Tom Cruise amazed co-stars with ‘relaxed’ attitude to stunts

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Cruise amazed his ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’ co-stars with his “relaxed” attitude towards his death-defying stunts.
The Hollywood actor is back in action as Ethan Hunt in the seventh film in the series – ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ – and he took his love of daredevil sequences to new heights on set – but co-star Hayley Atwell insisted Tom looked like a man who had spent a “lovely day at the beach” instead of doing 29 skydives.
In an interview with Radio Times magazine, she explained: “The thing that surprised me more than anything else is how easy he wears it all. I remember we went over for dinner at his and he comes out and he’s like: ‘Hey, guys, how you doing?’ Sits down, we’re chatting about the film, chatting about our day, what we’ve been up to.
“And we were like, well you know, how was your day? And he’s like: ‘Yeah, it was good, it was really nice actually, I had a lovely time. I did like 29 skydives I think today’.”
Hayley added that she was gobsmacked by his relaxed attitude towards it all. She went on: “The ease with which he said that! And also I’m sat there going, you look like a man that’s had a lovely day at the beach, you are so relaxed and comfortable in your own skin.
“And you’ve just done that! And I think it’s because he’s so disciplined in what he knows that he has to do in order to accomplish these stunts. And [he] has also that real understanding of how to relax and be fearless in it. And that’s the thing that I find most inspiring is the lightness with which he wears this all.”
The film includes high-octane stunts by Tom including the franchise’s most audacious sequence yet which shows the movie star driving a motorcycle off a cliff. The actor is said to have taken part in 500 skydives and 13,000 motocross jumps to prepare for the scene.
In a behind-the-scenes video, Tom revealed how much work he had to put in, saying: “I have to get so good at this that there’s just no way that I miss my marks. You train and drill every little aspect over and over and over and over again.”
Stunt coordinator Wade Eastwood added: “They were doing 30 jumps a day, getting to the point where he was just a machine.”

Paul C Brunson says new Married At First Sight will be ‘explosive’

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul C Brunson says the new series of ‘Married At First Sight UK’ will be “explosive”.
The relationship expert has been busy working on the latest instalment of the dating show – which brings singles together on their wedding day to marry a stranger – and he’s revealed this series is “very different” to the last and features a more “diverse” cast.
He told OK! magazine: “We’re almost finished filming this series and I think this will be our most incredible one yet. The one thing I can say about it is that I think we have the most diverse cast that I’ve ever seen on any reality dating show in the world. As a result of it being so extremely diverse, that creates so much conversation and drama. Every day I show up to set and don’t know what to expect – and what happened would always blow my mind. It’s been a crazy series.”
He went on to say: “[It’s] very, very different. When we were in the early stages of casting and matching, the first thing I noticed was how different the people were. It’s interesting to see because the diverse cast means that it sparks even more conversation and even more drama among the group.”
When asked how to describe the new episodes, Paul added: “Explosive, explosive, explosive – that’s the only way I can sum it up.”
‘Married At First Sight UK’ is slated air on E4 later this summer. Paul will return alongside fellow experts Charlene Douglas and Mel Schilling to see which couples make it through the series to the vow renewal ceremony.

Sandi Toksvig’s design show axed

OHMYGOSSIP — Sandi Toksvig’s TV show ‘The Great Big Tiny Design Challenge’ has been axed by Channel 4.
The former ‘Great British Bake Off’ star returned to TV in March 2022 to host the show which featured designers putting their creative skills to the test by renovating a dilapidated mansion – however, it’s now been revealed the series won’t be coming back as it’s been cancelled after just one season.
A spokesperson for Channel 4 told the MailOnline: “Every year, Channel 4, like all broadcasters, makes decisions about which shows to rest, return or conclude to ensure we always innovate and offer viewers the best range of programming. The decision not to recommission ‘Big Tiny Design Challenge’ was not financial.”
It comes shortly after channel bosses decided not to bring back game show ‘You Won’t Believe This’ after just one series which aired last year.
The show featured amateur sleuths trying to work out which member of a group of suspects was telling the truth as they recounted shocking stories. They were able to interview each contestant in an interrogation cell, and if they correctly guessed who was telling the truth, they would walk away with a cash prize. However, if they got it wrong, the suspect won the money instead.
A spokesperson for the channel insisted the decision not to renew ‘You Won’t Believe This’ also had nothing to do with financial reasons.
The show was hosted by comedian Ellie Taylor, who also had another one of her projects ‘Let’s Make a Love Scene’ – which featured contestants acting out scenes from rom-coms – fail to win a second series with Channel 4.

Brendan Cole sleeping in a tent during home renovations

OHMYGOSSIP — Brendan Cole and his family will be sleeping in a tent while renovation work takes place at their home in Mallorca.
The 47-year-old former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star has revealed he’s bought a new house on the Spanish island and he’ll be decamping to the garden this summer along with his wife Zoe and their children Aurelia, 10, and Dante, four, so they can remain onsite while construction work is carried out.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he explained: “We are doing a very nice refurbishment on our place in Mallorca.
“I’ve bought many houses over the years and I have always had the intention to refurbish them but have never gotten around to it and I have sold them and finally, we’re doing a proper refurb on our house in Mallorca. Because we’re doing the renovation we actually can’t live in the house… ”
However, Brendan is planning to make sure the set up is more “glamping” than camping by creating a temporary home in a large bell tent. He went on: “The plan is to actually be in a glamping tent on the property which is quite nice although if it gets too hot, which I fear it might be, we may well just come back.
“We have stayed in it from time to time with the kids and, we had a moment of gin madness probably three or four months ago now when, over a couple of trips to Mallorca, we took this massive bell tent over with us.”
Brendan revealed the family previously lived in the tent earlier this year after a deal to rent a flat fell through and they ended up living under canvas for several weeks while they sorted out their living situation.
However, the dancer is adamant his kids love being able to sleep under the stars. He added: “It was a really lovely adventurous sort of thing to do.”

Dan Walker’s out-of-body experience after crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘BBC Breakfast’ presenter Dan Walker had an out-of-body experience after his near-death bike crash.
The 46-year-old TV star was hit by a car while out on his bicycle in Sheffield in February leaving him battered and bruised with a bloodied face but he was fortunate to avoid sustaining any serious injuries – and he’s now revealed he went through a “reset moment” while he was being treated by paramedics at the scene.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s TV Mag, he explained: “I had a strange experience where I was watching myself on the floor then eventually I came back into my body … It was a sort of reset moment for me.”
Dan previously broke the news of his crash to fans in a post on Instagram hours after the incident, declaring he was “glad to be alive”.
He wrote: “Bit of an accident this morning. Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike. Face is a mess but I don’t think anything is broken. Thanks to Shaun and Jamie for sorting me out and the lovely copper at the scene. This is my smiling Thankful for our NHS [sic].”
Days later Dan admitted wearing a cycling helmet had probably saved his life, and he credited his dog Winnie with keeping his spirits up as he recovered.
In a post on Twitter, he wrote: “Winnie hasn’t left my side this week She’s the best. 2 things happened today… 1. I had my first solid food 2. Karen Allen ‘disappointed’ by small part in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

OHMYGOSSIP — Karen Allen was “disappointed” with her small role in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’.
The 71-year-old star briefly returns as Indy’s wife Marion Ravenwood in the new movie but lamented how director James Mangold changed the story content and reduced her screentime.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Karen said: “When Steven (Spielberg) was still gonna direct the film, I didn’t have the opportunity to read any of those scripts, although I know that Marion was much more involved in the story at that juncture.
“I knew James had hired new writers and that there was going to be a whole new approach with a new director and new writers, but I was really going into the unknown.”
The ‘Scrooged’ star added: “The next thing I knew, I was a reading a script that told (‘Dial of Destiny’s’) story, and of course, I was disappointed.
“I had thought I would be majorly a part of the film, and that was not just the direction they decided to go.”
Karen also believes that the decision to kill off Marion and Indy’s son Mutt (Shia LeBeouf) in the Vietnam War prevented her from having a more significant part in the project.
She said: “I think they had some problems to solve with the story in terms of Shia LaBeouf not coming back, and they chose to create this story that Mutt had been killed in the war and that it put a wedge between Marion and Indy.
“I mean, you could have knocked me down with a feather when I read it. But I was really happy that they came back together in the end.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Bisping is returning for the ‘Den of Thieves’ sequel.
The former UFC champion turned actor is to reprise his role as Connor in ‘Den of Thieves 2: Pantera’ alongside fellow stars Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr.
The sequel has been written and directed by Christian Gudegast and started production in Britain and the Canary Islands back in April.
The story resumes with Detective Nick ‘Big Nick’ O’Brien (Butler) hunting bad guys on the streets of Europe as he gets closer to capturing robber Donnie Wilson (Jackson) – who has become caught up in the perilous world of diamond thieves and the Panther mafia as a heist of the world’s largest diamond exchange is being planned.
Bisping, 44, became the first British fighter to win a UFC championship in 2016 but has focused on acting since ending his career in the sport in 2018 – landing parts in the film ‘XXX: Return of Xander Cage’ and the revival of the TV series ‘Twin Peaks’.

The Scottish actor said: “We’re working on that script at the moment, and I’m getting pages daily from Christian.
“It’s a fun ride, spreading across North America into Europe and the diamond district of Marseilles.

Laura Anderson getting life advice from psychic

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Anderson has been getting life advice from a psychic ahead of the birth of her first child.
The 34-year-old former ‘Love Island’ star is expecting a baby with her ex-boyfriend Gary Lucy and Laura has revealed she’s been leaning on a medium for support and he’s been helping her change her “mindset” as she prepares to become a first-time mum,
In her column for OK! magazine, she explained: “I speak to my psychic quite often, he’s more like a life coach now. He’s given me a lot to think about already, it’s all about changing the mindset and, honestly, I’ve found it life-changing.
“I think everyone naturally adapts to the process of growing your baby and then becoming a mother, but it’s such a massive life milestone.
“It definitely puts things into perspective. It’s a time where you lose control, but it’s a beautiful time too.”
Laura is single after splitting from her baby’s father – ‘Hollyoaks’ star Gary – following a brief romance, and she’s preparing herself for all the challenges that will come with raising a child alone.
She went on to say: “I have respect for every single mum out there, but it’s crazy how much strength it takes. I’m 34, I’m well travelled, I’m experienced, and I would say quite mature and resilient, but nothing prepares you for motherhood …
“It’s not just the mental side of it, the physical side of things, it’s the realisation that there is a lot that comes with having a baby – it’s quite humbling.”
One of the things Laura has been doing to prepare for motherhood is moving into a new home with more space and insisted settling down in a new flat has helped make her feel organised ahead of the birth.
She also declared she’s planning to be open and honest with fans about her postpartum journey because she wants to show others they aren’t going through these things alone.
Laura’s baby is due in August.

Montana Brown ‘refused’ to get birth induced

OHMYGOSSIP — Montana Brown “refused” to be induced when she gave birth to her first child.
The former ‘Love Island’ star and her boyfriend Mark O’Connor welcomed their son Jude late last month but she did it au natural because she is “so against induction”.
During a question-and-answer session with fans on Instagram, the 27-year-old television personality explained: “I was told at 38 weeks to be booked in for induction day after my due date which I also declined.”
Montana added: “I went into labour naturally, my waters broke 6am ish. Leading up to this I was having raspberry leaf tea everyday and religiously bouncing on this peanut ball. But who knows if any of that made a difference. I was due 28th June and he arrived 23rd so he came 39 weeks + 2 days.”
She continued: “I am so against induction and I think they offer it to women too Willy nilly. If you’re healthy and have no complications getting induced just seems unnecessary intervention. Let your baby arrive when it’s meant to arrive and full term can be from 39 – 42 weeks just trust your body.”
Montana added the recovery after the birth was “very tough” and she was “a smelly cow for a few days” postpartum.
She wrote: “I think the post party [sic] recovery has been the hardest to deal with as it’s something I didn’t think about enough. It’s mentally very tough with so many changes happening with your body, feeding your baby colostrum, body healing from birth and adjusting hormonally.
“My tear was honestly so painful, and that was the hardest part of recovery for me not being able to sit properly and being in pain all the time was just making me emotional.
“I just didn’t want to go to the toilet as it stung so bad and also didn’t want to shower as that was so painful too so I just was a bit of a smelly cow for the first few days.
“Only thing making it better is looking at your baby and just knowing that it will pass. But feeding your baby colostrum is quite painful as your nipples are adjusting. Lots of nipple balms and Silverettes are so helpful!”

That one was the best! Katie Price says wedding to Peter Andre ranks at number one

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Price says her “best wedding” was when she married Peter Andre.
The ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ winner – who has been married three times – admitted the 2005 ceremony she shared with the ‘Mysterious Girl’ hitmaker, 50, was her “dream wedding” because it was an “extravagant” day with the perfect dress – a pink gown with a seven-metre train – and “proper bridesmaids”.
Speaking on her podcast ‘The Katie Price Show’, the 45-year-old former glamour model explained: “The best wedding, I’d have to say the Pete one because it was extravagant. It was my dream wedding, my dream dress, and I felt it was done properly.”
Katie was married to Peter from 2005 until their divorce in 2009 and they became parents to two children together – 18-year-old son Junior and 16-year-old daughter Princess.
The reality star was later married to Alex Reid from 2010 to 2011 and she was wed to husband number three Kieran Hayler – the father of her nine-year-old son Jett and eight-year-old daughter Bunny – from 2013 until 2021.
Katie – who is also mum to son Harvey, 21, from a previous relationship – confessed she thought she would be with Peter “forever” and that’s why she made sure the wedding was so lavish.
She continued: “I thought i’d be with him forever and it was proper. the families there, the proper bridesmaids, it was just done how you expect a wedding to be. It was all done properly.”
The ‘What Katie Did Next’ star – who broke off her engagement to Carl Woods, 34, in March – added of her other weddings: “The other two [weddings] … what was I doing? The dresses were nice. I must say I love getting married and I love a dress … which has been my favourite dress? Obviously, I liked the one with Pete, but then with Alex I like that one. That was nice.”
The former ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ star also lifted the lid on how she dealt with an unwanted guest at her and Pete’s special day.
Katie said: “At mine and Pete’s wedding there was one person I really, really didn’t want to come to our wedding and I had perfectly good reasons.
“But he said, ‘I can’t, Kate, it’s impossible they have to come I can’t,’ and I said ‘Well I want that person to know that I don’t want them here and the reasons.’
“But he didn’t do until the evening. I was sitting at a table and clocked them with my eye; this person was sitting and had a few to drink, so I thought I’d take advantage of it.
“I said ‘Can you do me a favour please? Can you go up to that person over there and say, Kate wants you to know that she didn’t want you to come to the wedding,’ and I told her to explain the reason why.
“I had great satisfaction of watching her go over there and say it. I didn’t want that person to think that I didn’t know anything.
“Anyway, I am a nice person.”

Shock horror! Jason Blum astounded by Insidious success

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Blum is astonished that the ‘Insidious’ franchise has lasted so long.
The 54-year-old producer is involved in the latest movie ‘Insidious: The Red Door’ and is surprised that the series has continued for five installments after a challenging start.
Asked if foresaw the success of the series, James told JOE.ie: “100 per cent no. When the first one opened, it actually opened to a relatively low number.
“Our partner thought it was a DVD movie and was going to go straight to video and I said, ‘I think it’s probably a little bit better than that.’
“It’s a fair question to ask and neither one of us thought I’d be here talking about this movie 13 years later.”
The Blumhouse Productions chief believes that the lack of “high concept” in the franchise – which follows the demon-haunted Lambert family – has helped it become so popular.
Jason explained: “There is no high concept with ‘Insidious’, it’s a great drama about a family that is as scary as hell. On paper, that shouldn’t work but I think the magic of the movies is that sometimes you break the rules and audiences connect with them even more and I think that really is true of ‘Insidious’.”
The new picture marks the directorial debut of Patrick Wilson – who also stars in the movie as Josh Lambert – and he described how it is such a tricky process to create a jump scare.
The 50-year-old star said: “There’s so many elements that come together and sometimes don’t come together.
“It’s not unlike an action movie where you get all these pieces together and you have it in your head but you’ve got to go in and see what you’ve really got. That’s why the medium is more for directors and editors than it is for actors.”

Sandra Oh wants Princess Diaries return

OHMYGOSSIP — Sandra Oh wants a new ‘Princess Diaries’ movie.
The 51-year-old actress played Vice Principal Gupta in the 2001 movie ‘The Princess Diaries’ alongside Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews, and would love to return for the planned third film in the franchise.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she said: “I am ready for the Queen. Call me! I’m dying to see how Gupta has moved up in the world.”
Anne starred as Mia Thermopolis in the first two movies, with Julie as her grandmother Queen Clarisse Renaldi.
And while Anne is interested in a return for the third film, Julie revealed last year that she doesn’t think it will be possible for her own character to come back.
She told Access Hollywood: “I think we know that it’s probably not going to be possible. It was talked about very shortly after two [‘The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement’] came out, but it’s now how many years since then? And I am that much older and Annie the princess, or queen, is so much older. And I am not sure where it would float or run. In terms of us doing it, I doubt that now.”
She added to The Hollywood Reporter: “I think it would be too late to do it now. There was talk of a sequel many, many years ago. But I don’t think it ever came to pass. And Garry then did leave us. [director Marshall died in 2016.] [For] especially me, it’s too far down the line now to go back to it.”

Danny DeVito wants to reprise Penguin role

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny DeVito wants to return as The Penguin in the DC Multiverse.
The 78-year-old actor played villain The Penguin / Oswald Cobblepot in Tim Burton’s ‘Batman Returns’ opposite Michael Keaton as Batman in 1992 and after Keaton reprised his role for ‘The Flash’ this year, DeVito wants another chance to put on the penguin suit.
He told SFX magazine: “I would definitely consider doing it, yeah. ‘Batman Returns’ was a great part, it was operatic. You could just pull out all the stops. There were so many motivating things, so many things churning up inside of him. Being the odd man out – the odd bird out – brought the character out of me. It was an emotional experience for me because I felt it was an opportunity of a lifetime to play Oswald Cobblepot with Tim’s vision and design. Tim is a genius to me.”
Danny also revealed he kept his character’s black and white-patterned umbrella from the movie and he stores it in his office.
Speaking to the publication over Zoom, he said: “I have something you’re gonna really like, just stay right where you are. Don’t move. Stay where you are. Now – concentrate on the screen. Ready?”
After the umbrella appeared on the screen, he asked: “Do you know what that is? That is the original Penguin’s umbrella. Ladies and gentlemen, watch his mind be blown…”
He then got into character, adopting Cobblepot’s voice to say: “Yeah, it’s here. It’s here! It’s mine! What? You got a problem with that?”

Fiona Phillips ‘trying to keep smiling’ after being diagnosed with ‘bloody horrible’ Alzheimer’s

OHMYGOSSIP — Fiona Phillips is “trying to keep smiling” after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
The 62-year-old presenter recently revealed she was diagnosed with the illness a year ago after experiencing months of brain fog and anxiety and insisted she is not brave but is just trying to “get on with it”.
She told The Mirror: “I am trying to keep smiling and getting on with things but it is a bloody horrible disease.
“All I can do is keep hoping these trials will make a difference and help find a cure. We have to stop it massacring families like mine.’
“I’m not brave. I’ve just got to get on with it. I mean, what’s the alternative, to lie down and give up?”
And, Fiona is shocked by the outpouring of love and support she has received since going public with her diagnosis.
She said: “People have been so kind to me. Because I was worried about sharing the news I have this awful disease. I was anxious people would be staring or whispering about me or would just write me off as a batty old woman.
“But there has been incredible kindness. And so many people have told me about how Alzheimer’s has hit their families, as it has attacked mine, and somehow it just makes them feel a little bit less alone.”
Fiona is currently involved in a clinical trial for the condition and her husband, ‘This Morning’ boss Martin Frizell – with whom she has children Nat, 24, and Mackenzie, 21 – has been injecting her daily.
She said: ‘I felt more angry than anything else because this disease has already impacted my life in so many ways; my poor mum was crippled with it, then my dad, my grandparents, my uncle. It just keeps coming back for us.
“This disease has ravaged my family and now it has come for me. And all over the country there are people of all different ages whose lives are being affected by it – it’s heartbreaking.”
