Margaret Qualley ‘had a blast’ with dominatrix role

OHMYGOSSIP — Margaret Qualley had “a blast” playing a dominatrix in ‘Sanctuary’.
The 28-year-old actress stars as Rebecca in the comedy thriller and particularly had “super fun” when it came to bossing around her co-star Christopher Abbott, who plays her hotel heir lover Hal.
Speaking to the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column, she added of making the movie: “It was so fun.”
In the film, Margaret’s character barks orders for Hal to scrub a bathroom, but the actress admitted she’d rather do such tasks herself as she finds cleaning therapeutic.
She said: “If I’m feeling out of control, the first thing that gets tended to is my home,” she explained.
“I do everything. I organise the closet, color coordinate. But it’s not just organizing; it’s a sanitary thing. I like a deep scrub.”
The ‘Fosse/Verdon’ star has never asked her mother Andie MacDowell for specific career advice but has always looked to the ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ actress’ example when it comes to how to successfully carve out a Hollywood career.
She said: “It’s not necessarily one piece of advice.
“It’s having a mom who is ambitious and loves her career and was wildly successful. That was ingrained in me from a very young age … that the sky’s the limit, and I’m eternally grateful.”
Meanwhile, Christopher admitted Hal was a “fun character to play” but doesn’t think he’d enjoy being bossed around so much in real life.
He said: “I would say not”.
The ‘Cattch-22’ star also enjoys cleaning in real life – but “not in a psychotic way”.
Margaret recently admitted she would “really love” to land a role in a stage production in New York’s Broadway.
She told IndieWire: “I love doing [plays], I just have never done it [on Broadway]. I actually would really love to.”

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley undecided on Dungeons + Dragons sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are unsure if they want to make a sequel to ‘Dungeons + Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’.
The directing duo don’t want to rush into agreeing to making a follow-up film to the fantasy adventure saga because they have dedicated so much of their time to the first movie so need a break to collect themselves, and they also won’t make another if they’re not convinced it is something fans are asking for.
John told ComingSoon.net: “I think it’s too early to say. There definitely has been talk of sequels, but I think, for us … all the pieces have to fit together in the right way. We have to make sure that we’re gauging the appetite to the audience and make sure that they want another one. Also, just the fact that we spent four years of our lives on this thing, pouring every piece of ourselves into this film … it’s going to take a minute for us to catch our breath and decide if we want to jump headfirst into it again.”
If they do make another film, the directors would be thrilled to work with Chris Pine again.
John said: “I can’t speak highly enough of Chris Pine. I think what he represents is an actor that is that really stands apart from most of leading men these days and really harkens back to your Paul Newmans, your Harrison Fords, someone that can so adeptly be able to juggle multiple tones without undercutting any one of them.
“So the fact that he’s able to find a laugh in a moment where people cry in the next minute is a skillset that you don’t often see and one that we definitely mined the most of when we were making this film.
“It was the reason why we always wanted him for this, is because not only does he have that leading man charisma and confidence, he also has a vulnerability that he’s totally comfortable to be able to embrace.
“I mean, it’s weird — those vulnerabilities and those moments of weakness are something that, very often, leading men these days are uncomfortable to portray because they don’t want to hurt their brand. And, to me, that is such a shame because it creates a character that you as an audience member can get behind and relate to, even though he’s 40 times more handsome than any one of us.”

Russell Tovey slams influence of ‘toxic masculinity’

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell Tovey felt a sense of “shame” about loving “drama, art and literature” during his childhood.
The 41-year-old actor has claimed that a culture of “toxic masculinity” shaped his attitude towards his passions.
He told The i newspaper: “I had a shame about giving a f***.
“I was told all that was ‘gay’. That really affected me. It took me a long time to accept and embrace those enthusiasms. Too long. I wish I could go back in time and tell the people who tried to make me feel small to just f*** off.”
Russell hopes UK schools will reconsider their approach towards art education.
The actor – who has starred on TV shows on both sides of the Atlantic – shared: “Art education in our schools focuses way too much on the old, dead white dudes.
“There are so many contemporary artists – not white and not male – who could speak more directly to kids. Get them excited.”
Russell claimed that art is “treated as superfluous by schools”.
He said: “When children see themselves and their experiences on gallery walls they’ll get the point. I find it offensive that art is treated as superfluous by schools. It’s in everything. It’s maths, coding, clothes, cars, the furniture of the classroom … art goes into everything we make as humans.”
The actor also regrets that “queer art was overlooked and pushed aside for many years”.
Russell added: “Now we have so many queer artists with shows and profiles. But it feels to me that the queer artists who came before didn’t get their moment. I feel a responsibility to close the gaps in the art canon.”

Christopher McQuarrie hints at directing another Mission: Impossible movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher McQuarrie could direct another ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie.
The 54-year-old filmmaker is directing ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two’, and Christopher has suggested that he could return to helm another movie in the money-spinning franchise.
Asked about the possibility of reuniting with Tom Cruise to shoot another ‘Mission: Impossible’ film, Christopher told Entertainment Weekly: “Look, we’re still shooting eight and there’s any number of ways that that story could play out.
“When you’re watching ‘Mission: Impossible’, and watching the team go through these adventures, you’re having some sense of what it’s like to make a ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie. There’s always a plan, the plan always changes, everything goes completely awry, and hopefully everything always turns out alright in the end. But you never really fully understand, or trust where it is you’re going, until you get there.”
Meanwhile, Christopher has confirmed that Hayley Atwell has a prominent role in the new movie.
However, the director doesn’t want to reveal too much about her part in the film.
He said: “The less I tell you about Hayley Atwell, the better.
“Hayley represents a stranger in a strange land – she’s somebody who does not come from this world, she’s not a spy, she’s not an agent. If anything, she’s an agent of chaos, and is something of a random element that’s thrown into this story.”
Christopher has also teased Esai Morales’ part in the film.
He shared: “I can tell you that he’s definitely the antagonist in our story, or rather he is one of the antagonists in our story.
“He’s something of an enigma. You discover more about him over the course of the two movies. There’s definitely more to him than meets the eye and he’s something of a ghost of the past.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Race Across the World’s Cathie Rowe and Tricia Sail felt “disbelief” after winning the BBC show.
The childhood friends overcame the odds to win the show’s £20,000 prize, and Cathie has confessed to being shocked by their success, after they reached the last checkpoint in Newfoundland, Canada, ahead of their younger rivals.
Cathie, 50, said on the show: “I’m totally elated, I feel just total elation mixed with a bit of disbelief. I’m overwhelmed, it’s incredible. I think it’s the best way to say thank you to all of the people in Canada who have helped us get here. It’s just unreal.”
Cathie and Tricia travelled the breadth of Canada – which the world’s second largest country – to claim the prize of £20,000.
And Tricia – who has a degenerative eye condition – admitted to being amazed by their success.
She said: “When we got there and opened the book, it was disbelief. After spending five-and-a-half hours on that first day stuck in Stanley Park, how we got to the finish first, I do not know.”
Cathie explained that her experience in Canada has already encouraged her to do more travelling.
The TV star revealed that she’s been trekking through the rainforest in Thailand after returning home from the show.
She joked: “I’ve got more interest in doing a bit more exploring and seeing a bit more, rather than just lying on the beach.”
Cathie and Tricia approached the show with a clear strategy, and shortly before they reached the finish line, they felt confident of claiming victory.
Cathie said at the time: “We feel like we’re in a really strong financial position.
“Our plan has been to make sure we have some money left for taxis if needs be for the final leg. We’ve managed to achieve that so I feel comfortable that we’ve got a thousand dollars left and that should get us where we need to go, quickly.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell Tovey wants to get Madonna on his podcast.
The 41-year-old actor recently met the pop icon at a party in Los Angeles, and Russell is now keen to get her on his ‘Talk Art’ podcast.
The TV star – who co-hosts the show with his gallery director pal Rob Diament – told The i newspaper: “She didn’t know who I was, but we got talking about art and now she follows us. She only follows about 505 people so that was phenomenal.
“Madonna’s never been given credit for her contribution to the art world. She’s been art.
“As well as hanging out with [pop artist Keith] Haring she dated Jean Michel Basquiat and she has supported so many female artists who were overlooked. So many people know Frieda Kahlo because of her. But she hasn’t had the platform to discuss that. I think we could show the world a whole new side of her.”
Russell’s podcast grew during the COVID-19 lockdown, and the actor previously admitted that his big-name guests have helped to attract new fans to the show.
Russell told told GQ magazine: “We went into overdrive, sometimes recording three episodes a day. Everybody was suddenly available, as they didn’t have work on, so we achieved this time capsule of how culture was responding to a global pandemic.
“It also grew the podcast so much, because we had some of our most famous guests, like Sir Elton John coming on to talk about his artwork and Billy Porter coming on to talk about living as an art piece.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Al Pacino has been cast in Johnny Depp’s film ‘Modi’.
The 83-year-old star is to feature alongside Riccardo Scamarcio and Pierre Niney in the biopic of the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani – which marks Depp’s first directorial effort in 25 years.

Kit Harington starring in romantic epic Eternal Return

OHMYGOSSIP — Kit Harington, Naomi Scott and Jeremy Irons are to star in ‘Eternal Return’.
The trio have boarded the cast of the epic romance movie that is being produced by Village Roadshow Pictures and will be introduced to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival next week.
The flick follows Cass (Scott), a young woman who has resigned herself to a life of emotional invulnerability until she meets Virgil (Harington) – a cartographer who makes maps to imaginary places.
Along with his partner Malcolm (Irons) – a vibrant renaissance man – the pair relentlessly try and travel back in time to awaken Cass to love again.
The feature has been written and directed by Yaniv Raz.
The production is one of several that Village Roadshow, led by the veteran executive Steve Mosko, has been developing through the pandemic. The company had been a passive film financier until Mosko took charge in 2018.
He told Variety: “We want to be nimble. Despite what the consumer might think, this company hadn’t produced a movie for 25 years. We shot four this year, and have a ton of amazing stuff on the runway.”
Kit recently explained how he is trying to take roles that “scare” him after making his name as the heroic Jon Snow in the TV series ‘Game of Thrones’ and says it was the reason he chose to play a villain in the upcoming film ‘Blood for Dust’.
The 36-year-old star told The Hollywood Reporter: “At the moment, and for the last couple of years, I’m trying to – and that’s another reason why I wanted to play this role – take roles that I’m a bit scared about doing.
“It’s fun playing a baddie, I think. I spent a long time playing the epitome of a good, honest human, trying to do the right thing that everyone’s rooting for. And maybe this is a reaction to the length of time I was doing that.”

Stephen Tompkinson cleared of causing grievous bodily harm

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Tompkinson has been found not guilty of causing grievous bodily harm.
The 57-year-old actor has been cleared of causing grievous bodily harm, after was accused of punching a drunken man outside his home in Whitley Bay, north-east England, in May 2021.
Karl Poole alleged that Tompkinson’s actions caused him to fall and fracture his skull. However, the actor always insisted that he’d acted in self-defence.
Tompkinson nodded but showed no visible emotion when the verdict was announced.
As he left Newcastle Crown Court, he told reporters: “I just want to go home.”
During the trial, prosecutors claimed that Tompkinson “snapped” and “lashed out” at Poole.
By contrast, the ‘DCI Banks’ star told jurors that his reaction “wasn’t enough to knock a sober man off his feet”.
He said in court: “I didn’t want to hurt him – I wanted to stop him.”
Tompkinson insisted he wasn’t responsible for Poole’s injuries.
He said: “I didn’t apply any excessive force that would have caused any sober person to fall over … I am not responsible for Karl Poole’s double skull fracture.
“He went off due to his own instability. He fell in a completely different direction.”
Tompkinson also described assaulting a member of the public as “career suicide”.
He explained: “It would be career suicide to do something as outrageous as assault someone.”
Meanwhile, Poole has confessed to being disappointed by the verdict.
He said outside court: “It is a shock to me that they reached that verdict and it’s very disappointing, I don’t think it was the right one.
“I’m still affected by what happened that night, but I don’t want to say anything further.”

Dean lost two stone during his first stint on ‘I’m A Celebrity’. However, the scenario was totally different in South Africa.
He said: “It was brilliant!
“For me it was an absolute breeze going into camp, I went in there for six, seven days. I ate like a king and it was nice!

Meanwhile, Dean clarified that, contrary to recent suggestions, he did shower everyday while he was on the show.
The actor – who played Robbie Jackson on ‘EastEnders’ – explained: “The worst thing for me was not having a mirror, a silly little thing like a mirror.
“You wake up in the morning, we all have bed head and you wake up and you’re like, ‘Ah what do I look like?’, you can’t see!

“Any type of exercise for me is the best way to keep my mind straight. Being in tune creates a positive mind set for everything you’re doing. It’s the best therapy.
“Before I go out every morning I get up and go to the gym and then I can get on with my day. I can tell a big difference from when I have been to the gym to when I haven’t. It helps set me up for the day.”
