are found in time for treatment.
Appearing on ‘Good Morning Britain’, she said: “I never check myself, I’ve just been so strong all of my life so I was really fortunate that I just happened to do that when I did.
“Certainly, the term cancer-free is a little bit misleading.
“Luckily I’ve got it gone for now but with cancer, you have to be careful that you’re keeping on top of everything and keep checking yourself.”
