Disney refuse to rule out Pirates of the Caribbean return for Johnny Depp

OHMYGOSSIP — Disney have not ruled out a potential ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ return for Johnny Depp.
The 59-year-old actor was axed as Captain Jack Sparrow by the company in 2018 in a bid to bring a “new energy” to the franchise but Disney Studios Motion Picture president Sean Bailey hasn’t shut down the prospect of the actor coming back for a sixth movie.
In an interview with The New York Times newspaper, Bailey said: “We think we have a really good, exciting story that honours the films that have come before but also has something new to say.”
Quizzed on whether Depp would be part of the movie, Bailey answered by saying that the studio was “noncommittal at this point”.
Jerry Bruckheimer produced all the movies in the franchise and revealed last year that he would “love” to see Depp return to the series after winning his defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard – although he insisted that Disney would have the final say on the decision.
The 79-year-old movie producer told The Hollywood Reporter: “You’d have to ask them. I can’t answer that question. I really don’t know.
“I would love to have him in the movie. He’s a friend, a terrific actor, and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do.”
Bruckheimer – who has produced blockbusters including ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ and ‘Top Gun’ – also confirmed that the character of Captain Jack Sparrow would never be killed off.
He said: “You can’t. We tried to kill him. It didn’t work.”
Johnny had mentioned during last year’s trial that he was saddened not to get the chance to say farewell to Jack Sparrow after almost 20 years of playing the pirate.
The ‘Edward Scissorhands’ star said: “My feeling was that these characters should be able to have their proper goodbye, as it were.
“A franchise can only last for so long, and there’s a way to end a franchise like that, and I thought that the characters deserved to have their way out, to end the franchise on a very good note. I planned on continuing until it was time to stop.”

James Wan: Aquaman sequel will address climate change

OHMYGOSSIP — James Wan has revealed that climate change will feature as a plot point in ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’.
The 46-year-old director returns behind the camera on the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) sequel – which is slated for release in December – and promised a more “serious” tone than the original as environmental themes will be addressed.
James told The Hollywood Reporter: “I think people are going to be excited to see that this movie is quite different from the first movie in terms of tone. It’s a little bit more serious, and we’re dealing with issues like climate change.
“We’re not afraid to lean into that in a big way, because the ‘Aquaman’ comic book, even way back when, has always been environmentally conscious. He’s always been someone who’s fought to keep the ocean clean, and it feels more relevant in the world that we’re living in today.
“So this movie has something to talk about, but it’s still a fun action-fantasy movie.”
DC Studios has seen upheaval over the past year as James Gunn and Peter Safran became co-chairs of the company and the ‘Saw’ co-creator found it challenging to keep track of the change at times.
Wan said: “I’ve had to make adjustments all along the way. The DCU has been through lots of different versions, and one of the things that was challenging about this film was keeping track of what’s going on.
“Fortunately, the ‘Aquaman’ universe is pretty far removed from the rest of the world. We’re going to many different underwater kingdoms that are not necessarily related to what’s happening with the other movies and characters, so we’re stand-alone in that respect.
“So I can just tell my story on its own without being affected too much, but at the same time, I have to be mindful of what’s been happening.”

‘Expect the unexpected!’ Love Island launches with HUGE new twist

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ is to launch with a huge new twist.
The latest series of the hit reality dating show – which is hosted by Maya Jama – will return to ITV2 tonight and will see both the boys and girls enter the Mallorcan villa together for the first time ever.
Ruchee and Jess are joined by Mitchell, Ella and André as they get to know each other in what has been called one of the show’s “most flirtatious first episodes” ever.
After making her entrance, Maya chats to the contestants about their hopes for a partner.
She says: “Hello my lovelies! Do you want to head over to the firepit for a chat?”
Model Ella tells Maya: “Looks wise, I’d say tall with nice teeth”
Ruchee agrees and adds: “Height, fashion-sense and someone I can bring home to my family because I’m so family-orientated.”
Jess says: “My type’s a pretty boy, with Turkey teeth!”
Maya tells the Islanders: “Well you have all had a bit of time to get to know each other, however, I have got some news…”
It is then that Maya explains to them that their fates have already been sealed by the public in a world-first for the series, as viewers have been voting for who they would like to see coupled up together from the start.
As the Islanders look stunned, Ella admits that she doesn’t know what to expect just before the voting results are revealed.
Once all the Islanders are coupled up, Maya – who replaced former host Laura Whitmore for the winter version of the series earlier this year and is now gearing up to front her first summer batch of episodes – makes her exit from the Villa as she says: “I think it’s fair to say on ‘Love Island’ you should 100% expect the unexpected!”
‘Love Island’ airs tonight at 9PM on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player, proudly sponsored by Virgin Media Mobile.
The reality show can also be seen on ITV2.

Love Island reveals ANOTHER twist ahead of show’s second night

OHMYGOSSIP — Zachariah Noble will get to choose whichever girl he likes on ‘Love Island’.
The hit reality dating show returned to ITV2 on Monday (05.06.23) and following the new twist that all of the initial Islanders had been coupled up by the public, host Maya Jama allowed the girls not entirely happy with their partners to nominate themselves as single before revealing that the 25-year-old bombshell arrival would have the power to choose one of them or any of the other girls.
Maya said: “Now, I know you didn’t choose your partners because the public did that for you. Sometimes you have to follow your heart which means you have to take a risk. Ask yourself this – are you happy or could you be happier? I have the ultimate dare for you! Girls, if you’re not sure you’re with the right person, I dare you to step forward now!”
Jess Harding – who had initially been paired up with George Fensom – stepped forward after previously hinting that she wasn’t entirely happy with the 24-year-old business development.
She said: “I just don’t think there’s that connection there. Everything that someone else could could be there but it’s not for me.”
Elsewhere, model Ella was challenged to have a dance-off with Medhi – who had been coupled up with Ruchee – despite already having been paired up with Tyrique, who it turned out had already met from a previous night out and also stepped forward to nominate herself as single.
Upon his arrival, Zacharia declared: “I’m Zach, 25 years old from East London. I reckon heads are gonna turn when I go into the villa. Drama definitely follows me around but I just want to find my queen. I do like what I see, I do I do I do”
Maya revealed to him and the Islanders: “You’ll get to steal one of these girls in front of you, not just the girls that are single. And that will leave one boy at risk of leaving the Island.”
Meanwhile, 26-year-old gas engineer Mitchel Taylor thought the public has done a “really good job” at choosing the couples after he found himself coupled up with social media content creator Molly Marsh, and she appeared to reciprocate his feelings
He said: “The public has done a really good job, I just want to get to know her now. “I’m really really picky. Her name’s gotta be Molly.”
Molly said: “Oh my goodness. I think we’re smashing it. I love someone who is cheeky. You are so cheeky. I am so happy I’m coupled up. Straight away, I saw he was a cheeky guy and that’s what I look for so I am very happy.”
However, during a game of non-alcoholic beer pong, Mitchel was challenged to kiss the girls he fancied the most and chose to pucker up with Jess, who remarked that he “didn’t seem that bothered” about Molly after kissing her.”
‘Love Island’ continues tomorrow at 9PM on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player, proudly sponsored by Virgin Media Mobile.
The reality show can also be seen on ITV2.

Christopher Nolan wrote entire Oppenheimer script in first person

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher Nolan wrote his ‘Oppenheimer’ script in the first person.
The acclaimed filmmaker – who is known for his work directing the likes of ‘Inception’, ‘Interstellar’ and the ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy – made a big change to his creative procession in the development of his new film about J. Robert Oppenheimer, the man who led the Manhattan Project in making the atomic bomb.
He told Empire magazine: “I actually wrote in the first-person, which I’ve never done before. I don’t know if anyone’s ever done it before.
“But the point of it is, with the colour sequences, which is the bulk of the film, everything is told from Oppenheimer’s point of view — you’re literally kind of looking through his eyes.”
Nolan even went as far as using Oppenheimer’s voice for stage directions, character descriptions and setting details, which he admitted was an “odd thing to do”.
He added: “But it was a reminder to me of how to shoot the film. It was a reminder to everybody involved in the project, ‘Okay, this is the point of view of every scene.’
“I wanted to really go through this story with Oppenheimer; I didn’t want to sit by him and judge him. That seemed a pointless exercise. That’s more the stuff of documentary, or political theory, or history of science.
“This is a story that you experience with him — you don’t judge him. You are faced with these irreconcilable ethical dilemmas with him.”
Cillian Murphy plays Oppenheimer in the film, and he wanted the film to be able to “engage people” in a way many movies fail to do.
He explained: “There’s the idea of how we get in somebody’s head and see how they were visualizing this radical reinvention of physics.
“One of the things that cinema has struggled with historically is the representation of intelligence or genius. It very often fails to engage people.”

Catherine Tate admits Doctor Who return delayed new sitcom Queen of Oz

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine Tate has admitted her ‘Doctor Who’ return delayed her new sitcom ‘Queen of Oz’.
The 53-year-old actress stars as Queen Georgiana – a member of a fictional royal family sent away to be Australia’s Head of State after various tabloid scandals – in the upcoming BBC One show, but her decision to reprise her role as Donna Noble in the sci-fi favourite meant production was pushed back.
She’s quoted by RadioTimes.com as saying at a press event: “It took a while to develop. Then it got green-lit and COVID happened. Then – I know I’m not supposed to talk about it – but ‘Doctor Who’ happened.
“So every time it just kept getting pushed back and back and back. And we ended up not shooting it until last autumn.”
Development first began on the sitcom in 2017 with the show pitched for a Canadian audience, but the show was commissioned years later after the setting was switched to Down Under.
The programme faced another delay when Catherine joined David Tennant and ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner Russell T Davies for filming on the show’s 60th anniversary episodes between May and July last year.
The delays mean the idea of a royal family surrounded with scandal feels rather timely, but the star insisted the story was devised a long time ago and the family featured in the series is entirely fictitious.
She said: “We were supposed to do this originally before COVID. And then of course, it got put back and then events took [place] that I obviously have no control over.
“And of course, it’s landing now… but I hope it’s just a springboard into a different kind of show to come on the BBC.
“I think it’s great that the BBC will hold the reins of being in charge of something as incredible as the Coronation, but will also [produce ‘Queen of Oz’].
“I guess this is a palate cleanser and it’s a comedy… it very possibly will look considered or something, but it absolutely isn’t.”

Laurence Fox and Neil Parish ‘are getting locked up’ for new prison reality show

OHMYGOSSIP — Laurence Fox and Neil Parish are reportedly going behind bars for a new reality show.
The actor and former Conservative MP are both said to have signed up for upcoming Channel 4 show HMP which is set to start filming later this month as they get locked up in a jail cell for the series.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Laurence and Neil are both on board for HMP and will be locked up later this month.
“Both have said they’re excited about the challenge and will be living like real-life prisoners, with proper ex-criminals.
“Laurence is a really divisive figure and there will be a lot of people tuning in to watch him get a bit of fictional justice. The same goes for Neil.”
Now, the public will see Neil and Laurence locked up for the show as Channel 4 bosses look to give viewers an insight into prison and rehabilitation.
The source added: “Both Laurence and Neil will be paired up with a former prisoner and locked up in a cell to get an idea of what prison is really like.”
Former ‘Lewis’ star Laurence has become an outspoken political campaigner in recent years, while ex-politician Neil designed in 2022 after admitting to watching pornography in parliament on two occasions.
He claimed the first incident happened by accident when he was actually trying to look at tractors for his family farm.
He previously said: “The situation was, funnily enough, it was tractors I was looking at, so I did get into another website with sort of a very similar name and I watched it for a bit, which I shouldn’t have done.
“My crime — my biggest crime — is that on another occasion I went in a second time — and that was deliberate. That was sitting waiting to vote.”

Alan Carr got ‘fat shamed’ on holiday

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Carr was “fat-shamed” on holiday in Iceland.
The ‘Changing Ends’ creator and star spilled about how he and his brother Gary Carr were both insulted by people during their recent trip.
The 46-year-old comedian said on his ‘Life’s A Beach’ podcast: “I got fat-shamed believe it or not. Not in the hotel – outside.
“My brother is big-boned like me – bigger boned. They fat-shamed me and him.
“I got scared on the glaciers. I said, ‘Gary, can I jump on the back of your snow plough’. They said, ‘Get off! Get off! Too heavy.’ How rude.”
Alan attributed the extra pounds due to the pandemic and joked it left him with a “pair of jugs”.
He added: “I can’t lose my Covid weight so I’ve got a pair of jugs now. I can’t actually do the brace – because of my t***.”
Meanwhile, Alan recently opened up about his new semi-autobiographical sitcom ‘Changing Ends’ which charts his rise from bullied kid to renowned television star.
He received more than 450 tapes from young actors wanting to play him in the series and recalled noting that there was “something there” when he saw the audition tape of the series’ young star Oliver Savell.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he told showbiz reporter Ria Hebden: “I’m filming a sitcom based on my life. We’ve done my home life, we’ve done the school and now we are here. This looks just like the Country Ground. I spent every Saturday here watching my dad up the cobblers.
“My childhood was really funny and it was bittersweet, the show is warm, it’s funny and the boy playing me, Olly [Savell], is such a talent.
“We searched everywhere for little Alan and I got over 450 tapes from people thinking they could play me as a kid. Some of them were so heartwarming, some of them were just downright offensive but Olly sent his tape in and there was something there. I got choked up watching it, I hope people laugh, I hope people have a cry.”

Elle Fanning and Sarah Paulson head I Am Sybil cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Elle Fanning and Sarah Paulson are to star in ‘I Am Sybil’.
The pair have boarded the movie that is to be co-written and directed by Mirrah Foulkes.
The picture is to explore the true story behind the cultural-sensation case of Sybil, one of the first mainstream cases of dissociative identity disorder (formerly known as multiple personality disorder), which raised questions in the public consciousness around identity and mental health.
Sybil was a pseudonym given to art teacher Shirley Mason in a 1973 work of non-fiction by Flora Rheta Schreiber – which assessed her treatment for multiple personality disorder by psychologist Connie Wilbur.
The film will draw on Debbie Nathan’s 2011 book ‘Sybil Exposed: The Extraordinary Story Behind the Famous Multiple Personality Case’, one of several texts that disputes Schreiber’s account of the case.
Sources say that Fanning will play Mason with Paulson starring as Wilbur in the movie.
The story has previously been adapted for two TV movie adaptations. The first starred Sally Field and Joanne Woodward in 1976 and won four Emmys.
The second premiered in 2007 and featured Tammy Blanchard, Jessica Lange and JoBeth Williams.
Foulkes is directing from a script she has penned with Jen Silverman. Producers include Jennifer Todd, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lindsay Williams.
Meanwhile, Elle is set to star in the Bob Dylan biopic ‘A Complete Unknown’ with Timothee Chalamet and Monica Barbaro.
The film is being directed by James Mangold and will star the ‘Dune’ actor as Dylan with Elle portraying the ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’ singer’s early 1960s love interest, the university student and artist Sylvie Russo.
‘A Complete Unknown’ focuses on a transformative moment for Dylan as he shook up his folk music act by going electric at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965. The move proved divisive amongst his fans and the music scene but put the music icon on the path to recording some of his greatest songs and albums.

Eve Hewson cast in Hedda

OHMYGOSSIP — Eve Hewson has joined the cast of ‘Hedda’.
The 31-year-old actress is set to feature alongside Tessa Thompson in the movie that is being directed by Nia DaCosta.
The film is billed as an epic reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s 1891 stage play ‘Hedda Gabler’.
The play dramatises the experiences of Hedda, the daughter of a general, who is trapped in a marriage and a house that she does not want. It was initially met with negative reviews but has since gone on to great acclaim.
‘Hedda Gabler’ has been adapted for both the big and small screen in the past as Ingrid Bergman featured in a BBC television production in 1962 while Sir Trevor Nunn’s 1975 film version ‘Hedda’ earned Glenda Jackson an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of the character.
Tessa will play the title role in the flick but it has not yet been revealed who Eve – the daughter of U2 frontman Bono and activist Ali Hewson – will be portraying.
Hewson earned rave reviews at the Sundance Film Festival for her role in the Dublin-set film ‘Flora and Son’ opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
She also stars in the Apple TV+ dark comedy series ‘Bad Sisters’, which has been critically acclaimed and renewed for a second season.
Eve grew up in the spotlight due to her famous father and is accepting of the fact that her life has never been “normal”.
She told The Independent: “My life definitely wasn’t normal. It was normal half the time, and … no, none of it was normal.”
Eve felt like an “outsider” as a child and explained how she could relate to the character Elliott from the film ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’.
She said: “I was so in love with that movie that I connected to the idea of him sort of feeling like an outsider. But everybody talks about Elliott, like on my birthday they’ll chant ‘Elliott’. Everyone knew Elliott.”

‘I’ve never seen a witch-hunt like it!’ Jeremy Clarkson defends Phillip Schofield

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson has defended Phillip Schofield.
The 61-year-old star stepped down from his role as host on ‘This Morning’ last week in the months after he and Holly Willoughby had been accused of jumping the queue to visit Queen Elizabeth lying in state and shortly after quitting admitted that he had had an “unwise but not illegal” extramarital affair with a much younger male colleague and now former ‘Top Gear’ host Jeremy, 63, has blasted the whole scandal as a “witch-hunt.”
Writing in his Sunday Times column, he said: “Phil is no longer the genial host of some morning-time televisual cappuccino froth. According to the people’s court of social media, he’s like his brother, a nonce. Actually, he’s worse than that: he’s a queue-jumping nonce. And we don’t want to see his disgusting face ever again.
“I’ve never seen a witch-hunt like it, and what baffles me most of all is that, as things stand, no crime has been committed. I don’t know him at all well and have no skin in the game, but it seems to me he is only guilty of being what he said he was: gay.”
Phils fellow former ‘This Morning’ host Eamonn Holmes’ claimed that when Phillip came out as gay on the ITV sofa in February 2020, the whole exercise had been a “cover up” for the affair but the ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ star “seriously doubts” that was the case because CEO Dame Carolyn McCall has “got more to worry about” at the broadcasting network.
He said: “I seriously doubt that. [Carolyn McCall] has got the share price to worry about, and the launch of the new ITVX service, and she’s also engaged in an apparent one-woman quest to rid the screen of all middle-aged men: Morgan, Kyle, etc.”

Sarah Beeny asked sons to shave off her hair early in cancer battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Beeny let her sons shave her hair when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer.
The ‘Sarah Beeny vs Cancer’ broadcaster decided to allow her four boys Billy, 18, Charlie, 16, Rafferty, 14, and Laurie, 12 – who she has with her husband Graham Swift – to shave her head as an “act of defiance” when she first got the news she had cancer in August, and now she loves the low maintenance hair care routine it has led to.
The 51-year-old star told the Radio Times magazine: “It really helped me, just going to work in one of my wigs, being normal – although in hindsight some of the wigs weren’t great. I can get ready in four minutes, which is brilliant.”
Sarah thought when she first got the news that she was going to die and started making funeral arrangements in her head.
She asked herself: “What kind of coffin do I need?”
The former ‘Property Ladder’ star – who was later told she had an 80 per cent chance of beating the diagnosis and was given the all clear in April after getting a double mastectomy – was given strength to carry on her difficult choice to make documentary about her illness by remembering it would “help people” see the reality of it.
Sarah said: “It wasn’t an easy decision… I felt it would help people, so that’s what kept me going.”
Recently, the ‘Sarah Beeny’s New Life In The Country’ star described how her breast implants were “like restuffing a cushion”.
Sarah said: “I’ve now got my fake boobs in and they’re pretty similar to the old ones, actually. They just took the old ones out of the inside and stuck some new innards in.
“It’s like restuffing a cushion… apart from the fact these ones feel a bit like memory foam, which is a bit weird. So they’re actually similar apart from the fact that when I lie down, they don’t fall to the side at all. They sort of stay there, like Belisha beacons.”

Dan Walker misses the people but not the BBC

OHMYGOSSIP — Dan Walker has admitted he misses his co-workers but not his job at the BBC.
The former ‘BBC Breakfast’ presenter – who has found a new telly home on Channel 5 – has insisted despite not missing his work at the public broadcaster, he is still a fan of the institution and he thinks if it were gone, “the media landscape” would be worse.
The 46-year-old star is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “I miss the people but I don’t miss the BBC.
“I still love the BBC. And I think a media landscape without the BBC would be much bleaker.”
Dan – who has daughters Susanna, Jessica and son Joe with his wife Sarah – admitted he felt at home “within 24 hours” with Channel 5.
He added: “I was like, ‘let’s do that.’ I felt settled within 24 hours.”
Dan – who now fronts ‘5 News at 5’ which has seen a 30 per cent rise in viewers – believes its success is due the programme being “really conversational with a real identity”.
He has been tasked with helming the show during massive breaking news stories like Gary Lineker’s suspension from the BBC over his tweets about the government’s refugee policy, but the former ‘Football Focus’ presenter is still getting asked a lot about his bike crash in February.
He said: “It’s probably the shock of seeing my face, it was quite badly damaged.”
The ex ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returned to screens back in March after taking a tumble from his bicycle at a roundabout near his home in Sheffield.
Dan posted a bloody selfie on social media and wrote: “Got back on the bike for first time today and felt safe and secure. New bike, new helmet… just disappointed I didn’t manage to match the socks to the frame.”
He has since admitted he was watching clips from his time on the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition – when he was partnered with professional Nadiya Bychkova – in 2021 to aid with his “recovery”.
Dan told ‘The Jeremy Vine Show’: “So I watch some of my old dancing [videos] back and then I pause them and I was testing my brain and my body to think, ‘Does my brain know what the next move is and can my body remember it?’ And it did on every single occasion.
“So I told Nadiya that she’s helped me with my recovery from this accident, so ‘Strictly’ does help even years after.”
