Jill Scott has been ‘too busy’ to plan her wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Jill Scott has been “too busy” to plan her wedding.
The 36-year-old former England captain has become a regular sports pundit and TV star since winning ITV’s ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ in 2022 and her diary has become so packed that she has not had time to plan her forthcoming wedding to Shelly Unitt but is hoping that when the big day comes, it will just be a celebratory day abroad with family and friends.
She told Hello Magazine: “Everything has been so busy, especially since the jungle. We’ve got some time together after the summer and then hopefully we can plan. I think [it will be] just family and friends, maybe to go abroad and then come home and have a massive party.”
Outside of television, the Sunderland-born Lioness runs Boxx2Boxx Coffee in Manchester with her significant other and recently explained that she and Shelley have been so wrapped up in their separate ventures that they have barely seen each other and are still yet to pick date for their wedding.
Asked if she had managed to set a date, she said: “No, we haven’t yet. I think it’s just because everything has been so busy. We’ve got some time after the summer together and then hopefully we can get some plans in place.
“Especially since the jungle, we’ve been like passing ships to be honest, because Shelly has got the coffee shop as well. But hopefully we’re going to improve that life-work balance after this summer. “I’ve only been able to go in [to the sop] once every couple of weeks, just because I’ve been so busy, but once the summer’s done with [I’ll go more].
“I think we’ll get a lot of customers supporting the World Cup. People like to come in and pick up a signed picture of the girls. I’ll get the girls to sign some pictures. After the World Cup I’ll definitely be putting my name down for some shifts!”

Dame Joan Collins will play Wallis Simpson in biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Joan Collins is set to play Wallis Simpson in a new biopic.
The 90-year-old actress revealed she is hoping to play the late Duchess of Windsor – who died in 1986 aged 89 – in ‘In Bed with the Duchess’, which will cover the last 15 years of the American divorcee’s life.
Joan said of Wallis – whose marriage to King Edward VIII caused him to abdicate – in an interview with The Sunday Times magazine: “I’ve read so much about her. She was feisty and she was peppy. She was extremely well dressed. She was great company.
“She was never a b****, but people think of her as the worst woman who ever lived. I’ve been so fascinated by that because it just goes to show how you can be tainted by everybody’s opinion, even when it is wrong. In fact, she begged the Prince of Wales not to marry her.”
The former ‘Dynasty’ star also revealed there are plans underway for a biopic which would examine the mistreatment she and her late sister, author Jackie Collins, received in their early careers.
When it was suggested both women had been treated terribly, Joan replied: “It’s very interesting that you would say that because I think that you’re right. In fact, there’s a potential film being made about Jackie and me in which they are going to stress the fact that these two women, who were somewhat ahead of their time in terms of female empowerment, were not treated very well.”
According to the outlet, there are no actresseds yet attached to play Joan or Jackie, who died of breast cancer in 2015.

Margot Robbie ‘can’t imagine’ any other Barbie director than Greta Gerwig

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie wouldn’t have signed up for ‘Barbie’ without Greta Gerwig.
The 33-year-old actress has the lead role in the film based on the beloved Mattel doll, and she admitted that she, like many of her co-stars, wouldn’t have been on board for the project if it weren’t for the director’s vision.
Speaking at the world premiere of the film at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, she told Deadline: “I don’t think most of us would’ve been involved if it wasn’t someone like Greta at the helm, but particularly Greta.
“What she does with her films… she’s so smart, but she’s also can really deliver on the humour and the emotion and we knew we wanted all of that in a ‘Barbie’ movie. I can’t imagine anyone else doing it but Greta.”
Alexandra Shipp found it “really exciting” to work with the 39-year-old filmmaker.
She added: “I was extremely nervous coming onto this set and working with incredible actors. Greta makes a safe set, she allows you to be honest and articulate and have integrity in specific choices and she helps to elevate that.”
Margot’s company, LuckyChap Entertainment – which she co-owns with husband Tom Ackerley and friends Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr – produced the film but were convinced they’d never be able to get the movie made when they were first bowled over by Greta’s script in 2020.
Tom recalled: “Margot and I were sitting in the coach and we both read the script… every so often we said, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe they did that,’ and it just kept getting better and better.
“And we closed it and we’re like, ‘Well, we’re never going to be able to make that movie.’”

Joanna Page teases reunion of Gavin and Stacey cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanna Page has reunited with her ‘Gavin and Stacey’ co-stars for a brand new show.
The 46-year-old actress played Stacey in the BBC Three sitcom alongside Mathew Horne, James Corden, Ruth Jones, Alison Steadman, and Larry Lamb over the course of three initial series from 2007 until 2010 and has now provided the voiceover on a show starring some of her former castmates as sh mused that a revival of the sitcom would be “so lovely”.
She told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Alison and Larry have just done a show where they’re going from ‘Barry to Billericay’ and I’ve done the voiceover and I found it really difficult to voice because I was watching them and I kept missing my cue. And I was going ‘Look at them, they’re like my mum and dad!’ I couldn’t take it seriously because I was smiling and laughing. [A reunion] would be so lovely. When we all first started it was like an instant family. We’re all still constantly in touch with each other, my gosh we send each other so many messages!”
The ‘Love Actually’ star went on to add that the series – which returned in 2019 for a Christmas special and ended on a cliffhanger when Nessa (Ruth Jones ) popped the question to Smithy (James Corden) – should be brought back so viewers can find out what happens but admitted that scheduling is a big issue even though she has such fond memories of “boding” with the cast.
She added: “We struggle to even make time for our own families. But then I agree, we have GOT to find out what Smithy says to Nessa!
“I’ve never done a show since ‘Gavin and Stacey’ where we all bonded so much. As soon as the show finished, I couldn’t stop crying, I thought: ‘I can’t bear to not have these people in my life’. This job and ‘Gavin and Stacey’ are the only jobs where it was like a family.”

Dr. Zoe: ‘Everything is back to normal This Morning after Schofield scandal!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dr. Zoe Williams thinks everything is back to “normal” at ‘This Morning’.
The ITV daytime show was at the centre of a scandal earlier this year when longtime host Phillip Schofield, 61, admitted to previously having an extramarital affair with a younger male colleague but now that the show is being fronted by his former co-star Holly Willoughby in rotation with the likes of Craig Doyle, Josie Gibson, Dermot O’Leary, and Alison Hammond, Dr. Zoe – who has given medical advice to viewers for a number of years – thinks that everything is “business as normal” after staff had initially worried about their jobs amid the controversy
She told HELLO Magazine: “It feels like everything’s back to business as normal now. More than anything, I’ve really felt for the staff and the people in the production office. It’s a big team and we all get on. There was a point where I think everybody felt that their jobs were in jeopardy, and there are people who’ve worked on the show for decades. It’s been a really emotional and difficult time, but I think we’re out the other end.”
After former ‘Dancing on Ice’ host Phillip – who has who has daughters Molly, 30, and 27-year-old Ruby with wife Stephanie Lowe – left the broadcaster after almost 20 years, some stars had claimed there is a “toxic” culture at ITV, but chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall insisted there have only been two complaints of such an “issue” in five years, and both were “taken very seriously”.
When asked what she makes of allegations of there being a “toxic culture at ‘This Morning’, Carolyn told a government committee: “What I would say is that it’s not something that we take that seriously.
“What I know is that when we talk about culture it’s incredibly important to me, personally and so it deeply disappoints me, right?
“But we do not recognise that in ‘This Morning’ and the reason for that is that we have tangible evidence to tell you that the vast majority of people at daytime and at ‘This Morning’ are extremely engaged and very motivated.
“That’s not to say we don’t take complaints about it seriously. We’ve had two complaints in five years about that issue. Both of them taken very seriously.”
In his first interview since the story came to light, Phillip – who had been a mainstay on British television since the 1980s and had fronted ‘This Morning’ since 2002 – apologised to his former colleague and claimed he will “never forgive” himself for getting involved with the young man.
He told the BBC: “To him [the young man in question], I am the most sorry. By getting involved with me, I have caused you so much pain, and I…I will never forgive myself. I made a bad judgement call. And that if only you knew, in one moment, if I’d had the judgment I’d had for 41 years, if I’d used it in that moment, things would be very different for everybody.”

Chris Gascoyne taking an ‘extended break’ from Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Gascoyne is taking an “extended break” from ‘Coronation Street’.
The 55-year-old actor joined the ITV soap as Peter Barlow 23 years ago but after being involved in numerous gripping storylines he has decided to take some time away from the cobbles to try other roles.
A source told The Sun: “Chris has decided to take an extended break from the soap.
“He loves working at ‘Coronation Street’ but he’s got a lot of things he wants to do and the time is right for him to take a break and pursue other roles.”
Earlier this year, it was announced that Chris would be starring as Captain Hook in ‘The All New Adventures of Peter Pan’ at The Alban Arena in Saint Albans this winter.
Although Chris is moving on, ‘Corrie’ producers are leaving the door open for him to return as Peter in the future.
The source added: “He loves working at ‘Coronation Street’ but he’s got a lot of things he wants to do and the time is right for him to take a break and pursue other roles.
“It isn’t a final goodbye and the door is very much being left open.”
Chris joined ‘Coronation Street’ in 2000, making his debut as part of the Barlow family – Ken Barlow’s oldest son – during the 40th anniversary live episode. He is the seventh actor to have played the character.
He then left in 2003 before returning in 2008 and then, after other forays, Chris came back on a permanent basis in 2016.
Chris’ final scenes as Peter, for now, will air at the end of the year.

Ant and Dec announce Byker Grove reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec are bringing back ‘Byker Grove’.
The Geordie duo – who made their name on the hit 1990s BBC show as PJ and Duncan – will serve as executive producers for new show ‘Byker’ from Fulwell 73, which will be aimed at a “primetime audience”.
The production company added that the reboot will “engage with a new generation of teenagers navigating the different challenges faced by young adults today”.
In a video announcing the news, Dec Donnelly said: “17 years after it closed its doors for the final time, Byker Grove is opening them up again.”
Ant McPartlin added that the series would be back for a “whole new audience”, as well as viewers “who are old enough to remember it so fondly”.
Dec continued: “Now, it’s obviously a show very close to our hearts, the show which gave us our breaks, so we couldn’t be more excited that we’ll be giving it a new lease of life.
“Once again, it will follow a new generation of young people and their families as they try to navigate the challenges they face today in the 2020s.”
Ant noted the show’s comeback at Mitre Studios meant they could provide “sustainable training and employment” for talent in the North East, both in front of and behind the camera.
Dec also wondered whether or not PJ and Duncan will make a cameo appearance at The Grove, but Ant wasn’t so sure.
He quipped: “I wouldn’t have thought so. I reckon PJ now, right, is performing at Wembley Stadium with his platinum selling rap album.”
Dec quipped: “As you can probably tell, storyline development is at a very early stage.”
There is currently no release date announced, while the duo didn’t reveal whether or not ‘Byker’ would be airing on the BBC like its predecessor.

Barney live action movie will focus on ‘Millennial angst’

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Barney’ live action movie will focus on “Millennial angst”.
Mattel Films executive Kevin McKeon has given a hint of what to expect when ‘Nope’ star Daniel Kaluuya brings the beloved purple dinosaur to the big screen, and the team want to take an interesting approach.
He told The New Yorker magaine: “We’re leaning into the Millennial angst of the property rather than fine-tuning this for kids.
“It’s really a play for adults. Not that it’s R-rated, but it’ll focus on some of the trials and tribulations of being 30-something, growing up with Barney—just the level of disenchantment within the generation.
“It would be so daring of us, and really underscore that we’re here to make art.”
Kaluuya previously opened up on his desire to bring Barney to the bring screen in a live action format, and revealed how he wanted to focus on the poignant aspect of the character.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “Barney taught us, ‘I love you, you love me. Won’t you say you love me too?’
“That’s one of the first songs I remember, and what happens when that isn’t true? I thought that was really heartbreaking. I have no idea why but it feels like that makes sense.
“It feels like there’s something unexpected that can be poignant but optimistic. Especially at this time now, I think that’s really, really needed.”
Emphasising Mattel’s goal, CEO Ynon Kreitz recently insisted the team are not focused on the idea of using films like ‘Barbie’ to create more sales.
He told Time magazine: “It’s not about making movies so that we can go and sell more toys. We’ve been doing well selling toys without movies.”
He noted that the firm is changing from “a toy-manufacturing company” into one that is firmly in the franchise business.
He explained: “The most important transition was from being a toy-manufacturing company that was making items to becoming an IP company that is managing franchises.”

Greta Gerwig to write and direct ‘at least 2’ Chronicles of Narnia movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Greta Gerwig is to write and direct “at least two” ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ movies.
The ‘Barbie’ director was first linked to a project about the book series in November, and she now appears to have put pen to paper on a contract with Netflix.
A profile in The New Yorker reads: “She has a deal with Netflix to write and direct at least two films based on C S Lewis’s ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ – but she wasn’t likely to make another movie about a toy.”
Gerwig added: “It would have to be something that has some strange hook in me, that feels like it goes to the marrow.
“I don’t know if there’s a doll that anyone is as mad at.”
Netflix announced in 2018 that it was teaming up with The C.S. Lewis Company in a multi-year deal where they could produce series and movies based on the beloved books.
A year later, the streamer announced that Matthew Alrich had joined the franchise as a “creative architect” to oversee all development going forward. He is best known for his work at Disney Pixar and co-wrote the film ‘Coco’.
Gerwig has worked on the movies ‘Lady Bird’, ‘Little Women’ and the upcoming ‘Barbie’ film, which will feature Margot Robbie in the lead role of the Mattel doll.
The filmmaker previously told how she was left astonished by Robbie’s acting ability.
She told Vanity Fair magazine: “Once, I wanted to capture Margot in slow motion but have everything else move fast, so I went up to her and said, ‘Could you move at 48 frames per second, even though we’re shooting in 24 frames per second and everyone else will be moving at regular speed?’
“She did some calculation behind her eyes and then f****** did it. She literally moved at a higher frame rate. I don’t know what category that goes into other than magic.”

Ernie Hudson reveals that filming is done on Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Ernie Hudson has confirmed that the ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ sequel has wrapped filming.
The 77-year-old actor is reprising his role as Winston Zeddemore in the untitled flick but admits that the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike means that the slated December release date is uncertain.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Ernie said: “Yeah, we finished, the movie is done, it’s wrapped. Obviously, they’re editing and doing whatever else.
“I’ve heard rumours the end of the year they’ll push for, or maybe spring next year. I never know how the studios are gonna do whatever they do, but the filming is done, which was a little bit difficult with the writers’ strike and everything going on.
“So, I know there was a lot of shuffling around in terms of where it was being done, but I’m thankful that we at least got it done in the can, and now, I’m like everybody else, waiting to see what it all looks like.”
Ernie recently confessed that he has learned to “love and appreciate” the franchise more after starring in ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’.
The star has discussed how he felt sidelined during the original movies in the 1980s but explained how returning as Zeddemore for the 2021 picture gave him immense satisfaction.
Hudson told Total Film magazine: “I’ve always loved being part of it, but I really learned to love and appreciate the film.
“What parts were taken out or whatever – I just felt like it was a perfect little movie.
“Once we came back to it, [director] Jason Reitman especially, went above and beyond to let me know how much he appreciated the character. Fans always have.
“‘Ghostbusters’ has really been some part of my life every day for the past 40 years.”

Pom Klementieff relished Mission: Impossible creative freedom

OHMYGOSSIP — Pom Klementieff loved the unconventional character creation process on ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’.
The 37-year-old star features in the new action blockbuster as French assassin Paris and was impressed by the way director Christopher McQuarrie and lead star Tom Cruise “build the character” around the cast members.
Pom told Screen Rant: “I mean, it’s so different. What drew me to the character is just Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise. Whatever character they want me to play, we would have found something cool to do. But actually, their process is the opposite(of the) usual.
“They just cast the actor, and then they build the character around the actor’s abilities and whatever the actor brings to the table too. It’s ongoing conversations, and we just create it together.”
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star continued: “That’s amazing, because we have a lot of freedom as well. There’s a lot of scenes and moments, (like) on the train at some point there’s a heart that I draw, and that was improvisation.
“It was never written in the script; I just did it. There’s so much freedom with working with them.”
Pom revealed that Cruise refused to kick her in the stomach for a fight scene in the movie.
The Hollywood icon famously performs his own stunts but Pom was unable to persuade him to boot her in the guts during a combat scene in Venice, despite insisting that it would “help” her performance.
Indicating her midsection, she told Entertainment Weekly: “I kept telling him to just kick me here.
“I was squeezing abs. [I said], ‘You can just go for it.’ He was like ‘No, no, no, no, no.’ I was like, ‘But it’s going to help me!’ But he wouldn’t do it.”

Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA recommissioned for 2nd series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA’ is returning for a second series.
The award-winning documentary filmmaker launched her popular ‘Sleep Over’ show back in 2019, with a transatlantic spin-off that aired earlier this year on W.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star will be bringing her format across the pond once again as ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA’ has officially been renewed for another season.
In each episode, Stacey will spend 72 hours as a house guest of an extraordinary family, as she lifts the lid on their fascinating lives.
Commissioning executive Emile Nawagamuwa said: “It’s fantastic to see Stacey head back to the US for more sleepovers. Now more than ever families are playing by their own rules and seeing the US, so familiar yet so different, through Stacey’s eyes is an incredibly compelling proposition.”
Adam Collings, channel director for W, added: “Stacey’s wit, warmth and ability to have insightful conversations with individuals has made this show a big favourite with the W audience.
“The series offers a unique opportunity to get an indepth look at different types of family life and I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to extend it further.”
Stacey’s previous shows have included sleepovers with a couple who have an open marriage, a Mormon family and “landed gentry”.
Series two of ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over’ featured a family of Orthodox Jews, “Eco Warriors” and an episode which focused on ‘Living With Down Syndrome’.
Stacey will continue to cover relationships and family life while exploring attitudes to love, relationships, marriage etc.
Jes Wilkins, Firecracker Films, said: “Everyone at Firecracker loves this series which just keeps getting better and better.”
‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA’ will return to W and UKTV Play in 2024. The one-off special, ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over: Family and Me’ will air on W and UKTV Play this summer.

Geoff Shreeves quits Sky Sports after 32 years: ‘The time is right to move on’

OHMYGOSSIP — Geoff Shreeves has quit Sky Sports after 32 years.
The 58-year-old touchline reporter is to leave the channel with immediate effect, and he insisted “the time is right to move on”.
He told MailOnline: “There’s an old saying that you always have to know the best time to leave even the greatest party.
“And that’s what my 32 years at Sky have been – the most fantastic party I could ever imagined attending.
“From the first kick of a ball in the live coverage of the Premier League to Manchester City’s title celebrations last season, with plenty in between! I have been incredibly fortunate to work for a ground-breaking company who have helped revolutionise football.
“But the time is right to move on. Sky have been incredibly generous in recognition of my service and I can’t speak more highly of so many people I’ve worked with there over three decades.
“I now have the opportunity for new experiences which I’m looking forward to announcing in the very near future.”
Geoff is said to have been offered a new deal but on reduced salary, which he rejected.
Gary Hughes, Sky Sports’ Director of Football, added: “Geoff has been an integral part of the Sky Sports football team and the best tunnel reporter in the business, interviewing the biggest names at the biggest games for over 30 years. Geoff leaves with our sincere thanks and best wishes for the future. As Fergie always said, ‘Cheers, Geoff!’ ”
It comes after legendary commentator Martin Tyler announced last month he was leaving Sky Sports after 33 years, and ‘Soccer Saturday’ frontman Jeff Stelling also departed at the end of the 2022/23 football season, after presenting the weekly football show for 25 years.
