Harrison Ford relished reviving the role of Indiana Jones

OHMYGOSSIP — Harrison Ford “always wanted a final chapter” in his ‘Indiana Jones’ story.
The 80-year-old actor has played the titular character in the money-spinning film franchise since 1981, and he relished the opportunity to revive the character in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’.
Harrison told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’d always wanted a final chapter in the story.
“We first started thinking about it quite a few years ago. My ambition – all of our ambition – was to come up with a story that dealt with the reality of his age because he was such a physical character.
“I wanted to see him diminished and revivified by whatever the storyline was and by whoever the characters were. And when we got the story that felt right to everybody, then we went ahead.”
Harrison has starred in some of the biggest film franchises of all time during his career, including ‘Indiana Jones’, ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Blade Runner’.
The veteran actor insists that he’s always enjoyed reviving his characters.
Harrison – who first found global fame as Han Solo in the ‘Star Wars’ movies – shared: “I’ve always felt, and the people that I’ve worked with have always felt, that we need to bring something new to the mix.
“If we’re going to do another Indiana Jones, the essential question is, ‘What new thing are we going to learn about Indiana Jones?’ Because if you don’t progress the character when you progress the story, you’re going to be out of sync.
“I have not been disappointed by any of those films that I’ve done where I’ve done it over – that I can think of right now.”

I need to be able to switch off, says Helen Flanagan

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Flanagan needs her own “adult time” as she adjusts to life as a single mum.
The 32-year-old actress – who has Matilda, seven, Delilah, four, and Charlie, two, with her ex-partner Scott Sinclair – has taken to social media to discuss her parenting troubles, revealing that she struggles to find time for herself.
Helen explained on her Instagram Story: “I fell asleep with the kids last night. So Delilah does this thing where she will not go to sleep without me, not a chance, she will just scream and scream and scream.
“I have spoken to Scott’s mum and I think we’re going to get them in a different routine.
“Gosh, she’s nearly five, but honestly, she won’t go to sleep without me. She literally has to sleep right there [next to her face].
“So usually what I do, I pretend I’m going to sleep and then when she’s asleep I sneak out the room.
“Anyway, I didn’t, I fell asleep and I fell asleep in my contact lenses. Great!”
Helen recognises that she needs to “switch off” from the pressures of parenthood from time to time.
She shared: “I need my own adult time even if it’s just like I’m watching something I want to watch or I can speak to my friends. I just need that switch off.”
Meanwhile, Helen recently described co-parenting with Scott as being “pretty drama-free”.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who split from the sports star last year – told The Sun newspaper: “I co-parent with Scott. We were together for a long time. So he lives with his mum in Bristol and I live in Manchester with the kids. I get on really well with Scott’s mum.
“I was with Scott aged 19-31, so that’s why I get on so well with his mum. So honestly it makes my life so easy because we hang out together. It’s really nice. It’s pretty drama-free as I get on really well with her.”

Maisie Smith insists door is open for her EastEnders return

OHMYGOSSIP — Maisie Smith insists she has not left ‘EastEnders’.
The 21-year-old actress is currently on hiatus from the BBC One soap, but she claims the door is always open for her to reprise her role as Tiffany Butcher.
She told OK!: “You never leave ‘EastEnders’. I’ve got a family on there that will be there for the next 50 years. I’ll always have a place there. The next time someone gets married or dies, I’m sure I’ll be back.
“They’ve watched me grow up and have never treated me any differently.”
Tiffany is currently residing in Germany with her brother Liam (Alfie Deegan).
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant’s career has been given a major boost after signing up to appear in ‘Bermondsey Tales: Fall Of The Roman Empire’.
She is playing the part of Chloe, a leading player in a mobster family opposite ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ actor Alan Ford and ‘Kidulthood’ star Adam Deacon.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Maisie has secured her first big film role and shooting will begin later this year. It is an exciting new venture for Maisie and she can’t wait to dip her toe into a big new project.
“Since ‘Strictly’ and ‘EastEnders’ she has kept her eyes open for her next on-screen job and the people behind ‘Bermondsey Tales’ thought Maisie was the perfect fit.”
Maisie is filming the movie after her stint in the stage show ‘Strictly Ballroom: The Musical’.
Maisie previously made her feature film debut at the age of four when she appeared as a young Elizabeth I in the 2008 film ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ opposite Eddie Redmayne, Benedict Cumberbatch and Scarlett Johansson.
She went on to land the role of Tiffany in ‘EastEnders’ when she was just six – staying with the show for more than a decade before stepping back last year.

Phillip Schofield was sacked, says Eamonn Holmes

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes claims his phonebook is “full of people” who are “glad to see the back” of Phillip Schofield.
The 63-year-old TV star – who previously co-hosted ‘This Morning’ alongside his wife Ruth Langsford – insists Phillip has been “sacked” from the ITV show, rather than simply agreeing to step down.
During a newspaper review on GB News, Eamonn said: “Oh please, just stop this. He was sacked. All this nonsense of ‘I’ve decided to step down’. I’m sure you did: ‘Here’s your P45 now step down.'”
Eamonn also claimed that Holly Willoughby wanted Phillip removed from the show.
He continued: “She says: ‘Oh, the couch will not be the same without him being there’. Well she wanted him not there. So what is she moaning about. They deserve each other, I suppose.”
What’s more, Eamonn accused Holly of being “false” and suggested that plenty of people would be “glad to see the back of the two of them”.
He said: “Holly is being as false as he is and nobody is talking about the elephant in the room.
“She says, ‘I thank him for all his knowledge, experience and humour’. All the things that she didn’t have when she came to the show. Well it’s true! I would call that stabbing in the back.
“I could give you a list of the lack of kindness and lack of awareness from both of them. How they would socialise, and the people around them. You just have to look at my phone, full of people who are glad to see the back of the two of them.”
Phillip recently announced that he was stepping down from ‘This Morning’ “with immediate effect” after more than 20 years on the show.
He said in a statement: “Throughout my career in TV – including in the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind.
“I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.
“So I have agreed to step down from ‘This Morning’ with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.”
Meanwhile, Holly thanked Philip for sharing “his knowledge, his experience and his humour.”
The 42-year-old presenter – who is taking an early half-term holiday and will return to the show on June 5 – said in a statement: “It’s been over 13 great years presenting ‘This Morning’ with Phil, and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour.”

The 52-year-old comedian has been announced as the new host of the long-running Irish talk show, and Patrick has revealed that he’s already looking forward to the challenge.
The TV star – who has replaced Ryan Tubridy as the show’s host – said in a statement: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be the next host of ‘The Late Late Show’.
“To follow in the footsteps of Gay [Byrne], Pat [Kenny] and Ryan as the next custodian is a real honour and I can’t thank RTE enough for giving me the chance to be a part of the next chapter of such an iconic show.
“I’m also genuinely humbled to become part of Friday nights for so many Irish people, at home and around the world. I can’t wait to get started on one of the greatest jobs in television.”

Barry Keoghan cast in Bird

OHMYGOSSIP — Barry Keoghan has been cast in ‘Bird’.
The 30-year-old actor is to feature in the new project from director Andrea Arnold alongside Franz Rogowski.
Little is known about the movie other than it begins shooting next month and is the reason that Barry had to pull out of Sir Ridley Scott’s hotly-anticipated ‘Gladiator’ sequel.
Keoghan earned an Oscar nomination for his role in ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ and will next be seen in Emerald Fennell’s ‘Saltburn’ and in Trey Edward Shults’ latest movie which also stars Jenna Ortega and The Weeknd.
The Irish actor had been due to star as Emperor Geta in the new ‘Gladiator’ movie but ‘The White Lotus’ actor Fred Hechinger is now in talks to replace him.
Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal are all set to appear in the sequel while Connie Nielsen and Sir Derek Jacobi are reprising their roles as Lucilla and Gracchus respectively.
Russell Crowe has ruled out returning as the main ‘Gladiator’ character Maximus Decimus Meridius in the new project – which is due to be released in November 2024 – and explained that it won’t be a “direct sequel” to the Oscar-winning original.
Speaking on the ‘Fitzy and Wippa Podcast’, he said: “Yeah we’ve had dinner and talked about it and all that stuff. So I know roughly how he’s shaping the story.
“But yeah, if you remember, there was a young kid who wanted to beat the Gladiator, which leads to the ‘My name is’ speech. So that young kid has grown up, and he’s now the Emperor.
“I don’t know what else happens at that point, so that’s the idea. So it’s not a remake. And it’s not a direct sequel. It’s not like the day after, you know, 30 years later or something.”

Sean Penn starring in Ukrainian film War Through the Eyes of Animals

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean Penn is to star in the Ukrainian film ‘War Through the Eyes of Animals’.
The 62-year-old actor and director has been cast in the nine-part anthology, directed by nine different Ukrainian filmmakers, that tells the story of the conflict in Ukraine through the perspective of animals caught up in the war.
Sean will feature in the ninth and final segment – helmed by acclaimed Ukrainian director Myroslav Slaboshpytski – as an American sound engineer who inadvertently witnesses the outbreak of war as Russian forces invade in February 2022.
Filming is set to take place in Ukraine and Los Angeles this summer.
‘War Through the Eyes of Animals’ is being produced by SOTA Cinema Group and Kleos Art with Oleg Kokhan and Oleksiy Makukhin serving as producers.
Penn has been a supporter of Ukraine throughout the war and had been shooting a documentary in the country when the conflict broke out. It had intended to be a humorous look at the rise of comedian-turned-president Volodymyr Zelensky but instead became ‘Superpower’ – a depiction of the president’s heroic leadership during the war.
The ‘Mystic River’ star also lent one of his Oscar statuettes to Zelensky when he visited Kyiv last November and has also called on Western governments to provide more military support for Ukraine.
Myroslav said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of this film. It is a great honour for me to collaborate with the incredible actor and outstanding person, and one of Ukraine’s greatest friends, Sean Penn.
“He was with us during the attack on the 24th of February and deeply explores the war and Ukraine in his documentary film. His support is invaluable to us and cannot be overstated.”

I’m happier than ever at 65, says Denise Welch

OHMYGOSSIP — Denise Welch feels happier than ever at 65.
The actress has overcome her addiction struggles and she’s now loving life with her husband, Lincoln Townley.
Denise – who married Lincoln in 2013 – told OK! magazine: “This decade has been one of the happiest in my life for two reasons. One is that I met my husband and I have an incredibly happy marriage that I love and I nurture. And two because I got sober.
“My life was a mess for many parts of a decade and more before. Not all the time, but I was dealing with an addiction which impacted my family and myself.”
Denise has been through her fair share of ups and downs in recent years. But the veteran actress feels confident that she can now overcome any setbacks.
She said: “Even though I’ve been through my dad dying [in 2021], and we’ve all been through COVID and the stress and fear that was involved in all of that and my anger about it, I haven’t actually been clinically depressed. I’m not saying it won’t come back, but when you’ve lived with an illness like depression, which people can’t see and many people don’t understand, to wake up every day without depression is a good day.
“Getting older doesn’t matter. If they said to me, ‘Do you want to go back to being 45 still in your addictions with depression?’ I’d say you can keep 45.”
Denise admits to making “some terrible judgements” during her battle with alcoholism.
However, she’s now free of her addiction struggles and looking forward to a brighter future.
She said: “Addiction is a horrible illness.
“There are never excuses for behaviour, but there are always reasons – that’s how I look at my life. I made some terrible judgements, I made some terrible mistakes, I hurt my family, but there were reasons and that was because I was medicating a terrible illness.”

Amanda Holden ‘lined up to host For the Love of Dogs’

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Holden is reportedly being lined up to host ‘For the Love of Dogs’.
The 52-year-old TV star has been touted as the favourite to host the ITV show – which celebrates the work of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home – following the death of former host Paul O’Grady, who passed away in March, aged 67.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Execs just feel like it’s too soon to make firm plans about the series, as it’s barely been two months since he died. But the feeling at the home is that it’s what Paul would have wanted.
“After all, he cared deeply about the animals in Battersea.
“Amanda is the natural choice to take over the job, not just because she’s a seasoned presenter but because she also cares about the home and would do anything for them.”
Paul’s death was announced by his husband, Andre Portasio, in March.
He said in a statement at the time: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.
“We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.”
Amanda subsequently paid a glowing tribute to the TV star on her Heart radio show, describing Paul as being “really funny” and “really witty”.
Speaking about her showbiz pal, Amanda shared: “Do you know what I loved about him? He was not woke in any way. He had massive opinions on everything, which … I love people like that.”

Rhod Gilbert returns to stand-up comedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Rhod Gilbert has returned to stand-up comedy after battling head and neck cancer.
The 54-year-old comedy star recently performed at Swansea Arena for the first time in a year, and Rhod subsequently admitted that he was delighted about his return to the stand-up scene.
Rhod – who announced last year that he was being treated for stage four cancer – said in a Facebook video: “It is wonderful being back doing stand-up again for the first time in a year.
“Lovely to be here, lovely to be back in Swansea, lovely to be alive and lovely to be back on tour.”
Rhod previously admitted that he felt “p***** off” when he was diagnosed with head and neck cancer.
The TV star also revealed that he was left struggling to “speak or breathe” during the early days of his battle with the disease.
In a pre-recorded segment for the National Comedy Awards, which were held in aid of Stand Up 2 Cancer, he said: “I couldn’t speak or breathe and I was postponing and cancelling tour shows, I had terrible spasms in my face and a lot of tightness in my muscles.
“Couldn’t get to the bottom of it, turns out after a biopsy of this lump in my neck that I have something called head and neck cancer, cancer of the head, sounded pretty serious.”
Rhod joked that he assumed he would have “life-long immunity” from cancer after spending ten years as a patron of Velindre Cancer Centre.
He said: “I’ve led five fundraising treks all over the world, I do stand-up comedy nights to raise money, I hosted quizzes … it’s been a big part of my life for the last ten years, so imagine my surprise when I was diagnosed with cancer.
“Which p***** me off no end, because I thought I’d have life-long immunity! Apparently not.
“Apparently you’re just as likely to get cancer even if you spend your time fundraising for a cancer hospital. Anyway, I did get it, and it turns out it can come for anybody.”

Rose Ayling-Ellis to lead crime drama Code of Silence: ‘I am thrilled’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rose Ayling-Ellis is to lead the cast of crime drama ‘Code of Silence’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actress will portray catering worker Alison Woods, who is deaf, and the character will be plunged into a new and exhilarating world when she is asked by DC Ashleigh Francis to lip read the conversations of some dangerous criminals.
Rose – who has been deaf since birth – said: “I am so thrilled to be coming on board for ‘Code of Silence’ and to get to work with the incredible team at Mammoth Screen.
“When I first read Catherine Moulton’s script it was obvious that her first-hand experiences and understanding has enabled her to write a truly authentic character and I knew I had to be a part of this project.
“I am so delighted ITV are as excited as we are to bring this to life and I can’t wait to get to started!”
The drama, which has been created and written by Catherine Moulton – who is partially deaf and a hearing aid user – will premiere on ITV and be available for streaming on ITVX.
ITV’s Head of Drama Polly Hill added: “In a world where there’s a lot of crime drama ‘Code of Silence’ really stands out.
“It’s a brilliantly original story and a great role for Rose Ayling-Ellis.
“Catherine Moulton has written a thrilling drama that audiences will be gripped and surprised by, but she also puts you in the shoes of Alison, a young deaf woman.
“I am incredibly proud to make this show with Rose, Catherine and Mammoth Screen.
“It’s a mainstream crime show, but one that can make a real difference to the audience’s understanding of the Deaf community.”
Rose, 28, made history on ‘EastEnders’ by becoming the BBC One soap’s first regular deaf actor in her role as Frankie Lewis, which she portrayed from 2020 to 2022.
She went on to become the first deaf contestant to appear on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2021, and won the Glitterball Trophy alongside her professional dancer partner Giovanni Pernice.

Paul Sinha ‘fighting as hard as ever’ in Parkinson’s battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Sinha is “fighting as hard as ever” in his battle with Parkinson’s disease.
The ‘Chase’ quizzer was diagnosed with the degenerative neurological disorder in May 2019, and while he admits life will “get tougher” for him in the future, he always tries to “look [his] best” because he doesn’t want to “vanish”.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I have Parkinson’s. It is a tough call, and it will get tougher for me.
“In the years that I have ahead of me, I want to do my best to show that it doesn’t have to ruin your quality of life, and that you can fight against the stereotypes others have of you.
“For that reason, when I’m out and about, I try even harder to look my best. I want people to know that I am not vanishing, I’m still fighting as hard as ever.
Paul, 52, will speak about his Parkinson’s battle on Thursday’s (18.05.23) episode of ‘Loose Men’ – an all-male panel version of ‘Loose Women’, to mark Mental Health Awareness Week – and he was “made to feel at home” on the show.
He added: “It was a little nerve-wracking, but so is any new experience. I was made to feel at home though.”
In July 2021, Paul admitted he grows increasingly concerned his health is deteriorating whenever he gives an incorrect answer on ‘The Chase’, to something he would have previously known.
In an interview with Radio Times magazine, the 51-year-old doctor-turned-comedian said: “Every time I get a question wrong in a quiz that I used to know the answer to, I think, ‘Should I be worried?’
“And then I realise that everybody does it. I’m just quite pragmatic about it.
“Yes, I’m 51, and I’ve got Parkinson’s – things are going to fall out of my head, things are going to stay in my head.”

Kara Tointon to star in thriller The Hunted

OHMYGOSSIP — Kara Tointon is to star in new thriller ‘The Hunted’.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ winner, 39, has been given the lead role in the new four-part Channel 5 series as Rachel, a single mother living on the bread line with her son Liam and working as a cleaner.
But her life will change when wealthy client Elliot offers to give her a better paying gig with fewer hours.
However, when Rachel investigates into his past, she uncovers a dark story.
The Story Films’ production – which also stars Charlie Hobson-Prior, Allen Leech, Sara Powell and Taj Atwal – is set to begin filming soon in Ireland.
Bosses behind the show are “delighted” to be working with the production company that gave audiences ‘Deceit’ and ‘The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe’.
Sebastian Cardwell, the UK deputy chief content at Paramount, said: “I’m delighted to be working on another project with the talented team at Story Films. Equipped with a compelling script and stellar cast, The Hunted (w/t) is another exciting addition to our ever-growing Drama slate.”
Kara – who made her name as Dawn Swann on ‘EastEnders’ between 2005 and 2009 – recently admitted she couldn’t see herself returning to Walford.
She told The Sun newspaper: “Every year I get asked about it. It’s the thing I’m most known for, that I was most watched in, but I really enjoy doing lots of other things so I can’t see it, no.”
The ex ‘Mr Selfridge’ star – who has two sons, Frey, four, and Helly, two, with her husband Marius Jensen – admitted it is “a feat” how soaps are made.
Kara added: “You can’t catch up because things are moving so fast. It’s so lovely what they achieve, the serial dramas. To do the amount of work they do in a short period of time and just keep going is quite a feat.
“It’s an amazing production line, but I think they could take it back to two times a week and have more time to… You wonder how things are going and how long those serial dramas will sustain.”

Leslie Ash would ‘love’ to star in EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Leslie Ash would “love” to star in ‘EastEnders’.
The ex ‘Men Behaving Badly’ actress is “always up for everything” soap-wise, but if she could have her pick of which one she could appear in, she would love to have a brief stint in Walford causing chaos for the Albert Square residents.
The 63-year-old actress told the Daily Star newspaper: “I love the soaps. And if I had to choose one, I suppose that would be ‘EastEnders’, because it’s in London. You know, if I was to do one that’s up north, it would mean I’d be away from home.
“But for someone my age, I’d probably just go up and play a character for a short while. I’m always up for everything. I love this business passionately.
“I never wanted it to ever come to an end.”
Leslie – who has two adult sons, Joseph and Max, with ex footballer Lee Chapman, who she has been married to since 1988 – confessed she would be up for playing a villain on the BBC One soap, as she has experience doing so in the axed medical series ‘Holby City’.
She said: “Yeah, I could, I played a villain in ‘Holby City’. Yeah, she wasn’t a very nice person but I enjoyed it.”
The ex ‘Casualty’ star also has her eye on appearing in Netflix period drama ‘Bridgerton’, which has starred Phoebe Dynevor, Rege-Jean Page and Jonathan Bailey.
Leslie said: “I’d love to do something like ‘Bridgerton’. Oh gosh, I love all the costumes and everything like that.
“I just love it. And with acting, it keeps your brain active when you have to learn lines.”
But Leslie has ruled out returning to modelling, because she thought the fashion industry “was quite tough”.
She said: “I don’t think I would enjoy it now. I always say never say never but, no, that was quite tough.
“There was a lot of traveling. A lot of traveling. And models in those days didn’t get treated that well. I mean, we didn’t get treated that badly either, but…”

Carrie-Anne Moss cast in Die Alone

OHMYGOSSIP — Carrie-Anne Moss, Douglas Smith and Frank Grillo have been cast in ‘Die Alone’.
The trio are to feature in the post-apocalyptic movie that is being written and directed by Lowell Dean.
‘Die Alone’ is set in a future where society collapses following a catastrophic pandemic and follows Ethan (Smith), a young man with amnesia who bands together with rugged survivalist Mae (Moss).
Under siege from the zombie-like monsters that the outbreak has created, Ethan must use Mae’s survival skills to find his missing girlfriend but a fateful encounter with Kai (Grillo) unravels a secret that lies beyond his fractured memory.
Archstone have acquired international rights to the feature and are selling it at the Cannes Film Festival.
Principal photography on the film will start next month in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Carrie-Anne played the role of Trinity in ‘The Matrix’ franchise and previously explained that she was grateful that her character wasn’t “overly sexualised” on the big screen by director Lana Wachowski.
The 55-year-old star said: “I don’t know. When I did the first film, I was super-young; I didn’t really understand all the different things that were happening, it was just such a whirlwind.
“When I saw the movie I was overwhelmed by it.
“I’d never seen myself in that way on a big screen.
“One of the things that I love about Trinity has to do with the gaze of the filmmakers.
“It’s Lana, and how she shoots.
“She loves Trinity so much.
“I can really appreciate it, in hindsight. I didn’t feel that she was overly sexualised, and I don’t think they would have picked me anyway if they were looking for that. I am grateful, in Hollywood terms, that it wasn’t taken in that direction.”

The ‘Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ actress will feature alongside Eddie Marsan and Sope Dirisu in the film that is being directed by Joe Marcantonio.
A synopsis for the movie reads: “After the brutal murder of their family, barely teenage Millie and her Uncle John (Dirisu) embark on a brutal mission of revenge and retribution.
“But as they get closer to the people responsible, Millie must decide if she is ready to follow the bloody path of vengeance… and its violent, premature journey into adulthood.”
The script has been co-written by Joe Marcantonio and Owynne Dawkins with principal photography set to begin this autumn in the UK.
Morfydd, 34, said: “I’m thrilled to be working on a project so specific to rural Wales but with so much resonance with contemporary issues affecting people everywhere.

The actress told E! News: “She has a very strong sense of justice and is quite rigid with that, and I can be a little rigid at times.
“I think what’s interesting about her is what drives her is kind of, is instinct. She can’t even necessarily put into words or even know herself.”
