Ellie Leach ‘eternally grateful’ to play Coronation Street’s Faye Windass

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Leach is “eternally grateful” to have played Faye Windass on ‘Coronation Street’ after she bowed out of the ITV soap.
The 22-year-old actress praised her “incredible” co-stars after she departed the role last night (24.05.23), after 12 years on the cobbles.
She wrote on Instagram: “Farewell Faye Windass
and just like that, 12 years at @coronationstreet has come to end!! At 9 years old I could have never imagined how much this show would change my life. I have worked with some of the most incredible people and have learnt so much over the years that i will continue to hold onto for the rest of my life. Everyone says we’re like a family at corrie and we really are. From the cast, to the crew, make-up, costume, everyone infront of the camera and behind the cameras are what makes this show so special and i’m eternally grateful to have played a tiny part in that.
I am so unbelievably overwhelmed with the amount of kind comments that everyone has had about Faye over the years and how many well wishes i’ve had since announcing that i’ll be leaving and i just can’t thank you all enough for the support that everyone has given me.
Thankyou @coronationstreet for giving me the opportunity to play Faye Windass, she will always have a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to see what the future holds beyond those corrie cobbles (sic)”
Faye’s Weatherfield departure saw her break the heart of her fiance Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), as she fled the cobbles to be with her daughter Miley (Frankie-Jae Simmonds) and Miley’s father Jackson Hodge (Joseph Evans).
After her final scenes aired, Ellie paid tribute to her “best friend” Colson, admitting he is one of the “most special people” in her life.
She wrote: “To my best friend,
Where to even begin, starting this job at 9 years old i didnt know what to expect, never in my wildest dreams did i think i would meet someone who would become one of the most special people in my life. You really are one in a million, i’ve never met anyone quite like you and im so blessed to call you my best mate, just dont go getting another fiancé too quickly okay!!!!!!
Thank you for everything Colson Smith, everything we’ve been through, everything we’ve done together, i wouldn’t be who i am today if it wasn’t for you. I love you and i always will.
Craye forever (sic)”

Kristen Stewart, Josh O’Connor and Elle Fanning set for Rosebushpruning

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristen Stewart, Josh O’Connor and Elle Fanning will lead the cast of ‘Rosebushpruning’.
The trio are set to feature in the movie from director Karim Ainouz, whose historical drama ‘Firebrand’ – starring Jude Law and Alicia Vikander – premiered at the Cannes Film Festival recently.
Ainouz will direct from a script by Efthimis Filippou and adapted from Marco Bellocchio’s 1965 film ‘Fists in the Pocket’.
The dark satire of family and social values is considered to be a landmark piece of Italian cinema.
In the original ‘Fists in the Pocket’, a young epilepsy sufferer (Lou Castel in his film debut) plots the murders of his dysfunctional family. It proved controversial when it was first released but has gone on to develop a strong following.
Ainouz said: “Marco Bellocchio’s astonishing debut, ‘Fists in the Pocket’, was released over 50 years ago and had a huge impact on Italian cinema and storytelling at the time.
“I’m excited to be collaborating with Efthimis Filippou to revisit this iconic work to create a contemporary parable about the death of the traditional patriarchal family – which I hope will be touching and provocative in equal measure.
“It’s a dream come true to be working with such a dynamic ensemble of actors that I have long admired to bring this explosive adaptation to audiences today.”
‘Rosebushpruning’ is set to begin production in spring 2024.
Kristen achieved global stardom for her role as Bella Swan in the ‘Twilight’ film series and explained how she was taken aback by the success of the franchise.
Speaking on the Jess Cagle Podcast, the 33-year-old actress said: “I always want to remind people that [the first ‘Twilight’ movie was technically an indie] without diminishing it, or being like, ‘It was nothing!’
“We just did not know. And it was kind of like an oddball, slightly marginal teen movie. I didn’t think everyone was going to take to that. I didn’t think we were going to make a sequel.”

Rebel Wilson to make directorial debut on The Deb

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebel Wilson will make her directorial debut on ‘The Deb’.
The ‘Pitch Perfect’ actress is to get behind the camera on the musical comedy that is set in rural Australia.
Adapted from the hit musical of the same name, ‘The Deb’ follows loveable farm girl and high school outcast Taylah Simpkins who is certain that the forthcoming Debutante Ball, ‘the Deb’, is her big opportunity to redefine herself.
Her cynical city cousin Maeve is exiled to Taylor’s fictional drought-stricken town of Dunburn and thinks that the ball is a “heteronormative s***-show” prompting her to immediately disrupt the status quo.
In their search for the spotlight, Taylah and Maeve dig deep to find self-acceptance and a date to the Deb.
Rebel, 43, is set to co-star in the movie and will be joined by a cast of rising Australian stars including Natalie Abbott and Charlotte MacInnes.
The stage production originally premiered in Sydney last year and proved to be an instant hit in Australia. The musical was written by Hannah Reilly and includes original songs from Meg Washington.
Production on the movie is scheduled to begin Down Under in September.
Wilson said: “‘The Deb’ is my type of movie – full of humour, full of heart, and uniquely Australian but with universal themes. It came out of my scholarship programme at the non-profit Australian Theatre for Young People, a programme that I’m very proud of and has had incredible success.
“If there was ever a movie I was going to direct, it would be this one.”
She added: “This project is just so special and original. We’re utilising the best musical resources in the world and the most fantastic Australian talent to bring this project to the screen.”

Lisa Snowdon calls for perimenopause education in schools

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Snowdon believes perimenopause should be taught in schools to girls and boys, because it came as a “complete surprise” to her.
The 51-year-old TV presenter has admitted she was “totally uneducated” when she started having perimenopausal symptoms, because she hadn’t been taught about it in school and her mum or nan hadn’t discussed it with her.
Speaking on Dr. Zoe Williams’ ‘The Doctor Will Hear You Now’ podcast, she said: “I mean, you don’t get taught that at school do you? You get taught about puberty, and periods, and pregnancy, and then perimenopause/menopause is just never mentioned.
“You’re just sort of left to your own devices, just to try and figure it all out.
“My mum never spoke about it. My nan never spoke about it. I didn’t have any information from any of my older family members.
“So it was a complete surprise for me. I was totally uneducated and it’s been, you know, the last 10 years that I’ve had to find out for myself. Not only experiencing it, but just trying to learn from doctors and professionals and from other women.
“Everybody needs to learn it in school, boys definitely need to know, you know, their mums, their aunts, their sisters.
“That’s the thing as well, yes, it affects us women directly, I think it’s 52 per cent of the population, but indirectly, we’ve all got men that we know are people that we work with. So everybody needs to know about, it affects us all.”
But Lisa has now encouraged other women who might be approaching perimenopause not to worry or to “struggle alone or in silence”.
She added: “Firstly, don’t be scared. Don’t be scared, because we’re so much more informed these days, we’re so much more educated to recognise what’s happening to us, that you won’t have to struggle alone or in silence or to feel like you’re losing your mind.
“I don’t want you to be like, ‘oh, it’s coming, it’s coming, it’s coming’, because then you’re wasting your life and you’re not living in the moment.
“So read up about it, speak to your friends, speak to your loved ones as and when you’re starting to feel differently. ‘Things are changing’, have those conversations, don’t bottle things up.
“Speak to your friends, because if you’ve got friends of similar age, or even younger or older, we all have a very unique perimenopause journey, and at different ages as well. It can happen younger, it can happen older.”
Lisa Snowdon appears on the latest episode of ‘The Doctor Will Hear You Now’, out now. ‘The Doctor Will Hear You Now’ is produced by Insanity Podcasts, part of Insanity Group.

Amanda Holden backs Dermot O’Leary for Phillip Schofield’s This Morning job

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Holden has backed Dermot O’Leary to take over from Phillip Schofield on ‘This Morning’.
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge believes Dermot and Alison Hammond – who co-host the programme every Friday – do a “great job” on the ITV brunch-time show, which Phillip departed last weekend after 21 years.
While speaking on the ‘Heart Breakfast’ radio show, Amanda’s co-host Jamie Theakston asked her: “Do you think he’d be good to replace Schofe?”
Amanda replied: “Yes, I think him and Alison do a great job don’t they?”
It comes as Amanda claimed in June 2019 that Phillip had ignored her offer to meet for coffee, just days after she took a cheeky swipe at Phillip by naming him as one of the things she wouldn’t want to find in her house.
The comments fuelled rumours that there could be tensions between the pair who, on occasions, presented ‘This Morning’ together.
Amanda claimed that she had once extended an olive branch to Phillip, by suggesting they meet over coffee to iron out any differences, however, Amanda claimed he ignored her invitation and never replied to her text message.
Jamie asked her on the ‘Heart Breakfast’ show at the time: “You might have moved on but I just wanted to know, is there any more to the story?”
Amanda then replied: “I did offer to meet him for a coffee months ago, he didn’t reply to my text. What can I say?”
Jamie then said: “The olive branch had been extended.”
To which she replied: “Oh, yes.”
A week beforehand in June 2019, Amanda compared Phillip to a household pest, saying she wouldn’t want to discover spiders, flies or the TV presenter in her abode.
When asked on the breakfast show what she wouldn’t want to find inside her home, she said: “Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield.”

Jimmy Carr’s I Literally Just Told You returning for series 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Jimmy Carr’s gameshow ‘I Literally Just Told You’ is to return for a third series.
The 50-year-old comedian will be back to front the Channel 4 programme, which was created by former ‘Blue Peter’ presenter Richard Bacon, for another run.
Richard said: “I’m really excited it’s back and for even more episodes than ever before.
“We’re going to make it louder and weirder. How do I know that? I Literally Just etc etc”
Each episode sees contestants given the opportunity to compete for a cash prize of up to £25,000.
They are tasked with answering questions which have been written live as the show is filmed.
The questions can be about anything that happens during the show, including a celebrity cameo, an off-the-cuff joke, or even something a contestant has said about themselves.
Steven Handley who commissioned the series for Channel 4, believes the programme is one of the “most creative” quiz shows around.
He said: “‘I Literally Just Told You’ is one of the most creative quizzes on TV, so we are delighted Jimmy will return to throw more mind-bending memory questions at the audience for the show’s biggest run so far.”
Ben Wicks, Creative Director, Expectation – who produce the programme – said: “Hit show ‘I Literally Just Told You’ is back, as Jimmy Carr -the most forensic mind in comedy – demonstrates that peoples’ memories have been utterly shot to pieces.
“This is fantastic news, but having established that nobody can remember anything, I’m not sure why we are bothering with a press release.”

Marcel Theroux leading new Playboy Bunny Murders series for ITV

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV has announced new true crime series ‘The Playboy Bunny Murders’.
The new ITVX premium show will see Marcel Theroux investigating the disturbing unsolved murders of young women in 1970s as he discovers “a dark and violent side hidden beneath the wealth and glamour of exclusive corners of London’s nightlife at that time”.
The filmmaker and journalist has long been interested in the brutal deaths, and he returned to the killings of Playboy Bunny Eve Stratford, croupier Lynda Farrow and schoolgirl Lynne Weedon.
The series – which will be made up of two hour long episodes – looks to “unravel the mystery of the victims’ deaths, through unrivalled and exclusive access to friends, colleagues and relatives of the victims”.
They will provide “an intimate insight” into the women’s personalities, while archive material from the 1970s will paint a picture of Mayfair at the time.
Marcel said: “This is a story that has obsessed me for years. How could a serial killer kill multiple victims in 1970s London and remain unknown?
“What evidence was missed? What clues were the police of the time unable to make use of?
“As witnesses reach the ends of lives and memories fail, this might be the last chance to get justice for the three victims.”
During the programme, the journalist tries to track down police files while exmaining new breakthroughs and travelling the world to find key figures connected to the case.
The series – which has been commissioned for ITV by Jo Clinton Davis – Controller of Factual – has been produced by Soho Studios and Future Studios for ITVX.
Jo added: “These horrific, unsolved murders of three young women continue to raise so many disturbing questions that have remained unanswered for the best part of half a century.
“Marcel Theroux’s investigation promises to illuminate the dark side of 1970s Mayfair, which lay beneath its allure of decadence, glamour, status and wealth, provide an insight into the young victims whose lives were taken from them and bring us closer to the truth.”

Kathleen Kennedy hints at more Indiana Jones stories

OHMYGOSSIP — Kathleen Kennedy believes that the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchise could continue without Harrison Ford.
The 80-year-old actor will play the heroic archaeologist for the final time in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ but the Lucasfilm president did not rule out future adventures without the star.
Speaking on the Dagobah Dispatch podcast, Kathleen said: “It’s Harrison’s last entry. That’s how we look at the Indy franchise. I mean, truthfully, right now, if we were to do anything, it might be in serious television down the road, but we’re not doing anything to replace Indiana Jones. That is it.”
Ford has stated numerous times that the movie is his final bow as Indy and Kennedy has assured fans that the character will not be recast.
She explained: “There are five movies that Harrison Ford did. And Harrison is so specific and so unique to creating this role. We just, Steven (Spielberg) agrees, we just wouldn’t do that.”
Harrison has played Indy since the launch of the franchise in 1981 and relished the opportunity of one final outing as the hero in the new flick.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’d always wanted a final chapter in the story.
“We first started thinking about it quite a few years ago. My ambition – all of our ambition – was to come up with a story that dealt with the reality of his age because he was such a physical character.
“I wanted to see him diminished and revivified by whatever the storyline was and by whoever the characters were. And when we got the story that felt right to everybody, then we went ahead.”

Bryan Cranston compares Wes Anderson to an orchestra conductor

OHMYGOSSIP — Bryan Cranston has likened starring in a Wes Anderson film to being an instrument in an orchestra.
The 67-year-old actor features in the all-star ensemble cast of Anderson’s new movie ‘Asteroid City’ and compared the eccentric director to a conductor of music.
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, Bryan said: “It feels like Wes Anderson is a conductor of an orchestra. And all of us are players of our particular instrument.
“We hyper focus on our instrument and just present it without really knowing exactly how it’s all going to piece together. And he conducts – a little less Bryan, a little more Scarlett (Johansson) at this moment, or whatever, making the adjustments as he goes.”
Cranston plays the role of a television host in the 1950s-set movie and the star described it as Anderson’s “love letter to performance art” as it features both stage and screen mediums.
The ‘Breaking Bad’ star said: “It’s a movie about a television show doing a story on a theatre. And I think it’s Wes’ love letter to performance art. He’s wrapped his arms around the three major mediums we are involved in.”
Jason Schwartzman stars in ‘Asteroid City’ as Augie Steenbeck and credited the ‘Isle of Dogs’ filmmaker’s curiosity for his career success.
The star – who has featured in eight of Anderson’s movies – recalled: “I was 17 when we met (on ‘Rushmore’) and he was the first person that wasn’t in my family that was over the age of 20 that actually asked a question and cared what I said and was curious about what I was interested in.
“My feeling is that’s why we’re all here. Because (Wes) wants to know about all of us and he’s curious and he always sees things in us we do not see.”

EastEnders’ Danielle Harold: Lola’s brain tumour plot has been full on

OHMYGOSSIP — Danielle Harold says Lola Pearce’s brain tumour plot on ‘EastEnders’ has been “full on”.
The 30-year-old actress – who has played the 26-year-old hairdresser on and off since 2011 – admitted it is “sad” that her character is to meet her maker, especially leaving behind her 10-year-old daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown) and husband Jay (Jamie Borthwick).
But Danielle admitted she hasn’t had “much time” to consider the plot’s impact on her own future.
She told OK! magazine: “I was sad for Lola, and I’ve played her for such a long time. It’s crazy that it’s coming to an end now. But I’ve also been so busy because the storyline has been so full-on that I’ve not really had time to think about finishing or me going.
“I’m glad that I finally got to play so many bits of Lola’s life story that I’ve always wanted to do – we’ve rounded Lola up in a really lovely way this year. And it’s been such a privilege to do this storyline. I’ve been anxious about doing it properly and making sure I’ve done my best.”
Danielle admitted the hard-hitting BBC One soap storyline has been “very difficult” to portray.
She said: “The whole story has been hard with just how sad it is. Brain tumours are so awful, they affect so many. And watching people decline in that way… It’s been very difficult to play.”
The British Soap Award nominee revealed her relationship with her co-star Perry Fenwick – who plays Lola’s grandfather, market trader Billy Mitchell – is similar to their on-screen dynamic, because the 60-year-old actor feels “like her dad”.
Danielle said: “Perry’s literally like my dad, I’m like his adopted kid. I’m not sure if wanted me or not, but he’s stuck with me now.
“He was very emotional on my last day, it’s been tough. I’ll miss him, obviously, I’ll see him all the time, but I’ll miss getting to act with him every day.”

Jude Law wore ‘blood and faecal matter’ perfume on Firebrand set

OHMYGOSSIP — Jude Law wore a perfume of “blood and faecal matter” to smell like Henry VIII on the set of ‘Firebrand’.
The 50-year-old actor portrays the Tudor monarch in the historical drama that centres on Henry’s sixth and final wife Katherine Parr (Alicia Vikander) and came up with the revolting concoction to capture the odour of the king.
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival on Monday (22.05.23), Jude said: “I read several interesting accounts that you could smell Henry three rooms away. His leg was rotting so badly. He hid it with rose oil.
“I thought it would have a great impact if I smelt awful.”
The ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ star found a perfume specialist to create the disgusting blend of smells so he could authentically recreate the Tudor – who suffered from swollen ankles and leg ulcers in his later years.
Jude explained: “She makes wonderful scents, and she also makes awful scents. She somehow came up with this extraordinary variety of blood, faecal matter and sweat.”
The movie’s director Karim Ainouz had terrible memories of Jude’s stinky fragrance.
The filmmaker recalled: “When Jude walked in on set, it was just horrible.”
He added: “Initially. I used it very subtly and thought I’d use it myself. (But then) it became a spray-fest.”
Jude revealed that he removed the royal association to help him capture Henry VIII – who was famously married six times and had two of his wives beheaded – in the final years of his life.
The ‘Fantastic Beasts’ actor said: “I started with him as a man. The physical frailties he was carrying and how he dealt with those – he became not a recognisable, but an empathetic person.”

Michelle Rodriguez ready to pass on the Fast and Furious baton

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Rodriguez is ready to “pass the baton on” in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise.
The 44-year-old actress has played Letty Ortiz since the original movie in the high-speed series back in 2001 but is ready to take a “backseat” in the development of future stories as the new movie ‘Fast X’ marks the beginning of the saga’s finale.
Michelle told Variety: “You pass the baton on, you take the backseat, you go passenger side, you do all of these things.
“When it comes to the next generation you have to (sit shotgun) it’s the only way to let them define the future.”
‘Fast X’ marks the beginning of a two-part ending to the series although Vin Diesel recently hinted that it could actually be a trilogy and Michelle was unsurprised by her co-star’s suggestion.
Asked when she found out about the potential third film, the ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ actress said: “On tour. To be quite honest, he’s (Diesel) like that, he always does this kind of stuff but on tour, we found out.”
Michelle recently suggested that the money-spinning ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise could go in a number of possible directions.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “Right now it’s literally the throw up of all of the possibilities, all of the seeds planted throughout the years that have now flourished into trees.
“Now, it’s about pruning. We’re in the pruning process. All of the ideas are flying by and all of the input is being thrown in.”

Piers Morgan: Daytime TV is infested by a pack of savages

OHMYGOSSIP — Piers Morgan has claimed daytime TV is “infested by a pack of savages”, following Phillip Schofield’s ‘This Morning’ send-off.
The TalkTV presenter – who infamously fell out with ITV bosses when he refused to apologise for on-air comments made about Duchess Meghan during his time as ‘Good Morning Britain’ host, leading to him quitting the show and channel – says it is “ruthless” how TV talent is axed.
Speaking on Times Radio, Piers said: “Anyone who thinks daytime telly is full of smiley, nicey, happy clappy people; I think they are beginning to realise it is infested by a pack of savages.
“There is nothing more ruthless than the way talent, as we so laughably get called in TV, get treated when the plug gets pulled.”
It comes after ‘This Morning’ co-hosts Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond paid tribute to Phillip in a short segment lasting less than a minute on Monday (22.05.23), following his 21 years on the show.
Piers believes Phillip was “entitled to a better send-off”.
He said: “I do think, after 20-odd years on ‘This Morning’, winning awards every year, whatever has gone on behind the scenes, he was entitled to a better send-off.
“But then, I thought I was too at ‘Good Morning Britain’ for breaking all the ratings records and making the show the most talked-about show in the country – but that’s showbiz. And showbiz is a shallow pool of shark-infested waters.”
Piers recently ruled himself out of taking over from Phillip on the ‘This Morning’ sofa.
He wrote on Twitter: “Thanks to everyone suggesting I might replace Philip Schofield at This Morning in a Lazarus-like comeback to ITV.
“Unfortunately, there’s just one problem: I still don’t believe a single word Meghan Markle says!”
