Rosie and Chris Ramsey love having sex at ‘really weird times’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rosie and Chris Ramsey love having sex at “really weird times”.
‘The Chris and Rosie Ramsay Show’ star finds it “difficult” to squeeze in time between the sheets with her 37-year-old stand-up comic husband due to juggling their showbiz career and parenthood to their two sons Robin, six, and Rafe, two, but love to opt for a bit of afternoon delight.
While appearing on ‘Shopping With Keith Lemon’ on ITV2, the 36-year-old television personality says to Keith Lemon: “It’s difficult, it ends up happening at really weird times. These people who have sex when they go to bed, what are you thinking?
“It’s like 2 o’clock in the afternoon for us.”
Rosie admits that she finds Chris “more” attractive as time goes on while chatting to the comedy alias of Leigh Francis, 50, on the show
She says: “He’s ageing really well, I fancy him more now than I used to. He looks really good.”
The ‘S******, Married, Annoyed’ podcasters claimed “there’s no secret” to their successful working and personal relationships aside from having “a laugh”.
Chris told Anita Rani on BBC Woman’s Hour on BBC Radio 4: “There’s no secret to our marriage.
Rosie added: “We have a laugh and it makes life a little bit more enjoyable, doesn’t it?”
Chris continued: “In day-to-day life, from parenting to the podcast to the TV show, as long as we’ve made each other laugh, I feel like it’s been a success.
Rosie said: “And you don’t always have to laugh at each other. Watch something funny. Laugh together.” “Or laugh at the other one’s misfortune.”
The ex ‘Parenting for Idiots’ star also advised to embrace “the mundane” in your romance.
Rosie said: “It’s very exciting when you first get together, isn’t it? But then, as life carries on, it becomes a little bit mundane. I actually quite like the mundane. There’s comfort in it. I quite like that we have this life. We come home, we have tea together, and we watch the telly.”

Tommy Jessop is ‘frustrated’ he hasn’t been offered any more roles since Line of Duty

OHMYGOSSIP — Tommy Jessop is “frustrated” he hasn’t been offered any more roles since ‘Line of Duty’.
The 38-year-old actor – who has Down’s Syndrome – has not landed many roles he played murder suspect Terry Boyle in the Jed Mercurio-created BBC One police drama so he opted to create the documentary ‘Tommy Jessop Goes to Hollywood’ with his brother Will to explore how to make Hollywood more disability-inclusive.
He told Metro.co.uk that the lack of opportunity was “frustrating” and “annoying” so decided he was going to be the one to fix the issue and “hopefully do it all” by himself.
His brother Will added: “With a bit of help from friends.”
He continued: “The thing is no one can make a movie all by themselves. It’s a collaborative medium. So you’re always gonna need some support and some kind of allies along the way.
“For me that’s also part of the fabric of the film and the reason for making it, is to show that if you give people the opportunity to show you what they can do, they can really surprise you.
Will called his brother Tommy an “inspiration” to him personally but urged people to be advocates those with the condition – which comes from people being born with an extra chromosome – who “aren’t just relatives of people with Down syndrome” and hopes the documentary helps foster understanding.
He added: ‘I hope that the film will inspire other people to look with new eyes at the wonderful people with Down syndrome and seek opportunities to work with them rather than thinking, ‘Oh well, we might as well try and include someone.’ But actually proactively realise how wonderful it is and special it is to work with someone like Tommy,’
Tommy admitted he “might be” keen to go back to any new series of the BBC show – which also stars Martin Compston, 39, Vicky McClure, 40, and Adrian Dunbar, 65 – while Will said he was playing it cool because his little brother found being in it “amazing”.
He said: ‘It was amazing because when he was in series six, the first that anyone other than Tommy and my mum found out about it was when we were watching it. So Tommy kept it completely top secret until it was broadcast. I think it’s fair to say you’d probably be up for it, wouldn’t you?.”
‘Tommy Jessop Goes to Hollywood’ airs on 21 August on BBC One.

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Attwood is set to make more appearances on the ‘Loose Women’ panel.
The 32-year-old reality star made her debut as a guest panellist on the ITV1 lunchtime chat show on Tuesday (15.08.23) and now an insider has teased that while there are no plans to make her a permanent member of the lineup, she will be back again because the broadcaster has big plans for her.

The insider went on to add that the former ‘Love Island’ star – who has carved out a career as a documentary presenter since appearing on the ITV2 dating show in 2017 – is seen as one of ITV’s “most exciting talents” because of her versatility.
They said: “It has cemented her as one of the channel’s most exciting talents. She’s so versatile!”

Jessica Chastain wants to make A Most Violent Year sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Chastain is eager to make a sequel to ‘A Most Violent Year’.
The 46-year-old actress starred alongside Oscar Isaac and David Oyelowo in the 2014 crime-drama movie, and Jessica would jump at the chance to star in a sequel to the J. C. Chandor-directed film.
Speaking to the ‘Awardist’ podcast, Jessica explained: “Here’s the reality, and we’ll see if this ever happens, because this is a script I’m waiting to get written. Waiting on.
“It’s a story about capitalism using this family, [it’s] the American story. J.C. has a really good … when I first met with him, he pitched me this whole idea, and I think it’s amazing, so I’m waiting. I’m just waiting to get a script.”
Jessica played the part of Anna Morales in the original movie, and the character is now ready to be “let out of her cage”.
She said: “You know she grew up in a not great situation, she’s got the gun in her purse, she’s ready, she shoots the deer, like, no problem. She’s ready to be let out of her cage.”
Jessica starred alongside Oscar in HBO’s 2021 miniseries ‘Scenes From a Marriage’.
However, the Hollywood star previously revealed that the drama series actually changed their friendship.
Jessica explained to Vanity Fair magazine: “‘Scenes From a Marriage’ was very tough. And I love Oscar [Isaac], but the reality is, our friendship has never quite been the same.
“We’re going to be okay, but after that, I was like, I need a little bit of a breather. There was so much ‘I love you’, ‘I hate you’ in that series.”

Shirley Ballas and toyboy fiancé Danny Taylor still together

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas and toyboy fiancé Danny Taylor are still together.
Despite recent speculation that the pair had split after Shirley, 62, called them “good friends”, she has insisted that they are still in a relationship.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Shirley told The Sun newspaper: “Danny, we’re still together after four and a half years. That’s miraculous. He has a very busy schedule and I have a very busy schedule.
“He’s in the North and I’m in the south, but somehow we do try to make it work, so that’s good. What I like most about Danny is he has a heart of gold and he puts up with my lifestyle. I am like the Tazmanian devil and I’m all over the place.”
Shirley is preparing for the new season of ‘Strictly’ and revealed her favourite dance is the rumba as it reminds her of sex.
She said: “I love all the dances but I particularly love the Viennese Waltz and I love the rumba, which is the vertical expression of a horizontal desire – work that one out.”
Shirley joined Strictly in 2017 following the departure of Len Goodman and started dating Danny, 50, in 2019 after meeting while rehearsing for the Christmas pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ at the Liverpool Empire.
Reports of their split came earlier this year after Shirley insisted she was no longer in a place where she wanted to get married.
She told Closer: “I don’t feel there’s a pressure [to get married]. I think the only pressure I felt was my own. As my son [Mark] said, it was me who was pushing to get married. Things changed last year – my mum moved in, and Danny’s not in a place to get married. But we’re good as we are. We’re good friends and that works.
“Danny stays fairly busy and I check in every day. You can tell there’s that love and warmth. It is what it is today, and no one’s promised tomorrow. We learn from the past and keep moving.”

Les Dennis lost three stone after health scare

OHMYGOSSIP — Les Dennis lost three stone after being diagnosed as pre-diabetic.
The 69-year-old TV presenter wants to be fit and healthy for his three children so he cut out the takeaways and dropped the pounds.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Les – who has a grown-up son Philip from his first marriage to Lynne Webster, and two children with his third wife Claire Nicholson – explained: “I went to get a check-up with a doctor and they said I was pre-diabetic.
“Luckily I caught it early enough to say, ‘Right, here we go, I have to do something’.
“It has made me take responsibility for my own health. Being an older dad I want to be there for my kids. I want to be here when I am 100.
“They are the most important thing to me. I have to fulfil the responsibility to my kids.”
Les went from 15 stone to 12 stone but he still allows himself the odd treat.
He said: “I was touching just under 15 stone, which I knew was too high — I am 5ft 9in — and I’m now able to get into my old clothes. I changed my diet and rather than eating white bread, I will go for rye or sourdough bread.
“I have cut down on my meat intake, my sugar intake and I follow the Mediterranean diet, which has proven for people to have less diabetes and heart attacks.
“I have cut out white wine and I might have the odd beer. I have the occasional Magnum ice cream.”
And, Les is determined to live life to the fullest after losing friends, including Keith Chegwin who died ]of lung disease in 2017 at the age 60.
He said: “I am still lucky to be around when I think I have lost friends like Keith Chegwin. He was a dear and wonderful guy. He seemed really fit and healthy and things like that are a reminder of how fragile life is.
“I was able to prove that you can reverse pre-diabetes by diet and by exercise and by a strong will. I am happy to still be around.”

Gal Gadot says Tom Cruise is only actor who does all his own stunts

OHMYGOSSIP — Gal Gadot says Tom Cruise is the only actor who does his own stunts.
Although the 38-year-old actress does her own stunts where possible, she insisted that it is important to highlight the stunt teams who take over when things are too dangerous or tricky for her.
Speaking to Flaunt magazine, she said: “When people say: ‘I do all of my stunts by myself,’ I’m like, ‘Really?!’ [The only exception] is Tom Cruise, who really, really does them.
“I always try to celebrate my stunt women and men. The amount of work and the risk they take, the dedication—everything they give is just incredible. They’ve become like a second family to me. They should be celebrated because they really make us look like the best version of ourselves.”
Gadot recently made a return to the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise in ‘Fast X’, despite her character appearing to be killed off in an earlier film and she revealed the movie series will always remain close to her heart.
She explained: “I mean they were the first to give me an opportunity in Hollywood. I still get emotional with the love from the fans. For years, I’ve been asked by so many different fans to ‘Come back, come back!’ And they even did a campaign for me to return. It was mind-blowing to me, and these are things I don’t take lightly. So, I was like, ‘Okay, maybe now it’s time, maybe now is the right time to return.’ It’s really exciting, and it feels right.
“‘Fast’ was this very strong, dominant franchise that allowed women to be celebrated as well [as men] and not just sit at the back, literally in the passenger seat. They let them drive. I feel like they were the first that really went for a global cast. It brought in talent from different places in the world. We’ve tried to do that with [Gadot’s new movie] ‘Heart of Stone’ too–we didn’t want to make this an American-only film. We wanted it to feel global, international, to have as many people from around the world being able to see themselves on screen. Going back to ‘Fast’, I feel like this is something they were pioneers of.”

50 Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan ‘doesn’t worry’ about having to shake off his erotic character

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Dornan “doesn’t worry” about the sexuality of his characters since his ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ success.
The 41-year-old actor plays wealthy entrepreneur Christian Grey in the erotic film series but admitted that even though he has achieved great success in the role, he doesn’t let it define him in terms of future roles.
Asked if he worries about perceptions from directors or fans, he told MovieWeb: “I honestly just don’t think about that. If I thought about that, it would be better detrimental to everyone else around me and what we’re trying to do. I can’t control if other people have some sort of pre-ordained perception of me, what kind of characters that I’ve played, or the ones that they know of. If they can’t shake off other characters that I’ve done before and get themselves into what they’re watching, that’s on them. I don’t know, but it’s something I certainly don’t worry about often or give any thought to.”
The Golden Globe Award-winning star is now starring alongside Gal Gadot in ‘Heart of Stone’ and explained how the upcoming Netflix movie was a way to “drip [his] toe” into the genre of action.
He said: “Jesus, I’ve done a lot of very grounded drama stuff, done some sci-fi stuff, done big, broad comedy stuff. You know, I feel like I’ve been lucky that I’ve gotten to explore all these worlds, and this is one that I simply haven’t explored yet. And for that very reason, it had a big appeal to me, not only to dip my toe into it, but dip my toe into it with these people, at this level, with Gal Gadot, Tom Harper, Netflix, Skydance. Greg [Rucka and Allison Schroeder] wrote this script, it was a pretty cool entry into the world of action movies.”‘
‘Heart of Stone’ is available to stream now on Netflix.

Captain Marvel sequel is ‘really wacky, and silly’

OHMYGOSSIP — The upcoming ‘Captain Marvel’ sequel stands out from other MCU movies because it is “wacky and silly”.
Director Nia DaCosta believes that “superhero fatigue absolutely exists” but insisted her movie ‘The Marvels’ – starring Brie Larson – will still thrill fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
She told Total Film magazine: “The biggest difference from the other MCU movies to date is that it’s really wacky, and silly. The worlds we go to in this movie are worlds unlike others you’ve seen in the MCU. Bright worlds that you haven’t seen before.”
Executive producer Mary Livanos agrees and said the movie is something “women from all walks of life could relate to”.
She explained: “‘The Avengers’ movies are these epic conclusions to chapters of storytelling, whereas this is a team-up within the narrative that we didn’t necessarily expect for Marvel. Usually, you wait for characters to show up all together in Avengers movies. We were excited to design a team-up featuring characters that women from all walks of life could relate to.”
The film stars Larson as Carol Danvers, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, alongside Zawe Ashton, Park Seo-joon, and Samuel L. Jackson.
In the film, Danvers, Rambeau, and Kamala team-up after they begin swapping places with each other every time they use their powers.
‘The Marvels’ is directed by DaCosta from a screenplay she co-wrote with Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik.

‘Your sleep is not guaranteed’: Melissa Reddy talks hectic transfer window

OHMYGOSSIP — Melissa Reddy gets “very little sleep” during the transfer window.
The Sky Sports presenter admitted the periods in January and over the summer when footballers can move clubs are the busiest time for her because she’s often up half the night confirming information before having to keep chasing the story and keeping fans updated, and it isn’t always easy because even the players themselves don’t know what’s happening.
Speaking on a panel discussion alongside Jamie Redknapp and Daniel Sturridge at the Opening Night of the Premier League party hosted by Sky Sports in London on Friday (11.08.23) night, she said of a typical day during the window: “Very little sleep for a start, your sleep is not guaranteed because clubs, players, agents will not respect your time.
“Last night I was switching off my phone to go to bed just after midnight, my phone rang about a British record deal for [Moises] Caicedo involving Liverpool, which then means you don’t sleep because you want to get all the information, put out the story. Then you’ve go to be up early to go out and chase it.
“And then a transfer changes so much, especially when there’s multiple parties involved and a good example of this – Harry Kane had no idea when he was actually going to get on his flight to Bayern Munich today because he had some loose ends to tie up.
“Now if the person being transferred doesn’t know what’s happening imagine us who have to report on it and try and find out.”
Meanwhile, Jamie praised Harry for making one of the “bravest moves” he has ever seen from a Premier League player after the England ace decided to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich.
Speaking on the panel, which was hosted by ‘Saturday Social’s Adam Smith, he told assembled guests including Elz the Witch, Stefan Pierre Tobin and Olivia Hawkins: “People questioned Harry Kane for a long while for having lack of ambition when he didn’t go to Manchester City a couple of years ago. You can’t say that about him now. This is one of the bravest moves I’ve even seen a Premier League player make.
“People look down on Bayern Munich for whatever reason; it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world. The players get treated like kings, they try and win every title, they get the best players in. I get it, it’s going to be a great move for him. It’s surprised a lot of people, but I think it’s an exciting move for him.”
Watch 128 exclusively live games on Sky Sports and NOW this season. Sky Sports will continue to be the home of the Premier League – bringing fans the best in class when it comes to analysis, presenters, and production.

Vicky McClure and Jonny Owen tie the knot

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky McClure has married film director Jonny Owen.
The ‘Line of Duty’ actress and her new husband announced the news on his daughter Katie Owen’s BBC Wales show on Friday (11.08.23) after she had to leave the wedding early to work.
Vicky told Katie live on air: “We’ve had the most amazing special day and we’re gutted you had to go back but we’re so proud of you.
“You’re missing lots of dancing but we can do that again.”
Vicky, 40, and Jonny, 54, were joined by a host of celebrity guests at their wedding in Nottingham, including her ‘Line of Duty’ co-stars Martin Compston, Adrian Dunbar and Craig Parkinson.
Football manager Rob Page, Everton manager Sean Dyche and TV presenter Paddy McGuinness also attended.
Vicky posted pictures on Twitter and wrote: “Tied up in Notts!!! Best. Day. Ever!!!!! Xxxxxx.”
Vicky and Jonny met while filming ‘Svengali’, a movie which Jonny wrote back in 2012, but she claimed to have fallen in love before they even met in person.
Welsh news site Nation Cymru reported her as saying on BBC Radio Wales: “When we first spoke it was on the phone. I came off the phone and I just knew.
“I’ve never loved anyone more than I’ve loved Jonny.”
He added: “I remember we were walking down Southbank (in London) on a weekend break from filming and we were going to the Tate Modern and she turned to me and asked me if I fancied going to the pub instead.
“And I was like, well, yeah! I thought, ‘What a girl’.
“I think we almost simultaneously both went, ‘I fancy you!’ It just tumbled from there and we haven’t been apart since that moment.
“I was going through a divorce at the time and I’d been separated for seven or eight months. I think we went from ‘I like you’ in the pub to ‘I love you’ in about 10 seconds.”

Freaky Friday director reveals how Jamie Lee Curtis ‘saved’ hit Disney movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Lee Curtis “saved” ‘Freaky Friday’ because of her “chemistry” with Lindsay Lohan.
The 64-year-old actress was drafted into the 2003 Disney comedy to play a mother who switches bodies with her teenage daughter just days before filming began and now director Mark Waters has recalled how the two stars were “not scared” to approach the movie with an “aggressive energy.”
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “[Curtis’ casting] ended up, I think, saving the movie because her energy and also her chemistry with Lindsay … the two of them have a lot of like aggressive energy, and aggression is funny. If you’re kind of playing comedy in a way that’s shy and non-confrontational, it’s never that good. But the two of them were not scared to get into it with each other, and that made it really work well.”
The comedy – which was a remake of the 1978 Disney classic starring Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris – marked Lindsay’s second big-screen appearance after ‘The Parent Trap’ and Mark went on to add that while she didn’t necessarily give the “best audition”, she had something in terms of “star presence”as he reflected on the movie’s legacy upon its 20th anniversary.
He added: “Lindsay was another one that was interesting. We tested all these great young actors, and people did a decent job playing kind of the mom part. I wouldn’t even say Lindsay was our best audition, but Lindsay just had star presence.
” There’s always a generation of daughters and mothers that seems to keep renewing itself. I went from people who are my peers to people who are like five to 10 years younger than me to people who are brand new mothers right now, who come to me and say, ‘Oh my god, I just watched that movie with my daughter.’ I think that’s an amazing thing that we pulled that off.”

‘There are times I cry myself to sleep’: Emily Atack confesses the realities of ‘awful’ single life

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Attack “cries [herself] to sleep” because she’s lonely.
The 33-year-old actress has been single since splitting from former ‘Big Brother’ contestant Liam McGough last year and while there are times she feels “confident and independent”, she admitted she struggles with being on her own and finds it quite “miserable”.
Speaking on the Soap + Glory podcast ‘Soaking Up Life With Emily Atack’ said: “People think I fly the flag for all the single ladies, but I’m not afraid to admit being on your own is actually miserable a lot of the time. It’s pretty hard.
“There are times when I go out and I feel confident and sexy on my own and I’m independent.
“But there are times when I cry myself to sleep because it’s lonely and awful, and it’s OK to admit that, I think.”
But the former ‘Inbetweeners’ star thinks she turns “absolutely pathetic” when she does find love because she puts too much of herself into her relationships.
She said: “This is where I am at the moment — I’m too much of a romantic, it’s actually ruining my life.
“Where I go wrong in life is that I’m known as confident, sexy and all those things, and that’s all great.
“And then the second that I’m in love, I’m absolutely pathetic.
“I go from being confident to being like, ‘Just have everything’, and that’s not on them, that’s all on me.
“That’s a lack of self care and self love. I have mountains and buckets of confidence but no self-esteem.
“It’s a horrible thing to admit but it’s just true, and there is something about a romantic love that drains me of all my self love, it just does.
“I put everything into that person and I’m just a shrivelling little wreck, handing my heart over on a royal, red fluffy cushion.”

Steve Jones to host This Morning

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Jones will host ‘This Morning’ this week.
The former T4 presenter is set to front the daytime show with Josie Gibson on Wednesday (16.08.23) and if he proves to be a hit with viewers, he will “almost certainly” be added to the rotation of regular hosts working alongside Holly Willoughby when she returns from her summer break.
ITV bosses are said to be “thrilled” that Steve, 46, is interested in working on the show after making the decision not to bring in a permanent co-host to replace Philip Schofield, who left the show in May amid a scandal after he lied about his relationship with a younger colleague.
A source told MailOnline: “The hope is that those watching at home will love Steve, he’s a very experienced broadcaster but also very cheeky.
“There is no permanent replacement for Phil, Holly will be presenting with Alison, Josie, Dermot and Craig, and now probably Steve.’
“Hopefully he will be part of the new dawn for This Morning after the Schofield scandal, and will help to give it a fresh new look.”
It was previously claimed Holly was “so excited” to be sharing the screen with a wide range of hosts, including Craig Doyle, as well as having Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary retain their Friday slot.
A source said last month: “The idea of finding the next Phil to sit next to Holly has been disregarded by ‘This Morning’s bosses. It will be Holly along with whichever rotating presenter is selected to join her. It will essentially be Holly’s show.
“Bosses hope that they can put all of the Schofield scandal behind them and start concentrating on the content of the show rather than the twosome presenting it. At least this way there won’t be any falling out.
“Holly is so excited about the plan, she loves Josie, Craig, Alison and Dermot. It’s a happy ship and she made the decision not to quit but instead to return and keep things going while being at the helm. Holly is absolutely determined to head up the challenge to make the show a success again.”

Gal Gadot spent a month preparing Snow White audition

OHMYGOSSIP — Gal Gadot spent a month working on her ‘Snow White’ audition.
The 38-year-old actress plays the Evil Queen opposite Rachel Zegler as the titular princess in Disney’s upcoming live-action reimagining of classic animated movie ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ and she revealed it was the first time “in a while” she had had to try out for a part because she needed to prove her musical abilities.
She said in a video interview with GQ: “It was the first time I had to kind of audition for a project in a while.
“They needed to make sure I can sing because this is a musical. So, for a month, I was working on the song, and then I auditioned, and we filmed the song, and I got the part, and it was very exciting.”
The ‘Heart Of Stone’ actress relished making the movie because it was “so different” to anything she’s ever worked on.
She said: “It was so much to shoot because it’s so different from anything I’ve ever done. It’s so delicious and delightful, and I could really go big and theatrical.”
The actress previously explained she wanted to make her character’s evilness “interesting” and for the film to explore why the Evil Queen is the way she is.
She told People magazine: “I wanted to make sure that we keep her delightful and delicious, and we understand what makes her tick. Then the evilness is interesting, and not just flat.
“For me, it was making sure the Queen is not just evil for the sake of being evil. There is a complexity. Between the two characters, it’s like a mother-daughter relationship in a weird way. It’s what happens to a woman when she feels like she’s not relevant anymore, what can come out of her.”
And Gal relished the fact people on set were “intimidated” by her look.
She said: “Just to be able to be that character and feel what it makes other people feel. Usually I make people talk to me, open and comfortable. With this one, I truly felt people were intimidated by me.
“Everything was very, not aggressive, but it was very intimidating. But to be that character just feels great, because you feel like it’s effective in the story.”
Her co-star Rachel added: “Yeah. It’s very intimidating. And it was also the black lipstick, it was the nails, it was the lashes.”

Rob Brydon crushed by questions over Barbie role

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Brydon has admitted it “stings” when people question why he is in ‘Barbie’.
The 58-year-old comic has a brief role in the movie as Sugar Daddy Ken and he thinks people were surprised to see him in a Hollywood blockbuster because he’s best known for his work on sitcom ‘Gavin and Stacey’ and presenting panel shows such as ‘Would I Lie To You?’.
He told The Times newspaper: “It does slightly sting that some people are saying, ‘What’s he doing in such a big Hollywood movie?’
“I am resigned to the fact that it’s the price I pay for not taking the big acting roles in America and doing quiz shows and voiceovers here [in the UK] instead.
Rob is best known for playing Uncle Bryn in ‘Gavin and Stacey’ and he explained ‘Barbie’ lead actress and producer Margot Robbie was a big fan, while director Greta Gerwig had enjoyed his multiple roles in ‘Human Remains’.
He said: “You never know who’s watching, do you? Margot loved Gavin Stacey and a few years ago a friend of hers asked me to record a video message for her as Bryn. To be honest I’d forgotten all about it, and then I get the call for Barbie, and the response to it has been extraordinary.
“I am not here to blow my own trumpet, but there is a lesson for young actors — do your best in every role.
“Greta Gerwig told me she was a fan of ‘Human Remains’, which amazed me.”
The Welsh comic doesn’t want to uproot his family to pursue Hollywood success because he doesn’t feel the need to make such “sacrifices”.
He said: “I am not prepared to make the sacrifices to make films or TV in Hollywood or Atlanta or Vancouver, wherever the tax breaks for filming are these days, because believe me there are sacrifices.
“There has to be something inside you that needs that level of success and fame. I don’t have it.”
