Paul King gained 50 pounds scoffing chocolates on Wonka set

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Wonka’ director Paul King gained 50 pounds by scoffing the movie’s specially-made sweets.
The moviemaker took charge of the musical prequel to 1971 film ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ which stars Timothee Chalamet as the titular character – and he has revealed they brought in an expert chocolatier to make sweet treats for the film and he couldn’t resist tasting them all.
He told PEOPLE: “We had this incredible chocolatier. She made these incredible concoctions, and we would taste them … They tasted much better than they needed to, because obviously actors are good at pretending things, but the miracle was they tasted every bit as good as they looked … I think I’ve [gained] about 50 pounds, but I hope I can lose it before [the movie] comes out.”
King went on to add the extra chocolate on set didn’t seem to affect the film’s star, joking: “It’s a miracle that Timmy remains so slim and handsome. I’m trying to fatten him up, but it’s hard to do.”
It comes after King revealed Chalamet didn’t even have to audition for the role – because the director knew he was the perfect actor to take on the character of Willy Wonka.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: “It was a straight offer because he’s great, and he was the only person in my mind who could do it. But because he’s Timothee Chalamet and his life is so absurd, his high school musical performances are on YouTube and have hundreds of thousands of views. So I knew from stanning for Timmy Chalamet that he could sing and dance really well.”
‘Wonka’ hits cinemas in December.

Christopher Nolan’s daughter is a nameless burns victim in Oppenheimer

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher Nolan has revealed why he cast his own daughter Flora as a nameless burn victim in ‘Oppenheimer’.
The legendary director helmed the eagerly-awaited historical drama – which stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist behind the nuclear bomb – and choosing his eldest daughter for the tragic role meant he could express, in the “strongest possible terms”, the devastation of a loved one being destroyed by a “destructive power”.
The part is of a “young woman who appears to the title character in a hellish, conscience-pricking vision, in which the flesh is flayed from her face by a piercing white light.”
Nolan told The Telegraph: “We needed someone to do that small part of a somewhat experimental and spontaneous sequence.
“So it was wonderful to just have her sort of roll with it.”
Insisting it was not a premeditated idea to cast his college-aged girl, he added: “But yes, I mean, gosh, you’re not wrong. Truthfully, I try not to analyse my own intentions. But the point is that if you create the ultimate destructive power it will also destroy those who are near and dear to you. So I suppose this was my way of expressing that in what, to me, were the strongest possible terms.”
Flora and his wife and producer Emma Thomas – with whom he has three other children – were visiting the set during production when he made the impromptu decision.
Meanwhile, Nolan refused to use CGI in ‘Oppenheimer’.
The 52-year-old director explained how he required “the bite of real-world imagery” to portray the danger of the weapon.
Speaking to Collider, he said: “There are no CGI shots in this movie.
“I think computer graphics, they’re very versatile, they can do all kinds of things, but they tend to feel a bit safe. That’s why they’re difficult to use in horror movies. Animation tends to feel a little safe for the audience.”
The ‘Inception’ filmmaker continued: “The Trinity test, ultimately, but also these early imaginings of Oppenheimer visualising the Quantum Realm, they had to be threatening in some way. They had to have the bite of real-world imagery. The Trinity test, for those who were there, was the most beautiful and terrifying thing simultaneously, and that’s where we were headed for this film.”

‘It gives me the ick!’ Why Lisa Riley will NEVER get married despite being engaged

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Riley will “never” get married.
The 47-year-old actress – who is best known for starring as Mandy Dingle on ITV1 soap opera ‘Emmerdale’ – got engaged to partner Al in 2018 after four years of dating but has no intention of actually walking down the aisle because they are “happy” as they are.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Fabulous magazine: “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it,” she says with a laugh. “We’re very happy as we are and while I love wearing the beautiful ring Al gave me, I’ve never been the kind of girl who longs for a big, flouncy day with a horse and carriage. That kind of thing gives me the ick, to be honest. I’m never going to change my name, so really, what would be the difference? We call each other husband and wife, and have been together for nine years.”
The former ‘Fat Friends’ actress lost her mum Cath in 2012 – who died after a battle with breast cancer at the age of 57 – and went on to add that she “couldn’t cope” with the idea of not having her there on the big day and insisted that exchanging vows would make “no difference” to her relationship.
She added: “All my friends, family, and work colleagues adore Al and it’s the same with me and his family and friends. We’ve lost both our mums and when it comes to things like weddings, you do it for the other people.
“I don’t think I could cope with a wedding day without my mum. In Al, I have found someone who loves me for me and vice versa, which I never thought would happen. That’s all that matters. As long as we’re happy, we don’t need wedding rings on our fingers. What difference would rings make? I wouldn’t be able to wear a wedding band very much anyway because I’ve always got my character Mandy Dingle’s blingy rings on.”

Pom Klementieff was inspired by Bruce Lee for Mission: Impossible role

OHMYGOSSIP — Pom Klementieff took inspiration from Bruce Lee and Clint Eastwood for her villain in ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’.
The 37-year-old star plays assassin Paris in the new action blockbuster as she attempts to kill Tom Cruise’s hero Ethan Hunt and was guided by legends of cinema for the part.
Speaking to Variety, Pom explained: “I watched movies with Bruce Lee, with Jackie Chan and some French movies as well, because it was not just about the fight and the physicality – it was also the way the character walks.
“I was inspired by movies with Jean-Paul Belmondo to find a cockiness to the character. And movies with Clint Eastwood, Takeshi Kitano, all these beautiful characters that barely speak but convey so many emotions as well.”
Pom explained how she spent years training for the stunts performed in the action franchise and had “manifested” a role in the picture.
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ star recalled: “We trained very hard with (stunt coordinator) Wade Eastwood. But I had been training for years with a martial artist who taught me how to punch, how to kick, so I had been doing kickboxing, boxing, taekwondo.
“It was my dream to be part of ‘Mission: Impossible’. When I was training several years ago, sometimes in my schedule, instead of writing ‘martial arts’ or ‘stunt training’, I would write ‘Mission: Impossible’, because I wanted to manifest it.”
Pom was pleased that she got a lot of creative input into her alter ego thanks to the freedom provided by Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie.
She said: “My character, I think, is on a path of destruction and she’s a very skilled fighter, and she enjoys to fight and to kill people. But there is also an underlying feeling of betrayal and of loneliness from being an orphan, so there’s a deep wound underneath.
“There’s a lot of things that I came up with myself, because what Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise do is cast the actors, and then they build the character around the actor’s abilities.”

‘You’d be a fool to not entertain that role’: Harris Dickinson tempted to play James Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Harris Dickinson would be a “fool” not to consider playing James Bond.
The 27-year-old actor has been tipped as a potential successor to Daniel Craig as 007 and admits that the lure of playing the legendary spy would be too good to turn down despite having big shoes to fill.
Harris told Total Film magazine: “I mean, listen, man, you’d be a fool to not entertain that role.
“I’m loving seeing the development of James Bond and seeing how it changes over the years. I think Daniel Craig was such a good Bond that I’d almost be quite frightened to try.
“Who knows what they’re doing with Bond? I’m intrigued.”
The ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ actor confirmed last year that he would be open to the prospect of taking over as 007.
He told the i newspaper: “One of my friends called me the other day and was like: ‘Mate, are you Bond?’ I’m always ready.
“I would welcome the opportunity. I think it can be a wonderful role and I love what Daniel Craig did with it.”
The actor’s latest role is in the indie comedy-drama film ‘Scrapper’ and he enjoys having the chance to champion independent British cinema as it reflects the setting in which he grew up.
Harris said: “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I’m really passionate about UK independent cinema, so it’s always lovely when you get a chance to take part in that, in a way that feels authentic to your own circumstances and your own upbringing.”
The star previously revealed that he finds comedy “natural” and has always been comfortable with the genre.
He recalled: “I find comedy natural. I’m not saying I’m funny – I’m saying I’m silly.
“I started in comedy when I was a kid, doing impressions for family members. Comedy was the way to engage people.”

Emmerdale legend quits ITV soap after 25 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Samantha Giles is leaving ‘Emmerdale’ after 25 years.
The 52-year-old soap star – who brings to life the sassy Bernice Blackstock – is said to be departing the long-running ITV1 series set in the fictional Yorkshire village for the fourth time after making her first apperance in 1998.
A source told the Sun newspaper’s Bizarre Showbiz column: “Bernice Blackstock has been in and out of Emmerdale village more than they change the barrels at The Woolpack.
“She’s always welcomed back with open arms by ITV and fans alike, but it’s now becoming a bit of a running joke.
“It wouldn’t pay to bet on whether Samantha will one day be back, but for now she will leave the soap later this year.”
Samantha- who first appeared from 1998 until 2002 and returned in 2004 only to depart again to star as Valerie Holden in the Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’ in 2012 before making a comeback in 2019 and again in 2021 – has been involved with a number of storylines on the show like instigating food fights, swallowing Kate’s engagement ring, attempting to swipe a wedding dress and a drunken rager in a JCB and her iconic tantrum at her 50th birthday bash.
When she came back the last time, Samantha labelled her homecoming as “meant to be”.
She said: “As an actress leaving a role that you love is always a hard decision and I’d been lucky to work so consistently for so long which is rare in our business, so I knew the time had come to be brave and take the leap back in 2019 to pursue my other passion of writing and focus on getting my first book published.
“I’ve now had such a lovely response with Rosemary and The Witches of Pendle Hill and the down time of the pandemic meant I was able to complete my next two books. I’m a big believer in fate so when Emmerdale offered me the chance to return as Bernice I took it as a sign that it was meant to be.”

The 32-year-old TV star told OK! magazine: “It was on my name list when I gave birth to Sunday. “I don’t know where I got it from, but when I typed it in [on Google] I saw Judi Dench’s daughter’s nickname is Finty. I’ve always loved it and never heard it anywhere else before.
“I just feel so connected to the name – she came out and she was just Finty. I think she sounds like a character out of Bridgerton.”

She said: “We are all so happy. She’s such a chilled out girl.”

Ferne said: “I wanted a girl for that reason. I was quite honest about wanting a girl. Throughout my pregnancy, and this is no disrespect to all the boy mums out there, I just had a preference and I couldn’t see myself with a boy. I see myself as the Essex Kris Jenner with this army of girls and after having Finty, I reckon I could have two more. I’d have another one tomorrow!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerry Katona has slammed the television industry as “false”.
The 42-year-old star has made a career out of appearing on shows such as ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here’ and previously served a panellist on ‘Loose Women’ since her days as part of girlband Atomic Kitten in the late 1990s but following the scandal at ‘This Morning’ – which saw long-time presenter Phillip Schofield step down from the ITV1 daytime show shortly before he admitted to having an extramarital affair with a younger male colleague – has claimed that there is no “realness” in the world of television anymore.

Meanwhile, the OnlyFans star – who was initially married to Westlife singer Brian McFadden from 2002 until 2006 and has Molly, 21, and 20-year-old Lilly-Sue with him but went on to have Heidi, 16, and Max, 15, with second husband Mark Croft and also has nine-year-old daughter DJ with the late George Kay – is engaged to fitness instructor Ryan Mahoney and went on to add that she has taken inspiration from ‘The Hit List’ presenters Rochelle and Marin Humes and scheduled a regular date night with her significant other.
She added: “Rochelle and Marvin Humes said recently that they try to have a date night every two weeks to keep the spark alive. Me and Ryan definitely try to do the same because we are so busy and we’re also business partners so it can be difficult when you’re wearing all these hats. We get lost sometimes. Saying that, we do spa weekends as often as we can to have that time together.”

Matt Hancock ‘got f****** smashed” on ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, says lead instructor

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Hancock “got f****** smashed” on ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’.
The 44-year-old MP – who served as the UK’s health secretary during the COVID-19 pandemic – is set to appear on the upcoming star-studded edition of the Channel 4 military endurance show and got “absolutely destroyed” by the programme’s tough tests of both mental and physical strength.
Chief Instructor Billy Billingham told the Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “We treat everybody the same and we really went at him.
“You might think that he’d be a c*** but for most of the time he wasn’t. But if anyone shows any attitude, they get it and when he tried it, he got f***** smashed.
“In the interrogation bit, he gets destroyed, absolutely destroyed.
“At the time I thought, ‘Oh, hang on, maybe this is a bit much’. But no, he deserved it.
“The idea is every single contestant will either leave on day one or will leave as a better version of themselves and with Matt Hancock, he’s still got a long way to go.”
Matt – who is stepping down from his position as a a Conservative MP – used his stint on last year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’ to beg for “forgiveness” and explained he had made a “big” mistake” after his affair aide Gina Coladangelo was exposed whilst his own social distancing rules were in place.
He told ‘Loose Women’ panellist and fellow campmate Charlene White: “Do you know what it is actually what I’m really looking for is a bit of forgiveness, that’s what I’m really looking for. We all make mistakes. I made a pretty big one.”
Matt also told comedian Babatunde Aleshe while in the jungle: “It was really tough. I messed up and I fessed up. I resigned and it’s no excuse but I fell in love, right? That also had a lot of other consequences, obviously.”

‘I can say the F word as much as I want!’ Linda Robson is ‘looking forward’ to Loose Women tour

She is quoted by The Daily Star’s HOTTV Column as saying: “We can be ruder because we won’t be on daytime TV. And I can swear. I can say as many F words as I want. It’ll be great. There will be lots of clips from over the years and the audience will get to ask questions. We are really looking forward to it.”
The former ‘Birds of a Feather’ actress – who will be joined on the road by co-stars such as former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Denise Welch, media legend Janet Street-Porter, West End star Brenda Edwards, activist Katie Piper and presenter Gloria Hunniford – has often had to apologise for her profanity whilst on set of the show, infamously uttering the word “f***” during a live competition segment in 2022.

Melanie Sykes believes she’s suffering Tourette’s syndrome after struggling not to curse

OHMYGOSSIP — Melanie Sykes believes she is suffering Tourette’s syndrome.
The 52-year-old presenter and model said she “self-identified” as a victim of the condition, which can cause uncontrollable ticks and swearing, after she was diagnosed two years ago with autism.
She told comic Alan Carr, 47, on his ‘Life’s a Beach’ podcast about how she was convinced she had Tourette’s after struggling not to curse: “I used to think, ‘What’s wrong with me?’
“And now I know it’s everything right with me because that’s what makes me me.
“It’s been over a decade (we’ve worked together), for f***’s sake!
“Can you swear on this? Oh good, that’s good but I’ll try not to.
“Because I’ve just discovered I’ve got Tourette’s.”
Mel added she often laughs at “really inappropriate things” and said she was “wired a completely different way” that she is only now “understanding”.
She has said on Twitter she has the condition – which is famously suffered by singer Lewis Capaldi, 26 – but admitted it has not been medically diagnosed.
Mel told her fans: “I self-identify because of my studies and understanding of the pre-existing ‘conditions’ that are hand in hand in some autistic people.”
The mum-of-two, whose younger son Valentino is autistic, added to Alan about her battle with being claustrophobic: “Claustrophobia was a new friend, and that’s been like a mountain to climb. But I’m working on that.
“I’m claustrophobic in areas that are like wide open, like midway up Ben Nevis where I got claustrophobic because you can’t leave without a helicopter or walking, and when you’re walking you’ve got six hours this way or six hours that way and you’re like f– man!”

Channel 4 planning Love Island dating show for virgins

OHMYGOSSIP — Channel 4 is reportedly planning a ‘Love Island’ style show focused on people losing their virginity.
The broadcaster is said to be working on a new dating programme ‘Virgin Island’, which will feature people who have no experience in the bedroom, while bosses hope it will be “a bit more sophisticated and complicated” than the ITV2 show.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “This is very much a ‘Love Island’ scenario, but a dating show with a real difference.
“Instead of being desperate to bed one another, this programme will see them take tentative steps towards losing their virginity and look at some of the science and theory behind sexual attraction.
“Of course it has echoes of ‘Love Island’ but it’s a bit more sophisticated and complicated than just lazing round a pool eyeing each other up before all pairing up for bedtime antics when the lights go out.”
The show will follow the contestants all the way through their journey, and it follows a number of shows looking to capture the buzz from ‘Love Island’, which is hosted by Maya Jama.
On Netflix, ‘Too Hot To Handle’ puts a twist on the format as the singletons try to avoid having sex to win a cash prize.
Dannii Minogue delighted viewers at the helm of BBC Three’s recent hit ‘I Kissed A Boy’ which focused on single gay men, while a female version ‘I Kissed A Girl’ is exepcted to air in 2024.
Meanwhile, Davina McCall is set to host ‘My Mum, Your Dad’, which sees single parents being nominated by their own kids in a search for love.
Paul Mortimer – ITV’s Director of Reality and Acquisitions – previously commented: “‘My Mum, Your Dad’ is set to be a relationship show with a difference, as we follow the emotional and inspiring journeys of single parents looking to find love once more.
“Packed full of heart and humour, we’re really excited to be bringing this brand new format to ITV1’s mainstream audience.
“With Davina at the helm, this will be a grown-up iteration of a series in the dating genre that, thus far, has largely been the preserve of younger viewers.”

Meg 2: The Trench director wants to turn series into franchise

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Meg 2: The Trench’ director Ben Wheatley wants to turn the series into a full blown franchise.
The filmmaker is at the helm of the killer shark sequel – which sees Jason Statham reprise his role as rescue diver Jonas Taylor – and while he doesn’t want to get carried away, he thinks there is “a lot more to explore” in another follow up.
He told Total Film magazine: “You don’t want to talk about it until ‘Meg 2’ is out, but I hope [to see a third installment].
“There’s a lot more to explore in that world. It’s very rich. The international-ness of it is very interesting.”
He praised the first movie for having a diverse cast without putting too much of a focus on their differences.
He added: “What’s so smart about the first film is that it’s not ‘Rush Hour’. It’s not East-meets-West, ‘Oh, we’re all confused about each other’.
“It’s just people working together, and being in an everyday adventure, and the people just happen to come from places all over the world.
“I think that’s good for audiences, and it’s a good message as well.”
The new movie sees Statham back after starring in the 2018 original, while he teams up with ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ actor Wu Jing, who plays Jiuming.
Together, they have to lead a research team to explore the ocean’s depths.
The synopsis teases: “Their voyage spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival.
“Pitted against colossal Megs and relentless environmental plunderers, our heroes must outrun, outsmart, and outswim their merciless predators in a pulse-pounding race against time.”

‘I want to work’: Fiona Phillips to film special documentary following Alzheimer’s diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Fiona Phillips is to film a special ITV documentary following her Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
The 62-year-old broadcaster revealed earlier this month that she was diagnosed with the disease last year after being stricken with months of brain fog, anxiety and forgetfulness, and the star has now told how she will start to shoot a film about dealing with the realities of Alzheimer’s later this year.
Fiona – whose parents both died due to the degenerative disease – told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I want to go out and I want to work. I’ve just got to get on with it.
“I mean, what’s the alternative, to lie down and give up?”
The documentary will also feature Fiona taking part in a groundbreaking drug trial.
Fiona first revealed she was suffering from Alzheimer’s earlier this month, and admitted it was “heartbreaking”.
She told the publication: “This disease has ravaged my family and now it has come for me.
“And all over the country there are people of all different ages whose lives are being affected by it – it’s heartbreaking.
“I just hope I can help find a cure which might make things better for others in the future.”
Fiona’s mum Amy was first impacted by the disease in her 50s and passed away in 2006 aged 74, and her dad Neville started to suffer with dementia in his 60s, and he died in 2012.
The former GMTV presenter’s husband, ITV executive husband Martin Frizell, 64, told recently how she isn’t as “vibrant and interested in things” as she used to be following her diagnosis.
He said: “My only frustration is just I want her to get better,’ he says. ‘I want her to remember things. I want the apathy to go and I want this person back who was vibrant and interested in things and eager to do new things. But she’s not there at the moment.”
She replied: “Really? I hadn’t noticed I was being like that.”
He added: “But you wouldn’t, because you are in the middle of it.”

Christopher Nolan rules making another superhero movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher Nolan has ruled out ever making another superhero movie.
The 52-year-old filmmaker helmed ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy from 2005 to 2012, in which Christian Bale portrayed lead character Bruce Wayne/ Batman, but Nolan won’t be renewing his acquaintances with the Caped Crusader anytime soon.
When asked by YouTuber HugoDécrypte whether he would make “another superhero movie”, he replied: “No.”
Nolan also passed on responding when questioned if he would consider directing a ‘Star Wars’ motion picture one day, but he won’t be heading behind the camera on the small screen anytime soon.
Quizzed about whether he is up for making a “TV show one day”, he also replied: “No.”
With Nolan ruling himself out of anymore superhero films, that looks to have called time on Bale’s career as Batman.
In June 2022, Bale admitted he would be up for portraying Batman again if Nolan asked him.
Asked if the offer has even come up from Warner Bros, he said: “No, no, no. Nobody, nobody reaches out to me or they keep me like a mushroom, keep me in the dark and feed me s***.
“For me, that would be a matter of Chris Nolan, if he ever decided to do it again and if he chose to come my way again, then yeah, I would consider it because that was always our pact between each other is we would just stick to it.
“We said we would only ever make three. And then I said to myself, and I’d only ever make it with Chris.”
Bale – who appeared in ‘Batman Begins’, ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ – recently admitted he still hasn’t seen ‘The Batman’, although he hailed Robert Pattinson as a “wonderful actor”.
He previously hailed the star’s casting as the DC superhero as a “good choice”.

Coleen Nolan diagnosed with cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Nolan has been diagnosed with skin cancer.
The ‘Loose Women’ panellist, 58, said her sister Maureen pointed out a “tiny bit of skin” on her shoulder that looked potentially suspect, so she sought advice from a doctor.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ about seeing a dermatologist about “another problem”, she said: “I went back in and he was very good and he said, ‘Look, it’s nothing to worry about. It is actually a cancer that doesn’t necessarily spread, but you do need to treat it and we’ll try it with cream and then the chemo cream and then if that doesn’t work, we’ll cut it out and give you a skin graft.’ ”
Coleen admitted her initial reaction was to “laugh hysterically”.
She added: “It was so shocking my first instinct, typical me, was to laugh hysterically because I just thought that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard anybody say, because I’m sick of cancer.
“Also, my first instinct was, I’m not telling anybody in my family because this that I’ve got at the moment seems nothing compared to what my sisters have been through.
“And … what Linda is going through, where it has gone to her brain and she’s having chemo.
“It just seemed so pathetic for some reason to go back and go, ‘Oh yeah, I’ve got a carcinoma.’ ”
Coleen’s sister Linda Nolan has incurable cancer, which has spread to her brain, and the family lost sister Bernie Nolan to breast cancer in 2013 aged 52.
The pair’s sibling Anne Nolan has also battled breast cancer.
Following Coleen’s announcement, Linda wrote on Twitter: “Very proud of my little sis. She acted on her instincts, found something amiss and got it checked.
“If you spot something out of the ordinary for you, PLEASE get it checked. Don’t be frightened”
