Gail Porter: I get excited if I manage to sleep for more than three hours!

OHMYGOSSIP — Gail Porter struggles to get more than three hours of sleep.
The 52-year-old TV star has been open about her battle with insomnia and as she takes to the stage at the Edinburgh Fringe for her one-woman show ‘Hung, Drawn and Portered’ admitted that she struggles to get her head down and then finds herself exceptionally tired after completing her show.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she told stand-in host Ranvir Singh: “Last night, I finished the show and I was supposed to go out for dinner and then I couldn’t because I fell asleep at 11 o’clock, then I woke up at midnight, then I woke up at three, then I woke up at four. I just don’t get a full night’s sleep. I get so tired. I can’t remember the last time I got five hours. I get really excited if I make it to three.”
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star – who suffers from alopecia – is open about the trials and tribulations of her life in her new show and decided that rather than “feeling sorry ” for herself, she could make light of it all and unite others who had gone through similar struggles.
She added: “The show is about my life but trying to make it funny. A lot of people know what I’ve been through but some people don’t. I’ve gone from doing my television stuff in the ’90s, to losing my hair, losing my parents, losing my house, being homeless. Getting sectioned. Standard!
“And then getting myself back on my feet again. You either feel sorry for yourself or you can make it into something funny. The amount of people I speak to when I’m doing this show who have gone through stuff that I’ve gone through, everyone has gone through, we can all sort of laugh about it.”
‘Gail Porter: Hung, Drawn and Portered’ runs at the Edinburgh Fringe until August 28.

Rebecca Adlington says getting hospitalised for her miscarriage was ‘really scary’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebecca Adlington was “really scared” when she ended up in hospital after suffering a miscarriage.
The 34-year-old swimmer opened up about suffering a pregnancy loss at 12 weeks which led to her getting sepsis and kidney failure and praised her “angel” husband Andy Parsons – the father of her two-year-old son Albie – and the rest of her family who “rallied around” as she struggled to come to terms with things.
She told OK! Magazine: “It was really scary because I felt so ill. Andy was an angel and did absolutely everything. My parents looked after the kids and they all rallied around, but it took some time to come to terms with everything.”
The Olympic champion – who also has daughter, Summer, eight, with her ex-husband Harry Needs – admitted that having a problematic pregnancy “never” floated into her head as her two others were smooth sailing.
She said: “Because I’d had two children without any problems, a miscarriage never crossed my mind.
“I realise this might sound naïve, but I expected some signs. However, it was only once we had the 12-week scan that the poor lady had to say, ‘There isn’t a heartbeat’ – it was just sheer emotion from that point onwards.”
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ star admitted that she didn’t “want to deal” with the stress of having another baby and the ensuing “expectations” while juggling kids and her career along.
She said: “It’s not easy to get pregnant. I just don’t want to put loads of pressure on it or have any expectations. Especially when people start asking every single month, ‘Are you pregnant?’.
“I don’t want to deal with that while working full-time and having two kids. If it happens, it happens. If not, it’s not meant to be.”
The former ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ contestant professed to feeling “really responsible” for her miscarriage despite this very much not being the case.
Rebecca said: “I keep thinking about the pressure my body has been under to keep this little one, safe and sound and alive.
“I felt really responsible for the miscarriage, even though it wasn’t my fault. I remember speaking to the doctors and they said there was nothing I could have done to prevent what happened.
“But you’ve got all this pressure to protect something – this delicate being, this precious, special, incredible baby – for nine months, and it just seemed crazy because I’ve done it twice before and been absolutely fine.”

Cillian Murphy ‘loves’ watching Christopher Nolan movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Cillian Murphy “loves” watching Christopher Nolan films – but not the ones he’s in.
The 47-year-old actor has revealed that he’s a huge fan of the 2014 sci-fi movie ‘Interstellar’, which stars the likes of Matt Damon, Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway.
Cillian – who recently starred in ‘Oppenheimer’ – told The Independent: “I adore ‘Interstellar’ just because I find it so emotional. I remember seeing it in the cinema when I had little kids. It just had a big impact on me. It broke my heart.
“I love watching his films when I’m not in them because you don’t have to freak out about the size of your ears, or whatever.”
Earlier this year, Cillian likened the ‘Oppenheimer’ set to a “laboratory”.
The actor plays J. Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist who helped to develop the first nuclear weapons, in the acclaimed movie, and Cillian heaped praise on the film’s director for creating a “safe environment” for the cast.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “[Christopher] creates this really … kind of like a laboratory, where you can just try stuff out and he just lets you off. And the other thing is, I was thinking about it, no scene ever gets left behind, do you know what I mean? No scene is less than another.”
‘Oppenheimer’ boasted a star-studded cast that also included Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, and Matt Damon.
And Cillian revealed that he relished the experience of working with Florence.
He shared: “I liked working with Florence Pugh, [she] was amazing. She’s something else. And I’ve admired her work for a long time, so that was a real treat to get to work with her.
“Everyone smashed it. Like, everyone’s unbelievable, because Chris expects excellence, that’s just a given, and everyone turned up and delivered. Every single actor.”

Hollywood has misunderstood Barbie success, says Randall Park

OHMYGOSSIP — Randall Park thinks Hollywood has misunderstood the success of ‘Barbie’.
The Greta Gerwig-directed movie – which stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling – has proven to be a huge hit at the box office, but Randall’s believes there’s still been a misunderstanding about the film’s success.
Randall, 49, told Rolling Stone: “I feel like, just in general, this industry is taking the wrong lessons. For example, ‘Barbie’ is this massive blockbuster, and the idea is: Make more movies about toys! No. Make more movies by and about women!”
Randall’s directorial debut, ‘Shortcomings’, is having to compete with ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ at the box office.
But the director isn’t worried about the competition.
He explained: “I can’t control any of that stuff, so it doesn’t affect me too much. I am genuinely happy that we got acquired by a great company like Sony Pictures Classics and are out into the world.
“It’s such a challenging time for our movie on numerous levels, but I do feel confident that we’ll find our audience eventually.”
Meanwhile, Margot previously revealed that she hopes people “form an opinion” of ‘Barbie’ – even if they don’t like the movie.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ prior to the film’s release, Margot explained: “I am just so excited.
“We’re at the point of sharing it with the world. There’s always that thing when you make a movie and you love it and you care about it so much and you hope that people are gonna like it and even see it. Like even if they don’t like it, I just hope they see it and get to form an opinion.
“But I feel like so many people are gonna see this movie that it’s really exciting.”
Margot also praised the film’s director for creating a unique movie.
She said: “It really is Greta’s vision.
“I mean, the vision for ‘Barbie’ obviously started 64 years ago, but Greta bringing it into the world today in the way that only Greta Gerwig can is what makes this movie worth making right now.”

Hunted’s Danni Brooke seeks out Airport Dads

OHMYGOSSIP — Hunted’s Danni Brooke has been training Heathrow Airport volunteers to spot Airport Dads in a bid to curb holiday tension.
The former undercover cop has sent a memo to the Here to Help team to teach them the key signs of the TikTok sensation #airportdad – the person in any holiday party taking on most of the responsibility of getting everyone away together – in order to reach out and help them de-stress.
She said: “I’ve spent my career building the skills it takes to analyse a person through their body language, and act on the situation before it escalates.
“While Airport Dads may not be doing anything criminal, it can certainly feel that way to families who are just looking to relax and enjoy a much-needed break.
“Now, the Heathrow team have all the skills they need to spot these Airport Dads before they share their stress with their whole party, ensuring their holidays start from the moment they step into the airport.”
The newly-named Airport Dad Deactivation team will offer frazzled travellers vouchers for free food, drinks, facials at Kiehl’s and even premium lounge access in a bid to cut rows before the holidays have even begun.
In addition, new signage has been posted throughout the airport’s terminals to warn the public to be on alert for potential Airport Dads.
Research commissioned by Heathrow found the top traits of an airport dad include
keeping hold of the family’s passports (35 per cent), constantly checking the time (34 per cent), and taking charge of getting everyone to the airport (33 per cent) and come after videos with the hashtag #airportdad hit over 280 million views on TikTok.
The initiative will be in place until 31 August.
Heathrow is also encouraging kids to take clandestine footage of their Airport Dads in action under the hashtags #Heathrow #AirportDad in an effort to raise awareness of the phenomenon.
Travellers can take advantage of Heathrow’s other initiatives to make travelling easier for families, including the Kids Eat Free offer – available at selected restaurants across terminals – and free Heathrow Express tickets for children under 15.

Brassic ‘lands first Christmas special’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Brassic’ has reportedly landed its first Christmas special.
The Sky comedy drama – which stars Michelle Keegan as Erin Croft – will be back next month for its fifth series, while a festive special is planned for later this year.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “It feels like a long time coming but everyone is thrilled Brassic is getting a Christmas special after four years on the box.
“It’s going to be a foul-mouthed, festive knees-up Brassic style – forget your fairytale, it’ll be more akin to Billy Bob Thonrton’s ‘Bad Santa’ and ‘The Grinch’ than your schmaltzy ‘It’s A Wonderful Life.’ ”
The one off is set to be filmed in September, while there could be “some surprises” with the casting for the special episode.
The source added: “The special episode is being filmed next month around Manchester and in Lancashire and the cast are super-excited to show what a Christmas in Hawley looks like for the gang of criminal misfits.
“There will be some surprises in the mix too, including a big name one-off casting.”
In the show, Erin is trying to make a better life for her son Tyler, while ‘Brassic’ writer and co-star Joe Gilgun plays Tyler’s dad and gang leader Vinnie.
Most recently, Michelle’s character dated Vinnie’s best friend Dylan (Damien Molony), who left the show in dramatic scenes at the end of the last series.
It means after they shared a kiss, Erin and Vinnie could have a reunion – although it’s unknown how things will pan out before the festive episode.
The insider said: “Obviously series five will precede the Christmas special so whether Michelle’s on-screen love story will have a festive twist isn’t clear just yet. She’d make a great Mrs Claus through!
“It’s a real commitment from Sky backing her as their leading lady in this way.
“Her crime thriller Fool Me Once airs on Netflix soon so it’s no surprise Sky want to keep her close.”

Blue Beetle director filled film with Easter eggs to feel part of DCU

OHMYGOSSIP — Angel Manuel Soto wanted ‘Blue Beetle’ to feel part of the DC Universe.
The 40-year-old director – who was at the helm of the upcoming superhero blockbuster – was determined to strike the right tone by including plenty of Easter eggs, even if DC bosses ruled out some ideas due to logistics with the wider franchise.
He told Collider: “Yeah, there are definitely things that we wanted to put in that they were like, ‘No,’ because it might attach it to a different universe or something.
“Of course, we went hard with all the Easter eggs that we could; we wanted to have as much as we could.
“When building the city, this cosmopolitan city that has all these neon lights and that has all these holographic elements to it, we wanted to make it feel like it also belongs to the greater DC Universe, and Lexcorp is Lexcorp.”
Another Easter egg that fit into this logic was making sure Gotham Law School was represented, having always existed in DC comics.
He added: “The same thing with Gotham law school, Gotham is Gotham. That will never disappear within the lore of the superheroes, so why not have our hero also exist in a world that is affected by all these other legacies?”
Xolo Mariduena, 22, who is of Mexican, Cuban, and Ecuadorian descent, is portraying the titular superhero.
And Soto recently revealed the upcoming movie is about uniting the world and welcoming people to “Latino heritage”.
Speaking to fans at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood Tuesday (15.08.23), he said: “We put our hearts and souls into it because we wanted you guys to feel welcome to our stories.
“There’s no fear. Don’t fear Spanish, don’t fear Mexican heritage, don’t fear Latino heritage. We want you guys to join the party with us.”

‘I want to learn martial arts and be in movies!’ Doja Cat sets sights on film career

OHMYGOSSIP — Doja Cat wants is keen to start a movie career – and wants to appear in martial arts films.
The 27-year-old singer and rapper would love to have a crack at the big screen, and she has set her sights on acting in a motion picture “like ‘John Wick'”, but first she wants to learn martial arts.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar magazine, she added: “I would love to do movies that I believe in.
“I would have to stop the music for a minute.
“But I would be down to immerse myself in acting for a certain period of time.
“I love comedies and action films. I want to learn martial arts and be in a film like ‘John Wick’.”
In July, Cat vowed to stop making “palatable, marketable and sellable” music.
The ‘Say So’ hitmaker has vowed all her future music will be “authentic” after she channelled all the “rage” she felt toward the music industry into an eclectic album – the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Planet Her’ – which traverses “rap, soul and R’n’B music with jazz”.
Speaking to V magazine, she said: “I have thrown fits my whole career because I have been making music that didn’t allow me to have a mental release.
“I have been making music that is palatable, marketable and sellable, that has allowed me to be where I am now.”
“These upcoming projects are going to be very different compared to everything I have done and I am excited about that.
“I do not care if people are not.”
In May, Cat declared she was done with pop because it was no longer “exciting” to her.
The musician made the admission in a series of posts on Twitter, which is now known as X, writing: “No more pop … Pop isn’t exciting to me anymore. I don’t wanna make it.
“I also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny. I know they are. I wasn’t trying to prove anything I just enjoy making music but I’m getting tired of hearing y’all say that I can’t so I will … (sic)”

Mindy Kaling and Dev Patel executive produce To Kill a Tiger

OHMYGOSSIP — Mindy Kaling and Dev Patel have been made executive producers of ‘To Kill a Tiger’.
The 44-year-old actress and Dev, 33, have both boarded the film – which follows an Indian farmer as he seeks justice for his teenage daughter – as executive producers, ahead of its release in October.
Mindy said in a statement: “I feel so lucky to be part of this remarkable film by the gifted filmmaker, Nisha Pahuja. The story is heart-wrenching but triumphant, and stays with you long after you’ve seen it.
“‘To Kill A Tiger’ shows you not only the power of a father’s love but the strength of a young woman who faced the unimaginable, and chose to fight.”
The feature was actually screened at the Toronto Film Festival in 2022, and Dev has admitted to being wowed by Nisha’s work.
The ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ star described the director’s work as being “revolutionary”.
He explained: “I had a visceral reaction whilst watching Nisha Pahuja’s tender and powerful story of a father’s love, and his determination to support his teenage daughter’s quest for justice.
“In a culture where submission is commonplace, to challenge a centuries-old system that has silenced the voices of victims is revolutionary. Despite threats against the family and being ostracised in their community, they remained unflinching in their resolve.
“A David and Goliath story to the highest extent, ‘To Kill a Tiger’ is not only a rallying cry to dismantle the patriarchal system but also an inspiring anthem about the unwavering courage, resilience, and undeniable power of women. In my opinion, this film is one of the most important in modern Indian history.”

‘You never forget!’ Lisa Snowdonn opens up about having an abortion in her 20s

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Snowdon will “never forget” having an abortion.
The 51-year-old TV star has stood by her decision to terminate a pregnancy when she was in her because she had been “let down hugely” by the father but still thinks about what life would have been like had she carried the baby to full term.
She told the Daily Mail newspaper’s You supplement: “I stand by the fact that it [the termination] was the right decision because I’ve always thought that if I’m going to have a family, I want a supportive partner — who’s loving, who’s there — and I was with a man who wasn’t the right man to have in my life. He’d let me down, hugely, wasn’t even there for the first doctor’s appointment [about the pregnancy]. If I’d had the baby, I’d have been connected to that man for the rest of my life. But every now and then I’d think, ‘Gosh he or she would be this or that age now’. You never forget.”
The ‘This Morning’ presenter – who is now engaged to George Smart, 44 – later found herself pregnant at the age of 41 with her now ex-boyfriend and saw the “miracle baby” as a sign she “had been forgiven” for terminating the previous pregnancy but was devastated when the pregnancy ended in miscarriage.
She said: “This time, even though the relationship wasn’t perfect, I saw it as a sign from the universe — maybe from God — that I had been forgiven and I was finally going to have a baby. I was going to be a mum. I am not religious, but it was hard not to feel blessed at that moment, given the odds.”
“I rushed to the bathroom, full of panic at seeing all that blood. I didn’t know what to do. We’d only just gone on air, and I knew I had to keep working.”
“I dug deep and tried to park the dread I felt in the pit of my stomach, praying that my baby would be OK. As soon as the show was finished and we were off air, I rushed to hospital and my worst fears were confirmed — the scan showed the heartbeat had stopped. My baby had died.
‘To say I was devastated is an understatement; I was heartbroken, inconsolable.'”

Kym told HELLO! magazine: “I couldn’t be any prouder. I watched Emilie’s first child be born and now she’s my first child to marry. It’s an emotional time: my baby girl is getting married!”
Emily – who is also co-starring mother in ‘The Official Take That Musical: Greatest Days’ – called having Kym with her “so special”.
She said: “It was so special to have my mum with me. She cried her eyes out the first time she saw me in my dress.”
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star – who also has 28-year-old son David and 11-year-old daughter Polly – went on to add that her daughter was the “the most beautiful girl” in her wedding dress.
She said: “Seeing her in her dress, veil, hair, and make-up was the most incredible thing. She’s the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.”

Annette Badland struggled to leave the house during EastEnders stint

OHMYGOSSIP — Annette Badland learned not to leave the house when she was on ‘EastEnders’.
The 72-year-old actress has been a regular on British TV screens for decades but garnered a new generation of fans when she played the part of Babe Smith on the BBC soap opera from 2014 until 2017 and admitted she had to learn to stay at home at certain times to avoid being hounded by schoolchildren.
Speaking on the ‘Soap from the Box’ podcast, she said: “If you’re in people’s living rooms frequently, they do know you as the character. On ‘EastEnders’, people actually spoke it me as my character and it certainly was quite freaky. I learned not to go out when schools were coming out because you get on a tube and there would be three classrooms full of people. They do not do their homework, they watch ‘EastEnders’, they all pile on and they go ‘Oh, Babe!’. There’s no use pretending you’re reading your book or you’ve got your earpods in.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Ted Lasso’ star went to add that she thinks the acting business is “terrible” for a woman over the age of 40 and ever since letting her hair go white has found that she is often offered stereotypical “old lady” roles.
She said: “I think it’s terrible when a woman hits 40. I think for those actresses 40 to 60 who have been leads in series, top of their game, and suddenly, they’re not required anymore. They don’t fit into the box. For me, I let my hair go white during COVID because I wondered what was under there and thought it was a great opportunity.
“And then I liked the colour and decided to keep it, so I asked my agent. I was on ‘Midsomer Murders’ at the time and they said that was fine. BUt now I do find that I get a lot of grannies, old lady, parts and you think…come on, what about Helen Mirren?”

Countdown star Rachel Riley ‘worried’ about her numbers skills when she got pregnant

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Riley “worried” about her Maths skills when she got pregnant.
The 37-year-old presenter – who has Maven, two, and Noa, 20 months, with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Pasha Kovalev – has solved quick sums on the Channel 4 gameshow ‘Countdown’ since 2009 but admitted she was concerned about suffering from the effects of “baby brain” when she was first expecting.
Speaking on the ‘Spinning Plates’ podcast, she told Sophie Ellis-Bextor: “I just need to sort out some sort of regular childcare we don’t have a regular working life. If I knew it was Monday to Friday, I’d be able to sort it out but I need to delve into it and find some proper childcare at some stage. I was a bit worried when I got pregnant because you hear about baby brain and hormones and sleep deprivation but thankfully, the ‘Countdown’ thing is like riding a bike. So thankfully, that’s still there. ”
Rachel – who replaced longstanding presenter Carol Vorderman on the teatime favourite – went on to add that these days she relies on “adrenaline” to get her through the day as she contends with a busy shooting schedule and a teething child.
She added: “You just ride it and get back to it the next day. But we do five shows in a day and then I go home and I’ve got the baby. . Sometimes she’s teething and sometimes you just get a couple of hours [of sleep] and you’re back in the studio. I think the adrenaline keeps you going. I’ve got such a great team around me. “I’m a proper Maths geek, that’s my favourite thing, so sometimes I can’t put sentences together but I can still do the numbers game!”

Love Island bosses hope All Stars series can shake up the format

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ bosses want to shake things up with the new All Stars series.
The ITV dating show will return this winter to the villa in Cape Town, South Africa with a host of fan favourite Islanders from previous series, and producers are keen to do all they can to get people tuning in.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “‘Love Island’ bosses want to make sure they’re out of the ratings slump when winter rolls around for All Stars.
“They are working out ways to give the show a real kick and to make the format have a lasting impact on viewers.
“At the moment it’s all just an open discussion and there are lots of ideas being put forward.”
While the idea of having “old rivals” clashing once more, bosses are keen to embrace the chaos with “some fresh faces”.
The source added: “Naturally, there is potential for old rivals to have it out on screen and to put old love triangles back into play.
“But some fresh faces could bring a twist. Will old hands stick with who they coupled up with before, for maximum impact, or risk everything for someone they actually fancy?
“It would really test out that argument that people now just use Love Island for fame.”
It’s said to be an “exciting” prospect for the team, who are reportedly considering any and all ideas.
The insider said: “It’s all very exciting for the team who are working on it because nothing is off the table.”
‘Love Island All Stars’ is set to air in January instead of the usual winter series, while Maya Jama is poised to return as host.
It’s been reported that the likes of Maura Higgins and Sophie Piper have been approached by bosses as they try to deliver a stacked line up.

Peter Jackson hails Talk To Me as ‘best horror movie’ in years

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Jackson has hailed ‘Talk To Me’ as “the best, most intense horror movie” he’s seen in a long time.
The ‘Lord of the Rings’ filmmaker – who has made waves in the genre himself with projects like ‘Heavenly Creatures’ and ‘District 9’ – has joined the likes of Jordan Peele and Ari Aster as huge fans of the innovative blockbuster.
In a statement to Ahi Films, he said: “It’s relentlessly scary and disturbing – in the best possible way.
“‘Talk To Me’ isn’t just good – it’s very very good. The best, most intense horror movie I’ve enjoyed in years.”
The film follows Mia (Sophie Wilde) as she becomes connected to the supernatural after a seance involving an embalmed hand which is meant to connect people with spirits.
Providing users are connected to the hand for no longer than 90 seconds, they will experience a drug-like high – but there are dangers involved if they stay for too long.
The Australian movie also starred Alexandra Jensen as Jade, Joe Bird as Riley, Otis Dhanji as Daniel, Miranda Otto as Sue, Zoe Terakes as Hayley and Chris Alosio as Joss.
Thankfully for Jackson and other famous fans, studio A24 recently confirmed directors Danny and Michael Philippou are working on a follow up, with Danny once again writing the script alongside Bill Hinzman.
Danny had already teased a potential sequel, admitting that he had plenty of scenes left over.
He told Deadline: “Because I was writing it for so long and we were redrafting and redrafting, you just can’t help but start writing other scenes, scenes of different people experiencing the hands, continuing on these characters’ story.
“So, there’s scenes for a sequel, yeah.”

Tom Hanks offered Austin Butler a post-Elvis role to protect his ‘mental health’

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hanks offered Austin Butler a role immediately after ‘Elvis’ for the sake of his “mental health”.
The 67-year-old Hollywood legend starred opposite Butler in the 2022 film, and he was so impressed with his commitment he offered him a part in his Apple TV+ miniseries ‘Masters of the Air’.
Hanks told Butler he thought it would be “wise” to dive into another project because he could suffer from “emotional whiplash” otherwise.
Butler – who played Elvis Presley in the movie – recalled to The Sunday Times newspaper that Hanks once told him at a dinner: “You have immersed yourself so deeply in ‘Elvis’ that, for your mental health, it would be wise to go straight into something else.
“If you just jump off the train, you might have emotional whiplash … And, you know, I’ve got this thing I’m producing.”
Butler damaged his vocal cords while filming ‘Elvis’ because he had to do so much singing, and after the film wrapped he struggled to ditch the Southern accent he adopted to play the late King of Rock and Roll.
In February, he said on ‘The Graham Norton Show’: “I am getting rid of the accent, but I have probably damaged my vocal cords with all that singing.
“One song took 40 takes!”
Butler also praised Hanks – who portrayed Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker in the movie – as a “master of his craft”.
He said: “I had no idea what it was going to be like meeting someone you have admired for so long. You hope they would be warm to you, but you never really know.
“He is such a master of his craft, and I was intimidated, but the first time I met him he gave me the biggest bear hug and joked about how nervous he was.
“When I said I was terrified, he said: ‘And, nobody knows what Colonel Parker sounds like, but everyone knows what Elvis sounds like!’ ”
