This Morning receives National Television Awards nod but Holly and Phillip miss out

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘This Morning’ is up for a National Television Award, but Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have missed out on a nod this year.
The ITV brunchtime show has been nominated in the Daytime category alongside fellow ITV shows ‘Loose Women’ and ‘The Chase’, and the BBC’s ‘The Repair Shop’, but Phillip – who quit ITV earlier this year after admitting to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger former colleague – and Holly aren’t up for the TV Presenter accolade.
Holly’s colleague Alison Hammond – who co-hosts the programme with Dermot O’Leary – is nominated for the gong, alongside Ant and Dec, who have been shortlisted for the 22nd year in a row, after winning the previous 21 times.
‘The Chase’ frontman Bradley Walsh, ‘The Traitors’ host Claudia Winkleman, and sometime ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Martin Lewis complete the nods for the category.
‘The Traitors’ also has a nomination of its own for in the Reality Competition category.
The show will do battle with ‘Love Island’, ‘Race Across the World’, and ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ for the prize, while ‘Call the Midwife’, ‘Happy Valley’, ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Vera’ could win the Returning Drama award.
Happy Valley’s Sarah Lancashire (Catherine Cawood) and James Norton (Tommy Lee Royce) are both up for the Drama Performance prize.
They will face off against ‘Vera’ legend Brenda Blethyn (DCI Vera Stanhope), India Amarteifio – who portrays Young Queen Charlotte in ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’ – and Call The Midwife’s Judy Parfitt (Sister Monica Joan).
In Soapland, ‘Coronation Street’, ‘EastEnders’, ‘Emmerdale’, and ‘Hollyoaks’ have Serial Drama nods, while ‘Beyond Paradise’, ‘Blue Lights’, ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’, and Jenna Ortega’s ‘Wednesday’ all have chances to win the New Drama accolade.
Joel Dommett will present the ceremony for a third year in a row, and it will broadcast from The O2 London and air live on ITV1 and ITVX from 8pm on Tuesday 5th September.

‘A lot has happened!’ Neighbours return will be set 2 years after ‘finale’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Neighbours’ has confirmed the show’s return will be set two years after the Channel 5 finale.
The series will be back on screens on September 18th on Amazon Freevee, just over a year after what was thought to have been the last-ever episode was broadcast on July 29th on Channel 5.
In a brand-new trailer of the Australian soap, described as “a new chapter”, Jackie Woodburne’s character Susan Kennedy says: “Gosh, a lot has happened in the last two years.”
As well as Jackie, Alan Fletcher, Annie Jones, Rebekah Elmaloglou, Ryan Moloney, and Stefan Dennis are all returning as series regulars.
In the trailer, ‘The OC’ actress Mischa Barton guest stars as Reece Sinclair, who appears to be in a relationship with Byron Stone, who is now played by Xavier Molyneux.
But he accuses her of “keeping secrets”, which could no doubt lead to drama on Ramsay Street.
The trailer also teased a huge upcoming wedding.
April Rose Pengilly, Guy Pearce, Ian Smith, Jodi Gordon, Melissa Bell, and Trevor the Dog will also guest star in the series, while Tim Kano, Sara West, Shiv Palekar, Candice Leask, Emerald Chan, Georgie Stone, Lloyd Will, Lucinda Armstrong Hall, Lucinda Cowden, Marley Williams, Naomi Rukavina, Riley Bryant are part of the main cast.
In March, Jason Donovan – who reprised his role as Scott Robinson for the finale – admitted he was “surprised” to hear about Neighbours’ upcoming return.
Speaking about the shock announcement on Nova’s ‘Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Richie’, Jason said: “I’ll be honest with you, it was a surprise.
“But … I think anything that provides opportunity to keep people working and actors and producers and all those sort of things.”

Tommy Jessop enlists Kit Harington and Neve Campbell to help him make Hollywood movie

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Line of Duty’ star Tommy Jessop enlisted the help of Hollywood actors Neve Campbell and Kit Harrington when trying to help his brother make a movie about a superhero with Down’s syndrome.
The 38-year-old actor – who played murder suspect Terry Boyle in the Jed Mercurio-created police drama, which also stars Martin Compston, 39, Vicky McClure, 40, and Adrian Dunbar, 65 – joined forces with his sibling Will Jessop to get tips and tricks from people like the ‘Scream’ star, 49, and the ‘Game of Thrones’ star, 36, to help get the project greenlit.
In BBC documentary ‘Tommy Jessop Goes to Hollywood’, Tommy says: “I have watched countless superhero films in the past and I think it’s about time someone with Down syndrome should play a superhero.
“We should always be speaking up for the rights of people with Down syndrome so that we are able to make our own choices in life.”
Tommy tells of other people with the condition – which is a developmental condition caused when people develop an extra chromosome and can lead to physical and mental disabilities – like his cousin Laurent, who he believes has “abilities” others don’t, such as extra “empathy”.
He says: “My cousin, Laurent, has Down syndrome and I’ve always felt with him that he has abilities that I don’t have, and that people with Down syndrome don’t have.
“I think one of those abilities that he has, that I hope would be part of your superhero, is an empathy. He understands quite often how I’m feeling almost before I know I’m feeling it, which I think is amazing. The time is right for a superhero front and centre that has Down syndrome.”
In the documentary, Neve enthuses about the film idea, and admits it could “change perspectives”.
She tells the pair: “I love the idea of learning more about people with Down’s, also the idea of changing perspectives, people’s perceptions, or what they believe the story to be as opposed to what your actual life story is.”
The ‘Innocence’ star knows he is already working to change minds about what people with Down’s Syndrome “can do”.
Tommy added: “I am proving that people with Down syndrome can do things.
“We can act. If we are on TV more often, people might start to understand us even better and believe in us. They will start to see we are no different to other people and that we should be treated equally and respected just like everyone else.”

EastEnders’ Alfie Moon to battle prostate cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ Alfie Moon is to be diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The cheeky-chappy character – who is played by Shane Richie, 59, in the BBC One soap – has dipped in and out of Walford since 2002 after marrying and divorcing Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace, 51) , the mother of his eight-year-old twin boys Bert and Ernie, but in a new hard-hitting plot he will be dealt the devastating news that he has the disease.
Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: “When we first embarked on this storyline we knew it was imperative that we worked alongside Prostate Cancer UK and Macmillan Cancer Support to take on and accurately portray such an emotional and pivotal storyline for Alfie, and one that many viewers may relate to Shane [Richie] has thoughtfully portrayed the realities of being diagnosed with prostate cancer with grace and understanding.
“We hope that this storyline resonates with the audience, and that we represent it as sensitively, and as accurately as possible.”
The charities deemed it a “pleasure” and “vital” to work alongside the ‘EastEnders’ writers, and praised the move to show the reality of the disease, because it is one of the most common cancers battled by men.
Amy Rylance, the head of improving care at Prostate UK, said: “It’s been a pleasure working alongside ‘EastEnders’ on their prostate cancer storyline, and we salute the BBC for approaching Prostate Cancer UK to ensure the narrative is as close to real life as possible.
“Every man’s experience of prostate cancer is unique, and it’s so important for viewers to be given accurate information about the disease.
“It’s been a privilege to provide insight into Alfie Moon’s journey with prostate cancer, ensuring an authentic story is told every step of the way.
“Introducing Shane (Richie) to one of our supporters affected by prostate cancer gave him the opportunity to understand what it’s like to experience the disease first hand.”
Macmillan Cancer Support’s Dany Bell said: “Storylines like Alfie’s play a vital role in helping to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of prostate cancer and the impact a cancer diagnosis can have on individuals and their families.
“We also know that men can often find it difficult to talk about cancer, to protect the people around them or simply wanting to stay strong.
“We hope that seeing a character like Alfie go through this experience will help open up these vital conversations and highlight the array of support that’s out there.”

‘How amazing would that film be?’: Jessica Chastain would like to make a sequel to The Help

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Chastain is interested in making a sequel to ‘The Help’.
The Oscar-winning actress played Celia Foote – who befriends maid Minny (Octavia Spencer) amid intense racism in 1960s Mississippi – in Tate Taylor’s 2011 period drama and would consider reprising the role despite the subsequent backlash to the project for its white saviour narrative.
Speaking on Entertainment Weekly’s Awardist podcast, Jessica said: “You know who I think about all the time, and I just wish I could play her (again)? Celia Foote.
“I just want to do something, Celia and Minny, and see what happened. You know they ended up living together and raising the baby together, they were best friends.
“How amazing would that film be? I loved her, and I got to be a bit silly.”
Jessica explained how she poured a lot into the character but didn’t get to “mine” lots of material as she only had a supporting part in the film.
The ‘George and Tammy’ actress explained: “A lot of my characters I feel like I got to experience a lot. Celia, it was such a deep dive for me. I really threw on that character and I didn’t really get to mine that much material, because I was a supporting part of that story.
“That’s a character I wish I could revisit.”
Bryce Dallas Howard also appeared in ‘The Help’ and previously admitted that she would not have chosen to star in the project had it been made now.
Quizzed if she would appear in the flick in the present day by the Los Angeles Times newspaper in 2020, she said: “No. But what I will say is: What I’ve seen is that folks have the courage to say that. ‘With all due respect, I love this project, I do not think you could be the filmmaker.’
“That’s a really powerful thing to say. That’s an important stance to take in order to make room for the true authentic storytellers.”

‘I didn’t really care for them’:Aaron Taylor-Johnson snubbed ‘huge’ franchises as a younger actor

OHMYGOSSIP — Aaron Taylor-Johnson turned down the chance to star in “huge franchises” when he made a name for himself in Hollywood.
The 33-year-old actor was lined up for more blockbusters after featuring in movies such as ‘Godzilla’ and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ but snubbed them all so he could spend more time with his family and focus on indie projects.
Aaron told Esquire magazine: “There was ‘Kick-Ass’ and then there was ‘Godzilla’ and ‘Avengers’, and all those things lined up for me.
“But I didn’t really care for them… (I was up for movies) that nobody knows about – big, huge franchises that were in play.
“(But) I wanted, purely, to be with my babies. I didn’t want to be taken away from them. I battled with what that would be like.”
The ‘Bullet Train’ star continued: “I would say I was probably not ready to be in that position anyway – it was too early. But yeah, I also slightly didn’t give a f***.”
Aaron is now set to return to the world of blockbusters with a role in the upcoming superhero flick ‘Kraven the Hunter’ – which is set in Sony’s Spider-Man universe – and did not expect to do so.
He said: “I mean, quite honestly, I thought I’d actually been done with these sorts of movies.
“You can’t step into this role, you can’t step into what this franchise is, with a f****** half-a****, ‘Let’s see how it goes attitude.’
“You have to be mentally prepared for what could come with that. I think I’m secure in my life now to know that I’m happy to deal with that. I think I’m secure in my life now to know that I’m happy to deal with that. I don’t think I was probably ready to invite that into my life earlier on.”

‘I couldn’t stop ordering takeaways!’ Luca Bish took part in Celebrity MasterChef to save cash

OHMYGOSSIP — Luca Bish took part in ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ to “save some money” because he couldn’t stop ordering takeaways.
The former ‘Love Island’ star will make his debut in the BBC One show next week when the final round of Heats takes place, and he is keen to “learn how to cook” on the series.
When asked what made him want to do ‘Celebrity MasterChef’, Luca said: “I wanted to save some money. I keep ordering takeaways!
“I really want to learn how to cook. I’m 23 now so I want to be a bit more independent and I love the reaction you get when you cook a good plate of food for someone.”
Luca will take part in the final round of Heats alongside ‘Emmerdale’ stars past and present Michael Praed and Amy Walsh, rapper and philanthropist Apl.de.Ap, and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro dancer Dianne Buswell.
Ahead of her ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ debut, Dianne admitted she is feeling slightly underprepared, and she is planning to “fake it” until she “makes it” on the series.
She said: “I have been extremely busy, so actually, my prep has been little to none, which does terrify me a little bit hearing how much everyone else has done.
“I’m just going to have to fake it until I make it and hope for the best.”
What’s more, there will be a big soap connection next week when Amy goes head-to-head in the kitchen with her former on-screen father Michael.
She said: “I worked with Michael Praed on ‘Emmerdale’ years ago – he played my dad.
“We were good friends so when I saw him, that was really lovely.
“But it is a surreal experience. It doesn’t feel like you’re on a TV show, it feels really organic and natural.”
Michael admitted it was “such a delight” to rub shoulders with Amy in the kitchen.

Gabby Logan: Ex-boss said I wouldn’t be on his channel aged 28

OHMYGOSSIP — Gabby Logan says an ex-boss told her she “wouldn’t be on his channel by age 28”.
The 50-year-old TV presenter has insisted there is a “hypocrisy” when it comes to how women and men present themselves on-screen, as she spoke about ageism in the TV industry.
She told Women’s Health UK magazine: “This boss said to me that I wouldn’t be on his channel after the age of 28 …
“There’s hypocrisy – sometimes I see a bloke and think, ‘The female equivalent of you doesn’t exist on TV… There isn’t a woman who looks that dishevelled…’
“And in a way I don’t think there should be either, because I always feel with TV, I’m going in someone’s living room…
“I want to be respectful of that and make a bit of effort. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have those standards.”
Gabby – who has 18-year-old twins Lois and Reuben with her husband, former rugby union player Kenny Logan, 51 – felt earlier on in her career that women were “probably a bit suspicious” of her because she was mainly talking to men.
She added: “I feel like I talk to more women now.
“I’m now able to have conversations that women are listening to.”
Gabby also detailed how reaching her milestone half-century birthday had allowed her to “feel confident” in her ability to speak up and out.
She said: “There’s a bit of you that’s [historically] been mindful about not wanting to be too loud in the room, or be the person that knows all the answers – even though, er, I do know the answer …
“So there’s probably a period where you kind of retreat a little bit, and then [you think] actually, no: I feel confident about that, and I’m 50 and I’ve done lots of different things that have got me to this stage.”

Susanna Reid mourns her late ‘beautiful friend’ Suki Thompson

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid has paid tribute to her “beautiful friend” Suki Thompson.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ star mourned her “incredible” companion after she lost her battle with skin cancer – which spread to her brain – aged 56, just days after Suki appeared on the ITV1 breakfast show via video link from her hospital bed on July 30.
The 52-year-old broadcaster captioned a photo of Suki’s funeral order of service on her Instagram: “Our beautiful friend Suki Thompson.
“The embodiment of strength and optimism.
“A passion for living life to the fullest.”
Susanna concluded the message by writing: “Go well lovely [red heart emoji]”.
During her last spot on the show, Suki – who dealt with the disease four times over the past 15 years, and used her experience to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support – said: “I am very close to the end of my journey I guess.”
Susanna told her: “It’s been a privilege knowing you and being friends with you.
“What you are doing is so remarkable. Huge love to you and the family.
“And just keep going, keep going. Human sunshine.”
Suki responded: “I am so inspired by having a friend like you Susanna.”
A teary Susanna replied: “You’re the inspiration.”
On her JustGiving page – which is still active and accepting donations – Suki urged people to “see your doctor immediately” if they notice anything unusual.
She said: “What started out as melanoma on my left foot has spread and become a brain tumour. So, if you notice a new mole or spot one that’s changing, see your doctor immediately. And even if you think you’re safe, please see your doctor anyway, and get checked regularly – it only takes a matter of minutes.”

Celebs Go Dating’s Chloe Burrows to open up about ‘rocky and tumultuous’ dating history

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Love Island’ star Chloe Burrows will open up about her “rocky and tumultuous” dating history on ‘Celebs Go Dating’.
The 27-year-old reality TV star – who split from her Toby Aromolaran, 24, after they met on the ITV2 dating competition in 2021 – will spill the tea during her upcoming appearance on the “intense” E4 reality show.
The influencer told OK! magazine: “It’s really rocky and tumultuous. I have had situationships, rollercoaster rides … not that fun.
“My previous relationship was really good, so I have got that as a standard now.”
Chloe shared that since her rise to fame she started going to therapy to help her cope with life.
She said: “Off the back of ‘Love Island’, ITV were really supporting with therapy which was amazing and then I eventually got my own as I found it easier to speak to someone.
“I don’t get into the nitty gritty, [‘Celebs Go Dating’] will be the first time I have spoken about my relationships. On ‘Love Island’ I have managed to get away without talking about it, ‘Celebs Go Dating’ is a lot more intense, the experience, I might take a lot more away from it.”
The ex ‘Scared of the Dark’ star confessed social media has often been an issue in her relationships.
Chloe said: “In relationships with social media, it has been really challenging – them looking at other girls. Being with a boy who I now know was with other girls, it makes you feel not good enough and you’re constantly comparing yourself.
“I thought, being in the industry, it would change but it has actually got worse. You feel like you are comparing yourself to every single person, that happens a lot.”
Recently, Toby claimed Chloe had “cut contact” with him following their breakup in October 2022.
The reality television star told The Sun newspaper: “We were talking, and then now we’re not talking. We’ve gone back to silence.”
He added that he found their agreement to not speak was mutual.
Toby said: “I’ve thought many times, shall I get back with her? But I just couldn’t. I can’t, I can’t, I just can’t do it.”

Gail Porter misses whole days due to ‘terrible insomnia’

OHMYGOSSIP — Gail Porter says her “terrible insomnia” leads her to miss whole days.
The former ‘Big Breakfast’ presenter has been plagued with sleep issues since she was small child, and she is sometimes so tired she naps for 48 hours.
The 52-year-old television presenter told The Sunday Times Magazine: “I have terrible insomnia – I’m up at 1am, 3am, 5am. I’m a worrier. Will I get work after Edinburgh? Have I messaged my friends enough? Is Ziggy going to like the cat-sitter?
“It has been going on since I was three or four – nothing works. Sometimes I’m so tired I sleep for 48 hours. I wake up when it’s dark and realise I’ve lost a day.”
Gail – who was diagnosed with bipolar in 2011 – also told how she handles any anxiety, admitting she can now “embrace” her past because she has had “great fun”.
She added: “But I was quite anxious long before I worked in TV and I’d always had eating problems.”
The ex ‘Fully Booked’ host admitted her busy schedule often resulted in her skipping meals, and the issue “spiralled” from there.
Gail said: “I flew from job to job ‘forgetting to eat’ and it spiralled quickly. Even if someone had tried to intervene, I wouldn’t have listened. Or I’d have agreed, then ignored their advice.”
The star has gone from TV presenter to stand-up comedian, and is currently performing at Edinburgh’s Assembly George Square Studios from August 15th to 28th.
She said: “I’m super-excited to be coming to Edinburgh. I’ll be doing stand-up seven nights a week.
“I don’t know if it’s a mid-life thing or whatever but I got offered it and I thought, why not?”
The ex ‘Top of the Pops’ presenter recently revealed how she often only got about £500 per episode for the BBC music show.
Gail told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I think £500, and then you’ve got 20 per cent to your agent, then you’ve got to pay your rent.
“All the front covers of magazines, I never got paid for any of them.”
She added that one of her best gigs was doing voice-over work for supermarket Sainsbury’s.
Gail said: “It was a few hundred quid a week, and you can’t complain about that. But other than that, I can’t remember well-paid jobs.”

Danny Dyer to take part in Celebrity Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer has signed up for ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star previously insisted he couldn’t take part in the celebrity baking contest – which raises money for Stand Up To Cancer – because he’d embarrassed himself in front of original judge Mary Berry, but he’s agreed to put his culinary skills on the line in front of current panel Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Danny once said he could never go on the show because he got rather drunk at a bash and when he met former judge Mary Berry, he licked her ear.
“It’s something which he was later mortified by, though no doubt her fellow judge on the show, Paul Hollywood, thought it was hilarious.
“But Paul is likely to ensure Danny doesn’t get up to any similar mischief on the ‘Celeb Bake Off’ — he doesn’t want to offer a Hollywood handshake only to have the actor reciprocate with an appreciative lick.”
Danny recently admitted he was “very nervous” to leave ‘EastEnders’ after nine years playing Mick Carter and was wary of how it would feel to play someone else after being offered the role of Steve Cameron in Australian drama ‘Heat’.
He said of ‘Heat’: “It was a job that came up towards the end of my run at ‘EastEnders’. It was a huge decision and I didn’t know if I had made the right one.
“‘EastEnders’ has been such a huge part of my life – the people there and the security it brings. Then this job came up and I thought, ‘OK, this is the start of my new chapter.’ But I was very nervous.
“I hadn’t done any other acting jobs for nine years. I did other stuff, like The Wall, but this is standing on my own two feet, being the lead on something else.
“I literally wrapped on Tuesday at ‘EastEnders’. I went home, I got my suitcase, I packed a bag and left the next day to go to Australia. I was straight in the deep end.”

Joachim Ronning reveals Tron: Ares delay due to strike action

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Tron: Ares’ director Joachim Rønning has expressed his frustration with the SAG-AFTRA strike after production on the movie was delayed.
The Norwegian filmmaker revealed he had been due to begin filming the Disney movie – which stars Jarred Leto, Jodie Turner-Smith and Evan Peters – this week but has instead had to make 150 crew members redundant.
While Joachim supports the strike action of both actors and writers, he urged both sides of the disputes to speed up negotiations and not let the difficulties drag on indefinitely.
He wrote on Instagram: “The absolute best moments of my career have been watching an actor perform in front of the camera – taking the scene and the text to a higher place. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with amazing talent. It’s a huge part of why I’m a filmmaker.
“However, like myself, being an actor or a writer, means you’re a freelancer. And I can tell you, the constant uncertainty is not for everyone. To that end I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for a better safety net.
“Many of my best friends are writers. Everything starts with the story. Everything starts with you. That must continue. And that means that AI needs to be regulated. There is no doubt about the threat the technology poses to all creatives.
“Today was supposed to be our first day of principal photography on TRON: ARES (a movie subsequently about AI and what it means, and takes, to be human). Instead, we are shut down with over a hundred and fifty people laid off.
“It’s indefinite, which makes it exponentially harder for everyone.
“The AMPTP, SAG-AFTRA and WGA need to speed up the negotiating process and not leave the table until it’s done.
“This is Hollywood. We close deals for breakfast. Why do we suddenly have all the time in the world when every day is so precious?
“These tactics are extremely frustrating. It’s time for diplomacy so we can get back to work – under conditions that are fair to everybody.”
The movie has been described as a sequel to 2010’s ‘Tron: Legacy’ but it hasn’t been confirmed if Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde or Garrett Hedlund will feature in ‘Tron: Ares’.

Blue Beetle aims to make all feel ‘welcome to our Latino heritage stories’, says director

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Blue Beetle’ aims to “welcome” all to “Latino heritage”.
Director Angel Manuel Soto says the upcoming DC movie is about uniting the world and he encourages everyone to “join the party with us”.
Speaking to fans at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood Tuesday (15.08.23), he said: “We put our hearts and souls into it because we wanted you guys to feel welcome to our stories.
“There’s no fear. Don’t fear Spanish, don’t fear Mexican heritage, don’t fear Latino heritage. We want you guys to join the party with us.”
Xolo Mariduena, 22, who is of Mexican, Cuban, and Ecuadorian descent, is portraying the titular superhero.
He previously told The Hollywood Reporter: “Blue Beetle isn’t to make me the next heartthrob or biggest star.
“It’s just to show people, ‘Hey, these stories about Latinos don’t have to just be about Narcos or crossing the border or being a gang member. You can be portrayed in a positive light.’ A superhero seems like the most positive light you can get in this industry.”
Blue Beetle first appeared in Fox Comics in 1939 and was created by Charles Wojtkowski. The character bounced around various comic publishers during the 20th century before landing at DC during the 1980s.
Soto’s project will focus on the most recent incarnation of the superhero, who was introduced as Mexican-American teenage Jaime Reyes in 2006. His powers come from a scarab that binds to his spine and provides him with a powerful suit of blue alien armour that can also equip him with bespoke weapons and wings.
The director previously told TheWrap.com: “It is an honour to direct ‘Blue Beetle’, the first Latino superhero film for DC.
“I want to sincerely thank everyone at Warner Bros. and DC for trusting me to bring Jaime Reyes to life. I can’t wait to make history together.”

Molly-Mae Hague suggests she and Tommy Fury will have two or three children

OHMYGOSSIP — Molly-Mae Hague says she thinks she and Tommy Fury could “probably handle” having “three children”.
The former ‘Love Island’ stars became parents for the first time to daughter Bambi in January, and while the boxer would like to follow in the footsteps of his brother Tyson and have a large family, his fiancée is willing to meet him halfway and have two or three children.
Speaking on the first episode of the Netflix series ‘At Home With The Furys’ – which is about Tyson, 35, and his boxing retirement and family life with his wife Paris, 33, and their six children – Molly-Mae said: “I don’t know how she does it. I think maximum me and you would be able to handle would probably be, potentially three.
“I know you wanna have 10. My dream was always to have two.
“We’re going to have to try and meet in the middle. I think three is something I can consider.”
Tommy replied: “You know why you can never have three?
“If we go on a rollercoaster, it’s me, you, it’s the two children, then one sat by their self.”
Tommy proposed to Molly-Mae in Ibiza in July with Bambi present.
Molly-Mae recently admitted she felt “miserable” before Tommy popped the question.
The reality star confessed she was “completely fooled” before the 24-year-old boxer – who she met on the ITV2 dating competition in 2019 – got down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage with a £600,000 sparkler.
The 24-year-old influencer said in a YouTube video: “This vlog was recorded before everything went down but I couldn’t not come on and say hi, say I’m a fiancée!
“It was recorded a couple days before we left for Ibiza, an extremely real day in my life, it’s comedy gold some of the comments, [me asking] why are we going to Ibiza? Stressing about packing because it was so last minute.
“I was completely fooled. I thought we were going for something completely different.
“Watching back, I was like, ‘This isn’t my finest side,’ I spoke about why I was bit down in the dumps in this vlog.
“As a woman, when you have a gut feeling that something is not right, and I couldn’t put my finger on what was going on but Tommy was not acting himself and I think it was contributing to how I felt. Something felt off.
“You’ve seen the not so fine side of me, I’ve been real, I’ve been miserable not bringing energy.
“I’ve been a little bit sad today and I think it’s my hormones, so please do bear with me.”
Molly-Mae also reflected on how well-travelled their six-month-old baby daughter Bambi was after their “last-minute trip to Ibiza”.
She said: “This is Bambi’s fifth country and she’s only six months, she’s basically doing a country a month.
“I’ve been getting a lot of comments recently saying I used to way prefer your content before it was a lot of baby stuff, and that makes me feel quite sad.
“I don’t think I talk about Bambi a lot, well maybe I do, I don’t know.
“I just never wanted my channel to become all about being a mum or my baby, as easily as it could be because I could talk about her all day.
“But I’m consciously remembering to keep it the way it was before because that’s why you were here in the first place. I try to keep a healthy balance.”

Neil Jones reveals why he could not be a judge on Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Jones would not want to be a judge on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 41-year-old star has served as a professional on the BBC Latin and Ballroom competition on and off since 2016 but is not likely to join the likes of Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, or fellow former professional Anton DuBeke because he prefers to “critique” his partners rather than judge them.
He told The Daily Star newspaper: “I’m one of these – I love to create and I love that side of it. I used to judge normal competitive competitions, so I’ve done that for quite a while but it’s not my [favourite]. It’s one of these things that as an artist, I don’t like to judge. I love the art of it, I love the performance of it but I appreciate everything so each week I can appreciate every single couple in their level and what they’ve gone through. I applaud them every week and I used to say, ‘If I get a partner or I have a partner I would say it’s a critique, you’re gonna get that.”
The dance champion- who has competed with former ‘EastEnders’ actress Nina Wadia and sports presenter Alex Scott on ‘Strictly’ – went on to add that all the professionals have also spent their lives undergoing criticism and he has found it “hard” to know what to take from the judges into the next week of the competition.
He added: And we as competitors, we’ve gone through that all of our lives so we know what that’s like, we take in some we don’t take in others, we see where we are on the scale and then we see what’s important.
“Every time the judges are right but sometimes you have to pick and choose what bit you’re going to actually take and what’s important for the next week and that’s hard.”
