New Love Island bombshell Zachariah Noble believes in ‘love at first sight’

OHMYGOSSIP — Zachariah Noble believes in “love at first sight”.
The new ‘Love Island’ bombshell – who will enter the villa tonight (06.06.23) and be able to steal any girl in the villa from their partner – has insisted love is “something that happens” naturally rather than being forced.
Before heading into the villa, the personal trainer said: “”I do believe in love at first sight, I think that you can sense people’s energies as soon as you meet them.
“Love isn’t something you pick to be in, it’s something that happens when it happens…
“I wouldn’t say I’m closed off but I like things to be really natural and organic.”
While he isn’t there to cause drama, he does want to find the right woman for him.
Asked why he signed up to the ITV dating show, the 25-year-old romantic explained how he wants to step out of his “comfort zone”.
He added: “I always say, ‘you only grow as a person when you take yourself out of your comfort zone’ and I think it’s something that’s so far out of my comfort zone, I’d be silly not to give it a go.”
He also claimed he’ll bring a “rare” trait to the villa.
He said: “I’m a very chilled out guy and I’m completely myself 100 percent of the time…
“In this day and age, I think being genuine is rare and I’m very genuine. What you see is what you get.”
The show returned to ITV2 on Monday (05.06.23) and after revealing all of the initial Islanders had been coupled up by the public, host Maya Jama allowed the girls not entirely happy with their partners to nominate themselves as single before revealing Zachariah’s twist.
She said: “Now, I know you didn’t choose your partners because the public did that for you. Sometimes you have to follow your heart which means you have to take a risk. Ask yourself this – are you happy or could you be happier? I have the ultimate dare for you! Girls, if you’re not sure you’re with the right person, I dare you to step forward now!”
Jess Harding – who had initially been paired up with George Fensom – stepped forward after hinting that she wasn’t entirely happy, adding: “I just don’t think there’s that connection there. Everything that someone else could could be there but it’s not for me.”
‘Love Island’ continues tomorrow at 9PM on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player, proudly sponsored by Virgin Media Mobile.
The reality show can also be seen on ITV2.

Jeremy Clarkson admits new Grand Tour series cover ‘scary ground’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson has teased “slightly scary ground” for the next two seasons of ‘The Grand Tour’.
The former ‘Top Gear’ host will once again be back with co-stars James May and Richard Hammond for new series ‘The Grand Tour: Eurotrash’ as they tackle a 1,400-mile trip from Gdansk in Poland, through Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia.
Speaking before the new season on Amazon Prime Video, Jeremy said: “For the next one – in fact, the next two – we’re back on slightly scary ground, doing things that we used to do when we were in our 30s and 40s. But now we’re in our 50s and 60s, so I’m slightly nervous about the next two.
“Let’s just say we’re going back to Africa, and this one’s a hard one. It’s hard if you’re young and fit, but I’m really not fit. I’m very fat. And I’m 63 now.”
Richard previously admitted the trio are in “real peril” when they tackle the show’s epic stunts as things can always “go wrong”, even on television.
James admitted there is a “massive contrast” between the upcoming series, and joked one part in particular could “finish Clarkson off”.
He added: “We’ve got some interesting cars to drive. There’s going to be a massive contrast with this east European one. Where we’re going next is quite tough, with camping, which might finish Clarkson off.
“Hammond will love it because he loves camping. I’m pretty excited about it because it’s a bit of the world I’ve never been to, it’s slightly dangerous and edgy.”
Meanwhile, Richard admitted the three presenters “really enjoyed” the European trip.
He said: “I think we had some real moments of genuine friendship and joy when we were making each other laugh properly.
“And I think it’s going to be compelling to watch. It’s lovely when three people who have known each other that long can still reduce each other to tears of laughter.
“That sounded a bit soppy but it’s true. There were some really spontaneous moments. There were certain scenes where we knew there would be something there, but we didn’t know what, and it just unfolded naturally, which is lovely.”
‘The Grand Tour’ returns to Amazon Prime Video on June 16.

Melissa Barrera aims to explore her dark side in next Scream film

OHMYGOSSIP — Melissa Barrera is desperate to explore her character’s dark side in the next ‘Scream’ film.
The 32-year-old actress features in the slasher franchise as Sam Carpenter – the daughter of the original movie’s killer Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) – and the chance to explore the evil side of her alter ego’s personality appeals to the star.
Melissa told Digital Spy: “There are so many places that Sam could go. That’s one of the reasons that, when I read the script for ‘Scream 5’, I was so interested in the character.
“There’s so much potential here of where she could go with her mental health – she’s just unpredictable. I find that the darkness in her makes her that much more interesting to play and to watch. She’s the hero but she’s also kind of the villain.”
The ‘Carmen’ star added: “It’s this contradiction in her that I find fascinating and, if we get to do another one, I would love to see. The writers have done a really good job with her up until this point, so I trust them just to know where to take her (in a way) that will be unexpected and cool for the fans.”
Melissa is set to star in the film ‘Your Monster’ – which will be released next year – and explained how the picture blends a wide range of genres.
She said: “I shot a movie in February, in Hoboken. It’s called ‘Your Monster’ and it’s a horror rom-com musical. My character is a musical theatre actor, so there’s a musical in the movie. There’s a lot of singing and dancing in it.
“And it’s like a rom-com with elements of horror. It’s scary at times, and really funny at times. And it’s everything that I love in a movie combined into one. So I’m excited to see how that turns out.”

Sam Hargrave ecstatic with Idris Elba casting in Extraction 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Hargrave is amazed that Idris Elba agreed to feature in ‘Extraction 2’.
The ‘Luther’ star has a surprise part in the Netflix action sequel and Sam revealed that he couldn’t believe that writer Joe Russo and Chris Hemsworth were able to convince him to join the movie.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Sam said: “It was a little bit of all the above, meaning we knew Joe had always wanted to expand the ‘Extraction’ universe, and to populate it with super talented actors who could carry their own movies in this universe and start their own franchises.
“It just so happened that Chris Hemsworth knew a very talented actor in Idris Elba, and when he reached out and when Idris said, ‘Yes’, we were all just like, ‘Oh my gosh, we got to see where this goes.'”
Sam hailed the “sparkling” chemistry between the two actors and relished having the chance to film with Hemsworth and Elba.
The Marvel stuntman said: “Then, it just worked so well, the two of them sparkle on screen, there’s a chemistry that you can feel, it’s palpable, and it’s such a great thing to watch.
“Shooting with those two was such a pleasure every time we got them together. It was only a couple of days, because Idris was in and out, but that time was really fun, those two get along really great and have a special chemistry on screen.”
Sam revealed that he already has ideas for a third ‘Extraction’ film so long as audiences enjoy the sequel with Hemsworth’s mercenary Tyler Rake.
He told BroBible: “We’re kind of waiting to see how the second movie is received. Fingers crossed, if people enjoy the second one, there already is – and this is without spoiling anything – but there is a story in development for a third movie in the works. What it is exactly, I can’t say right now, but I believe there is another adventure in the wind for Tyler Rake.”

Catherine Agbaje stolen from André Furtado on Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Zacharia Noble has chosen to couple up with Catherine Agbaje on ‘Love Island’.
The 26-year-old personal trainer – who hails from South East London – appeared as a bombshell arrival during the first episode of the new series ITV2’s hit reality dating show on Monday (05.06.23) night and was given the power to choose a girl, eventually opting to steal 22-year-old commercial real estate agent Catherine Agbaje from semi-professional footballer André Furtado and leaving him at risk of being dumped from the show altogether.
Speaking at the end of Tuesday’s episode, he said: “The reason that I want to couple up with this individual is that the conversations we’ve had have been very easy andit all felt very natural. She is also a very beautiful person. The girl I’d like to couple up with is Catherine.”
Upon Zacharia’s announcement, Catherine jumped up from her place at the fire pit and the pair embraced.
Earlier in the episode, the Islanders had been tasked to take part in a challenge that saw them reveal their own “wary tales” aboard a storybook setting, during which beauty clinic owner Jess Harding spilled that she had had drunken sex in a portable toilet, whilst gas engineer Mitchel Taylor – who is currently coupled up with Molly Marsh – caused a stir when it emerged that he once been dated three girls at the same time.
He said: “I didn’t have the balls to end it so I just kept adding on. I’m a changed man, though! I don’t do that anymore. I haven’t done that for like seven months.”
Molly said to the girls after the game: “It boiled my blood. The fact that Mitch had three girls on the go at once!”
In a confessional, Mitchel said: ” will explain to her. Whether she wants to listen is a different story.”
‘Love Island’ continues tomorrow at 9PM on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player, proudly sponsored by Virgin Media Mobile.

Charlie Brooks lands stage role after EastEnders exit

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ star Charlie Brooks is swapping Albert Square for the West End stage.
The actress left her role as evil Janine Butcher in the BBC soap over Christmas and now six months on from her explosive exit, Charlie has revealed she will be starring in a production of ‘The Ocean at the End of the Lane’ – a theatre adaption of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel.
Charlie confirmed the good news in a post on Instagram, telling fans she’s fulfilling a lifelong dream of taking to the stage in London’s famed theatre district. She wrote: “My childhood dream of being in the west end is going to happen, after 25 years in this industry and I can’t wait.
“I couldn’t have hoped for a more magical, meaningful, wild and wonderful production to be part of.”
Charlie will be a part of the cast of the National Theatre production when it returns to London’s West End in October following a UK tour.

Sean Bean joins The Yellow Tie

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean Bean has joined the cast of new movie ‘The Yellow Tie’.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ star has signed up to appear in the film about controversial classical conductor Sergiu Celibidache opposite Miranda Richardson and John Malkovich, who will play the Romanian music maestro who overcame homelessness to become the youngest ever conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in Germany.
‘The Book Thief’ star Ben Schnetzer has also joined the cast to play a younger version of the conductor after Rupert Friend was forced to drop out of the role due to scheduling conflicts, according to Variety.
‘The Yellow Tie’ will be directed by Celibidache’s son, Serge Ioan Celebidachi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with James Olivier. It will tell the story of the famed conductor, who was kicked out of his home by his father after confessing his dream to pursue a career in music.
He experienced homelessness and after surviving World War II, he rose to become one of the most prominent conductors in Europe.
The film’s cast list also boasts another ‘Game of Thrones’ star – Anton Lesser – as well as ‘Downton Abbey”s Kate Phillips and ‘Rocketman’ actor Charlie Rowe.
Production is underway and ‘The Yellow Tie’ is scheduled to start shooting in in Bucharest, Romania later this month.
It comes after Cate Blanchette’s fictional conductor drama ‘Tar’ became one of the big hitters at this year’s Academy Awards, with the film scooping six nominations including Best Picture.
Another conductor-inspired film ‘Maestro’ stars Bradley Cooper as Leonard Bernstein and it’s due to be released via streaming giant Netflix later this year.

Chris Hemsworth finds it ‘super depressing’ that Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino criticise Marvel

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth says it’s “super depressing” to hear that his “heroes” Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino have criticised Marvel movies when the film business, in general, is in a state of “fragility”.
The legendary filmmakers have been critical of superhero films and the 39-year-old actor, who has played Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is gutted that his idols have mocked the money-spinning studio and he hopes they’d still want to work with him.
He told GQ: “That’s super depressing when I hear that.
“There goes two of my heroes I won’t work with. I guess they’re not a fan of me.”
The ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ star admits that being a Marvel star could impact his chances of landing roles in other films when he hangs up Thor’s hammer.
He said of his future and the comments by Scorsese and Tarantino: “I’m thankful that I have been a part of something that kept people in cinemas.
“Now, whether or not those films were to the detriment of other films, I don’t know. I don’t love when we start scrutinising each other when there’s so much fragility in the business and in this space of the arts as it is.”
He added: “In a heartbeat, I would leap to work with any of them. But I say it more to the broader opinion around that topic. I don’t think any of us have the answer, but we’re trying.”
‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Kill Bill’ helmer Tarantino has said that Marvel stars are not real movie stars.
He told the ‘2 Bears, 1 Cave’ podcast: “You have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters.
“But they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that. I think that’s been said a zillion times … but it’s like, you know, it’s these franchise characters that become a star.”
Speaking to Empire magazine previously, Scorsese said: “Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks.
“It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”

Ernie Hudson learned to ‘love and appreciate’ Ghostbusters thanks to Afterlife

OHMYGOSSIP — Ernie Hudson learned to “love and appreciate” ‘Ghostbusters’ more after returning for ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’.
The 77-year-old actor has previously spoken of how he felt sidelined when he played Winston Zeddemore in the 1984 film and its 1989 sequel but he has admitted reprising the role again for the 2021 movie gave him satisfaction.
Asked if returning for ‘Afterlife’ had changed his relationship to ‘Ghostbusters’, he told Total Film magazine: “I’ve always loved being part of it, but I really learned to love and appreciate the film.
“What parts were taken out or whatever – I just felt like it was a perfect little movie.
“Once we came back to it, [director] Jason Reitman especially, went above and beyond to let me know how much he appreciated the character. Fans always have.
“ ‘Ghostbusters’ has really been some part of my life every day for the past 40 years.’ ”
Ernie recalled feeling “turned upside down” following the success of the original ‘Ghostbusters’ and despite feeling excluded in some ways, such as being omitted from promotional posters, he insisted he never expected the “same treatment” as his co-stars.
He said:” It would not have taken much for Winston to have been more included.
“There were parts where I felt there was a deliberate attempt to not include him.
“And I had to process that.
“But these guys were stars. I wasn’t. I was hustling and trying to get a job, so I did not expect the same treatment.
“There are a lot of assumptions that if you’re in a major movie, your career will take off.
“None of that happened.
“So it was a period where I was sort of turned upside down.”
The ‘Champions’ actor has never “gotten bored” with acting so never felt the urge to step behind the camera.
He said: “I grew up in a little town in Michigan and the fact we had no money… I just felt that in order to accomplish anything, it was on me.
“But I also never felt like I had the option of not staying focused, it’s a career that has absolutely no guarantees.
“I have a lot of friends who are now in producing and directing who started out acting.
“They all reached a point where they got bored with acting. I’ve never gotten bored.”

Production halted on Jennifer Lopez’s Unstoppable

OHMYGOSSIP — Production has halted on Jennifer Lopez’s new movie ‘Unstoppable’.
The 53-year-old is starring in the new sports drama, which is produced by her husband Ben Affleck, 50, but shooting has stopped indefinitely amid the Hollywood Writers Strike, according to Deadline.
The movie was filming in Los Angeles earlier this week when it was disrupted by picketing strikers.
The movie will tell the true story of Anthony Robles, a three-time All-American athlete born with one leg who won a national championship at Arizona State University.
Ben’s production company Artists Equity, which he co-founded with close friend Matt Damon, is producing ‘Unstoppable’. William Goldberg – who has edited a number of movies for Affleck – is making his debut as a director on the film.
‘Unstoppable’ is the first collaboration between Jennifer and Ben following their wedding last year but she previously made an impact on his movie ‘Air’ – which chronicles Nike’s relationship with basketball icon Michael Jordan.
‘The Tender Bar’ star told The Hollywood Reporter: “I started writing and working with Matt, and Jen gave me some great lines too.
“Oh my God, she’s brilliant. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the way fashion evolves through the culture as a confluence of music, sports, entertainment and dance.
“She helped me in talking about the way in which a part of the reason why Jordans (the shoes) were so meaningful is because culture and style in America is 90 per cent driven by black culture. Black culture has historically pioneered music, dance, fashion, and it’s then been stolen, appropriated, remarketed as Elvis or whatever.”
Affleck continued: “And in this case, (Nike) a white-run corporate entity, was starting to do business with African-American athletes in an identity affiliation sales thing.
“They were really taking value from what Michael Jordan represents and who he is. I don’t think the meaning can be overstated. They’re going to switch from, ‘Hey, guys, we are a nice shoe,’ to ‘If Mike has it, you want it.'”

Tobias Menzies joins cast of Brad Pitt’s Apple movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Tobias Menzies has joined the cast of Brad Pitt’s Apple Formula One movie.
The 49-year-old actor – who played Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in the third and fourth seasons of Netflix series ‘The Crown’ – will play an undisclosed role in the film, according to Apple.
Kerry Condon and Damson Idris have already signed up to the movie.
The film stars Pitt, 59, “as a former driver who returns to the sport” of Formula One, while Idris, 31, joins the movie as his teammate.
The director of the untitled film is set to be Joseph Kosinski, 48, the filmmaker behind ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, while action film veteran Jerry Bruckheimer, 78, will co-produce.
F1 champion Sir Lewis Hamilton has been recruited by film bosses as a consultant to train Brad for the Apple Studios movie.
Hamilton’s duties include teaching the A-lister everything he needs to know about motorsport, as well as lessons on how to get to grips with a 200mph-plus F1 car.
Hamilton will receive an executive producer credit for his work on the title.
Kosinski has previously promised “in-camera thrills” on the upcoming movie, as he revealed that he will be using effects created solely by the camera to make viewers feel like they are behind the wheel at 200mph.

Riley Keough didn’t think she’d be ‘taken seriously’ in movie business

OHMYGOSSIP — Riley Keough didn’t think she’d be “taken seriously” in Hollywood.
The 34-year-old star is the granddaughter of late music icon Elvis Presley – her mother is the late Lisa Marie Presley and her ex-husband Danny Keough – and she started her movie career in 2010 at the age of 20 in the supporting role in the musical biopic ‘The Runaways’ as Marie Currie.
Riley went on to have parts in 2011’s ‘The Good Doctor’ and 2012’s ‘Magic Mike’ before landing a role in the 2015 blockbuster ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’.
And despite her family’s connections to the industry, the actress admits she never expected to be given so many offers for roles.
She told The Guardian newspaper that she’s had “Amazing opportunities! I walked into agencies, met with agents.”
However, she admitted: “I felt that I wouldn’t be taken seriously.”
The ‘Daisy and The Six’ star’s latest project was co-directing ‘War Pony’ with Gina Gammell, both of whom made their directional debuts with the drama.
The flick won the Caméra d’Or, which is awarded for the best first feature film, at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
However, it nearly didn’t happen.
The flick “Follows the intertwined lives of two young Lakota boys living on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.”
Riley said: “There wasn’t anxiety because we didn’t even know if this was a real thing. Nobody in Pine Ridge thought this was a real movie. A lot of us thought it was going to go nowhere.”
While it features indigenous actors, the crew members that were not Native Americans received “cultural competency” lessons.

Caroline Flack’s mother shares support for Schofield

OHMYGOSSIP — Caroline Flack’s mother has shown her support for Phillip Schofield.
Phillip, 61, recently revealed during a BBC interview that he has been left feeling suicidal since “losing everything” amid his ‘This Morning’ exit and Caroline’s mother Christine has publicly shared her support for Phillip.
She told BBC’s ‘Newsnight’: “It’s bad enough when it’s in private, but when it’s in every single paper and first thing on the news. It’s just ridiculous. Wait to see what happens.
“Let’s hope for the best. I send my regard to Phillip and the young lad, and hope they get over this. Don’t do anything silly. You’ve got your daughters, you’ve got your friends.”
Caroline died by suicide in 2020 after hearing she was going to be prosecuted for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend and her mother insisted ITV – who Caroline hosted ‘Love Island’ for – have not learned anything from her death.
She said: “They haven’t learned anything. They haven’t.
“But they’re not commodities, they’re people. And they’re employed. And if my employer didn’t take care of me, there’d be all hell to pay. And there’s not. They’re just sidelined, and they’re not protected.”
Meanwhile, Phillip recently insisted his daughters, Molly, 30, and 27-year-old Ruby, are the only reason he is still alive.
He told the BBC: “I have brought myself down. I am done. I have to talk about television in the past tense which breaks my heart. But it continues and it is relentless and it is day after day after day after day and if you do that, then don’t think that is going to have the most catastrophic effect on someone’s mind…do you want me to die? Because that’s where I am. I have lost everything.
“My girls saved my life. They said last week…they hadn’t left me for a moment, they’d been by my side every moment because they’re scared to let me out of their sight. What is that like for daughters to have to go through something like that? And they said to me ‘Don’t you dare do this on our watch, we’re supposed to be looking after you!’ And if my girls hadn’t been there, I wouldn’t be here because I don’t see a future. And so how much do you want a man to take, and are you truly only happy when he’s dead? This is how Caroline Flack felt.”

Simon Rimmer blasts ‘cruel’ Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Rimmer has blasted ‘Love Island’ as “cruel”.
The 60-year-old celebrity chef revealed his 25-year-old daughter Flo rejected an invitation from TV bosses to appear on the programme.
He told MailOnline: “My daughter got invited to go on it. Basically, they picked her up from Instagram because she has quite a big following because she has done stuff with me online and she turned it down.
“She’s very much not a ‘Love Island’ kind of person. But I thought it was a weird approach really. She is so not a ‘Love Island’ person.
“I wouldn’t say it would be my dream job for her. But if she decided to do it she would do it for the right reasons, she wouldn’t do it to find love she would be like ‘you know what, this could be a career opportunity,’ she’s quite savvy so she would do it for those reasons rather than thinking, ‘I’m going to find love,’ but I don’t think any of them really think that do they?”
‘Sunday Brunch’ star Simon also admitted he finds the show a “hard watch”.
He continued: “I find it a hard watch. I find it cruel. I also think it is a massive step back for feminism and women.
“I don’t think it’s what I want young people to be doing and how I want males to behave or the way females to behave.”
He would also be against his son Hamish, 20, joining the show.
He said: “It feels a bit weird that we’re still having girls being treated like objects and I don’t like that objectification.
“As a father of a daughter I don’t think I would want… I don’t want my son to behave in a way like that towards women and I don’t want my daughter to be treated that way by men.”

Joe Swash is Love Island star’s ideal man

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’s Molly Marsh has a crush on Joe Swash.
The 24-year-old blonde beauty revealed she envies Joe’s happy marriage to Stacey Solomon and would love to find someone with the same “energy” as him in the villa.
She told The Mirror: “I think looks wise, it kind of comes from their personality because I don’t really have a type looks wise.
“I love a cheeky chap. I like someone like Joe Swash – so someone with a ‘jack the lad’ type of humour and a cheeky guy with a nice smile. He needs to be very down to earth and not think too much of himself. Not someone with a big ego.
“And also someone who takes me for me. Someone who accepts me for me.
“I think it’s ideal timing and the perfect way to find someone. I don’t go out and party and I don’t use dating apps, I’m actually quite old-fashioned, so there’s no better way to meet someone than by going into a villa in the sun with the potential ‘one’ in there.”
Molly – whose mother is ‘Coronation Street’ star Janet Marsh – also revealed her dream ‘Love Island’ contestant is Teddy Soares.
She said: “There’s a few! I feel like every year when you watch it, I have my list of exactly what I would have done. My family also always guess.
“I absolutely loved Teddy – he was beautiful and seemed so kind. I also really liked Ron [Hall] from the last season, so I would have probably couple-up up with him.”

Linda Robson ‘wants to be suffocated with a pillow’ if she develops dementia

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Robson wants to be “suffocated with a pillow” by her children if she ever develops dementia.
The 65-year-old presenter’s mother Rita, suffered from dementia and stomach cancer before she died aged 75, in 2021, and Linda has revealed her fears of suffering a similar fate.
Speaking about her children – Roberta, 27, Louis, 31, and Lauren, 40 – Linda told The Mirror: “I said in the meeting [with ‘Loose Women’ producers], ‘I want them to put a pillow over my face” and they said ”you can’t say that on TV’.
“That’s what I feel like. That’s my biggest fear – dementia.
“Some friends’ mums have died of it, my mum died of it. She went down to five stone. She was Catholic Irish and would have been traumatised if she knew she was having bed baths.
“I told my kids to put me in a home. You hear of horror stories of people in old people’s homes so its always best to make sure your relatives are OK.”
However, she refuses to be tested for early signs of dementia, the term for several diseases that affect memory, thinking, and the ability to perform daily activities.
She said: “I would rather not know if I had it. I start worrying if I’m putting strange things in the fridge.
“My mum would still be shopping for a big family and I’d go ‘Mum there’s only you and Johnny now, you don’t need to do all this shopping.’
“Then she would forget she’d cooked a chicken and she’d be making lamb chops so I’d be like ‘there’s chicken in the oven’.”
